The Lowell Observatory, located in Flagstaff, Arizona, is a working research center that houses the Discovery Channels telescope. The observatory was founded in 1894 by Percival Lowell and is famous for the first sighting of Pluto. The observatory has on-site telescopes including the famed 1896 Clark Telescope which helped to spur accepted theory for an expanding universe. Visitors can stargaze through the telescopes weather permitting.
Wow! What an amazing experience to learn about astronomy and view the solar system through their incredible telescopes. We attended 3 of the programs throughout the day - all excellent, and led by knowledgeable staff who are passionate about their job. Staff were all friendly and helpful. What a treat that we were privileged to use the famous 32 foot Clark Refractor once it got dark. The outdoor viewing deck was awesome! We had so much fun learning, seeing, and exploring the grounds. Must do for any age!

This is one of my favorite places on planet earth. I recommend going an hour before sunset and staying until they close at night. The Flagstaff sky is unreal and I could not stop staring into the sky full of stars. Such kind and smart people work there. The location is easy to get to, only a five minute drive from downtown. Plenty of parking but it does get full so beware! There are stairs and ramps for accessibility. The gift shop is awesome. I’m in love with this place and I want to come back during every season. You will learn so much and see so much amazing history. It’s amazing that you can step into the observatory that discovered Pluto! So worth it.

As a historic site marking the location Pluto was discovered, Lowell Observatory is a really unique place to visit if you're a star or space lover. I visited late in the night so that I could catch a glimpse of the stars through the telescopes. The night that I visited, Flagstaff was expected to receive some snow. The weather affects whether the telescopes will be on view or not, so I called the observatory ahead of time to make sure the telescopes would be out. The staff were super helpful and kind, and confirmed all of the information that I needed.
Lowell Observatory felt a lot smaller than I had anticipated, however, this place does have a lot of charm. I enjoyed visiting the Rotunda Museum to learn more about Pluto, and the gift shop also had a nice selection of items. I also viewed a short 25-minute movie about solar eclipses in the Steele Visitor Center.
The only thing that tarnished my experience was the long line to view the telescopes. The lines were very long since the telescopes opened late due to the inclement weather. Of course this is something that the observatory cannot control, but I would say to anyone visiting Flagstaff during the colder months to be prepared! Standing in the cold for 45 minutes to view through a telescope felt somewhat disorganized, especially since each telescope had their own line so we only got to see through one of them. It might be best to purchase tickets the day you plan visiting to make sure the weather conditions are ideal for telescope viewing. Likewise, if you're going during the colder months bring a jacket and a hat in case you have to wait in line.
Overall though, the observatory is a really unique place; if you're into this sort of stuff it's worth checking out!
P.S. - The purple star photo was taken on a Google Pixel during a long exposure shot which captures everything in the sky, even th things you do not see.

Loved the experienced. Solar flares viewing was terrific. Unfortunately, all the planets and the Milky Way were below the horizon, so the night viewing was not as fun as I expected but still a very unique experience. I wish they selected something other than a star or star clusters for viewing, but I understand that the choice might have been limited given the location of more fun viewing objects…. A tour that takes you to see the 125-year old Clark Refractor is a must. Unless you come in August or September, don’t expect to see fun things at night through the telescopes. You may just see a lot of white stars or star clusters that don’t look much different from what you see in the sky, so adjust your expectations.

This Observatory is Amazing! If your in Flagstaff it's a must see! All day passes are $25 or you can get a membership for $50 which is good for a whole year and if you want to make it a dual membership it's only $65! They have a Family membership as well, but I don't remember the cost of that one. They have multiple telescopes to see. One telescope was built in the late1800's and another was built in 1928 and was the telescope that discovered Pluto! They also have 6 new telescopes that were built in 2019 that they view stars and planets with and they allow you to look through the telescopes eyepiece and are currently building additional attractions. They also have a list that shows a breakdown of the prices of the 6 telescopes and their mounting. The employees are full of knowledge and are extremely friendly. If you are a local or a tourist in Flagstaff I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it!

Kid and parent approved! We arrived at about 7 pm, saw the telescope that discovered Pluto, went to the telescope out on the patio area and checked each one out, then listened to a presentation at the visitors center and the had one of the bigger telescope open that isn’t usually so we lined up to look through it. Finally we went to listen to the constellation presentation and the adults were enjoying it but the kids were just too tired so we left at 9:20. We really had a great time and learned a lot!

I would strongly encourage visiting. There are some museums and lectures, but the best part is seeing the telescopes. If you have flexibility, try and coordinate with clear weather. If the moon is out, you will get some spectacular views. If the moon is not out, you'll be able to see a lot of other things that a bright moon might make more difficult to see. We got to see Saturn with one of the telescopes, which was pretty amazing.
I'm not sure how badly I would want to return unless you really wanted to see other things in the sky under different conditions, but if you have never been here, I would very strongly encourage you to visit at least once.

Neat place if you are into astronomy. They have lots of telescopes. So at night is especially cool. Saw the moon close up, Saturn, Neptune & Jupiter. Also, from the top of the hill you get a great view of the city of Flagstaff below.

I can spend hours upon hours at this place. There is so much to see and learn about. The tours are very informative and not too lengthy. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend going when they first open to do the tours, then grab an early dinner to make it back for the evening Telescope viewing of the stars and planets. Your admission sticker is good all day, so you are able to leave the premises and then come back.

An interesting morning, the highlight of which was looking at the Sun through a telescope. Yes it was safe and so cool to see the black spots and solar prominences. It was also interesting to see the old telescopes and hear the history of discovering Pluto, etc. Our tour guide was nice but needs to hone her public speaking skills. I couldn't do the evening program but it sounded pretty awesome to view the skies through their several newer telescopes. Also a shout out to the guy at the desk (sorry, didn't catch you name but it was the morning of 4/27). He described things well and with enthusiasm having to say the same thing over and over again. The several kids there seemed to be enjoying it as well.

What an amazing visit to the Observatory. I’d recommend spending there at least 2hrs to be able to cover all key exhibitions and buildings. It was great to be able to look through their amazing telescope and feel like an explorer searching for new stars. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Wow, it's been 25 years since I was last here, not sure why as I'm in Flag frequently enough. When I was last here it was just the visitor center and a guided tour to one telescope. Now there's a whole complex you can browse at your leisure. My daughter is fascinated with Space and was super excited to come here. It's absolutely amazing. There are multiple telescopes for you to look through (weather permiting) and the folks that operate them will show you many amazing things. She had a blast. They have stools to help kids (and short folk like myself) see through the lenses. We were there for 4 hours and had a great time. Still magical all these years later.

There is a lot more stuff than I expected. I would love to come here again at an earlier time since I came at a later time and some stuff was closed off. But it was great to explore and loved the little gift shop. A lot of the staff were nice and well mannered. At one of the digital telescopes they pointed it towards Pluto but since it's so far you need a lot more pictures over time to see which dot moved compared to the stars in the background.

This is more a scientific campus with mostly passive education thru scheduled walking tours and videos, but I think the new interactive public education center opening up in November 2024 will really enhance the experience. It was cool to see up close the huge telescopes used in milestone discoveries (Planet X, err Pluto, anyone?) and the actual sun thru the sun telescope (red circle with black dots that are sun spots).

Definitely worth a visit to if you are in Flagstaff. It is a very interesting place and I learned the observatory played a key role in discovering the former planet (now dwarf planet) Pluto. The Clark telescope is here and there are many other cool exhibits to check out here.

Absolutely incredible. We came during the afternoon and checked out some of the exhibits. We were able to look at the Sun from one of their telescopes and learn about the history a Pluto and exactly how old was discovered. We then came back in the evening time, and that's when the observatory really shined. We were able to see jupiter, beetlejuice, the moon and multiple star clusters in pretty stunning detail. We were also able to look through the Clark telescope to check out a pretty distant star cluster. They also had a really cool constellation tour world guide would point out the constellations with a laser pointer empire explaining how the constellations got their names. Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip.

A visit to Lowell Observatory is truly an exploration of both the cosmos and the unique earthly environment it resides in. Situated at a high elevation, the observatory offers a breathtaking view of the celestial wonders above. The clear night skies at this altitude provide an unparalleled canvas for stargazing, making it a haven for astronomy enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. The observatory's commitment to public outreach and education is evident through its engaging programs and knowledgeable staff, who passionately share the mysteries of the universe with visitors.
However, it's essential for prospective stargazers to be mindful of the practicalities of the location. The high elevation brings cooler temperatures, even on clear nights, and the weather can be quite cold. Therefore, I highly recommend packing warm layers of clothing to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Despite the chilly weather, Lowell Observatory's cosmic wonders and educational initiatives make it an exploration worth embracing, offering a unique blend of celestial marvels and earthly elements.

We really like the location, the science, the telescopes, and the story of discovering Pluto.
We went in the afternoon and came back ( tickets good for entire day) to star gaze. They had several telescopes aimed at various objects.
The Clark scope was on Saturn our night
And one can see the Milky Way

Very cool for you space nerds out there. Will try to make it back during the night to actually observe.
Enjoyed small presentation about solar eclipse that was coming up. Went on a free guided tour about Lowell his passion and wealth, the beautiful property during the fall and, the main telescope story and construction.
Disappointed that the newer observation building was not open and couldn't do any sun gazing. We were short on time with only 3hrs so had to cut things short. With everything available you could easily spend 5hr+ id imagine.
Walnut Canyon National Monument is a vast, sprawling canyon and national park located in the East Valley of Arizona. The park preserves ancient Sinagua cliff dwellings, as well as other artifacts from the surrounding area. There are several trails around the monument that allow visitors to explore its many nooks and crannies.
My wife and I found this monument to be very beautiful. Stunning views but even more impactful were the cliff dwellings. Such a resourceful and innovative people to have constructed these dwellings into the cliffs. The really enjoyed the trails. I am in great shape. If you are not, definitely make sure that you bring water and a snack as well as take your time. There are a decent amount of steps on the island trail and many were winded going back up it seemed.

They make it very easy to get around and look at the Hopi dwellings on the sides of the cliffs. Stairs with handrails and set trails. I took the 1 mile trail with 736 stairs but there are several benches along the way if you need to take it slow and catch your breath. Beautiful views. $25 to park just for a heads up unless you have a National Park pass.

We couldn't believe we stumbled across this place! We heard about this fantastic National Monument from some other travellers we met on our way.
We made the effort to visit not fully knowing what to expect. And boy are we glad we did it. We have 2 children under 10 who learnt so much from the walk into the canyon and from the Rangers who took the time out of their day to talk to and share some info with us and the kids. They were so good with the kids and they enjoyed doing the Junior Ranger activities.
The walk itself wasn't hard at all. Lots of steps but if you have a reasonable fitness level it will be a breeze.
One place that is truly magnificent and shouldn't be missed!
Thanks to the staff here who were wonderful! Made our visit from Australia that little bit more memorable 🇦🇺

This is a really extraordinary monument. Not only can you learn about how the ancient people of this region lived, you can also enjoy the beauty of Walnut Canyon. I highly recommend the island trail. It is .9 of a mile and has 185 steps. Although the sun is strong and temperatures high, there’s a nice cooling breeze coming up from the floor of the canyon to help cool your ascent. The rim trail is interesting, but not nearly as dramatic and a fraction of the work of thr Island trail. The visitor center offers helpful orientation and the staff is super friendly.

Great spot to get all the information you need for the park visit. We got our magnets from here. Kids got their junior ranger book and badge. The rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Do check the hours before you visit.

Great hike and good information all along the trail. The longer trail has bench to rest for those who want to catch a breath or view! Park rangers are around to give more info and answer any query that one might have. Enough parking place, picnic benches, clean bathrooms.
Highly recommend for those who want to spend a day not too far from Flagstaff! Or maybe a stop on way ..

We enjoyed this stop. They have a nice picnic area and clean bathrooms. On the rim trail you can see some ruins. Part of the trail was closed but still enjoyable. We didn't go below the rim to see the cliff dwellings since my husband wears a brace and the 273 steps down were too hard on him. Staff was very helpful and very nice.

One of the best National Monuments we have been to. We did the longer hike and it was so worth it. The pathway is paved with lots of stairs but if you bring good shoes, take your time and drink lots of water this is an amazing hike with beautiful sites. So much history here and it is so interesting.

This is a very interesting national monument. The visitor center is one of the best ones I have seen because it is set on a piece of land overlooking the canyon making it very beautiful. There are big giant windows that allow you to look at the canyon from the inside. The hike is very interesting because it is a cliffside hike that lets you walk in to various rooms that situate on the cliff. The trail I would think is only half of the overall canyon because it goes back to the visitor center before we finish the whole canyon. The rest of the canyon cannot be walked on because I think they try to preserve it.

Great visit fun hike! Two levels of hikes one with lots of stairs and another on the rim. Perfect choices for our party.

Great place to hike/walk paved trails. Very close to Flagstaff. The Sinagua Indian ruins are cool too. Lots of cool plants that are labeled so you know what you're looking at. The entrance fee of $25 per car is pretty steep considering what you see at other parks but it's nice. Definitely buy one of the US national park passes if you're also going to the grand canyon. Probably should have thought about it but just wanted to take pics in the snow.

We really liked this place.... The docents are friendly and knowledgeable... Well laid out trails with hand railings and uniform steps. Of course trip down was easier than coming up but not a killer trail for this 65 year old. The canyon is very scenic and seeing the cliff dwellings made sleeping in my comfy bed that night even better!

This place blew away my expectations. Simply awesome. The hike down is about 250 stairs or so if I remember correctly. So it’s a bit strenuous. But 100% worth the effort. The canyon itself is gorgeous and you can see the walls are ringed by countless ruins. This must have been an impressive settlement in its heyday.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! There is one that is very simple and high above that we visited with our dog. The Island Trail doesn’t allow pets. It is strenuous because there are so many stairs, but it was beautiful. I am so grateful I could manage to do it. Breathtaking views of the canyon and views of the dwellings in the cliffs!

Beautiful park, amazing Hopi settlements/cave dwellings. 546 steps round trip, pretty easy, but take water. Spectacular views and lovely park employees. Park pass is $25 but buy a year-long one for use at many parks.

This is a really cool site inside the canyon where you can see the remains of ancient cliff dwellings. There's a nice exhibit at the Visitor Center which tells the history of the location, which was inhabited by the Sinagua people (ancestors of the Hopi) about 1,000 years ago. There are two short, well maintained trails which take you around the site. There is plenty of signage to help tell the story of the canyon. Entry is $25 per vehicle, but is included in the annual "America the Beautiful" national parks and federal recreation lands pass.
Joel Keralis — Google review
This is an amazing park where you walk down several hundred steps to visit ancient settlements or cave dwellings. Be sure to take water with you. Walkways and steps are well maintained but can be difficult for some. I would not recommend very small children or elderly to take this hike. Park staff was all very friendly and helpful and willing to teach you what you want to know about the dwellings.

Beautiful scenery with great geological exposure

This was our first park of the 3 Flagstaff NPS stops. Google maps stopped a bit short, but we just followed the signs to the park.
We came after it snowed, so the one of the main trails was closed. Made sense as it was the one that took you on the cliff edge. You can see them in my photos and also some of the stairs across the canyon. They had some other historic locations to see on the path outside the Visitor Center. Beautiful scenery for sure with the snow.
We have to come back again when it is warmer so we can take the other trail.

The canyon named after the flourish black walnut trees in the canyon.
Native American lived on the cliffs for 130 years. It is a short drive from Flagstaff and worthwhile visiting.

Unbelievable history to learn about here! The sights are beautiful and inspiring. There are many places to catch your breath on the way back up - don't be intimidated by stairs, it's well worth it. The visitor center has a really interesting video to tell of some of the history and a great view where you can experience the sights without going down to the island. There are signs all over explaining the history of the people who once lived there. There is another hike around the rim, too. Both paved, wear sneakers. The park rangers there are awesome and full of knowledge to share.

Very interesting cliff dwellings in a beautiful canyon.
MANY, MANY steps to go down into the canyon and back out. The whole path is concrete or bricks, with MANY steps throughout, so hiking sticks are pretty useless.
Note that you can see a few of the cliff dwellings without going down many, if any, steps, but by going down the whole path you get to see many more and go into several of them.
Nice 30 minute movie at the visitors center.
Doug Piette — Google review
Great spot to see some of the historical dwellings in the region, built in the canyon where the rocks have been undercut by water, forming a natural ceiling.
The visitor center is small, but the 20 minute film is good and the rangers are helpful.
There are 2 trails from the visitor center, a 1 mile trail that drops into the canyon where you are right next to the dwellings (Island trail), and a shorter trail that stays on the rim. The island trail has excellent interpretive signs about the history, geology, and plants.
Ethan Lindstrom — Google review
This was a very cool experience! I rarely rate things 5 stars but this was worth it. Note, the walk around the island was long and there's no external railing, which can be scary for people scared of heights. It is also a long climb out, so bring water and take your time. But totally worth the trek if you're physically able.

There is a lot of information to digest here so give yourself a couple of hours. If you like arts and crafts you will love the native American Indian artefacts and textiles. If you're interested in geology there is a whole section devoted to the Colorado plateau and the rock formations. If dinosaur history is more your bag you can dive into the section on historic eras and marvel at the remains found in the region

The STAR WARS EXIBIT IS NOT THERE ANYMORE, NEITHER IS R2D2 FYI! This is a beautiful museum with lots of interesting pieces and exhibits. The only downside is the gift shop is VERY expensive, beautiful & unique items but expensive. There isn't children's section in the shop where you can get an affordable small memento or keepsake. Even the stickers start at 10 dollars. The shop is geared towards collectors not children who may be visiting the museum as well. I asked one of the gift shop attendees if there was another gift shop and she rudly just said, "No". Some of the reviews indicate there are indeed two giftshops. My son was quite disappointed at the end of our visit but still thought it was a nice museum overall. My children aged 8 & 1 enjoyed the random ant play area.

Wonderful hidden gem. Provides a great history of the area both culturally and geographically. It seems like a smaller museum but if you took the time to absorb even 10% of it, it would take at least a full day. Very interesting to learn about the native tribes, their history, and evolution of tools and housing. While a lot of the museum won’t appeal to younger children, there were sufficient children-oriented activities and exhibits to keep mine 4 and 7, occupied for 3 hours. Hoping I can come back with just my wife one of these days to spend more time taking it all in with my wife.

This museum is fantastic. I wish I had more time to visit. If I lived in the area I would become a member. Their exhibits change something there's always something new. There's a lot to unpack. Best part is learning about the People of the Colorado Plateau from themselves. I love to hear people tell Their-story rather than History. It's more authentic that way. Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course is an amusement park that features zip lining, high ropes courses, and swinging swings for kids. It is located in Forthill Country Park in Flagstaff, AZ.
We had the best experience at Flagstaff Extreme on a tree to tree adventure with obstacle courses and zip-lining through the forest in Flagstaff.
We were first-timers and it was intense but fun at the same time. We felt safe, secure, and informed as we advanced across the course. Be ready for a workout! Knowledgeable staff and incredible experience! Honestly this was the highlight of our trip to Arizona. We were all a little worried about the heights, but had so much fun that we didn’t notice after the first run. There was more hiking then we expected and we didn’t wear the right shoes, so take that in mind before signing up. Bring your own gloves and wear sunscreen…we all got a little pink after 3hrs in the trees.

This was so much fun! We did the challenge course and It was the hardest thing I have done in a while—both physically and mentally. But we finished it and we felt so accomplished. I want to train more and come back to do the adventure course again. Such a blast for those looking for a physical challenge. They have other options for those who want something less extreme.

Our two kids and niece and nephew did the kids course. They had a blast after getting over their initial fear of heights. There are not guides up on the course with the kids to help them click in and out at each step so it does require your child to have some patience with learning how to do the harness correctly. You are able to walk along below them on the course and offer plenty of coaching and encouragement from the ground. The course is a loop and so they have to do every step - they can’t skip any. If one of the guides has to come up and get your child from the course, they can’t go try again later. This was good for us actually because it helped our daughter stop and compose herself when she understood that if she gave up, she was done. If they’re having a great time, they can for the course as many times as they like. I think our nephew did it 4 times and everyone else did it 2 or 3 times.

Such a blast! My husband and I did the Adult Adventure Course with our two older boys and we all had such a great time. It definitely challenges you both physically and mentally in the best way possible. They've done such a great job with the course, there is a lot of variety and we loved how it got progressively more challenging. My husband and I completed the red level, but our boys made it all the way through the black. I would recommend adding on the gloves and water, or bringing your own, you will definitely need both.

It would be nice to know what times they are busy. For first timers the wait between zip lines can be kind of nerve racking but we enjoyed ourselves for the most part. The guides were super helpful and stay close even though it is a self guided tour. It is about two hours if there is another group on the trail. I thought the fun facts on the trail were interesting while waiting. Water is necessary when thinking about taking this adventure on.

The system was a blast to navigate, with a good mix of easy and challenging obstacles. The zip lines were incredibly exhilarating, and the views from the top were breathtaking.
We also appreciated the attention to safety throughout the course. The staff was always nearby to assist and ensure everyone followed proper safety protocols. We felt secure and confident throughout the entire experience.
We had a fantastic time at the Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling outdoor experience. The staff, equipment, and course were all top-notch, and we can't wait to go back and do it again!
The park is also located in a beautiful area of the Coconino National Forest, with great hiking trails and other outdoor activities nearby. So it's an excellent destination for a weekend trip.

We did the Challenge course which was amazing! It was very safe, but still scary and exciting. We took a group of 20 and everyone enjoyed it. There were several of us that did all 5 levels, and that last level was amazing!

A high adventure obstacle course built up into the pine trees. Includes zip lines, nets to climb on and multiple kinds of obstacles. Requires you manage your fear of heights and good upper body strength and grip strength. Great staff. Oh, and you can be rescued out of the trees at any point along the course. My 3 grandkids LOVED it.

Such a fun experience!
I am pretty scared of heights, and I had no fears while here. Granted, we got pulled down at 1.75hrs into it because of the lightning, but they made it up and gave us rain checks so we can reschedule.
What I did experience was fun enough to want to go back and finish the experience! The harnesses and training make you feel so safe and secure, as long as you are following all the procedures, you are totally safe!

We went for the adventure course and it was super fun. The tutorial video was good and the guides had us do a practice course to start. They sell water, gloves, etc., but you are more than welcome to bring your own. They lent us caribeaners for our water bottles so we cod have them with us on the course. I was a little worried with the big group we started with and the fact that it's one-way, but it didn't take long for us to all spread out and we weren't waiting for others in front of us. The guides were very helpful and encouraging, I was so impressed. I made it to the black level and had to be brought down, which was also super smooth. My husband made it to the end and got a bracelet. I loved that the course had many ziplines throughout it because I was debating whether or not to do the spline course instead. There was a good variety of obstacles and the view was beautiful. I also loved that people can observe for free. I was able to get pictures and videos after I was brought down.

I have never done climbing of any degree before, and have a severe fear of heights. I used this opportunity to build some confidence and hopefully break that fear. My guide Sabrina was fantastic and helped me along the way. She was very encouraging and really motivated me to keep going. I even started to feel comfortable after a bit and managed to complete 3/5 of the extreme courses (completed Blue). I'll definitely be going back to complete the rest one day.

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course delivered an experience that went far beyond our wildest expectations, creating cherished memories for our family and close friends. From start to finish, this outdoor adventure was a rollercoaster of emotions, pushing us out of our comfort zones and strengthening the bonds between us. Our excitement was palpable as we arrived at Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course with our friends and my mom in tow. The initial impressions were a mix of anticipation and awe as we gazed at the towering courses amidst the beautiful Flagstaff wilderness. As the challenges grew more daunting, nervousness set in, but it was all part of the thrill. The adventure pushed us to our limits, particularly the final course. It demanded incredible strength and determination. Each obstacle seemed more intimidating than the last, but with unwavering support from our group, we tackled them one by one, emerging triumphant. One of the most heartwarming moments came when my mom, who has a fear of heights, conquered her anxiety and successfully completed the courses. Her bravery was an inspiration to us all, proving that anyone can overcome their fears with determination and support. The earlier courses held a special place in our hearts because of their simplicity and the sheer joy of navigating them effortlessly. They allowed us to ease into the adventure and build confidence, making the experience even more enjoyable. While we didn't bring children along, the adventure strengthened our bond as a family and with our close friends. We shared in each other's triumphs and encouraged one another through the challenges. It was a testament to the power of teamwork and camaraderie. Perhaps the most unexpected aspect of our visit was just how challenging the courses became. It was a pleasant surprise that pushed us to discover our hidden strengths and capabilities. Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course did more than provide us with thrilling experiences; it created memories that will stay with us forever. It was a unique opportunity for us to connect, celebrate each other's victories, and strengthen our relationships. In conclusion, Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course is not just an adrenaline-pumping adventure; it's a transformative experience that brings families and friends closer together. It challenges your limits, celebrates your triumphs, and leaves you with unforgettable memories. This is a place where courage is celebrated, and bonds are strengthened. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking an extraordinary adventure and the chance to create lasting memories with loved ones.

My friend and I had a great time on the ropes course. The first 3 courses were not easy but the last two were way higher and much more challenging! But we finished and since I am over 60 years old, I got a free t-shirt! And we had a lot of fun!

For starters, I hope you are in terrific shape for this or up for a good challenge & workout! Full gloves are best. I avoided the recommended gloves, and was thankful I did. Even with full gloves my hands were extremely sore. The gloves did save me from blisters, pinches, rope burn, and callused hand at the end of the day. I do not recommend tank tops or shorts either. All in all, it was a great experience BUT be prepared with plenty of water as well. As you advance through the course you will continue to be further up in the trees. Guides are a great help also. Bravo to those who have completed the entire adult course. You rock!!

What an amazing day. I'm beyond scared of heights but our team of guides made sure we knew all the safety details and if I couldn't go on how to call them to help me down...which I'm excited to say I didn't need to do. My kids had the time of their life laughing at me in the beginning, but at the end they cheered me on as I flew over the zip lines. Thanks to the great team of folks who made this experience incredible for us.

My group and I had such a good time up here. Our guides were Wyatt and I think Hunter (could definitely be wrong about his name) and they were both fabulous. Very personable and helpful throughout the whole course. Made all of us feel at ease and like we weren’t alone or dumb when we struggled on the ladders. Even the member of our group who’s scared of heights felt comfortable after the first couple. Would love to come again!

Phenomenal experience! My family had a wonderful time. The adventure course was challenging and pushed us in a good way. We never felt rushed/pushed to complete a challenge. And you can go as far as you like through the progressively difficult course. The guides were so supportive and encouraging and super patientand which made our experience fantastic! We always felt safe and secure and the guides gave us a great fun and safety briefing. The guides were absolutely wonderful! Marie, Abby, Wyatt, Ryan and Ethan made the experience one we won’t forget.
This state park preserves the historic estate of lumber barons Timothy and Michael Riordan, who built the mansion in 1904. The property today includes a museum with art nouveau touches, as well as tours of the mansion itself.
Really cute museum mansion with wonderful grounds. We only had time to do the self-guided, outside tour, but plan on coming back to do the inside guided tour. Prices are $2 to enter the grounds and up to $10 for the guided tour, per person. Plan to spend about an hour and a half to two hours here with the tour, less without. Highly recommend as this is a really beautiful place.

This is a super cool place! All the pictures are just from the outside of Riordan Mansion. The Park Service staff were incredibly nice to me and my girls. They loaned us umbrellas to walk the property and gave us a map detailing each of the different points of interest. I would highly recommend coming here for the entire family. This place is a historic gem in the center of town!

The rangers at the historic mansion were wonderful and very, very knowledgeable. We loved the tour and loved the tour guide gentleman as he told us all kinds of interesting tidbits about the mansion and answered all of our queries. The fact that it was snowing that morning was just icing on the cake.

Super cute state park. Rangers really take pride in this place. Nice gem among a college campus. Great piece of history. You can walk the property for free or pay a few bucks for a tour. All of it is great if you have the time. They take great care of the property. Thanks Ranger Shannon B.

My young children were WAY more interested in the guided tour than I thought they'd be. They were asking so many questions! So, I would say this place is a great opportunity to teach your kiddos about some history. The tour guide even stayed 20 minutes late to continue answering questions. The tour guide was fabulous and so was the rest of the staff. Amazing Flagstaff gem that holds so much of Flagstaff's history - a definite must do.

We visited Riordan Mansion State Historic Park whilst visiting Flagstaff for a few days from the UK. Parking was easy and staff were very friendly. The Mansion is well worth seeing. Our tour guide, Brendan, was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about its history and that of the family. He was able to answer questions from the group he was taking around the mansion and had plenty of anecdotes. This is a must see in Flagstaff. Thanks Brendan, you brought it to life.

I've been to the Riordan Mansion several times and have always had a good experience. The mansion is one of my favorite historical sites. Growing up I always loved the mansion and the idea of building a home that was connected with that of my families. The staff are great and knowledgeable, and the tour is very enjoyable.

We had, in David, a seriously knowledgeable person on the mansion and the Riordans for our tour, This is a state historical park. How the Riordans played a part in the milling and forestry industry, their art awareness, and fairness to workers made me appreciate their legacy more. The home is immaculate and amazing. This is a must-see if you are at all interested in the history of Northern Arizona.

The Riordan Mansion was well worth the stop on our trip! I would highly recommend doing the tour of the inside. It’s cheap and well worth it. Our docent was super knowledgeable and there’s a lot to see inside. It was also fun to walk around the grounds. It’s a perfect way to kill 2 hours!
Dan Reamer — Google review
$2 for the self-guided tour and $12 for the guided tour which allows you to go inside the mansion. It seems like the guided tour is scheduled every hour and accepted a certain amount of people. Staff are friendly. The landscape and the mansion are beautiful and very well maintained.

We had never heard of this place, but had some time to kill before checkin at our hotel, so we found the entrance (it's behind where we expected!) and went in, deciding to pay for the guided tour. Definitely worth it -- the history was fascinating, and our tour guide was very knowledgable.
There were only four of us on the tour, so Charlotte was able to answer all our questions and let us know everything about both houses, who had lived there and why some things were changed and others are pretty much the same as when the family left it.
Kathy Coleman — Google review
We really enjoyed our time here! We did the tour and spent almost two hours total with the tour and looking at exhibits. Tours start on the hour. Our tour guide was Kira and she was amazing. Easy to understand, excited about the info, seemed to love her job, and she could answer all our questions. Everything on the grounds and in the house is very well taken care of. Worth the time and price of admission.
Located in Flagstaff, AZ, Mother Road Brewing Company is a highly respected craft brewery that produces a wide range of high quality beers. Known for its Tower Station IPA, the brewery also experiments with new recipes regularly. A favorite spot for locals and tourists alike, Mother Road Brewing Company is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to sample some of the best craft beers in Arizona.
In town visiting and what better way to get to know the area then the states number 1 rated IPA and brewery at Mother Road. Starting off all the staff were superb and always asking if we needed anything and checking on the patrons. Second there’s plenty of room to spread out. They do get busy but they have a large covered taproom with booths and a smaller covered outer building but the outdoor patio boasts has more than enough capacity to really enjoy those nice weather days. All the beers were great we especially enjoyed the Tower Station Triple Dry Hopped, Conserve & Protect Golden Ale, Road To Hana NEIPA and the favorite goes to the Daily Driver Juicy Pale Ale. Also utilizing a small food truck for when your hunger kicks in or want a snack it was a perfect combo. We stopped by here twice on our trip if that doesn’t spell good brews I don’t know what does. Great location and more than happy to see them next go around. Best brews in the area bar none!!! Cheers!!

This place is spectacular!
The staff here is insanely helpful and even more insanely friendly. Having conversations with them, you know that they know their beer, which is nice. Too many times have I tried to have a conversation with someone about beer and been left wanting and trying to figure out why people that work at a brewery don't want to actually talk about beer.
The beers are excellent! And absolutely worth driving here from wherever you are! Pretty sure I will never drive through Arizona and not plan on coming back here. And I don't care what direction I'm trying to drive through Arizona, it is worth the detour.
Cheers!

Fantastic outdoor and indoor space. Heat lamps and fire pits mean this is great even in cold weather. The food offering is comfort food (pretzel bites, Mac and cheese sticks, etc) so it's not healthy but it's very tasty. Super nice and welcoming staff.

Had to stop here after having a tower station ipa last year. What a cool place and only 1,060 miles from home. Tried a few different beers and they were just as good as tower station. The Mac and cheese bites were really good with the beer. This place is right there with historic brewing co. Great beer and friendly people. Will be a definite stop for us every time we’re in town.

I absolutely love Mother Road Brewing, I’m so glad I was able to visit. When I first tried Tower Station it was only found on a few taps at a few restaurants in the Phoenix metro area so I called the owner and asked where on earth I could find this awesome IPA in more stores of course he insisted I visit the brewery when I get a chance but I just could never make it up north, since then it has been distributed properly in almost every major grocery/liquor store in Phoenix, Mesa Tempe and Gilbert etc… I see it everywhere now ❤️ I was a fan ever since I took my first sip.
Needless to say, I’ve been trying to find the perfect time to visit for many years. Finally on the last day of our family summer vacation I was able to check a box off the bucket list! 🍻 the experience here was so much fun. We played a board game and enjoyed some quality time before heading over to Fratellis Pizza 🍕

Are these the WORLD’S BEST tater-tots??? Just a wonderful lunch spot on a beautiful day with covered outdoor seating. Food is delicious and filling, served quick and without frills. Large beer selection as well as other beverages - from kombucha to root beer. The blackened fish tacos was our favorite dish. If no one gets an entree that comes with tater-tots then you MUST order a side of em! They were perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy!
Stephan Miller — Google review
Really fun atmosphere with indoor and outdoor patio seating, family and dog friendly. About a dozen craft beers between core and limited brews from lager to IPA and hefeweizen. The beer has good flavor, more on the hoppy side with floral notes. The pretzel bites are addictive, and everything seems to come with tater tots instead of fries. The chicken sliders are crispy and come with your choice of sauce. The fish tacos are cooked perfectly, but the sweet corn throws off the citrus flavor.
The Flagstaff Visitor Center offers information on the surrounding area and access to tourist attractions like the Grand Canyon. It's also a place to purchase souvenirs and get insider travel tips.

Utilizing the Flixbus for the first time ever! Getting out of town with 2 of my children. It's an experience like Greyhound except we didn't sit in our assigned seats, people just sat where they wanted to. We ended up way in the back end. As long as we get to our destination I suppose. Comfortable seats so far! Cruising down 117 and kicking back. I'm glad nobody hasn't gone to utilize the accommodations yet. 🤣🤣 We had to wait awhile, bus leaves at 320pm. Very cool. This is attached to the Amtrak station and if you stop here, I recommend catching a later train in just enjoying the city. Start with the visited center located in the Amtrak building. They have a lot of cool knickknacks for sale, as well as some local artist stickers and shirts. If you like trains, they do too lol. I loved the toy train riding around on the ceiling and the tiny detailed model.
The downtown is literally right on the other side of the track. You can find thrift, stores, outfitters, stores, bars, and restaurants galore. Downtown Flagstaff is definitely walkable even better on a bike. I recommend letting this visitor center be your starting point to experiencing the city

Right in the beginning of historic downtown. Lots of local maps and walking tour guides. Two large rooms of gifts and souvenirs... with of course fun route 66 gear. The ladies working were very friendly and helpful.
I love the visitors center! It's always my first stop to check out fun Route 66 souvenirs and maps. It's a great place to learn about the towns history. I grew up in a train town, so I find the sounds of the constant trains passing through to be relaxing. From the visitor's center it's a quick walk into town or to a nearby yummy eatery. We walked to Beaver Street Brewery for lunch and then their sister spot across the street at Lumberyard Brewing.

Buffalo Park is a public park in Flagstaff, Arizona that offers beautiful views of the San Francisco Peaks and a 2-mile hiking loop trail. The park is also home to wildlife, an activity challenge course, and picnicking space.
This is my favorite place in Flag for many reasons!! Many trails to explore, elk and deer grazing if you get lucky, beautiful flowers if you hit it right and our last trip we got a snow capped mountain. What more can you ask for? There are restrooms and exercise equipment stations around the trail. It's a lovely place to bring the family and just be with nature for awhile..

Several intersecting trails that can accommodate all-terrain wheelchairs, bikes, toddlers, elderly, and those that have walked miles or just from the living room to the couch.
I stayed at an Airbnb .5 mile nearby and didn't have any use for the car. A safe location for singletons, groups or teens. The trails are flat and wide with spaciousness of the meadows. A 360° surrounding views of mountains, trees, and fresh crisp air.
Because the trails can be confusing you may walk longer than your goal but no stress on the body. Well kept, super clean, clear marching signs throughout the park. Be kind to nature and leave it better than you arrived.

This park is gorgeous! We went twice while on vacation. The first time, we just went in the parking lot to use our telescope for stargazing. It was beautiful and a perfect spot. We also saw about 5 deer just outside the lot as we were leaving. The second time was before sunset. We did the loop which is flat and wide. Anyone could do this trail. The scenery is gorgeous. We also took the trail behind the park that goes through old lava flow. We went all the way down to an open valley like area and stopped since it was almost sunset but could have climbed the other side and kept going. Easy hike and so pretty and easy to get to. Highly recommend!

Went there for my kids race. Beautiful 2 mile trail if you want a flat to small hill experience. Great for mountain bikes runners joggers and pets. Make sure you check schedules because if there is an event there, you will not find parking. You can park down the hill at Coconino High school and walk the Arizona trail up to Buffalo Park. They have bathrooms. And when there are events they have Porta potty‘s. Not sure if the Porta potty‘s are there year-round. We went to play in the snow and go sledding. There are better parks in flagstaff to do these things. Seemed like this park is better for cross-country skiing as we saw many people doing so. However, there are a couple of good hills to sled on. As you walk in, you'll see a covered seating area just go left from there.

Wonderful little museum! Plan on minimum 1 hour if you just scan thru, 2 hours if you're really interested in the facts because every square inch of the walls and then some is covered with artifacts and information! The 158th has been helping Arizona and the world since before Arizona was a state! The volunteers were both encyclopedias of info, and both had roots with the fort. Wonderful bits from battling natives and establishing a new culture to Afghanistan is covered in these two buildings, GREAT for the history buffs!!!!!

Great ramada and tree covered area. We had 60 people and had plenty of room. The area next to the ramada had a horseshoe pit, as well as open areas that we used for corn hole, yarts, and frisbees. They also had a basketball court. Area was clean when we got there. Electricity was locked up, but we didn't need it. There was a porta-john in the parking lot...not great but there when it was needed. Clean inside. Lots of parking. I liked the fact that there were recycle bins as well as plenty of trash containers. Nice big tables....6 of them that seated 6 to 8 people comfortably. We will use this location again. Friendly staff who helped if needed, but not in our way.
