Neck Point Park is a beachfront park in Nanaimo's north end, popular for its scenic views and hiking trails. The park offers opportunities for photography and scuba diving, with lots to explore on foot. A short 2km loop trail winds through rocky bluffs that overlook the ocean, making it a great destination for families and dog owners alike. Visitors can take in stunning views of the surrounding scenery while enjoying a leisurely stroll or picnic lunch.
Just stopped here to stretch the legs and eat some lunch on our Easter 🐣 long weekend trip. Looks like an amazing place from the little area that we saw and we all want to come back when there is more time to walk around. The views look amazing and lots to look at. We will be heading back this way in a few weeks so hopefully we'll make it work out. Highly recommended for all ages 👌 👍

This is a lovely park with lots of trees and paths along the shore. Can be a little busy at the weekend. You can always find a nice quiet place to breathe the air with very light ocean scent.

A beautiful pebble beach where you can walk till the ocean and enjoy the sea from a rock. Careful at the end since it's slippery. Lots of small living beings on the rocks and really beautiful place to enjoy the sunset.

Amazing views, and access to the ocean. It's not a good park for anyone with mobility issues though. Some of the trails are steep and rocky.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Neck Point, Nanaimo, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the stunning natural beauty to the peaceful ambiance, my experience was nothing short of perfect.
The first thing that struck me was the breathtaking view of the ocean and the impressive rock formations. The rugged coastal scenery combined with the crystal-clear waters created a picturesque backdrop that simply took my breath away. Whether you're looking for a relaxing stroll or want to capture some stunning photographs, Neck Point offers an endless wealth of beauty.
What further impressed me was the cleanliness and maintenance of the park. The entire area was well-kept, and the walking trails were clearly marked and easily navigable. The park is also dog-friendly, meaning I got to enjoy the beautiful surroundings with my furry companion. It was refreshing to see responsible pet owners who maintained cleanliness and kept their four-legged friends on leashes.
One of the highlights of my visit was the abundance of wildlife. As I walked along the trails, I spotted various bird species and even seals swimming close to the shore. Nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the diverse ecosystem and the chance to observe these creatures in their natural habitat.
Furthermore, the park amenities were top-notch. The picnic areas were well-maintained and provided a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal surrounded by the sounds of nature. Additionally, the washroom facilities were clean and well-stocked, ensuring a comfortable experience for visitors of all ages.
I cannot recommend Neck Point in Nanaimo enough for anyone seeking a tranquil escape from the bustle of everyday life. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or just looking for a serene retreat, this place has something for everyone. I am already planning my next visit to Neck Point; it truly is a hidden gem along Vancouver Island's coastline

Absolutely beautiful park, my favourite in Nanaimo. It’s a superb place to catch the sunrise in the morning and even whales if you’re lucky. The park is beautifully maintained and there’s a wide variety of terrain which keeps the trail interesting. Highly recommend you stop by even if you are just passing through Nanaimo.

A nice park with many trails. Follow the trail next to sea, you will enjoy a peace silk. When passa a narrow pass to a small island in sea that look like ET head, you will feel water touch each side. Then the trail turn into forest, you will find many doors infront of trees. These are spirit's homes. It is a amazing world.

Even when it's a cloudy day Neck Point is a great place to visit. The views never disappoint. We wandered the pathways with our puppy, even though you can't walk a dog on the actual beach this time of year you can still enjoy the view from the paths.

Beautiful park with an amazing trail system in place. There are so many spots to just BE with nature, trees, rocks and the ocean.

This park is a real gem. Trails through trees, trail along the shoreline. Different beaches to check out where some are rugged and some have tiny pebbled. Really neat spots to explore. There apparently a gnome door area but Ive yet to find it. Summer and fall you have a chance at spotting orcas as the swim up and down our coast. Dont miss visiting this place! Neck Point is also one of the top places to scuba dive in North America.
-free parking
-nice washrooms on site
-dogs on leash welcome

We love Neck point! From the gnome trail (and many more trails!), to the various beaches and bluffs, to ‘rock meadow’ as we call it in our family - it’s a beautiful park, and we’ve made many beautiful family memories here. There are new bathrooms, lots of picnic tables, fair enough parking - though with how popular it is you may end up waiting a bit for a spot if you go during summer at a peak hour. It’s also an amazing spot for photography. One of my top 3 favourite parks in Nanaimo.

This scenic park offers a diverse range of experiences within its relatively compact area. The walking trails are well-maintained and offer easy access to stunning ocean views, quiet beaches, and rugged rock formations. Wildlife sightings, especially of birds and marine life, add to the park's charm. The pebbled beaches and crystal-clear waters are perfect for a relaxing day out.

Beautiful view point in Nanaimo. We were there to experience the sunset, and ended up having a beautiful time. We sat on the logs by the water and stared at the horizon as the breeze made us feel calm. It's a great place to come to with friends and family. You have to walk almost 5 mins to get to the view points from the car park.

This place blew my mind with how big it is, forest walking trails, tonnes of rocky beach to explore, tide pools filled with purple & orange star fish, sea anemones, tiny fish & crabs, the view of the ocean from all sides of the park is beautiful, the rocky cliffs, driftwood & just everything, well done mother nature! 😍😍
Beautiful island. Good for a day trip hiking or water activities.

First time out to this lovely Island. I should have gone sooner! Endless beautiful beaches, nature trails, and open fields. Lots of deer, racoons, squirrels, and sea birds everywhere. The rock formations on the beach are incredible! It's about an 8 km hike around, so pack a lunch, or grab something from the cozy little cafe at the campsite area right near the dock. There's trail maps along the way, and trails that go through the middle of the island, to make your hike shorter. The ferry ride to the island is about 10 minutes, from Maffeo Sutton Park, downtown Nanaimo. It's walk-on only. $15 per person. Well worth it! Looking forward to going over to this beautiful nature island again!

We love taking the ferry over and spending the day exploring. We brought friends over this time with our dogs and it is now a new place for them to frequent. There is lots of parking close to where the ferry leaves.
We hiked along the trails which were well groomed and signed. There’s a couple of areas that are hard to locate such as the mine shaft etc. which could have better signage as you are going along.
Lots of great views, wildlife and sea life to enjoy!
Staff are all super friendly and there are lots of toilet facilities (outhouse) throughout the park. There is a small store/food area that sells shirts, ice cream etc.
The fairy runs quite often in the summer, every half hour and takes up to 40 passengers. Later at night and during the off-season they sometimes run the smaller boat with only takes approximately 12.
On low tide you can walk over to Protection Island and go for a bite to eat at the local pub.

Kayaked around the island with Island Romer. Fantastic day. The sandstone formations are very interesting. Also saw a river otter eating a crab... quite a rare thing to see in the wild.

Fantastic location to easily spend a whole day. Great views all around and so much wildlife. Come for a picknick, bike ride or anything you like by riding the ferry over (yes, you can bring your bike in board). Or even better, rent them from Jeff's Rentals on the island as he is an amazing person and the rates are very affordable. Paddle over to the dinghy dock pub for a bite to eat and a drink. You can even camp on this island. It's perfect.

Place is amazing!!! a Nanaimo hidden gem didn't know this place existed coming out there, was suggested to me staying at the Vancouver island residences went and checked it out for a day hike learned there was camping and came back and stayed for 5 days, it was during the week and the island was pretty empty, was tranquil, there was deer everywhere and they were pretty fearless they'd walk right through the campsites (raccoons in daylight too!) walking through the forest you felt like an ant walking through the grass most of the trees are enormous , had the beach to myself, saw purple starfish, the staff were great, and the burgers from the concession were pretty good. Plan to come back!!

Great place to go for a hike or kayak maybe both!!! lots of wildlife and great views! Be sure to give yourself lots of time to explore the whole island and if you plan to camp you'll want to make sure you secure a spot as they fill up fast. Bring lots of water and snacks and don't share with the racoons no matter how cute they seem.

Pipers Lagoon Park is a picturesque waterfront park located just north of Neck Point Park. It boasts winding trails, seaside lookouts and ample birdwatching opportunities, with stunning views of Shack Island. The 8-hectare park is a popular destination for locals looking to enjoy scenic ocean views, swimming, picnicking and kite flying.
Pipers Lagoon and Park has both an exposed beach and a more sheltered beach. Even on the exposed beach side of the path there's a small bay that's great for swimming in the summer. This path that is between the lagoon area and the exposed beach carries on and leads to a variety of trails to explore. If you're able to climb a bit to crest the rocks at the end of the initial easy and accessible pathway, you will find a well worn main path that takes you on a short hike around the rock that has many beautiful and interesting views of the surrounding ocean, lagoon area and the historical "Shack Island". Be prepared for protuding roots and rocks on the trails, once you reach the end of the initial walkway and crest the rocks to this path.

We really enjoyed our day here and hope to come back soon. The sun was out and so was everyone else looking for some time to relax in the sun. Great views from almost any vantage point. Got in some good steps walking around and checking the place out. Found a few starfish and cool looking mini crabs all different colors too. Water was still a bit cold but was fun for my kids. The drive up here was amazing and relaxing. Definitely coming back here again and I highly recommend coming here for the views and fresh air

Beautiful views. Ample parking. Short, flat gravel pathway that walks between the ocean and lagoon. Short paths down to beach. Was there on a sunny spring day with a brisk cold wind and it was still awesome.

Great place for a swim and a walk, free showers outside in car park for after your swim and lovely clean toilets, plenty of space to park your car. You can swim in the Sea or the Lagoon, really need swim shoes for sea as it’s rocky and a bit cool but I was ok in just trunks, very refreshing, can get a bit choppy so don’t venture out too far without a tow float. Lagoon more sandy and warmer and safer.

Check your tide charts before going. Low tide is better but even high tide is still a nice walk.

Stopped at this little park for a view of the Entrance Island Lighthouse. While the lighthouse was visible it was also windy and cold so I didn't stay long. There is a decent sized parking lot and the bathrooms...well, they are bathrooms. They weren't the cleanest and are fairly small but so much better than outhouses. It seemed to be a pretty popular park though. Sure it's busier in the warmer months. There are picnic tables and grass around the parking lot. There are also benches behind the drift wood along the little bit of beach I walked. I wish I had been able to visit on a day that it wasn't so windy and cold so that I could have explored the park more.

Beautiful park that is especially nice to explore as the tides come in. The hike around the peninsula is relatively short, but you can spend a lot of time wandering on the beaches and among the tide pools. Lots of room to bring a picnic blanket and some food as well. Just a short drive from downtown Nanaimo.

Westwood Lake Park is a picturesque recreational area offering wheelchair-accessible fishing float and swimming spots. The park boasts a 5.51-km trail that encircles the refreshing and warm lake, along with a playground for children to enjoy. The lake features a dock and sectioned off swimming area for kids' safety. Additionally, this park has an excellent trail for dog walking, two parking areas available, and stunning scenery all around.
Beautiful scenic walk. The park is so lovely. I am only confused with the loop though.
Great beach area.
Also, have great trail for walking dog.
It has two parking area from what I saw.

One of my favourite places in the area. This is a nice little, but not so little man made lakes. If you have young kids, or if you’re a big kid with small kids :-) and you want to relax while hey play in the water, this is the perfect location. Family friendly, beach waterfront is shallow for a decent distance.
Want to go for a hike? There’s a wonderful hike around the lake that can be done with kids, it’s approx 5km long and worth doing it.
Enjoy!

The lake is refreshing and warm, with a nice dock and sectioned off area for the kids to swim. We had been here several times for a quick dip in the summer, as we live less than 10 minutes away, but only recently did I actually do the Westwood Lake trail (an easy 6km loop around the entire lake) and can't understand why it took me so long to do it! Absolutely gorgeous walk, with not many people on the trail, and well maintained. Will be doing this trail several more times in the near future!

I recommend the second beach if you’re swimming or going from the rock wall that’s on the left as soon as you enter the park. Please keep your dog on a leash, we’ve seen attacks happen from this. There’s a playground at the second beach, theres also picnic tables and a small playground. Nice hiking trails. Downsides are it is always busy, and the new parking lot can be a bit of a pain.

So the loop around the lake is about 6.5 kms. It is a Bit easier going right at the beginning when you are facing the lake. A moderately easy walk, although a fair distance. Look out for roots on the trail. When you get within half a km to the finish you will have the choice of going up to a cliff for the view on my photo, or walking around that hill. I'm 72 and Iade it up, breathing a bit hard, but thst was expected. If you began the other direction the viewpoint comes up quickly and you have more energy to climb it. Washrooms, beach, drinking water beach all there. Obviously kis and pet friendly.

An awesome 6 km trail surrounds the lake. An offshoot trail heads to nearby Morrell Sanctuary which is also worth a visit. There is trail access to the summit of Mount Benson. That one is a very hard hike though.
Located at the center of the city, a nice place to walk and unwind. Some local restaurants and food truck around, playgrounds for childrens and bikepaths for bikers.

A beautiful park, most of which is well kept. The play area is very nice. The water is clear and good for swimming. Near the bridge we saw crabs, starfish, clams and other wildlife.
Near the entrance from the parking lot there is a pavilion with water misting that the kids liked playing in.
Although pretty on the outside, the bathrooms are gross and disgusting.
Parking can be difficult at times, especially with the size of the park and the many people that like it.

Incredible waterfront with an available playground for kids. Parking is accessible; don’t forget to get a ticket. We even spotted a floating restaurant!

There is a fantastic play area for kids, a mini version of beach and for adults there’s fishing area and an amazing stroll walkway. We enjoyed looking at the sea planes taking off and landing right in front of us. You also get a super close view of BC Ferries passing by along with smaller boats and jet skis. If you’re hungry the there’s an amazing Mexican diner and a typical Canadian Pub just minutes away if you walk towards the marina and pass by the sea plane dock.
I’d definitely recommend to

Maffeo Sutton Park has everything you need in a park. You can play, run, walk, swim, eat, sail and catch crabs too!
In this Park, most of the people come just to relax in a very nice weather. They'd also watch the seaplanes come and go. People will have a look on the fresh catch crabs...
Note: You need to have a Tidal sports license for you to be able to catch shellfish here in BC. There is a size for the crabs that you can only get. You cannot get female crabs...
The Nanaimo Museum showcases the history of the Canadian city of Nanaimo through exhibits that cover various topics such as local logging and mining industries, sports hall of fame, and an art gallery. We actually needed a bathroom (washroom) so snuck into the museum. But we discovered a little treasure of trove of local history. The saddest was the 132 miners who died in a methane explosion in the local mine. Chinese laborer's were registered by their number, not their name. Worth the visit and targeted at all ages. Even the teen in our family grunted that they were impressed.

Absolutely amazing. I loved each exhibit. My 10-year-old daughter was blown away by how far we've come as a people. We could see the indigenous peoples' canoes; the early settlers' fun competitions (the bathtub boats), school rooms, stores, and even wedding gowns. We got to see a mine that gave us chills, and so much more. We will definitely be back!

Very centrally located. You cannot really miss it.
When we showed up, entry-fees were by donation only, so it can be free if you’re on a budget. The recommended donation is also only $2 per person which is probably unheard-of for any kind of exhibit these days.
We enjoyed learning a bit of history before further exploring the rest of Nanaimo. It definitely had some quality / well-maintained exhibits.
I would say this is a must-go for anyone visiting nanaimo for the first time if they have 45-60min to spare. Or even 30min if you want to quickly skim thru.
Colliery Dam Park is a serene and wooded area with trails for hiking, jogging or biking. The park also offers opportunities for seasonal activities such as swimming, boating, and fishing. What a beautiful little piece of nature, I felt as though I had been there many, many years ago as a young kid fishing with my dad way back in the late 70's. You will notice I never shot any photos of the dam, I'm not sure why? Likely as the dam just was not as interesting as the photos I did take! I'll plan a re-do for sure!

If you love dogs and nature this is the place, beautiful all year around. Plus there's a smaller lake/reservoir that dogs, people and otters(!) swim in. Fishing allowed.

Worst experience. The park was only meant for dogs, not at all maintained well. Was excited with the pictures and tried hard to find the falls with the help of an old couple. But finally was very disappointed to view the falls. There was not even a single sign board in the whole park or around the trial to reach the falls. It was around 2km round trial which was very difficult for family and kids particularly when there are no directions/signs provided

A stunning park perfect for bringing your doggo to.... Keep in mind the second dam is off leash, and the first dam is on-leash....

Beautiful park. Main trail is paved, side trails are dirt but wide and well maintained. There's also a sand beach and swimming area

Wonderful hike! The spillway and Granny Falls are rushing with so much power it’s really awesome to see!!!

A fabulous little park only a 5 min drive outside of downtown Nanaimo. The full off-leash dog friendly loop is about 30 min around with places for your pup to run, climb, and swim. It’s a beautiful place! If you’re as lucky as me, you might have a local playing the trumpet for a little jazz in the park - such a treat in a Saturday morning!
Was nice. I guess it's an ok walk when you are too early for the ferry. It's noisy as it runs along the hwy. And there is dog poop everywhere. So watch your step. The woods are cool and the rocky shore is so cool to look at

Something for everyone ! Great walk for all ages and skill levels. Walk a little or a lot. Most of walk is stroller friendly and my 4 year old was able to walk the entire trail. Suitable for dogs. Lots of spots with benches and natural rest stops. Beach access and great ocean views. Keep an eye out for cool art work. Some stairs and harder trail towards end of walk. Enjoy

One of the best (if not the best) walks in Nanaimo, in my opinion. Beautiful mix of ocean and forest, as well as views of the Nanaimo cityscape, Mount Benson, Gabriola Island, and coastal mountains on the mainland. Nice mix too of flat walking with some elevation and stairs. Some portions may be accessible (right after the parking lot) for those with mobility issues.

The parking was a little confusing as we got lost, it's at Jackson Road! But after we found our way it was a great little hike. We didn't go all the way around but this place was SO scenic with the sun!

I love this park. It's approx. 5 km round trip. Hiking shoes recommended. Lots of stairs in the park which makes it not wheelchair friendly. You can often find seals swimming about, lots of birds, and a sweet spot for photography. You can expect to complete the hike in about 1 hr 10 min.

One of my alllll time favourite trails to walk , it's so beautiful, easy ( with a few set of stairs ) lots to look at & if you play pokemon go there's lots of stops and gyms wich is an added bonus , if I had to rate this place I would have to say 50 out of ten ! Just an alll around beautiful place !

Awesome trail! Some stairs throughout, as well as roots, so watch your footing! Beautiful views of Nanaimo and the mountains while you walk alongside the ocean/estuary. No toilets. Right next to the pulp mill so sometimes it's smelly. Lots of really neat places to look at the hole-y sandstone and sea life (birds, seals, etc.) A few benches along the trail. Great for dog walking.

It was grueling hot when we visit this place this summer. But the trail has the beautiful scenery which helps you forget the tiring heat particularly when you reached the tree covered trail.
Just a recommendation bring some sandwiches or snack before coming here because there are no restaurants or food shop nearby.
We went here after our visit at Wildplay without taking any lunch. We thought we could find restaurants nearby. Unfortunately, we didn't.
Nevertheless, it was still a gorgeous walk.

Great trail in a very unsuspecting area! Beautiful views & a very well taken care of trail. It’s a little confusing to find though, the maps doesn’t take you directly there you have to follow the signs and not the directions

A good 2 hr long walk with kids round trip and multiple stops to enjoy views n catch breath..
Nice hike! lots of up and down and changing scenery through the whole thing. The board walk down to the falls is still under construction so probably better to wait till summer when it’s finished to get right down to the base of the falls safely!
Sean Penner — Google review
Visited in December after heavy rain and the falls were at full force. Beautiful sight and worth the 90 min round trip hike (from the Creekside parking). Surprisingly, the trail was mostly dry. There were some paddles and middy areas, but they could be easily avoided.
The trail is clearly marked the whole way. The trail itself is not super scenic, but it’s a nice and somewhat challenging hike, there are some areas where you have to go uphill.
The stairs at the fall could be challenging. Once you go down to the falls - prepare to get a little wet.

Nice hike with a lot of different trails to explore. Plenty of quiet swimming holes along the creek if you're looking for privacy.
I have never not found fossils there. Just takes a keen eye. Ammonites, shark teeth, bivalves and even ammolite (found twice).
Be very careful around the rockfaces though. The shale is extremely brittle, especially after winter. I've almost been hit by falling rocks a few times. I often see parents letting there kids play near the rockface right at the falls. I wouldn't recommend it as huge chunks fall off regularly.
Jonathan Hreno — Google review
Beautiful walk! There are lots of fungi in the autumn, and there is a nice variation in the terrain and a few bridges too, depending on the route you take. Warning, if you can’t handle a fair number of stairs, don’t come from the trail head on Weigles Rd, use the one on Jameson. I don’t think it’s quite as nice a walk, but still wonderful, and that way you can get to the top of the waterfall with basically no stairs, if I recall correctly.
Natalie Crowhurst — Google review
A great hike. The new stairs are SO NICE and a good gluten workout. It's a beginner hike for sure, but advanced enough to get your heart pumping. The waterfall is beautiful!

Beautiful walk to the waterfall in the snow! ❄️ The trail was well marked and very pretty. The hike/walk was easy for the most part until the very end. With the recent snow, some patches are slippery. Micro spikes are good to have.

The hike is pretty beautiful.. I love the excitement during the hike to see that gorgeous waterfall!
But, if that's your motivation..be mindful of when you visit this! We took this hike sometime in September and the waterfall was pretty underwhelming and sort of disappointing! Check the pictures!!
The hike is still worth though if you know the state of waterfall you should be expecting!
I would rate this hike easy.. it gets a bit steep while returning. The stairs and board walk towards the waterfall are just gorgeous in the whole view!
I am going to visit this again for sure.. this time when I know it will be a great waterfall to see!!
Also, good parking space (but not a huge one!). There is one portable restroom near parking lot and it was surprisingly very clean!!
Lots of dogs on the hike and alot many playing/swimming near the waterfall!

This was a 35 minute hike from the car which was parked at the first small parking lot with the yellow gate and it’s a good grind at times but the reward of the falls is well worth every step!

The Falls were very lovely. It had snowed earlier so the stair steps were icy. We wore traction aids. We parked at the Benson Creek Falls North Parking lot. Nice hike in with lots of stairs for exercise.

We went in pouring rain from the Creekside parking area. The trails are very well maintained despite the pouring rain it didn’t have very much puddling on the trail. The stairs at the falls provide a very nice view of the waterfall. Will definitely return on a day with better weather.
LoveShelties C — Google review
Parking is available in the location. The washroom is available in the parking lot only. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes to reach the waterfall if you don’t deviate from the right trail path. The trail is beginner level hike. Swimming under the waterfall after the hike was amazing.

Ammonite Falls is just magical ✨ Great for families, walk/mini hike with friends and bring your friendly dogs along! Trails are quite safe as there are always people there and the scenery is indescribable. Most photos will not do the falls any justice (some will of course, with professional photographers who know how to evoke emotion through a photo). Definitely worth the visit!
So, we had our dog who is physically challenged so only strolled about 1 k in woods. First time so scoping out. Next trip I'll bring her terrain stroller so we can spell her. The woods are nice. Looking forward to tea and cheese sannys at the water's edge next trip.

Very scenic hike. We went with our 9 month old in a chest carrier and it was fine. A few steep sections as well as some stair sections. Light to moderate physical exertion.
Well worth the hike to get to the lookout over the water at the end.

This is the best trial. Nice decline to the ocean, and slight uphill on the way back. Intermediate walk. Beautiful scenery. You have a beautiful view at the end. Take my 2 year old here 2x a week. He enjoys this walk . Great for puddle jumping at the beginning of the trail aswell. Off leash dog trail- Just be aware if you have small children.

One of the most gorgeous hikes just outside of Nanaimo. Be sure to wear waterproof footwear in the winter because the trails are usually wet. You'll definitely fall in love with this hike if you love river side walls that lead to the coast!

Such a great place to get out and experience the west coasts best coast on VI. I do hope they are able to protect this gem. definitely worth the walk. Keep in mind there is a pretty good change in elevation but it's fairly gradual. lots of folks and their pups.(Off Leash) :) Sea Lions and Beautiful Coastal views.

We had nice long walk until my husband slipped and dislocated two fingers. Some parts of the shore were slippery so I recommend you wear proper shoes even though it is not a very long hike.

Great family trail down to views of the Dodd’s Narrows. You can bring a stroller down the path. You can hear the sea lions barking and there is a chance you will see some as well. Long gradual hill coming back up… you don’t realize it going down. So you may be packing some young ones on the way back or tossing them back in the stroller.

We love the duck pond but be sure to bring some bird food for the kids enjoy feeding the ducks. I did not see any sign boards feeding the ducks. Correct me I am wrong.
Lots of birds and other wildlife to see. It would be fun to do bird watching here.
The trail is wide which is good for Social Distancing.
The falls is amazing. Instagrammable beauty. We love the fall colors and the moss accent.
The trail is mostly flat and easy. We enjoyed our walk and took a lot of fall pictures.
I cannot believe that it is situated at the city center.

Volleyball horseshoe and Tennis courts, and a fine disc golf course. Magnificent trees and a scenic creek.
Newly paved paths are great for cycling through the forest.
Shelters and BBQ stations.

Really nice forest trail with a waterfall, huckleberries, some deer, and old growth trees. There is a salmon creek as well but currently no salmon. About a half hour walk through. There is also some totem poles that have been places on the ground due to wear and tear over the years. You can get a little lost in here as there are multiple directions you can go. Smells like nature! There is also a swimming pool at this park, parking, and disc golf.

Beautiful place! Love the waterfalls. Plenty of parking in several locations in and around the park.
Nice little hike. Something we can easily do with a spare hour or two. Some tricky sections but we found that there were almost always easy routes that took us around the steep parts.

It's a good hike uphill to get to the abyss, lots of trails to follow. Some slippery spots with the rocks when they are wet wear proper foot wear.

Interesting hike. Don’t be misled by the map that the ‘crack’ is close to parking. It’s actually approx 25 min one way (slight uphill). You follow signs #1 to 12. The ‘crack’ is around 13 or 14. Some signs are hard to spot.

You man find it difficult to reach to Abyss trail as it’s not well marked from the parking area. We followed the extension trail to reach Abyss crack spot. It’s a moderate hiking!
kapil pant — Google review
Great trail. I did the 8.9 km extension loop, still a little bit of snow and such but with descent shoes it's no problem at all. The trails are nice and we'll maintained, with great views and a cool little maze type thing near the ending loop. Highly recommended.
steve henderson — Google review
Pretty easy uphill hike. With a tween, going at an easygoing pace with some exploring and a short break, it took 30-40 minutes to get to the crack. The route may be a bit challenging for people with weaker knees or unstable footing. There's roadside parking at the trailhead. Just follow the signs. The few points where there are no signs at all, those are forks that eventually meet up again, so it doesn't matter which way you take. The actual abyss is quite interesting and it's fun to take some posed photos. A lot of people have been throwing sticks and rocks inside — please don't do that. Keep this feature clean so everyone can enjoy it in its natural state.
Vincent Ċ — Google review
Great trails, endless adventure options.
Alyson H — Google review
The abyss itself is only a small portion of the hike, however, it's still very enjoyable and I imagine different times of the year would be more colorful, tons of Arbutus trees to see along these trails and a good view of mt.benson
Jodie Parkin — Google review
It's a simple trail for anyone in average shape, the challenge regardless is worth it for the view towards the ocean. The Abyss is quite fascinating as well, I won't add photos, I don't wanna spoil it, I want everyone to find their own interpretation. For me, it's about vulnerability, we all have cracks in our defenses, most of us anyways and I believe it's not weakness. Anyways, there is a decently steep hill at the beginning, take it slowly if you need to. The rest is basically a breeze, then you just enjoy the trail and climb up and there it is. The Abyss, have fun 👍 My photos were okay but you guys could probably get better shots.

The Bastion is a well-preserved wooden fortress from 1853 that houses historical relics and provides a daily cannon-firing ceremony. Admission to the site is free, making it an accessible attraction for all who want to witness this exciting piece of history come to life.
The most famous historical landmark in Nanaimo. The museum inside is small, three levels, and only open seasonally but entry is free (or by donation) - It's definitely worth a visit when in town during the summer.

Avoid the Tim Hortons if you can though, it's always busy and the drinks aren't that great (but for the price it's not bad, and the staff are usually really nice!). Crazy busy during holiday season so shop early if you can.

This mall stays strong and keeps getting stores to replace those that move on. The selection is great, it’s very walkable, has a great food court and great anchor stores. Also at time of writing the only Toys’R Us on the island.
Needs some discount places though, otherwise great.

Largest mall in the city! Shops, food court, services and few fastfood inside.

Mall is great with the many stores and food court.
Management/ security a bit off.
They did not honour the November 11 silence at 1100hrs. Instead carried on with music and announcements.
Dec. 12 during the afternoon a security problem. Alarm bells ringing, shop doors closing. People wondering ,no announcement and an evacuation expected.
What if it had been a fire......????

There is a massive selection of food and stores to check out i could go on forever of how cool and fun this mall is. Lots of people but that is a mall but most the shop keepers are kind and will help when you need it. Love this place a lot I hope anyone who goes in will think the same thing.

The customer service staff at Wood Grove are so helpful! They are incredibly attentive, patient, and thoughtful. They quickly fulfill all of my various needs, especially when it comes to renting a car. It's simple and convenient.

I prefer going here then Victoria just because they have all the shops I like in one place. Wish they had more choices for food but I’m sure new places will move in. Definitely love the new Japanese stores they are a bit overpriced. They have both lush and bath n body with a saphora all in one area.

Last Saturday, we went to Woodgrove Mall. There was this cool QR code scan event happening to receive cash voucher. They always have holiday promotions, gift cards, and lucky draws going on. This place has a bunch of stores, lots of brands, and a clean, bright shopping environment. It's our top choice for shopping with friends and family!

It's an amazing customer service experience today in H&R Block Woodgrove Branch. Start with your receptionist Ms. Priyanka followed by Ms. Jessy very approachable, long patience and a helpful heart. Including Agnes explain and complete my details and extend her help for my application. Also Andrew offered help for me.
I liked their teamwork, and I will recommend you to others

Attended a movie at the cinema and afterward grabbed something to eat at the food court. Both areas were clean and tidy, price of theatre ticket very reasonable ($9.50 CDN), but concession stand typically wayyyy over priced. Large food court very accommodating, extensive selection of a good variety of quality food vendors around perimeter, easy access from all directions. Relatively clean and tidy considering only two cleaning staff on duty doing their best to cover such a large eating area. Public washrooms could use some improvements in maintaining a reasonably clean space. Overall however, this mall is surprisingly well kept, maintains an above average shopping experience with a wide varieties of stores, restaurants and services, easily accessible even for a senior citizen. Excellent number of parking spots available around the entire mall complex, again, with easy access to all sides/entrances of facility. I can easily recommend this location for all shopping needs, especially durong an era when most malls across the country have waned in popularity. I would easily give it 5 stars if not for the wanting condition of the public restrooms.

Pretty much everything in one place. Not massive but decent. Recent reno. Clean modern feel. Means you don’t need to go to Vic to shop if your on the north or mid island. Lots of other great shopping near by including Costco, Cabellas, Chapters and all the other box stores.

I love this mall. So bright. Definitely different from Pine Center mall in Prince George.
Lots of store outlets. Big Parking Space.
Food court has diffrent food choices to choose from. Lots of tables and chairs to sit to. Great for social distancing for eating too.

Nice shopping centre on vancouver Island. It has branded store, kids play area and fast food
outlets. The only drawback is closing time is quite early. This place should open bit late atleast till 9pm
