The Bhuri Singh Museum, established in 1975, features a collection of artwork and exhibitions that emphasize the rich history and culture of Chamba. This museum is a must-visit destination for anyone touring the area, as it offers a unique glimpse into the region's past. Despite being relatively unknown to most visitors, this museum is considered a hidden gem due to its impressive displays and informative exhibits.
Do not miss this place when you visit Chamba. It's a hidden gem, and it's a shame that there wasn't a single other visitor when I was here.

This is one of must visit place if you are visiting Chamba town. With a Rs.50 entry ticket you can spend around two hours just watching the artifacts.
Items can go from 4 A.D. to modern currency.
A 2 storeyed museum with photos exhibition about the history of town on top floor is just great finish to this place.
Only issue is the description is very limited for many artifacts.

This place is open on all days other than Mondays. Opening hours 10am to 5pm.
This gives you some perspective on the heritage of Chamba rulers and most artefacts are from around 18th century but a few are much older, enclosing some pictures for your perspective. Ticket Rs.50/- per person for Indian citizens.
There is a paid public parking nearby. Parking fee Rs.100/-

Visit here for understanding the history of Chamba and it's art. Got some beautiful postcards from here. Tickets cost is only fifty rupees per person. Many of the sections have stone inscriptions from temples and fountains dated back to 7th century A.D. Also there were coins about 1200 years old. You can also view some paintings here.

Visited this place. Ticket charges were Rs.50 per person & camera charges were Rs.100 extra. When I went inside, there were different collections of mode of payment used to be in ancient times. There were some different things but not everything. So it was ok for me. Art lovers might like this place. There was common washroom which wasn't good. Parking facility is also not there.

The collection of museum is good but the description about the exhibits is very poor. Some of them had worse spelling mistakes enough to change meaning of the context.

A nicely curated museum. Entrance fee is Rs.50 looks expensive in India as normally the entrance tickets are Rs.10 for government museums.
The artifacts are from Chamba area but well presented. History buffs would not regret going here. Others may skip if they feel the ticket is expensive

I recently went on holiday trip to see beautiful valley of HP i.e. chamba, Khajjiar and manali. Chamba is a nice place. The serene atmosphere created by the vastness of the azure sky, the ravishing beauty of the green valley and dense forests besides vistas of majestic snow-clad Himalayan peaks make a perfect pastrol scenery. i have seen many places and much more beautiful than this and much more romantic. And espically the people of HP r very kind hearted, they really love and take care of their tourists. I love HP's people.

The Sui Mata Temple, a renowned Hindu temple in Chamba, offers visitors an opportunity to explore its historical significance. Situated on a hilltop, this temple provides panoramic views of Chamba town. It was constructed by King Verman in remembrance of his beloved queen Rani Sui Mata. The fascinating story behind the goddess adds to the temple's allure. One can also plan their visit during the fair organized here.

Very nice peaceful temple with very few visitors on regular days. It's a small temple as seen in the pictures. The place is very serene. It has good view of the Chamba valley and also see snow clad mountains.
We visited here on our visit to Chamba.
Few tips:
1. When you reach the place you can park your vehicle on the side of the road and take the staircase. Please note that there is no signboard mentioning the name of the temple. Also, unlike most Hindu temples there are no Prasad shops or people selling anything here.
2. It's a steep 10 min climb on these stairs to reach the temple.
3. After doing Darshans it'll be a pleasure to sit down there and watch the crowded Chamba township.

Sui Mata Temple stands as an honour to the sacrifice of Queen Sui- the wife of King Sahil Varman. The temple is situated in the Saho village of Chamba district and is a paradigm of sacrifice. It's decorated with beautiful painting that depicts the life of Sui. A fair is organized every year at this place which begins on 15th March and continues till the first of April. Married women and girls flock to this place with offerings to pay respect to the great queen. Hence, a visit to this holy place will offer you great insight into the numerous traditions and culture of Chamba.
There is a hidden story behind the foundation of the temple. Long ago, there was a heavy rainfall in the region and due to this issue, King Sahil Varman tried various ways to impress gods and so he started giving offerings to the gods. After suffering from great pain and stress, he left his throne to fulfil the requirement but there was no water for years. Then, he consulted Brahmins and religious advisors who advised the king would have to sacrifice his son or wife to bring water in the region. Though, it was very difficult for him to do so but with a heavy heart the king decided to sacrifice his son. But her wife could not see his son giving sacrifice and so she sacrificed herself instead of his son. After she died, her body and her close maidens were buried around the premises of temple. Very soon, water began to flow in the village and from that day the scarcity of water is never seen in the region.
The temple is constructed on Shah Madar Hill and has three parts. The first one is the main temple steps which were made by Rani Sarda, the wife of the king Raja Jit Singh who leads to the Sarota stream. Second is a passage and third is the memorial of Queen Sui. However, the shrine has been built as a temple and people make offerings in this temple.

Jai Mata Di
Sui Mata Temple is located at upper terrace in Chamba town in Himachal Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to Queen Sunayana, a queen of Shaila Varman. Over 1,000-year-old, Suhi Mata temple at Chamba is an inseparable part of its cultural heritage. Sui Mata Mela 2022 date is April 10 to April 13. Sui Mata, as she was popularly called, was buried alive, having willingly agreed to sacrifice her life to propitiate the gods and thus bring water to the newly formed capital. The temple, approached by a series of stone steps constructed later, marks the spot where the queen stopped to rest on the way to her death. During the 10th century CE, the Chamba area in Himachal Pradesh had no rain for years and King Sahil Varman tried to please the gods in almost all possible ways but nothing worked. He finally consulted the oracles and sorcerers who told him that he needed to sacrifice either his wife or his son to bring water to his kingdom. With a heavy heart, the king decided to sacrifice his son but his wife, Queen Sunayana, could not bear the son getting sacrificed so she sacrificed herself.
