The Avon Theatre, a well-established performing arts venue within the Stratford Festival, boasts a traditional proscenium stage that hosts various plays, musicals and concerts. Visitors have the opportunity to take a backstage tour and browse through the connected gift shop. Although private boxes are available for those seeking privacy during shows, some views may be obstructed. The theatre showcases exceptional actors and elaborate sets to enhance audience experience, with productions such as An Ideal Husband receiving high praise from patrons.
An excellent theatre with outstanding actors and marvelous sets. The seating is good and you will certainly enjoy your time here. I saw An Ideal Husband, which I would also give a 5/5.

Went to see Chicago with a bunch of community members of the retirement home I work for. Amazing performance! The most entertaining and talented singers and dancers, and incredible staff! Even though we showed up a bit off schedule, the staff—especially the manager—just immediately helped us and got us into our seats in time for the show. So helpful, and had an amazing experience all around. Definitely recommend for anybody and everybody!!

This is a good theatre to catch a play. The seats are quite comfortable and the acoustics are great. The staff are friendly and quite helpful.
We saw Monty Python's Spamalot here and it was a laugh riot!!

Nice theatre with good seats and a good angle so people could see. I did not see any terrible seats. It lets there be a closer experience than one of the big theatres. Just appreciate and enjoy the Stratford shows for what they are.

Beautiful venue! Staff were kind, and everything was very clean. Be sure to check out the gift shop after your show, lots of goodies at reasonable prices to support the Stratford Festival.

The Avon Theatre is right in the heart of downtown Stratford, which makes it so easy to visit! It's a beautiful theatre, renovated most recently in the 1990s, but in the traditional theatre style of old. I was there quite a bit this past year because it's where the Rocky Horror Show was playing through the Stratford Festival. IT WAS AWESOME!!

We were very happy with how we were treated. We booked balcony seats and my mom has a walker. There are quite a few steps to get to the balcony and one of the workers stopped us right away and said she would find us seats in the special access area. They did and my mom didn’t have to do any stairs! Everyone there treated my mom like a VIP. We were so impressed! Thank you to everyone who helped!! We had a wonderful time!! We highly recommend the Avon theater to watch a show!!

It's such a great venue for live performances! Saw Spamalot, and our balcony seats afforded a great view of the production. The action was all over the stage, so our unobstructed overview was amazing. Excellent helpful staff and volunteers at the venue.
Thank you!

Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. We had a fantastic night. Spamalot is one of the best shows I've ever seen. I can't wait to go back.

I love the Stratford Festival so much. The Avon is a great theatre. They offer a behind the scenes tour, which I strongly recommend. The gift shop is also connected to the theatre which is a nice way to spend some time before the show starts. I don't recommend sitting in the private boxes. While nice and private you do miss part of the show for things that happen near stage left or right depending on which side of the theatre your box is on.

My first time attending an event here - Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis. Fantastic show. Great seat. Colin Mochrie, improvisor extraordinaire, and Asad Mecci, amazing hypnotist gave the audience an unbelievable, mind-blowing, "hotter than a pizza pocket", hilarious show.
Will be back for "Spamalot" in April.
Tim Gallant — Google review
Nice theatre overall, very friendly staff! The seating is very cozy, as in knees against the back of seats if you're tall or a larger person. The ambience is beautiful and you can see the entire stage without obstruction due to how the seats are positioned. The gift shop had some great finds as well.
Christina Pigeau — Google review
The theater is beautiful and staff are very friendly and helpful. But oh my God those seats we had were miserable! I'm 6ft tall and my knees were pulling up to my chest. I was so sore when the play was done. I know there are probably roomier seats but I'm sure that comes with a price. Gotta make ALL the seats comfortable gang.

Great way to spend an afternoon at the Avon Theatre in Stratford. Spamalot was a great production with humor, skilled dancing, and stunning vocals. Beautiful theatre - and as they recommend a wee sweater is in order. A bit cool in the theatre. Paid parking on the street ($1.50 an hour); free parking at the Cooper's Lot just 2 blocks away from the Theatre

Orchestra Row f is squishy. Surprisingly checked out the back row when we were leaving and there was a bit more space. Theatre is lovely, but some seats are cramped.

Spamalot was crazy good. The actors hit every line. Did not expect to laugh that hard since I've seen the Holy Grail countless times. The dancing was incredible. The singing was on another level. Loved every second of it. Oh and the women... All of them absolutely gorgeous 😍

Beautiful theatre. I’m a tall guy, so the balcony seats are too tight for me, but the orchestra seats are comfortable and provide plenty of leg room.
Michael Schroeder — Google review
Incredible theater. Very helpful staff made finding seats extra easy, and good flow for quick exiting after the show. Sound system was good, but occasionally the music overpowered the singers voices. Nice location with plenty of interesting businesses around to visit after the show. But parking can be challenging to find. Did not get anything from the refreshments or visit the amenities.
The Shakespearean Gardens in Stratford, Ontario is a charming and picturesque spot that offers a delightful stroll through its lush greenery. Originally featuring only plants mentioned in Shakespeare's plays, the garden now includes both Shakespearean and non-Shakespearean flora. Visitors can admire the 65-foot chimney, remnants of a woolen mill, a lovely gazebo, and a bust of William Shakespeare within the garden.
I have no reason to give less than 5 stars. This garden has all 175 flowers mentioned by Shakespeare. Beautifull place.

As London residents, we can visit stradford just in less than an hour. It is Small but really beautiful and has kind people and many recreation Places. Yesterday we visited shakspearean gardens. It was so well organized and beautiful. On the other side of dam, you can have boat riding on Avon River. Such an amazing time. It was really a good day. We ate brunch at bluebird restaurant near the garden and did some shopping from some handcrafts store there.
The whole collection was awesome and made our day.

We enjoyed a wonderful walk and exploration with our family here. The gardens are extremely well maintained and beautiful, reminiscent of some of the best European gardens I have visited. There will be some accessibility issues due to stairs, but we observed wheel-chair friendly picnic tables which can be reached from some directions. We found people in this park very friendly.

Cute little garden to walk around. Has a lovely rose garden and other flowers and plants. Nice layout, easy flat walking paths, beside the Avon River to one side and the Stratford Jail on the other side.
Metered parking is located on the nearby street or there is a municipal parking lot available as well. Parking costs are very reasonable. It’s approximately $1/hour.
Would recommend it for a nice stroll if you’re in Stratford.

A beautiful park nestled in the quiet city area. While the water looked really dirty, it didn't get in the way of enjoying the park. Another area of note is to walk all the way down, past the gazebo, and then into an open field with a bunch of logs arranged in a circle. Kids who love running around will love this area.

Nice atmosphere, garden areas with pretty flowers, river, and statues. It was a bit hard to find a public bathroom, but there ended up being one close to the shore. Nice place to take a walk with family and lots of small shops to eat, get some ice cream, shop, etc.

Wandered through on a gorgeous late afternoon after seeing King Lear. We were here a year ago for the opening of Hamlet in the evening and there was so much going on, we hadn't really gotten to spend time. This time, we really enjoyed exploring the reading about the different areas and flowers/plants.

Junction 56 Distillery is a hidden gem in Stratford, Ontario, known for its exceptional spirits made from locally sourced grains. Visitors can enjoy guided tours and tastings on Saturdays, where they can sample a variety of moonshine, vodka, gin, and whiskey. The distillery's products are praised for their smoothness and incredible flavors, making it a must-visit destination for spirit enthusiasts. Additionally, the customer service at Junction 56 Distillery is highly regarded by patrons.
Friendly gentleman provided info on the products and its transitions through the pandemic. Variety of products to choose from. Great experience.

This landlord has no respect for the neighbourhood - after being brought to their attention the patrons of Jobsite continue to jump the curb on West Gore to exit/enter the parking lot. Given there is a school within eyesight distance and presumably the patrons have been drinking, it's extremely dangerous to pedestrians, cyclists and even other motorists - I've been cut off by a vehicle exiting the lot just a couple of weeks ago. I have called the police when I am able to get the license plate and description but at this point it negligent to not address the issue.

For $10 you can sample most of junction 56’ catalog of spirits. Steve, our tasting guide did a great job of describing the inception of the brand and their distilling process.
Favourites are: lemon gin, mint smoothie vodka, elderflower gin, sex and gold vodka. Also their plain vodka goes down really smooth!

We popped in here to ask for directions, it was closing time but they offered us a sample to warm us up. We were shown through their supply and I was pleasantly surprised that they make my favourite chocolate vodka. We plan to return when we have more time to receive more of their excellent customer service and to purchase more of their products.

We did a tour and tasting which was beyond anything I could have imagined! I expected a couple samples, and the alcohol to be typical of craft distilleries, this was not that at all!
We tried at least a dozen different samples. The flavour on each is absolutely incredible!
The vodkas and gins are smooth, no terrible after kick. The flavour options are amazing.
Definitely a hidden gem in Stratford!

The Stratford Perth Museum is a treasure trove of over 20,000 artifacts that narrate the rich history of Stratford and Perth County from the early 1800s to the present day. Housed in various buildings before finding its current location in 2008, which includes a Victorian home, woodlots, and trails. The museum features diverse exhibits showcasing the area's history and culture, including an extended exhibition on Justin Bieber: Steps to Stardom.
We went here last night to see a show in behind the building. The Almost Hip (Tragically Hip tribute band) were playing. Fantastic night!
Such beautiful landscaping! Everything about our visit was AWESOME! The staff were great, lots of parking, and the show went off without a hitch. The band was absolutely spot on. Totally worth the drive!!
Spectacular job everyone!

Beautiful historic building! Interesting train history display and the Anne Frank exhibit was very informative. Lots of great displays and local info.

I went to see the Ann Frank exhibit and found it very informative and thought provoking. The exhibit took about 1.5 hours but I read all of the notes and listened to the audio. There were conducted tours but none were available on the day I went. I am glad that I saw the exhibit. The museum itself is very small and on the day I was there was able to see the rest of it in half an hour. I think the conducted tours might make it more interesting but the exhibit itself is very graphic and informative.

It was a very pleasant experience for our first visit. My girlfriend wanted to visit the Beiber exhibit and that was why we visited. But I was also pleasantly surprised by their other exhibits. While I enjoyed the Beiber exhibit I also had a lot of fun looking through their printing press and firefighters exhibit, and I had lots of fun checking out their war and train exhibits!! The attendant at the time was very pleasant and informative.

This museum was such a great experience. I mostly went because of the Justin Bieber exhibit as I have been a fan of his for many years, but haven’t quite made the trip to Stratford from Brampton. Upon entering, the lady who greeted us was so kind and explained each exhibit to us, as well as giving us some recommendations on restaurants to visit in Stratford. We then went to the Justin Bieber exhibit which was amazing. It had so many of his awards and personal belongings. It was very cool. The rest of the museum was also very cool I love seeing the old fire trucks, typewriters, the old steamer, and everything else that had to do with the history of Stratford. We met John, the manager of the museum, and he was so friendly and kind enough to have a conversation with us about his time setting up the Justin Bieber exhibit. He gave us some complementary books and showed us a few photos of him and Justin, and process behind setting everything up. 10/10 would recommend!

Definitely not the biggest museum I've been to, but it's a decent price for entry (with a discount for students) and there's a good amount of things to see. I was interested to see that there's actually an electric car charging station out front. The main attraction when I was there was their Justin Bieber exhibit (he's from Stratford). Not huge JB fans, but we went to see it since we were in the area anyway.

Upper Queen's Park in Stratford is an urban green space that contains several historic monuments and Ontario's parliament building. The park is a picturesque location located across from the Theater, featuring lovely bridges, paddle boats, paved trails, ample parking, and shade. The park is home to a flock of swans amidst wildfowl of geese and ducks. Visitors can enjoy walking the park, chatting at picnic tables or renting paddle boats to explore the Avon River.
I feel like Upper Queen’s Park is to Stratford what Central Park is to New York City! A little touch of paradise in an otherwise busy area. Beautiful art work, lovey picnic areas. Upper Queens Park, on the banks of Avon river in the alluring Stratford city, provides spectacular views of the river, trees; hundreds of electrified people walking along the river, boating, or picnicking in the park; children playing in the playground, and swans and ducks swimming.
Near the city's parking lot which is free of charge on weekends and holidays, there is a riverside patio where tourists can hire boats of their choice (paddle or rowing boats, canoes, or kayaks) and avail themselves of restaurant services.
Our friend from Waterloo, my wife, and I had very pleasing experiences, sweet memories to cherish, and we were deeply satisfied with our visit to the park that is about 60 and 135 minutes from Waterloo and Toronto, respectively.

Black Swan Brewing Co. was founded by school teachers Bruce and Ryan, who were passionate home brewers before opening their brewery in Stratford. The brewery is highly respected by locals and is often recommended as a must-visit spot in the area. Along with two other craft breweries, Black Swan offers a wide range of beers, including India Pale Ale, English Pale Ale, and Porter - which are crowd favorites. A great spot. We spent 2 hours and found lots of treasures. Just before I handed my card over, however, I had some worry that I was overspending and thought maybe I should put back a couple of items. When I asked for a the items to be removed from my total, I saw the true colours of the staff. It was right at closing time and I was obviously aware of the inconvenience I was causing but the older lady with the grey hair proceeded to scold me, loudly, on how she was now "going to have to spend 30 mins retagging all the items" and I "should have said something earlier" and here she is in when she's sick and I have to "pull something like this". This is the only reason I am giving such a poor review. Customer service at this antique mall is atrocious. We left without purchasing any single thing because of her unprofessional and rude behavior. Avoid.

I have no further business in, or loyalty to this town I spent three decades in- and so I can be honest about it: it is toxic.
It's a prison. The other inmates are all out to get you at all times, and the ones who are not, are part of various sick fraternities which designed the systems which milk you for resources and render you homeless.
It has no redeeming qualities. This building should be looked on as a symbol of hopeless servitude, bribery, and hate.

A stunning building in a great location that could hardly be missed. It was surrounded by beautiful streets with stylish houses. I like the fact the behind it was a public area with seating and even a water splash!

A beautiful building but with the amount of taxes and lack of any real public services I was expecting it to be more of a pyramid shape with city council sacrificing the homeless at the top to the theater gods. Quite underwhelming experience 3/10

Visit leisurely with a coffee or ice cream, surrounding by hundred-year-old houses. It’s convenient to find a parking lot and restaurant, and the people are friendly.

A beautiful building in a beautiful small town in all seasons. It's specially so nice with snow during winter.

Stratford City Hall is such a beautiful architectural building. I especially like the fact that it's situated at an intersection where all vehicles from any angle could view this historical property. In my opinion, this is a landmark of Stratford, Ontario.

Remember the old saying "You can't fight City Hall". Well in the case of Stratford City Hall, that appears to be the case. I arrived in town from Toronto to spend the weekend. I was running a little late for my 2pm performance when I parked a block away. I went in to get a slice of pizza and realized after spending about 15 minutes in the pizza place I realized I had neglected to put money in the metre.
Letting my friend go off to the theatre, I circled back to feed the meter. I arrived to find a parking ticket on my windshield. RATS!. Ok ok I will pay it on line later. I pay the metre and rush to the theatre and enjoy a wonderful performance of Paradise Lost. Well later that evening as I looked at the ticket for the online address to pay I see two options, pay by mail or pay in person. I then realize that I could have run over to City Hall at intermission to pay the ticket. Now I need to find a cheque it has been about 5 years since I have written a cheque. I don't even know if I have any blank cheques. Lesson learned . Pay the metre.

As an artist, I absolutely love going to art gallery's of all sorts. This one was very beautiful, the art work was great to look at and experience.
Good snowy date idea.

There are a couple of beautiful positions over here. The entry is free but if you are generous, you can leave a donation. You can donate online too.

Out dated open at 12pm , people who go go in the morning. Not promoted enough, the art work outside needs cleaning on painted containers. Patio stones a mess, not being updated or up kept. Some art so old looks like a recycle jammed onto a stick. Should have mosquito traps in park area. I really liked some of the art inside. But, outside needs an update on the trash along the trail and behind the building. The people greeting you should be offering a tour to explain and guide you through. Educate people about the artists their work, not being done. Where are the people? Some people from out of town come in the morning because they have a long trip in afternoon.

Took my daughter to the Sunday art drop-in from 1-3 and we both had a blast. Only problem was that the lady leading the group spilled glaze on my purse and hot pink paint on my daughter's coat and boots. Other than that, the amount and quality of art was fantastic and we drove all the way from London. The people who greeted us when we came in were lovely and there just happened to be muffins, tea and juice that day. Take some cash for a donation!

We always stop by when we come to visit Stratford for the theatre. Such pride of place. Always something really interesting. We always stay longer than intended and end up meeting and chatting to interesting people and staff.

Stumbled in by accident and really enjoyed my hour there! Four lovely exhibits (especially the 2018 trashion (trash-fashion) week winning piece!), two staff who told me all about the place and also their kids arts & crafts programs. And free, which always makes galleries a more welcoming place.

Main exhibition a complete waste of space with photos of trees and a nude, bearded man in different poses. Videos in one room very uninteresting - 20 second looping reel of feet walking through fallen branches for example. Titles of each piece on one long list and nowhere near photos. Same for collages which made no sense whatsoever.
Other exhibit similarly meaningless.
When can this "contemporary" gallery become one to showcase local artists and artisans with paintings and creative pieces that the general public can relate to?
Relatively new to Stratford (2020) and so disappointed with the lack of support for artists who depict realistic images in various media - oils, watercolour, acrylic , felting, wood, pottery. This gallery doesn't hold a candle to the Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre for example.

"Stratford Art in the Park" is a charming fair in Stratford that offers a variety of unique, handmade local crafts. Visitors can find an array of items such as paintings, jewelry, pottery, wood turnings, and more. The fair features talented artists like Eden and Judy Palmer who create distinctive "robots" from old tins and David Humphrey who crafts beautiful wood bowls and boards.
Beautiful selection of artwork done in different mediums by different artists. Wonderful to take a stroll through while enjoying the park.

Awesome art work displayed here by talented and passionate artists. Got a chance to talk to few of them, they explained about their work so humbly. Thanks . Followed by a long walk along side the lake made my day.

A great place to visit on a Sunday afternoon. A great addition to the park!

My husband and I happened upon this small fair as tourists in Stratford. The crafts, more than the paintings, drew me right in, so much so that I bought three pieces. I wish I had taken a picture of all Eden and Judy Palmer's unique "robots" so I could post here. The one I "had" to buy was a bit different from all the others, which featured wonderful old tins, etc. David Humphrey's wood bowls and boards were beautifully crafted. I bought my bowl because of its shape, although I wasn't sure about the black markings. After he explained what spelt wood was, I was fine with it. We obviously had a very successful time at this small fair!

Nice spot, good vibes. I get its an Art in the Park but.. there was a ton of paintings (of a variety of styles) but really lacked art of different disciplines. My Favorite, slightly biased was the wood working and metal sculptures though. Pricey, holy, but lovely.

Love this place! I make a point of going to it every year in the summer. Beautiful and unique, handmade local stuff ranging from paintings, to jewellery, to pottery, to wood turnings.

Incredible displays set up along the river. A variety of mediums. Easy to lose an afternoon chatting with the easygoing and incredibly talented artists. Walked away with a special piece made by Dave Humphrey, a local woodworker. He was even able to tell me the specific tree from Stratford that this particular piece was sourced from. So much serenity in one place. Must visit.

A wonderful place in a fantastic setting, next to Victoria Lake in Stratford, to find and purchase beautiful one-of-a-kind artworks. Also, if you're attending the theaters there, it's conveniently located between the two largest ones.
