Van Sickle Bi-State Park is a 725 acre park located on the California Nevada border. The park is known for its stunning views of the Sierra Nevada and has hiking and equestrian trails as well as historic buildings.
We just did the short hike to the overlook. The view is stunning!
It's not crowded, there are plenty of parking spots!
I would recommend to do it in the morning.

My dog and I hiked to the waterfall and back in early July. The fall isn’t very big but there’s a little area where dogs can cool down without risk of injury. My big dog plopped right down and was joined by several others! We turned back but it looks like the hike continues on.
The view is gorgeous. I stopped at the first vista which was marked on the trail. I stood on the boulders and looked at the lake. Breathtaking!
The trail was sandy and relatively easy to navigate. I’m 55 and fit, it might be harder for those who have knee issues. It was about 40 minutes each way with a 600’ elevation gain. Every now and then there were small boulder “steps”, hence the knee issue comment. This is a great hike for families and dogs. No gravel or painful rocky terrain.
The views upon the return were phenomenal.

Nice easy hike up to the bridge a little water fall. Stop and hit the “Vista” on the way up. The way down has great views. Hour and a half Round trip easy. Highly recommend!

Amazing view on the way up to the waterfall. Large, well maintained trail that is great for any age. Waterfall 1.25 mile from trailhead. Maybe saw 10 people on the walk. Date Oct 4th 2023

Van Sickle Bi-State Park is a great State Park to visit in South Lake Tahoe with a few miles of trails and amazing viewing of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountain ranges. There are a few trails in the park with a few viewpoints, a historical barn and cabins, and even a small waterfall. Highly recommend visiting and hiking if in South Lake Tahoe.

Great wilderness hiking experience close to the urban areas. Improvements needed in trail markers. It was not clear which trail was which. Fortunately, Google maps helped us find our way. Also. The restrooms at by the buildings had no toilet paper and appeared to have not been cleaned in a while. More attention to these things would then rate 5 stars instead of 4. The hiking was excellent and we really enjoyed it.

I liked hiking here a lot. My biggest problem was that the trails weren't particularly well marked, but otherwise it was very beautiful. We got some amazing photos of lake Tahoe, so that was a plus. It got really cold later in the day even though it was a warmer day, so I recommend packing warm clothes.

Its a long hike. It took us 4 hours both ways. If possible start your hike early in the morning on summer. It can easily get hot by 9am. Bring water especially if you have kids with you. You can see awsome views of the lake while on the trail. There are few brooks also that offer fresh water for your dog if you bring them on the trail.

This park is absolutely beautiful. We hiked the Barn Trail to the Cal-Nev Loop. It's about 2.5 miles. The sights are amazing throughout, but especially during the second half. The sad part is still seeing signs from a 2002 wildfire, but it's a lesson to teach for generations to come.
This park also runs right alongside the Heavenly Gondola so you will see and hear it a bit during the start of the hike. We hiked it at around 8am and it was quiet, but on our way back around 10am it was getting a lot more crowded.

Great park for hiking with beautiful views of the lake behind a veil of trees. Easily accessible from South Lake. Well established trails, simple to navigate, and awesome sets of boulders throughout. Definitely worth checking out and going back often.

Really beautiful park, a great view and a really nice hike
Tallac Historic Site is a seasonal attraction that showcases two historic homes and offers tours, exhibits, events, and costumed interpreters. The site is also known for its beautiful beach with ample space for dogs. While the beach itself is clean, visitors are advised to wear sandals due to the presence of wood in the sand.
We had a great experience here. Nice beach, lots of great space for dogs. The beach itself is clean, but be sure to wear some sort of sandal - lots of wood in the sand.

This place is truly a hidden gem in South Lake Tahoe. The grounds are beautifully kept and house three estates with some really interesting history. I have been going to Tahoe my whole life and had never visited here before. I'm so glad we did. The only downside is that there is pretty limited parking, but otherwise you will not be disappointed.

Such a beautiful place! It was closed when we went but we were able to still walk around the buildings and the beaches. Can't imagine how beautiful it is when open and events are going on. Can see this being a great place for a wedding or engagement or graduation photos!

The Tallac Historic Site is an amazing place to visit in SouthWest Lake Tahoe. The area is part of the national forest and is on federal land so it is free to access. The historic buildings are beautiful and located just feet away from Lake Tahoe. It is an enjoyable area to walk around with plenty of trails and public beaches to access. Great place to spend a few hours or half a day at.

We stopped here during our day trip to Lake Tahoe and I’m really glad we did! It appears closed on google maps but you can still walk down and access the site. The walk down from the street is only 7 or so minutes, it took a little longer because of snow. For that reason I’d recommend boots. The historic buildings are in excellent condition and very beautiful. You can also walk down to the lake shore and walk on the beach and take in the beautiful view. There are plenty of placards to read about the family that owned the estate. This is a good little trip for all ages!

Wow!! Even though we came and hiked here thou the grounds were unofficial closed, this place is True California Gold!! I marveled at the location and grounds. The cabins were Amazing to take in an ponder how beautiful this must have been in the early 1920's.
I recommend coming when the grounds are open and volunteers are present to give you a grander scope of this family's lifestyle and vision.
Don't miss out. Take a journey through lavish history. Cheers and GOD Bless!!

What a cool place to visit. The historic houses are so cool. It’s amazing what they would build over 100 years ago in a remote place. The grounds are clean and well taken care of. They do close all the museums at 4 so get there earlier to see the interior of the houses.

It's a wonderful site and estate. I am glad to see the contributions to conserve the site. It's beautifully maintained and sees more improvements to make it attractive for tourists. We met Ms. Anita, she was kind enough to explain all old fashioned toys which came from different countries. Thanks 🙏 to her for listening to little ones and engaging them.
We saw two bears 🐻 on that day, they were roaming around. Oh, we saw beautiful and naughty squirrels 🐿️, climbing on Ms. Anita's shoulder looks like asking her to offer a treat.

Trails are great and many shaded spots. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the water clarity is not as beautiful as other places in Tahoe.

Spent a few hours wandering around this historic site, learning about the developers of the area in bringing tourism to South Lake Tahoe, to the women who played a large role. Visited the museum within the "Lucky" Baldwin home, and the Pope home. There is a mostly shaded path between the back of the homes. The third home, Valhalla, was off limits due to a private event.
I especially loved how "Lucky's" daughter eventually razed the entire hotel to help protect the lake. Highly recommend. There were people who came just to sit in their lawn chairs along the shore as well.
The Pope home had specific hours for tours, so we were unable to enter the home.

A favorite place of mine! It allows beautiful views of Lake Tahoe while being able to take a look into how some lived over 100 years ago! Beautiful!
The Taylor Creek Visitor Center situated in South Lake Tahoe remains closed during this season, but visitors can still enjoy the available paths with nature surrounding them. The upgraded path features additional wooden boardwalks and is no longer submerged in water. The Forest Service did an excellent job with the addition, making it a family-friendly trail that allows dogs on a leash. With great trails leading to the beaches and Taylor Creek, visitors can park for free at the large parking lot provided.
It’s still cold in South Lake Tahoe, and the visitor center is still closed for the season. But, the paths are available to stroll. Since it is still technically closed, nature is everywhere; meaning trees and branches are down in spots on the path. They upgraded the path, in the last couple years; added additional wooden boardwalk on the path. In the past the path would be underwater in spots. Not the case, anymore. Forest Service did a great job with the addition. I adore this place. A must see during all four seasons to watch nature do it’s thing.

I have walked the rainbow trail for 40 years now. I took my kids when they were little, and it's always a great place to take company. They have made many changes over the years.
The stream profile was always the highlight. I was disappointed to see it closed and becoming dilapidated. Hopefully, that will be a priority for the forest service in the next few years.

Did the Rainbow loop. Very easy and crowded. It only took long because of the many stops to explore. Lots of salmon. We paid for Lake Tahoe parking for the day at one of the kiosk and kept the ticket in the front window. Recommend for an easy hike and handicap accessible.

Starting 6/18/21, they only open Fri-Sun 10-4pm. Plenty of parking, portable potty for now. You can walk from Visitor Center to Rainbow Trail or Taylor Creek (nice beach). It's a short walk.

Love love love the new areas of board walk that was built. Last year when we visited the beavers had made a dam that flooded the beginning of the trail. They did a wonderful job making a pathway over the area. It was beautiful.....though it's still a real shame that someone broke the glass to the steam profile chamber.

This is a great place to take anyone to experience Tahoe. The Salmon run is closed right now (June 2023), but still a great nature area and a dog friendly beach. We were there for Wild Tahoe Weekend since we are birds watchers, and had a great little day.

Taylor creek trail is not only a really nice trail to walk, but its educational, and beautiful. Icing on the cake is leashed dogs are allowed on the trail. There is plenty of aquatic wildlife to see along the boardwalk style trails overlooking the water & wetland, as well as birds. We even saw a small brown bear. The bear had zero interest in us or our dogs, and was more interested in getting away from people. There are lots of signs along the trail with info about the wildlife, history and ecosystem. The aquarium was closed, and appeared to be closed for a long time given it was not maintained. Hopefully it will re-open at some point. This is a great trail for families with children and photographers.

This is a lovely area for an easy walk. The viewing chamber was closed due to repairs needed because of vandalism, but the rest of the trail was nice. They've added a wooden walking bridge since I was there last, I think for conservation and because of unstable swampy ground. I enjoyed it very much.

Very beautiful view. The salmon are flashing by, and the scenery is just so peaceful. No food or water on the trail! Some of the grasslands are actually marshes! Overall, this would be a really nice place to hang out for a picnic, if it wasn't for the food rule.

The beach Pope Beach is a quaint and secluded spot perfect for swimming, boating, cycling and picnics. This beach has dunes and pine trees that lend themselves to a peaceful environment, making it the perfect spot for a day of relaxation. There are also some lovely trails around for jogging and bicycling, making it an ideal spot for athletes of all levels. In addition to this, there are snack shacks with food options that include BBQs.
Lake Tahoe in summer, sunny days and snow still on the mountains. Pope Beach has public parking and is a popular family venue. We cycled to it so there was no charge. Cars are charged around ten dollars for entry. Clean toilets and picnic tables.
Miles of soft sand, clear but cold water, stunning views and the famous blue of Lake Tahoe. And families at play. And not at all crowded.
Being older and wiser, we chose not to swim. A few rugged young people did go in. We just spent easy hours enjoying the view and the cool breezes off the lake.
There are quite a few Canada geese, unafraid and looking cute and wanting to be fed. The bird life is interesting. A bald eagle cruising above us made my day.

Awesome place to go with family! It can get cold when it's windy but great place to bring kids or relax with your S.O. They also have a place to rent kayaks, picnic, play volleyball and you can paddle board. It also was $10 to get into the parking but it was right by the water and completely worth it! Sadly no dogs allowed other wise it would be 5 stars

With numerous beaches in the vicinity, choosing where to spend last Friday afternoon was a delightful dilemma. Opting for this spot proved rewarding, offering the choice of lounging beneath the shade of numerous pine trees lining the beach, with scattered picnic benches, or laying a mat on the soft, smooth sand under the gentle warmth of the sun (ideal for the somewhat unpredictable weather that day). Despite the sunshine, it remained surprisingly cold. We savored the moment, relaxing amidst the scenery, observing geese casually strolling along the sand, sometimes approaching beachgoers but mostly going about their business. Some beachgoers even set up tents and brought an array of drinks and food – quite enviable!
The sight of the clear blue-green water against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains was enchanting. Taking a swim in the lake, I noted the invigoratingly cool water temperature (truly cold). Kayak rentals adorned the beach, and the water was dotted with various vessels – kayaks, motorboats, and sailboats in the distance.
For those driving to the beach, there's a parking lot available with a $10 entrance fee. Once paid, you'll find ample parking right by the beach. If you opt not to pay, street parking is an alternative, but be prepared for a lengthy walk from the main road to the beach. I highly recommend the paid parking, especially if you have a considerable number of items to carry.
This review comes a bit late, reflecting on a visit to Lake Tahoe last summer. Despite the season, the weather remained remarkably chilly, and the water was refreshingly cold. The journey from the Bay Area was well worth it.
Nixon Caparas — Google review
A $10 charge per car when it's freaking freezing out is a bit nuts but I guess there's no flexibility with a government concessionaire. But the place was tidy, well kept, with absolutely perfect views of the lake and mountains. 20-30 degrees warmer and this place can't be beat.

This is the cleanest most beautiful golden beach I ever went to. The backdrop is simply amazing!
Entry fees is $10 for entire day, until 7 pm I believe, and includes Baldwin Beach and Meeks Bay. It's worth it to spend a day here just chilling, swimming, and doing water sports like kayaking. Charges are less than some other kayaking companies in Tahoe.
Sufficient parking on a weekday when we visited. Ducks are super friendly. Public toilets were cleaner than I expected.
Totally recommended!

Even getting here at 9:30am there was a line of cars to get in. Once there, though, we had a blast renting a kayak, picnicking, and spending the day on the beach. The shade from the pines was a plus so we didn't have to pack an umbrella, and there are plenty of restrooms all the way down the beach.

First time in life Tahoe and first time at Pope Beach. People were friendly, kind, took care of their own stuff and kept the beach clean. The water is amazingly clear and cool. The way the glacier silt has settled you can walk almost 100 yards straight out and only be just deep in water. Parking was easy. And there are clean restrooms just a few yards away from the beach. Pricing was just $10 a carload because it’s a state park. No dogs or trailers. Kayak and SUP rentals available. We would come back here again and again

On our honeymoon, my husband and I came here to rent our equipment prior to skiing Heavenly. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Reserved skis to pick up any time after 3pm the day before we ski. Got there at 4:00, and they said it’s busy and we have to get on a waitlist and they’ll text us in 30-40 minutes when it’s our turn. We had dinner reservations at 5, and assumed that booking the skis online meant we would be in and out in a few minutes. We planned every minute of the day meticulously, and this ruined our only chance to get our skis the day before since there would be no way we could make our dinner in time. We ended up just leaving without skis and picking them up from the California Lodge location the next morning (which had no wait at 8:45am and only took us a few minutes).
The rental company should have notified us of this wait so we could get in line via text message while we were driving here from the airport, but we were given no warning of this situation until we got to the shop.

After returning mine and my girlfriends rental equipment I was told that we did not return a snowboard and would be held liable for the loss of the board. After speaking with assistant manager Amanda she stated that sometimes items are lost but if they couldn’t find the board, once again, it would come out of my pocket. They do not provide a recipe of return or any way for the customer to prove that the items was returned. We spend the next two days stressed about this issue. After I called them to inquire about the lost board they said they found the board at another shop and never even apologized for the accusations that we stole the board. I would suggest another more organized rental shop, or at the very least make sure you ask for proof of return of rentals before leaving the store.

The Rubicon Trail offers picturesque views of a nearby lake, as well as ample shade from the surrounding trees. Reviews about this restaurant were promising, however the online menu doesn’t match the menu presented at the restaurant. As you can imagine, that was disappointing. Our server was pleasant but not attentive. Requests were ignored or forgotten. The food was served quickly. If the restaurant was presented as a beach snack shack, it would have been great. Since expectations were higher than that, the food fell short. The Beach House was very clean and had nice views of the beach. Overall disappointed with what was presented online and what we actually experienced.

We walked down to this restaurant when we were staying up the street at Harvey's because we wanted to eat on the water, and this place just happened to be close by. It's a very nice place, with respects to an outdoor dining establishment on the water. It encompasses the 'beach vibe' perfectly, not going over the top on elaborate amenities that take away from the Tahoe-esq aesthetics.
It's basically just a big patio. There are sun shades adorning the tables, but again, they add to the atmosphere rather than take away from it. You order your food from a window by the bar, and you get your drinks from the bar directly. I didn't mind the self-service aspect because it was busy, and I'm guessing the service would've been slower than me just ordering for the two of us on my own. The food was ready rather quickly, which also enhanced the experience, since we had other plans later.
We walked, thankfully, because parking is limited despite having a decent amount of spots. There's no real 'lined spots', people park all along the beach wall. There may have been a handicap post, but I'm not 100%. There's definitely handicap access, since the street runs on the same level as the restaurant (there's no curb).

After waiting 15 minutes, never getting to speak to anyone, Ieft.

I dined at this restaurant while I was on a work trip. After a long day, I wanted something close to my hotel and this was within walking distance. This restaurant has recently gotten new ownership, so the menu you find on google is not what you will find when you arrive, but that’s not a bad thing! I had the opportunity to talk to the owners and they will be adding lots of new items to the menu in the coming weeks that sounded incredible. I’m pretty basic, so tonight a cheeseburger and fries did it for me. The burger was delicious and you can’t beat the view.

Tahoe Trout Farm is a delightful fishing destination with accommodating and amiable personnel. Visitors are not required to bring their own equipment or possess a license, as the establishment provides everything necessary for an enjoyable experience. Patrons pay only for the fish they catch, which can be processed in several ways: donating to the Wildlife foundation or homeless individuals, vacuum packing it to take home, or having it cooked by local restaurants.
Wonderful experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. You don't need equipment or license. They have everything. You pay only for the caught fish. Our kid had a blast. If you don't have a facility to cook it, you have multiple options. You can donate fish to the Wildlife foundation. It is used to feed the bears during the rehab. You can donate the fish to feed the homeless. You can vacuum pack it to take back home. And best of all-you can take it to the local restaurant and they will cook it for you! We will be doing that.

Such a special place. All of the employees are kind and helpful, even if you have no clue what you are doing. My husband caught his first fish ever here. The experience did not disappoint. Upon arrival they talked us though the process and safety protocols. An employee came by as we were fishing and helped us to bait our hooks more efficiently. Upon catching our fish, we brought them up to the entrance and they helped us to take the hooks out. We paid $1 per fish to have them cleaned and gutted. They even shared tips on how to cook it. We each caught a fish, 2 total. It is was cheaper than a dinner out, and was delicious.

Super fun place where you are guaranteed to catch fish. Owners Jackie and Jim do a great job of making everyone feel welcome. Get to know Jim, he has a lot of great stories to tell. I highly recommend Tahoe Trout Farm!

I never knew this trout farm was so easy to get to. This is a great place to try fishing as a family. No need to rent a boat, buy a fishing license, bait, or gear. Fees are modest, especially for what you get. Catching a fish is almost guaranteed. Crew is friendly and helpful. They'll even clean and pack your fish on ice. Views of trees and mountains are lovely.
High likelihood we'll be back with family and friends.

We were there for about 1 hour, not very crowded. It was really fun for my son, who is trying to learn how to fish. Great customer service. Large fish.

My 9 y.o. son loved it! Great time for all. The owners shared that the trout came from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and were raised on krill. After harvesting your fish, you can choose to clean/have them cleaned, then take them home vacuum sealed, have them cooked for you at a local restaurant, or donate them to baby orphan bears or people experiencing homelessness.

I took my 6 year old here and he had the best time, as did I! The owners are so generous with their time. One of them showed my son how to clean a fish and he was very delighted. We will be back next year!

Fun for adults too! My husband and I took a short trip to Tahoe and didn't want to spend the whole day on a charter. This was an entertaining solution!
On our first day, we dropped by to make sure they were open (May 1st).
We spent over an hour chatting with the owner, Jim, learning about the farm and swapping fishing stories. We went back to fish up our dinner the next day. We caught two gorgeous 16 inch trout in less than 20 minutes! You pay for what you catch, so be careful you don't get in over your head. If you decide not to eat the fish, they have several donation options! They have a whopper pond with some massive beauties too!
Jim provides information on local attractions and places where you can take your catch to be cooked. All of the staff are super friendly and they let you get the whole hands-on experience. This was a wonderful experience, and we will be back on our next trip to Tahoe!

It's a great way to spend an afternoon. The fishing poles are super easy to use, no skill required at all. The trout are very easy to catch. They really have nowhere to go. They will teach you to clean the fish or clean the fish for you. My boys enjoyed learning to clean the fish. They will pack your fish on ice. The owner recommends a restaurant where you can take your fish to be cooked for lunch. Not a lot of shade so bring a hat. Everything's free except for the price of the fish. We caught 3 medium size trout and we paid about 60 bucks I think out the door. It's great activity for kids or people that have never done fishing. My kids loved it.

Just show up and you will leave with fish! They have all the gear and will clean and package your fish if you want. Good times!

Marcus Ashley Gallery showcases a vast array of North American art, including oil paintings, glass art, prints and sculpture. The gallery is known for its Dr. Seuss exhibit and offers an amazing variety of items such as oil paintings, limited edition prints, bronze sculptures, glass art, metal art and books.
We have now acquired 6 pieces of art from Lisa Taggart and have always been treated like royalty even with our modest budget. Tiffany is the master of finding the perfect frame for your chosen works. The pieces arrive packed like they could take a direct hit from a nuke. Love this gallery! We even face timed with one of the artists we were considering. So cool!!!

I've been to a number of galleries around the US, and this gem is definitely one of my favorites as of today. All of the art on display was incredible, better than many of the renowned fancy-pants ones I've been to. The staff was also very friendly, and happy to share the stories of any piece we looked at. I never would have guessed from outside of the storefront what they had inside. 10/10 would recommend.

Very good venue when I went that included several famous artist pieces for sale. Snacks and drinks were provided and many very unique incredible pieces, some of which are originals. Highly recommend at least checking out their lineups at least once. They do change week to week however.

We met a wonderful woman named Brenda who is a sales person in this gallery. I highly recommend her and the gallery. Brenda brought the art and the artists to life. It was one of my most treasured moments. I paint, certainly not on the caliber to be in a gallery but I know how to appreciate how much effort goes into the art. So many thank yous to this wonderful gallery and to Brenda.

We hadn’t been there five minutes and actually landed on a piece that I’d entertain buying before being ushered into a different room, with a piece I wasn’t interested in to be told the vast history about (which was interesting and well executed) and then pressured/expected to purchase. Honestly if I had been given the opportunity to walk the whole gallery I very likely would have bought a sculpture I was eyeballing in the back, but I never got to see it as I wanted to leave immediately after that awkward exchange. Let your potential clients pick out what they want to spend thousands of dollars on. I think there is some cool stuff there… but I won’t be going back.

My daughter and I stumbled upon this gallery after skiing and the whole experience became one of the highlights of our trip. Boyde was phenomenal in guiding us thru the gallery with his extensive and entertaining knowledge of each of the artist’s works. We were blown away with the stories behind “Dr Seuss” and really connected with a couple of his pieces. Now my daughter and I will have something to remember as such a surreal moment of our trip.

The staff here are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It wasn't like touring a normal gallery, it was like hanging out and shopping with old friends. The selection of artwork was broad and beautiful. We will make a trip to Tahoe just to pick out some works and visit again

And not just SEUSS...many other artists to boot too! Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff, roomy environment and great location.

Mary was extremely informative about the artists. She was great with the kids and even gave us the book "Horton Hears a Who".
She was kind and answered every question the kids had and us adults as well. The gallery itself was well lit and clean. Sculptures and artwork were free of dust. The Dr. Suess portion was AMAZING! My kids ages are, 21, 13, 11, 8, 7, 6 and she kept them intrigued the whole time.

We visited this gallery on a trip to Tahoe, clearly not in the disposition to buy artwork. But the staff was SO friendly and SO willing to answer all of our questions about the different artists, their techniques, and details about the pieces that we would have missed. The ice skating rink South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena is a great place to go if you want to try something new. It's affordable and has helpful staff for beginners.
I haven't been to any other ice arena to compare.
But the staffs are nice and helpful.
When we went there, there were a lot of those training holders that you can use WITHOUT extra cost. So I guess that's a plus.

The customer service was great! Unfortunately the rental skates were NOT very comfortable. There was absolutely no padding inside the skates so I recommend that you bring a few pairs of socks to wear. Just rent skates that are a size or two bigger. We arrived at 215pm on Saturday March 20th, and could skate until 430pm. Not sure how often they smooth the ice out with the Zambezi, because the ice was in horrible shape at 230pm. There weren't a lot of people skating, approximately 25 or so, mostly younger kids, who looked to be somewhere around 7 to 13 years old. I was disappointed that the ice was so choppy, made it a little more difficult to skate. I went around four times and my Beau called it quits after only one. We sure didn't get our $17 dollars (EACH) worth for sure! But hey, I haven't skated on ice in 25 years, so this 57 year old was happy that she could still do it, although at much slower pace lol! So, go enjoy yourself!

We went today (Sunday) for public skate and it was pretty quiet for the most part. There was a birthday party going on, and they had the helpers out. The kids were flipping them over, sitting on them pushing each other. One of the kids pushed a kid right into me while I was holding my daughters hand skating. I did get my arm cut from her skate a little as a result. The parents really need to supervise their children better, as well as the employees. Luckily this situation was mild but it could’ve ended a lot worse with more blood and injuries. We did bring our own skates but were told that they weren’t sharpening skates at this time. They did welcome us to use our own skates. Inside they do have a sign showing the public skate time however it was not accurate but looking at their site was accurate. The rink was a cute size and prices weren’t horrible. My daughter did have fun as well and we will be back. I do hope that they supervise the ice better in the future.

My 5 year old had an absolute blast here for public skate. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. It's a bit chilly in the arena (duh, it's a big area of ice) so make sure to dress accordingly, although I was surprised (and delighted) to find that they had heaters in the stands. 🙌
Heather N — Google review
Huge ice arena compared to Heavenly Village; for the same entry cost I definitely recommend to go here instead. There were very few people when we were ice skating (midweek), and we had so much space open.
The boot rentals aren’t very high quality and are very worn out, but you can easily get a replacement from the front desk. Opening hours could be improved and expanded, but they should work just fine for anyone who has a free afternoon.
Odin — Google review
Great option on a stormy or rainy day! Big ice rink. The blue rental skates are really uncomfortable, get the lace up ones instead or bring your own which saves 4 dollars.
Obi Felten — Google review
This is a great venue for hockey and ice rink activities.
This place is small and seating is great, although the benches aren't super comfortable so I would recommend bringing a pad to sit on.
There are tables and chairs for additional seating options but you don't get as good of view. You can however stand behind the goals on either end, which is a nice vantage point for watching shots on goal.
The bathrooms are nice and clean, with enough stalls to limit long lines.
Parking is easy and there are ample spaces.
The one downside to this venue is the service you get at the food and beverage counter. The kids working the counter were horrible at their jobs and were nearly useless when they were asked information about the food offerings and drinks. They couldn't bother to check their inventory for guests or provide adequate responses.
The food offerings are limited and sub-par, but that is to be expected at a small sports venue like the Tahoe Ice Arena. Pizza, pretzels, tater tots and a few other things grace the small menu here.
There was Modelo, Cutwaters, High Noon, and one other beer option in regards to alcohol.
I didn't experience any security at my last visit and the ticketing staff was very kind and welcoming.
It is absolutely possible to bring in your own food and alcohol so as to enjoy the venue as best you can.
I would have given this review 5 stars if the food and beverage counter wasn't such an embarrassment.

I used to skate here as a kid and now have had the chance to start bringing my own kiddos. We love coming here and my kids are always asking to go. The staff are all very friendly. The reason I only give 4 stars is the price- it gets expensive quick. For my family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) one visit costs us $60. If we bring our own skates it only lowers the cost to $52. ($20 per adult or $16 with own skates, kids are $10). With that, it’s not something you can really go and do multiple times a week because it’s hard to justify the price. They do not offer local discounts or memberships.

We had rented the ice-skating table area for a birthday party, while the kids had a great time ice-skating, so five stars for that, it was a horrid time at the table area. So we paid $130 for a non-private party, no plates, napkins, cups or silverware! When I asked the lady upfront what all comes with the package, because I was a little confused. She told me that they don’t provide anything and that she’s not sure what I’m expecting! I already had the kids on the rink. I didn’t wanna make a huge scene but I was upset at her nastiness and the fact that I paid that kind of money to literally just sit there, the kids had to eat cake with their hands! Plus if I would’ve been more prepared if they had let us know that nothing comes in the package. I think it was just the way I was spoken to on top of the price that was insane. I tried to call the manager, I did speak to a really nice lady name Lynell, but they refused to refund me the party space because they don’t provide anything and that was never an agreement. So I think ice-skating is great and the kids had a great time but I implore people do not rent the party area because they don’t explain anything to you and they take your money and then let you know that you’re on your own. So thanks so much ice rink!

Where I first learned to ice skate as a kid and the only place I have ice skated ever in my life lol I now live in Arizona and it's way to Hot out here and you tend not to even think about ice skating or anything like that which is not Very intelligent thinking if you ask me 🤔 they need to have more opportunities for winter type sports like ice hockey and ice skating in every state in America, it seems that you only see those type of sports in Cold States like Minnesota and Montana and those kind of states and that's not cool or fair to the sport or to the kids that want to play or learn it

Thomas F. Regan Memorial City Beach is a popular public beach in South Lake Tahoe, California. It has a shallow swimming area and stunning views of the lake. The beach is often used for weddings, with a playground and a seasonal restaurant nearby.
During my recent trip to Lake Tahoe, my family and I were searching for a place to put our feet in the water after we left Lakeside beach due to the high entry fee. That's when we came across Thomas F. Regan Memorial City Beach. There isn't a crazy fee here, and it served its purpose for us. There isn't too much of a beach area, but there are parts where you can swim or put your feet in the water. It felt good to feel the sand and be in the water. There are some good walking areas here as well. A playground for the kids, too. We also encountered some friendly people. I'm happy we came here.

We visited during the winter, so this review will only be for the Wintertime. This beach was a fun little snow area that you can bring a little toboggan or sled and slide down the hills. Some kids were on the swings, even though there was a good amount of snow. The beach was absolutely beautiful though, and I’m sure it’s just as beautiful during the summer. Looks like it has benches for seating, a good beach area and concrete walkways from what we could tell.

This is the most beautiful place in Lake Tahoe. I highly recommend it if you wish for a park near lake side, spend some time on the grass while you gaze at the shore and the snow. Of course you can get into the water if you want a little more. It’s pet friendly too and I can guarantee everyone will have loads of fun !!

This beach was not crowded during a time when all of the other beaches in town were packed. This is probably because the water's edge is pretty gross with algae. But there is a lovely little park and free parking. It's also dog friendly, with both on and off leash areas, and there is a playground for kids. The big downside is the smell, like sewer. I couldn't tell if it was the algae or the public bathrooms, but moving upwind of the bathrooms seemed to help. Getting past the algae, the water is clear and nice as expected.

There is no beach area. There is a nice playground with swings and slides. The snack bar looks closed, although that might be for the season. We were there on a Saturday mid June and it was closed.
There is a volleyball sand court. Some grass area.

The most peaceful area in Lake Tahoe, also known as Regan Beach, we stayed for about 2 hours. It's not the best site for viewing the sunset, but we waited here after a long day to see the sun set in the

This is a kid-friendly beach with a playground. We adults enjoyed the
swing as well😅.
If you're looking for a picnic spot, this is the place to go for, there are picnic benches

One of the few stops in South Lake Tahoe that you can get public access to the lake. It seems that the whole lakefront in the city has been fenced off for private access. It's a terrible shame that such a pretty location has been overtaken by the wealthy and the won't even share the access to natural beauty, but choose to keep it to themselves

Wyland Galleries is an art gallery with a focus on the environment. The gallery has a unique approach to environmental conservation that makes it a great place to shop for beautiful pieces of art. The staff is highly knowledgeable and never pushy when it comes to purchasing artwork, which makes Wyland Galleries the perfect destination for anyone looking for quality art at a fair price.
Walking by and decided to stop in, shortly thereafter was greeted by Lloyd who was a very friendly guy and just started explaining some of the details of some of the art that we were looking at. A lot of yard galleries that I've gone to do not have anything unique and are way overpriced. Not the case here. High quality, unique pieces combined with woods very informative conversation made this short visit a highlight of my short visit to Tahoe this time around.

Not just work by Wyland, they have prints, bronzes, and other works from a number of high profile artists. Don't go in expecting gift shop prices of course, but even if you aren't in the market for a thousand dollar print, it's worthwhile just to go in and browse. They have some really beautiful pieces, and who knows? You might find something you just can't live without. The people there are friendly and eager to answer any questions about the works even if you aren't a serious buyer. If you've been to a Wyland gallery in another city, expect to see similar things.

Heavenly Mountain Resort is a vast and expansive resort located in South Lake Tahoe. It offers various activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and biking along with lodging and dining options. The resort can be easily accessed through the gondola located on Main Street with ample parking space available. Intermediate trails provide an excellent experience while the green ones can get crowded at times.
Heavenly is my favorite Tahoe ski resort, for the combination of terrain, access, and views. I don't love the California base, but the Boulder base and the Stagecoach base are easier to get up and down from. And Boulder has better parking. The lake views are the best, and it has a huge variety of terrain.

We loved it here!!!! Summer time but awesome. Rode the gondola to the top then a ski lift a bit higher. No zip lines for adults open so that was a bummer. Small hikes and some cheese burgers at the ski lodge and we had a great time. So beautiful.
Scott — Google review
What an incredible experience! Well worth the price for the gondola and Tamerak to the top of the mountain, while we would have loved to hike - with the trails closed this was much easier and quicker and the views are out of this world. Some tips: The gift shop when you stop for your photo opportunity has some of the best items you can’t get anywhere else, if you see something you want - buy it. Be mindful of time of day for lighting. All of the pics we took are weird because of shadows and we are squinting. We did the gem panning and while it was cool and well worth the money as our daughter came away with a very full bag, it wasn’t what we expected- it was just a bucket of sand. No real panning for a surprise of the maybe / maybe not. Those working also couldn’t help with what was found, just referred to the sheet. Not sure we would do it again, but happy to do it once.
However that was our only semi not perfect interaction; The people working from check in to leaving was wonderful - great customer service with no impatience everywhere. Very impressive!! Would for sure do this again.

I took my family of four on the Heavenly scenic gondola ride. We spent an absurd amount on tickets, about $350, which was due to seasonal demand. We went in March but I'm sure summer prices would be much less.
The view was really nice going up the mountain, but once we got above the clouds, it was hard to see much of the lake. We had a great time anyway, and I recommend trying it during the snow season at least once. Just try for a clear day to make it more worthwhile!

Heavenly has been in business since December 15, 1955 and has 97 runs and 30 lifts that are spread between California and Nevada and four base facilities. Elevation at the peak is over 10,000 feet.
I was very lucky to live and work very close to Heavenly. The views from the runs and gondola of Lake Tahoe are spectacular.
The are also trails in the off season.
They have a slope for everyone from beginners to experts. Even if you don’t ski take the ride up the slope for the views.
Lonnie McDonald — Google review
I recently visited Heavenly Mountain Resort and the gondola ride up the mountain was a standout experience. It was likely the longest ride I've taken in the United States, offering breathtaking views as we ascended.
Admittedly, the cost of the ride at $90 per person felt steep, especially since I didn't partake in skiing or snowboarding. I simply went up for the view on a beautiful sunny day. Despite the expense, I must say, the experience was worth it. The panoramic scenery was simply unmatched.
The gondola has two stations where one can stop. The mid-station is a marvel in itself. It's a picturesque spot with a pleasant little walkway, perfect for soaking in the natural beauty of the area. There's also a cafe where you can grab a coffee and some snacks, which adds to the charm of the stop.
From the mid-station, the gondola journey continues up to the top of the mountain. The restaurant and bar at the top are fantastic, offering great food and drinks along with stunning views. It's a cool place to relax and enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
One thing to note is that the ride back down doesn't stop at the mid-station, so it's best to be prepared for that. Overall, the Heavenly Mountain Resort gondola ride is a memorable experience, offering incredible views and a unique way to experience the mountain's beauty. Despite the price, it's an adventure that's well worth it.

Big resort. And the gondola access is located in the Main Street (walking distance from our hotel) with plenty of parking. Intermediate trials are great, but turns little icy in the afternoon. Green trials are too crowded.
Overall, Heavenly has better snow quality than Northstar, and more convenience location, more options for food and entertainments.

A bit on the pricey side but it has a beautiful view of the lake! Its $63 just for the gondola. There is a second stop with other activities like a mini roller coaster but you need to but that at heavenly village before going up. It is a little colder at the top but there’s a gift shop with sweaters if you get too cold. One other warning, if the weather is bad they’ll send you back to the bottom with no refund. Ticket is also only good for one trip.

Lots of terrain variety, great for intermediate skiers especially. The views of Lake Tahoe are amazing as well on trails like ridge run and skyline trail.
They have many high speed lifts although the queues can get quite long during busy weekends.

Rode the gondola! Great experience....wish we had time to hike around the top of the mountain before heading back down. Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe & being amongst the trees.

Went up to heavenly mountain resort for the 4th of July with my wife. She has never been to Lake Tahoe there was a huge fireworks show, and we rode the gondolas to the top of heavenly then rode the ski lifts up even higher now were on our way to the moaning caverns in Sacramento California.

I had a freak accident on my last run yesterday and ski patrol did an absolutely amazing job at helping me out. They were so professional, made me feel calm and got me down a very steep double black seamlessly. They also waited with me until my friends came. I really appreciate their help and for making me comfortable during a stressful situation 🫶

Beautiful place! The gondola ride up has amazing views. Super, super high.. so if you are scared of heights it’s going to be a long 2 mile ride up the mountain. The gondola does stop mid trek on occasion… actually stopped twice on us. It gets really windy up near the top of the mountain so when we were stopped mid climb it was a little sketch. Overall, great experience.

Absolutely breathtaking mountain! California Lodge has incredible views. Reliable grooming even in wild winter conditions. The trees are awesome, tallest I’ve seen thus far in my skiing journey. Tons of blues and blacks to choose from.

We went there to do some snow skiing and it was great. Maybe not as big as Breckenridge but very beautiful, and the altitude was lower, so that's always good. If you want some great views, you need to check this place out. Of course food on the mountain was very expensive but unfortunately that seems to be the norm no matter where you go.

The views are certainly Heavenly and the mountain has tons of groomed blue runs along with great black trails. Not much green so keep that in mind. What is frustrating is there are very few maps anywhere and the trials are not well marked. Otherwise a 5 star destination not to be missed

Steep prices but it's totally worth it! The views of the lake are incredible! First stop up is an observation deck that gives an awesome opporttunity for photos. Second stop will take you to the different slopes as welll as the mountain stop restaurant & bar.

Not a destination resort. 1 star only because the view was great on Ridge Run. Everything else was terrible. Wind hold put half of the lifts out of commission (it wasn't even windy). Causing bottlenecks EVERYWHERE (Canyons/Gunbarrel lifts).
Lifts themselves were old quads. For the amount of people, these should ALL be 6-seaters. Facilities mid-mountain were old/needing renovation too. Got 3 runs in the whole day.
