Have a small a small cave simulate the coal mining activity. The chimney and the mini garden is beautiful.

Small museum that tells the story of the mine, the work and the lives of the miners. there is very little left but the historical reconstruction is worth at least a visit. The highlight is "The Chimney". Free entrance.

Nice place. Can go hike the secret-but-not-so-secret chimney trail. Go in and park here. You can find a spot to go hiking. It'll be a loop trail. Hopefully you can follow some of my pics to know which are the landmarks so that you won't get lost. You'll have GPS here so I don't believe you will. Also locals are friendly. Do ask if you get lost. Hope that helps.
Surrender Point is a significant historical landmark that commemorates the event of Japan surrendering to Australian forces during World War II. It marks the spot where this momentous occasion occurred, and serves as a lasting tribute to those who fought and sacrificed for peace. This memorial is an important reminder of the past, reminding us of the devastation caused by war and highlighting the importance of working towards global harmony and unity.
The famous historical site in Labuan Island is definitely none other than the Japanese Surrender Point. This is where the Japanese officially surrendered their ruling on Labuan to the Australian in charge. About 50 meters away from the surrender point, the ceremony of signing and the handover took place. Lieutenant General Masao Baba officially handed his sword as a sign of handover to Major General George Wootten during the ceremony. This ceremony marks the end of World War II in Borneo. Another interesting and historical fact towards this Surrender Point is that this is the place where the trials of the first war crime were conducted in the whole of South East Asia. The nearest attraction that is too having historical means is the Peace Park. The park is built by the Japanese right next to the Surrender Point as they felt sorry for the trouble caused by their forefathers in the past. The park acts as a tribute to respect and appreciate the scarification of the lives that are involved in the World War II. Just as its name, the Peace Park marks the promise between Malaysia and Japan on peace and friendship.
The accommodation in Labuan Island is not much of a different compared to other places around the world. The beautiful island offered various kinds of resorts and hotels all depending on your budget and preference. From budget bed and breakfast to high end luxurious hotels are all up for your pick. Spending a night or two in Labuan is a must as it has a lot to offer. The last thing you have to do before heading home is to shop for duty free goods. A wide range of duty free goods are offered and provided by the easy access duty free shops around the city centre of Labuan Island.

Nice long stretch of beach here, the Layang Layangan beach. There were 2 stalls selling food here. We had light snacks at the one called Corritos. It was surprisingly very nice. We ordered the fajitas, nachos and churros accompanied by the wind and sound of the beach. Lovely.
The Surrender Point is a located at the beach itself. Nothing much really, just a place in remembrance of the Japanese surrendering during WWII.

The beach was very quiet when I was there on a weekday. It was so peaceful. The sand was soft and the waves were lapping into the sand....so lovely.

Muzium Marin Labuan is a shell-shaped museum with marine life exhibits and a discovery room. It has floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a great view of the sea, where big ships can be seen. Entrance to the museum is free, making it an ideal place to bring kids for some fun time. The beach at the back of the museum offers a relaxing spot to enjoy the view while people jog or play volleyball in the evening.
Fun experience with kids here.. it's free admission ..the air-conditioning is good but some of tank still under maintenance..informative museum n infront of beautiful beach n got restaurant nearby..

While it's true that many of the exhibits are made of plastic rather than showcasing real marine life, the facility does provide valuable marine knowledge. Although it's currently free to enter, the focus should be on enhancing the authenticity of the sea exhibits, even if an admission fee is required. Nevertheless, it remains a worthwhile destination for those seeking marine education.

As a person who like marine animals and museums. This experience was underwhelming. Place is poorly maintained. Some of the fishes are either dying or dead already. Some aquarius are empty. People may argue this place is free hence no proper maintenance but hey wouldn't mind pay few dimes to keep it the place up and running. As much as the place is poor and sad, it does provide knowledgeable information for us to learn.

Set in a beautifully landscaped area, the Peace Park in Labuan, Malaysia, serves as a World War II memorial and poignant reminder of the horrors of war.
Labuan was under Japanese occupation for four years before being yielded to Allied Forces on 10th September 1945.
The park was built by the Japanese as a symbol of peace, harmony and friendship as well as a tribute to those who lost their lives in Borneo during World War II.

It's one of the better water-villages compared to some if not most in the neighbouring Sabah state, considering they were historically a part of each other. Main walkways are cemented.
