The Mysore Palace, an Indo-Saracenic palace completed in 1912, is one of India's most splendid royal buildings and the second-most-visited sight in the country. It served as the seat of the Wodeyar maharajas and was rebuilt after a fire devastated the original structure in 1897. The extravagant interior features a vibrant array of stained glass, mirrors, and bright colors.
One of the mouth struck experience. Mysore palace is must visit place, still the heritage of the city is well maintained.

A very well kept palace worth taking the time to visit. Lots of local tourists, too.
The architecture is amazing. Lots of photo ops. The rose garden was in bloom and we could admire it from afar.
The upper sections will attract viewers who have to walk through barefooted.
Security checks at entrance and bags have to be screened. The personnel handled the crowds well.
On Sundays and public holidays the palace is lit up spectacularly from 7pm to 8pm making for good photo-op.

Mysore Palace is a majestic architectural marvel that showcases the grandeur of Indian royalty. The intricate detailing, stunning domes, and beautiful courtyards leave visitors in awe. The palace is steeped in history and cultural significance. The highlight is the breathtaking night lighting, where thousands of lights illuminate the palace, transforming it into a magical sight. The play of colors and the reflection on the surrounding water creates a mesmerizing ambiance. The lighting ceremony is a must-see, as it brings the palace to life in a captivating way. Inside, the palace is equally captivating, with opulent halls, intricate artworks, and a glimpse into the royal lifestyle. A visit to Mysore Palace is a journey into the past, and the enchanting night lighting adds an extra layer of charm to this iconic landmark.

This is the main attraction and beauty of Mysuru. People including foreigners visit this place. Must visit place. If you are staying in Sunday night, must not miss the illumination view from 7-8pm. I was lucky to see the beauty of this palace in sunlight, evening light and special Sunday evening light. It was one of my life time experience.

Exploring the impressive palace was a captivating experience, featuring a vast array of rooms showcasing fascinating artifacts. The palace's charm is further enhanced by a beautifully landscaped garden, where occasional glimpses of elephants and camels contribute to the overall allure.
While the visit provides a fascinating insight into royal life, it's important to note that limited wheelchair access may restrict exploration of certain areas. Despite this limitation, the palace remains a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, offering a rich and immersive journey into the regal past.

The palace is really nice. Recommended tourist spot. They maintained without fading the ancient touch. All are properly maintained. They restricted rooms, places to visit in the palace yet properly guided. The photographs or paintings are explained along with them in the wall. Ticket fare is 100 for adults and 50 for children.

It is a place worth watching to anyone. I am glad that we enjoyed, and I got more archaeological and historical since then! It took me out on a voyage of thrones and kingdoms , I just wish everything goes back to monarchy and kingdoms and archery. I loved the whole tour and for beginners like me.
It's a palace and it's surroundings and exhibition of stuff. There are night lights in the evening and we can check out the rest in the morning;
I enjoyed it

One of the best historical monuments/palaces I have ever seen. It is very neat and clean. Beautiful palace, but built in collaboration with Britishers.
And now the access is very limited. Earlier when i visited back in 2015, there were lot to see. Now lots of restrictions inside palace.
On weekends and holidays, the palace will be lit with thousands of lights (from 7pm to 8pm) to give it a golden look.

One of the most beautiful palaces in India. It has amazing exteriors that are strategically lit at night for an amazing visual treat.
Day time and night time experiences are different.
Go on a weekday to avoid crowds.
Entry charges are high
Indoor visit requires leaving foot wear at the counter that also has additional queue.
Must visit

One of the most beautiful palaces I've ever seen. It is best to visit the palace twice, once during day time and once in the night to enjoy the light and sound show. During the day you will enjoy the wonderful architecture of the palace. The palace lights up at night and is very beautiful.

Well maintained and clean. The palace is really beautiful with a big garden type area in front. It looks more beautiful at night with all light's decorations. Worth visiting. Though try to buy tickets online in advance, especially during weekends. Try not to go there in summer as it gets really hot inside.

The Mysore Palace is beautifully stunning. The carvings, paintings, the colours and sheer magnificence all just spectacular. It is a photographer's paradise. It's a must visit for people who love architecture.
If you can visit during Dussera festival you will see a grand celebration and illumination of the palace, with processions etc. Also, every sunday evening the palace is illuminated for few hours.

Amazing place to visit, we had the luxury to visit at the time when there was minimum crowd so clicking pics was fun and easy. Palace itself is mesmerizing with such a view and space, there are plenty of space around palace too for taking leisure walks.
Inside of palace is also very nice, the condition it is in well preserved and all items are stored very safely.
Only if they could've added a small brief on the items we are seeing would've been cherry on the cake.

The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens is an animal zoo located adjacent to the Karanji lake and has been in operation since 1892. The zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, including exotic species, and is highly popular with tourists. The gardens are well-maintained and feature large gardens with a lake.
I had visited in end Apr 2022 on a Sunday. Very good and well maintained zoo. ₹100 entry fees for adults, if children are below 5 years age no need for entry ticket. ₹100 if you have separate camera irrespective of type. Walking distance is around 3 km it will take around 3 hours if you want to see all birds, animals. Battery car is also available for which you need to take ticket after getting entry ticket. On entering zoo, you need to pay refundable deposit of ₹10 for every plastic bottles you have and they will label it. On exiting the zoo, show these bottles and get refund. Most of the people get exhausted at exit, so probably we won't go back to the place for refund. Good thing is that the exit gate is leading directly to car parking. So you can easily go to your van or car at the parking lot. Most of hotels around the zoo are vegetarian. this is the only drawback. Since it was a holiday time for kids, the zoo was very much crowded. Due to this during lunch time you hardly get seats at the nearby restaurants and will not have much varieties to order. Hotels nearby serve mostly rice plates during this peak hours.

Mysore Zoo, also known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, is a popular tourist attraction and one of the oldest and most well-maintained zoos in India.
It is home to a wide variety of animal species, including many endangered and exotic animals.
Visitors to Mysore Zoo can witness over 150 different species of animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinoceros, orangutans, and various types of birds and reptiles. The zoo also has a separate enclosure for nocturnal animals, where visitors can observe creatures such as bats, owls, and hedgehogs.
It has successfully bred several endangered species, including the Indian rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger.
The zoo also offers several amenities for visitors, including a battery-operated vehicle for sightseeing, a food court, and various information kiosks. It is open on all days of the week except Tuesdays and offers a unique opportunity to get up close with wildlife in a safe and controlled environment.
Overall, Mysore Zoo is a must-visit destination for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts, providing an immersive and educational experience for all ages.

It's always good to visit this zoo with good varieties of animals and birds. New animals are also filling the place as the old ones are expiring.
Maintenance has increased tremendously with good focus on customer experience and safety.
Glass barricades are a good addition but it has to be cleaned occasionally.
Feels that animals are well maintained with good flow of adoptions in the recent days.
No special value for animal adopters (which is seen in other zoos). Even a small gesture like a returnable ID card would also attract more people. Even adoption boards for less than 20k amount are not put.
Parking space, entrance and other amenities are increasing day by day, which attracts more and more tourists.
Overall, a fine place for 2 to 3 hours of time.

Wonderful experience especially if you are with kids. The animals look healthy and well taken care of though in captivity. However, the enclosures are big and give the animals a lot of space to move about.
The electronic buggy shuttles make it easier to see the entire place for those who may have knee problems or maybe tired.

1. Very Big zoo. It will take 3-4 hrs to cover entire zoo.
2. The zoo was very crowded in weekend.
3. The management is very concern about the environment but the proper execution and co-operation from public can be better.
4. There are lots of birds and animal, I didn't find in another zoo.
5. Dedicated parking is available for both 4 wheeler and 2 wheeler. 2 wheeler parking charge : Rs. 40 /bike. This is only applicable for 4 hrs parking. If you are extending this time they'll charge you more.
6. There are drinking water and toilets available in zoo at many places.
7. You can also finds few shops for snacks inside zoo.

The Mysuru Zoo is one of the cleanest ones you'll see in the country. The animals are always seen in a hygienic environ. And you have a large variety of them including Gorillas and Giraffes which are hard to find in most zoos. Children will have a memorable time although the zoo lacks a safari ride. They have golf Cart rides but these have long wait times so that part needs to be maintained better. Walking through it'll take at least 2 hours so please plan that much time.

It is hard to rate a zoo because it is essentially animals trapped in a cage for the entirety of their existence but if you put those sentiments aside, the zoo offers interesting facts of all the animals on the boards in front of the cages, regarding what they eat, how endangered they are and where they are from.
Most of the cages were well maintained however the lions looked very malnourished, or could possibly be old age. It was sad to see. The water in the ponds were not refilled so the tiger had nothing to lie in to cool down.. the zoo can be doing a lot better to take care of these animals considering the amount of people visiting each and every day.
Nevertheless, the gorillas and chimpanzees were a sight to see as they made moves for us all and tried to make us laugh..the gorilla is extremely endangered so it makes sense they are preserved in a zoo..
When you visit, make sure to not feed the animals or tease or scare them. They have feelings too. You also have options to donate to the cause by adopting the animals..

There is a lake, called Karanji which i wasn't able to visit as it required a ticket of its own but it wasn't mentioned anywhere near the ticket counter. There are souvenir shops, a restaurant and a Mysore sandal shop inside the zoo too. Don't miss the bird enclosure as it has many birds moving freely and is really beautiful.
An advice from my side: there are many places with free drinking water where you can fill up your bottle, but if you don't have a bottle and buy one from the restaurant, make sure to keep the bottle with you till the end and there will be a counter where you can give the bottle back to get Rs10 back per bottle.
(going to upload only some photos as i didn't take that many photos)

A really nice place to visit for animal and nature lovers. There are a huge variety of different animals that you can see.
The whole path is around 3km which might be difficult for some.
There is strict checking for plastic items like bottles, chips, etc. You'll also not find any snacks or beverages along the way except at one point. If you are bringing snacks, make sure to bring them in paper/non plastic bags.
Also be sure to carry water, hats and cooling glasses since it is extremely hot and sunny.
Plan to go early in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat.

Mysore zoo is very good place to visit with family.the place is crowded during weekens and public holidays. if you are with children then you can book electric vehicles. It will be better. Zoo is clean and wall maintend. Ro water also available inside the zoo. Nice experience to see giraffe closely.

It's a nice place but in the summer season every animal is struggling. We can see that. If they provide extra water to every animal they may feel chill.
Maintaining good and clean. The restroom and child care room are also there in lots of places. Drinking water is good.
The entire zoo will take 4 hours to cover.
Inside some little shops there to buy, eat but the thing is expensive.
This bustling market is known for selling various spices, flower and vegetable items, as well as rumoured to offer forty different types of bananas. The Devaraja Market is a true local experience with much to explore and purchase.

Devaraj Market in Mysore. It's lively and crowded. I also saw scenes of shouting and grabbing fights. Everything was photogenic and wonderful, with heaps of vegetables in primary colors, neatly portioned vegetables, and piles of brightly colored powder lined up side by side. It can be imagined that it is a desperate business that depends on one's livelihood, but I believe that India's underlying strength is that it is able to create such a beautiful market.
By the way, there was a street where only bananas were sold, which was amazing. However, is it possible to make a business by selling the same products in the same place? .

Busiest market in Mysore area. 100s of shops including busy flower stalls, fruit stalls, bakeries, vegetable stalls, Pooja stores, Stationaries, Oil shops etc. are there in the market.

Srirangapatna is a significant town situated in the Indian State of Karnataka. It serves as the headquarters of one of the seven Taluks under Mandya district and is located close to Mandya city. The region holds immense religious, cultural, and historical significance and has been established as a prominent tourist destination due to its rich heritage.
The Sri Nandi Temple is a popular tourist destination in Mysore, India due to its close proximity to the Chamundeshwari temple. The temple is dedicated to the sacred bull Nandi, and visitors are welcome to climb up to the hilltop shrine. The grounds are pleasant and a great place to relax after visiting the more popular attractions in Mysore.
This giant Nandi (Bull) image is located on top of Chamundi hill in Mysore. Over 350 years old, it is one of the oldest symbols of Mysore.
About 16 feet in height and 24 feet long, this Nandi atop the Chamundi Hills is the third largest in India. The creation of this colossal image is attributed to Dodda Devaraja Wodeyar (1659–1673) on of the illustrious Maharajas of Mysore. It is the same maharaja who also commissioned the 1000 stepped stairway to the hilltop.
Since our last visit 6 years ago, the entrance to this important bull sculpture temple has been closed to vehicles. As we visited the Sri Chamundeshwari temple above we chose to go down 300 steps to get to this one and of course we had to go back but worth to see the magnificent cow sculpture which has been cleaned and looks much better. I believe the alternative route involves climbing 1000 steps, so I recommend driving to the top and doing the 300 step workout
This is world's third largest nandi whereas first in Hampi, second in thanjavoor Tamil Nadu

You can reach this location either by foot by climbing stairs from Mysuru or by vehicle through dedicated paved one way road. There is also a Cave Shiva temple right next to Nandhi statue. This area been well maintained, there are many vendors including food and beverage. Watch for monkies because they love your food.

Sri Nandi Temple in Mysore is the bliss to visit when you plan for the Mysore trip from your place. The temple is very near to the Chamundeshwari temple and is just half the distance to the temple there is a 5m tall idol of Nandi the sacred bull of Lord Shiva. The temple premises are very pleasant and a must worth a visit for the devotional tourists.
Huge sized granite stone Nandi very well caved and nicely placed on hill. Nandi is mount of Lord Shiva and one finds and one finds Nandi at all Shiva temples. It also called Nandidurg or Nandi Betta.
This is Big Mandi a top Chamundi Hills Mysore. Must visit if you are in Mysore. Nandi is not at top most location of the hill but a little down. Either you park in top and walk down through steps a little or on way up or down park your car and walk sideways to be here. We need to walk a maximum 5 minutes. There are lot of stalls on sideways selling cut fruits and sugarcane juice but try them if you are confident of your stomach. A little walk down the steps from Nandi you see a marvellous view of entire Mysore don't miss that. Its the best view one can get ,The large of the Nandi is beautifully carved from a single rock in the ancient history of the Mysuru.

The Nandi idol on the way to Sri Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru is a breathtaking monolith that commands awe and reverence. As I approached the magnificent sculpture, I marveled at its colossal size and intricate detailing, a testament to the craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Compared to the ones in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, and Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu, this Nandi stands out for its sheer scale and imposing presence. While all three Nandi idols exude spiritual significance, the one in Mysuru holds a unique charm, perfectly complementing the divine energy of the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple and leaving a lasting impression on pilgrims and art enthusiasts alike.

An imposing and huge Nandi Bull statue on the hill is definitely worth visiting. From the Chamundeshwari temple, it's around 15 mins trek one way, downward journey towards the Nandi bull is ofcourse easier but the way back, same route, is a vertical and steep even though with stairs. If you do this trek, you get at least one superb view point for clicking pictures of the city from the hill

The Nandi is located almost at the ¾th the way to the hilltop. The main road to hilltop arrives at a "View Point" junction. The right fork leads to Nandi (2km) and the straight road leads to the main shrine of Chamundeswari further at the top of the hill. The 2km road to nandi is broken, so the only way to get there is walk 2kms. The road is flat and takes 20-30 min to reach. There is an old shiva temple in the cave behind the nandi.

A beutiful lake close to the famous mysore zoo. The way to the lake is through the middle of the zoo area.
Boating is available. But in this summer, better to avoid. Pedal blat is RS. 30 per person but the boat with operator will costs you 300 rupees (maximum 4 people) which is an utter waste of money. They will go one round maxm 5-8 minutes only and it is an open boat without any roof.

We can take a boat ride here at a very cheaper price. Also you can ride the boat yourself if you want to. It's a scenic place with variety of birds playing in the water. Keep your entrance ticket safe as you can use the same for zoo as well instead of standing in queue and buying tickets again in zoo. Food items are not allowed inside if they are packed in plastic. St. Philomena's Cathedral at Mysore is a great place to visit. Main thing, they have kept the entry free of cost. The architecture of the church is very grand and looks like any European church. They have provided parking space for cars behind the church. It's a very quite and peaceful place. We can sit on the benches and e joy peace of mind. There is a basement with few places of worship and one can exit through the narrow lane to the rear gate of church. There was no restriction on photography. They have kept the place clean. It's a unique architecture where there are 3 halls, one in front and other two on the either sides of the Pulpit (where Father stands for preaching). People can pray from all three sides (cross ➕ like structure). The colorful light rays enter the church from the stained glass windows of the church. It's a Beautiful church. The church is very crowded on the weekends.

Mysore's St. Philomena's Cathedral is a breath-taking work of art. Its breathtaking neo-gothic architecture is evocative of European churches. The cathedral's enormous size and its elaborate stained glass windows produce a calm and majestic ambiance. Equally striking are the interior features, which include soaring columns and a serene atmosphere. This holy treasure displays the city's deep heritage and dedication. St. Philomena's Cathedral is a must-see for anybody interested in history or religion. It provides an amazing look into the city's spiritual and architectural past. Because of the design of the church, this location is ideal for photographing pictures in the old style. The town is overly crowded, and parking might be challenging. No charge to enter.

St. Philomena's Cathedral in Mysore is a beautiful church with very tall towers and detailed designs Inside. It is one of the tallest churches in Asia.(177 feet approx.) Inside it is very calm and peaceful, making it an excellent place for thinking and praying. The outside looks grand, and the inside feels spiritual. It is a highly significant place to visit in Mysore because of its history and beauty. I just loved this church ❤️

This a majestic cathedral, known for its beautiful architecture. We visited it in the month of June and it a lovely day with clear skies and little clouds. Good place to see the European style of architecture and a place of worship for catholics. One can take good photographs and there are lot of people selling selfie sticks at the entrance. Usually crowded on holiday and weekends. Better to plan your visit accordingly.

A beautiful cathedral that is well-maintained. You feel this sense of divinity even when you just enter the cathedral grounds. Silence and sanctity is always observed inside the cathedral. The adoration chapel provides one the environment to delve into deep prayer. A must-see if you ever go to Mysore!

It will be a little crowded on the weekend.
Free parking lot available.

Again, no place of worship can be determined by the stars it receives because a religious place is about how one feels - spiritual or peaceful in such a place. St. Philomena's cathedral is one such place which I visit whenever I'm in Mysore. This church brings a sense of calm and peace.
The church has a sufficient amount of parking available inside the premises. Mass is carried out in three languages - Kannada, Tamil and English - timings of mass and weekly prayers have been shared in pics.

With the fame of being one of the largest churches in India, this majestic church captivates everyone with its architectural excellence. So as i do too It also boasts of being the second largest church in Asia. Dedicated to Saint Philomena, St. Philomena’s Church is not only known for its architectural beauty and religious significance; it stands as an exemplary of secular viewpoint and the religious harmony which existed in Mysore. This can be seen from the fact that this church was built by Mysore ruler for the European residents in the city..

Located in Mysuru city, the Sand Sculpture Museum showcases intricately carved sculptures made from sand. The museum is a privately maintained attraction and is a great place to visit if you're interested in art. The main attraction here is the 15-feet high Lord Ganesh idol made of sand, which is an amazing sight to behold. Aside from Lord Ganesh, the museum also showcases sculptures of various wildlife and ancient civilisations.
What a talented artist! it’s a small hidden gem, definitely go and appreciate the masterpieces she has created! I hope she gets the support and recognition to create and sculpt more.

If you are a art lover, do visit the place to look at the art work by a very young lady.
The space looks very small but you would definitely appreciate the work and the effort gone behind the work. There's a lot of detailing that has gone behind each piece of work.
They have tried to make the museum a bit engaging by adding other attractions in this small place like archery, 3D photo, couple of stalls(to make this place more commercial).
The carvings here was told to have taken 7-8 months to complete due to which they only have been maintaining the work for sometime now.
The entrance to the museum is ₹60/- per adult.

Stepping into the Mysore Sand Museum felt like embarking on a journey through an enchanting world crafted entirely from grains of sand. As I entered, I was immediately struck by the meticulous attention to detail evident in every sculpture. The dim lighting added to the ambiance, casting a soft glow that accentuated the intricate carvings.
One of the most impressive aspects was the sheer diversity of subjects covered in the sculptures. From historical landmarks to cultural icons, each creation seemed to tell a unique story, transporting visitors through time and space.
Overall, the Mysore Sand Museum offered a captivating blend of art, culture, and craftsmanship. It was a truly unique experience that left me inspired and enriched, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Mysore.

I had gone through the reviews before visiting this place and found so many negative reviews about people disgracing the place and the Art form! If this would have been some renowned artist, people would have blindly praised or at least not abruptly criticized! Whether the form is Sand art or not is not my focus, the passion and liveliness she has carved into this is priceless and more than amazing! The entire concept and connection of different themes and graceful expression for long 7 months is ultimate! I personally loved this place and would express immense love and bliss to the artist and her entire team including her father who is extremely humble to people visiting this place with no sense of pride but rich simplicity and politeness ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Visited this place in FEB 2023. Museum is located on the road of Chamundi hills. It too small place and some of the sand sculptures are good .It one time visit only.
Entry ticket is 60/- (Ticket is high as per the Place.
But one thing is inside the Museum one 3D photo shoot area is available and it’s good and free entry.
Time Taken : less than 1hr.
Overall :-
Please don’t waste too much time for this museum or better to avoid and use time in other activities in Mysuru.

The museum is located on the road to Chamundi hills and is visible from the main road. The museum is a work done by a solo artist and yes, it is too good.
The lady has got some serious skills. The entry ticket is only ₹60 which is a bit more than what I think will be commensurate to what the place has to offer. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the efforts and everything but given the number of people visiting this place ₹30-40 would have been a better price.
The place also has some local shops for you to buy local items and goods. The sand sculptures are really breath-taking and you are for sure going to be blown away by the skills this lady has.
She is the sole person who made all the sculptures and there is a little board which explains the story behind the same.
Kudos to the lady and I wish her all the best and as far as recommendation is concerned, yes, please visit this place to support talents and also see some masterpiece in front of you.

It is simply amazing how they can make the sand come to life with their meticulous attention to detail. Very beautiful business developed by sir and his family no one would have thought making sculptures and coating them with sand can become a money making tool my POV the sculpture were as is made in clay or something and then coated with sand the entry ticket is @60 per head for adult for a 10min sculpture seeing.
Frankly speaking if you're not going to take pictures over there don't go because it's not that intresting other then taking pictures I see the same old sculptures from 5 year ago Google review anyways.

And yes ofcourse you shouldn't miss the Toy Train, we had a great time, the ticket price is very less and you can enjoy 2 rounds in the toy train and can click some amazing pictures. Garden, the train engines, railway track everything is so perfectly placed and maintained. You will love this place at your first visit. Wheelchair is easily accessible there.

The museum is very close to the Mysore railway station. The museum is extremely clean and well maintained. Here you can get a lot of information about railways. The ticket is Rs.50 per person. There is no restrictions on photography. There is a cafe in a railway coach. There is also an audio room. Here is a mini toy train. From that we can ride the garden for 2 rounds. No separate fee is charged for it. The garden here is also beautiful. Toilets and drinking water is available. The coach saloon of the Queen of Mysore is kept here. A little statue of Common Man is a attraction point.

Probably the cleanest destination in the city. So well maintained. Lot of info on trains, cool displays, toy train ride, cafe. Spacious and green space. The huge trees and their canopy made it seem cool even in the hot sunny afternoon.

It is a good place for kids to enjoy. We can spend 1 hour atleast as there is a play area for kids. We visited the Railway museum while waiting for our train from Mysore. The toilet facility is good and maintained fairly enough for a public place. There is a snack bar and a gift shop where we bought few channapatna toys. Overall it is a good place to visit especially if you go with kids and if you have atleast 2 hours before your train journey commences.

The 9 ft tall statue, sculpted out of marble, has been mounted on a platform over which an Indo-Sarcenic style Mantap has been built. All the three circles now fall on one straight stretch of road with the statues facing north direction. An artificial water fall has also come up on the northern periphery of the circle.

This statue is a brilliant piece of artwork that instantly grabs attention of onlookers. Built in the memory of the erstwhile Wodeyar ruler, this intricately carved statue is worth clicking. It is strategically placed at the intersection of Ashoka Road and Albert Victor Road. This junction known by various names, such as Chamaraja Circle, Sri Jaya Chamarajendra Circle and New Statue Circle. Geographically, the statue faces the northern gateway of the Mysore Palace.

The Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, located in the city of Mysore, is a popular tourist destination that features paintings and carvings by renowned painters from around the world. The gallery also houses an elegant auditorium that is used for cultural events.
One of the finest art gallery ever seen. Front look of the building is maintained but original building at back side in poor condition. Some part of the building is renovated nicely. Cleanliness is maintained. Thousands of cores worth monuments, artifacts and original paintings are exhibited. Unfortunately inside of the gallery no photography allowed. Very few visitors visit this place. There is nominal ticket you need to purchase. If you are art lover or artist this is like treasure for you. Must visit place...

This is my favorite place in Mysore. After the burning down of the Mysore palace, the royal family used to live here for a few years. Here are famous paintings of famous painters of India. Some painting are by foreign artists aslo. Here is the National Award winning picture titled 'light of hope'. Many paintings look different if viewed from different angles. Apart from this, there is a music room with instruments from all over the world. This is a three storey building.
Besides, there are unique items made from ivory, silver, porcelain, bronze, crocodile skin, etc which was used by royal family. If you are interested in art and history then don't visit this palace without a guide. 50/- is the ticket. The museum is open from 8.30 am to 5 pm.

Also, if you are into art you will absolutely love this place as it has so many art paintings and murals. It also has Victorian era paintings and mural. Try not to take much pictures here of painiings, artifacts and murals.

Sad to see the demise of what was a great palace. From the outside the vegetation is overgrown. After leaving footwear by the door there is a promising start with a microscopic view of three grains of rice.
However the ground floor disappoints with poorly lit works of art that clearly require some effective restoration. There is a chunk of positivity when one of the staff showed me a position to view one of the portraits whose foot and eyes followed you around the room. The highlight of the ground floor was the incredible painting of the Mysore Palace in all its glory.
The second floor was a much better improvement with some incredible artwork and ornaments which once again is not illuminated to show of the true craftsmanship. Perhaps employing a cleaner would be a good start to remove the layers of fingerprints that obscure clarity of many of the objects.
The more contemporary pieces of artwork are incredible in both their vibrancy and colours. The separate setting for the "Glow of Hope" is perfect.
Finally the third floor offers not only some incredible musical instruments. It also has a room covered with an incredible fresco punctuated with vibrant colours that make the visit worthwhile.

This is an art gallery now..but it was as a temporary palace of kings when their main palace was burnt to ashes in a fire accident.
This intricately decorated huge pillared palace houses beautiful & unique paintings from kings' personal collection & also from royal painters of the kingdom.
There's a huge hall in the ground floor were events are organised.
Tickets are available at the entrance. Must visit for art enthusiasts & history geeks as it takes you back to the Wodeyar-British era through its life sized paintings & depictions of live then.
