The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi province is a gothic-style Catholic church founded in 1909. It is a popular tourist attraction and serves as the symbol of the city due to its two towers and statue of Virgin Mary near the main entrance. While visitors cannot currently enter, they can admire the elegant stained glass windows from outside. The nearby old town Chantabun community across the river is also worth exploring.
Nice to see a great cathedral for Catholic believers, there are actually a lot of catholic churches in the area but this cathedral is not to be missed. beautiful architecture and clean , too.
There are shops surrounding the cathedral, cheap souvenirs and a few steps away from the historical river, with vintage shops in it.
The cathedral is only open during scheduled mass so make sure to check their schedule before visiting.
Nostalgic and surreal for me. Visit it soon!

This Cathedral is very very beautiful. It's Gothic style and look like France and Italy mix it together.

The French colonists brought Catholicism to Thailand. A typical French style Cathederal remains. Was not open during visit. New buildings, a school and shrine are located next to it.

One of the most tourist attraction and UNSEEN in Chantaburi province.
With its two towers of classic Gothic style, it became the symbol of the city where a statue of the Virgin Mary stands a few meters in front of the main entrance of the building. Today they close for visiting inside the classy and shady stained glasses dispict various saints, but you can walk around outside. Across the river is an old town Chantabun community. If you plan to travel in Chantaburi, don't miss it.

Picturesque cathedral that is well maintained. Note that women must dress conservatively to be able to enter the cathedral. There is no charge to tour the structure or grounds but parking costs 20 Baht.

Visited the church, but my mum was denied entry for wearing shorts.
Just as the woman/bouncer was explaining this to us, another woman walked out wearing the exact same length shorts as my mum.
I pointed this out to her, and she just shrugged her shoulders and said we couldn't come in.
Very strange behaviour considering churches are supposed to be welcoming to all people.
Terrible attitude and behaviour from the staff there.

This Cathedral has been here for more than 300 years! Making it one of the oldest and biggest in Thailand. The highlight of the Church is the 200,000 gem stone decorated holy Mary. When entry, the security guard will make sure that you are dress appropriately. For example, women must wear dress or pants that is longer than the knees, no hats and flippers is ok. Outside the church you can cross the bridge to enjoy the local streets market

During the Holy Week, I visited this cathedral and was struck by its beauty, as well as the warmth of the people there. Even though I'm not a Christian, I could appreciate the holy atmosphere of the place. The interior design is impressive and exudes a sense of reverence.
One of the most memorable moments was when the people there generously gave out free eggs, which was a touching gesture. I was also impressed by the welcoming nature of the church people who made me feel included despite not being part of their faith. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that left a lasting impression on me.

Definitely worth stopping ! Beautiful cathedral. As the time I was here I couldn’t access in because of a ceremony. I save it for next time then!
Near the cathedral you can walk along the river it’s really beautiful, and authentic. Away from touristic area.

This cathedral was claimed to be the most beautiful in Thailand and we are quite agree. The day we visit has not much visitors despite the long holidays. They are now managed that visitors has to queue in the small group and they show short video showing the history of the place , after that , visitors can walk around and they requested that visitors should not take improper selfie.

I would like to name this temple as Cathedral of Chanthaburi, but it is probable or not, I am not sure. I cannot say that it is Baroque or Gothic. The only that I can is"It is very impressed."
The temple is one of the remarkable place that you should visit. It is almost situated in the center of Tha mai district of Chanthaburi.
The Cathedral was constructed about hundred yeras ago together with a number of times of repairing.
The identities of design, material chosing, colouring and surrounding atmosphere are emphasized to the warmth and loving kind to all humanity of the holy lord, Jesus.
After passing through some what like residential area of the surrounding local people, you will get through a wide yard infront of the soft-grey temple whose three top tips carrying three christain Cross on its heights.
Further more, interior decoration is full of a plenty of selected coloured mosaic glasses on its windows and walls.
Outside the temple area, it connects to folkway style of local people market. You may find morning or evening food market and good dessert there.
Please try.
Chanthaboon Waterfront Community is a picturesque destination that boasts traditional waterside homes on stilts, charming "gingerbread" architecture and a striking neo-Gothic cathedral. This area predominantly houses the Chinese community and features several local shops offering unique treats such as fresh Chantaburi pepper or homemade snacks like seaweed with fried durian and black sesame. Visitors can enjoy an affordable dining experience at various restaurants lining the riverbank, serving up delicious varieties of som tam.
Loved this place. Stumbled on it by accident. Very unusual in a great way. You must go and see it. Met a monk there who had very good English who was able to give some history of the place.
Throughly enjoyed my visit and as usual came away feeling calm and relaxed.
Highly recommended.

The historic Chantaboon riverside community stretches alongside the Chanthaburi river.
My suggestion is park just above the Chantaboon bridge by the exercise park and walk from there as there's no public parking within the community, use the bridge underpass and just follow the road from there.
Towards the end you'll see access to a footbridge across the river which takes you to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and there's an Amazon Cafe there too.
Chantaboon - suggest go after 10am as the gallery and some historic places don't open to the public till mid-late morning.
Plenty of eating options, our recommendations would be Sweet @ Moon Cafe for coffee and cake, and Tamujan for meals and drinks but there are so many others to choose from.
Take your time and enjoy the walk.

The weather has gotten to it and here and there there is some wear and tear but. It's pleasant to have seen it. Much appreciated.
It's not really touristic place which makes it special to witness the sense of living as the locals do.

There's not much to see in Chantaburi. This one is the star attraction but frankly no where near anyones expectations and that is largely because of lavk of any form of maintenance barring a couple of houses here or there. You can opt to walk down the road on the other side of the river but beware of a large pack of stray dogs, it can be scary.
Overall you wont miss much if you skipped Chantaburi altogether.

An alley with 1 to 2 km. distance, which you have to share the road with all vehicles. This old community comprised old style houses along the canal. Some are changed into shops, restaurants, and cafes. Only some restaurants open when we arrived on Sunday at the late evening. It's not that much unique, however it's worthwhile to stroll and take a look. Anyway, for energetic and adventurous people including who love the modernity this place might not suitable for you.

King Taksin Monument located in the city central of Chantaburi province Thailand. In this monument display the real sword used by the warriors king. When we visited this monument, we were very fortunate that "lifting the king sword" ceremony was taking place. This ceremony was not well advertised, hence only the local and fortunate tourist were attended. This ceremony takes place inside the main "hat" hall, it'd free for participants and only takes place one month in a year

Below the temple, they provides Authentic and Traditional Thai Massage, charges between 500 BAHT to 800 BAHT for a 2 hours massage session per person, massage are done by male at the open area of the ground floor. The best massage I had ever had in Thailand. Opposite of this temple, there's a shop selling fish skin noodles soup. Price are definitely reasonable, fish skin is the best, plenty of others varieties of seafood available to choose.

Lovely walking street with lots of street food, colourful desserts and cute stuff. There's a pier beside it with a nice view too. There are some street art here but it seems that the locals do not want you to take photos of them. Either that or they are very inconsiderate because they park their truck/scooter right in front of the street art or loiter right in front of them for a long time. There's a large and free car park right outside this walking park but people simply have to park here instead of this car park.
It's not bad for a visit if you are hungry or looking for a nice dessert. But not worth a special trip just to see.

It's Chanthaburians' main public park. When I was young, I jogged here with my mum a couple of days a week, and I could remember this atmosphere. And now I jog here again after 10 years (COVID has asked me to come home for 3 months already). People here are nice and friendly as always – happy to know many people love exercises. I notice that two things have changed: water here is much smelly, and there is a brand-new running track (2-km). It's better/milder for our joints and safer to run.
