A Carousel for Missoula is a beloved local attraction that features a hand-crafted carousel and hosts frequent community events. Additionally, the site boasts an outdoor playground called Dragons Hollow, which is perfect for families with children. Despite recent concerns about mask-wearing for kids, many visitors still enjoy the facility's open-air environment amidst the heat. Overall, A Carousel for Missoula offers a unique and magical experience on the edge of Clark Fork River that appeals to all ages.
Very cool space on the edge of the Clark Fork River. Just went to check it out as a volunteer army hand-carved the beautiful horses and dragons. Great place to take kids with a cool playground outside called the Dragon’s Hollow.

Super fun experience for me and the kids. So much fun and laughter. Staff is friendly and nice. Not a long wait and the carousel goes fast. I loved it!!!

Just plain fun, take your kids there, $1 a ride for kids $2 for the big kids

It was so much fun! The carousel went pretty fast. My two daughters and I pulled plastic rings from a dragons nose as we were going around. It was challenging to grab a ring but we got all of them. The last ring is brass and whoever gets it, gets a free ride! I'm in my late 60's and felt like a kid again, riding a horse on a carousel. We laughed so much and rode the carousel a couple of times. The elderly (older than I) gentleman that was in charge, told us that a 97 year old woman got on a horse last month. She holds the record. It's for all ages and you are never too old to ride a carousel. Cute little gift shop. Friendly and fun staff there. A great experience and a must do if you are visiting Missoula, Montana.

Charming and special. This lovingly restored carousel is a wonderful treat for kids of all ages.
Try to grab the brass ring for another free ride. Just a fun and charming place for all.

Such a neat place with so many ways to enjoy the time!! Just had my child’s birthday there and was extremely satisfied! Haley and Shaun did such an amazing job with catering to myself and the party guests!! 100% perfection!! Thank you to the team and Tracy for making this private party possible!!

Probably the best carousel in the Northwest! It's as much fun for my kids as it is for my adult friends I've brought for a visit! Highly recommend stopping by. Tip: grab an outside animal so you can try and grab the golden ring ;)

This place was built when I was growing up.
Saturday farmers market happens outside until 1pm. Right next to it is the park where events are happening all the time. Though many locals have been shoved out of the area, this place holds personal history and care.

Some neat history and a fun carousel; well run.

Not only is this the best carousel experience for kids, but adults have fun too, with the brass ring game. And the employees are genuinely all amazing. Every time we go, which seems to be weekly, we meet someone new who makes the ride that much more enjoyable.

Great carousel with always friendly and helpful staff. Make the experience fun for people of all ages. Also the Dragon rings really give it it's own unique twist to a carousel that will have your kids wanting to ride over and over. Also prices are very reasonable and the playground next door is awesome!

Just had my daughter Quinn's 11th Birthday party here, and it was great. For a small price we could invite up to 12 people to ride the Carousel for free and use of a party room for an hour and 15 minutes. Would definitely hold a party here again. My daughter has always loved the Carousel, her favorite horse is Paint.

Great place to take the Kids or hold a kid's party. It endless fun and the staff are extremely kind, patient and compassionate about helping the kids on and off the horses and with seatbelts. The gift shop is stocked with affordable little kid's snacks. There is a wonderful park attached to the location.

We come here for our daughter’s birthday every year and it’s magical. This year we came on a Saturday and even though it was busy, we still barely had to wait to get on. The attendant saw our daughter’s pretty dress and asked if it was her birthday. Then he announced her by name over the intercom and had everyone tell her happy birthday. People even came up to her later and gave her their unused tokens so she could ride over and over. It was the highlight of her entire birthday week, and ours too. We found out later the man’s name is Jeff, and we’d like to thank him especially for making our daughter’s special day so incredible!

A neat place to visit (even though I didn't ride). It's a very inviting place, friendly, knowledgeable staff and has history on a gigantic stone slab out front.
Pricing seemed to be spot on with the area, and was seemingly not busy when we went midday. Overall a nice stop during our walk. Might even ride if I come back another time.

Kinda bummed the playground was closed.. very surprised they were pushing masks on children.. If they are going to do such a thing.. they should practice cleaning the facility instead... it's OUTSIDE anyways.. in heat.. it's kinda ridiculous.. kids had fun, but mine weren't going to put a mask on... but A child is telling me I needed to wear one?? It kinda ruins the experience...
Holy cow, do not miss this museum, and be sure to take a tour because it includes the base itself. Extremely interesting and worth stopping for even if your destination is not Missoula.
It is all free, so I suggest you buy some thing or donate some bucks.
It was not clear, which of the numerous buildings that were part of the same complex was where one should enter. Some signage pointing the way to the museum would have been great.

Was really looking forward to this tour, small or otherwise. Unfortunately, we arrived 30 min before the posted tour time on a Sat and it was locked up tighter than a drum. The hours posted on the door and on the phone message did not state that they were closed on weekends. And the Google search results stated that they were open on Sat and Sun (I have since reported that change). A fireman in another building told us is that the visitors center is in fact closed on weekends. It's really too bad because there were are 5 other cars that arrived and left when it became clear that the center was not going to open. So if you plan to visit, take your chances and hope that it is open since the online search results indicate that they are closed Mon through Wed too.

Once you turn off of the road/West Broadway Street there isn't signage to indicate where you should park or where the museum is located. My friends and I walked around and did locate the museum, in spite of no signs, only to find that it was closed. Please note: We looked at the website and the information there said that it was open daily for tours. If you plan to visit this museum I highly recommend that you call beforehand. To the staff at the museum- please update your website, and please post signage to indicate where to park and the museum location.

My Dad was a smoke jumper in the '60s. It made this experience even more fascinating and enjoyable. Great personal tour!!🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

Awesome little museum highlighting the history of the smokejumpers to modern times. Will take about 30min to an hour to enjoy the exhibits and highly reccomend taking the tour, about an hour, which takes you into the barracks to see the ready rooms and packing rooms of the firefighters. The museum is free but please consider buying a souvineer as the proceeds fund incidental expenses of the jumper crew members! Big thanks to the men and women jumping out of perfectly good airplanes into the inferno, helping to maintain and preserve these majestic lands, and the museum for honouring and preserving their legacy.

Very cool museum. We didn’t catch a tour but it was nice to walk around the property and see the history of Smoke Jumping. Since it is next door to the airport we stopped in after being on a plane for two and a half hours the kids loved stretching their legs.

My first impression was really poor. It was not clear right away where to enter. There were lots of weeds in front of the building which looked terrible. The are no guided tours right now, even though their website says otherwise. It is a very small building. As a former wildland firefighter, I didn't really need the tour, but it would have been nice. There is a short informative video and a replica of the inside of a lookout. The only other thing to see is the gear smokejumpers use. At least it was free to enter.

Was impresed by skills and professional atitude those guys have. They realy jump into the fire and start fighting it. The gear and equipment presentation was outstending. One more time: they are real deal and the name 'Smoke Jumpers'the best descibe what they do. Good luck and thank You for your service.

Awesome tour experience!! My daughter (who's in high school) and I found it super interesting. Our guide was top-notch with her explanations, having had both her parents as smokejumpers. It takes place at he actual training facility right next to the airport so you get to see the real life equipment, test areas, locker rooms, etc. Super educational and we came away with tremendous respect for what the smokejumpers do. We'd highly recommend this tour!!!

The young lady who gave our group's tour did an excellent job!! She was very knowledgeable and shared her own experience as both her parents have been jumpers there. We'll be back. Thx!
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of elk and their natural habitat. The RMEF has a well-designed visitor center with interactive exhibits that are suitable for children. The exhibits showcase the story of elks and their environment, while a nature trail provides an opportunity to explore the surroundings. Additionally, the RMEF regularly hosts events for families and kids, which are professionally organized.
Wonderful place to check out while you're in the area! Besides being an important conservation group, the RMEF has a great visitor center that anyone can enjoy. They routinely have events for kids and families, which are always highly organized and professional.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are always clean and beautiful.
Besides visiting, I'd also encourage you to look at becoming a member.

Amazingly wonderful place to learn about the local elk and their habit. It is free to get in and look around. There are great walking paths on the property that are also free to use.
There is a small shop, but its only focus is on men with nothing for women or children. Prior to their remodel, the whole place was more family friendly in the activities as well as the shop.
Stephanie Watts — Google review
Elk Foundation Headquarters no longer worth a visit. With a big fence around it now not really a very welcoming place. Maybe there motto is "Welcome to Montana, now please leave." Nothing like an organization that pleads and whines to protect elk population and habitat only to roll up the carpet for the locals. Great example of a Missoula "citizen."
Susan Andrews — Google review
The Montana Elk Foundation continues to support the torture of animals, theft of pets and violation of fair-chase standards by providing funds and lobbying for trappers who represent a tiny fraction of the population. Their good work to preserve elk habitat is stained by catering to those who think torturing animals for profit and “fun” is a good thing.

If you want a gift that will last all year long consider becoming a member. Giving memberships to friends and family is also a great way to keep the program going.
Beautiful trails to a great scenic overlook! We went to Curry Cabin and onto the Stanley Peak.

Beautiful area to hike! Be warned, a lot of the trail is uphill - if you take the left fork it's a graduated slope and the right fork is steeper. Also, my sister ran in to bears here (the furthest left trail) so make sure you have bear spray!

It's an extremely busy place with zero camping if you are on anything besides foot.
As a disabled veteran... who can't do terrain on foot.. skip it.
If you are a hiker and like lot's of traffic... it's probably a hit.

The farmers market has changed a bit since I was a kid, but I'm glad there's more to see now. The art is always amazing, and people are friendly. My favorite part of the market is the live music and the coffee from local shops. I love that there's so much to see and do, and it still feels heavily local, despite the amount of people gentrifying missoula

The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula showcases the narrative of the 1877 fort and local history, featuring restored edifices on-site. Some buildings were transferred to the location for preservation purposes, while original structures are well-maintained. The museum also houses a forestry exhibit with old constructions and educational artifacts. The staff is friendly, and admission fee is affordable at $4 per person.
You can see a lot of old sawmill, farming and old buildings here. I walked around in the snow and it was about 25 degrees so didn't stay long. I'll go back and see the museum and more on another day.

We absolutely LOVED this place! Seeing all the old mining, logging, and farm equipment was a thrill for us. The museums (4) are very nice. I wish more of the older buildings were open to the public. Loved climbing up the lookout tower... great views! Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy!

$4 is a deal for this place in my eyes. We had a little time to kill so we stopped in and toured the grounds a little bit. Lot of things to see and read about. Staff were very friendly. We didn’t see it all though so now we have an excuse to come back through Missoula 😁. Thanks for preserving the history!

It is a very nice museum, it has the history of the CCC in Montana, the territory and tribes that used lo live in the area, as well as Missoula's history in WWII. It also has a section about how the bikes have been great part of Missoula's history. The entrance fee is $4 per adult.

Not all of the buildings are original to the fort. There were several that were moved to the spot for preservation, so it was a little disappointing. There is a lot of history here though. And the buildings that were original to the fort are well cared for. Theres also a forestry museum attached to this, with old buildings and items for educational purposes.

AFTER we paid, we were told most areas were closed, till next spring. A bit disappointing. It was 5$ each but would have been nice to know before that 60+% wasn't open.
The areas we could visit were nice. Volunteers were knowledgeable and polite. We'll try to come back when it's all open and review again.

Wish I had saved more time for this place! Everything was free, self-guided tour of many original buildings and artifacts from the 1800’s. Loved the trains and the schoolhouse!! They have books from 1870 just lying around for anyone to pick up and read. Complete with an old railroad station, log home, and original church. Expect to spend 2+ hours here if you really want to soak in all the history.

A very good local Museum that has a lot of information about Fort Missoula and the CCC during the depression. It also has a large outdoor general displays of a train, railroad depot, sawmill and miscellaneous stuff. There is a separate military Museum that is very interesting.

We stopped here as an impromptu stop and it turned out to be a lot of fun! I love dressing up and inside the museum they had a little dress up area which I of course got silly with. They had a few different exhibits inside the building, while outside they had a whole array of old buildings from different times and placements. The handout they give you has a good little tibit about each place on the land and what it is. The only unfortunate part is that it is very spread out, so it can be a lot of walking from one point to the next. I hope to see them get some more things for the spaces between so there is more to walk to when heading from one to another. Overall it's a nice museum for 4$ a person, it takes a few hours to see and appreciate it all.

Caras Park is a verdant public space situated in the heart of downtown Missoula, which offers a wide range of cultural and recreational activities throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy listening to live music, lounging on the grass or taking a leisurely stroll by the river. Additionally, thrill-seekers can watch surfers take on the challenging river rapid. A fenced play area is available for children, while foodies will appreciate the weekend farmers market.
Beautiful area, great view along the river. There's a neat old-school carousel with wooden horses, and a huge children's play area that will entertain toddlers to 13yr olds for a good while. Overall worth visiting if you happen to be in Missoula. Also tons of beautiful old architecture in the area.

All ages can enjoy this part and feel like you're really out there. It's a little bit of nature right in the middle of the city.
This park always features great events, food beer garden, live music an art. Plus on Saturdays there's a market with lots of locals selling their goods.👍

The University of Montana, a research institution established in 1893, boasts of an expansive park-like campus with an iconic hillside "M." The atmosphere during night games is electric as students and the band cheer on their team, making the surrounding mountains ring with excitement. Despite lacking another video screen on the opposite end and not permitting beverages in seats, it remains a great place to watch a game. The campus itself is beautiful and steeped in history while still providing all modern amenities one may need.
After four years here, I can say that this is an amazing campus and worth spending time studying at. The faculty and staff are amazing, the grounds are beautiful, and there is always something to do or an event that is happening on campus. My favorite area is the Oval.

Subjectively, can't complain with the inherent beauty that permeates the area. Objectively, not yet a student so I have no insights on the affairs of the matter but am highly considering enrollment in an upcoming program.

Working construction at the university is always a challenge. Have to pay for parking for the whole crew. Nobody working construction likes to park off site as construction workers have much money tied up in tools etc. The university should let construction personnel park for free in a designated area. We appreciate the work we do at the university but probably one of the most challenging areas to work.

I love this University. We went to the game last night. It looked packed and all the students and band made the surrounding mountains ring with cheers. Such a great atmosphere for a night game. Wish they had another video screen on the other end though. Also it would be great if you could have a beer in your seat. Still it was a great place to see a game.

Used to be a better school and used to have a lot more students. Now admission is dwindling. As is the new saying: "Go Woke, Go Broke". Liberal policies have been increasingly driving away students, and money, for a while now.

The town is lovely. We visited en route to Glacier Park. Stayed at lovely Babs Historic Hotel. Although the energy in town is sad due to the ideology being instilled in the youth at the college. Posters and signs along hip hop strip are very left...."abortion for all", "pride tide", "entitled" noted graffiti, homeless, etc. Beliefs reflected in how a visitor is treated. Sad. City officials, college admin., business owners need to make improvements.

Splash Montana is a water park suitable for families seeking to beat the heat. For only $30, groups of five can enjoy the amenities offered all day. The swimming pool contains 5 generously sized lap lanes and an area for free play/swimming. Toddlers have their own zero depth section, while tubes are available for lazy river fun. Other features include interactive sprayers, bucket dumps, and climbing structures such as a large snake, log cross and rope netting, among others.
I love this place, I wish the lifeguards made people share the inner tubes. That's the only problem I always have. I wonder if we can bring our own. Good place to go though to get cooled off. Fun slides.

Great place to cool off on a beautiful summer day! Only $30 for a family of 5 for the whole day. The "Lake" (swimming pool) has 5 generously large lap lanes. The other half is open for free swim/play. There is a zero depth area for toddlers, a lazy river for tubes, a ton of fun water features (sprayers, buckets, a large snake to climb on, log cross, rope netting & more). Tons of deck chairs and loungers. Best of all lots of grass to lay a blanket or your towels on. 2 cabanas for rent. Shade sales and trees to get out of sun if you want. Tubes are free, water & food must be purchased (not too expensive). Lockers for safe keeping of valuables.

Ridiculous and Greedy!
We went there yesterday the first Time. We're living 65 Miles far , so I tried to get as many Information I can get online, and this already was a Struggle. I could find any Opening Hours . I saw that you're not Allowed to bring any Food in the Park and if you forget something in your Car for example. You have to pay a $1 re Entry Fee ! The Park has two Sessions a Day . One Session is 3 Hours . You pay $8 per Adult and $ 5 for a Toddler for 3 Hours swimming.
When we arrived we saw the Sign were the Sessions are mentioned, and we just had a bit over an Hour left . So we went in , because of Hour little one .A plain Cheeseburger cost $9 . The Water in the big Pool was nice , the Water in the Kids Pool was nasty ! I saw trash and Hairbands flooding! I mean for the Prices they want , they should clean and filter the Water properly! It was the first and last Time at Splash Montana. We prefer the River or Pond

I use to love this place but now you can only stay 3 hours. They told everyone to leave but had no warning that they were closing the pools and food at 2. Everyone was confused as this didn't happen last year and staff were ignoring people who were asking questions. Make sure you set alarms for a bit before they close at 2 if you were waiting to food or dip & dots before you leave.

Nice place to go in hot summer. I put two stars due to our upset experience yesterday afternoon. We tried to use the only entry to the light public recreation area of the big pool. A very rude male life guard came to stop us because there's a group of people dancing. I tried to explain that we wouldn't bother them we just want to use the only entry and would go to the deeper part, but he insist on for suspicious reason. So we had to jump into the pool from deep side. We stayed there for more than 1 hour and saw people came into the pool from that same entry freely when other life guards on duty. This made us doubt his real intention there...

This is a fun place to bring the kids in the summer. There's big slides, a lazy river and a kiddie play area. Its clean and family friendly. You can get over priced food and if you want to leave and come back it's a dollar so make sure you don't forget anything in the car!

We’ve been to Splash a bunch of times and it is a great water park and an incredible value for a family fun day on a hot Missoula summer day. Can’t wait to go back this summer after missing out the last two years of being unable to cross into the U.S.

I had a blast here!!! My best fiend and I went here and we wanted to go back so bad!! We were coming to Missoula to come here and to go to the mall for shopping. And this place is crazy cheap!!! I have a local water park that is slightly more expensive than this place and it’s like a 3rd of the size of this one! The slides were so fun, and the log walk was really cool! I love that the lazy river can go 2 different ways in the middle so it’s not as crowded! My 3 year old brother has a blast on the little slide in the kids area. I rode the big red slide at least 5 times! We’re going again next summer! 😃

Bathrooms are neglected and the staff don’t clean them before the start of the day.
The upkeep has really taken a turn for the worse in 2023. As we came there today at 11am when they opened we realized that both men and women bathrooms had clogged toilets, it stank of piss and it was clearly not cleaned out
I talked with the staff and didn’t really get a response that showed they cared or would improve in this area.
It’s a fun place and it’s sad to see that the administration is failing to organize their staff properly

Great place to go have fun for a low price! My daughter had a blast! Even though there was a lot of people we didn't have to wait too long to go down slides or get a tube, which was nice. They have a cafe where you can get food like pizza. You can also rent a locker for your belongings at a very reasonable price. Private showers and stalls for changing.
Cortney S — Google review
Really wish there was a little more for little kids to do there. It's really tough for them to have to watch everyone else go ride giant amazing slides, while anyone under 4 foot tall must stick to one tiny 3' slide

Great place fit the whole family. The swimming lesson instructors are patient with the kids. There's a lap pool for exercise, a lazy river, and water slides. There are more attractions for kids, such as a water park and a rope net to go across like monkey bars.
Robert Sather — Google review
Overall it was a fun water park, nice slides and lazy river and a smaller wade pool for the little ones. I didn’t like the fact you have to leave between 3 and 3:30 and pay again to re-enter when nowhere on their website did I see that information before I drove quite a ways. If you don’t want to wait an hour in line, be there early. I would like to say an extra thank you to the manager/supervisor Lori because she made all the difference in my experience.

Really reasonable priced compared to similar facilities. Fun for various ages of kids. Zero-depth entry in the big splash pool is great for little ones and the older kids like the slides and regular pool. Also has a lazy river and an area for lap swimming.

We love going to splash. Nice place to swim. Fun for adults and kids of all ages. They supply floatation vest for the kids and tubs to float around lazy river and to slide down the big water slide. They have 3 slides, yellow is the slow slide and red is the fast one, orange is for tube use. They have a kiddy wade pool combined with a 3foot deep pool with lots of activities for the kiddos. A very big lap pool for the swimmer's 8' deep
Lots of sunshine and shaded area's chaises and chairs for sitting. Snack bar/ice cream.
Party reservations with a shaded bungalow.
Swim sessions are 11-2 & 2:30-5:30.
Enjoy!
This should be your first stop as soon as you land in Missoula. Big Sky Brewery does beer right. Their famous Moose Drool will have you drooling for more. Each beer is carefully crafted at their facility, literally behind the bar area.
They even have a gluten-free Huckleberry Seltzer, it’s the best tasting seltzer I’ve ever had. Their Strawberry Rhubarb and their Masala beer are truly unique and delicious.
There’s even an amphitheater behind the brewery that is part of the brewery. Concerts are held on weekends and big names come through to play.
A great space to meet up with friends or unwind by yourself.

Loved it. Moose Drool has been a favorite for me for years and Montana seems to be the only place I can get it. Finally got a chance to stop in and have a cold one. Cool hang out spot as several were inside having a beer and a steady line of people coming in to get Growlers filled. Only down side I spent to much money on Moose Drool merch.
James Hensley — Google review
Fantastic beer selection with seasonal fruit flavors. There were tons of indoor and outdoor seating options and some of the kindest staff I’ve encountered. I was impressed by the subtle branding and high quality of the merchandise too. Some days they have a food cart on site otherwise there is no food service. The industrial location had easy on off access to the highway making it a headache-free stop on my road trip through Missoula.

I tried three different beers. Moose drool, Huck it and Shake it. Enjoyed them all. Staff was friendly. The only ding I would give this place is there really isn't any outdoor space to enjoy a beer. There are some picnic tables on the side of the building for a few people. All in all enjoyed it.

Nice spot to grab a beer whether you’re a visitor before a flight or local. There’s no food here so bring snacks if you’re planning to be there a while.

Cool place to see a show but, the lines for beer and food trucks were insanely long!!!! Took an hour in line to get beers!!!!
Missed a lot of the concert just to get beer. The lines were Insane from open till close.
That is my only issue with this facility, everything else was pretty good but, poor food and beverage planning and/or design earns them a 3 star.

Stopped at Big Sky Brewing, home of Moose Drool. Super nice people - so friendly. The beers were excellent. I had the hazy IPA but I filled the growler with Drool for later. It was a little on the cool side today so we didn’t sit on the patio but it looked nice. Just off I90 so it’s easy to find. Highly recommend.

Cool building, good brews, and awesome staff! This place was kids friendly and had decent brews. They have a merch store that has some cool stuff but it was a bit overpriced for me. I'm talking $80 for a hoodie. Other than that this is a pretty neat place definitely worth a visit!

First and foremost the beer is delicious. The staff is friendly and the place is just awesome. I stopped there Sunday as I was driving home from Washington (I live in Indiana). Well, last Sunday I left my wife's company credit card there (she is the owner). I didn't realize it until we were 400 miles down the road. Big Sky was closed, so I had to wait for them to open the next day to call them. After calling them, Big Sky didn't hesitate to send the card in the mail (we got it today). Thank you so much for your kindness. Please support this brewery anyway you can.
Sincerely, Grateful customer.

Had been here a couple times before on quick overnight stays in Missoula MT. Was on a trip to Missoula during 9/23/20-9.26/20 and had visited in the afternoon of 9/24/20. Disappointed at how the taproom had been changed. No longer doing free tastings and the amount of merchandise they sell seems to have declined too since creating a seperate gift shop room. Was also disappointed they walled off the 2nd level from seeing the production facility. Staff friendliness was decent. Beer still tasted great though!
Incredibly awesome place to stop and run children around. It has one of the most interesting playgrounds I've been to in a while with lots of benches and a picnic nook. And if your kid is little, there is a smaller side playground too. Plus, there are loads of little enrichment items throughout - a bunch of talking tubes, multiple xylophones, and other fun toys.
All of this on top of a carousel and a fun gift shop with very nice restrooms.

NOT RV PARKING FRIENDLY!!!! If you’re thinking of stopping by while traveling through the state.
Wish we would have looked before we went. They didn’t have a sign (or maybe we just didn’t see the first one) till half way pulling down the parking lot, had a 28 foot camper and had to back it out of a not fun space.
We were really looking forward to going!!
Maybe next time!

I love this playground. So fun to one around inside a little maze to get to the top to slide down. The kids and I always played hide and go seek or tag at this park. They expanded it and added a nice area for smaller kids and those with disabilities to be able to access play things. There are now areas and slides to fit everyone's needs. it's still being worked on but I saw a little Merry-Go-Round that wheelchairs can roll up onto. I think that'll be awesome to see that up and running and all the smiles that that will produce. 🙂👍

Awesome playground for kids of all ages. Lots of safe and enclosed climbing for my active 2 year old. Darling carousel that opens around noon. Nestled along the river for a pretty setting. Plentiful parking on a Sunday afternoon. No dogs allowed per most playground rules, but there’s a nice walk along the river to walk our little guy while dad plays with the kids at the playground.

Playground was great, was first nice day of spring, so every parent with children were out there, and it was crowded.
I liked how there were many places for parents, etc to sit and watch children, or for kids to have snacks. Nice that it's next to Carousel, and walking path next to river. Also nice that there's a toddlers area of playground.

Wonderful place for children to play at. Open to the public during daylight this is a safe place for very young children to elementary school age children.
Benches are all around the play area for parents to sit.
The playground is also located next to the loca carousel which is also worth a stop.
Overall, a great place for kids to spend some energy.
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church is a stunning brick church built in 1892, boasting an impressive bell tower and intricate frescoes. The artwork on the ceiling is particularly noteworthy and worth seeing. Though it is a religious institution, even non-Catholics can appreciate the architecture and design of this building adorned with statues and carvings. Visitors have praised the friendly community here as well as the inspiring sermon given by Father Hightower during worship services. Overall, St.
Beautiful church with a rich history and colorful murals, stained glass, pipe organ. The building had a lot of 19th century qualities-narrow stairways, short steps, etc. Interesting history printed on a plaque in front of the church. Great sightseeing building on a trip to Missoula.

Built in 1898, the interior contains icons of saints painted by an Italian Jesuit in 1900. The paintings ate on the walls and ceiling. The colors are rich and the detail is magnificent. The church's interior is beautiful wood. The entire experience is warm and tranquil, speaking to the fruits of dedicated lives.

The Missoula Art Museum is a small yet intriguing museum that showcases works by contemporary Montana artists as well as national and international art exhibits. The collection features a diverse range of styles, from Warhol-esque local native art to abstract pieces. The museum also sponsors teen art programs and has an educational component highlighting the behavior and threats posed by bark beetles due to global warming. Visitors can enjoy a quiet environment surrounded by interesting artwork, browse the library of art books or shop at the small book store.
The MAM creates an amazing space showcasing wonderful artwork from local artists. I was in town for the day on business and so glad I stopped in. The employee at the front desk was so pleasant as she explained the museums layout. Make time to visit and enjoy.

On the Missoula events page was posted that they had tours for ALL AGES starting at 11. I brought my 2 year old daughter. We were there for all of 5 min when an employee came to us and said “I hear a lot of energy, maybe we can use that energy to make art.” My daughter was moving pretty quickly around the museum however she was silent, the loudest thing about her was her feet hitting the ground. She was not interested in coloring so we left. On the way out the staff recommended the butter fly museum to “get out her energy” again she was not yelling or screaming she was just walking loudly she did not touch or run into any art, her behavior was great. I would like to add she was very much enjoying the art, she was stopping at pieces to admire them and whispering “wow” but needless to say we felt unwelcome. I understand it’s a museum and being quiet is the typical etiquette however don’t post that something is for all ages if it’s really just for adults or people who have a more developed ability to control their actions.

Seems like a great place to keep an eye on for fun local and northwestern art. The Montana Natural History Center is a small yet fascinating museum that features interactive exhibits, an art gallery, and a native plant garden. The lifelike taxidermy displays showcase various mammals and birds of Montana, including bears. The highlight of the museum is an exhibit on the Ice Age Floods that shaped the landscapes of the northwest US states. Visitors can also learn about the National Ice Age Floods Trail through a visual display.
This place is wonderful. I was in the area visiting with friends and was invited along to bring a friend's kid to a nature class one morning on my trip. The class was literally for small children but I learned a lot about Osprey and butterflies as well as the sign language for wildfire so I feel like that's a win. The content for kids was so fun and informative and I walked out with a copy of the Field Notes book they had near the entrance which has already helped me learn about and identify some of what I've been photographing on my first ever trip to Montana. The people at the Natural History center are so kind and welcoming and if I had kids this is the exact type of place I'd want them to get to visit. It was great to browse as an adult as well.
We are all able to be citizen scientists if we choose to do so and as someone that has recently reconnected with our planet after forgetting to stop and smell the flowers every once in a while, I loved that they had a definition of what a Naturalist is prominently displayed. We can all be naturalists if we just choose to slow down and observe what's going on around us and it's also very therapeutic. Highly recommended.

We were able to find a nice quiet corner and our server did everything right checking in on us and I have to give them a huge kudos over the Pretzel Ham & Cheese sandwich. I love German beer and have enjoyed it here in the US and in Germany. I do not like leaving negative reviews for a brewery but appreciate other people's candid reviews. The Pilsner and Marzen I sampled both had an oxidized, sherry sweet flavor that was not at all pleasant for the style of beer. Our waiter also charged us for an extra beer which I would assume was an accident but based on his response I'm not so sure... Another negative were the short pours... each beer was shy 2-3 oz as shown in the picture below. Food was actually quite good so 2 stars instead of 1.

Truly the best craft beers in Missoula. True to classic Bavarian style brewing and not leaning on all the superfluous additions and oddball flavors that so many breweries seem to favor.
Every single beer sampled here has been delicious. Highly recommended

Despite what you may read elsewhere, this place does not allow dogs due to some brain dead county ordinance (didn't matter if you were outside). Too bad as the menu and beer looked really interesting. Giving them 5 stars as it was not their fault but I wanted to get the word out. The others who said it is dog friendly? No idea, maybe it depends on who is working.

We 100% drove 9 hours for the sole purpose of visiting this place. We were not disappointed. The reason for the visit is that we are huge fans of German brewing and dabble in it ourselves. While we were visiting another German brewery in Colorado(Zwei) they’d talked about this place and their great beer, which is something to take note of from them as their beer is some of the best German beer I’ve had in the US. So we had a free weekend and made the trip. No matter how you get here, the drive is great and will not disappoint nor will the city. Bayern itself is a very fun atmosphere and is divided into the restaurant upstairs and the brewery downstairs, though you can get beer at both, we only went to the restaurant so not sure if you can get food at both but maybe. The staff were very friendly and did a great job. We were not crazily hungry but we were not passing up a chance at this food so we ordered one entree to split. When the food came out it was divided into two portions on two plates. That alone was awesome, but the food itself was perfect. If you are a fan of German dishes you are going to want to eat here as it was spot on. For beer we did the flight which includes everything they serve so that was perfect as we are both indecisive and want to try everything and that usually ends up being one of each beer in a normal size to accomplish that. The beer was very true to style and all seemed to follow a common base that was built on to spotlight the hops, process, yeast, or additional grain bill. All in all they did a great job on the beer an it is something to be appreciated. This will be a staple of any drive this direction in the future.

We only had one afternoon to go out in Missoula and Bayern Brewery was the one place that piqued our interest enough to go (and stay for several hours). The trational German food and beers drew us in.
We stayed with some appetizers: Gurkensalat (cucumber salad) and Udo's Dragon Soup. The soup was out of this world delicious, even on a hot day. We only ordered a cup but we wish we had ordered the bowl; it was that good! The cucumber salad was good and refreshing but we had to ask for salt & pepper to take it up a notch.
For entrees we got Brat in a Bun and Brat & Sauerkraut. Yep, we love brats!! Both were delicious especially the bun that the brat was in. Surprisingly we had to ask for the 6 sauces (which thankful I had read about online and knew to ask for).
We tried all of their draft beers by ordering flights and some 16 oz glasses. We liked all the beers so much that it was hard to choose a favorite. One note of caution: they only have a brewer's license so each guest is limited to 4 beers per visit. Fine but it would've been nice if they had told us this in advance and not when we were ordering our 5th beer.
They have an outdoor patio which was spacious and inviting despite the smoky and hot weather. The staff went out of their way to inform us on our selections and make us feel welcomed. We are so happy with our decision to visit Bayern.

This was our first time here. Very good style of German beer. Very reasonable priced for their beers and food. The service was good and atmosphere had alot good locals.
We found it interesting that local City Missoula laws only allow you 48 oz. Of beer to consume as a maximum per person. Odd but still enjoyable.
