Tali temple is one of the oldest temples in Kozhikode. The temple was built by Swamy Thirumulapad. The founding and prosperity of Kozhikode city is closely linked with the sanctity of this ancient temple. It is believed that the lingam in the sanctum of the Temple was installed towards the end of Dvapara Yuga by Sri. Parasurama. The posture in the sanctum is that of Umamaheswara. Though this divine power existed from time immemorial, the attention of the citizens of Kozhikode was (bestowed on the temple) only by about 1500 years ago. Later on the temple reached its zenith during the rule of the Zamorin of Calicut,(also known as Samoothiri)who had the prestigious title Sailabdheswara. The temple to its present state was built in the 14th century.
It is within walking distance from the railway station

One of the most important lord Siva temple in Calicut. Located very close to the centre of city too. The feel inside temple is too good. There's another big SREE Krishna temple inside this. Parking either has to be done in road side or in nearby school ground if possible.

We came to Calicut to visit our cousin. Tali temple is famous for most oldest temple in Calicut. The temple is near my cousin home in chalapuram. The temple has strict rule over the dress code. Men should wear dhoti. pants and jeans are strictly prohibited. Non Hindus are not allowed is written there. The temple premises are well maintained and murals on the walls show our artists calibre in the olden times. The ambience of silence inside the temple just provides a stronger bond and feeling with the lord.

The Tali Mahakshetra Temple in Calicut has an ancient history, dating back over 14th century. The main deity, Lord Shiva, is worshipped with great devotion, and the temple is also home to shrines dedicated to Parvati, Ganapathi, and Sastha. It's a historic and spiritually significant site.
The main things to focus is only hindu devotees are allowed. Men should wear dhoti and remove their shirt before entering the temple if not worn then it can be taken as rent also near the counter and women should be in ethnic dress otherwise they won't be allowed inside. Parking facilities are very less as we went during some function in the temple.
The Tali Mahakshetra Temple is not just a place of worship; it is a living monument to Kerala's rich cultural heritage and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the region's history and spirituality."

The best beach in Kerala. Lengthier, the largest and most hygienic beach, has lots of resting areas, good restaurants nearby, a lot of local foods, public toilets, etc. This makes Calicut beach far better than any other. It's hard to find clean beaches nowadays. I'm not sure how long it will remain like this, but now it is. Families, kids, friends, everyone can spend time here.
I suggest going after 5 p.m., as during this time the shops and street vendors are active. There is not much space for parking if it's very crowded. There are a few pay-and-park facilities nearby, but I'm not sure if we have to prebook them. I recommend everyone visit here if they ever visit Calicut.

Has variety of shops and good food court with ample gaming things to do for fun. For shopping ladies garments I personally felt the best collection was from Swayamvara Nxt on the second floor. They had a variety of collection where we bought everything we needed. Their womens trial rooms had seating outside for the men which I don't find that common in other stores. Also the dresses are well arranged on racks and is spacious enough to find the dress we are looking for. Their collection is very trendy I felt. Also for inner wears there is a separate section made into a room for more privacy which I felt a bit premium experience. The staff was very friendly and supportive in getting the sizes while trying out in the trial room and hence the customer experience offered was very high. Have recommended to many already.

Bus fare Rs.15 to Calicut railway station to mall. Hypermarket is there , we can purchase food from there and eat at food court. All branded items under one mall, but people still avoiding the mall. It's just near the mananchira square and SM street, it's a very old theatre but now it's completely multiplex and Dolby sound system. The ticket fare is very low and the cleanliness is also top notch, it's a very small theatre but the seating arrangements are really good and the food and beverages are really pocket friendly. The service is also good and moreover it's kozhikkode people are the sweetest you will see in your life. You can come in your own vehicle or you will get plenty of buses also. So don't worry about traveling in this city.

It's one of the best shopping malls in Kozhikode because of the variety of items found here from food, clothing, home decor to home appliances, the list is endless. There are separate sections for all types of clothing from branded to non branded. Lots of shoes, belts etc. Then a lot of grocery options, the clothing here is extremely good and you will surely find what you are looking for. The price is a bit high, but it's definitely worth it. Separate shopping sections for men and women makes it more convenient to choose from. A lot of beauty products and watches can also be found here. And the staffs here are very helpful. It's easily accessible by road or by taxi and there are places to have food nearby, once done with shopping.

Kumari Banana Chips is a popular Indian sweets store located near Paragon Bridge in Calicut. The shop is known for its unique and delicious banana chips, which are fried in coconut oil. Many locals recommend this shop for its crispy and flavorful chips, which are not easily found elsewhere in Kerala. While the service is friendly and the packaging impressive, the shop only accepts cash.
Best chips available in Calicut town we can say the very thin crispy slice which is unique in taste .

The place for freshly made authentic banana chips!
Imagine biting into a crispy, golden banana chip and being greeted by the perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors. These delicious snacks are made from ripe bananas that are sliced thinly and then deep-fried to crispy perfection.
As you take your first bite, you're met with a satisfying crunch that gives way to the natural sweetness of the banana. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by a hint of salt, creating a mouthwatering flavor profile that keeps you coming back for more.
Each chip is expertly crafted to ensure a uniform texture and taste, with just the right amount of oil to achieve a crispy finish without being greasy. Whether enjoyed on their own as a quick and satisfying snack or paired with a savory dip for an extra burst of flavor, banana chips are sure to tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving for another handful.
But it's not just the delicious taste that makes banana chips so irresistible – they're also a healthier alternative to traditional potato chips. Packed with essential nutrients like potassium, fiber, and vitamins, banana chips offer a guilt-free indulgence that you can feel good about enjoying.
Whether you're snacking on-the-go, satisfying a craving for something crunchy, or simply treating yourself to a tasty treat, yummy banana chips are the perfect choice for anyone looking to add a touch of sweetness and crunch to their day.
Should unquestionably be on every travellers bucket list.

Inarguably one of the best banana chips centre in Kozhikode. This place lives upto the expectations everytime you buy from there. I usually gift this to my friends and colleagues back in Dubai and they too love it. Also check their tapioca chips and jackfruit chips.

This place could be one of the best chips shops in Kozhikode and even all of Kerala. The prepare it in a very traditional way. They are very consistent in texture and quality. It's right opposite the famed Paragon hotel. They also offer a plethora of other Kerala snacks.
They use a big pit to burn coconut husk and deep fry the thinly sliced banana. When In kozhikode, so give this place a visit. Do remember they don't accept any forms of digital payment including UPI. That is very weird considering they have a high amount of sales happening at their outlet. Even when on asking the bill, the person seemed to be very reluctant. That's one of the very weird aspects of their business.

I’ll have to admit I didn’t buy anything here but I tried the chips and oh boy oh boy were they good. The coconut oil flavour really came through, which I think tells the quality of the oil they use. They make it on site, fresh and is still warm when served.

The Azhakodi Devi Temple Auditorium, located in Thiruthiyadu, Calicut features traditional Kerala-style architecture and is situated next to the temple. With a seating capacity of 400-500 people, it is a reasonably sized auditorium with plenty of parking space on a vast ground. The surroundings are kept clean and neat; however, the bathroom facilities could be improved for better convenience.
I recently attended an event at this marriage hall, and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The hall's reputation as the best auditorium in town is well-deserved. Its central location made it incredibly convenient for attendees coming from various parts of the city.
The fully air-conditioned function hall ensured that even on a hot day, everyone was comfortable throughout the event. With a capacity of up to 500 people, it's a versatile space suitable for a range of occasions. The ample parking space was a definite plus, ensuring a hassle-free arrival and departure for guests.
What's noteworthy is that this marriage hall offers great value for money, fitting within most budgets without compromising on quality. The presence of plants and trees around the venue created a pleasant atmosphere, making it feel like a serene oasis in the midst of the city.
Overall, based on my experience, I would highly recommend this marriage hall to anyone in need of a top-notch venue. It combines convenience, comfort, affordability, and a pleasant ambiance, making it a standout choice for hosting events in the city.

Events: I attended an event here, and it was a memorable experience. The space is well-equipped for performances, and the acoustics are excellent.
Staff: The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, ensuring that every aspect of the event ran smoothly. Their professionalism and friendliness were noteworthy.
Location: The auditorium's central location in Azhakodi made it convenient to access. It's a wonderful venue for cultural and community events.

It's a small auditorium with a capacity around 200-300, with a small stage and is air conditioned (split ACs). Stage with decoration was good. The dining hall is adjacent to the hall and I guess it can dine upto 200 persons. It has a reasonable parking, I think share switch the temple parking. Overall it's a good hall at a prime location within the city.
Washroom cleanliness was average and could have been better.
You might not get a autorickshaw nearby. Any return autos maybe be hired but not sure. 10 mins walk to the main road will take you near the BMH. Road to the temple or hall is cramped. Not sure bigger vehicles can come along that route or if there are other ways to do the same.

If you are in Kozhikode, you might consider visiting this 700 year old mosque where the prayers are help even today.
This 700 year old mosque in Kerala was attacked not by the Indians but by the Europeans
You may wonder WHY
Mishkal mosque in Kozhikode is one of the oldest mosque in India
Initially it had 5 storey’s but after being bombed, it got reduced to 4
If you notice, it does not have the typical tomb architecture, because the workers who built this mosque had only built temples and had no idea how to build a mosque
The Portuguese attacked this mosque. Their mission was to divide and rule, breaking the harmony between hindus and muslims. However, The local ruler at that time, didn't fall for this and instead helped in defending and repairing the mosque.

The five storied building was attacked by the Portuguese and re-constructed with the help of Samuthiri (king of Kozhikkod) and it was reduced to a 4 floor building. Mishkal Masjid is an almost 700-year old mosque that graces the skyline of the Kuttichira locality in Kozhikode. It was built by a wealthy Muslim merchant of the area in the earlier half of the fourteenth century. The Muslim population of the region have contributed greatly to the culture, architecture and the vibrant economy of the area over the centuries
The Portugese had tried to burn down the mosque when they first came to India. It was partially damaged, and the partially ruined mosque was renovated under the Zamorin's aegis, the original 5-storey structure was reduced to a 4-storeyed one & was reopened in 1578-79.
Like many Muslim structures in Kerala of that period, this mosque has neither domes nor minarets and relies heavily on timber, laterite & sloping tiled roofs.

The Mishkal Mosque, built in the 14th century, takes its name from its builder, Nakhuda Mithqal, who was a merchant from Yemen and had trade relations with Malabar. It is situated in Kuttichira, within the city limits.
Instead of the Saracen architecture that is generally employed for the construction of mosques in the state, the Mishkal Mosque follows an architecture that is more of a temple. It is a structure that conveys the harmony and secular culture that this city has shown for centuries.

Mishkal Mosque originally had five stories. It was rebuilt in 1578/79 after the 1510 arson and now has four stories.Typical for similar medieval mosques in Kerala, it has no cupolas and minarets and heavily employs timber.A large tank known as the Kuttichira tank is attached to the mosque. The mosque has 47 doors, 24 carved pillars and a big prayer hall that can accommodate around 400 people. The prayer hall is well ventilated and there is a wooden member with intricate motifs.

Beautiful mosque with a unique design unlike any other masjid I have visited. It is only open at prayer times, so it is not really practical to visit the inside unless you wish to pray (men only). Standing tall for almost 700 years, Mishkal Masjid graces the skyline of Kuttichira in Kozhikode. Constructed in the early 14th century by a wealthy Muslim merchant from the region, this historic mosque holds a significant place in the area's culture, architecture, and vibrant economy, thanks to the contributions of the Muslim population over the centuries.
The mosque faced adversity during the arrival of the Portuguese in India, as they attempted to burn it down. While it suffered partial damage, the mosque underwent renovation under the Zamorin's patronage. The original five-storey structure was transformed into a four-storeyed one, and in 1578-79, it proudly reopened its doors.
In keeping with the architectural style of Muslim structures in Kerala during that era, Mishkal Mosque forgoes domes and minarets. Instead, it embraces the use of timber, laterite, and sloping tiled roofs, creating a distinctive and elegant appearance.

The canteen needs to be improved. Rest all things are good . Overall it's very neat and clean. Some maintenance required in the kids play area. The open gym was good and had lots of fun.

It is a bio park which was mainly developed to protect the magroves. It allows free entry for those using the park for running, walking etc. There is an open gym. Though it is within the city, the morning air is fresh. After 10 am you need to pay a nominal fee to gain entry. There is Miyawaki forest, cafeteria, open air theater, cafeteria, children ,park etc.

I had went to Sarovaram bio park along with my friends. The park is very well maintained and is lush green with a lot of seatings. The park has children play area.
The park is more suitable for couples who want to share intimate moments with their loved ones.
So I would not recommend going to biopark with friends.
Overall its a nice place for one time visit.

It is a venture to promote eco-friendly development and tourism in the Kottooly area of Kozhikode.
It is located in the wetlands of Kozhikode coastal area and is home to several mangrove and bird species.
The park is predictably a destination for teenage and young couples. One cannot walk a few metres without stumbling upon a couple.
There is a canal cutting through the eco park that is home to several aquatic species of plants and animals.

A heavenly haven for couples, rather than friends, awaits at this charming establishment. Countless picturesque spots are scattered throughout, perfect for capturing exquisite photos. There's even a small park-like area dedicated to children, making it an ideal destination for families with little ones. However, it should be noted that this place is not intended for those seeking to conceive, but rather for those who already have children in tow.

The place looks amazing. When I am go there in morning before 8 AM it feels beautiful. But when I visit there in day time it’s a pace with lots of couple’s with 18+. So I am preferred there to visit morning.

Sarovaram Biopark in Kozhikode, Kerala, is a scenic ecological park known for its rich biodiversity and serene ambiance. Spread over 200 acres, the park features a large water body, walking trails, and lush greenery. Visitors can explore diverse ecosystems, including wetlands and gardens, while enjoying the tranquility of nature.

I think there is no timing to enter into the park. Some no entry areas are also there.
Childrens park with slides are available. A stage for programs is also there. Restroom facility is available. Family, friends, couples all are visiting here. But most visitors are couples.
Boating facilities on the Sarovaram, offer a delightful experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty that surrounds them.
With its emphasis on conservation and eco-friendly practices, Sarovaram Biopark serves as a recreational space as well as an educational hub, promoting the importance of preserving the environment.

Good nature environment. Maintenance can be improved. Too many young couples occupying the benches and creating nuisance. Authorities may be strict in discipling them. Boat jetty experience is good

It’s a shame that the children’s park in Sarovaram which was once my son’s favourite place is not at all safe for children anymore. Like many other initiatives this one also has become useless and even dangerous due to poor maintenance.

Beypore Beach, located in Kozhikode, Kerala, is a historically significant and naturally beautiful destination. The beach offers scenic views with coconut palms and gentle waves, making it perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. Visitors can witness the traditional shipbuilding industry and enjoy boat rides in the Arabian Sea. Additionally, the beach is known for its delicious seafood at local eateries.
Beautiful beach with adjacent breakwater. Experience a special vibe that brings us to the past of calicut City with trading, sea merchants etc. And not busy as calicut main beach.

A place to explore the life style and local fishing style. You can have a boat ride from the many local boat owners. Best time to visit evening 4-6

The place was nice. The state tourism has set up a floating bridge, extending 100 meters into the sea from the beach. People can experience walking over the waves, which is amusing. There is also a concrete sea walk, which is a nice place to sit and relax, cherish the sunset. If you are lucky, you will be able to spot dolphins from here. On the downside, there was maintenance activity ongoing around the beach, where I believe they are reconstructing the park, so its noisy and dusty around that area. The beach is also littered and no cleaning staff were present. I would also request the tourist and local people to build awareness on cleanliness and not to litter such places.

One of the better beaches in calicut. Even though the beach itself isn't as long as some of the other ones, it is well kept and is as clean as it can get in our country. There's a bridge of sorts leading into the sea were u can take a nice evening walk, and if u are lucky u can spot dolphins especially at noon time. The place also can be a decent fishing spot if u are good with a Rod and reel as many folks come here just to do that.

In comparison to the bustling and vibrant Calicut main beach, Beypore Beach may not hold the same level of allure. However, it still manages to serve as a pleasant and enjoyable hangout spot. As you explore the beach, you'll discover two interesting spots a bit further in. Although the light pillars have aged and aren't well-maintained, they offer a captivating view of the sea. An enticing feature of this beach is that you can walk approximately 1 kilometer into the sea, providing a unique experience. Beypore Beach is a must-visit destination in Kerala, offering the opportunity for fishing as well. The parking ticket system is in place, but there's no entry fee. Additionally, while there is a temporary closure of the water bridge facility during our visit, it is usually available, adding to the overall experience of the beach.

The floating bridge is amazing... Great place to spend the evening and enjoy the street food. It is really nice to walk through one kilometre long groyne (പുലിമുട്ട്). We will definitely visit again.

Very nice beach, there are two places to go little inside the beach. The light pillars got old not maintained, but good sea sight. We can walk 1km approximately into the sea. Must visit place in Kerala. Fishing also allowed here. Parking ticket, no entry ticket less crowded at the time of visit in July.

beypoor beach is a beautyful beach in calicut . we can have good times there! its a nice beach . we can have a jangar boating from there in beypoor ! also we can visit beypoor ship yard with special permission from the elites

The place is under construction and the beach is not well maintained now. If we need to visit the lighthouse, then we need to book tickets for the jankar and get crossed to the opposite side. And it is very sunny after 9 am. So it is better to avoid visiting during morning hours. The beach is also not so clean and there are many workers available there due to some construction work is ongoing. Nothing too see much compared to other places in Kozhikkode. Even Kaappad and Kozhikode beach were better maintained and clean compared to this beach.

The sunset at Beypore Beach was an awe-inspiring marvel that left me utterly captivated and mesmerized. As the day drew to a close, the sky painted a breathtaking tapestry of colors, transforming from vivid shades of orange and pink. The sun's descent was a slow and graceful dance, as if bidding a fond farewell to the world, casting a golden glow upon the tranquil waters of the Arabian Sea.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, it created a spectacular silhouette of boats bobbing in the distance, accentuating the beauty of Beypore's coastal charm. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and serenity as I stood on the shore, witnessing nature's grand finale for the day.
The sunset at Beypore Beach was not just a picturesque event; it was a soul-stirring experience.

It was good time spending there. We walked over the bridge in the morning sun was rising, some people came for walking, fishing, enjoyment etc.. It was good experience the place was calm even there was people. We got some fresh air good feeling we get a very good morning make us to start the day good. We saw crabs there. The view from the end of the bridge was awesome it was like we are in the middle of the sea, 360°sea. It was long way to reach there but was satisfying. Good experience. I will recommend to go there for morning walk.

A neatly maintained beach under DTPC. But the traffic is high to enter this premise. Different water activities like boating, Jankar, floating bridge are the specialities of this beach. Can see huge crowd on weekends.
A festival called beypore water fest is celebrated here for one week in the last of December. The programs available are diverse.
