The Limburg Cathedral is a remarkable Romanesque structure built on a rock with enchanting fairy tale spires. It showcases medieval art both inside and outside, making it truly special. Visitors can park their vehicles below and enjoy a leisurely stroll up to the cathedral for maximum pleasure. The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful, adorned with lovely bells while the interior exudes a nice ambiance due to chanting from somewhere in the transept and historic art spanning several centuries throughout.
We saw this Cathedral on our way to burg Eltz, (from Frankfurt) we thought of checking it out. Oh boy, we took the right decision! The cathedral was very cute and little different than other cathedrals we visited recently. It had 3 floors (upstairs) and looks simple but elegant. There is a nice view of the town from left side of the cathedral. We visited on Sat (28th Oct). It was open and free entry. There were pretty good amount of visitors, even in a gloomy day. But the best thing was, the town! Such a gorgeous, cute little town, the fishmarket (no fishy smell or nothing like that), and all those beautiful patterned colorful German houses! Even their shed (gartenhaus) had to be the same pattern, painted like those houses!! I would surly recommend anyone to visit this town and enjoy the beauty and bless them by eating in one of their restaurant.

The Georgsdome is almost 800 years old and a beautiful cathedral on a big rock next to the river Lahn. A must see when you visit Rhein-Main area!

Really special, quote old and with lovely frescos inside and out. Park somewhere down below and meander your way up for maximal enjoyment. I managed to carry my infant all the way up, in, and around and she was delighted. Bring .50 to buy the small pamphlet (in your option of several languages) or 3€ for the booklet. The Dom‘s exterior is beautiful and has lovely bells, and the interior has a nice ambiance with chanting coming from somewhere in the transept and several centuries of historic art throughout. As cathedrals go it’s really special!

Cathedral within an adorable city. Architecture is beautiful, stained glass windows and approachable alters and prayer nooks. Have a seat and you can almost hear the organ playing from ages past.
Runkel Castle is a well-maintained hilltop fortress from the Middle Ages that offers seasonal tours and features a museum. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Lahn river and surrounding villages from this picturesque castle. The admission fee is reasonable, especially given the amount of time one can spend exploring the site (approximately 1.5 hours). English-language guide pamphlets are available on-site for convenience.
a beautiful place to visit, for a few euros the castle was very surprising. The surroundings by the river are charming, and the ice cream in the cafe at the foot of the castle is delicious

Very few tourists seem to make it here. The Tourist office is very helpful and the town is nice to wander around.

This castle should really be on your to do list. It's really lovely, so we'll maintained, and with a lot of historical artifacts, made up period rooms, a labyrinth of rooms to explore, and a spectacular view from the top... All for 5 euros! There were about 3 other groups of people when we were there, and the village was dead quiet! Much much nicer than Limburg.

Decent size castle and 5€ entry for adults and 2,50€ for ages 4-14. There are guided tours available but there is also a lot of information presented in the information pamphlet and at various displays. It is well kept.

At first glance, we didn't consider going in the Schloss, how wrong we were. The ruine is in pristine condition, near inhabitable, even for the most ancient part. It offers unique viewpoints over the area and stunning access to every nook and cranny the castle had to offer. Imagining yourself as a Lord of the Valley requires so little effort, one's wife has to snap you out of it at regular intervals. The fun doesn't stop there as you are offered several life-sized displays of medieval times and a passage through the armory, which is of unseen quality and kept in a state that makes you wonder if someone is still planning on making use of them sooner or later. Out of lack of things to complain about, I must say the fortress doesn't cater to the less able of body. Seeing as it stems from a time when a disability meant a death sentence, we will refrain from making to much of a fuss about it.

Nice, well kept castle to visit for some very good looks out upon the Lahn river and surrounding villages. The price of admission (€4 per adult) is more than fair in my opinion for the time you can spend exploring the site (probably about 1.5 hours for most). You can get castle guide pamphlets in English as well.
Additionally, the lady who was at the cash register when we visited was extremely friendly. After we spent time enjoying the castle she gave our daughter a gift! It made her day and we will definitely be back, in no small part due to her kindness!

We absolutely loved the place. The central tower is accessible. You would have to be a bit careful when you climb. The climb is narrow and uneven But the view from the top of the tower is breathtaking. You can see the river Lahn and the bridge connecting the town. The lady at the counter is friendly and tickets are not that costly. Try to go on a clear sky day for better view.

Runkel castle is a wonderful medieval hill castle, first mentioned 1159. You can take your own tour for small money. Starting in the inner courtyard you first walk through a well stocked armoury. Then you walk through kitchen and living rooms, pass dungeons on your way up to the tower, from which you have a great look over Runkel and the Lahn valley.
"Der Grieche Limburg im Werner-Senger-Haus" is a restaurant located in the oldest house in Limburg, Germany. The atmosphere is charming and the food, such as Schnitzel with potatoes, is made with fresh ingredients. The owner takes time to share stories about the history of the house and town, adding to the experience. Visitors can also enjoy homemade hazelnut liquor while basking in the pride that the owner has for this gem of a place.
We had lunch in this restaurant during our trip in Limburg. My parents visited me from Italy so we really wanted to have something typical German! This place is located in the oldest house in Limburg, so the atmosphere is really nice. We ordered Schnitzel with potatoes and it was well made, you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. We had lunch here on a Monday, so it wasn't busy and the owner took the time to delight us with a lot of stories about the history of the house and the town. It was so appreciated and you could hear him being proud of this place! He even offered us a homemade liquor made out of hazelnuts, which smelled and tasted awesome! I really am happy to have found this gem and would totally recommend it if you're in Limburg!

We paid a lot of money, but didn't get a quality food and service what we expected. Very rude and unfriendly waiter. We spent over €60 for all my food to be cold.. when I called to give them a chance to apologize & rectify their mistake. They just kept saying they didn't make a mistake like I would lie & go out of my way to tell them how my food was cold, three different items!

Nice terrace, a few meters off from the busiest part of town and therefore seems a little more quiet.
Food looked good. But we had to leave to catch our guided tour. After asking a couple times our order was cancelled 45 min after it was placed as it would have taken another 20 min until finished.
(We ordered 2 salads and goats cheese with zucchini.)
So if you have time, seems ok.
