The Strawbery Banke Museum is a living-history museum spread over 10 acres, showcasing various buildings, gardens and crafts from different periods. It features around 40 buildings, including the Pitt Tavern and Goodwin Mansion that reflect the American revolutionary sentiment and Portsmouth's most prosperous time respectively. The Abbott's Little Corner Store from 1943 is another highlight of this eclectic museum.
This was a major surprise and treat for my wife, mother-in-law and myself. We enjoyed coming here and seeing the history of this area over 5 centuries. We walked around for about 3 hours taking it all in and just submerging ourselves in the past. They have done an amazing job preserving and restoring these homes and buildings. It really gave you a sense of what life was actually like in the different time periods. If you are ever in the area or thinking about coming, this place is a must do!!! Also, say hi to Mrs. Tucker when your there.

This is a great historical park, with period buildings that describe what life was like in another era. Staff is in dress costume to match the time and are very good talking about what occured in the early days of America. In the winter, there is a skating park. Easy walk to shops and restaurants afterward. I thought the day spent there was lovely.

Nice enough open museum for walking around and seeing historic homes. Also nice for learning a bit about the area. I thought it was a bit spendy but know they're using that money for more restoration so it's understandable. If you like historic homes you'll love it. The gardens were also pretty.

Beautifully upkept part of history. Really takes you back in time. All the staff are well educated on the history; it's fascinating to talk to people to capture what times back then were really like. Your admission is good for two days and I fully took advantage of that because there was much to explore. I'll be coming back next year. Highly recommend.

Strawbery Banke is the absolute best. The folks that work there are clearly so passionate about Portsmouth history and they put on the most spectacular events. Our favorite is Ghosts on the Banke, which is just magic. We also recently visited for the Heritage Breeds baby animals day and it was so adorable. Lots of space and grass for kids to run around, explore, and burn some energy. But also really calm and peaceful.

I hadn't walked through here since my kids were younger. The tour for the buildings wasn't open but they had the main building open for skating. We didn't skate but it was a nice walk through with all the lights. I definately recommend a walk through any time of the year.

Unexpected historical sight smack dab in the middle of town! We were shocked when we suddenly were in the parking lot.
Houses are super interesting and restored to different eras. I especially loved the corner store restored to 1945; I don't often see that era represented in living history. On the day we went there were only 2 actors but they were both fabulous. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. And as people have mentioned, the gardens alone are worth the trip. The Victorian children's garden is particularly delightful.

Very cool museum take you back in time, and Charles, was Absolutely great person for the one house. So passionate and very knowledgeable on what went on. Then went to the grocery store. As you walk into the store you hear someone talk not sure where it's from and then you see the lady behind the counter. She was excellent too. Great choices for those 2 houses those people were great. Made the hole visit. Don't forget to by Charles book in the gift area.

I love the history of the place. My favorite parts are the people you met that are "in character" and can tell you about the home, the land, and the shops. It's like being taken back in time. It makes it interactive and very interesting. It's a great place to take thy while family! I visit every summer.

This was a great Museum. It has free and ample parking. It is a good thing the ticket is good for two days as we closed the Museum and went to finish the next morning. There is a lot to see and learn. The people portraying people from the past are extremely good and don't break character.

This is trip back in time. This place is rich with history. I can tell the entire area is well taken care of. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the exhibits as much as the staff. This is a great place for children as well as adults. It's interesting to see how people lived throughout the years. I'm glad this has been able to be preserved us and future generations

Very cool experience that felt like we had gone back in time. You’ll get to tour an entire neighborhood of historic houses that have been preserved and there are a few employees acting in character from different time periods. We went to the corner store and learned how to get our food rations during WWII, we saw chickens, we learned how they cooked and what they ate in even earlier centuries, and we also got a simple demonstration on weaving! We even learned that in the taverns they used to pass around a bowl of rum for everyone to sip on!

A decent way to spend 2 or 3 hours. Lots to see and read here. Many buildings have guides to tell you about the houses. Many historical periods from the 1700s to the 1950s were represented.
A lot was geared to who lived in each of the houses and their belongs. A small portion of the work life was represented, ship building, a store, container making.
I would have liked to learn about the buildings and homes of the Native Americans, but historians always skip the truth of this part of history. I did find one story online about Native Americans in Massachusetts who told of how settlers would find homes they thought were abandoned and take them over. The Native Americans were only off hunting or fishing and came home to find settlers living in their homes. This museum did have one small Native American exhibit, but it lacks the history of the people who lived here first, as well as the buildings and strictures created by them.
Also, the local coastline was filled in to make some neighborhoods, and some neighborhoods now flood. They go on to state how climate change effects things. I found this part to be too much preaching and not what I come to a historical museum to see.
The gift store closer to town was phenomenal, with many fantastic gifts and items to eat. Both traditional and modern types of gifts could be purchased. We tried the old style soda on this visit.
They had fantastic gardens both flower and fruit and vegetables. Some bee hives a fountain and many beautiful out door spaces.
We walked about 3 miles over 2 hours I. An out of the various buildings. We would have stayed longer, but a huge storm came in, and we headed off to a movie. Most of the paths are dirt, so wear comfortable clothing.
Also, they appear to be remodeling some of the homes, so it may be worth a return trip if they keep investing in the place. Not every building is accessible as some are closed or private, and we could never see the best part of the house, the basement. I would love to see the construction from below. But like all historical sites, they show the best and not a dirt dirt floor basement with the fantastic understructeholding up the buildings.

It has been a long time since I toured Strawberry Banke. It is obvious that a lot of good work has been done over the years! Portsmouth is lucky to have this institution. The homes and gardens preserved here are beautiful!
We had beautiful weather the day of our visit, and yet there were not hordes of visitors. You should be able to talk to docents and tour houses without feeling rushed.
Due to the condition of some of the properties, those with mold or dust allergies may want to take note!
Isabel Turk — Google review
Lovely place! So much history and they have tour guides at every house. The house with the flags are the ones that are opened. Some of the house are over 400 years old and they preserved it so nicely. The grocery store had 400 times which is a lot back then compared to 25000 8tems in the average grocery store today. All the staff are nice and friendly. They love to explain everything and tell us the history of the place. I would recommend at least 2 to 3 hours for a quick run. You might need 2 days if you want to see everything.

This was an amazing museum. The family had been to many navel ship museums and this is our first submarine. With me being 6'3" tall it really shows myself and the family how tight spaces are and were for people on subs. They also had another ship sitting in the parking lot. Too bad we couldn't climb through it. The memorial park at the opposite end of the museum was nice. Hope to find and explore more submarine museums on our travels. Nachos.....

Such a great experience to board a retired submarine. To be able to to get a glimpse of the crew life and the tight quarters is surreal. Someone had to do it but it couldn't be me! Exceptionally personable and friendly staff at the entry/gift shop. I'd recommend walking the self-guided tour. It really is something else just seeing the size of it and knowing that there are more like it in the oceans.

This was a great and fascinating part of history. We loved exploring this and learning about not only the USS Albacore but many other subs as well. This was kid friendly and they had a gift shop. We went on a rainy day and it was really nice to have not only myself but the kids learn about a part of their state!

This is a cool place to visit while in Porstmouth, NH. Be warned that it's hard to navigate the inside of the submarine for tall people. I'm 6'4" and really had to contort my body to get through the watertight doors. I couldn't imagine working on the submarine as it is very confining. Kudos to our military service members who choose this profession.

What a great place to visit. The volunteer staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable. The Memory garden reminds us of all those who are on eternal patrol. Seeing inside the Albicore is the best part. This is a must-do place to visit even if you are simply driving through Portsmouth, NH! Well preserved piece of U.S. Naval history! We were on our way up to Maine from Massachusetts and decided to take a two hour break so we grabbed a ticket and spent about an hour walking through the submarine learning about it's specific contributions to U.S. Naval submarine dominance.
The people running the place are super nice and helpful!

A truly interesting and unique experience. My wife and I enjoyed the built in audio tour immensely! Having been to many museum ships before, I was quite impressed by the preservation of the vessel, as well as the quality of the audio tour which is narrated by former crew of the Albacore. The recordings included fascinating insights as well as great anecdotes of life on board. The ability to lay hands on most of the interior of the boat are also greatly appreciated, and help to bring the experience to life. Highly recommended!

We had never been here, but I had to be in the area on business, so we surprised our son with it. He is 13 and loved it. He was listening to the audio points in the tour and just really taking it all in. I expect we will hit it again when we end up in the area. Definitely with the time!

Officially called USS Albacore (AGSS 569), the vessel was built in nearby Portsmouth Naval Yard and was used to conduct underwater experiments. Now open as a museum, the boat was named a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark in 1953 and a National Historic Landmark in 1989, along with belonging to the Historic Naval Ships Association. Tours are self-guided, and visitors press buttons on speakers to hear museum employees and former crew members tell the story of the boat.
Visiting the USS Albacore brings mixed emotions, as exploring the successful research vessel and listening to the well-scripted tour is mostly lighthearted and educational fun, but the grounds are filled with reminders of death. While an overall delightful experience, some visitors might be unsettled by the memorials. Tickets for the U.S.S. Albacore are $11 for adults, $8 for seniors and veterans, $5 for children, and $0 for active duty military and New England Museum Association (NEMA) members (like me!). Like any military submarine, U.S.S. Albacore is not accessible to those using wheelchairs or with limited mobility. A self-guided online tour allows remote visitors to see images of the ship.

Great park with beautiful views. Parking was easy and the walk to the park was nice. We got lucky and not only saw a tug boat go by but also got to see the bridge go up and down. The fountain was cool and it looked like a school was practicing a play at the amphitheater. This park is a must if you want to take a break from driving or walking around.

The air of friendliness and inviting traits of the people of Portsmouth are on display when visiting the area. Prescott Park is no exception. We happened to catch the open-air version of Footloose, the musical, setup on an amazing stage near to the water. Cultural and creatives united to make it all happen and this just feels like the ultimate community for friendly, endearing folks. But the makeup of the area is cool, with a beautiful fountain of Neptune (?) In the center that lights up at night. And although the park isn't seriously well-lit during the night, you don't get the feel like it's Central Park or anything, although the scenery is just as nice. Beautiful place, as is the town. Make sure to stop in on your way north (or south).

Beautiful place. We definitely enjoyed all the beautiful flowers that are in bloom right now. The area is kept very neat and clean. Minus the geese poop all over the place. You definitely have to watch your step so you don't step in some. Other than that it's a great place to find a bench or take a seat next to the beautiful fountains and just enjoy your surroundings. And you might even catch a glimpse of a cute little bunny if your lucky.

We had come into Portsmouth early so we could get parking for the Parade of Lights that was going on that night and by happy accident stumbled upon this area. We first went to the visitors center museum but it was closed in prep for the evening events which were to include a candlelight stroll around the grounds. Also, the visitors center was the area to change into ice skates for the ice skating area next to it so we watched the skaters for a bit and then took a stroll around the grounds but everything but the boathouse next to the pond was closed. We wandered around a bit more, used the public restrooms and wandered off to see more of the town.

This park was so cute! There's a lovely little garden, and if you cross the bridge there's another section where you can walk out to an area that has picnic pavilions. We were in need of a public restroom, but be warned, that is the only reason this park lost a star. It's beautiful here, with a fantastic view but the restrooms were not great to put it mildly.

Been going to this play since I was 7 years old--45 years ago. Don't miss it (the summer play). It's such a well done performance. But it's not just that. You're on a chair, blanket or rented table (only $60 for 4 pp) right alongside Portsmouth Harbor and the beautiful smell of the ocean. Make no mistake-- just because this is a park performance, don't think it's not as professional as one in the Wang Center. It is. We've caught it every single year. And it's steps from Downtown Portsmouth, so come early, find parking (Strawberry Banke for a charge) and walk along all the amazing shops before the play. It's a perfect experience.

The park is absolutely beautiful and the flowers make for a great photo spot.
I'm giving it 3 starts because parking was very difficult and when we visited, there were people taking photos who claimed they had "reserved" the park, which seems very silly with it being a PUBLIC park and very small. The city shouldn't allow for a public place to be rented a closed off for photos.

Had a great summer stroll with the family this past week. Missed the tall ships, but the flowers alone were worth the visit let alone the view. Saw a wild rabbit to top it off.

Visited for the first time recently and the show was good. The place is nice. Somewhat on the small side of venues. Small selection of food but decent selection of drinks. Most of the staff were really nice except for one. She was not nice at all, and probably shouldn't be the first person you see when you walk in if she's just going to be rude to everyone. Even though I had a good time, I probably won't be back.

First time attending this venue to see the musical version of Elf. Beautifully restored theater with great acoustics and comfortable seating. Only negatives were some seats on ground floor had obstructed views due to posts supporting the balcony and they could have used bigger or multiple restrooms. Long lines at intermission, especially for the ladies room. Very good location too, lots of restaurants for dining before a show.

WOW!!!! I had my first experience of attending a concert at The Music Hall. This is an amazing venue!!
I saw the Ace Frehley concert and although Ace was feeling really good, his performance was a bit of a let down. We still enjoyed it and laughed at a lot of his funny comments. The opening band was as one I had not heard of before but enjoyed them, Kore Rozzik.
This venue has a beautiful balcony and I doubt there would be a bad seat anywhere.
The drinks were covered with a lid you could drink from and this was to help prevent spilling. I liked that added touch! The popcorn was fresh and perfectly seasoned.
The bathrooms! Oh my goodness!!! You will be blown away when you walk into them!!!
The bars on the each level were well stocked and also gorgeous.
I’m looking forward to future performances at this venue.
Parking was not much of an issue for us, we arrived early and paid the meter to get us the time needed. The first spot we parked in on the street had a meter that didn’t work. We moved to a parking lot and it was great.

Beautiful venue to catch a show. The acoustics are spectacular; you can hear the performer clearly, no matter where you are seated. The older architecture is stunning and the bathrooms are the cleanest and most elaborate design I have ever seen.

So last night we attended the Princess Bride event with Cary Elwes. The movie was brilliant as always. Cary Elwes was hilarious and brilliant. Here's the problem: we paid for VIP tickets which were supposed to include a meet and greet and a signed copy of Cary's new book. We paid a LOT for this.
I had zero updates from The Music Hall (not in junk mail, either) so we assumed the meet & greet would be afterwards. Nope. It was a few hours before. So we missed out. Absolutely no information was sent to me regarding the timing.
There were at least 10-15 other people who experienced this as well.
We've been coming here for years and have always loved this place. Hopefully we will be issued a refund for the VIP part of our tickets and I'll update my review a bit but this was a huge mistake on their part.
I imagine there will be many more bad reviews like this. It was such a disappointment.

Let's face it, I'm difficult to 'wow'. I've been to a handful of shows, these have far exceeded even my highest expectations. The modern yet tasteful renditions of both classic and modern pieces are so moving, mesmerizing, and transporting. A true testament to the directors, cast & crew's superior artistry and raw talent. Somehow, this intimate theatre has remained a hidden gem, it's frankly baffling that it's not sold out every night. They are setting the bar very high - you will not be disappointed.

I love this intimate little theatre. I recently saw 'Children of Eden' there which is a Stephen Schwartz play (Pippin, Wicked and the list goes on). This latest production is one of the best I have seen there. All of the leads have astounding voices. Especially the actor who plays 'God' and the actress who plays 'Eve'. It is a tongue-in-cheek twist on biblical stories. You don't have to be religious to enjoy the mythological tales of Adam and Even and Noah's Ark. The songs are touching and with most excellent voices it is an evening of joy. I particularly love this theatre because of the intimacy. Depending on where you are seated it's as if the cast is singing directly to you. The sets are always phenomenal for this small space. Many of the cast members are very young and it is great to see people doing something they really love and with great passion. We are very fortunate to have this theatre in our community and if you are a visitor be sure to check out a show. Dollar-for-dollar this is the best entertainment value in Portsmouth, New Hampshire!

We’re big fans of everything we’ve seen at Seacoast Rep and go whenever we can. One of the first things we did after moving to New Hampshire was see Cabaret and got hooked on everything Jason, Alyssa, and the others do. This is an elite production house and company that performs way above expectations. Check them out - you won’t be sorry!

Just saw the music man here last night and I have to say it was one of the most spectacular theater experiences that I had my life. Not only is it a beautiful theater with amazing staff, but the production was incredible, the actors were amazing, the entire experience was one I’ll never forget. They have so many great productions coming up this year, this is a definite must check out if you’re in Portsmouth area!

I saw Rocky Horror on New Years eve. It was my first time seeing this show. I was highly disappointed at the fact that they changed the characters entirely. . . Rocky horror picture show is a cult classic for EXACTLY what it is. Why fix something that isn't broken? I left before the ending. . . With that being said, the cast was talented and fun, I just wish they stayed true to the original characters. . . Not a great first experience for Rocky Horror . . .

The Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden, a National Historic Landmark established in 1763, offers guided tours during the summer season. The mansion showcases Georgian architecture and features an extensive garden for visitors to explore. A knowledgeable guide leads the tour, which lasts around ninety minutes, and highlights the historical significance of the property. In addition to its educational value, the house also boasts a gift shop with merchandise at varying price points and a well-designed website with an online store.
A wonderfully restored house with so much history. Being new to New England, we loved the glimpse into history that our guide gave us. The hand carved wood details and wallpaper that doesn't repeat were some of my favorite features original to the house. The gardens are gorgeous and invite you to just curl up under a tree and never leave. I was fascinated by the pigeon holes. You must ask about them if you go your if for a surprise. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to see a bit of the past.

What aa amazing and lovely house museum. Wow. Stopped in spur of the moment and luckily had Marsha as a tour guide. She was great. House is spectacular and it’s pretty much all accessible. The set of Chinese Chippendale chairs in the parlor was breathtaking. I’ve been to house museums all over England and New England and this one is top of the list. Go, just go!

I enjoyed the tour and learning about the history of the house 🏠 and the people who lived and visited there. The house is well preserved and the belongings, furniture, paintings, utensils, ECT, still being maintained inside was fascinating to see 🙈. I even had a chance to look at the attic. I'm very interested in history, especially of the city of Portsmouth and I enjoyed my visit on Market Square Day. The garden is fantastic! I was told that more flowers 💐🌹 will bloom later. The aroma while walking through the garden reminded me of the gardens I visited in England.
The horse 🐴 chestnut tree that was planted in 1776 to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence is still standing and you can get a horse chestnut 🌰 at the entrance.
If you are into history, I recommend a visit. Tours are every 45 minutes and the house is not open during the winter ❄️.

If you love history and tours of old homes, this is a must stop in Portsmouth. Unlike many such homes, practically every square inch of the house is open on the tour, including the 3rd floor servant quarters and children's bedroom. The house is well furnished and has a treasure trove of interesting, original items. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and open to endless questions. Highly recommend!

I visited the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden back in September during my three-day trip to Portsmouth. This was a fun tour with a highly knowledgeable guide, although the tour ran a bit long due to her enthusiasm. Plan for about ninety minutes to take the full tour and explore the gardens. The house has a great gift shop with souvenirs for every price point, along with a beautifully designed website, and an online shop. This is a must-see for history buffs and families looking to learn more about American history, along with photographers who love furniture, wallpaper, and architectural features.

Great tour, learned alot about life at that time and the relationships in the Moffatt Ladd home. To see the places where the slaves slept and worked was difficult.

Add to your stops! We enjoyed the Moffatt-Ladd House more than we anticipated! The docent led tour was amazing, packed with stories, points of history and specific knowledge on the different families and generations who lived here. Come with your mind open and ready to learn about the home William Whipple, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence lived in - it's a gem in American History. Our total for entry was $36, we're seniors!

The Discover Portsmouth Welcome Center is a cultural hub that showcases regional art and provides information about local attractions in Portsmouth. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there is a short video that offers insights into the city's history. The center features various exhibits throughout the year, such as the recent gingerbread house competition exhibit showcasing talented builders. Additionally, visitors can learn about the city's evolution over time. It serves as a great resource for those interested in learning more about Portsmouth's rich cultural heritage.

A great and informative place to get the scoop on Portsmouth. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with any questions.
There is a short 10 minute video about the history of Portsmouth that you can watch. Very interesting to learn how the city became what it is today.
The center also has various exhibits that change throughout the year. When we went, it was the gingerbread house competition exhibit. So many talented gingerbread builders!! I can't even bake gingerbread let alone build 😁

The exhibit itself is beautiful, I've been before a few times but unfortunately only once have I gotten past the gift shop as the exhibits, for some reason, always tend to be closed off when I come. All the other gallery's in Portsmouth allow others to at least walk through always... so odd and I don't see much of a reason for it. I think the exhibits should always be open, young people need a chance to see the history.
Other than the very odd closed off museum I suppose the gift shop is nice. The African American history section is quite wonderful too.

Water Country Water Park is a sprawling aquatic playground that caters to kids and families alike. The park features an array of themed pools, a thrilling adventure river, numerous dining options, and an abundance of exciting water slides. With its vast offerings, visitors are sure to find something enjoyable no matter their age or preference. Whether you're seeking a relaxing dip in the water or an adrenaline-pumping ride down one of the many exhilarating slides, Water Country Water Park has got you covered.
I love water country! It’s so fun, and the whole family enjoyed! I brought my friend, my 3 boys and their friends, and my daughter and her friend, so we had 11 people with all different ideas of waterpark-fun, but everybody enjoyed!! The food is great, I recommend the french fries, but it is expensive. You can bring your own cooler if you want. They have tons of picnic tables to eat at. Our favorite attractions were the Lazy River, The funnel slide, and the Patriot!! Plus, the lifeguards and workers are so nice! I met three lovely lifeguards! And, when my kids wanted to eat lunch, they wanted burgers, but we saw they were a little over done. The manager of the food stand came over and offered to have someone make us a burger just how we liked it! Water Country is great a place to cool off for the whole fam!!!!

Water Country is still a ton of fun! I haven't been in about 10 years, but I went yesterday, Sunday 7/9/2023 on a 72-degree cloudy day. Because of the fairly low temps and the clouds, the park was VERY quiet. There were only 1,000-1,500 people, as compared to like 4,000-5,000 on a busy day. The longest line was about 10 minutes, and most lines were only 1-2 minutes long. I thought the park was in good but not amazing shape. The wave pool waves have definitely been decreased (probably because of insurance companies). We paid $25 for preferred parking and felt it was worth it over the $20 regular parking. We bought tickets online to save a few bucks and also skip the window lines at the front entrance. The ONLY downside is that over half of the young kid features and water areas were closed (likely due to low staffing). This is VERY disappointing for families, and based on recent reviews, it seems to be happening a lot this summer.

I came here again this year and it was better than last year. All the rides were open except 2 of the little areas for the younger kids. They have other areas to keep the little ones occupied. They were working on the broken areas while we were there. Assuming they will be open again soon. The admission price was fair and parking was a breeze. The extra $5 is worth it for the better parking. There's plenty of areas to bring your own food and drinks if you don't want to spend money on the food huts. The Cabanas are also worth every dollar, especially if you are staying all day and have young ones with you. Overall my family and I had a blast and we will be going back soon.
Alisha Binda (Sassylish922) — Google review
You can expect this place to be packed. Lots of people complaining about that but it is what it is. There were several other problems I had with the place. The park is old and they’re not putting any money into it. The cabanas are super pricey but run down. The carpets are growing moss on them and are disgusting in the cabana area. Our cabana was $169 and didn’t even have a fridge or a safe for valuables. Lockers are included with cabanas but they had no keys for them because “they are all broken” so we couldn’t have one. They then offered to charge us a fee for a locker located elsewhere on the property. We took our chances and luckily nothing was stolen. Parts of the lazy River were roped off causing massive traffic jams and making it a lot less fun. There weren’t enough tubes in areas where they are provided which likely is intentional to encourage people to spend $10 per tube to rent them. Then you have to haul them around with you all day. Moreover, the staff have no idea what’s going on. Every time you ask a question, the kids say they don’t know - even to simple questions like where to get tubes for the water slides. They just don’t know. The wave pool is weirdly split in half so you can’t go in the deep end. This makes it incredibly crowded. I’ve been to their sister park in Florida and this was not the case in their wave pool. Not sure why they do it here. My daughter went on the water slides and noted that there was no one there pacing the ride telling people when to go. She said a few moms were standing there telling kids when to go so they wouldn’t crash. This entire day was very, very expensive and we did have fun but it would have been better if the place was run efficiently and safely and it wasn’t so run down.

A really cool park with some excellent attractions. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice. There were three attractions, two for kids, that were out of service.
It would be really nice if they sold coffee at the park but they do not.
All in all, a fun experience with hopes for more in the future.

Over an hr to park. The line to enter the parking lot is over a mile long. It takes over an hour to get into the park which Closes at 5 PM. This is an absolute waste of money. Just go flush your $ down the toilet.
I went to a concert at Gillette Stadium last night and it was more efficient that this.

Fun rides and slides, family friendly. Plenty of shady areas to relax. Food in the park is no higher than expected in a theme park, but the killer is the drinks! At the time I went it was 4.50 for a fountain drink or bottles water. There are water fountains near a few of the restrooms though and they don't mind if you bring a water bottle. A few rides were closed that I really hoped to go on but overall, it was a fun, relaxing day.

This aient no Disney water park . But for a corporate New England owned place it’s efficient and does the job. A slide /ride for everyone. When we came it was short staffed and the big body slides ex. Patriot was closed . Still a good time , would be a four if rest of slides were open .

I had such a great time. This location is very relaxed. Everyone working was in a good mood. Refills if you buy a slushy cup is 4$ . Fried dough was Massive, and had split it 3 ways. Yes it takes 2 plates side by side to hold it.
I do wish the lines could move a little quicker but this park will have you here from open til close.
What was really nice is you can most definitely bring your own food inside. The picnic tables get taken quick so arrive early as possible.
An you should most definitely always rent a floaty because it will be easier to go on rides.
I hope they add in a few more attractions but this park for its size is actually not bad at all. I would recommend it.

Great Waterpark. Had a great time. Only problem we had was the seating around the wave pool had so many bee's. Whether you had food or not, we were stung twice and it didn't matter what chairs you tried to sit at, there were bees swarming around.

Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion is an 18th-century estate located on the harborfront, offering guided tours of its scenic waterfront trail. The mansion boasts 40 rooms and has a rich history, once owned by a family who brought in a massive anchor. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful views of the harbor and take a short but well-marked trail known as Little Harbor Loop which offers an interesting mix of woods and shoreline for families to explore.
I used to deliver newspapers to someone who lived at what is now the Coolidge Center. It was run down and the property was not as well cared for as it is today. There were no trails except to View Spur. View Spur was a great area for swimming. You can probably still swim there.
The place has improved greatly and is very scenic. There is a small beach 🏖️ that use to be on private property but is now available to the public. The loop trails are a relaxing walk but bring the bug repellent! They are not wheelchair ♿ accessible. I encountered a small snake 🐍 that wasn't afraid to back down.
You can tour part of the mansion. It is under renovation but you can visit several rooms. The guide was informative and information ℹ️ is posted inside.
I recommend a visit, especially if you want to relax.

Managed jointly by New Hampshire State Parks and Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion Association (WCMA), this sprawling waterside mansion was undergoing renovations during my visit. Fortunately, the park ranger at the property, led guests around outside the building and allowed a sneak peek of the newly restored interior. The grounds of Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion are free and open to the public from dawn to dusk every day of the year. The mansion is open during the summer season between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Tours are given on the hour starting from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and last about fifty minutes. Admission was free during renovations, while an admission price between $5 and $0 will go into effect once renovations are complete; check the Visit page on the WCMA website for the somewhat convoluted system. Like most historic buildings, the house is not accessible to those using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. Overall, I greatly enjoyed the truncated tour with its personable and highly enthusiastic guide.

Development is still ongoing, but, what it has to offer makes it worth a visit. Trail along the river, playground Four Tree Island, Portsmouth Outdoor Pool, if it ever opens to non residents, large parking 🅿️ lot, boat ⛵ launch and the commercial pier make the island a popular tourist attraction. I hope they reopen the dog 🐕 walking area. The views of Prescott Park 🏞️ are interesting.
If you are in Portsmouth and have time, I recommend a visit.

Boat launch was good. Military discount $10 is a bonus. Fast water with the tides but they have staff that assist with docking. Be familiar with docking techniques. Roads to the island are tight so bigger boats may have a harder time getting there.

Peirce Island is a lovely place to walk around in the fresh breezes of the Piscataqua River. Portsmouth's decision to install a waste water treatment facility on the east end of the island was quite unfortunate as it cut off access to walking trails which were once off leash areas. No dogs are allowed now, on or off leash, just like nearby Prescott Park. Still, Peirce Island is a great place to bring kids (nice playground), enjoy the picnic shelters and hibachis on "Four Tree Island" with views of the river, the Memorial Bridge, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The short length of beach is a great place to look for sea glass in low tide! In addition there is a public boat launch.

Portsmouth Historical Society's John Paul Jones House
The John Paul Jones House, located in Portsmouth, features rotating exhibits highlighting the town's history. Housed in a 1758 dwelling once occupied by a Colonial naval hero, the museum offers an interesting glimpse into important historical events. Although John Paul Jones did not reside at this location personally, the museum has an impressive collection of artifacts related to his life and legacy. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful garden on-site or take a walking tour of historic Portsmouth and learn more about the country's past.
It has the most beautiful full fall tree, the garden was a great place to sit and relax. We met some nice ladies who shared some great food places for lunch.

If you have an interest in the history of Portsmouth, the Revolutionary War for independence or the diplomatic ending of the Russo Japanese 🗾 war, this is a place to check out.
John Paul Jones, an important figure in American history, who you can research online, wasn't from Portsmouth, but, did take residence here and the artifacts and memorabilia that is on display I personally found very interesting. He even has his own action figures! He actually attacked Britain during the Revolutionary War! That takes hutzpah! It is well maintained and, surprisingly, even on a hot day the place was decently ventilated. The outside gardens are well maintained. There are plenty of benches to sit and relax.
Upstairs there is a room dedicated to the Russo Japanese 🗾 War and the diplomatic signing to the end of the war which occurred in Portsmouth, though technically New Castle. The history of the war is 🗺️ mapped out with mentioning all the players at the conference. Teddy 🧸 Roosevelt, who was not at the negotiations, is also talked about.
The house 🏠 is rumored to be haunted by Jones himself. He was allegedly spotted around the attic, but, I didn't see 🙈 him.
I do recommend a visit. Admission 🎫 is free 🆓 on the first 🥇 Friday of the month during the summer.

We got tickets through their website for a tour and lesson by a very knowledgeable member of the historical society. She covered a variety of topics John Paul Jones, the original owners of the mansion, the freed black man who built the house and how the house evolved over the years. There was also a wonderful exhibit about the Russo Japanese War Truce which occurred in Portsmouth. There was also a lovely exhibit about female artists which focused on handicrafts but was just as beautiful as paintings.
Be sure to get reservations and tickets online during this season. We were kept in small groups of 2 to 6, and we were directed to tour the house in opposite directions to reduce interaction.
Not for limited mobility as stairs were needed to enter the house and explore the upper floor.
Did not see a bathroom so be sure to use one before visiting.
Cisco Brewers Portsmouth is a spacious brewery that offers a variety of house beers on tap, as well as creative pub fare. The venue features a dog-friendly patio and regularly hosts live music events for guests to enjoy. Despite its size, the brewery maintains a local brewpub atmosphere and serves small batch options with distinct craft beer flavors. Additionally, the establishment hosts an annual Brew Fest with numerous beer choices but could use additional food vendors, picnic tables, and restrooms for such a large event.
Everything was great! My burger was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The beer was fantastic. The server was attentive and friendly. That atmosphere was inviting and interesting. It's definitely a place I will go again.

My husband had recommended we eat here because he was a regular when it was Red Hook.
I was definitely not impressed. I ordered the nachos and was satisfied with them and the drinks were good. My husband ordered his burger medium rare and got it so undercooked that he didn't attempt to eat it past the first bite. No issue because food can be remade. What I had an issue with was the fact that the server dropped the food off and we didn't see her again (until after she had walked by us at least 15 times, over 30 minutes later when she saw my husband stand up and speak to the manager). When she saw him talking to the manager she came over to the table and asked me if everything was okay. I showed her the burger and she agreed that it was undercooked. She asked if he wanted it remade but since I had long been done with my meal, I told her it wouldn't need remade.
The manager, Casey, was great and she offered to comp the entire bill but we finished the drinks and my food was fine so we asked to pay for at least part of the bill. We ended up having to go somewhere else for my husband's dinner.

Excellent spot to grab a bite, listen to live music, and enjoy a drink or two. Very relaxed atmosphere with an inviting vibe. Food was excellent as were the drinks. One of the few local breweries that I've been to that pour more than just beer. They were offering specialty fall cocktails when we visited and that made my wife happy😊. I wanted to be able to rate their establishment higher but they were out of pretzels and the specific beer I was hoping for😢. Couldn't let that one slide. Everyone needs pretzels 🥨 with beer🍺. Hopefully next time I stop in I'll get the full experience. Nonetheless do not miss out on this experience. It is a great place to visit.

Has it all - good beer, food, staff and venue. I just wish they would give you a “pint”of beer, 16 oz or close to it as stated on the menu, not one in a 12 oz cup. This is a large brewpub - they’re either open inside or outside (depending on the weather) for now due (July 2022) to not having enough staff to cover both.

Great location - easy to get to. Even though my husband and I live here in Portsmouth, we had never been to this brewery until a few weeks ago. We met up with a group of friends and enjoyed our time there. Nice open and airy space, friendly helpful staff, great variety of appetizers of which our group sampled a number of them. Delicious food! Plenty of parking as well. We will definitely be back!

This is a massive brewery by craft beer standards, but the space is run like a smaller local brewpub. The food is OK, the outside space is huge and fantastic, the beer is better than I remembered, especially the small batch options which have a more craft beer feel and flavor to them. They are really set up well for live music.
Warner House is a historic museum located in northern New England. It was built in 1716 for Archibaild MacPheadris, a successful merchant and ship owner who also invested in Lamprey Iron Works, the first iron works in New Hampshire. The house features Georgian architecture, period furniture, and historic wall murals that showcase the rich history of the region.
A glimpse of Old Portsmouth if you like history. Sometimes talks are scheduled to celebrate that heritage. Small house, much history! Not something to rush through.

Open house with an additional display of cookware from the time period of the day, ie; the heavy metal. Enjoyable, but, brief tour. House and belongings are in great condition. Garden is well maintained. They actually fed me lunch! Either my diet is working to well or they had food for the staff that they didn't want to throw away. History was interesting. A lot to read! Worth a visit!

Or guide was great. It got a little warm in there after a while though.

Amazing tour, about 40 minutes long, the tour guide Peter did an excellent job and was very enthusiastic

The Warner House is well worth visiting! The house is a superb example of Georgian architecture and has a lovely interior with Georgian and Federal furnishings. It features some unique murals, a gorgeous Queen Anne Highboy dresser with inlaid wood, and a ballroom with walls covered in an unusual paint made from blue glass called “smalt.” The house also features a charming garden and a lightning rod installed by Benjamin Franklin. Our tour guide, Mason, was very welcoming and knowledgeable. He gave us a delightful tour!

The MacPheadris-Warner House, c. 1716.
Built for a Scots-Irish sea captain, this is the oldest urban brick house in northern New England. A member of the King's Council, Archibaild MacPheadris was a successful merchant and ship owner, and principal investor for Lamprey Iron Works, the first iron works in New Hampshire. The house passed through family ownership of MacPheadris and Warners until 1932 when it was purchased by the Warner House association. This association, a group of preservationists led by Edith Wendell, later opened a historic house museum.
the MacPheadris-Warner House was declared a National Historic Landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

We had a very informative and enjoyable tour today at the Warner House. Cory was our tour guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable about early American history. The house has been very well preserved and the smaltz walls in the ballroom are worth the trip alone! Thank you, Cory, for a really awesome tour!

Warner House is an amazing historical house museum with the earliest existing wall paintings in America!
What a treasure! Portsmouth NH.

Mason and Rachel gave us a fascinating and detailed tour of this interesting and beautiful historical home. Best tour of all the historical sites we visited. Highlight of our Portsmouth visit.
I have to thank fellow reviewers Whole Heart Homes and Abigail Epplett for their reviews about this historic library! I, like other lifetime residents, didn't know about this library and this treasure of Portsmouth!
I was part of a tour with people from Cape Cod(?) Massachusetts. The tour guide was a volunteer who handles the photography for the library. He was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to.
They have both old and new 🆕 books 📚, old maps, small exhibits, places to sit 🪑 in both the library and reading room. Old paintings and busts adorn the library.
The building is actually composed of two buildings and three floors. The third floor wasn't open to the public. You enter the Athenaeum through the door that is next to Irish and Celtic shoppe that rents out part of the building.
The axe that was used in the Smuttynose Murders is on display in the reading room.
I'm very interested in the history of Portsmouth and I was enjoying my time here.
Facemasks are required. This building is not wheelchair ♿ accessible unless they let you in through the exit. You would only be able to visit the reading rooms on the ground floor.
For history buffs, I recommend a visit! Check the website for times that are available for visiting. Donations accepted.

Very cool old library stuffed on the third floor of a building. You enter through a non-descript door and walk up two flights of stairs. You will be told by the staff that you can't go to the floors above or below unless you are a researcher. Places like this are always staffed by friendly but bossy volunteers.

This gorgeous red brick building has been a staple of Portsmouth culture since 1817 when it opened as a subscription library. I unfortunately arrived too late in the day to enjoy the gallery or archives, but I will have to return on my next trip to Portsmouth.

What a beautiful library which holds an absolute treasure trove of Historical information! And to the wonderful Lady that helped me to find so many tidbits of information to aid in my research of my Penhallow ancestry. I cannot wait to go back!

The staff at the Athenaeum are curious, helpful and a wealth of knowledge. I went in to do very specific research on a historic home and they knew exactly where to direct me to get what I needed. The reading room is quiet and peaceful. An excellent place to learn more about Portsmouth’s rich history. The environment was very inspirational…everyone there was excited to search and find information in a collaborative way.

Somewhat insular and snooty. Prefer Boston Athenaeum. Straightforward to become a full member. More facilities and a finer collection.

Was difficult to find, eventually it turned out we had to use a door right next to the Irish gift shop. The library is impeccable, great archives and reading area. The volunteers are very welcoming and there’s a lovely gallery that changes weekly

I've lived in the Seacoast my entire life and never noticed this place until recently. Inside is mountains of local history in the form of books, curios, and records. You can also rent from the library and sit and read a 50-100 year old book in a nice armchair. Definitely stop by at least once.

I spent two days researching at the archives here. The resources for learning about the area and its people are wonderful, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. This is a great resource for anyone researching Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.
Nice Brewery with a nice beer selection! Friendly staff and family friendly.

An awesome spot in Portsmouth, especially on a nice day. This is an easy 5 stars if their beer was just one notch better. Otherwise they have everything you're looking for in a brewery. Great staff, check! Great location, check! Bring your own food, check! Dogs allowed on the patio, check!

What a great hidden gem in the awesome town of Portsmouth, NH. The brews are tasty and the staff were helpful and cheerful.

A fun brewery that almost felt hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Portsmouth. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't crowded at all. I had a sour that was pretty nice, the music was a little loud for my taste but that's a personal preference.
It looks like they have a really cool beer garden outside in a patio space, but it was a little to cool and dark to venture out there at the time. I'll be sure to bring family and friends by in the summer.

Place seems huge for what they have.(10 beers on tap, but maybe 20 fermenters. The hazy IPA and pale ale were good, but nothing to write home about. Beautiful location, but wish they had flights so I could have tried more.

Great atmosphere, great beer! They have two garage doors that open to view the water and feel the breeze. We will be coming back!

Easy walk from the centre of town. Great beer selection you can enjoy in the beer garden overlooking North Mill Pond

Good beer and fun vibe. They have outdoor seating on the water which is cool. Mostly hoppy, IPA beers but also a few sours and pale ale. Def a strong hops smell in the brewery so be aware of you have a sensitive nose.

Nice brewery with a quiet setback scene. Wish there were flight options, but we got a few half pours to try a handful. Favorites of the group were the Mexican lager and the tropical haze IPA.

I rarely post reviews about places I work (in case people feel as though it renders a review biased), however in the unique case of Great Rhythm I simply cannot move away from the area without giving them a review. I'm moving back up to Burlington, VT (the mecca of the New England craft brewing scene, and where I gained knowledge about this industry in general), so unfortunately my time here has come to an end. Having become well acquainted with every beer and every aspect of this business, I can honestly say that their products are outstanding and their execution (from a service industry standpoint) is exemplary. Every inch of the business is absolutely spotless, due to extensive cleaning (a practice most bars are unfortunately lacking when it comes to NE style IPAs), and the owners always ensure that their staff are the best individuals they can find to represent their company. Hazy, fruity, flavorful and fresh IPAs coupled with exceptionally kind, knowledgeable and attentive staff not only makes the experience of working here pleasurable, but as a customer it ensures a feeling of community, comfort, and relaxation. Great Rhythm is the perfect place to hang with friends, bring a lunch or dinner by and have a flight, do some work on a laptop on one of the couches, or just casually look out the window at the water just outside. If you like NE style IPAs, enjoy supporting local business run by kindhearted, caring and professional individuals, and are looking to dive into the growing seacoast brewing scene, Great Rhythm is a perfect place to start!
Such a chill little spot to go and hang out. The food was delicious and had a nice variety of options, even with a smaller menu. Maybe eight different possible brews (from IPAs to Pale Ales and many others) that we’re both on draft and could be enjoyed in a can. Clean bathrooms. Tentative crew. I’ll be back.

Very impressive. I stopped in here on a recent trip through Portsmouth just because I liked the name. Extremely well made beers, with authentic German styles, something that always makes me happy. Had an excellent bratwurst to go along, and it seemed to have a great, friendly local following on a weekday afternoon. I'll certainly be back on my next trip in the area.

Everything about this place is well done. Starting with the beer which included the best double IPA and kolsch I've had recently. We really enjoyed the snacks and food, which pleased everyone in our group from 6 to 66. The layout is great with nice sized indoor and outdoor spaces. And the staff was very friendly, moving space heaters around so we could eat outside on a mild December day. I hope to return the next time I'm in the area.

Awesome little brewery! When Google says you're there, take a right or a left and go to the end of the street. There's a big bar room and an outside patio. Lots of great beers to choose from.

A hidden gem! I found this place while on a walk, wasn't sure if it was under construction or just closed but once I entered the building it was awesome. Friendly staff, good music going, surprisingly spacious and lots of families too. I can't wait to visit during the warmer seasons and see how the outside setup is. I highly recommend trying the Thai P.A! Definitely check this place out

Very cool little place to hang out. Great staff and awesome beer ! I've seen folks dressed like polar explorers in the outdoor area last year during the height of the pandemic. Customer loyalty, that says ALOT. Keep it up Liars Bench !

My friend and Co worker brought me here 2 years ago! Now, whenever we are working in Portsmouth we have a great lunch!
The beers are OUTRAGEOUS! Dane and his crew of beer enthusiast's have the taps loaded with beer along classic lines, each unique, instant benchmark! Baron Komora Cherry Blossom Stout, Celias' Garden herb, and 16 other offerings! Food is incredible excellent portions super price try everything you'll like it it's great for lunch have a great time don't tell anyone you were there liar's bench PS I'm just a client and I had a great time thank you so much

Nice, established brewery with both a great outdoor and indoor area. Dogs are welcomed in their outside area. The beers I had were crushable. I had a falafel wrap and my wife had hummus and pita (coincidence that we both choose the two middle eastern items on the menu). A bit of a walk from the waterfront(20 mins), but east, pretty and worth it!

This spot is just off the side of the road and you could miss it if you weren't looking (it's next to Washburn Plumbing). Once you get inside, you walk into a loft-style, open ceiling brewery atmosphere with large tabletops and benches to sit at. There are board games and a free foosball table!
Beer selection:
Decent variety (I liked the Saison the best)

Wow. This place started as a small hole-in-the-wall brewery and my goodness it is still an absolutely perfect hole-in-the-wall brewery. The difference from when they opened? An amazing patio, a fun and eccentric food menu, and so many unique styled beers to choose from. The aesthetic is impeccable, the bartenders are basically stand up comedians, the food is a perfect compliment an ice cold bevvy, and the people that come here are the localist of loc dogs. It's the best brewery in Portsmouth and has quickly become a staple of the community.

Great brews, great service! My sister and I stopped here during our Christmas shopping and not only was the beer good (I got the Bermuda Tattoo) but the Margarita was good as well as the hot dogs. Especially since the menu is so unique. Got the Tokyo Dog and I'm disappointed I don't live in the state because it's got to be one of the best hot dogs I've ever had! My sister got the pork schnitzel sandwich, let me have a bite and it was amazing. Thank you so much!!
