The Nakaya Ukichiro Museum of Snow and Ice is an exceptional science museum with interactive displays and demonstrations. Visitors can learn about the science behind snow and ice through hands-on exhibits, while enjoying a riverside cafe. Although some signage is in Japanese, there are plenty of English translations available for non-Japanese speaking visitors to enjoy this unique museum dedicated to the study of snow and ice.
Assalamualaikum brother. This snow museum is in Komatsu. This museum has many educational equipments to explain about how the snow will be created. Entrance fee is 560¥ for adult and free for children. High school students and below are free as well. Parking area is free and spacious. There is a movie theater as well about snow creations. This museum is great place for families recreation. Recommendation place to visit in Komatsu.

A very interesting museum about one man's research into snow and ice. As with most Japanese museums, it is well designed with interactive aspects and multiple displays. We received a brochure in English but most of the exhibits are in Japanese only, we used Google translate on our phones. The architecture of the museum is incredible. Unfortunately we visited after the 2024 new year's earthquake and there was some minor damage to the exterior so we could not see all the building. The staff here are very lovely and helpful. If you are into science and scholarship you will enjoy this. The view alone is worth it.

Visitors can learn about snowflakes through materials and hands-on experience. Children will be very happy to experience fog as well. The explanations are basically in Japanese. The entire building has an interesting shape, and you can enjoy a walk in the surrounding park as well. It takes about one hour to walk around the entire building.

Perfect small museum to while away a few hours. Very family friendly. Ukichiro Nakaya had a fascinating life of research that sent him to Greenland, Hokkaido, Hawaii and more studying snow formation in order to understand what was needed for snow to happen. The movie was fascinating and there were several demonstrations on creating snow and what happens when it melts. Enough hands on exhibits to keep your child engaged. Don’t miss the fog installation by famous artist Fujiko Nakaya and the amazing tea room

Tsukiusagi no Sato is a popular tourist attraction that offers a unique experience for rabbit enthusiasts. The main building serves as an interactive hub where visitors can freely interact with more than 30 free-roaming rabbits while enjoying dining and shopping facilities. Automatic dispensers offer rabbit food options in regular and larger sizes at affordable prices, ensuring the rabbits' health and well-being are properly maintained.
A very cute place and it’s free to enter. You can buy food to feed the rabbits or put them on you lap as well.

Absolutely a paradise for rabbit lovers! I'm glad to see that the bunnies are well taken care of. You can buy rabbit food from the automatic dispensers. It costs 200 yen for a regular portion and 300 yen for a larger portion. The Ayatori Bridge is a striking metal footbridge in Japan, which curves and overlooks the steep Kakusenkei Gorge. It is illuminated at night, providing a stunning view of nature. The bridge offers free parking nearby and has a small shop in the city. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear for the brief walk to enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the river path leading to a waterfall.
A very very enjoyable walk along the river in the forest. All the way you can slowly walk and listen to the sound of waterfall. Very soothing and calming. The forest is very rich in nature, I found frogs and snakes along the way. There is a cafe where you can enjoy tea and Japanese style dessert but it was closed when I got there.

A must visit if you are in Fukui or Kanazawa. A day trip would be perfect even if you are not staying. Recommended visit on a sunny/clear sky day! Experience the nature and also try lots of food from little shops! And an onsen or ashiyu time would be great! Highly recommended.
The Korogi Bridge is a beautiful Japanese cypress structure that was once known for its perilous route and the crows that gathered there in autumn. It is a popular destination for visitors to Yamanaka Onsen, with a 1-kilometer promenade leading from Korogi Bridge to Kurotani Bridge where tourists can enjoy scenic walks throughout the year. What an amazing hidden gem! Really cool to see the statue from afar and then see how big it is up close (the baby in the arms alone is bigger than the Buddha at Nara). Also thousands of smaller buddha statues throughout the complex are worth visiting for the small fee alone. The facilities are for the most part abandoned except for a few older men and women working there as I assume volunteer work. This was built during the bubble economy, and was abandoned as best I could tell in 2012. Everything looks like they just picked up and left one day. It's interesting in the sense that it looks post apocalyptic. It's worth seeing as you won't find other places like this in Japan.

A defunct temple and overnight complex, but you can still walk around for ¥500 and, to be honest, it's still really cool. It's too bad the city or some private investor hasn't down anything with it because the buildings and statues and such that are still there are quite impressive.
There's the giant Buddha, of course, but there's also a diorama of Siddhartha Gautama's life (the historical Buddha), a 1,000 Buddha hall, a golden pagoda, and more, all in more or less good condition. If you don't mind the slightly eerie atmosphere (or maybe of you really like that kind of thing), it's totally worth the trip.

Sad and disappointing ryokan.
Obvious lack of investment with rooms that were terribly designed and not renovated in couple of decades.
The food was bad....this is not a ryokan experience but rather a cheap buffet with tasteless, unhealthy industrial food. Absolutely not what you expect when going to a ryokan and eating your dinner and breakfast there.
As for the staff...I'd ask where was the staff? Only a couple of people working there and struggling to cope.
As for the pool, same feeling of lack of renovation, and a building that was designed by a drunk architect (never seen such small locker room for such a large hotel).
Overall, a hotel that is visibly struggling and is lowering standards everywhere to survive. The issue is that for the same money there are much better ryokans in the areas.

The Kutaniyaki Art Museum is dedicated to showcasing historic Kutani porcelain from the early Edo to late Showa periods. The museum has permanent exhibits of Kutani and Aka-e inscriptions, and regularly changes its exhibition on the first floor. Additionally, there is a coffee shop and a shop on the second floor for visitors to enjoy. One unique feature of the museum is the Suikinkutsu in the hall that produces great sound.

I think this is a shame that i’ve paid 300usd a night and got a room right next to the restaurant and the restaurant toilet. The room has absolutely no privacy that they even have to put stickers on the window so the restaurant wont see me while i am having onsen. ( once you open the window, the restaurant windw is 10 meters away from you.) if i cannot open the window and enjoy the view, why would i not pay 400yen for public bath outside?
The worst part is, the room is right above the hotel heating system that was loud all day and night. And also the toilet has a very strong sewage smell.
You charge your customer this money and give them this? Absolutely wrong to do business like this. I am not sure if it is because i am a foreigner that’s why i am given this.
Any hotel would only use this room as storage room! This should not be a hosting room at all!
Ruined my holiday.
Please compare my pictures with what the hotel put on the internet, then you will know what i mean.
Lastly, it is super easy to say thanks for your feedback, and we will investigate. YOU know what kind of room you’ve provided to your customer, no excuse at all. Please stay away from this hotel property.

Ishikawa Prefectural Institute for Yamanaka Lacquer Ware (Ishikawa Prefectural Training Institute of Woodturning)
The training center in Yamanaka, called Ishikawa Prefectural Institute for Yamanaka Lacquer Ware or Ishikawa Prefectural Training Institute of Woodturning, is an impressive place where students engage in a diverse range of traditional arts and create beautiful artworks. The talented instructors produce remarkable pieces that are reflected in their prices.
What a cool place! The students all train in a variety of traditional arts and make some lovely work. The teachers make some stunning pieces, and you’ll find that reflected in the price. If you’re stopping in Yamanaka for the Onsen, this is worth the visit if you’d like the novelty of turning wood bowls in the traditional style, or to buy some truly choice Japanese lacquerwork.

The Kitamaebune Ship Museum is a fascinating attraction that showcases the history of the iconic shipping vessels that operated in the Sea of Japan during the Edo and Meiji periods. Housed in a meticulously preserved estate originally belonging to a kitamaebune ship owner, the museum offers an immersive experience into this significant aspect of Japan's maritime heritage. Visitors can explore various exhibits featuring ema votive tablets, model ships, sailing instruments, and furniture used on these historic vessels.
A hidden gem. Support this local museum and you enjoy a wonderful visit.

Interesting museum about the economic influence and power of the local family. Unfortunately not much is written in English, but there is an English pamphlet.

(Translated by Google) I visited on New Year's Eve.
It was raining so there weren't many customers.
The mansion of the owner of the Kitamaebune at that time has been turned into a museum, and you will be amazed not only by the exhibits but also by the size and construction of the mansion.
It's well worth the entrance fee, but it's a pity that there are so few souvenirs.
It is a short walk from the parking lot to the facility.

(Translated by Google) This museum is indispensable for historians who enjoy the Edo and Meiji periods. The history of Kitamaebune seems to have been one of Japan's major distribution industries. Somehow, it reminds me of the luxurious life of the rich people in the "rural countryside" of the past. One day's visit is not enough.

(Translated by Google) This is a spoiler, but there is a model of the Kitamae-bune on display that sailed from Kamigata (Osaka) to Hokkaido in the spring and returned in late fall. There were also boat chests, boat Buddhist altars, etc., and it is said that while they made a fortune through their voyages, there were times when they gave up all their supplies and offered prayers when they encountered a storm. Unlike today's freight-rate logistics system, the company also had a role as a financial trading company that purchased supplies. I can see that it was a high risk...😲

I drove here by myself, and there happened to be a Taiwanese tour group so I followed them. The owner of the garden only gave us about 20 people two greenhouses for picking. The owner had already picked a plate of all-red strawberries for everyone to share, but there were no I didn’t eat the big ones at first because I thought it would be most delicious if I didn’t pick them myself. Then I picked a few and ate them. They were really delicious and not too sweet. You can tell by looking at the picture that they were picked by yourself. You can eat it whole, it's delicious, and it's not too sweet. If the request is too high, we will not discuss it. I asked a Taiwanese tourist and she said she had been to this garden before and the quality of the strawberries was about the same. She said she had also been to Kinugawa, but why did she come to this garden again? Just because she likes strawberries, she doesn't mind too much. The whole experience is good, it will be better if it is treated as a season

This time we took advantage of the barbecue and grape picking.
The barbecue area has plenty of seats and a roof, so it's comfortable to use, but since I used it at the beginning of September, there were a lot of mosquitoes, so I couldn't enjoy the barbecue.
I would like to ask for countermeasures during the summer.
The grape variety we picked was Aurora Black, which is large and satisfying to eat.
The grapes were a little warm in the heat, but they were sweet, rich, and delicious.

Bashō no Yakata Museum is a well-maintained Japanese garden with a tea room, offering great insight for those interested in the tea ceremony. The building itself showcases unique Japanese construction methods and features an interesting stone statue outside that can be interpreted differently by each viewer. There are several parking lots nearby and it's free, but there is a fee to enter the building.

Yamanaka Yakiku Hataorajyu no Nihohi
Snoring under the waves
Autumn wind flickering through the leaves of a peach tree
The remains of the hot water tonight, my skin is cold
From today onwards, the dew on the hat is erased.

There are two bronze statues titled. During the [Oku-no-Hosomichi] trip, Sora, who had been accompanying us until then, became unwell, and we decided to leave Yamanaka Onsen and head to Ise/Nagashima. The two meet again in Mino and Ogaki.
The haiku in which the two people committed their feelings to each other when they parted is written on the explanatory board.
Haginohara Sora, who was walking and bowing down
