I am a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Gold member, and the Gaylord Palms has a lot of work to do to live up to the Marriott standard.
Recently stayed at Gaylord Palms for time away with the family. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.
We stayed for 5 nights while visiting Disney Parks. Of the 5 nights, our room was cleaned by Housekeeping once, and I had to visit the front desk TWICE to beg to have it cleaned, which eventually happened after 6pm.
The pools are advertised as open until 10pm, but the water slides, lazy river, hot tubs, and surf rider close much earlier, around 5-6pm.
I was unable to find water park hours on their app or on their website. It almost felt like false advertising, stating the pool is open until 10pm, but no mention of the earlier closing times for other parts of the water park. The hours are posted on physical signs by each water park attraction. If you plan to visit a Disney park for the day, then take the kids back to the water park after, this will not work.
There does seem to be a shuttle to the Disney Parks, but there is one per day in the morning, and departed after the parks are open, rendering them useless. Factor in time and money for an alternate way of getting to the parks, such as driving and parking.
After returning from the Disney Park one evening, we ordered Room Service for dinner for our 2 kids. After over an hour, I called down as we had not received out food. They had our order, but not the food, so I was told it was en route. The food never showed up. I had to visit the front desk to request a credit on my bill for the meals I never received. Instead, we had to take our tired and hungry kids down to one of the restaurants for dinner.
Overall, we were very unimpressed with the Gaylord Palms given the cost and reputation. Will seek other accommodations on our next trip to Disney/Orlando.
