Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a must-see destination for nature lovers. The park features a breathtaking cliff-hanging walkway and glass skywalk, situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters on Tianmen mountain's side. Although the Glass Bridge is not easily accessible, it's worth the trip to experience its stunning beauty. Visitors can take a bus from the bottom of the mountain or drive there independently by car.
Absolute highlight of our trip to China. Although it's all part of the same park, the different regions of the park look different from each other in terms of the landscaping. As others have noted - the signage isn't great. The most helpful thing to keep in mind is there are two "levels" to the park. The ground floor trails, and the top floor trails. And then technically there are trails that connect the ground and top floor. I definitely recommend taking the lifts, it's not worth your precious time and energy to hike up. The main highlights are pretty easy walking, the reason you'll sweat will be because of the heat, not because of the trail difficulty. Food is a little rough - there are several McDonalds on top of the mountains! There are lots of vendors along the trails selling bottled water, snacks, etc. They won't bother you at all, and we bought from them several times. A good amount of restrooms on the trail. I liked the Yuanjiajie Scenic area, Golden Whip Stream, and Yellow Village Scenic Area. I would stay away from Tianzi Scenic area and Yangjiajie scenic area. The trails were more difficult in those sections, and the scenery wasn't as good. You'll have a great time!!

Amazing place !
Used for AVATAR's movie and we understand why.
The beauty of this place is AMAZING.
The park is so huge that you can buy a multi days pass. That I Highly recommand!
There are so many spot to see, you'll even be able to see monkeys.
In this park, you will walk a lot, like all day long just to visit part of it.
There are a lot of stairs, so prepare your legs cause you're gonna be in pain but it's worth it.
Unforgettable memories
Take water as well, it is hot & wet.

A stunning, breathtaking and awe-inspiring place. The inspiration for Pandora in the Avatar movie. An absolute must-see. The best time to see will be in early winter as the place will appear mythical and magical in the mist. The park comprised of dense forests, deep ravines, deep canyons, unusual peaks, caves, and pillar-like rock formations blanketed throughout the park. These pillar rock formations are what the park is renowned for around the world.

The avatar mountain are worth the visit. If you love nature then it's a must visit.
Remember its not very easy accessible to get to glass Bridge. You'll have to take a bus from the bottom of the mountain. If you have a car it's better.
Pros : Beauty at its best.
Cons : you have to pay for everything and it's a little pricy.

Absolutely incredible. Walking in, you pass between the stone formations towering above you. After a climb (or an expensive elevator) you get to a region of the park with views to this stunning natural phenomenon all around. This park is huge, take more than one day to explore this place. There are lodging options inside the park, even budget friendly ones.

Easy and nice hikes, no need to take cable cars or the elevator. I would recommend to spend at least three full days here to cover the whole area. It's crucial to start in the early morning to escape the tourist masses ;)
If you decided to hike instead of taking the cable cars, you are mostly alone, but the main spots are pretty crowded. You can have equally good views just a bit of the track, so there is no point in waiting in line to get a picture from the spots which are close to the cable car stations.
Orientation is easy, signs are everywhere

Well worth a visit if you want to get away from busy cities in China! English/Australian couple touring China, we travelled to Zhangjiajie airport and got a transfer to our accommodation (Purespace) located a short walk to the Zimugang entrance to the National Park. This entrance is quieter than the main South Entrance. Tickets last 4 days from purchase, and buses take you round the park. We found that the buses work in a hop on-hop off fashion (I.e. you can’t stay on one bus all the way round). We recommend taking a photo of the Chinese spelling of the entrance / exit so that you can show park employees (very minimal English is spoken!).
We love the outdoors and hiking, and quickly learnt that you can avoid crowds of local tourists by walking deeper into the park. Our 2 day itinerary we discovered which we loved:
Day 1) From Zimugang gate, get the bus to the Bialong Elevator (don’t even bother taking it - it’s crowded and you have to pay extra!), then hop on the bus back to Golden Whip stream (the stop between Zimugang and Bialong). From here, walk along the stream until you get to a staircase on the right. This is up to Avatar mountain, a long walk but worth it! No tourists, saw lots of wildlife (including monkeys) and amazing views at the top. There are ways (buses/walking) back down but we were funnelled into the elevator which we had to pay for. It wasn’t worth it, crowded and too fast to take in scenery!
Day 2) We got to Zimugang gate at 8:45am - no tourists there! We took the bus to Golden Whip and then hopped on the bus to Ten Mile Gallery. Beautiful scenery (despite the tram running along the path for the first 1.5km!) After then, you walk up the stairs for about 2 hours until you get to a McDonalds (!) at the base of the Tianzi pavilion. We didn’t see a single person on the stairs, it was peaceful and so atmospheric. From the road at the top, we took the bus to the cable car and took that down the mountain which I highly recommend! From there we got the bus back to 10 mile gallery - Golden Whip - Zimugang.
We didn’t do the tourist spots like the Stairway to Heaven (Tianzi mountain), nor the glass bottomed bridge… and we don’t regret it!

Unforgettable experience. This is one of the top 5 national forest park in 🇨🇳. The view of the pillar mountains are magnificent, it is no comparison to any wonders you have seen from this planet. If you ever go to blue mountain in NSW 🇦🇺, it will make blue mountain looks like a dwarf, it's like comparing the 3 sisters ⛰️ to a thousand sisters ⛰️. If you have a chance, be sure to put in your 🪣 list.

Huge complex of mountains where you will have to travel by shuttle buses, cable car, even take a lift high as Eifel Tower :-) The mountains are breathtaking and unforgettable. Thanks to Avatar movies it gets more popular and I think that’s a good thing, otherwise I think we will maybe not have visited this place and it will be a mistake. If you are not sure to come because it’s maybe far, you definitely should come, it’s worthy to travel here. The tickets are for 4 days. We only have 1,5 day and still worthy, worthy, worthy :-)

Wow, this place is magical. The scenery is on another, if you really wanna enjoy this place I recommend not taking cable car and elevator, walk everywhere. The crowds thin out when walking deeper inside. And that's when you can really take it slow and enjoy this place. Because the main spots are way too crowded and you'll get overwhelmed by local tour groups. Also great organisation by the staff to take us to and back from the bus.
Baofeng Lake is situated in the Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve and is a popular tourist attraction in Zhangjiajie. It is the sole lake scenic spot present in this region and functions as a reservoir for crop irrigation, complete with a dam. Baofeng Lake Scenic Area has been designated as a World Natural Heritage site since 1992, encompassing two areas: Baofeng Lake and Yingwo Stockaded Village.
The fog made everything more magical ✨ It was less crowded and energy-zapping 🙏🏼 I also went on a amazing boat ride where you could bring back a guy/girl if you reciprocated their singing, which is a very interesting custom.
Waiting time for the boat ride could take some time!
Kevon Tan — Google review
Honestly, quite disappointing. The whole thing felt really fake - the actual lake is artificial so it just looks like an unatural flooded valley - becasue it is (and probably caused a ton of environmental damage). And then you go round on the boat past some people in costumes singing, which I know is symbolic and traditional but the way you just go past looking at them feels really inauthentic, like you're on a theme park ride. It was pretty I guess. I went in mid March and all the walking paths were closed, so literally the only thing you can do is go on a 5 minute bus, 20 minute boat and then bus back. There's a waterfall section with museum too but that's so small it can be seen in way less than 30 mins. So for ¥95 (for entry plus boat) it was not good value, felt like an inauthentic theme park and just boring. Wish I'd gone back into Zhangjiajie National Park instead.

Shape imagination while enjoying the lake view along with different rocky mountains is the main adventure of the Chinese traditional boat journey through the lake. The lake has an average depth of 72 meter with an maximum depth of 169 meter approximately. Mountain love songs are one of sweetest parts to enjoy the boat journey, sung by male & female, individually, they wait in two separate cottages located at the feet of mountains & when any boat crosses their cottage they start to sing loud to cheer the tourists. It also includes a bus journey through the snaky mountain road. At the terminal point, there is also a natural flow of a large amount of water coming down to mountains feet. A small pond exists there, colorful fishes swim to get some adore from the cheerful tourists. A baby fish, age of almost 70, lives there in a pond, people gives him coins & notes to make fulfill the wishes they want. A baby fish lives nearly around 150 years of life span. It's about 4 feet in length & 12-15kg in weight. Moreover, you may have an amazing visit to Baofeng Lake for half a day if you plan to go there in near future.

Time well spent. You need one day to see all. Going up is best with the cable car (instead of bus). You get there in 30 minutes. However, queing took us around 1h (and it was not so busy). Try to book an early time slot and go in time. Once up the mountain, take the West line. The first part of the trail is crowded with tourists, but you'll get used to it. The glass covered sky walks are not perticularly interesting, since the glass has lost a bit of its transparency and looking over the edge gives you a similar view. The temple on the top of the mountain is magnificent. Take the time to visit it. You'll be amazed. From the temple onwards, the trails are less crowded. Go further untill Kunpeng Peak and get back to the Tianmen elevator to the Tianmen gate top. Finish your walk by walking down the stairs and take your time to look around. No need to go back up. Take your bus back at the bottom.

August 11th 2017: We went up by cable car and we descended by bus. Cable car it's really amazing and not recommended for those with panic (like me :P) the views are unique and the sensation of going through over the cliff it's amazing as you can see in the pictures. The door to the sky it's also unique, the 999 stairs are so vertical and built for small food so those with big feet will suffer a bit, even more if it rain and make the surface slippery!! I recommend you that if you come from the top and you descend it, to go up through them, it's a must! Up there there are some places that offer food and drink for reasonable prices

Puguang Temple is located within the stunning Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking natural beauty. The park features towering sandstone pillars, serene lakes, meandering streams, and mysterious caves. It is said to have inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar. Additionally, visitors can experience the world's highest natural cave and ride an outdoor elevator that holds records for being the fastest, tallest, and carrying the largest load.
It has mountains, sandstone pillars, lakes, streams, caves, gorges, fauna and UNESCO-World-Heritage-Site status, but Zhangjiajie isn’t your average national park. For one, it is said to have inspired Avatar, specifically the “floating” Hallelujah Mountains. It also has the world’s highest natural cave, and an outdoor elevator on a mountain (it just happens to be the “world’s fastest, tallest and largest load lift”). With natural spectacles galore, this scenic experience promises to be more than a walk in the park.

Tianmen Mountain is a popular tourist destination located in Zhangjiajie city. It stands at a height of 1,519 meters, making it the highest peak in the area and an important landmark. Visitors to this location can enjoy breathtaking scenery, photography opportunities, and thrilling adventures. The mountain's name means "gate to the sky" in Chinese due to its towering height. Visitors must climb around 1000 steps to reach the gate and explore its natural beauty.
Tianmen mountain cablecar was constructed in 2005, starting from the nearby Zhangjiajie railway station all the way to the top of the mountain. It is said to be the "longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world". But i am more impressed by the majestic mountain! Was there with a group of friends from Malaysia in late October 2017 after the double ten 1010 holidays so there was not much of a crowd.
We took the cable car ride up the mountain. Fantastic views. The surrounding hills offered a decent enough views, with a glass floor bridge adding some excitement.
One of China's master piece of engineering is buried right inside the hills, the Escalators. A series of maybe 7 escalators each maybe 100m long and at almost 45 degree incline that took us from the top of the mountain, almost 1000 ft down to the top of Stairway to Heaven which is right underneath the famous Tianmen Hole in the hill. We then walked the 999 steps down to the Tianmen Square from where we took the bus ride down the 99 hairpins road to the Zhangjiajie town below.
The bus ride initially was scary because the road is downhill, it was dark and the hairpin turns were stomach churning. Until you realised that we were in safe hands, the driver was been carefully monitored from the base station, no speeding reckless driving allowed

The tourist areas of China are significantly better than most of the tourist places in the United States from my experience.
Huangshizhai, also known as the Yellow Village, is a misty viewpoint offering stunning vistas of unique stone hills. Accessible by hiking trails or a cable car, it's recommended to follow the Golden Whip Stream trail to reach this picturesque spot. I loved this place!!! I'm really glad we made time to visit while we were in Zhangjiajie (we visited in spring 2018). It didn't take much time to walk through, probably about an hour, but it was so worth it. The art is BEAUTIFUL and very unique. I've never seen anything like it. There was a guide who spoke English and explained things to us very well. We couldn't resist buying a piece, which I keep on my work desk (see picture). There are more expensive pieces from the artist who created this style (the place is named after him - Junsheng) and more affordable pieces from his students, which is the kind we bought. They included the picture stand for free! We brought ours home in our suitcase, but they offer a packing and shipping service if you'd prefer. I would love to visit here again when I'm rich and retired to buy one of the four seasons sets by Junsheng himself. Those were my favorite!

My qualifications are poor, so the price of the painting trib is really skewed. There is a large, bright painting that costs 18,000 yuan, and right next to a smaller, not as bright painting that costs 1.2 million yuan (about 4 billion VND!). Probably due to the quality of the materials.
In addition, they also sell small, easy-to-buy sand and stone souvenir paintings, as well as paintings on many cards.
What I don't understand is that the 2nd floor has a request not to take photos. Are they afraid of being apprenticed? While the advertising effect is probably much greater.
