The Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan is a popular 14th-century temple complex that houses the revered golden statue of Buddha in Thailand. Locally known as Wat Yai, the main sanctuary may appear small from the outside but holds one of Thailand's most respected and replicated bronze statues, the Phra Phuttha Chinnarat. It is considered second only to Bangkok's Wat Phra Kaew's Emerald Buddha.
The most given elegant, respectness of this province and Thai people for many years.
Very nice buddha statue with golden color.

Most renowned temple in Phitsanulok. You must not miss this! Same as other Thai temples in general, don’t wear skirts or revealing clothing or you cannot enter.

We visited Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat on a Saturday in March. It was a little busy but soon found a free spot to park the car. No fee for parking. Outside the temple we made donations to get the candle, sticks, flower & gold leaf. We then lit the candle & sticks & placed them in the holders. We knelt & prayed & placed the flower. Then the gold leaf was placed on one of the many Buddha’s. We then entered the temple. No fee was asked for. Inside the Buddha figures & the temple itself are beautiful. Also the figures of the soldiers were very nice. We made more donations while we sat with the monk for a blessing. We probably stayed about 30 to 40 minutes inside. Took many pictures. Once outside there are other Buddha’s to see & the old ruins. Total time there around 2 hours. We bought some water but left to go find food elsewhere in Pitsanulok a bit quieter.

Its a must spot to visited if you are in Phitsanulok. Well-managed the parking lot can be a little bit tricky but i was fortunate enough to visited in the less crowded time.

A must visit Buddhist temple in Thailand, one of the most beautiful and one of the most popular Buddha statues in Thailand. Definitely worth the visit. There is free car park and while you are here you can visit another old temple across the road.
I try to stop by and pay respect whenever i can. But beware of the opening hours, i have been there just after the closing time.
Hope you would like it too. Although it is a busy place but find a cool spot and meditate. Just be there relax

Beautiful original gold Buddhas and temples from the ancient Sukhothai period of Thailand in Pitsanulok province. Reachable by train, car,and flight. Walk across the river to Wang Chan, and you'll see the beautiful ancient temples and palace foundation of Ayudhya's famous King Naresuan.

If you come to Phitsanulok, you have to come visit this temple. There is no entrance fee for this magnificent temple. As a mark of respect, remember not to stand up in the main prayer hall while you are taking pictures.

Important temple and full with the historical detail. Every single item named with the meaning that made us heartly pround of the story. The big buddha is really beatiful, calm and kind that help us feeling relief while we concentrate and stop thinking anything.
The location is on the bank of Nan River where is importat and nurich for the population in this part of Thailand. Also sit in the central of area that you will never get lost if you drive or walk. Warn the female visitors to not wear the shorts or shorter skirt otherwise you will not be allowed to get into the sanctuary to pay respect to the buddist sacre coeur there regarding the strict ancient culture. The tiny metal statue of elephant put aside of the big buddha in the sactuary for fortelling your wish by lifting up that elephant statue... Believe it or not, up to you! Many ancience heads, laps and stone bodies of buddha in the store show area that look really scary! There is the tourism tram for city tour in this temple as well.

The Pheun Ban Jao Tawi Museum, also known as the Sargeant Major Thawee Folk Museum, showcases a vast and impressive array of tools, textiles, and photographs from Phitsanulok Province in five traditional-style Thai buildings. The museum is accompanied by well-groomed gardens featuring native plants. Visitors can explore a traditional Thai kitchen and traps used for catching game, making it an excellent destination for those interested in cooking.
I am in love with place!!! I am glad that we made a move to visit to this museum. We took a metered taxi service to get there, from Topland Hotel, it costs us 66baht fares. (You can take Grab too)
Beautiful ancient collection, bring back a lot of nostalgia memories (for me). We bought the ticket for 50baht (each) and it worthy!
Wonderful place to experience Thai ancient tools & equipment, history, art & crafts and many more.
There is a mini mart in the museum, where you can get some cold beverages to refresh yourself!
I would love to come back again when I back to Phitsanulok.

Tens of thousands of pieces is get together as a treasure trove of history and Thai wisdom. An up-close history lesson and exhibition of the local area's customs, culture and evolution through the 20th century.
The museum and all of the exhibits are beautifully presented, and the staff are keen to answer any questions.
If you are interested in history, go early because it's easy to get lost in the many items on display and too soon, it's time to leave.
Time and money well spent.

I believe this is probably the only museum in Phitsanulok. However, interesting I must say. It was rather eclectic to say the least but one gets to learn about the history of the city, and of course the life of Sergeant Major Thawee and there are some very beautiful copies of the very famous local Buddha, Phra Buddha Chinnarat (from the second most important temple in Thailand, that is in Phitsanulok). Then, also some artefacts, local craft, and the general environment is very nice (wooden houses). There is also a small shop to buy some touristic things from (I think the only one I've spotted in Phitsanulok! ) :) you can buy a mini copy of Phra Buddha Chinnarat that has been blessed by the monks, amongst other things. Didn't have time to go, but the foundry is 2 minutes away in case you want to check it out.

All objects have a terrific background and history. Wish Thai to visit more, it is one of S.E.A. history, socio-culture hub. And if you have a chance, please try to talk with the founder and his son. Great respect to them. Folk that bring us back to the root, and mostly the ordinary people stories, it is touching.
Wat Nang Phaya is an elaborate temple complex that features ornate pavilions and shrines adorned with rich decorations. It houses a large golden Buddha statue and is considerably less crowded than neighboring temples despite being equally holy. Its history dates back several years, and it is renowned for being the birthplace of the famous amulet/small Buddha image Phra Nang Phaya.
One of Pitsanulok's historic temples is Wat Nang Phaya. There is nothing wrong with the location, only my emotions. I was quite dismayed to see what they had done with it. The temple has a walkway surrounding it that is similar to the ones found in other temples. There are trash piles along the path rather than Buddha statues. Finding the ideal angle for your shot is really difficult inside the temple. There are numerous setting blocks outside that hide the lovely thing. I feel very down.
Anatchai Nilsiri — Google review
Exponentially less crowded than the neighboring temple with no difference in holiness. We’d love to encourage all the buddhists across the country to come visit here more. Your peace of mind will be redeemed, or even reconstructed.

There are candles and incenses you can buy for praying.
On the night of December 29, we went to the market as this one was a street food festival in addition to the classic market which allowed us to see the real Thai atmosphere as 99% of the people were not its tourists but locals from Phitsanulok. We ate and enjoyed the music, it was very nice and nice, better than a classic restaurant

Not a lot going on, women's clothes, shoes, cosmetics and a few phone shops. Walk around the back of the stalls (along the river) and you will find good food stalls the whole length of the market

What a lot of the reviewers don't seem to understand is that this is a Night Market for Thai folks, it is not Western Tourist oriented. The bulk of the visitors to Phitsanulok are Thais and Asian Buddhists and they are there to see the famous and wonderful Phra Buddha Chinnarat. In terms of Night Markets then, this is their shopping area, while the produce and street food is located down by a train station about 700 meters away. It is for Asian folks with the usual selection of clothing and makeup, bras, jeans and panties and Tshirts, all in sizes far to small for me, fortune tellers, beer, herbal remedies and Thai style souvenirs. You will not see a lot of Westerners, in fact, I saw one other than myself on a beautiful Thursday night. To get there, just leave the train station and walk towrds the river. Waste of time. Hardly any visitors. Only selling the usual cheap clothes and souvenirs. The food areas were very quiet, and appeared to be very expensive. It looked as if this place has had its day.
Chan Palace an ancient palace located on the west side of the Nan River on the north side of Phitsanulok. It is the birthplace of King Naresuan the Great and was his residence when he served as viceroy. At that time, Phitsanulok was an important frontier city of Ayutthaya. The Fine Arts Department has registered ancient monuments and announced ancient land boundaries in 1994. There are many colorful chicken statues in different sizes along the walk way to the shrine which is the representative pet toy of King Naraesuan.
This is the must place for visiting in Phitsanulok.

Well maintained palace complex, with some lovely diorama. That said there was a lack of anything really interesting to see. The museum could really do with some things like
Weapons and armour
A film showing the elephant duel (the movie could just be shown in a loop)
Some displays about what life was like back then.
The king is revered like a god and you can leave offerings at the statue.
Everything was well maintained and the staff friendly but a little bit of extra exhibits could make it a lot better.
Nice that it's free and people are friendly.
The camp was as advertised and more! I spent two weeks there and was lucky to be the only guest for a few days and could enjoy private classes which helped me progress a lot. Private classes can also be booked in any case if you want to progress faster or are preparing for a fight, but the two daily classes are already really great. We also had yoga classes twice a week.
Jay, his family and all of the instructors are very welcoming, fun, and will do everything to make you feel at ease and feel included. I was a complete beginner and they adjusted to my level, while pushing me to do my best. They also have deep respect for the discipline, many instructors being formers Champions, and the camp has a personal feel to it.
The food is very good and the location in Phitsanulok gives it an even more authentic flavor seeing as this city is less touristic than Phuket for instance but offers a lot to see! Jay took us to see many different temples (amongst which the famous White Temple, a Chinese temple and Wat Yai in Phitsanulok is Thailand's second most popular temple). The breathtaking Sukhothai is not far as a day trip either. We went on mini adventures, which including swimming in a gigantic pool, bicycle riding, training by the river and next to temples, going for Thai massage, visiting night and morning markets, and giving alms to the monks - in a word, it was amazing! 😍
Overall highly recommend and will be back.

This place met and exceeded my expectations. It was a last minute decision and I was really not sure what to expect. I didn’t know much about Muay Thai.
It was the best decision, and I’m already planning my next trip back! I felt so safe and part of a family immediately. I was there solo, so feeling included and taken care of was so nice. JP was very welcoming, and JP and his parents are the most amazing chefs and I’m so thankful for all the amazing meals. Kristian was such a dependable, knowledgeable and helpful driver/trainer. And Kru Chan brought such a fun and positive energy to every training session. All the trainers were amazing! The excursions and family trips were always an amazing time too. There was literally nothing I didn’t like about this experience. I am always planning my next trip and can’t recommend this enough. Thank you JP and your amazing team! ☺️🙏

I had planned to stay only a week but enjoyed training at this gym so much i stayed a week more!
All the coaches here are multi-time champions and have a ton of experience under their belts. They will structure your training depending on your skill level.
You can do group classes or choose private. I opted for private classes. What i love is that they have you warm up really well with various stretches and drills before you get training and also warm down with stretching as well.
Training: shadowboxing drills, pad drills, bag drills, and sparring! The bread and butter is Muay Thai, but i was in luck as there’s a Western Boxing teacher there as well who was a champion! There’s a weight lifting section along with cardio machines, tire hammers, and battle ropes.
The coaches: They can relate to the fighters well, they don’t over-preach, and they do a ton of motivating!
The Property: They have accommodations on sight and also a kitchen where they will make you some delicious food. There’s also a Seven Eleven within a minute walk away, and a Yoga studio next door!
The people: All of the coaches are down to earth and friendly. The reason why i stayed longer is because of how welcoming the atmosphere is. They all want to see you succeed. In just a week i felt part of the family and didn’t want to leave. All of the people training there came from different backgrounds. All of them were amazing and super humble.
I can’t wait to go back. I’m already looking at plane tickets. Thank you for everything! See you again soon!

There is no better gym than JP in Thailand. Here is more than whatever you imagine. At first, now that I wanted to focus on western boxing, I was worried because most thailand gyms focus on muay thai. But it turns out totally wrong. JP can provide professional western boxing training with "handsome" Chan who is a former WBC asia boxing champion and Kristian who is a professional muay thai fighter having Samart techniques. For food they provide, it is perfect to fuel enough carbs and protein. They also provide vegetarian food if you want. All JP family is so kind whenever you come across. One day, when I walked toward my accommodation, one of JP family found me and took me on his motorbike to my accommodation. Plz don't hesitate to go to JP boxing gym.

Training with Jay and his crew at JP Boxing has been one of the best experiences of my life. Located between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok offers a unique taste of the Thai countryside. The town, small and off the beaten path has a wonderful collection of temples and markets to explore.
At the gym, the trainers were not only extremely knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind and welcoming. They motivated and pushed me to do far more than I ever imagined was possible, so I was able to quickly improve my fitness and refine my fighting skills.
After training, Jay would put on his chef’s hat and spoil us with restaurant quality meals. Using all the freshest ingredients each meal was well balanced and delicious.
I hope to make this an annual trip as I was truly transformative. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their fitness, work on their mental health, become more confident or for kick-boxing enthusiasts wanting to go pro.
I really can’t thank them enough for the time I was able to spend there.

What an experience. I had very limited Muay Thai experience before going to JP. The moment I walked in I was met with the warmest welcome from the Trainers and staff. I stayed on site which was nice and convenient. The food was really good and varied everyday. Jay and the trainers Chan and Berenung as well as Braeden were brilliant, they have a wealth of experience between them and made the training fun but pushed us as well which made it very enjoyable. We also trained by a beautiful lake one morning which was simply glorious. Jay and Poi were great throughout and on hand to arrange yoga and massages after training as well as organizing trips to temples and other events. There aren’t many distractions training at this gym in Phitsanulok but yet plenty to explore locally. I found I got a lot of time with the trainers which is hard to find elsewhere. The perfect balance. Thank you to the JP family and I look forward to returning soon to train here again. The highlight of my trip. I, genuinely, didn’t want to leave.
Located near the Sergeant Major Thawee Folk Museum, the Buranathai Buddha Casting Foundry is a fascinating place where bronze Buddha images of various sizes are crafted. Visitors are invited to observe the casting process and explore photo exhibits showcasing the lost-wax method of metal casting. Some larger images can take over a year to complete. It's recommended to visit with a local guide for deeper insights into the manufacturing process and history behind these sculptures.
Interesting place, I came here after visiting the SGT. MAJ. Folk Museum nearby. It's nice to see the different steps of how a Buddha status is made. I think you'll have a better understanding if you get a (local) guide to join you here for more info but no must.

A very interesting temple, although not as big as I've thought.
One of the reasons that this temple is still standing is because of it's long history. Within the ruin you can still see a few beautiful pieces which stood the weathering of time.

Wat Chedi Yot Thong is a small temple located in Phitsanulok, featuring an ancient Sukhothai-style pagoda dating back to the 16th century. The unique stupa with a lean size and tall tower has been renovated several times over its 700-year history.
