Bower Ponds, situated on a previous sawmill site, is an admired park in Red Deer containing ponds suitable for fishing and ice skating. It also boasts a pavilion housing a cafe and skate rentals. The park is home to various species of birds including ducks. During winters, visitors can enjoy exhilarating skating activities while in summers they can navigate the cool waters with paddleboats, kayaks or waterballs.
This park is absolutely fantastic, either to go with your children with lots of space to run and playgrounds to have fun or just to walk to keep your body in motion. Not mention that you can skate during the winter on the frozen lake. Well maintenenced park with cleaned washrooms and lots of garbage bins to throw your trash and keep it cleaned.

What a lovely gem in the heart of Red Deer, beautiful paved walking trails, pond and playground area for children., and is also pet friendly. The Cronquist Tea House is a beautiful Victorian style ‘mansion’ and is located within the park. The park is a lovely place to spend the day…

Very beautiful park with some nice views of the river and lake. Lots of free parking and there are peddle boats for rent and play structures for the kids.

Beautiful park that has it all. There is plenty of parking and easy access for all to the park. There are lots of walking trails and a large playground. There are public washrooms. There is central building that houses the washrooms along with a snack bar and lots of seating. The park itself is peaceful and has lots of outdoor amenities. Lots of benches and picnic tables. You can rent paddle boats to go out on the ponds. There are lots of interesting places and informative information boards to read and learn about nature. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and definitely recommend visiting.

Kids love the park and its a great place for a family outting. Also the paddle boats are fun or you can rent canoes, trails connect to other parks. They also have the football and baseball parks. As well as the stage where they have preformers. Usually this is where the Canada Day celebration is held, as well as other festivals throughout the year(before covid). They have a concession where you can rent skates or get yours sharpened, also bathrooms and food available( as long as it's open). They also hold a games night there( before covid). There's also the historical house which you can tour when open, they also do a mothers day tea as well as the space can be rented I believe.

My family and I love going to Bower Ponds. We often rent a pedal boat and tour around the pond. There are washrooms here, a concession and a childrens playground. You can also rent an electric scooter to tour around. They have some picnic tables and a trail around part of the pond.

This park is a beautiful way to spend a day no matter what the season. Water toys in the summer and skating in the winter. Rental skates are available. Scooters are also within reach. Take a stroll on the pathways while enjoying the beauty of nature. Feeling energetic and playful? Take advantage of the many activities you can do with park provided areas. Have a picnic while soaking up the 😎!

Great park in the city for a walk along the river or paddle a canoe down it. Festivals and activities often hosted here. Lots of tables for a lunch with a view.

Nice little getaway in the city during all seasons...even on a rainy day in fall!
The Kerry Wood Nature Centre is situated adjacent to Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, a federal migratory bird sanctuary in Red Deer. It spans across 118 hectares of municipal-owned land and offers an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning natural beauty while exploring the trails. The site is home to remarkable wildlife including beavers, porcupines, birds, and ducks. However, the interactive exhibits at the centre seldom function properly even though it's the only relevant nature centre in Red Deer.
This is a fantastic nature centre that all of the family can enjoy. The building contains an interpretive centre and gift shop. There are public washrooms and lots of parking. There is a cool play area for kids. There is direct access to the Gaetz bird sanctuary and a 4 km trail loop My wife and I had a great time here and definitely recommend coming here.

Always a peaceful place to walk alone and feel safe. You may see different kinds of birds, ducks, geese and other animals too. I have also seen moose rabbits and deer. They occasionally have a heard of goats come to do weed-eating, and those are adorable.

Kerry wood nature center is amazing, great Flora and fauna to be seen. The leaves and trees were lush with the previous rain 🌧 Had such a beautiful cool hike with our kiddos, they thought they going on a forest hike. Will be back soon. Love the colors of fall on the trails

The trails are great... but I've got to be honest and give this place 3/5 stars.
The interactive exhibits rarely work as intended... which is a HUGE bummer.
You'd think this place would capitalize on being the only relevant nature center in Red Deer. An urban connection would be nice.
July 7 update: Interactive exhibits are working! 5 stars!

The alarming number of 5 and 4 star reviews for this place is reflective of what’s here. Stunning views, lots of wildlife around, this is a huge reason of what makes Red Deer great. The air smells so fresh, the oaths are ready to walk on, and the nature centre building is super fun to walk through and learn things about this place. Never a bad time :)

Great place to go do a nature walk! The education center is lovely and the staff are friendly. Will be back - with my camera next time!
Krystal Elder — Google review
We have been to the nature centre several times and each time we have found it a wonderful place for walking and bird watching. However we were there yesterday and for the first time visited the indoor facilities. We were very impressed. The walk through nature centre was very interesting for adults and children, and very informative about animals, birds, and their habitats. It was so nice to have the comfortable settees, and even a piano which anyone could play. The washrooms were very clean and how lovely to have a painting of deer on the doors.
The gift shop had a wonderful selection of gifts for children and adults, and the staff were pleasant and helpful, and told us about the different walks at the back of the facilities.
We appreciated the coolness of the building after being in the heat.
Many thanks to you all for providing this beautiful place. We hope to visit again soon.

Just held my son's 6th birthday party there. The interpreter Raeleen was wonderful and interactive with the kids. The only small constructive comment I would leave would be maybe to have an extra interpreter there to help if needed, but over all it was wonderful!! The kids seemed to have a good time doing the program for them. Definitely will recommend to other friends.
Discovery Canyon is an outdoor water park that is perfect for nature enthusiasts. It uses river-fed water and is located just over 3km outside of Red Deer. It offers a great experience for those who love the outdoors and prefer outdoor pools to indoor ones. Admission to the park is free, so visitors can spend all day soaking up the sun while floating down the river on a tube. The place itself is very clean and beautiful, making it a great location for picnics with family or friends.
It is always a delightful place to enjoy nature. The trails are well groomed for walking or bike riding. The birds never disappoint you coming to feed sunflower seeds from your hand. And we had the cautious pleasure of seeing a moose at the rivers edge today.
Joy Boyes — Google review
5 star experience in Alberta! (Since there are a lot of reviews I’ll focus on the useful).
It’s a man-man river using the actual Battle River as a water source. The kids pay $6 for a wristband which let them use the tubes. They go up a path where there is a miniature waterfall connected to a small pool. Once you get on your tube it’s a few minutes until you reach the bottom of the river which opens up onto a small and shallow man-made lake with a beach. Your kids can build sandcastles at the beach, swim, go down the river, picnic on the grass, play at the really fantastic playground or eat at the concession. It’s a whole half day experience.
Adults can also go, I went with my toddler, and weigh 130 lbs plus his 25 lbs, but bottomed out at a few places. Anyone much heavier might have a hard time not getting stuck since it’s very shallow.
I went on a Thursday at supper time when it was warm. It was not crowded but it was busy. I don’t think I would go on a weekend as it was already busy on an off-day. The wait times would be too long to enjoy much.
Great prices and a fun experience!

This is a great little place for a day trip. Definitely need to get here earlier than 1:30. We didn't get to rent tube the line up was very long and slow moving. We didn't wait as it was get a tube as returned. Watched the line and where we would have been was 1hr and 40 mins to get to the front. Lol. You can bring your own tubes so we will look into that for next time.

We visited on a Monday afternoon. It was very busy, but still enjoyable. The price of $6/rider for tube rental is very reasonable and everyone had a blast. Luckily there is shade available while standing in line for the lazy river.

The place is so clean and beautiful! You can have picnic. While your kids is having fun swimming and riding in the blue tube in their lazy river! Kids loves it! And if you don't wanna be wet there is a big playground for your little one to play. We live in Calgary and this is a worth to drive! Will definitely coming back to this place! Highly recommended for Families or with friends :)

We had lots of fun, parking can get a little hectic so I suggest getting there early. You are able to bring picnic things like a small propane grill for hotdogs or burgers, bring some shade and sunscreen! If not they have a concession stand that sells burgers and hotdogs, ice cream, pop and water. They also provide tubes to go down the lazy river, a change area/washrooms and a place to rinse off. Definitely coming back here again with the whole family.
Patricia Pavia — Google review
It's great place to spend time with friends and family full day.
Best time to reach before noon to get spot and save waiting time for dip.
Tube is $6 rent. You can bring urs too but should be open underneath.
Well maintained. Tables r clean too.
kanika behl — Google review
It's a nice place for a picnic and surprisingly if you go just pass the washrooms onto the bridge it gets quiet you feel a quiet connection with nature. Some swans (or other big white birds) were floating by on the water. So while the kids played in the water, which isn't deep by the way or too fast, you can take a nice hike or bike ride around that trail near the canyon. It's really cool.
CONS:
Not much else to do except eat your food and the waterpark. No place to rent chairs or anything and the washrooms double as changing rooms so the queue for the ladies tends to be longer and some customers don't clean up properly after.
Dolapo Oni — Google review
Had a wonderful time with my family today, Awesome place to bring your kids!! Clean and well maintained. Affordable rental tubes. The canyon staffs made sure the kids are safe.
Great place to spend your day if you're looking to do something in this heat!

Super reasonable pricing for rentals, lots of sitting grassy areas. Wonderful day out in the sun. If there is one piece of negative feedback I’d give, if they have control of the volume of water is to add more. I was getting stuck, and seeing other adults getting stuck too often.
Evan McRitchie — Google review
Fun activity for families. The water is shallow, I'd say around knee level on the bottom so it's safe for kids. There's a place where you can rent the tube. It was $6 per tube and you cal also order snacks there.

Heritage Ranch is a vast, picturesque ranch and wedding venue that also offers horseback rides. The area boasts of numerous scenic walking trails that are paved or graveled depending on the chosen route. Visitors can indulge in fishing at the nearby pond surrounded by lush trees. Horse enthusiasts will be thrilled to see the magnificent horses within the confines of the ranch. Heritage Ranch is a serene place to relax, with excellent customer service from knowledgeable staff members led by Joel, who runs it impeccably well.
The grandchildren love visiting the horses. We always bring carrots to feed them. The playground is lots of fun as well.
We haven't yet tried the pony rides or the trail rides but I'm guessing they are great as well. The horses all seem so friendly!

I bought the romantic vacation package I believe it’s called. The jacuzzi room that came with the package was nice. Big like a hot tub. The slay ride and five course meal was nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Hertiage Ranch because it's always a wonderful recreational destination. The walking paths that connect Heritage Ranch to a network of parks in Red Deer include forest and wildlife into an urban center, and this makes Red Deer an amazing place to visit, exercise, and enjoy nature.

What a fabulous wedding venue! Kim kept in touch with us the last 2 years. They were amazing with rescheduling due to Covid. Kim was easy to communicate, organized and professional. She thought of things like umbrellas and a cooler for the heat that had not crossed my mind. This is a perfect location for any type of wedding. The food was phenomenal. They plated 50 steak dinners cooked to perfection with the most delicious quinoa and salad dressing. Shout out to chef Raj and his team. Rachael and the other members of the bartending team kept the party going. I feel like a have known them for a lifetime. When I asked what I had to do prior to the end of the night they took care of it all.
They made special arrangements to have the ponies stay late for our guests and our kids. Ashley who drove our carriage never rushed us and gave us extra time for pictures. Of course shout out to Pearl and Ruby our Belgium carriage horses. Wow. Just wow! If you are a bride looking for a gorgeous venue this is it!

Great place to explore and play. Doesn’t matter the season there is a lot to do from cross country skiing tracks, to biking and walking paths, parks and so much more. Great for kids to explore and interact with animals and play on one of the two parks. If you are driving through or live in red deer it is a good place to go

The atmosphere, ambiance was very nice. If you want to impress a date, great choice. One of the few places I searched in Red Deer with white table cloths.
Service was second to none, polite and helpful servers, definitely deserved the tip.
The three course meal. First thing you'll notice is the price. On the higher side without doubt. I've been fortunate enough to eat at some amazing restaurants across Canada and the US, this was one of the higher priced ones.
The courses, salad, pasta and créme brulé. The food was good, fresh, but not the flavors and quality that blow your mind and make you want to come back for more. Over all with drinks, (1 bottle of wine) an extra dessert, the total cost was plus or minus $300. I've had far better mouth watering gotta have this again and more for much much less.
Disregarding the price, I'd probably do this again for the overall experience as I haven't seen anything else comparable in this area. Or quite possibly make the drive to Calgary next time.

We had an amazing time at the Heritage Ranch . The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and healthy, and the location was stunning.
The staff at the Heritage Ranch were friendly, attentive and professional. They made us feel very welcome and pampered throughout our evening. They also arranged a variety of activities for us such as a Christmas sleigh ride, an outdoor log fire & a s’mores bar.
The food at Heritage Ranch was the highlight of our visit. The chef used fresh & delicious ingredients to create mouth-watering dishes that satisfied our appetite and our taste buds. We loved the gourmet dinner and the dessert menu was unforgettable. The ranch also catered to our dietary preferences and allergies, and offered a selection of fine wines and craft beers.

Cute little market!
Wheelchair accessible, private gender-neutral washrooms, not too noisy
We brought grandma for some fun
It reminds me of The Crossroads in Calgary but 1/4 of the size.

I hope one day they start doing art murals like Bountiful in Edmonton does and feature a different artist each month

This great year-round indoor market makes shopping local easy and enjoyable. I love the vibe of the interior of the market and the layout is easy to navigate. Lots of regular and pop-up vendors which makes for a good mix of fresh and fixture options. They also seem to have little events for the family fairly regularly; a fun extra.

Yesterday went there for first time and will be the last time. So sad they have Gretzky’s picture hidden behind a glass cabinet . Hockey game you couldn’t play bc you can’t play hockey without a puck. Couldn’t play a lot of the games as they were in disrepair. Red Deer doesn’t deserve to have this. Put it in a place where it will be more respectful. Pretty lame.

Finally we were able to visit this place! It was only $12 for the boys and I which was great. There was so many things to do and interact with. My kids asked if they could have their B-Day parties here! My boys are aged 4 - 11 and really enjoyed the visit.

Sunnybrook Farm Museum is a preserved 19th-century farm in Red Deer, Alberta that offers visitors an immersive historical experience. The museum features a log home and costumed actors who demonstrate various aspects of farming life from the era. In addition to the demonstrations, visitors can explore antique farm equipment and buildings while learning about different types of farm animals. This family-friendly attraction provides an enjoyable way for children to learn about agriculture and history, as well as inspiring some to pursue a career in farming themselves.
Great place to get a glimpse of some of the equipment and tools used in farming over the last century. Many buildings to explore, great space for children as well.

This is a fantastic place to bring to family for a friendly, entertaining and educational trip. Spring on the Farm and Pioneer Days should definitely be in everyone's calendar! Can't recommend enough!

Great museum featuring old time rural living and farming life. You can get up close to farm machinery and and even farm animals. There are lots of things to see and explore. There is lots of parking. And there are washroom facilities available. My wife and I came at the end of the season so it was quite and not a lot going on. That was okay as we enjoyed the sights with less people around. But for a better experience it is probably best when it is high season. It was still nice.

What a little gem, right behind Bower Mall, it's a mini pioneer village. Older kids can hop in old tractors, and try out vintage tools and there are animals and a great playground for the little guys. Staff were lovely and the place was beautifully maintained.

What a terrible experience I went there with my 93 year old dad who uses a walker to get around. The place is much, much larger than it used to be. The entrance is now at the south end. No one was at the entrance. It's very bad to get around with mobility issues. When my dad had made it to the north end and was tired I seen that the gate was open and there's no signs anywhere so I went to get my vehicle and drive in the gravel driveway to pick him up. Then this person came flying up on a golf cart yelling at us that we can't drive in there. It was the first I guess staff person? We had seen in our time there. I don't recommend this place for anyone with mobility issues. Be prepared to be yelled at. Very unfriendly and poorly staffed if in fact there's really any staff there? How would you know??

This place is adorable and my kids loved it. I found it by accident while looking for Bower Place and decided to let the kids have some fun and learn a thing or three. There were several farm animals to see and learn a bit about, and a huge assortment of vintage and antique farm equipment and buildings to explore. After we left my oldest daughter informed me she now wants to be a farmer which sounds like fun to me!

I love Kin Kanyon Red Deer! It's such a beautiful spot to bring the family on a nice summer day! Check out my variety channel on youtube "Thej's Life" for a full video of a fun family day we spent at Kin Kanyon this spring! There are picnic tables, benches, public washrooms and tons of green space to have a kid's birthday party, lounge or play frisbee, play catch, whatever you want!

Really great place for a walk, equipped with firepits, and playgrounds. Generally pretty quiet, and a nice place to wander about to get lost from some of the other parts of the city. This goes for most of Red Deer's pathways. Just be aware they're generally not maintained heavily in winter, so be prepared to get a little wet.

There are alot of picnic tables, washrooms, a park and a beautiful green space. We like to walk the paths and then sit down and have a family picnic. A perfect place to spend family time and relax. The city of Red Deer keeps this park very clean. A+

I have to evaluate this as a CITY. So...city sounds, city smells, etc. We own property in the forest with real trails and nature, but it's not fair to make that comparison. It's well maintained, washroom and paved trails. If that's what you want, it's great.

Beautiful park with many trails, a creek, a small water park, play park for the kids, picnic areas all over lots of shaded areas for those hot days, fire pits, washrooms, parking area, although a little steep hill to go down you can use a wheelchair the trails are paved and the rest of the areas are grass and trees.
I have been going to this park for over 30 years and I still love it, my dog loves to go walking there also and if he gets to hot I wet him down at the water park. People love to take there kids biking on the trails

Beautiful park for holding cookouts. Small playground that's ideal for younger children. No wood unfortunately, you have to bring your own. But lots of tables, big green space and walking trails. Also a small water park and restrooms with water fountains out front. Great for an afternoon of being outdoors
Three Mile Bend is a recreational park that allows off-leash dog walking, with ponds for canoeing and a freestyle ski-jump. The park is known for its dog-friendly atmosphere, so visitors may encounter many dogs along the trail. The area is surrounded by ponds where people can canoe and dogs can swim. Although wildlife sightings are rare due to the noise from dogs and people, skunks are known to inhabit the area.
The best dog park ever! Lots of trails to explore and water for the dogs! There is a beautiful dog memorial and many birds around ! It's our favorite place to go for walks

This place needs to be fully fenced especially during the winter… i took my dog out for a walk not knowing I was going to be walking back to my vehicle with an empty leash. My girl who had excellent recall found a crack in the river that I couldn’t see behind the trees and I tried to call her so that I could see her and make sure she was with me. When I finally could see where it was open and see where she was, she was very close to the crack in the river. I tried calling her back in a panic. Her main goal was to grab and drink and come right back. she ended up falling through the crack and got sucked under and there wasn’t a place for her to resurface. I have never been more devastated in my life. After waiting for help to arrive. I noticed about 10 dogs during this time trying to go down to the river to where the crack was and I stopped them knowing the outcome.
Please fence your trail to make it safe for our fur babies. So that no one has to go through the same pain I have to go through 😢

Fantastic place for walking dogs! It's a pity not everyone picks up their business though. Still, great views and amenities. The addition of new paved trails and the upkeep has really paid off, this really is an amazing place.

This place is basically an off-leash dog parks so be prepared to see a lot of canine critters (some of them can be too friendly). The trail is surrounded by a couple of ponds and is very close to the Red Deer river. We saw a few people canoeing in the ponds and quite a few pups were enjoying a dip in the water.
No beavers, moose or other wildlife was seen (probably because of the noise from dogs and people). There are skunks here however, so one ought to be cautious about that specially with their pets chasing them.
There are quite a few benches and outhouse-type washrooms, so it can be a nice place for a picnic.
JAWS — Google review
Just driving my RC truck from my wheelchair, love this place, oh apparently you can also walk your dog around and they looks to have fun
Peter Nissen — Google review
I love this off-leash dog park. If you enjoy strolling along the river at 6am, it is safe, beautiful and you’ll most likely get lucky and see some sort of wildlife. From beavers to osprey to foxes and moose! But make sure your puppy’s well behaved or keep them on a leash!
If you prefer the busy times, there’s lots of people down there on sunny days. Picnic benches and washrooms and all. And of course, lots of other doggy friends for your little one.
I love this dog park because you can almost feel like you’ve left town and found a little oasis away from the busy city streets.
Hope you enjoy!
We were here on December 1st for the Victorian Christmas it was fantastic I highly recommend it. The house is big and beautiful it was very well decorated for Christmas. I first learned about the Victorian Christmas supper,10 years ago and have always wanted to try the Victorian Christmas supper. The 5 courses were all really good the beef pie crust was fantastic. I made the champagne jellies for our Christmas and my partner figured out how to make the napkin Christmas trees and set our Christmas table exactly the way they set the table, it was fun to bring a little bit of Victorian Christmas to Christmas 2023. They only do the supper one or two nights in December. And a slightly different menu every year. It is definitely something that we would do again. We stopped in for tea for two a couple of years ago and it was a perfect lunch it's a quiet place in a beautiful location definitely a hidden gem of Red deer.

Delightful building! The staff were open to my using the staff/ additional spaces where couches were present to feed my newborn and do bathroom needs for our little family as we're trying to do EC.
Only downside is that it seemed like the staff did not have an understanding of what celiac meant in the catering of the food for our event - despite our party having given them a month's notice on the dietary needs. To err on the side of asking specific questions about my needs rather than guessing is good - - - but I definitely felt a lack of confidence in that they were not prepared beforehand even simply as a business that caters lunches.

My mom and I had such an incredible experience at the Cronquist Tea House. It was my mom's very first high tea and our server was phenomenal and added to our experience. The food was delicious and pretty. My only feedback would be that if there was a way for the tea to be hotter, that would make it perfect.

The atmosphere is very much like a period drama. Relaxing instrumental music plays in the background, the decorations are very old-fashioned, tea is served in teapots with teacups, and the food is so yummy! The Hungarian mushroom soup is definitely a favourite, and I recommend Wallah's Masala Chai tea.
The waitstaff are very helpful, sweet, and accommodating. A very nice place.

Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance, only to receive a call a few days before canceling due to a private event. No accommodations, no offer to schedule a new date or even a free cup of tea. Not overly incentivized to rebook when there is no guarantee they'll honor the reservation...Very disappointing.
Canyon Ski Resort, located on the Red Deer River banks in Alberta, is a noteworthy ski destination spread across 80 acres with 23 named slopes. Despite its location in the flat prairies, it is Alberta's largest "non-mountain" ski resort. The resort efficiently moves people through and offers a pleasurable ride down the slopes. However, some visitors have noted that while going down there are no views of the canyon but just trees cut through.
Robyn and the team at Canyon Ski Resort were more than accommodating to our wedding that we had on July 3rd. Not only was her team incredibly professional, they were able to work alongside us to make sure the day went by perfect, even with the ever changing COVID restrictions. The food was incredible (Would highly recommend the Swine and Dine option) the staff and bartenders were friendly, and the venue was kept in amazing order for all our needs.
Could not be happier with our venue choice and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a "mountain style getaway" for their wedding!

Coming from BC I had to check out Red Deer's ski resort. Unfortunately I came during the off season, but I was surprised by the amount of vertical available. Definitely can compete with Vancouver's local resorts such as Seymour and Grouse. Set on the hillside, overlooking the Red Deer River. Equipped with lights for night skiing, as well as snow making equipment .

The ride is fun and they seem to move people through efficiently. Going down I expected more of a canyon view but it's basically just cut through the trees. The trip back up is slow, quiet and quite relaxing. I'd give it 5 stars but the price is pretty high for what you get. They should offer additional rides for a discount after you've purchased one.

My husband and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Canyon, and the incredible experience they provided for our wedding. From our first meeting, we were floored by the professionalism of the staff, and their willingness to go above and beyond to help our vision come to life. Despite the fact that it was not yet wedding season when we first toured the venue, they were able to paint a beautiful picture of what our day would be like. They provided us with countless options and ideas, and we were confident in our booking.
Leading up to our wedding, the staff of Canyon were only ever an email away when we had questions or needed to clarify anything. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional, and truly seemed to care about us and our day.
Our wedding itself was perfect, and we are so grateful. We weren’t able to get access to our venue the day before, as another wedding was happening. This made me anxious, to be honest, but I had nothing to worry about. Everything was immaculate when we walked in, and our vendors had no problem coordinating with Canyon to ensure everything was done. Both the ceremony space and reception area were set up beautifully, exactly as we had discussed. The staff were wonderful, especially the fun bartenders who entertained our guests all night! The food was incredible - our guests couldn’t say enough good things.
If you don’t have a venue booked yet, go check Canyon out! I guarantee, you will not be disappointed.

It’s amazing how well maintained this ski resort is!! It’s being through years or decades but still serving customers from all areas!! Our first time visit to here!! Check in process is quick and the sign is very well layout!! You can easily find locker, rental, washroom etc.. the area is not big. The have several lift, different level of ski path, have a magic carpet for beginners. We so enjoy our time there and would plan to come back again soon!!

This is so much fuuuun 😭🫶🏻 we’ll definitely be back for some more because for adults who enjoy fast rides, this feels insufficient. Although, this is really a ride that suits the kids. Love the experience tho, especially coming from Calgary, it’s not too long of a drive. Also, don’t forget to purchase your video or photos available at the kiosk after the ride. It’s good to keep those memories 🤗

My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams at Canyon Ski Resort. The day was incredible and went off without a hitch. The staff were attentive and approachable, and the food was EXCELLENT (the BEST mashed potatoes I have ever had). The venue was beautiful and rustic. It was beyond anything I had envisioned. Having a summer wedding, we loved having our guests outside during cocktail hour as they enjoyed the wrap around wooden deck. Robyn and Aaron made the planning process easy. They were responsive, flexible, and always professional. They stepped out of their way to accommodate any and all requests to make it the best day for us. My husband and I had the unforgettable day of our lives, and we got so many positive compliments from our guests. Some even said it was the most memorable wedding they'd ever attended. From the bottom of our hearts thank you!!

Positives; Red Deer is very fortunate to have this nice little ski hill so close by (20 minutes). Extensive snowmaking efforts and grooming mitigate the low natural snowfall, with the odd powder day still happening through the season. Adding new runs, bigger terrain parks, competition mogul fields, and other features have dramatically improved the overall layout over the last seven years as well.
Negatives: Lodge and cafeteria is still old school, lift lines can be long on holidays, main chair lift is a triple that runs pretty slow.
Overall, if you accept the limitations and view it as a very good non-mountain hill, you will appreciate it more. Note, I've been skiing there since 1970 as well as all of our nearby mountains. Picture from Dec 9, 2023.

Great local ski hill 10 minutes away from home! It's never going to be like the mountain resort but it is amazing to have it available near city for the price they charge. Great for kids to learn and adults to practice! Office stuff are super helpful over email and happy to help! New card system makes it so simple to load up the lift tickets and just go to the lift straight from the car! I'm happy it's available in our area!

Tried out the canyon coaster today. Make sure if you buy tickets online you get your wrist band from the ticket booth before you go towards the coaster which is an eight minute walk down the path from the parking lot. It’s a little pricey at 25 dollars per ride. Lucky we were given two free rides per person which was nice of the staff. The staff were really nice and welcoming. The ride itself was really fun and you control how fast you go which was sweet. The seat is a little hard on the back. Would recommend to try this for some high speeds down the canyon.
Cash Casino Red Deer offers an expensive experience for those who enjoy playing slot machines. The food provided is tasty and the service is top-notch, with accommodating security staff at the bag check station. While not being a big gambler, patrons can enjoy complimentary soda and coffee as a bonus. Most of the employees are friendly and non-judgmental towards appearances. It's important to gamble responsibly, knowing one's limit and staying within it.

A real expensive time if you play slots and food was delicious and service was excellent and the security staff was very accommodating at the bag check in station. I'm not much of a gambler but the complimentary pop and coffee were a bonus and the staff for the most part were nice and not judgemental about my appearance. I would never spend everything I had on gambling but many people do ....know your limit .stay within it! Drink responsibly and don't drink and drive. Many people are addicted to gambling and lose everything in the blink of an eye and then they become desperate and eventually become lost souls . Please gamble responsibly and just know that there isn't always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow just a greedy little imp who talks with an Irish accent and talks in riddles lol.

Our steaks were barely cooked to rare, even though I ordered medium and she'd ordered well done. Not sure what was happening on this particular evening, but even a second trip to the grill didn't seem to do it. The vegetables and potatoes with gravy were quite good 👍, but the portions could be bigger. The staff was friendly, but seemed a bit over worked. I won't rush back anytime soon.

Amazing Norwegian house/museum. A grass roof too, with goats running around on it today. So much colorful history. One old travel trunk upstairs was of special interest... it has travelled to so many places in the world, been on many continents, over many oceans including the Mediterranean and Red Sea.... and it started in Norway and many owners later has 'landed' in Red Deer! If only a trunk could talk 🤔

The ladies down there are awesome , very knowledgeable and friendly
Attended a Rebels hockey game at Peavey Mart Centrium and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. The temperature was comfortable, not as chilly as the ice just eight rows ahead. The drink kiosk staff were efficient and friendly, while the live band during intermissions provided a refreshing change from the usual 90's playlist common at other events. However, one significant drawback was the narrow spacing between seat rows which forced taller individuals to squeeze in uncomfortably or encroach on their neighbor's space.
Attended the Canadian Finals Rodeo here last week, in the Pavillion. Was treated well and helped to my seat. Big place, had amazing seats, marked clearly. Plenty of drink and food vendors, security was readily available if needed. Masks were worn when people were mobile but taken off after being seated as immunization records were checked at the door.

I also shouldn’t have to take up usage of the handicap stall from someone who is handicapped to change my kids diaper.
Put some in the men and womens washroom…this shouldn’t be new, it’s 2022.
Fix this and I’ll flip my review to a positive one.

Took in a Rebels hockey game. The atmosphere was great! Warm enough that we didn't feel as cold as the ice only 8 rows in front of us. Drink kiosk staff were quick on their feet and super friendly. I really liked that there was a live band between periods instead of the booth just playing the same over done 90's songs yet again that you hear at so many events. Only complaint, which is pretty important actually, the seat rows are too close together. My tall husband had to scrunch up and turn his legs my way to fit properly without intruding into the space meant for the person beside him. The stadium may have been able to squeeze in an extra row of seats, but it cost them the satisfaction of patrons.

We had my daughter's grad here.
It was a little bit big. Hard to see the graduates. It was nice that they were on the screen though.

Great event on Saturday night. Bryan and the Boys rocked it for close to 2 1/2 hours.

Since the Centrum is smaller than the big cities, you get a great view no matter where you sit.

My wife and I recently took in a Rebels game as a date night. Very straightforward. Found a great parking spot, got some snacks, seats were comfortable. We had a wonderful time.

Love the view at the Rebels game from section F, row 3, seat 8.

We always enjoy going to the Centrum, especially for Red Deer Rebels hockey games. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and fun. A wonderful place where, every time we go, we run into someone we know!

This is the only venue we currently have in Red Deer to host large events. It has several buildings / rooms to choose from depending on the size of the event.
Host everything from hockey games, live music concerts, Pow Wows, Monster Trucks, petting zoos, the fair (Westerner Days), job fairs, craft shows etc.
Tickets for most events here seem to be astronomically priced compared to larger cities but I guess that's the price we pay. Drinks and food are also outrageously priced.
Seems to be consistently mismanaged financially and has switched hands a couple times recently.
Recently ungone a few renovations / expansions to offer more seating on one end as well as changed some interior signage.
Fully accessible for deliveries, catering etc.
Ample parking which is now included in the price of each ticket sold.
Also the home of The Red Deer Rebels.
The visit to St. Mary's Catholic Church on February 7th was for the baptism of a grandchild, with only immediate family members and godparents allowed due to Covid restrictions. The church followed strict Covid practices, ensuring that the premises were cleaned before entry after a mass. The father of the church even arranged a wheelchair for an elderly member, who would have otherwise been seated on her walker and pushed around.
The place is magnificent. I love the classic architecture❤️

Our visit to St.Mary's church on Feb 7 was for the baptism of my grandson. With Covid she was only allowed 10 people so only immediate family and Godparents. Very strict with Covid practices and the church that just had mass was cleaned before we entered. Father was very kind even getting a wheelchair for mom as I was going to just sit her on her walker and push it.Covid is tough but grateful for their Covid guideline. Thank you St.Mary's

Had the pleasure of photographing their parish members several years ago and took this photo for the cover of the book. The congregation was welcoming and kind - and the building is beautiful, just had to share this photo I came across from my collection.

I love the atmosphere! I don't like how as soon as the last song starts people mingle and chat it up. The people who like to stay til the Mass is over over like me find the atmosphere is wrecked. The prayerful atmosphere is lost. Respect the musicians who put their heart and soul into the music.

The lead signer of the 7PM Sunday mass needs to be told to step down.. let another member be the lead. I'm sorry but her singing is nasaly and pitchy. It's distracting.. I'm sure she's a nice person, but lead singer is not for her.

Beautiful Douglas Cardinal architecture. Great turkey supper. Very welcoming - even for a poor, unbeknighted Protestant like me!
The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery is a contemporary facility showcasing local history and artwork exhibitions in addition to hosting several ongoing events. It offers visitors an extensive understanding of the initial settlement of people in the area through its exhibits. The art pieces on display are creative and well worth viewing. There is no entry fee, although donations are welcome, and free parking is available at the location which is beautifully situated. The museum also conducts activities for young people making it a great place to bring kids.
Good place to know about Red Deer History.. Maintained so well. There is no entry fee as well.

Red Deer Museum has such an interesting history that covers the first settlers, the Bore War, WWI, WWII, immigration, and right up to the present. The museum is a very cool place to visit. All elementary and high school students should experience this gem. A great way to learn about respecting your past and how we got where we are today.

The MAG has so many great aspects; staff, exhibits, classes, movies, rotation of displays, and the free ample parking just to name a few. We enjoyed the events during Family day 2024. They also have kids camps for the days schools are closed from 9-4 at a very reasonable price. Also every Saturday there are kids activities too. When I was in college I loved coming here listening to guest lectures on a variety of topics. The welcoming koi pond when you enter is very tranquil. Enjoy your visit!

The exhibits were great and very informative. I had my teenage son with me and even he had a good time seeing everything that was on display. The Anne Frank exhibit was especially good. The Powwow clothing is so beautiful. We also enjoyed the Koi fish in the entrance. Admission is by donation, give what you can if you can. All in all a great experience for a chilly weekend.

The best place to learn about the area's history, and we also go to Mini MAG for kid's crafts. Providing a great experience for citizens without being concerned with profit ensures a great time.

I was a very nice stop in Red Deer if you are passing by stop at the gallery.
The Oxbows Off Leash Dog Park, situated on a 16-hectare parcel of land at the intersection of 40 Avenue and 19 Street, is exclusively designated for dogs and their owners. The park's trails, diverse terrain, open training areas, amphitheater and agility park are all designed to complement the wandering nature surrounding Piper Creek.
Awesome off-leash dog park, outer lap is over the hill and allows for less distractions, inner lap is up the hill and has amazing view 360 degrees. Fenced good size area inside the park if your dog needs a bit more private space. Lots of poop bags if you forgot yours.

Great dog park! It is nice that there are water dishes out for dogs on hot days but this is an easy way for dogs to pass diseases around, my adult dog picked up a virus likely from here, so now we struggle to leash him before we get near the gates so he won't drink from these bowls.

Better than no Dog Park.
The Good:
Highlights here are an enclosed area quite suitable for socialing young Dogs and/or aging Frisbee or Ball. Another non fenced area offers several different working Dog training pieces of equipment which come in handy for those who are interested in teaching their Dogs specific tasks.
The not so Good:
Area was a Garbage Dump that has been resurfaced and conditioned to be a public park. This is why there appears to be a big hump of a surface that is subjected to strong and chilling winds quite frequently as there is a lack of mature Trees. It seems like nobody really cares about this place which becomes apparent when there are Dog Turts everywhere despite easy access to Doggy Bags and Waste Receptacles.
Even with the higher Fuel Price I much prefer to go to 3 mile Bend for my Dogs social life.

So pretty, and well maintained off leash park!
Nice to walk or play with your fur friends! Best for all of us.

A sign explained this dog park is built on a reclaimed landfill. They have made really good use of the space available! Lots of paths to follow. There are picnic tables, and benches scattered throughout the park. There are areas for dogs to dig, a well curated agility park, and a small enclosed area dog for training. As an added surprise, there are beautiful painted rocks throughout the park to find and enjoy.

Great park. It is fenced and quite large. It had lots of trail options on how to go through the park: large gravel paths to narrow dirt paths. It is nice and rolling with tall grass off the paths so the dogs can chase each other with glee. The agility course is very nice. Highly recommend.

Also very clean and well maintained. Washrooms as well.

We stopped here on our way back from adopting our new family member. We’re not from the area so we found it through Google “dog parks near gasoline alley”. It was the perfect spot for the two siblings to connect ❤️. I think the closed off “training” section is a brilliant add-on. Reading about it more now, I love the park’s concept. I wonder if there’s a place like this in calgary!

By far the nicest dog park that I've visited. Nice job Red Deer!
What makes this a great place to take the pups?
-It's completely fenced in.
-its large, I would guess at least 50 acres but I'm no land mathematician.
-The entry is well marked.
-There is a toilet for humans.
-It's clean.
-There is a gravel pathway for humans surrounding the entire place.
-The whole place is essentially the crest of a hill so it drains very well. I visited one day after a storm and there were only 2 small puddles to speak of. (My lab found both 😅).
-There is a large segregated area in case you require that for your pup. Large enough to easily throw a chuck-it.
-There are several tables benches and naturalized features for humans and dogs.
-There's also a small dedicated agility area which is clean and well maintained.
-There are several garbage cans throughout the park, which are actually emptied ,clearly the maintenance to this area is being done diligently which is very nice to see!
Whoever is responsible for creating and maintaining this place should definitely be proud, highly recommend.

The park itself is great. Fully fenced in and large enough both you and your dog to get a good walk in. The only down side that people don't seem to clean up their dogs poop. What heck people of Red Deer? The city even provides bags!! I better never hear someone from Red Deer ever complain about taxes.

A great off leash dog park! Lots of space for dogs to play, explore, and make new friends.

Great fenced in area with lots of room for dogs to stretch their legs off leash and join in with a pack or two for a little while. Only issue is area is lacking any sort of bathroom facilities for humans.
Fort Normandeau is a historic site where Indigenous peoples, English and French traders came together for commerce. The museum provides an insightful experience with interactive exhibits and well-informed staff. It is especially suitable for elementary school-aged children but adults can also learn new information. Additionally, the location serves as a launching point for kayaking on the Red Deer River. If you haven't visited Fort Normandeau yet, it's definitely worth your time to check out this heritage museum.
Such a beautiful place! But be careful... We took a dip in the river and had some baby leeches cling on for a ride out!😳

Nice natural scenery and good view of the river which gets super busy with rafters / canoers on weekends. Picnic tables with typical fire pits that one can use, although most people bring their own BBQ grills.
However, there is no playground area for kids and the person giving the "interpretive" tour is a millenial SJW who provides biased "historical" information influenced by far left ideology

A quick but informative little place. Can be interactive and the staff was a tad serious but totally awesome and knowledgeable. Better for elementary school age, but I learned new things too.

It was a good experience to visit a historic site and remember what I learnt in Social studies. Its located about 10 to 15 minutes from the Red Deer Sports Museum. It's a very huge place with a beautiful river view ,natural scenic beauty. The staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful. I visited this weekend and there were many activities. One was an enactment with cannon and there were many other interesting things to do as a family, especially for kids. At main reception you can get snacks, drinks, icecream etc. The exhibits are really worth seeing. Our Province has so many beautiful and historical places to visit.

I have lived in Red Deer for 20 years and never really taken the time to go out there and do the interpretive center and stuff. Its so interesting, its like the social equivalent to Kerrywood Nature Centre, which is all about the natural history of the region. Very informative, with a nice layout and good displays.
