The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a popular attraction in Monterey, California that features exhibits of different types of marine life. The aquarium is located on the water's edge and is constantly entertaining with shows and animal feedings. The aquarium also has an enormous tank that displays a variety of aquatic creatures.
I absolutely love coming here!! Buy your tickets in advance. I'm so glad we had our vaccine info on the Clear Pass because we were able to skip the long line that stretched up the sidewalk. Instead, we walked up to the separate Clear pass line, showed our pass, and then our tickets, and we were in. A mask is currently required. The cafe food is very good for a cafe. I had the butter fish that was in a burrito bowl, and it was fresh. I love how sustainable everything is packaged. We loved all of the aquarium. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

Always love this aquarium! Been going here ever since I was a kid and it always is a fun place to be. The aquarium is rescue and rehab focused and is also promoting conservation efforts for the local area (which is great!).
Even as an adult the touch pools are fun to see and learn at, as the jellies are always a joy to watch pulse around the calming waters.
If you can, I would always recommend that you try to check the aquarium out! It's also not too big, so if you only have a couple hours you could still manage to see everything quickly.

If you are going to make your way to Monterey, definitely do the Aquarium. One of the finer ones I have seen and very well managed and maintained. The displays and exhibits are well designed and the variety of aqua life is mesmerizing. Great for families and kids and something to do and learn from all the variety. A few options touch pool like experiences. It is located on the historic Cannery Row area so lots to do around there as well. Definite place to visit and take in.

It was an amazing experience. Beautiful aquariums throughout. The sea otters, penguins, puffers, and seaweed/kelp displays are really interesting to watch. There is so much to see and do. The wildlife is well taken care of. There is a beautiful view of the ocean as well.

So glad to have made the visit to Monterey Bay Aquarium. Went on a weekday and I think that was helpful in avoiding large crowds. The exhibits are wonderful and leave you in awe of this vast world under the surface we know so little about. Being right next to the bay makes the experience that much more relevant as you look out over the water.
Logistics: There is paid street parking and also paid parking lots and garages nearby. I would highly suggest buying tickets in advance if you aren’t already a member. There is a cafe and cafeteria with a nice range of food and drink options (including beer) but rather pricey. I admire their commitment to sustainability and conservation so you will find no single use plastics here. If you plan on buying souvenirs you may want to bring your own reusable bag or purchase one. Enjoy seeing the otters and all the other amazing animals during your visit!

It’s way bigger and nicer than what I had remembered 15 years ago. There are way more exhibitions and great sitting and outdoor viewing areas. Coming here with kids the very first time in 15 years and we all had a very good time.

My partner and I came here for the first time ever and for his birthday, he got a very cute birthday pin with art of an otter and it's pup. The staff are super cool, knowledgeable, and friendly, the exhibits were amazing, and of course the otters were so cute. They have 10-15min auditorium showings about different kinds of knowledge and info about our beautiful oceans and earth, we definitely recommend to just sit and relax and learn and educate oneself! We had a really great time and will definitely come again in the future!

So worth a visit, decent size place. With plenty to see. Tons for kids to look at and play with and explore. The aquarium is beautiful overlooking the water with tons of nice observation areas for you to go and watch the waves come in. There was even a touch a sting ray area. They also have a little theatre that plays small movies for you to watch that the aquarium made. There were two gift shops which seemed pretty pricey but not too bad for a tourist attraction. They also have little cafes and spots to buy drinks and snacks while you’re inside. I think the otters were my favorite fun to stay and watch for a while. The aquarium can be quite busy with kids. But was manageable on the holiday yesterday I think. The staff are also super kind and knowledgeable

If you love to learn more about ocean residents and sea life this place is a must! Lots of great exhibits, amazing live narrated films, outstanding tours. Loved penguin and sea otter exhibits. I wish there would be less people, as it was pretty crowded and it was hard to get to some of the exhibits. Still worth visiting and learning more about the ocean and its inhabitants.

We loved spending our day at this underwater adventure, we probably spent at least 3 hours exploring and learning all about everything, We felt like kids in a candy store. It wasn’t too busy, even with a few schools on field trips. Our overall experience was delightful and it would be worth going again.

The visit to the aquarium is worth it, every time you visit. This time was special as I was spending a daddy daughter day special visit on my birthday. 😊
The weekend crowd required a 15 minute wait in the queue which moved at a reasonable pace. There is a faster queue if you have the vaccine details uploaded to the Clear App.
Once inside, it's a wonderful world of marine life. The jelly fish exhibits are mesmerizing and don't forget to visit the penguins and the otters. The shows in the auditorium are short, informative and entertaining.

A fun experience for the entire family! We went on a weekday so it was really quick to get inside. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, the exhibits are beautiful to watch.
There are three floors in total, with exhibits on each floor, an auditorium, a cafe with reasonably priced food options, clean restrooms and lots of kid focused activities. You’ll need at least a couple of hours to go through all the exhibits.
I definitely recommend the aquarium as a fun family activity to do in Monterey. They’re rescue focused and big on preserving ocean life, which is just amazing!

Great place for the family. Lots of exhibits to see such as the jellyfish, sea otters, penguins, exotic fishes, crabs, small sharks, tuna, sea ray. You can sit in the auditorium and catch an educational show. They have different activities during the day. The cafe has good food. Clean bathrooms. Parking is fairly easy.

Having been a family charter member since it first opened, I’ve seen many changes over the decades. Fundamentally the same though as it’s an incredible place to come with family and friends. Price has definitely gone up, but that’s what keeps it going strong. A corner stone for the tourism industry in the area, it provides a stable economic contribution to the region.
I used to bring my young kids all the time and they loved it. I always enjoyed bringing my camera to shoot the aquatic life close up. Now, I usually just escort visitors when in town. If it’s your first time here though….. it’s definitely worth a trip!

Pricey but lots to do and see. We all enjoyed our time at the aquarium, all ages. I like how tranquil it was, the music is a great touch. Exhibits were clean and well taken care of. Could definitely spend all day there. If you have little ones, the splash zone is a great place for them.
Jamie Buck — Google review
$60 for an adult without parking (nearby costs $20-30 no matter how long you park) seems massively overpriced for what you get.
The otters as the main attraction are surprisingly small and it is hard to see anything.
All other exhibits are quite nice but not overwhelming. Compared to the LA aquarium it feels significantly smaller so it’s hard to understand why it’s almost double the price. 2-3hours should me more than enough.
For adults I would recommend the LA aquarium if you are not completely into otters.

This is my childhood and one of the places I never fail to visit whenever I go home. Each time there is a new exhibit, while staying true to the original design. The show that talks about the history of the the Monterey Bay was one of the best parts for my son When he was younger. If you aren’t from the Bay Area, a day at the Aquarium won’t just give you and education, it will give you an entertaining history lesson while surrounded by the most beautiful view in the area.

Such a wonderful experience! The deep sea exhibit and the kelp forest are must sees!!! If you have time, the penguin feeding and sea otter feeding are also really worthy to go. The schedules are all available online so definitely check it out and plan accordingly before you go. The aquarium is not large in size, but it has so many good things to explore. You can buy tickets online. Parking is a little bit hard to find near the aquarium, but there are a few public parking garages a few blocks away

Our family has been visiting this extraordinary aquarium for years, and each visit leaves us in awe of the immense dedication and passion behind this institution. While some may complain about the ticket prices, they fail to grasp the profound mission this aquarium is on—a mission to conserve the ocean and its precious inhabitants.
The stories shared within the walls of this aquatic wonderland go beyond mere entertainment; they are tales of tireless efforts to protect and preserve our oceans. This isn't just a place for attractions; it's a powerful platform conveying a crucial message to the public about the urgent need for ocean conservation.
As a family, we wholeheartedly support and appreciate the meaningful work undertaken by this aquarium. Yes, the tickets may be on the higher side, but we see it as a small contribution towards a cause we deeply care about. The experience here is not just about viewing marine life; it's about understanding the challenges our oceans face and learning how each of us can play a role in their preservation.
In a world where our oceans are under constant threat, this aquarium stands as a beacon of hope and education. We gladly embrace the opportunity to be a part of this collective effort for a healthier and more sustainable marine environment. Our visits here aren't just outings; they are a testament to our commitment to the future of our oceans.

The aquarium has lots of fun exhibits. Our favorites were the open sea exhibit, the penguins, and otters.
There are a few exhibits where you can touch and feel sea life. Our kids really enjoyed those.
There's places to buy snacks and food. We were interested in the Cafe but didn't end up going.

If you’re ever in Monterey, you’ve got to check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This place isn’t just tanks and fish; it’s like stepping into another world under the sea. From the get-go, you’re surrounded by all these amazing sea creatures, all set up in these cool displays that make you feel like you’re right there in the ocean with them.
The jellyfish exhibit is totally hypnotizing. You could spend hours just watching them float around – it’s so peaceful. And the kelp forest? It’s like looking into a hidden underwater forest, super cool to see. Oh, and you can’t miss the sea otters! They’re adorable and super playful.
What I really love about this aquarium is how they focus on teaching everyone about the ocean and why we should take care of it. They’ve got all these interactive spots and the staff really knows their stuff, which makes it fun and educational.
Even when it’s busy, the place doesn’t feel too crowded. Plus, the views of the bay from inside the aquarium are stunning – like a perfect postcard of Monterey.
All in all, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a fantastic spot. It’s fun, it’s fascinating, and it’s a great place for anyone – families, couples, solo visitors, you name it. Definitely a highlight of Monterey!

A 40 year old world class marine educational center and aquarium for the whole family, young and old to visit. Can easily spend all day here. Only can buy tickets online before visiting or in front of the building using a QR code to enter. You cannot purchase tickets in person.
The Open Sea (1.2 million gallon exhibit), The Kelp Forest, African Penguins, and Jelly Fish are must see exhibits. Definitely make the time to watch the free feeding times and live narration videos in the auditorium. Have the kids learn and touch the hands on exhibits provided by the MBA volunteers.
Great gift shops to bring back meaningful souvenirs home.
Visit during the weekdays during the school year if you want to avoid the crowds. You can easily take a break and walk outside at the back of the building to enjoy the picturesque views of the Monterey Bay.
If you are willing and able to park in Pacific Grove (past the aquarium), 10 min, flat walking path with views of the Monterey coastline, parking is free all day.
Restrooms are perfect for kids and babies (changing tables and kid-friendly height level sinks).
Can easily get your hand stamped for “in and out” access (take a break to eat outside of the aquarium or not).

A beautiful aquarium with majestic views of Monterey Bay. There are several exhibits throughout the whole area encompassing 3 floors. The Kelp forest and otters are the two main attractions. I took the time to sit in on one of the free 15 min videos presented in their auditorium.
This is a great place for little children. Many special exhibits are designed especially for kids to play with and adventure around in. Some exhibits made me wish I was a little kid because I was much too tall to fit in some of these. There are a couple of places where one is allowed to reach in to touch and feel the animals.
They have a large cafe with excellent choices for grabbing lunch at a reasonable cost. There is also a coffee bar where one can buy coffee or espresso drinks for under $5. Keep in mind parking will come at a premium with many all day spots nearby for $15.
I really enjoyed myself and glad for all they do there for the preservation of ocean life. It is a great place to build awareness of the wonders of the marine world and our need to conserve them.

This is an absolute must-do! We went on a Sunday morning and there was a long line that wrapped around the building, but we were in the aquarium within ten to fifteen minutes. The exhibits are so informational and beautiful. The staff/volunteers are SO friendly and fun to chat with! Definitely ask them about the exhibits because they have lots of information to share! We started the day off with the 11am feeding which was so fun because we got to see lots of fish right at the start. With the exhibits, you can really get up close, which is awesome! Their Into the Deep exhibit is fascinating.

this place is genuinely gorgeous. I loved all the interactive exhibits. seeing the moray eels and the octopi were definitely a highlight. I wish the adult tickets were a bit less pricey ($60) but it was worth it for the experience. we spent about 3 hours here. would definitely come back again!!

This aquarium is amazing! I went with my brother and my two kids. We arrived around 12:30pm on a Monday and there was no wait to get in. It’s very clean and the animals are well taken care of. My favorite animals to see were the otters, hammerhead sharks and the penguins. Being able to touch and interact with the bat rays was an awesome and unique experience. If you have the chance to go I definitely can’t recommend it enough! I can’t wait to go again.

We visit weekend and it is crowded! But thanks to other reviewers, we reached early and right at the opening so entry queue was not that long.
I highly recommend checking out the feeding times/shows at the aquarium. They are worth seeing!
Highly recommend for kids 😊😊 the place were full of them and it was lovely to see them enjoy!
Now price : I find the aquarium a bit pricey compared to others but still it is definitely worth visiting (May be one time for couples ☺️)
The Monterey is beautiful! You could see the beautiful ocean from the aquarium deck.
Cost approx $60/adult.
The aquarium also has a caffe and restaurant but by afternoon it is bit crowded as expected with families with young kids. We chose to eat outside !
Last but not the least a big shout out to all the volunteers and the staff working there. They were all amazing! Thank you

We like aquarium displays. Been to several around the country and this is one of the best we've seen. Lots of interactive displays, brilliant designs, handicap accessible, tours available too. Well stocked gift shop and cafe. The only complaint I'd have is parking. There is only street parking in the cannery row area - good luck with that - or nearby garage parking which is a bit steep in cost. But don't let that deter you from going. You won't be sorry.

World class aquarium and great experience! Lots of exhibits for all ages.
They have a children’s area on the second floor that has interactive activities, penguins and play structures. Good spot to start with 5 and under kids before going to the other exhibits.
Cafe offers a wide range of food options from sushi to grass ged burgers. Not cheap food but good tasting and good portions.
We used the Cannery Row parking lot and did a short walk to the aquarium. Good parking option that is easy in and out.

We drove up to Monterey for the long weekend so we could visit the aquarium. The line to enter was snaking but because we had the membership passes we bypassed most of the line and got in.
The place was packed but we were still able to see all the exhibits and interactive displays. The exhibits were very well planned and designed to engage kids but at the same time still be interesting for adults.
Our nephews loved the variety of animals - otters, rays, sharks, penguins, turtles, octopus, and so much more!
It was honestly one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever visited.

So while this was one of the best aquariums I have ever been to I am still in shock at the price of admission. I found myself paying almost $300 to admit me and my young son. I came from out of town and my wife suggested we go for his birthday. I arrived midafternoon ignorant of the astronomical cost. I had already promised him we would go so I was committed. Since I was otherwise going to spend $100 for only a few hours of experience on my son’s birthday since we arrived later in the afternoon I opted to become a member…I don’t even live here! It was more of a sunk cost fallacy since I figured I could come back and try to get my money’s worth the few days I will be here for my visit and have my wife join me. While my son had a blast, a lot of the exhibits were broken and it is chaotic with children which works for kids but would detracts if I came alone as an adult or with my wife. They could really strive to have their hypnotic and well designed jellyfish displays and sea kelp walls accessible for quiet observation with a segregated quiet zones. It would actually make a $300 annual membership worthwhile if one was able to come and read and relax in that environment akin to how many spend time at Starbucks. Alas, the aquarium is cool and well designed but like much in Monterey it is just prohibitively expensive for middle class accessibility. Minus one star for cost alone.

This place is wonderful. They treated me very well and the facilities and animals are spectacular. My favorite is the seabird exhibits. I liked the stingray tank, too. The aquarium was good with my companion's service dog, too.

This is one of the best aquariums that I have visited on the West Coast. It was huge and we ended up spending 4-5 hours here. The feeding session of Otters was the most fun. They also had newly discovered species of jellyfish in an exhibit. The Octopus at the facility had laid eggs and it was cool to see the same.

Awesome fish displays & showcases! I will say, having been to a few aquariums around the US, I don't think what this place offers justified its normal price tag. However, it is unique in its access to the sea & certain sizes of water tanks.

World class aquarium! So beautiful, well maintained, very nice layout. Went on Easter Sunday and it was not too busy! My son loved all the “fishies”. I highly recommend if you’re in the area. We were here for about an hour and half but you could really spend a whole afternoon, maybe longer, walking around and exploring everything . Such a wonderful showcase of the beauty of life in our planets oceans.

I was on a solo visit and this place was nice. It was very well-maintained but it should be for the cost of admission. At least the money is hopefully going to good causes.
All tickets are purchased online. There is no place to purchase unless you essentially have a phone. You must have tickets on your phone screen to enter.
All packages, strollers, and backpacks will be searched upon entering.
This is a nice place for children of all ages. There are interactive exhibits and many viewing areas are kid-sized.
I spent a couple of hours in the area and between the cost of the parking ($30), a sandwich & drink ($22), and admission this outing cost about $100.
You must be 70 for a senior discount and they do not appreciate military service as there is no discount for that at all.

Monterey Bay Aquarium was an absolutely amazing experience! I loved every of it. The aquarium features so many unique animals especially the sea otters! (Rosa was my favorite.) The aquarium was extremely informative and you could see the passion each of the crew and staff had for these animals and ocean conservation. I can't express how much I loved this aquarium. Not only the aquarium but the conservation work and the research the aquarium does in incredible. You can even see wild animals like otters, seals, and osprey from the balconies and binoculars. I came from Los Angeles all the way to Monterey just to go to this aquarium and was definitely worth it!

Wonderful aquarium with stuff you won't see at your average aquarium. Beautiful setting along the coast too. A must see if you are in the area. Great movies and feeding presentations. Friendly staff. Advice: Parking can fill up fast in surrounding areas, so factor in having to drive around looking for parking. There are a couple open air lots for bigger trucks.

Lone Cypress is a single, ancient cypress tree that stands majestically overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The views here are simply stunning and will leave you in awe, no matter how many times you visit. Whether you're looking to take a walk along the white-sand beaches of Carmel or explore the famous 17-mile drive , make sure to stop by Lone Cypress for some beautiful scenery.
You may recognize this tree as the world famous logo for the Pebble Beach resorts and it was been so since it’s founding in February 1919. Just like the beautiful Torrey Pine in San Diego, this tree is native to this specific area and is not found anywhere else in the world. It’s a true California Landmark and another one of our beautiful native species. The area can get quite crowded with people taking pictures but honestly it is so beautiful that is some thing you need to see at least once. Driving on the 17 mile drive you will pass it as your midway point.
It’s hard to sum up in words how beautiful this place is, it’s best to just go for yourself, be quiet, and take in all the natural beauty.

Definitely seen more “lone” cypress trees along the 17 mile drive compared to this one. Also we honestly did not find it an impressive sight. The drive is definitely impressive and worth the $10.75 but this pit stop is definitely more hype than real.

The balcony has a nice view, but it looks somewhat artificial. The main attraction is a cypress tree, which is supported by hidden cables. This combination of nature and human intervention creates an interesting scene, highlighting how we balance the natural world with our own creations to find beauty.

It was a wonderful experience to drive around and then stop at these amazing points on the drive. There is so much beauty in nature and this place is a testament to that. When you look at this tree, you can't help but admire its resilience and tenacity amidst terrifying odds. It's still standing majestically as if to say, "is that all you got?".

Beauty beauty beauty!
We reached there an hour before sunset and clouds started to cover the beautiful sunny day.
It’s a natural beauty to admire, don’t miss to go down the stairs and spend sometime downstairs. We were lucky enough to not find many others at the same time else it could have felt crowded on d deck.
Your fingers get enough work to click those beautiful views all across with your loved ones.
It’s very peaceful and loving at the same time.
I would definitely recommend to spend a good time here specially towards your end of the drive as it would be quite relaxing.
Enough parking so that should not be an issue on a normal weekend.

Iconic. Cannot be in the area and not check this Lonely Cypress out. This is the logo on all things Pebble Beach. A must see on the 17 mile drive. Stop-in, take some pics. Narrow road, limited parking, but definitely do-able. Be respectful of the area, the neighbors. The tree has been around a long time, but nature may ultimately do it in, so see it while it stands. It's a pretty point on 17 Mile Drive but not my favorite. It's popular and the Instagrammers were taking it over for their selfies when we were there. While it's a pretty point, I'm not sure why it has been singled out for special attention. I think it's because it's the Pebble Beach logo and it's a marketing plot. But go for the drive and enjoy the whole drive. This is a pretty spot along the way.

The Lone Cypress is on 17- Mile drive in Pebble Beach, California.
Let me make it very clear that you have to be there to understand and feel what this Lone Cypress looks like.
It will be an understatement to say that it is a breathtaking feeling/ view.
To me this spot is by far one of the best places in this entire 17 mile drive.
The unfortunate aspect is that 17 spots are too many points to cover in a day's time and one gets very little time to appreciate the beauty of each place in this drive.
Still I will recommend to at least provide about half an hour to this magnificent place and feel the fresh air while enjoying the lone Cypress.

I went there with Elder Romney for black of mission. We visit Vietnamese members in Monterey. He got a call from the mission president told him that he got his visa to Viet Nam. It's such a good place to visit. Super rich, small roads with many big buildings.
Carmel-by-the-Sea, a small seaside city located on the Monterey Peninsula in California, is renowned for its historical Carmel Mission museums and library, as well as its charming village-like center filled with galleries and fairytale cottages. The Scenic Bluff Path offers breathtaking views of the coastline from Carmel Beach to the bird-rich Carmel River State Beach, with a scuba diving entry point available.
Dennis the Menace Playground is a popular kids' playground in Monterey that features several activities like a maze and a rock climbing wall.
My kids, 7,5,&3, love coming to this park. It has a little bit of everything and clean restrooms!
There is a rock climbing wall, a suspension bridge , water fountain, various things to climb on, a boat/water play area for smaller kiddos, two very large play structures, a roller slide, a small hedge maze with a lookout tower, and this rotating/spinning play structure that is like a crazy and modern take on a merry-go-round. There are also a few swings.
Beyond the playground itself, there is a small pond with paddle boats for rental, picnic tables, and a small skate park.
The entire playground area is fenced with only 1 gate for entrance and exit. This definitely helps ease anxiety for those with a runner or multiple kids since it helps to keep them contained. Majority of the play area is covered with mulch with the exception being some of the areas around the actual play structures and slides. Mainly the areas where a more traumatic fall would occur, there is the rubbery, flat material.
There is a decent amount of parking but only a small bike rack. I imagine parking may be harder when there is a ball game happening at the attached ball field. However, there would most likely be plenty of street parking.

Awesome park for a wide range of ages! Lots of different climbing structures including a boat for the 1-yr old range, many slides, swings, and a rock wall! Park has plenty of picnic tables to go around. Bathrooms are clean and have a changing table. They state on signage no pesticides have been used on the park since 2001 too.
Only nuance to be aware of is the main parking lot is small so you may need to find street parking.

Great playground! Has a gate and it says it doesn't open until 10. They opened the gate around 9:15. You can tell the playground is older and still a lot of fun. It is well taken care of, there were people in there fixing things before they opened the gates.

Nice park! Been coming here since I was a kid. Fun safe place to bring the family.

We visited Monterey for the day and on the way into town my kids noticed this park from the road. I’m glad we stopped to check out this park because my kids ended up having so much fun. There was a lot for them to explore and quite a few structures for them to play on. The park was nice and well kept and everyone played nicely. We will definitely stop here again next time we’re in town.

This Park was so fun for the whole family! There's little Rock climbing walls, several play grounds, tunnels to crawl through, a suspension bridge and more! Also, it is on a pond and next door you can rent peddle boats!
Anneliese MacNish — Google review
A huge outdoor area with a large variety of unique and interesting playground equipment. There's a bouldering wall and roller slide. Almost everything is handicap and stroller accessible as well. Keep an eye on your kids as there is a lot of space here for them to roam!
Ron Clonts (Synaesthios) — Google review
A large and very fun playground with lots to do and explore. There are some unique aspects too not often seen other places: a roller slide (a little too bumpy for this grownup), a huge merry go round, a very tall slide, a suspension bridge, a rock wall, and even a train engine (though sadly you can’t play on it.
Our kids had a great time for hours over multiple visits. There’s a small pond nearby where you can rent paddle boats (some are shaped like dragons, others as ducks and swans, super fun, $25-$40/hour depending on type of water fowl). There’s also a skatepark Nextdoor, what a blast.
Steven Bacon — Google review
One of the best playgrounds we’ve been to. It’s huge and very popular with a climbing wall, bridge, and multiple play structures. It’s also located near a pond where you can rent pedal boats by the 1/2 hour. There no sand in this playground, but instead there are wood chips. Great for a wide range of ages.

My 3 girls had a blast there yesterday. I wish we had a park like that over here in the central valley. Snack bar at the entrance sells good food. It's a great park to visit if you have kids. Definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful and HUGE playground with tons to do and explore. Seriously, as an adult you'll enjoy it as well.
Wonderful time and it overlooks the ocean, park, and the pedal boats you can rent on the body of water.

This is a beautiful park. The park has many different things for the kids to play with. There were swings, slides, small maze and other jungle type gyms to run around in. The park resides next to a small lake that almost surrounds around the whole park. My 2 year old daugther loved this park and was upset when we left. This is a park perfect for all ages of kids.
Pachee Thao — Google review
Best and largest free kids playground in the area! They also have affordable fast food for sale at the park entrance.
Sarah Edminster — Google review
WOW! I think this is one of the best playgrounds ever built! This photo doesn’t even begin to capture the bridge the massive expansive play sets and roller slide! We need more places like this in our communities.
Daniel Conley — Google review
We try to take the kids here every time we are in the area, because it's not like any other park we have at home.
There's a suspension bridge that they love to run back and forth across, a rock climbing area with challenges for all different levels, side by side racing slides, and a lot of room to run and explore.
The only negative of this park is the parking. For such a large playground, there's a tiny parking lot and then street parking, but that requires crossing a busy street with kids. We've lucked out and circled the lot a few times to get a spot.
The Old Fisherman's Wharf is a popular tourist attraction in Monterey, California. It features seafood eateries, shops, and water-sports activities. The wharf has been in operation for over 100 years and was once a working sardine wharf and fish market. Today it is a thriving tourist destination with many restaurants and vendors selling arts, crafts, and souvenirs.
Nice area with beautiful spots for pictures. To the right of the pier near the bathrooms and parking lot is a boat dock where the sea lions like to congregate. Very close view while still keeping a safe distance. Short walk back to the pier with shops and food and whale watching tours. Parking is by park mobile on the app. We went in mid-October so a lot of the shops were closed up for the season early morning but some cute little candy and gift shops were open. Nicely maintained and seasonally decorated.

Old Fisherman’s wharf is a popular tourist attraction. went there on a weekday and there are few people. Before the pandemic it used to serve free clam chowder to entice customers to dine in. Nowadays there are less people and some of the big seafood restaurants are now closed. Luckily, the Old Fishermans grotto is till open where you can get the famous clam chowder.
Overall the old fisherman’s wharf is still a good place to visit.

Old Fisherman's Wharf is a nostalgic destination that holds a wealth of memories from the past. This time, I had the pleasure of visiting with my sister. The vibrant atmosphere, lively music, breathtaking ocean view, and array of restaurants all contribute to the undeniable appeal of this place. There is an abundance of activities to enjoy here.
For me, Old Fisherman's Wharf has always been synonymous with the best Clam Chowder and unforgettable sunsets. The flavors of the Clam Chowder are unparalleled, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds. Furthermore, the sight of the sun setting over the horizon adds a touch of magic to the experience. It's a place where cherished memories are made and treasured moments unfold.

We took a whale 🐋 watching tour from Fishermen's Wharf and it was great! We rode out for about 1.5 hours and finally saw a couple of whales in the distance, then rode as close as allowed and just sat and watched. Pretty soon, we started seeing more and more whales! They all stayed within sight, and we ended up with about 15 whales around us. It was amazing!! One even surfaced about 30 feet from the boat 🚢 but I wasn't ready for the photo. I got lots of photos of tails and dorsal fins.

There are many great restaurants and a vibe that I really enjoy. It is a very touristy spot, yet I still greatly appreciate it as a local. It's always a fun place to spend time or to go for a short walk after eating out.

The drop off spot for the occasional cruise ship as tenders are used to get to shore. Pretty much a tourist trap on the boardwalk, which can save having to walk to cannery row for the tourist traps. On the plus side, good location for checking out basking sea lions and perhaps a harbor otter.

The place has some good seafood restaurants. But many are closed for renovations. Seals are found throughout the year. Well maintained walk and bike ways. Parking is free for the first hour.

Monterey Harbor awesome way to end a fabulous trip. Well worth the trip from the Sea Goddess. Great views. Delicious food and sea lions for entertainment. Fantastic end to a great trip. One amazing man deserving of this awesome and amazing trip. FAMILY!!!!❤

What a delightful time. Sea lions galore and watched their antics for hours. They are not always there in such quantity, maybe May-June to September. Everyone young and older was enthralled . The boardwalk was fun with good places to eat. We had the best ice cream. Be sure to walk to the end and up on the viewing landing. A don't miss while visiting Monterey!

This was a fun place to walk around. Our initial plan was visit a restaurant here for a quick brunch, but when we came to this wharf, we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere here.
My husband even said this place is unexpectedly pretty and fantastic. We ended up trolling around the area.

Enjoy this great Fisherman’s Wharf. Plenty of restaurants and candy shops all the way down. Also find Whale watching tours at the end of the pier. Take a walk and enjoy the view. Also you can pay online for parking and parking is very reasonable just scan the barcode at the booth.

The area is quite tourist oriented, but the walking, biking and running trail is excellent. Parking close is a challenge with pretty good parking a few blocks away. I hear it is a great whale watching launching point.

I have the sense that The Old Fisherman’s Wharf is struggling post pandemic and with inflation.
My husband (who usually abhors tourist traps) has enjoyed it in the past so wanted to bring me for the first time in September 2022. A quarter of the store fronts were boarded up and pricing on the food was incredibly steep, even at grab and go style spots.
We scrolled through reviews for the restaurants on the wharf and did not think any of them seemed worth spending the money they were charging. I do think that if we had been more in the mood for a tourist trap and feeling spendthrift our experience would have been different. Saw some gorgeous views available from within the restaurants and certainly seafood here would be 👌👌👌. Will update my review if we find ourselves here again.
We did enjoy the salt water taffy we picked up on our way out from one of the candy stores that sold it individually rather than in $15 bags. We stayed less than twenty minutes.
Should note that the sea lions piled up on the shore right at the entrance to the wharf were a delight. We stood watching them nap, clamour over each other and brawl a bit for probably a half hour. We smiled as wide and laughed as hard as the kids who were also transfixed.

I liked the nostalgic atmosphere and not too many crowds. Lots of good clam chowder stores and souvenir shops. We also saw sea lions and seagulls.

It is a nice place to visit and walk around with your family and friends to have fresh ocean breeze. On the way, you could see gift shops and restaurants with seasonal decorations. At the end of the street, you go up and use the telescope to view the ship far far away with couple quarters.

Old Fisherman's Wharf is a vibrant hub of maritime charm and culinary delights. The historic atmosphere, coupled with the aroma of fresh seafood, creates an inviting experience. Strolling along the wharf, you'll find an array of shops, seafood restaurants, and lively street performances. While it can get crowded, especially during peak hours, the energy adds to the excitement. Seafood lovers will appreciate the variety of options, from clam chowder in sourdough bowls to freshly caught fish. Whether you're seeking a delicious meal, unique souvenirs, or a scenic waterfront view, Old Fisherman's Wharf offers a quintessential taste of coastal California.

Very cute to walk around. Typical pier with shops along the way. Very touristy but if you’re around the area worth checking out and taking a stroll. Beautiful views. It feels like a cleaner version of San Francisco or Santa Monica, of course, to a smaller scale, but I almost prefer it that way.

Good spot for a classic California Wharf experience! Closest parking is the ‘Old Fisherman Wharf Parking Lot’. There are plenty of pay stations here, $1.50/hour and they take Credit Card.
Most of the restaurants/shops on the main wharf open at 10am. Lots of sea good options.
To see sea life there are 3 options. 1) you can walk along the cove trail that is accessible from the parking lot. 2) you can go past the whale watching business to the end of the main wharf and 3) you can go to the wharf with the Monterey Fish Co. This is the wharf that the sea lions are under.
We went in the morning between 9-10 and got lucky seeing some sea critters. May be a good time to target for less crowds and feeding time for the animals in the bay.

On the evening of the 25th of December on Christmas day, we decided to visit the place and found it really worth visiting.
There was a gentle breeze welcoming us and the sea was quite. Most of the shops were open and Christmas decorations were giving a pleasing look all around.

Coast Guard Pier is a pier located in Monterey, California that is frequented by large numbers of sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters as well as seabirds. It can be heard from a great distance that the seals are barking.
Great place to walk; nesting cormorants, sea lions, otters, osprey; plus view of the harbor and boats
Richard Paquette — Google review
It's a hidden treasure around the city of Monterey. There's a short trail on the pier lead into the sea, where any can observe sea lions and otters swimming around. We were lucky to see a new born otter laid on it's mother's belly, amazing!

My husband and I walked over to the Coast Guard Pier, but stopped in fishing store at the start of the Pier first. That was fun. Then on to the sea lions! There are sea lions everywhere you look. They are so close you can almost touch them. I took a lot of photos and videos of them. It was a beautiful walk on a beautiful sunny California day, so I highly recommend this Pier to all ages!

The sign reads, enter at your own risk. Certainly found it to be a risk worth taking. The ocean was calm but the sea lions weren't. Sounds of their barks bounced off the water for miles. Totally worth it! Jelly and star fish were just two of the many sea critters we witnessed on this little trek. Loved it!

We went during a weekday and were literally almost the only ones there. Got amazing views of the sea lions pretty up close. Younger children would have a hard time seeing them unless they were held up so they can see over the fence. I added a picture of my husband for reference. Hes 6' 7" though so he had no problem peeking over. Pretty cool little spot if it's not busy.

Unfortunately Pier is not in good condition if you want to see fancy aspects but all animals are free over there to live. Most part of pier is closed to walk because to protect animals I guess. To take photos highly difficult for seals from there but You could have seen that they are very happy .Many animals around also and creatures .The weather is mostly misty and cloudy and cool in the summer. In Fact I liked there , I enjoyed while taking photos for interesting compositions.

Jack's Peak Park is a great hiking destination with breathtaking views of nature, the ocean, and the city below. The park is well maintained and has easy parking with a clean restrooms. The hike is easy and peaceful with beautiful trees. It's also shady with lots of benches to relax on while enjoying the views. The park is free to enter, unless you are planning a group outing (which offers even more spectacular views).

Over all the experience was great for many reasons - weather was awesome, trails were clean etc. However it was easy to get lost on a wrong trail as it has no marks or sign boards. Basically if there aren’t signboards, do not embark on that trail (specially narrow ones). If you want to try the skyline trail, start from the parking itself rather than doing the whole iris trail and trying to merge to Skyline (we made this mistake, never made it to skyline end 😔)
And yeah; word of caution for poisonous Oaks, cover yourself with long sleeves and full length track panos or jogger’s.
Trail at Jacks peak park are a must; prepare well, carry extra drinking water and some snacks.
And yea most of the trails starts downwards and there is more of climb while returning.
Happy tracking, hiking 😀😎

Update 3/20/24: due to all the trees that were cut down and cleared, it's changed some of the character of the trails bringing out more ticks. Even with long sleeves I found a very large tick deeply embedded in my abdomen.
I love hiking here any season. Just a beautiful place to be. I'm glad it's open again. You can tell it's been awhile since the trails were used with all the new growth. This just adds to the tranquility of the area.

Pleasant surprise. A wonderful park to walk your leashed dog amongst the tree and brushed line trails above Monterey. Good parking, clean restroom and nice views between the trees of the Monterey Bay and Peninsula. Some rolling hills in dirt trails, with poison oak. Do not recommend wheel chairs or people with limited mobility.

Certainly one of the nice areas to check out in Monterey. The views are spectacular, and hiking is really fun provided you don't have kids with you who need a stroller. We had to take a stroller since our little one was not so enthusiastic about hiking, and it was a lot of work maneuvering the stroller through hiking trails. Other than that, it was a great hike. There is also a view of Carmel beach where you can see the early sunset. Bathrooms are clean and there are a couple of seats for enjoying a snack near the parking lot. It is recommended that you download an electronic map of the trails in advance from the website to make it easier to navigate through them without wasting so much time.

One thing, your car might take a slight beating on The drive.... That being said, so worth it, such Beautiful views!! Might I add that it's nice to see a park that has been kept clean, the trails are well kept, yet nothing takes away from nature. The San Carlos Cathedral (Royal Presidio Chapel) is a historic religious building in California. It was built between 1791 and 1794, and originally served as a chapel for the Spanish Royal Presidio of San Carlos. The cathedral is now open to the public as a tourist attraction.
It was our first time going to this church. It was close to Marriott so we walked going there. There was a cross with Jesus nailed on it hanging above the altar. The priest Fr Ron so friendly, he walked from the front all the way to the back greeting parishioners. He was joyful making everybody laugh with some of his comments. When he was going around sprinkling blessed water he brushed some head with stuff he was using to sprinkle. He was funny in a nice way. Enjoyed listening to his sermon which was about Mercy. It's special meaning of being willing to enter the crisis of another person. Father, thank you for a great sermon. Will try my best to put it to practice. Love this church.

If you want to know more about early Monterey history, you need to see the Cathedral. It's Adobe, as were most of the buildings of the Spanish & Mexican period, with problems from things like planting redwood trees almost touching the walls. Roots had grown up into the walls, the trunks were pushing them over. About 10 years ago, they remodeled/saved it. In doing so, they found decorations made by the indigenous the Spanish were trying to convert, original tiles. It may look better now than it did in the 1860's.

Beautifully maintained as a historic and continually functioning worship space. I feel as though we see into the past as we look up close at the walls: certain small areas of the current interior walls are exposed and re-covered with transparent plexiglass for viewing the original painted designs. I wonder how they created and colored such paint in the 1700s? I'm guessing they used local resources, including plants, for the pigments?

If you love antiques this is the place to go. The selection is quite massive it will be hard not finding something.... It's definitely well lit there are two levels and the entire place is full.... Great two story antique mall close to the aquarium. Prices arent bad. Lots of books and printed materials. Toys coins clothing records paintings. Clean and easy to walk around.

Lots of booths of antiques to look through. A very fun store to walk though, two stories, and a lot of variety. It appears they have expanded their selection over the last few years so there are a lot of new things to consider when you go. Take a break from the other stores and enjoy exploring some items from the past!

Great place, two floors with many vendors- seemed like there'd be something for everyone. Some vendors had great prices, others I felt too high (same exact items doubled in prices depending on where you find it)- but an item is worth what someone is willing to pay right. I'll definitely stop in again when I go back to Monterey.

This is an amazing place! The vendors are constantly adding items. My husband and I go regularly just to wall through and enjoy the history. We've bought a number of items over the years. Most recently, I bought a set of amethyst depression ware. If you've never been, it's worth a visit.

I love this place but recently some of the items here are not “truly” vintage (for example, i found fashionnova clothes which if you know is a modern fast fashion company, NOT vintage). In my opinion there should be more antique finds.
The 2 ladies who help my husband and I were fantastic. We need a route map from Monterey to San Francisco . Just use the computer and print it of said one of the ladies. The Monterey Museum of Art features exhibitions of 20-something traveling exhibitions hosted by the museum each year. The permanent works of art include paintings and sculptures produced by prominent California artists.
The Monterey Museum of Art is a delightful destination in Downtown Monterey! During our recent visit, we were very impressed by the exceptional quality and variety of the exhibits. The interior of the building is not only appealing but also provides a beautiful backdrop to showcase the artwork. The staff's expertise and warmth left a lasting impression, making us feel exceptionally welcome. Having explored numerous museums around the world, I feel that the well-trained staff at the Monterey Museum of Art created an unparalleled sense of comfort and friendliness. They not only answered our numerous questions but also offered insightful background information. A visit to the Monterey Museum of Art is highly recommended!

Lovely little museum with ever-changing exhibitions of more-modern-era art forms, mostly from California artists, and mostly paintings. The front room functions as a gallery for regional artists’ pieces.

This place is a GEM! We have really enjoyed every visit and now we are members. Everything they have in their current exhibits is wonderful, fascinating, and inspirational.
I keep thinking back on what I saw.

Well, I did want to see The Jane Kim exhibit. It was small, interactive and interesting. But the staff hovering was a bit much. If we have to wear masks and socially distance (per signage) they should do the same.
At $15 each ticket not exactly a bargain to spend an hour. If you go, stop here first, so if you are disappointed you can be cheered up by the very large, very FREE ocean and flora and birds!
I saw a Peta sticker on a car outside. I mention this because in the CA exhibit was a mission on whalebone--ouch.
I thought the flora fauna exhibit was very dull. Penelope Gottlieb's piece puzzling. To me showcasing Audubon as reference misses the mark. However, the pottery with butterfly the best piece in that exhibit.
So my adventure ended very sadly because Colton Hall too was closed. It is across the street.

Went here a few days after they opened to the public and had such a wonderful experience with the family. Practicing covid protocol so we practically had the museum to ourselves since the groups are so small. Employees are very warm and knowledgeable, and there is surprisingly a lot to see here for all ages. They allotted 45 minutes and I agree that was just enough time for us to enjoy all the displays at a leisurely pace. Street parking only from what I saw but it wasn’t too difficult to find .

Del Monte Beach is a long and wide stretch of sand located at the end of the marina in Old Fisherman's Wharf. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing and has lovely sand dunes with walkways intertwined throughout.
Great beach to visit. You can park close by and the walk isn't far. I like that this beach doesn't have crazy waves like you find in most areas around monterey.

Del Monte Beach is the basis for many of my childhood memories, and the first place I go to whenever I come back to the MBA. Parking is usually available, and it is always kept clean. Once your feet touch the wooden boardwalk you know you walking on history and the view is spectacular. Sunsets here are epic and it is a great place to start and finish a walk.

Awesome beach with miles of sandy coast to explore. This beach is one of the busiest in Monterey so be aware of the parking limitations. Parking is in a neighborhood so please be courteous to the residents.

The beach was not clean and there are flies everywhere we visited this place on Christmas eve as many near by beaches are super busy. I don’t recommend this beach if you are visiting first time. There is enough parking and easy access to many restaurants.

Great beach! 🏖️
Great spot to have a beautiful view of Monterey and Pacific Grove coast.
There is definitely no overnight parking but some people Park more towards the left of the residence instead of on the right facing the beach.
There are public porta potties at the end of the road. Not the cleanest but it is definitely worth it when you need to go. There are 2 public parking spots and 2 for handicap ♿. First come first serve 👀
Not lit at all at night BUT it is low traffic on non holiday days. Enjoy!

Lovely, long, sandy beach. Great for long leisurely strolls. Parking is free, if you get there early, but, as mentioned in other reviews, it is limited. They could stand to have public restrooms here, but, otherwise, no complaints!
There is a nice landscaped buffer between the beach and the neighborhood with boardwalks and benches for sitting up above the beach and watching the people and the waves with Monterey Bay in the background.

Excellent clean beach with decent parking and access with not many stairs etc. Kids and grownups can have great time. Not too crowded too. There are no rest rooms or showers though. It was beautiful sunset view here with moon rise on other side. Very peaceful atmosphere!

Enjoyed jogging on the beach here a few months ago. Lots of people with their dogs, the beaches are a bit rocky in the water, but still joggable. Make sure to keep items attended as they do cleanup sweeps on this beach.
I went for a jog and left my shoes unattended and a gov worker who cleans the beach picked them up during their sweep. Fortunately I got back from my run in time to catch up to them and get my shoes back 🤣.
This place is a sleepy town, but man it’s nice to be near the water.
I visited in March, it was warm and quite crowded.

The Monterey County Fairgrounds is an amazing event venue that features live concerts, rodeos, livestock auctions, and more. It's a great spot to go for Halloween haunted house fun!
Was headed home when we came across this pumpkin patch at the Monterey Fairgrounds. They had a haunted house, a mini hay bale maze, and great selection of pumpkins. Had a blast, if you're in the area, stop by and check it out. Caution on the haunted house lol 😆🤣 The people there were very kind and sweet.

Nice folks, very Travel Nurse Friendly. They have full hook ups. Gravel stone parking lot and not all spots have hook ups 9n the correct side of RV so have some extra sewer hose in case. But it's a nice location. Next to airport so you may hear some jets take off, but not bad. Nice location close to Monterey attractions. No cable TV but with a good antenna you can get 40-50 plus stations, point antenna to East. You may need to level your rig. The gates close at night but you get a code to open the gate. For me, it is great. Nice friendly folks running this place and it meets my needs. I like it.

The price is definitely right the entrance is a little steep. If you have a long rig scraped at the back entering but the people are great totally self-contained, and the bathrooms are a little far so I can’t tell you what they were like as I didn’t take it vantage of that, but definitely close to everything
Carmel River State Beach is a great place to go for a walk or to surf. It's also home to many different types of birds, and people can often spot sea lions and other marine life. The beach is very dog-friendly and offers a tranquil environment perfect for taking in the sights and sounds of nature.
We had two amazing days at this beach with our toddlers. The hike down is easy, as there are stairs, and the beach isn't far from parking. The tide pools at the beach are full of amazing sealife and provide hours of exploring. An artist was there painting both days and I captured some truly marvelous photos. It's a really great spot.

Really perfect place for kids to play. The water is warm and clean, and there are a lot of pelicans resting in the river. Besides, you may explore the sea creatures in the rock such as crabs, hermit crab, fish, and sea urchin. You can also relax and enjoy the sea view through the fun trail. The kids set the crabs and urchin free before we leave. The parking lot is with limited spots, but you can park along the street. The restroom is quite clean. The most important thing is that the signal here is strong.

A gem of a beach at the end of scenic drive. It's changed somewhat for what I am guessing climate change. The river now runs through the sand. So there's not much room as there was. Parking lot is small. It's not overloaded with tourists like the other end of scenic. Still a nice place to hang out. Pics from 2020

This little beach is stunning and clean. We drove nearly 4 hours to come here so my son could play his guitar by the ocean. That's how peaceful it is. Plenty of sand to set up for the day while the family plays in the water. People enjoy building structures with driftwood. It's small and quaint with clean bathrooms and free parking. Parking is quite limited. I did have to circle several times until someone finally left. We arrived around 4 pm so you'll have better parking availability if you go early..You have to drive through neighborhoods to get here. Enjoy the stunning architecture and landscaping of all the individual homes as you drive through. I think I enjoyed the houses more than the beach!

Although parking is tricky at this location (roughly 20 spots) it is worth making the trip. I recommend avoiding weekends at all cost.
This beach has Carmel river access AND beach access. The river side is shallow and is perfect for children and new swimmers to get their feet wet. The beach may not be suitable for smaller children as the warnings are posted due to the drop off close to the beach. A lifeguard tower is present, but it wasn't manned on a Monday.
There is no shade so bring a beach tent or umbrella. It can get very windy so tie them down well.
I saw people with kites, canoes, boogie boards, and even some on paddle boards to explore a little up river. Water depth varies by season and when the river is actually flowing it deltas into the ocean and currents may be too strong.
Currently (early August) the river and ocean are separated by a large sand dune.
We enjoy coming here to soak up the sun and let the children play risk free in the shallow waters of the river.
La Bicyclette is a cozy and established bistro in the heart of downtown Toronto that specializes in French-Italian cuisine. The menu is constantly changing, incorporating local ingredients using old world techniques to create consistently flavourful and fresh food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all enjoyable experiences, with inventive takes on classics such as pizza and French toast. The atmosphere is reminiscent of European cafés, with rustic country tables and dangling copper pots lending a touch of rural charm.
A hidden gem. We stumbled upon La Bicyclette and had not made reservations but the hostess was so accommodating and seated us right away! The service was awesome and the food was even better! We loved everything, the gnoochi app was worth every penny! I highly recommend!

We dined here on a weekday in December, and they were still turning people away at 8:00. You'll need a reservation, or some patience, as this small, quaint and cozy corner restaurant is always busy...and for good reason. The location is perfect, the interior environment is just wonderful, the gorgeous open pizza oven keeps you cozy and warm, and the menu never disappoints. We've dined here several times in the past years, and the flavors always pop! We had the butternut squash soup, a wonderful salad, the incredible "Squash and Speck", (butternut squash) pizza followed by a perfect Le Creme Brulee and espresso. What a wonderful meal and dining experience... with the flavors just exploding again. The service was professional and prompt. Love this place!

Great spot after many locals advised us to try out. Great atmosphere. Had a wait so don’t expect to just be able to get a seat right away. Tried the gnocchi which we decided to get twice because it was absolutely delicious. Also got the bread plate with butter and olive oil. Pizza looked good but did not purchase.

Delightful and delicious. We ordered the seasonal autumn salad containing crisp bits of winter squash, impeccably fresh salad greens- finished with a sprinkle of creamy cheese and pomegranate seeds. Also the charred cauliflower nestled into a bid of sumptuous romesco sauce. We shared a crisp winter squash pizza. A delicious lunch in a beautiful restaurant with attentive service.

Solid European restaurant in the heart of Carmel-by-the-sea. Great service, cute decor and nice ambiance. We ordered the Linguine Pescatore and a Champignons pizza, and it was more than enough for the two of us.
Pizza was nice but dang, the linguine was one of the best I've ever had! Super creamy and savory, and it's easy to over salt the dishes with seafood but they got the seasoning down to perfection. A bit pricier than the neighboring restaurants but I 100% recommend the place!

They are usually pretty busy here on the weekends so it was good we made a reservation ahead of time and got sat right away. The service was really good, our waitress was friendly. Our entrees were alright. The best thing we ordered was the mushroom appetizer. It was very flavorful.
Liz K — Google review
It's been a year since I visited, and I was so sad that the linguine pescatore was gone. Fortunately, the truffle pizza remained, but today the salt was a bit too much. There were other seafood pastas, but unfortunately I wasn't satisfied. On the other hand, Pasta Verde delighted us with a very special taste. We waited for about 40 minutes because we couldn't make a reservation on a Saturday evening. We were very hungry after the golf and needed patience in the sudden cold weather. However, since this place was our favorite restaurant, we plan to visit again.

This is great European restaurant with really nice vibes from the splendid ambience. Nice French vibe in the inside though the food we tried tasted more local. Squash and pack pizza we tried was great. We tried the gnocchi plate du jour which was okay. For the price (and being Michelin), I did go in expecting more and felt overall it did fall a bit short.

Possibly favorite spot in Carmel. Been there for all times of day however most often lunch. Mushroom appetizer which is basically escargot but with mushrooms is excellent. Pizza always tasty. This French-inspired bistro has incredible food. We shared a salad and a soup to start, both were really good. The actual entrees were definitely the highlight of the experience though. We ordered the spinach gnocchi (which was incredibly soft and delicious), as well as three pizzas (Salumi, Pepperoni, and the Andrew Molera). This pizza is some of the best wood-fired pizza that I’ve ever had. The staff was excellent and the atmosphere was moody and European. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time, because this place really was bustling.

La Bicyclette in beautiful downtown Carmel has that European bistro feel lively and casual yet elegant. . Warm and cozy on the chilly night that we went, the service and food were both thoroughly enjoyable. We had been to lunch here previously and that was also very good.

Lovely restaurant with friendly servers, delicious food, and a comfy interior. We got lucky with an 8PM walk-in on a Saturday night.
Had the osso bucco entree with braised pork. The pork was cooked to perfection. However it was pricey at $41.
The salad saison appetizer was mediocre but the soup of the day (chicken vegetable soup) was delicious having been seasoned with a bit of a spicy kick.
But the Budino dessert—a chocolate flan-like dessert with a rich sea-salt caramel and served with sweet crunchy nuts and blueberry sauce—was the highlight of the night. So good I had two!
Don’t miss this popular spot in Carmel.

The food here is incredible. The warm bread and olive appetizers were amazing. Pizza was delicious too. The excellent food was marred by not so friendly service. The two hostesses were snooty (my pet peeve; why are some restaurant hostesses so snooty? They’re not curing cancer). The waitress seemed mildly peeved at seemingly small requests (refill iced tea). This seemed more like an understaffing problem but the place is small and there seemed to be a lot of staff so maybe she just doesn’t like her job. For much of the meal, we watched food being efficiently prepared by the young gentlemen at the pizza oven area, just to sit waiting to be served. The gentlemen had to quietly ring several times for the food to be picked up and served. Other than the lackluster service, it’s a great place.

This place is just so beautiful and the food is to die for. We ordered the roasted beet salad, margherita pizza and the basque pizza. Everything was super delicious and simply perfect. The only problem I had was the space. It’s really congested but the food makes up for the tiny space

We ordered the special, seafood ravioli at the time. It was cooked just perfectly. The sauce was a good balance to the ravioli. However, the quantity was very small for the ($) I’m not looking for a Cheesecake Factory experience but as a sharing plate, 8-9 pieces rather than 6 would have been better. The mushroom pizza was incredible. A hint of chili oil was a good touch. They didn’t spare on adding black truffle which I very much value. Mostly the ambiance is what set this place apart. Would come back again

A friend of mine had been here a couple of times before and invited me to have some lunch. Had the Hogs breath chicken salad (wasn’t too hungry). Our server was friendly and very cordial. It was our first visit to Hogs breath inn but certainly won't be our last. We come to Carmel often for the beach and on our anniversary. This year we decided to try this restaurant recommended by our hotel. It was in walking distance from our hotel and we didn't need to make a reservation. When you walk in you go down what feels like a side alley into an open outdoor seating area, the atmosphere here is relaxing. There are fireplaces next to most tables that you can ask staff to light for you. The menu had many sharable appetizers as well as a full lunch and dinner selection. They offer full bar service with local beer on tap. Carmel is very dog friendly and Hogs breath is no different, they welcome dogs with a doggie menu and water bowl. The staff were friends and attentive.

This place is quite awesome. The food is absolutely delicious and well cooked. The baby back ribs were exquisite and packed a lot of meat on them. The onion rings are also crispy, delicious and flavorful. The food is pricey though, but you will get good portions cooked perfectly, so it's a fair trade in the end. Plenty of good decor of Clint Eastwood as he originally owned the place until 1999.
The only downside here is parking is an actual nightmare. Took nearly half an hour to find a spot before I could go inside, so be prepared for that. The parking is the reason the atmosphere only got 3 stars as it does bring the experience down quite a bit.

My husband have been going to Hog’s Breath Inn for year’s. Our first trip to Carmel and we were looking for a place for dinner. We were walking around town, and we just decided to try it. We loved it and now when we go up to Carmel, that’s our lunch or dinner place. Normally we will just drive up for dinner. I’d recommend trying Hog’s Breath Inn. The bar area is separate from the restaurant. Bar area is nice to just sit and have drinks. It has a fireplace inside. I order martinis and they are delicious. The outside seating is really nice, with multiple fireplaces. Honestly I don’t know what the inside looks like. My husband and I have not ever sat inside. Staff are friendly and always polite, and professional.

Incredible experience here at the Hogs Breath Inn. Staff comfortably seated a party of 11 for us, and took care of us very well. The food was incredible, I got some of the best fish and chips I've had on the peninsula. To drink I had The Beautiful Carmel, a pleasant blend of Orange Cognac and Penut Butter Whiskey. I'm not usually a cocktail guy, but that was delicious and refreshing. I look forward to coming back here next time I'm in town.
Cantinetta Luca is a rustic and authentic Italian restaurant serving delicious classics with a contemporary edge. Dishes such as wood-roasted octopus, lemon-herb roasted chicken, potato gnocchi and filet mignon are carefully prepared using the best ingredients from various regions of Italy. The restaurant is lively and has an adjoining food store where visitors can purchase delicacies to take home.
Food was delicious. The porterhouse was absolutely spectacular, superior beef and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed the atmosphere as well and all servers were wonderful. Only issue was we had a pasta dish that was quite late to the table and probably only delivered because we reminded them. Having said that it was quite busy as it was a holiday weekend and the porterhouse was big enough that it tied the person over until the pasta arrived. We will absolutely go back.

The place is really good. We got a table without reservation. The hostess was very nice.
We ordered the pizza and ravioli. The dough of the pizza was great! The tomato sauce a bit spicy fir my taste but Ok overall. The ravioli were awesome. And the tiramisu was one of the best I had!
If you are in Carmel go to this place!

If you can, take a seat at the bar facing the kitchen where you can see everyone working, it’s just a gratifying experience to see the people hard at work making those seriously delicious Italian fares - it makes you appreciate the labor, the discipline, and the creativity that goes into making your meal.
The food itself was amazing, the gulf prawns on the bed of chickpeas was just grilled to perfection. The fungi pizza was straight from the wood fired oven in front of me and it was so hearty and comforting. The carbonara was as good as it can get. Overall excellent, we will come back again and also try to sit at the same place.

Phenomenal dining experience. Food was delicious and Mario was a great server. The wine list is also expansive and there’s good wine by the glass as well. Make a reservation if you want a table, and this especially applies on the weekends.

Favorite restaurant in all of Carmel. The ambiance feels like a Roman restaurant in Trastevere. The food is just as delicious too and plenty of wine options! I recommend the octopus and pasta allá carbonara. The quality of the guanciale adds to the texture and flavor of the dish. A must visit if you’re in Carmel.

The food was good, service was slow. But when we received our check we saw they charged us $40 for tap water... They didn't tell us that water wasn't free, nor tell us when they would refill our water it would cost us extra. The bottles weren't branded or had any sign of being worth 7 dollars each. Overall left a really bad taste in the mouth being swindled like that. Will not be returning and wouldn't recommend unless you like paying tons of money for tap water.

I can say a million great things about this place but nothing compares to the great hefty prices for those who can afford it. I was treated and will never come back based on just the prices alone. Now for my Review, staff was perfect, accommodating and very humane. From the moment we went in, I even saw the cheef come and ask how the stakes where...... Great to be honest but again to feed 3 should not be 400. Dollars. Thank u though. 5 stars just not actual stars

Amazing subtly decadent dining experience. A delicious collection of cured meats transitioning to a wonderful pasta course. Not crowded, not fussy, just good quality food and good service

I ordered the focaccia and it was $3 extra for olive oil...which is pretty outrageous, esp with how small the amount of olive oil is you can see in the photo. I also ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese, and I may be extremely biased about this because I've actually been to Bologna Italy and learned how to make bolognese, but it was pretty salty here and the depth of flavor wasnt as expected. And its a little disappointing as that is one of their most popular dishes. Everything is pretty overpriced, I asked for a sparkling water and got charged $7 for it. But the service was good and its a nice restaurant, I just dont think it was worth the $.

This was a lovely find in Carmel by the sea. We arrived last minute and weren’t able to book some of the more popular restaurants so we expected very little. However our server was friendly, helpful and very available to assist us. We were also surprised by the quality of the food, my pork chop was cooked perfectly and the flavour combinations with it were surprisingly tasty (I’m talking grilled peaches, kale and mushrooms). I will say that the focaccia we ordered as a starter would have been nicer with some herb seasoning but otherwise dinner and dessert were fab. Our cannolis were the best we’ve had in America so far so I’d definitely recommend that one in particular. My boyfriend kept taking bites out of my tiramisu also! We were seated quite close to another couple but they turned out to be quite friendly too so that was okay. I can imagine some people preferring more privacy though. All in all I would come back.

good food, place felt small and people too much squeezed in a small place. Ambience could be definitely better considering a fine dining vibe. Everything we ordered tasted really good, quality was also nice.
I want to give 1 star for the service. They took 1 hour and 15 minutes to bring our order, we had been waiting for soooooo long. They made up for the mistake for offering free desserts so that's fine.

Pizza margherita was nice, but the mushroom pizza was not great. Tiramisu was good.

In Carmel it is near impossible to get a bad meal. Cantinetta Luca is by far one of the best in town. We were here a year ago for the wife's birthday and this year was no different. I wanted to give 5 stars for atmosphere but the restaurant was very loud. There's a large table on the left as you walk in and the patrons were absurdly loud....

We had a lovely experience last week at Cantinetta Luca. Our server (Ali) was friendly, knowledgeable and gracious. The caprese salad with burrata was delicious. We ordered the Bolognese pasta and the Carbonara pasta. Both were absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked. The best ingredients. So flavorful.
One can take a scenic drive or walk along the Carmel Beach and surrounding cliffs, where there are several benches that offer stunning sunset views. Along Scenic Road, visitors can enjoy the charm of the lovely homes in the area. However, it's important to be mindful of directions as wrong turns can easily be made after passing through the Carmel 17 Mile Drive gate.
The Jamba Juice shop is a health-focused spot perfect for fruit smoothies, juices, and light bites. The staff is friendly and timely, and the drinks are delicious. However, the store does not specialize in vegan food.

I was very disappointed when I entered there was no greeting from anyone I stood there for literally 3to4 min watching young ladies walk to the from the front look at me and walk away, I asked can I please get some service, one looked at me and walked away. I feel its sad when young men and women take customer service jobs and are not friendly and professional or personable and have attitudes a d fir what? I'm disappointed and feel Jamba juice head management needs to do more customer service Training.

I just want to give a shout-out to whoever is working today at your Alvarado St location in Monterey. I just received my order through Doordash, and it arrived stapled in a brown paper bag, packed beautifully so as not to spill, and had decorated with my name. It was so cute, so above-and-beyond... such a simple thing but it made me happy. I rarely write reviews but I thought this deserved a big THANK YOU to the staff at Jamba!

I love my Jamba juices and their staff. I always get a greeting no matter how busy they are. I did a mobile order and walked in 6 min later and she was just pouring it from the blender. The place was packed with a bus load of soccer players. I was in and out in a second. Thanks Jamba

I love going to the Jamba downtown because the moment I walk in, the super nice girl who's there 99% of the time in the mornings is already entering the usual that my hubby & I both get. Especially now that Jamba offers mobile ordering, it's awesome being able to simply run in, grab our drinks, and get back on the road before work in the morning. The whole staff here is always friendly and makes an effort to get to know regular customers.

Worst customer service ever! Came to town for a conference. First day walked down and was told the oatmeal wasn’t ready which kinda made sense since they just opened... but okay. Second day I walked down 15 minutes later after they opened and was told AGAIN it wasn’t ready and would be an additional 10-15 minutes. When asked why... the young women tells me traffic was bad. Lol! Are you kidding me? Really how long does it take to make Oatmeal? It’s the only thing in the building that doesn’t require a microwave!!
Pebble Beach is an unincorporated area located on the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey County, California. It is home to various attractions like the iconic Lone Cypress which offers breathtaking views of Spanish Bay, Bird Rock and Ghost Tree. Another must-see spot in Pebble Beach is Seal Rock. Visitors can also explore nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea, a quaint town filled with historic sites and charming cottages.
The Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa offers guests all the pampering they could possibly want, with a rooftop sundeck and a spa that includes a hot tub. With convenient access to all of the citys attractions, it's perfect for a romantic getaway or business trip.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The spa is not to be missed. Just lean into the experience and enjoy...a real gem on cannery row. Definitely pay for the ocean view and don't miss out on the restaurant. I wouldn't waste this place on my kids lol but we saw some families there. My wife and I went to celebrate a friend's birthday and stayed for the mother's day festivities. The buffet was lit!!

This is exactly what I want when I travel. Clean, upscale (yet not budget-busting for the locale), great location and some of the best service I’ve had in all my travels. From the moment we checked in, the desk agent was genuinely friendly, and not just trying to appease. Our rough commute came up in conversation and she presented us with a small token of appreciation, along with a little gift for our 5 year old son, that really started our stay off right. She wasn’t typing away on a computer while talking to us, but giving her full undivided attention. You don’t get that often these days, sadly. The entire hotel is regal in design and upkeep, and everyone from the valets to the service staff go above and beyond to make you feel appreciated. Even the hosts/hostesses at the hotel restaurant say hello every time we pass by. My wife is the pickiest hotel guest and she can’t stop saying how impressed she is. Bonus: the entire hotel smells amazing. Turns out they have their own “scent” which can be bought in the form of candles/reed diffusers at the front desk. We bought 3 to bring home :) 11/10

This hotel is in a beautiful part of Monterey and the architecture wraps you in a feeling of luxury. The patio overlooks the ocean and you can dine outside and enjoy the sights of sea creatures. It’s so refreshing, relaxing and beautiful that your appreciation of the scenery, your food and the sights and sounds bring a lively feeling of excitement, the ability to have someone park your automobile is fairly lost today, I highly recommend the Monterey Plaza Hotel as it’s breathtaking beautiful appearance will mesmerize you,

All staff and hotel details - food, room, location, views - exceptional! Staying here for the week and travelling around to and from Monterey was the best decision we made. Valet staff exceptionally great and helpful! All in all, one of the best stays and vacations we have had. Thank you!

We've stayed here several times and have always enjoyed our stay. We like the ocean view rooms with a balcony. From the balcony you can see boaters, sea otters and hear the sea lions and waves. It's a very nice hotel with a couple of restaurants and a spa on the property. The hotel is in a great location with a short walk to the stores and aquarium on Cannery Row. You have to use the valet to park your vehicle.
Bruce S. — Google review
What they don’t tell you is that the ‘Ocean View Corner Balcony’ rooms are right under two roof jacuzzis and the pumps are incredibly loud. Also, you are under multiple treadmills and workout bikes. Be forewarned that they do not disclose this as you book. Room #1421 and #1321 from 7am to 9pm at night are very very loud. The owner of the property should have disclosed this somewhere. It is not ethically right to up charge more for rooms that are louder than anywhere else especially when you request a quiet room. We paid $700 a night the honor of not sleeping. It was really horrible and left us upset and super tired on the most expensive night of our stay.
The bed was not comfortable and once you get beyond the lobby the rooms are comparable to a Hilton.
The pluses:
The view is lovely. The staff is very nice. The spa was wonderful. The Schooners restaurant has amazing seafood.
In the future we will stay somewhere else and visit the restaurant. For the money you can get better rooms elsewhere and not have to be worried about sleeping through the night.

Room/bed/housekeeping: excellent! Location: Double excellent! Just an amazing property!! Will certainly be booking here again next time in Monterey!!

This was truly the most delightful experience. From the moment we arrived the staff were incredible. It was story book service from the classic age of American hotels. Valets and bellhops that met you with enthusiasm, a front desk that made you feel welcome and at home, and rooms that felt comfortable and palatial at the same time.
The view of the bay was unbeatable, and the hotel provided binoculars enhanced ever sea otter and aviary delight. The hotel Dining was tremendous, but nothing could beat the lounge/ great room. Sitting with other guests, sipping on wine and listening to live piano while looking out over the ocean…
I felt transported.
I have no doubt that hundreds of hotel staff scurried in the background of every experience to make it seemless and wonderful for us.
My thanks to all at the Monterey Plaza Hotel for the most perfect wedding anniversary we have had in 24 years of marriage.

This hotel is the best in Monterey. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. The out door balcony a bit small, but so wonderful to be looking out to the bay and seeing all the wild life. The hotel staff were all lovely and accommodating. We will be staying with the Plaza again and again.

We had a wonderful stay at Monterey Plaza. We ate at Schooner's a couple of times. No complaints about the food or drinks. I do recommend staying in a bay side balcony room. We enjoyed listening to the sounds of the water and seals. We even watched seals playing and sea otters resting in the kelp. Great service and a wonderful hotel.

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa made us feel at home in Monterey, even though it was our first time visiting. The location of the hotel offers guests easy access to many restaurants and activities on Cannery Row, the aquarium, Old Fisherman's Wharf. We also utilized the included bike rentals to further explore Monterey. The valet staff was always prompt and friendly whenever we needed our car to reach further destinations.
The hotel itself was fantastic with clean and spacious rooms. If possible, book an ocean view or harbor view room to enjoy the beautiful views and sounds of Monterey Bay. While we did not enjoy any of the on-site restaurants, room service was great. The hotel gym was clean, well-equipped, and has an impressive view of Monterey Bay. Everyone we interacted with was welcoming, friendly, and helpful whenever we had any questions.
While we do not know when our next trip to Monterey will be, we do know we will be staying at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa.

I booked this hotel for a special birthday surprise and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Upon checking in I was initially impressed by the staff, lobby and view of the water. The front desk associate who assisted me advised I had booked the inland view and suggested I could upgrade to a water view for additional $70.00. I took her up on the offer, but when I entered the “upgraded room” I immediately regretted my decision. The beautiful “water view” she had previously described was mostly obstructed by a bird pooped covered roof, trash filled gutter, netting and bars from the floor below/adjoining building.
After seeing this, I quickly called down to the front desk to see if there were any other rooms on the same floor or if I could just get my original room back. I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes and ultimately just hung up. We went back down to the lobby and spoke to the same front desk agent. She now had a clear attitude change and seemed extremely uninterested in assisting us.
She reluctantly changed our room back to my original reservation and put us in room #1234. As we entered the second room we noticed it smelled like smoke, was musty and had a view of a fence. At this point our initial impression of the hotel was gone. Our overall experience within the first 20 minutes was that the rooms were unimpressive and low end. There was not even a flat sheet on the bed which was shocking. There was only the fitted sheet on the mattress and a comforter on top of that. I truly felt like she punished us by finding one of the worst rooms since we were unsatisfied with the “upgraded room” she tried to sell us.
There are so many other hotels on the strip that I could have chosen but based on the photos and reviews I read online I thought the Monterey Hotel and Spa would have been better and I am sad that I wasted my money here.
I visit California frequently and have family and friends that come to this area often but I would definitely not recommend staying here.

This hotel is very beautiful, the staff goes above and beyond for their guests. Service is fast and friendly not to mention the location alone is right above a little beach area. Close to many 5 star restaurants. They have free bike rentals to explore along the beach. They offer free rides to any restaurant nearby. I could go on and on but instead I’ll be planning to book another stay here for next year !!

Just returned from my Birthday weekend at The Monterey Plaza and it was perfect! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I booked a spa day with 8 of my friends and the spa crew was lovely, Schooners staff was great (order the Buddha Bowl (with protein). SO good!!! One night 25 of us set up in the Lobby Lounge and had the best time listening to live music and drinking cocktails. And let's not forget the amazing views of the Ocean. Thanks for a great weekend Monterey Plaza!

I truly enjoyed my stay at Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa. Although I came for my business trip, I was under the delusion that I was on vacation somehow. It is such a lovely and romantic hotel with a breathtaking ocean view. Most importantly, all employees are so friendly and caring during my stay. They always asked if I needed a drink or anything else. They offered me a welcome fruit platter and beverages in my room. The TV screen displayed a welcome message with my name printed, which showed their exceptionally “personalized” hospitality.
The second night we were at the hotel's fine dining restaurant, and the name of this restaurant is “Coastal Kitchen Monterey.” We were served a delectable five-course seafood dinner graced with a delightful wine tour. The seafood was very fresh and tasty, and the servers were very well-trained and knowledgeable about all the food and drinks. We had a fancy dinner at the restaurant, especially in the panoramic window seats!

So impressed by Monterey Plaza Hotel. This was our first stay here and we will definitely be back. The hotel is very clean, staff is very friendly, and the views are unmatched. We also loved how there is a coffee shop and a restaurant connected to the hotel. The location is just off of the main walking area which makes it not so hectic. The staff all greet you with a welcoming smile and hello. We can't wait to be back! For reference with the photo attached, we booked a King Room with a Partial Ocean View and balcony and it was SO worth it! Worth paying a bit more for this beautiful view!

Great rooms. We had the 2 queen bedroom with partial bay view. The room was clean and kept quite nicely, the interiors were aesthetic too. My only gripe was the lack of a microwave in my room. We had the mini fridge but not the microwave. The TV was also a 55" 4K TV which is really above what you usually get. The wireless charging pad was a nice touch. The view was cool, and even though it is a partial bay view, the view was really awesome.

Monterey Plaza Hotel is our favorite family hotel. The hotel is beautiful, location is good and the ocean view rooms have a great view.
The rooms are a bit dated but are clean and the tech is updated to make it easy to cast movies or kids shows to keep them entertained.
The hotel restaurant Schooners always has fantastic food, and they have good cocktails and drinks for the adults.
The hotel lobby will often have music entertainment and a bar.
Tidal coffee is a great spot to grab some good coffee and snacks.
Overall, the hotel is hard to beat. It could use some upgrades, and the price is definitely on the higher side of Monterrey but it's our favorite hotel in the area.

We stayed for one night and everything was great! The room was clean and comfortable. We didn’t have time to use their hot tub but it would’ve been great for the cold weather.
Location couldn’t be better since it’s so close to the beach and it’s a short, pleasant walk to the aquarium.
Tidal coffee had some delicious breakfast options and really great coffee. We enjoyed our food and coffee with the great ocean view. It was quite chilly tho.
