We had a fantastic tour of the winery. This is the only winery in Katsunuma we found that provides an English speaking tour. Experience the granite fermentation tank that was the method used before switching to mainly American and French oak. Japan's oldest family owned winery, established in 1885.

Nice winery visit when in the area. They have a tasting room with quite a few bottles for sampling, and a big shop as well.
They give you a card and you can do the tasting as you wish, then you pay at the end.

The wine tasting was fun, the views and countryside are beautiful, and the service was amazing, but in the land of culinary delights the food couldn’t compare to hole in the wall diners down the street. Of our five courses, the first two had me wishing there had been salt or fresh pepper or anything to give them flavor, the fish was delicious but clashed with the cabbage it was served with, the steak was heavenly, and the desert was alright. The whole meal was a confused mass of cultures. They should do what Europe does, and have a wine list pairing to go with the meals, the wine by glass often didn’t complement the food. It’s a hit and miss, expensive tourist trap restaurant. The wine taste was very similar to bland, forgettable mass-marketed California-style wines.

Recently, I have more chances to drink wine, so I decided to go there once.
Advance reservations are required for winery tours.
We will go around in order while receiving explanations from the vineyard to the production of wine.
I felt the history of seeing the stone warehouse before it became the current stainless steel tank.
I just use a portable speaker when explaining, but when talking while moving, I have to turn the speaker backwards
It is hard to hear for the customers who follow from behind.
The tasting system was excellent. It was a touch panel type and 20ml was automatically poured once, so I could taste it without worrying about the clerk, but it is a pity that the number of types in the case was small probably because it was a corona virus.
Only the amount of tasting is postpaid. You can also use electronic money.
The tasting space is also a table using barrels
The social distance was maintained.
However, only one glass was given, so I thought I wanted to rinse it.

Highly recommend stopping by this winery while in Yamanashi. It is also very close to the Chuo expressway Katsunuma IC/exit if you are just passing through. There were many options for tasting ranging from 200 to 400 yen per 20ml. Staff provided English instructions and wine descriptions, it couldn’t be easier. Previously, I used the restaurant and shop, but this time I ordered a tour of the winery and I think I was able to have a valuable experience. First, you will be introduced to the vineyard, where you will be given an explanation of the grape trellises, varieties, and how to grow them, then move on to the area where the wine is squeezed. Finally, you will enter a building with a basement lined with barrels where the preparation process takes place. Here, there is also a place where you can make historically valuable stone warehouse preparations, so after the tour, I added it to my list of things to purchase. The guide's explanations were detailed and easy to understand, so it was a fun experience to deepen my knowledge of wine.

Among the European paintings displayed are works by Millet, which adds to the museum's diversity. The grounds are adorned with numerous statues and sculptures but may be too cold to appreciate during certain times of the year. Aside from the exhibitions, visitors can enjoy dining at the on-site restaurant.
Had a chance to visit this museum when they had the works of two Mongolian artists. The collection of Francois Millet is present at all times as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the art and the displays.

We enjoyed viewing the amazing collection of pieces by Jean Francois Millet within this museum. There were pieces by a variety of artists as well as clay pieces by Tadahiro Ogawa- Jomon statues. The museum also has a wonderful restaurant that had delicious food choices- several themed from various works of art being showcased in the museum. The museum was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Food at the cafe & resto was as amazing as the oil paintings, healthy and i loved it!

While it is wonderful to have an art museum in town, the collections aren’t the most impressive, but I am no art critic.
The park is the true reason to go to the area, the park is always full of families (and so many dogs) and a great place for an afternoon picnic.
For a relaxing Sunday afternoon I recommend enjoying the park and skipping the museum!

I visited the museum with my husband and 3year-old daughter. And got strong feeling that the museum unofficially refuses small kids.. We've been never given this many precautions in public places before.
They asked us not to let go of our kid's hand, not to have her anything in her hand and etc.. even my daughter was already in my husband's arm when they tell us precautions, we felt so disturbing and guilty with the fact that we have a kid with us..
During at the exhibition room, we again was told from another staff member the same precautions we had already heard at the entrance..
Even considering that the museum keeps masterpieces and they need visitors to be cautious but this is excessive.
I've visited many other museums in Europe and have seen parents enjoying arts with their children, discussing about art pieces freely. I think that's how a museum achieve their most important goal, "to provide people with a place where art is blooming by educating and inspiring young generation"
In this term, i can say that this museum fails to do so.
My daughter looked on the verge of crying as even she didn't understand whole conversation we had with staff but she still understood overall meaning and tone that she was not welcomed.
We left the exhibition room soon but I should have left there even at the entrance when we had to hear the stupid restrictions they set to small kids..
Then we would have not hurt her feeling.
Please do not visit this place if you have a kid.

A nice art museum that features a good mix of western and Japanese artists as well as classic and contemporary art. Unfortunately it was too chilly for me to look at the grounds which had many statues and sculptures but I'll go back another day to check them out
A recommendable spot to acquire unique mementos before leaving the city is Sato-no-eki Ichinomiya souvenir shop. This establishment offers a diverse range of keepsakes for purchase. It is conveniently situated on the outskirts of town, making it easily accessible to travelers heading home. With an array of distinctive items available, visitors can find something special that captures the essence of their visit.
Good place to grab some souvenirs on the way out of town.

Kamui Misaka Ski is a ski resort that caters to families and beginner skiers. The resort offers gentle slopes suitable for all levels of experience, along with skiing lessons and a small café. Although visited towards the end of the season (in March), we found that there was no snow outside of the ski area itself. Despite its size, Kamui Misaka Ski has two lifts available for guests to use.
Great for nearby skiing. Two hours from Chiba. If it's cold enough, the fake snow is adequate.

This is the first time. I'm visiting a ski resort. I like to share some of my experience. Here you can rent ski , snowboard ,boots ,tracks and jackets. But you need to carry gloves by yourself or else you can buy from the store but it has only limited stocks better to buy from outside. The resort has a integrated restaurant. People can barely speak English but very helpful. Snow is kind of artificially made and it's hard. In the aspect of safety some place are dangerous for beginners. Overall it's average ski resort to enjoy.

The Shakado Museum of Jomon Culture is an impressive collection of Jomon pottery from ancient Japanese civilizations. Jomon pottery is a fascinating look into the life of various cultures found throughout Japan- The Shakado holds a vast array of Jomon pottery from the 4th and 5th millennia BC. It also has a great view out over the Kofu area and surrounding mountains. You can go through the collection quite quickly (20 - 30 minutes is plenty), so don't plan on making it a day-trip. However, it's definitely work a visit. An interesting feature is that you can walk up stairs from the Shakado rest stop on the E20 below (at least the outbound stop) and combine a break from driving with a bit of very interesting culture.

This place is perfect or almost is. It probably is one of the best parks in Japan. Very secluded and has a nature feel to it that you can't really find anywhere else in Japan. It also has a very great kids playground, with plenty of activities for kids to do. I can think of two parks in fujiyoshida that come close, onishirin and the other is close to a Lawson up in fujiyoshida but this one is the best one. The reason for the greatness is that the nature here is untouched and they are made so that the park here is intertwined with nature. You don't really understand how big the park is and especially the playground until you walk around.
Park is amazing, koi fish pond, pine trees, massive playground with a great slide. Plenty of creepy crawlies to find as well and here is the downside to this place.
It's filled with wasp nests. Bloody, wasps everywhere. The park is maintained and there are scorch marks on the trees left by burning the nests. It was on most of the trees on the kids playground and you couldn't play for more than 30 minutes till something shows up. Yes, wasps are native to Japan and they do help the eco system in some mysterious ways but if you have kids, you will be worried. The park folks, do their best to maintain them but I was there a few days ago and you are constantly on the look out for these devilish things. We had planned on eating some lunch here with the kids, wasps just buzzing around constantly.
Will come back, just gotta come when the wasps aren't around 😭

Stunning views well worth the trek. We came on foot and found out at the last minute that the tori gate view area closes at 4:30 so we ran the last few minutes. Very steep hill! Give yourself enough time to get there if you’re walking. It’s about 25 mins walking from the base of the shrine entrance. We were glad we went faster because there was someone there ushering us out to close the door at 4:30. Again - incredibly beautiful view, and well worth the trek no matter how you get there.

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is a magnificent and ancient shrine that worships the goddess of Mount Fuji and volcanoes. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mount Fuji and its cultural landscape. The shrine was founded in 865 CE, after a massive eruption of Mount Fuji, to appease the volcano deity and protect the people from disasters.
The shrine is located in the scenic town of Kawaguchiko, near the famous lake of the same name. The shrine is surrounded by nature and has a serene and sacred atmosphere. The most striking feature of the shrine is the cedar avenue that leads to the main hall. There are 11 giant cedars that are over 800 years old and have a trunk circumference of 7 meters. They are designated as natural monuments of the town and create a majestic and awe-inspiring sight.
The shrine also has seven sacred cedars that are over 1200 years old and are 45 meters tall. They are deified with shimenawa ropes and are symbols of the shrine's long history and spiritual power. The shrine also hosts two festivals in April and July, where a ritual dance is performed to honor the volcano goddess and prevent further eruptions and earthquakes.
Kawaguchi Asama Shrine is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves history, culture, and nature. It is a place where you can feel the connection between humans and nature, and appreciate the beauty and mystery of Mount Fuji and volcanoes.

Ancient temple for phrase Fuji mountain.
Thousand years old tree all over the place, if you like to see the famous Sky Torri, you need to arrive before 2pm, take over 30 mins walk from the temple to the Torri.

Beautiful shrine with a long history. Tho if you're looking to get a photo of Mt Fuji with the torii gate be aware that that specific photo spot is on private property and costs 100 yen for 3 minutes of photography. There are plenty of other spots to stop as you walk up the hill behind the shrine to take photos if your on a budget or just don't want to spend 100 yen.

A quiet shrine to visit cos mostly only those who come down by foot from Tenku No Torii will pass by it.

Didn't know what to expect when we walked from Music Forest to the Shrine. Was met with gigantic cedar trees. Took the trekking route up the hill and met some tourists on the way down. Was told it would be slippery and another 20 min uphill. Made it nevertheless since weather was good. Was worth the climb. Didnt queue for the photo as we couldnt have the full view of Mt Fuji. Stillanaged to take some nice photos.

Azama Shrine, also known as Tenku no Torii is a beautiful place where you can get great views of Mount Fuji. Be sure to visit in the early morning otherwise the sun will be in the way. And there are less clouds in the morning. There is a small parking lot at the base of this place. You have to climb a flight of stairs before you reach this location.
Celestine — Google review
If you like massive trees, it is definitely worth a visit. There are quite a number of 800+ year old cedars that can’t help but impress. We did not go all the way up to their famous Tenku Torii, but even if you only follow the trail on the left for 5 minutes or so, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. Highly recommended for the beautiful trees, the peaceful atmosphere, and the view of Mount Fuji.
Fuefukigawa Fruit Park is a popular destination in Yamanashi, known for its gardens, play equipment, and glass domes housing a fruit museum and greenhouse. The region is renowned for producing delectable fruits like peaches, grapes, and strawberries. Visitors can enjoy fruit picking at local farms from summer to autumn. At the park, guests can savor fresh fruits straight from the trees and explore various activities such as fruit workshops and orchard experiences.
Fuefukigawa is an excellent scenic spot. Many spacious parking lots,
attractive views. Spend pleasant moments with your family, children, friends, and loved ones. Make memories of happy moments, but renew love in the best atmosphere. Refresh your mood with your favorite snacks, meals, barbeque, ice cream and soft drinks. A beautiful antique railway train is waiting for you to take you around the park. Water Park is a very enjoyable place for children. Where children fulfill their wishes. And with it the freshest fruits from the orchards are eager to accompany you. However, no matter how much we talk about the charm of this park, it is less.

Isawa Hot Spring Public Bath is an old-fashioned bathhouse that boasts natural hot springs and a basic in-house eatery. The facility offers a dining room where customers can enjoy meals if they make reservations before bathing. The sento primarily caters to locals and charges a bathing fee of 430 yen. The men's bath features an interesting upside-down picture of Mt.Fuji while the water temperature remains on the hotter side.

One of the several public baths in Yamanashi Prefecture that use hot springs. That's why I'm happy that the usage fee is 430 yen.
There is a building on the corner of the narrow alley, and there is a parking lot where you can park several cars when you turn left.
The spring quality is alkaline with a pH of 8.2, and it is a relaxed hypotonic high temperature spring.
The bathhouse is small. There are about 5 seats with showers. Rinse-in shampoo and body soap are provided.
There are 3 bathtubs, one with high temperature, one with medium temperature, and one with hot spring water. It seems like she has stopped using the sauna. The alternating hot spring and cold baths are very pleasant.
After taking a bath, head to the attached restaurant. I ordered the ramen (600 yen) because it said it was the ``second best ramen in Isawa.'' Mild ramen with soy sauce flavor. It has a lot of ingredients and is worth the price. I would have drank it if I wasn't in the car.

You can find it if you go a little way down the side of the pharmacy. It is a traditional hot spring public bath. There is a cafeteria and alcohol is served. The bathing fee is 430 yen, which is very cheap. There are only 3 bathtubs, hot water, electric bath and cold bath. The water bath was also hot spring water. Shampoo and liquid soap are provided, but you should bring your own towels. It is recommended for those who do not have time and want to soak in hot springs. The hot spring is transparent but a little brown. It was a little slimy and seemed good for the skin. When you take a bath, you can drink Yatsugatake milk bottle or coffee milk for 100 yen. This is so delicious after taking a bath. One disappointing thing is that the painting of Mt. Fuji on the mural, which is a specialty of the public bath, looks like mold because the paint has peeled off. . . But if repainting and the bathing fee becomes higher, it may be fine as it is. A large number of people is unsuitable place.

(Translated by Google) Isawa Onsen is a public bath located on the corner of a small street off Ekimae Street, and its name is ``Isawa Onsen.'' There is a large ramen curtain at the entrance, but it is actually a hot spring bath or public bath.
At the counter (cash register) just outside the entrance, tell the person that you would like to take a bath and pay the fee. 430 yen. There seems to be rental towels as well. There are separate entrances for men and women at the back of the dining room, and beyond that is a changing room.
The locker has a key. Hair dryer is available for a fee.
The bathroom is a public bath style with a fixed shower. Shampoo and body soap provided. A style where each person moves the chair and bathtub (Kerorin!). Be careful not to leave the hot water running for long as it will become boiling hot.
There are 3 indoor baths that are cramped for 5 people each. Simple yet tasteful. From the left: boiling water, about 42 degrees hot. On the right is a water bath (mineral spring?) at a temperature of just 20 degrees. Alternating left and right baths feels good. The middle bath has a temperature of just under 40 degrees, but there are two electric baths. This is relatively rare. The left side is normal (for first-timers, I think it's pretty tight), and the right side is quite strong! I couldn't keep sitting down. It was literally shocking and made me laugh.
On the wall is a large painted painting of Mt. Fuji (and upside-down Mt. Fuji). I think this is also valuable. It's perfect for a facility where you can take a bath and take a breather.
Rumor has it that the ramen is delicious. There was a sign saying that meals were served until 8:30 p.m. It might be a good idea to take a bath and set during dinner.
*The road that turns into the parking lot is quite narrow, so please be careful if you are driving a sedan or larger.
