This expansive natural area provides a plant-filled park, a cascade region, and information on the history of Indigenous Hawaiians. In a single day, you can traverse this 100-mile route that includes visits to multiple beaches. However, if you wish to avoid feeling rushed, you may need to selectively choose activities such as hiking, exploring Waimea Valley, and experiencing the Polynesian Cultural Center.
This place is absolutely gorgeous, there is about 0.8 miles paved path up to a waterfall where one can swim. Life jackets are provided for free near the waterfall. It felt like a serene walk through nature and you learn about a lot of old Hawaiian culture. The pretty scenery makes this an excellent place for photos 😍

My wife and I visited the Waimea Valley botanical gardens back in mid-December. Although I don’t consider myself to be a person that is typically into flowers and plants, the botanical garden was stunningly beautiful and is a must see.
The hike through the gardens was great exercise and every few feet there was an amazing flower or tree that we stopped to read about and/or take pictures of. Each bloom was more beautiful than the next and we were blown away throughout our 45 minute journey. The trail leads to a nice waterfall where a number a folks were swimming in the pool at the base of the falls.
Also during our trip, there was a wedding taking place in a part of the garden which was such a picturesque setting. Overall the atmosphere was so serene and peaceful making this a very enjoyable experience for my wife and I. If you visit Oahu this botanical garden is definitely a must see.

This place is breathtakingly beautiful. Lots of trees and greenery that will shade you from the sun and it is a short walk to the falls. There are several huts that provide hands-on experience for visitors to learn the culture. There is a Cafe where you can buy drinks and a small souvenir shop. You can buy tickets online or at the ticket booth and we didn't pay for parking when we went there so I'm not sure if parking is usually free. The falls itself was beautiful and they provide swimming vests to those who want to swim. There is also a lifeguard on duty and she/he will tell you which areas to avoid swimming at. A huge canopy provides shade to those who just wants to sit and watch and not swim. Train/shuttle service is also provided for visitors who have difficulty walking to/from the falls. Overall, this is a must-see place when in Hawaii and definitely need to stop by when you're around the North Shore area. Very family friendly so it's great if you have kids.

This is probably the hike I would recommend to everyone at all skill levels. We have seen all age groups doing this hike, including people in wheelchairs. The main path is paved the entire way, and there is even a little shuttle that runs every 30 minutes for $10 a person. There is one slight grade that could prove challenging to people with walking issues, but other than that... it was beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Lots to see and do here! Be prepared to pay $25.00 per person if you want to see the falls. They do have a snack and cocktail bar available before you go in to the park. If you’re hungry or thirsty I’d recommend a stop at both before. Our bartender was very nice and attentive. You could tell he really liked working there. Lots people ordering from the snack bar and sitting at the outside tables. Know that since this is such a popular place parking can be a bit challenging. Patience is key when looking for a spot to park. Just know the once your parked you’re going to experience a whole lot of beauty!

This valley requires an entrance fee, but it is well-maintained, allowing for an easy and enjoyable hike. Along the way, there are recreations of ancient Hawaiian scenes that enhance the experience. The waterfall at the end of the trail changes shape depending on the water level, and swimming is possible when conditions allow. Equipment for swimming can be purchased or rented, and there are changing rooms available. With a lifeguard on duty, this is one of the rare places in Hawaii where you can swim in freshwater. The trees are well cared for and the paths are in excellent condition, making the ticket price well worth it for a wonderful valley experience.

A nice botanical garden full of exotic tropical plants. The place is trying to rebuild the ancient holy place with aboriginal buildings and so forth. Swimming at the waterfall pool is a plus. The only problem is the parking lot is really small, so you need to get there early to find one.

Absolutely breathtaking views of the valley and flora of the island. I must've stopped every few steps just to take a photo of all the flowers and plants and wildlife roaming the area. Without a doubt this my favorite stop during my vacation.
Everything growing is labeled so you know exactly what you're looking at. And believe me there is so much to see.
Also I loved the explanations from the guides at the Hawaiian village huts. I wanted to learn more about life for natives to the island and the guides were so friendly and knowledgeable. I must've had a million questions and they explained everything perfectly.
Please do not pass this place up! You can choose to walk or pay for a ride (cash only) but I promise you it's well worth exploring by walking.
They also have restrooms along the paths and heading towards the waterfall they offer changing rooms if you want to swim in the watering hole as well as a place to get water and food (accepts card and cash).

We came here as part of our tour and it was probably one of our favorite stops. Do yourself a favor and double whatever amount of time you are planning to spend. We could have done a half day to a full day easily. The hike was easy to do and only one slight incline. There are many things to stop and look at that you probably won't see anywhere else. It was not crowded when we went, but definitely a good amount of people. We did the hike first and then got something to eat as we did not bring any swim clothes. It was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. It was nice to enjoy the day and get away from it all.

This is a beautiful valley in which a fascinating botanical garden has been created. There are lots of fun little paths to wander off on to.
The waterfall is less than a mile to walk, but how much time it takes is determined by how many flowers you smell and paths you explore.
At the falls there is beautiful pool allowing one to swim under falls

Wonderful botanic garden and walk to the falls. Great views and tropical plants from all over the world. The best part is that most are identified by placards.

Waimea Valley is a jewel of nature. The botanical gardens are awe inspiring with hundreds of varieties of flora and fauna. The 0.7 mile hike to the waterfall is totally worth the effort. The majestic waterfall was in full flow. While swimming in the natural waterfall pool is usually allowed, it was closed today due to the weather. The visitor center has several food and drink options, a few shops featuring unique art work, exquisite pearls, and traditional gift items. The restrooms were clean. Parking can be a bit difficult especially during the peak holiday season. Plan to spend 2-3 hours here to allow ample time to soak in the beauty of nature.

Nice hike. So many pretty plants and flowers. The waterfall is decent size. The pool you can swim is really large. They have everyone wear life jackets that they provide. Life guard on duty as well. The hike is a paved path with some trails off the main path.

Great place to visit for a nice stroll through gardens with a waterfall and swimming hole at the end! Also educational with various cultural stations and informed staff throughout the gardens. You could easily get lost in the many trails throughout the gardens. The swimming hole has life guards on duty. Life vests are required (free to rent). Changing stations and bathrooms available too.

A really nice nature preserve where you can learn about Hawaiian culture, botany of around the world, and take a hike to see the waterfall. The waterfall may not always have water depending on the season but it is still a pretty nice hike! Had a great time and saw a lot of flowers!

Visiting here was one of the highlights of our trip.
When parking, make sure to drive by the first paid parking lot you see. This is parking for the beach. There is free parking for the valley past this.
For the valley itself, the path to the waterfall is paved and easy to walk on. I definitely recommend walking instead of taking the shuttle. At the end of the path is a small cafe, and also a free water refill station.
There is a change area right before the falls. Most people will simply make the trek in their bathing suit.
Swimming in the falls was an awesome experience and a great way to cool off. Life jackets are mandatory and are provided free of charge.
Definitely try to make a trip out here during your stay on Oahu!

We bring our visitors here whenever they come to the island. We come on Thursdays for Kama Aina free admission from 12:00 - 3:00. It is always a nice walk or ride $10 for those who can not or do not have the mobility to get to the falls. There is a lot to see if you branch off to the sides or upper trail to see the botanically. I recommend this walk for everyone. Very kid friendly and swim in the falls when you reach it.

This is a great thing to see if you are visiting North shore. There are also beaches nearby and the dole plantation as well. Beautiful scenery and you can swim next to the waterfall too. There is a gift shop, bar , restaurant and more. If you are a veteran make sure you have I'd for discount.

Had a great walk through nature to reach this beautiful waterfall. Reminded me of my younger years growing up in the Mississippi and walking and enjoying the natural environment. Had a great time with some family folks. Food was good too and reasonable.

Very good place but the entry ticket for 25 dollar is bit expensive. And no need to buy tram tickets which is 10 dollar each way. It's not that hard hike. Easily walkable .. 30 mins walk and 40 mins if you stop to click photos. So in that way you can save 20 dollars ,, otherwise the valley looks wonderful
Sharmili Roy — Google review
Easy walking road to the falls with a botanical garden along the way on both sides of the road. They also have a shuttle for those that need it. There are changing stalls, lockers, and life preservers by the falls so people can swim unless it is super rainy or super dry. The visitor center has food stalls and a farmers market. No fresh fruit though when I was there on a Thursday.
Aaron Newcomb — Google review
An easy hike for young and old, though they also offer $10 cart rides down and up from the falls. The valley also serves as a botanical garden as well as a sacred cultural site where you can learn about the significance of the area to the locals from the locals. A beautiful opportunity to learn!
There are restaurants and bars on site and they appear to host weddings as well. The gift shop is decently priced.
Restrooms are gendered stalls. There are several water bottle fill up stations along the trails, as well as several benches to be able to sit and rest along the way.
Morning looks to be best. The younger crowd seems to show up to swim later in the afternoon and things get rowdy. Also, do not swim if you have cuts anywhere on you as there are warnings of a waterborne illness that you can contact from the brackish water beneath the falls.

This place is heaven on earth! My breath was taken from the moment I drove into the park leading up to the parking lot and entry. As a gardener I was blown away with so much beauty. I love that all of the trees and plants have metal plates names displayed for you to learn. There is a paved pathway for ease of movement even if mobility impaired. Wheelchair friendly. They advertise 30 minutes to hike to the waterfall. I think it depends on how much you are stopping to look at the running brooks and green space along the way. You forget about time! I was experiencing a pinch nerve and literally didn’t think about it because there is so much to see that leaves your mouth open the entire time ! I’m 58 years old, a cancer survivor and jumping in the water fall was a bucket list. I did it and I canNOT even swim. They had three life guards and everyone had to wear a life jacket. That gave me the courage to jump into deep waters and fake swim (watch a jacket) to the fall. This was the best experience I had in my one week visit to Hawaii. Thank you God.

Beautiful experience to see and swim in a waterfall!
The hike is very easy for all ages, paved the entire way, and optional shuttles to take you up and down.
Optional paths with stairs if you would like to, but are not required to reach the falls.
Swimming entrance is a little rocky, so bring shoes to swim for a more comfortable experience - but don’t let it stop you!
Waimea Bay is a well-known beach on the North Shore with a beautiful sandy shoreline and clear, blue water. It is famous for its big waves and high-profile surfing competitions. The bay has a river mouth and is located in the Pacific. During the summer months, it is a popular destination for families as the waves are usually calm compared to their massive size in winter. The north side of the beach offers excellent snorkeling opportunities with vibrant coral reefs teeming with fish.
Love the Waimea Bay Area! The beach is one of the best for watching wave crash on the beach. Beautiful park area, lifeguards, and close to the beautiful Waimea valley botanical garden and waterfall! A great area in the north shore of Oahu!

Beautiful beach! Got here at 6am on a Monday with lots of parking available. Only downside is the water level is really low so lots of walking down to the water. Also, bathroom is dirty. 1 out of 4 stall had toilet paper, no hand soap and the stalls are narrow. Good thing, I read someone's review before coming and brought extra toilet roll and hand wipes.

Amazing little cove. Easiest snorkeling I could imagine. Plenty of fish. Water is shallow, deepest I found was 5ft. There can be some strong currents when waves break over the barrier rocks but otherwise very calm. Great for kids or anyone new to snorkeling.

Stunning beach and great spot to spend a day relaxing on the sand. The surf and waves were perfect and it was not crowded at all. Did a little snorkeling but mostly enjoyed the water. Parking was tough to find but it was worth it. Will definitely return to this beach when we come back to Oahu.

My favorite beach on Oahu. Only go during the summer if you want to swim as it's on North Shore and during the Winter you cannot swim. But during the summer it's such nice calm water. There is a rock jump off and I love snorkeling there.

One of my favorite spots of the island. If you get a chance to jump off the rock, face your fears and do it. Where else can you go where you can jump off a rock and swim to shore in a few strokes and relax on the beach

Waimea Bay is famous for its 30-foot waves in the winter and is a top place to watch some of the world’s best and bravest surfers. During summer, the water calms considerably and is a great destination for swimming, snorkeling and diving. There's fantastic sunsets here and a large rock that locals & tourists jump off of. The movie Point Break was also filmed here! #hawaii #beach #honolulu

Absolutely hands down the best beach we went to. We dove in 3 times to spend the day here and it was awesome!
We even got visited by wild sea turtles. There's a grocery store and food with in walking distance (a little over a mile) but still an adventure.
An absolute blast
Pro tip get there early if you want parking. Space is a premium unless you wanna park off a cliff lol

Laniakea Beach, also known as Turtle Beach, is a well-known destination on the North Shore of Hawaii. This scenic beach offers the chance to spot sea turtles sunning on the sand. Volunteers, called Honu Guardians, work tirelessly to protect these adorable reptiles by monitoring their slow movements and sometimes even roping off areas to keep beachgoers at a safe distance.
Awesome beach to see some sea turtles, unfortunately the water is not for swimming or kids, is really dangerous, with big waves!
We were there between 10 and 11 am and could saw the turtles leaving the ocean to the sand!
Always there is the volunteers to keep the turtles safe!

This beach is gorgeous. Watching the turtles in the surf is mesmerizing! It's crazy how long you can sit and watch them. The beach was pretty busy when we went but we did find parking pretty easily ad people were coming and going steadily. The drive is pretty and the views are worth the trip.

Beautiful beach, especially at sunset! We got to see many turtles swimming and eating off the rocks. Please, if you visit this beach, stay off the rocks (it is where the turtles food grows) and stay away from the turtles! This allows us all to enjoy the turtles for years to come.

TL;DR: sea turtles 11am-3pm. Good for stopping by, not staying. Small beach. WATCH YOUR STEP.
Great place to stop by and view sea turtles grazing on sea lettuce in the shallows or sunning themselves on the beach. Best to view between 11am and 3pm.
The sea turtles are protected by law. You have to be at least 10 feet away and no, you cannot touch them. So keep your grubby human hands to yourself. You see with your eyes, not your hands. There is also a fine for touching a sea turtle. Yup, someone went and ruined it for us all. So don't make it worse and make turtle viewing a banned thing too.
There is not much of a beach here at all. It's a small sandy area that immediately turns into smooth slippery rock filled with holes and toe jamming crevices. This is where the sea lettuce grows and where the turts hang.
Always be aware of your feet. The waves plus poor sea turtle-distracted-you can be caught by surprise while playing "turtle paparazzi" and you'll end up getting wet or hurt if you slip! I'll say it again: always be aware if your feet, especially while you creep towards a turtle while snapping a photo.
Parking: across the street from the beach. A two lane road splits the beach and the parking lot -- be mindful of peak hours, there can and WILL be a line of cars waiting along the road and backing up traffic. Bring some entertainment for the little ones because it can be a boring wait for that parking spot.

Such a good spot for seeing sea turtles 🐢 they are so beautiful. But if you go PLEASE keep your distance and be respectful. You could see them swimming in the waves and we were able to see two come on shore. We were there around 10 am, found street parking and the turtles were on the shore by 11.

We came around 10AM, climbed around on the rocks, and were able to see several turtles in the water near the shore. We stayed for a couple hours looking at the turtles and enjoying the scenery. The water was too cold and too rough to snorkel. We loved the time we spent there. We will come back the next time we are on Oahu.

Turtle Beach , you will definitely see turtles
I come around noon here , see 3 turtle outside on beach in the end where is rocks. You can see a lot of them on ocean swimming
You have parking across the street from the beach, or on the side of road
I’m not sure if is beach so perfect for swimming, but definitely need to visit if you want see turtles.
You have beautiful beach like 8-10 min from here (sunset beach )
You can bring own snorkeling equipment, and swim and see all turtles in ocean like 20-40 feet from beach .
DO NOT PAY +100$ for that tour online 😀 , just come here and do the same thing.

My life long dream to see turtles... has come true.
I'm a huge turtle lover and the moment I got there Kanoa climbed up! We got there around sunset. There was heavy traffic but plenty of space in the parking lot. Volunteers are there to protect the turtles and answer questions about them. You aren't allowed to go closer than 10ft to the turtles.
We stayed there a little under an hour. Seeing Kanoa is definitely a highlight of my Hawaii trip! I highly recommend making a visit even though its not guaranteed you'll see a turtle. It's worth a try!
Huge thanks to the volunteers who are dedicated to protect these sun bathing cuties!

I’ve been to the beach twice in the last 1.5 years. I’ve been able to find street parking both times. It’s never very crowded with some shady spots to hang too. Both times have seen turtles, in their beautiful real element. Highly recommend staying for a few hours. Just enjoy the wave and great beach.

It is a nice place because of the mix between rock, soil and different vegetation in the landscape. The beach is large and if lucky one can see turtles. It was easier to find a parking place here (also to park on the road) compared to other plages.

It's 6hrs by bus from Waikiki but worth it. I left my Hostel at 3pm, the bus was delayed and it left at 3.20pm. I left lanaikea in the dark, was able to make it home shortly after 10pm. But I don't recommend leaving that late.
The turtles themselves were spectacular. These ones tend to be most common on the beach at midday.

Often see turtles here, so one of our favorite spots to stop when on the North side of the island. The parking is expanded from what the 2019 Street View images show, but drive slowly as lot has some rough dips that can test your suspension. Great view of the ocean and waves. If you are a bit more adventurous, the view from the rocks is nice. Be sure to check the pool areas among the rocks for fish and crabs.

Came here for the sea turtles and it did not disappoint! My wife loves sea turtles, and she was in heaven. It is a very rocky beach, not a great place for the kids to swim. After being on Oahu for 7 days, we wish we would have spent more time on the NW side of the island.
Traffic coming here from Honolulu was great until we got close, the parking situation is not great and it caused traffic to back up quite a bit.
There were also some very nice volunteers there to protect the sea turtles, they were very informative and helpful.

Laniakea Beach, nestled on Oahu's North Shore, is a captivating destination that delighted my entire family. Despite the scenic drive from Waikiki, the journey was filled with anticipation, offering glimpses of Hawaii's natural splendor along the way. Upon arrival, the charm of Laniakea Beach unfolded before us—a tranquil haven with fewer tourists and an inviting ambiance. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the chance to observe sea turtles basking in the sun, a magical encounter that left us in awe.
As we strolled along the shoreline, each step brought new discoveries and moments of joy. The soft sand beneath our feet and the gentle sound of waves provided the perfect backdrop for family bonding. Whether we were building sandcastles, splashing in the surf, or simply enjoying each other's company, Laniakea Beach offered something for everyone. It was a shared experience that brought us closer together, creating memories we'll cherish for years to come. So, if you're seeking a family-friendly adventure in paradise, don't miss the opportunity to explore the beauty of Laniakea Beach—it's a journey you won't soon forget.

We knew from a previous visit that there are turtles that come up on the beach here every day! They normally come around noon-ish and then stay until after sunset. There is an organization there that monitors the turtles that come up. They are able to identify them and keep everyone a safe distance. The beach is large with plenty of space to spread out and perfect to watch the sunset. There are also quite a few people surfing here as well. If you want a sure fire way to see turtles, this is your spot!
We found this during my research of beaches to stop at on a drive around the island as we wanted to visit the north shore. We also saw that this is a great place to spot turtles as well. There is a lot of parking on the side of the street leading up to the beach, and there is also a decent size gravel lot across the street. We arrived about 30 minutes before sunset. We found a spot to just sit on the beach and watch the surfers and the sunset. We saw a sign that had an arrow for turtles and we saw a group of people all the way at the end of the beach where the rocks are. There were 3 turtles there! There is an organization there that creates a rope barrier and makes sure people keep their distance while also educating people about the turtles. Turns out they keep records of 35 different turtles that like to come up and nap on this beach, and that there’s usually at least one turtle there every day. We learned a lot about the green turtles and the organization. We had never seen a turtle like that in person before so it was super cool. We sat and watched the sunset with the turtles and it was perfect. There are some rocks over where the turtles are, but if you keep walking down, it turns into soft sand. The organization that keeps an eye on the turtles warned us that right after the sun goes down, cars get broken into so we should all probably head back. Please be sure to take your bags with you on your person, don’t leave anything that looks valuable in plain sight, and lock your doors. So please be alert and aware of your surroundings. Whenever we return, we will definitely be coming back here for a beach day.

There are always sea turtles hanging out at this beach!
However, it was not as good to snorkel as it was murky, there's not much of a beach to speak of, there are no bathrooms or washing stations, and the place is always packed with tourists who neglect the proper distancing you're supposed to observe with these magnificent animals. We didn't stay long.
Come snap some pictures of the turtles, be respectful, and be on your way.

Pupukea Beach Park is a picturesque destination that attracts many visitors. The area offers an excellent opportunity for snorkeling, with an abundance of sea creatures and fish to be seen. The beach has deep-blue waters, a diverse coastline, and is comprised of both lava and white sand areas. It covers three distinct regions: Sharks Cove to the north, Old Quarry in the middle, and Three Tables towards the south.
Awesome place! The waves constantly break over the exposed rock wall and flow into the lagoon. Bottom is a mix of rocks and sand but shallow enough to walk out into water. Wearing water shoes is recommended to avoid sore feet.

A very beautiful beach with a lot of rocks along the shoreline. Went on a day where it was cloudy, windy, and the waves were a bit too strong so we did not get a good snorkelling experience. I recommend observing the wave strength before trying to go in, strong waves and sharp rocks along the shoreline can be very dangerous. Recommend wearing aqua shoes to protect the feet from the sharp rocks.

Great spot to snorkel. We saw turtles and pretty fish. Be super careful if you head out of the cove as you can't get back at low tide. We saved a couple lives as we were taking sunset photos and heard a couple snorkelers yelling for help. Ended up calling 911 and they had to bring in a helicopter to save them. It was exciting, but a good reminder of making sure you're aware of where you are, the tide and other potential dangers!

Amazing views! We wanted to see the waves hitting the rocks and spraying up. This area did not disappoint. We went in January and apparently there was a storm on the way so there were huge waves. It made you realize how small you are. The power and the sound, the spray and the smell. Just all incredible. A must see.

OK so this actually is right before sharks cove. There's a pathway that leads to a secret tide pool that can seat 6 to 8 people comfortably, were you are surrounded by rock's and there's a little entrance for water to flow in. I wouldn't recommend bringing kid's here. But it's a nice low key spot to get your drink on or smoke on and enjoy the water away from all of the crowds. Now it's left of that tree go about 30 feet to your left and look down you will see the path way that leads to to it..don't go to the one's I took a picture of as that is sitting water so you could get sick going in that. Plus if you went down there you went to far for the tide pool. I hope this helps you out and have a great day

Visit pupukea Beach Park in Hawaii in January 2021. Pupukea beach park is located right in front of the famous Shark's Cove. There's lots of snorkeling and swimming. Otherwise, the park is very calm and tranquil. I'm not guilty, to say that I absolutely enjoy coming here and relaxing and falling asleep under the palm trees. It was beautiful and a wonderful experience. Perfect for family gatherings or just to lay down and enjoy the beautiful Sun. And the weather. Also across the street from pupukea Beach Park is pupukea Foodland. Where you can pick up some food or a cold drink.

What a great location to watch the sunset.

Great snorkeling for beginners, lots of fish and marine life. No live coral to see due to people stepping on it, however. It can get too crowded and churned up, reducing visibility. The entrances are filled with sharp rocks so wear water shoes instead of fins, the fins are not needed in this mostly shallow and protected area. Parking can be a challenge so avoid peak times for the other reasons mentioned. Many food trucks and vendors are across the street. Happy snorkeling!
Haleʻiwa Beach Park is a beachside park located in the North Shore of Oahu, that offers amenities like playgrounds, basketball/volleyball courts, and picnic areas. Apart from being a popular spot for swimming with sea turtles, it is also one of the best places to try activities like snorkeling, kayaking, standup paddleboarding and surfing. The waves here are known for their high-performance capabilities which attract experienced surfers during winters.
What great beach to just chill out on. Saw a lot of sea life, from turtles to sharks (later in the evening). Cane back here Friday night to see how the fishing was - few bites, but nothing significant. All in all, a great place during the day!

Beautiful beach great for relaxing on the beach or in the calm waters. Beach is rocky and there are plenty of rocks and reefs in water to be aware of. Parking was free and there was plenty of open spots in the lot and on the beach. Does have public bathrooms but they were not in the greatest of shapes!
Michael Klamer — Google review
Good spot for surfing, but the surf is rougher on this side of the island, so it's not so great for younger swimmers. Neat alternative: looking for hermit crabs. Interestingly coarse sand, described by my little one as "everything bagel sand". Convenient parking, showers, and big open-air bathrooms.

We rented a boat and went out whale watching for my birthday and we got lucky and seen a few on the way back it was a blast everyone was very professional, helpful and polite. I can't wait to have a chance to go back out on it again. It was located out on the north shore and we rode out on the blue Marlin. Thr captain was so awesome and made our trip so much fun. If you have some extra time and are looking for some activities to do around the island look it up or let me know and I can see if I can get more information for you. I hope this helps you out and I hope you have a great day.

Absolutely stunning view. Best place on Oahu to see the sunset. The view of the mountains will have you in awe..
Queen S — Google review
Great surf spot if you go down the road a little past all the main parking lot. Double check the tide and surf reports before going out make sure its going from low tide to high tide to have the best results. Be cautious of wild life there's tons of different types in the reef and in the tide pools. The sea turtles do surf the waves with you to, but they are trying to get to the seaweed growing on the shore rocks.

It was a Beautiful Sunset. And there was a couple sea turtles Popping their head out of the water every so often. It’s one of the many relaxing beaches to go to on Oahu!!

Beautiful beach in north shore. Lots of turtles close to shore.
Remember not to touch sealife.

Located in North Shore. A very expansive area with beaches, playgrounds, picnic area with benches. Decent parking spaces, restrooms, shower fountains. In August, the beach is pretty calm, swimmable with gradual sand slope, some beach goers bring beachchairs or laydown for a tan. Area near ocean is not shaded. Not very crowded.

A very nice beach and park. Plenty of parking. We love the swimming and snorkeling here. We ended up swimming with turtles here. A magical experience.

Always frequent the Beach park because it's so close to park near the beach and just skip to the beach. I love mingling with the locals and tourist. Always beautiful to catch the sunset too!!!

Beautiful north shore beach! Park has a playground and bathroom. Walk around the point and a long beach with big surf.

The park is nice. The shower and changing room is acceptable and welcomed. We swam with 3 turtles, which was fascinating. Just beware of the typical rocky floor in the ocean.
Robert Van Steen — Google review
Nice beach with plenty of areas to walk around for sightseeing. There was a lot of surfers in the area. Also had restrooms so there's a plus plenty of parking if you get there early. One of the nicer beaches I stopped at on the North shore

Beach is good with natural beauty and great views but the facilities are meagre, toilets smelly and filthy, very run down and definitely not very well looked after.
Shark's Cove is a coastal area with rocky shores and tidal pools filled with small fish, perfect for snorkeling. It also offers showers and restrooms. This naturally-protected swimming spot is known for its abundance of fish, coral, and unique rock formations. Despite its name, it is unlikely to encounter any sharks here as the name comes from the shape of the reef. Shark's Cove is designated as a Marine Life Conservation District, ensuring an abundance of aquatic life and fearless fish towards humans.
Beautiful snorkel, make sure to bring your mask and boots(no need for fins). It is very shallow for some places, so I would say it is perfect for kids as well. But there are some sharp rocks, parking is limited, arrive early as possible, unless it is not crowded.
Overall good place to hang out :)

Phenomenal beach! This is the spot to visit if you want to see Wild Sea life with a beautiful view.
The best time to visit is in the evening due to high tide, but at 10 am, we were still able to see plenty of fish and sea turtles. Make sure to bring you gogglea and snorkeling gear and sunblock!
Bring water shoes also, the sand is 1000 degrees and there are sharp rocks.
Will J. — Google review
Free spot for some snorkeling. Restrooms are available. Try to arrive early as parking can be limited. Food trucks right across the street. Take your snorkeling gear and water shoes as the walk into the water can be rough due to the rocks. Really enjoyed myself.

Really fun area to snorkel! Great for the whole family! Be careful of the Sea Urchins! Wear water shoes! And if you’re going to rent gear the one across the street charges a lot and they close at 6pm! Keep that in mind!

Great place to snorkel and watch sea turtles! In the cove, the water was calm and pleasant, but a little cool in June. We saw many types of fish and coral. Beautiful colors and clear seas. Highly recommend

We had a blast.
We got there around 10am and the parking lot was already full, so I parked further down which was about 6-min walk.
Remember to snorkel in pairs.

Good spot for snorkeling. There are lots of fish to swim after. Parking can be a challenge, but be patient, and you will find a spot.
Scott Milne — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place to snorkel for the entire family. No there are no sharks even tho that's the name. Bring water shoes because the rocks on the way down and around the cove are extremely razor sharp and will cut your feet if you're not wearing water shoes. Bring water and food if you'd like. There are a few food trucks and a supermarket across the street. Parking and entrance is free of charge. Don't leave any valuables in your vehicles to be broken into.

We went here to go snorkeling after been told it was a good calm place to snorkel. It was far from it. It was very windy, choppy and it was difficult to enjoy the snorkeling. You have to walk all over rocks to get out to the snorkeling spots. When we did snorkel we spotted lots of marine life.
Daithí Kilcourse — Google review
Stunning. Get here! Bring some goggles and empty bellies. The food trucks serve some delicious foods. You can easily spend all day snorkeling and still not see everything. Really cool spot to eat and enjoy the island a little more.
Gabriel Egas (Gabe) — Google review
Enjoyed this place a lot!! It's really good for snorkel(for beginners). Calm and relaxing. Not too much parking, but with patience, you will get one spot. Make sure you bring water shoes because it is rocky.
Lilian Reynoso — Google review
Kid’s friendly snorkeling spot, we saw sting rays and sea turtles! Of course some other fish too!
Highly recommend to go early to avoid the crowds. You will have to leave all your stuff by the bay so make sure you don’t bring too much stuff with you if you’re not secure with your belongings.
You can basically go anytime of the day, water is still visible even with the crowds. Remember to bring water shoes or some sort of protection for your feet!!

Top 3 reasons to visit:
Spectacular Marine Life: It's renowned for its diverse marine life, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving.
2. Natural Beauty: The cove is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, with volcanic rock formations and lush greenery. The scenery is ideal for photography and relaxation.
3. Crystal Clear Waters: The water at Sharks
Cove is often crystal clear, providing excellent visibility for underwater exploration.

Sharks cove was pretty amazing for me. The waves on Ke lki beach were huge and we couldn't get into the water. Sharks Cove provided a perfect retreat from the waves and was shallow enough for me ( a weak swimmer to enjoy). Having never been snorkeling before we saw a decent amount of fish and sea creatures and felt completely safe while doing it. If you're an experienced snorkeler you may be disappointed. I don't know. It's not exactly like the pictures you see of underwater life, but I, personally, loved the experience. There is a ton of sharp coral so be prepared by either having water shoes or flippers. Even your small children will enjoy snorkeling and checking out the sea life.
There are bathrooms on site with an outdoor shower to wash off with after you're done. The parking isn't huge so arrive early to claim your spot or be prepared to walk.

Awesome place to snorkeling with interesting experience, especially for the beginner. And it’s safe to see various fish under the water, but avoiding to get close to the area of “water inlet”, especially in the windy weather. Check the tide chart before coming, it is ideal to snorkel at the low tide. Remember to wear water shoes and bath towel.

Great place for beginners snorkeling. Gets crowded really fast. Come early, before 8 am to avoid the crowds or you’ll see more legs than fish. Fairly shallow, can enjoy with just mask and snorkel. Highly recommend water shoes because of sharp rocks if you don’t wear fins. Strong current in a few spots, so closely watch your kids.

A must visit when traveling to Oahu. Great place to experience the warm and clear waters of the ocean. Many fish to see around the corral. The tide does get rough in the evenings but very calm throughout the day time.

Haleʻiwa Aliʻi Beach Park is a well-maintained family beach with plenty of sand and picnic tables. It features a narrow stretch of beach for sunbathing and a volleyball court. Although some visitors did not swim in the water, it is believed to be safe for swimming as there were whale sightings about 200 feet out from the beach. The park also offers opportunities for whale watching tours towards the end of the season.
I did not actually get into this water at this Beach like i typically would in all the other beaches i have been to on this island. But i will say it was a well maintain family beach and lot's of sand though out. I had a different purpose this trip to the beach, I had met a captain to a boat right outside this Beach to go whale watching for my birthday right before the end of the season and we were blessed to see some on the way back. I still believe the beach is safe to swim at as we were about 200 feet out when we seen them so no worries. I will be back soon to actually enjoy the water there at this Beach. I hope this helps you out and have a great day.

We visited this beach after exploring Haleiwa town. Alii Beach is a wide golden sandy beach. Clean beach with lots of elbow room. Big parking lot, lifeguards onsite, picnic tables, bathroom/shower facilities. Walkable to town for restaurants and shopping. The waves were small when we visited…it was perfect for surfing lessons. We saw a turtle bobbing it’s head in the water. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

This was hands down THE BEST beach to spend our day to catch some sun rays. The locals were very friendly and fun, even when a wave knocked me on my butt and swept me up, twice. When I finally gained my footing, they applauded and made small talk. 🤣 It was fun to watch all of the surfers.
We were on vacation for my birthday for a week and we were staying down by Waikiki Beach. (Not so fun and for a different review 🤣🤭)

Great spot to snorkel. Really an unspoiled location. There several miles of beach front but if you follow the GPS where it ends, then take 2 right turns into the neighborhood, y'all find limited parking, like 4 or 5 spaces with an open gated entrance along some houses. You can swim, snorkel, surf, and just relax and take in what God has created.

Nice beach in the north shore if you want to get away from the busy crowds in Waikiki. Much more isolated and relaxing. Here on a Thursday morning. They have a big grassy area, tons of shade and a few picnic tables available. When you walk out to the water, you’ll have your beachy area with plenty of shade if that’s what your going for. Catching a few sea turtles here popping their heads up from the water. Highly recommend. Relaxing vibe.
Kaiaka Bay Beach Park spans across 53 acres of grassy fields and shoreline, boasting stunning tide pools and a distinctive rock formation. Although lacking soap in the restrooms and closing gates at varying times after dark, this beach park remains a favorite for families who frequent its picnic tables. While the upkeep may leave something to be desired with dead grass patches and potential tripping hazards from chicken holes, the breathtaking views of crashing waves make for an ideal relaxation spot.
This beach is absolutely unbelievable. The views are phenomenal and the beach was virtually empty when we came. This beach/park is very peaceful and I would choose this over the honolulu beaches any day.

Been here before camping but it has gotten a bit run down. Park wise. Bathrooms well kept and shower area ok. Just the people that hang out and camp without permits is unbelievable. Back before the pandemic, it was an even better place to camp. Hardly any green grass to camp on. I think that's the biggest down side to camping here compared to a place like Kualoa Beach Park. All brown grass and dirt. We had a good time though because the weather was very nice. Gets a bit windy around the afternoon time.

Again the c&c of honolulu need to take better care of the parks. It's like they don't have any care takers or they only focus on keeping certain parks nicer than others.

This is a very nice park. Lots of open space, and not too many people, even on the weekend in the middle of spring break. The other parks in Haleiwa were just jam packed with people.
There is a very nice strip of sand beach to relax on.
Not a very good place to swim at low tide since the reef begins about two feet off the sand, and the water is only a little over a foot deep. That said, it was a great place to snorkel, once I was about 100 yards out from the beach. Lots of fish and corals. Beware of the huge number of sea urchins in this reef! You don't want to randomly put your hand down, or drag your body on the rocks.
WARNING. There are no lifeguards here, so you are on your own.
There is a nice changing structure with showers near the beach. It looks fairly new.
It was a nice place to get away from the crowd on the North Shore.

Our family LOVES this beach park. We have called here a few times and it is awesome! A few things to note... there is no soap in the restrooms (like all the other beach parks) and the gates close at random times after dark. Don't think you are safe because the sign says a specific time... they do it when they want.

Great little area, lots of locals camping out when we were there and they were very polite. One of them was spear finishing and they caught an octopus and cut it up for bait, not sure if that is legal or not but it was interesting to see. This is NOT a Farmer's Market. There was ONLY one stall selling a few vegetables and fruits; I was disappointed. It was a tourist market place with cooked food, crafts, body products, jewelry, class products, clothes, and so forth. I gave only one star, because I went there to buy items that is usually at a regular farmer's market. The actual presentation of a tourist market place was okay. The name should be changed to Tourist Market Place. Saying it is a Farmer's Market is very misleading.

Waialua Bay is a picturesque body of water situated on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The bay boasts stunning views of the ocean and surrounding coastline. The area is known for its calm waters and idyllic setting, making it an ideal spot for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The bay is also home to a diverse range of marine life, including sea turtles and colorful fish species that can be spotted while snorkeling or diving.
Puaʻena Point Beach Park is a suitable spot for novice surfers who want to avoid the more challenging surf breaks on North Shore. It offers a gentle wave that doesn't break too quickly, making it perfect for those still learning how to stand up on their board. Thanks to its status as a protected cove, Puaena tends to have smaller waves compared to other nearby surf spots.

There were about a dozen adolescent sea turtles swimming right up to the shore, in the waves. DO NOT TOUCH unless you want a $5k-$10k fine (yes thousands), but super cool to see them up so close eating algae from the rocks along the shore.
There's a limited sandy area in the middle which was crowded with swimmers/waders, and a bunch of rocky bottom around that area - so bring water shoes.

A lovely natural beach area with a lot of palm trees & other plants. It's a nice place to walk around and feel that you're a little closer to the natural flora & fauna of these islands.

Awesome surf spot for beginner/intermediate. Beautiful beach and lots of turtles. Bring your snorkel too!

It’s like a hidden private beach, not as crowded as other touristy beach. Great spot to visit in the morning when the beach is almost exclusive to handful of people. That’s when we saw a turtle swimming in the distance. Since there are lots of trees for shades, this beach would be a great spot in the noon or hot days in general. Personally, I feel unsafe if a female visits here alone because the woods looked deep, there’s a resident in the woods, and we saw first responders at the parking spot talking to someone.

Out of the way beach with great views and plenty of sea turtles 🐢 🌊 we always spend time here when we are in Oahu

Very nice beach area. Turtles swimming close to you but isn't allowed as you are supposed to stay 10 feet from them. There is actually turtle guardians that just sit on a small ridge overlooking the area watching and advising safe distances from the turtles. Totally unclear, but there can be a $10,000 fine for something that has to do with the turtles, rather just keep my distance. But yes, if your in the area, check it out.

Great place for beginners to try surfing. Quite a lot of sharp coral not far down though, so try not to fall deep. Good place to see turtles. The sand isn't fine enough to make a sandcastle of any kind. Lots of good shade though. There are restrooms, but they are really gross, so we avoid them.

This is a great place to see turtles. I’ve never not seen them here. The water isn’t very swimmer friendly though and it’s usually pretty murky. I would not recommend this for beginning swimmers. The beach is also very rocky, so I would recommend water shoes to protect your feet.
Chuns Reef Beach, located on Oahu's North Shore, is a recreational seaside getaway with exquisite sandy shores and optimal conditions for surfing. This beach stands out as one of the finest in the area, offering a more secluded setting compared to the bustling Waikiki Beach. The sand here is beautifully soft and beloved by both children and adults, complemented by crashing waves along the shoreline. Chuns Reef is renowned for its exceptional surfing opportunities, attracting many enthusiasts to its waters.
I love this beach. It never gets crowded (on the sand). It has a great right riding for surfers. Watch out for the reefs.

Chuns Reef Beach was the pretty cool beach to surf, but if you’re a beginner or first-time surfing at Chuns Reef Beach, be careful of lava rocks. Waves are fantastic, depending on the weather, but I had good waves to surf. Besides lava rocks, I think Chuns Reed Beach was a beautiful place to surf. And you will see many surfers are surfing at this beach as well.

Really nice long board waves and a nice beach for people to lounge on. So long as too many people aren't causing traffic to look at the turtles down the road.

Beautiful spot for snorkeling. Just a handful of people so it felt like we had the beach to ourselves, which we definitely loved! Parked directly across the street so we literally crossed the street to the beach. Felt like paradise!

Breaking nicely when we went there. Good surf session

Parking and crossing the road can be hazardous (with small kids) but it’s a great beach. As far as surfing goes it can be a learners spot or an experts spot depending on the swell.

Perfect (not crowded) spot for beginner surfing.

Fun place to surf when it's within your limits! I'm a beginner so I only go when it's like 2-3ft or less. The sets can come in and really knock you out, plus it's all reef bottom, so any larger than that and you should really know what you're doing.
