The Mirror Lake Inn is a charming, historic hotel in Lake Placid, New York that offers excellent service and views of the Main Street. The resort has been a mainstay of the area since 1883 and features cozy fireplaces and exposed wooden beams in its rooms. Flat-screen TVs, plush bathrobes, and refrigerators are standard in each guest room at this resort hotel. On site dining options include both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
Stay At An Authentic Luxury Adirondack Inn! This hotel is situated in the beautiful town of Lake Placid and offers fantastic views of Mirror Lake and the local mountains. The staff at the Inn were very accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. The rooms were cozy, with a beautiful sitting area that overlooked the lake…the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. Great amenities offered at this property ranging from EV chargers, a ski room, spa & sauna facility and many more. Would highly recommend this hotel to couples or families looking to go on an Adirondack adventure.

Incredible place, been going there for many years usually for Christmas and a summer get away. It has always been perfect in every way, food, amenities, spa services. This trip the snow storm was the topping of our Christmas visit. Logan and Richard were great at the Taste bar. Chelsie kept our room spotless and fresh. Can't wait till our next visit.

Decided to see if the Mirror Lake Inn was as good as it looked....it was even better! Our room was incredible....the lobby was so warm and inviting and was fun to hang out in and meet people. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff was great! The view and setting were 5 star!!

Absolutely stunning resort! The hotel itself is beautiful - not to mention the views of course! My boys loved the indoor pool and hot tub, as well as the chocolate chip cookies provided nightly! The resort is perfectly situated within a short walking distance from the main strip. The beach across the street is lovely and even though we didn't get to swim in the water due to weather, we enjoyed visiting nonetheless. Would highly recommend the Mirror Lake Inn to anyone visiting the Lake Placid area.

This older hotel with lots of wood paneling and an authentic Adirondack atmosphere is on tranquil Mirror Lake (the town of Lake Placid with its 1980 Olympics site is on Mirror Lake, the "Lake Placid" lake is a couple of hundred yards away) with great views of the lake and the town. It's also on a dedicated walkway that circumnavigates the lake and conveniently goes through the older parts of the town. The whole area is blissfully safe (except for skiers--black diamond trails galore).
It has phenomenal staff, a 24hr/365 day wood burning open fireplace in a lounge, spa, indoor pool and hot tub, and the best restaurant in the area.
It's cozy in winter and romantic year round.
We've been visiting for over 25 years with kids and as a couple and have never been disappointed.

Overall it was a beautiful place and experience. For the amount that you pay per night, I expected a more comfortable bed. The bed was so uncomfortable that it was enough to never return overnight. The restaurant was beautiful and had great food. They have one of the best Moscato wines that I've ever tasted. We love the area and the small town feel.

Premier choice for a relaxing stay on Lake Placid. My husband and I chose the Skyward Room that includes a lounge area overlooking the lake and mountains. In the month of February there was dog sledding, ice hockey and beautiful lights lining the streets, a true treat to gaze out at each day. The resort also includes a restaurant, spa, pool/hot tub, sauna, gym, bar, outdoor fire pits, and many areas to enjoy your loved ones. I most enjoyed our evenings after dinner playing checkers by the fire. More so, there are freshly baked cookies available 24/7 for guests. I even found a post card located nearby with the recipe for this delicious treat. Thank you Mirror Lake Inn for your hospitality!

This resort is an absolute dream. My girlfriend and I visited for a weekend during her birthday and the service, attention to detail, and welcoming environment were second to none. The town is awesome for exploring and there are great hikes / trails nearby, but we honestly could’ve spent the time at Mirror Lake Inn and have had no issues. I 100% recommend staying here for a visit to Mirror Lake or Lake Placid. Thanks to the entire staff for a great stay!

Booked through 3rd party (am Hyatt Globalist). Any change and cancellation will incur a $100 processing fee if you make a change way in advance. In my case, I cancel my stay due to a business schedule one month in advance and they still charge the processing fee without my permission.
This is a complete joke. Click a few buttons in the system and charge $100 "processing fee". I highly advise against booking this hotel unless you have a 100% certain schedule.

We had a lovely stay at the Mirror Lake Inn last month. It is a gorgeous, historic inn directly located on the beautiful lake. The staff were wonderful, the breakfast was delicious, and the spa sparkling clean and relaxing. We were a bit disappointed by the behavior of some of the other guests - letting their children run screaming down the halls at 9 PM, throwing footballs across the pool. Not the innkeepers fault, though I do think some monitoring of the pool and hot tub (which was also always full of children splashing and being wild) would be helpful. Otherwise, a lovely stay and we would return!

Loved everything about this place! They were very accommodating when it came to renting skis, late check out, restaurant recommendations and much more. The amenities are top-of-the-line and the service was incredible. I can’t wait to come back next year!! Perfect location walking distance to town quick shuttle ride to the mountain

Extraordinary! I feel compelled to write a 5-star review for Mirror Lake Inn after a 3-night stay in October 2022. Having stayed in many hotels across three continents, this is one hotel that I would consider as perfect. The room and bed were comfortable; even the ground-level room of the Mountain View building saw enough of the Mirror Lake. Pool and SPA were quiet and fun; the two restaurants provided delicious meals. Probably most importantly, the hotel staff were experts of hospitality. They all seemed to have the ability to read the minds of their guests and provided just what what was needed at the right time. We'll return next year!

Very cozy, quiet, and wonderful place for a getaway. The staff were extremely friendly, accommodating, and respectful. The onsite restaurant, The View, was fantastic. Rooms are recently renovated and very clean and comfortable. The multiple common areas around the main hotel are cozy and inviting and encourage relaxation. The pool, spa, and sauna areas were great for a day of refreshment. We will certainly be back!

My husband and I got married last weekend at mirror lake inn because the elopement package seemed great and the views of the lake and mountains are wonderful. The ladies at the spa, who did the couples massage, were great. Olivia, the stylist who did my hair in the salon, was lovely. Erin, who set up the whole event, was great. However, there were a couple things I was disappointed about. My husband found a blood pressure pill by the bed. There’s an ottoman that opens for storage space at the foot of the bed where previous guests probably kept medication. It should probably be checked and cleaned more thoroughly. My 8 year old son could have found it. With that being said, the housekeeper was very nice and made sure we had coffee, creamer and sugar. Also, after the ceremony, we had dinner at the view. The food was good but the service and people were lack luster to put it nicely. I had a photographer there for the ceremony and I thought we could take some pictures at the dinner table before she left. Someone, don’t know if it was the service staff or the chef told my photographer to leave and no one said anything to me about it. Since I hired and paid for her by the hour, someone from the view should have told me. That was not handled well. Finally, our server Seth was not exactly the server you would want for your wedding celebration. His name tag was on upside down and he admitted he forgot my husband’s beer and his water refill. He just seemed like he didn’t want to be there. We didn’t even stay for dessert, because we felt like no one cared and we could celebrate better elsewhere. For the money we spent and the special occasion it was to us, I wish we were served like we were special for just one day. The saddest part is I read a review someone left about how great her elopement was and how her server took a picture of their dinner party and printed it out for all the guests. Not only was that not offered to me but my own photographer got kicked out. Very disappointing to know that not everyone is treated the same or has the same kind of experience.

The room was clean and well-maintained, but its location didn't do justice to the beautiful scenery, making it feel somewhat overpriced. However, I must commend the excellent staff for their hospitality. the highlight is they served the BEST granola I've ever tasted so far!

I've stayed in three different large hotel/lodges in Lake Placid recently and Mirror Lake Inn is by far the best and most charming. You can't beat the view and location. We even had a great view of the lake from our room, which was in the back building. Our room had a lovely little sitting area and was a decent size. All the vintage photos and decor were so charming. The porches, sitting areas, and living rooms are so charming for hanging out to read, have drinks with friends, or just admire the view. The outdoor pool was ok, but the indoor pool and hot tub were spectacular!! Even the gift shop downstairs was cute and had great items! The service at this hotel really is the best, too. I can't wait to go back!

I loved our stay here. Staff's were so friendly and very accommodating. it felt very private and personal. Everything was so well decorated and very cozy with multiple fire places.
Rooms were exceptional with beautiful views. All the wood paneling and cozy interiors made our stay very warm.
If you are looking for somewhere very private and memorable, I would say this is it! Pool and hot pool was perfect after skiing.
I also loved Hotels personal message and small accommodations for our special celebration. Cant wait to return!

Lovely time, great location, beautiful and quaint Inn. Older, lobby offers charm. Rooms as well. But dated. Nice size, but old. Bathroom shower curtain smelled pretty bad. Staff is fantastic, service is great as well! Overall great experience, with potential to be even better with some updates.

Their lack of compassion is astounding. We planned our trip here for years, then my step-father passed away very suddenly mere days before our trip.
The manager refused to accomodate any idea of a refund or credit for our cancellation. I do not reccommend and I will never support this resort even after our family begins to process this loss.

Gorgeous inn. Full of character. Their lobby was beautiful with tons of cozy places to sit as well as complimentary coffee, tea, water, and cookies. The pool and hot tub room was gorgeous. Friendly staff. Parking can be a bit tricky, so its best to plan to just walk around town once you're there. Plenty of awesome businesses in walking distance.

The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex is a popular tourist attraction that offers visitors the chance to experience what Olympic ski jumpers see. It features elevators and lifts that provide a panoramic view of the Adirondacks from atop the 120 Meter jump, which can be accessed via a catwalk. This unique experience is made even more special by the friendly and helpful staff who operate on holidays like Labor Day.
This was so cool. We took skyride to top. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Once you get off you walk to the 120 Meter jump. There's an elevator to take you to the top. Once up in jump you walk out onto a catwalk and you see where Olympians would go down the jump.
You have to be crazy to do this I have so much more respect for these skiers. It is amazing the height there actually going down.
Def visit here if your in area.

The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex is a great place to spend a few hours! The view from the top of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains is spectacular. On top of that you can see ski jumpers in action.
You can purchase tickets online and skip the lines inside. Once you have your ticket you can ride the gondola to the base of the ski jumping towers. From here there are platforms to watch the ski jumpers go down the jumps and fly off into the air.
After that you take an elevator ride to the top of the towers. From here you can look down and see what it’s like to be a ski jumper. The view from the starting point of the jump is amazing.
The views of the surrounding area at the base and top are both great. The staff was helpful and let everyone know where the best views were. It’s also amazing that you might see an Olympian or future Olympian walk right by when you’re here. A can’t miss in Lake Placid!

Awesome and awe inspiring to see how Olympic Ski Jumpers hone their craft! I don't consider myself afraid of heights, but looking down that ski jump in the windy open air gives you a new appreciation for the fear they must overcome!

Really cool place! It’s a nice experience to get to see what the athletes experience right before their jumps. The view from up there is stunning and makes great & memorable pictures! The staff on-site were all super friendly & welcoming. Plan about 45 minutes to one hour for the entire visit.

This was so fun. Even though it was a cool June day we were able to ride the gondola up the hill and then an elevator to the top of the big jump. This was a $20 for a ticket aged 13 and up. The cool thing is you can go up and down as much as you would like. If you want to watch from below you can without riding up, but the ride up is a great view. We got to see Olympic hopefuls practicing on this Saturday up close and personal. We even ride up with one young man, shout out to Duncan.
Dean Dykstra — Google review
This site was very impressive in person. Worth the trip to see. The gondola ride to the jumps was closed the day we visited so we had to drive a short distance down the road to see them up close. We were handed a sliver of paper with "directions," but they were incomplete. "Turn left at the top of the hill" does not explain that after you turn left, you will then turn right in about 200' and follow the road up to the parking lot. Nothing was marked, so we had to u-turn and take a chance making that right turn... as did others we spoke to. I say taking a chance because there were also long driveways along the road, and we weren't sure if we were turning onto a road or into someone's driveway. The 26-storey elevator ride up the jump was impressive, 37 seconds in duration, and very little wait time to go up or down. Very polite staff. Suitable for children. The lookout platforms on the jump are fenced in and have plexiglass also.

Excellent family visit on Labor day 2021. The elevator ride to the top of the "big slide" was open as well as the gift shop. Very unique experience to see what Olympic ski jumpers see. A big thank you to the workers who worked on a holiday so we could see this Lake Placid icon.

We stopped here on our way out of Lake Placid and only did it because people in town said we should. It turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip! The views on the top of the jumps were incredible and they even had kids practicing on the jumps that we were able to watch.

Amazing Olympic venue! You have to do the gondola ride and elevator to the top of the ski jump. I believe it's 26 stories tall. The views are incredible. The notion that people ski jump off of these ramps is crazy. We love our athletes. Go USA!!!

We had the Olympic Venue Passport, so took the tour. Henry, Tate and Evan lead it and did a great job explaining the jumping events, their differences and equipment. Took the gondola up and then elevator to the top of the jump take-off platform. Incredible views and respect for these athletes. At the end of the tour, Evan did an exhibition jump while we stood on the coaches deck.
We returned on Tuesday to watch 4 of the athletes have training jumps from 10-11:30. There were also younger kids doing aerial practice into the pool. Really cool experience at all of the venues. These guys need more support. They are self funded.

Very cool experience. Came in the summer so got to see kids training and jumping into the pool. Didn’t take the lift up to the top, didn’t feel it was worth the money. Got to see a better view at whiteface summit and spend the money on that.
But you can see these cool structures up close!

We went in the beginning of january on a Monday, right before their season starts, so we had the entire place to our selves. The views from the top of the jumps were breathtaking! It's worth the money for the views and photos, but probably not as exciting for kids at least in the off-season. It would have been awesome to see the skiers going down the jumps, but no crowds were great for photos. Also, the glass elevator going up to the top was an added bonus!
Jenna Carter — Google review
We went up to Lake Placid for the 2024 eclipse and I took my kids here for the gondola ride.
I didn't realize we could take the elevator up to the top of one of the ski jump ramps and climb up even further outside, so that was a cool surprise, because what a view!

We had a great visit to ski jump complex. We called ahead to find out when the ski jumping athletes were training and we were able go watch the them train from the beautiful viewing area at the bottom and from the top where we watched from the coaches platform. The staff at the ski jump complex (the woman behind the desk who helped us and the man at the top of the gondola) were the nicest orda employees we have encountered! They were super friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Really enjoyed the experience of feeling how high these jumps are. Being able to stand just above the starting point of a jump was amazing. I would highly recommend buying the $20 ticket to ride the gondola and then the elevator to the top of the 128m jump. Pictures up there are wonderful as well. A great view of Whiteface mountain too.

This is free to go to. However it does cost if you do the sky ride up to the top where the skiers start their jump. Awesome views from top and definitely worth the money. The employees running the sky ride were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Will definitely come back when there is stuff going on in winter months.
Located in Lake Placid, the Herb Brooks Arena is a renowned ice rink that gained global fame when the US men's hockey team clinched the gold medal by defeating the Soviet Union in what became known as the Miracle on Ice game. This historic arena is part of the Lake Placid Olympic Center and boasts three indoor and one outdoor skating arenas.
History lives here. Home of the Miracle on Ice, and also the 1932 Olympics (two separate ice arenas in the complex).
Not a long visit, but a meaningful one

Lake Placid has done a great job maintaining this historic arena, which retains its 1980s charm despite recent renovations to modernize the facility for continued hockey games and events. Stop by, soak in the scene and history and wander through the museum, cafe and art exhibit. There’s a nice balcony with Adirondack chairs overlooking the speed skating oval and mountains. Attended figure skating event during FISU games and it was great. Very easy security screening and ticketing process. Only issue was prices at concession stand inside arena which we're exorbitant. Concession stand outside arena had more reasonable prices and better food however it closed very early, before first intermission which was a head scratcher.

newly updated arena where the miracle on ice 1980 men's Olympic hockey team beat the USSR and countless other miracle's have happened on this rink. there is a new museum where where you can watch a video called "small towns, big dreams" all about how lake placid NY made its mark way before the Olympics leading up to the 1932 and 1980 Olympics...yes that's right lake placid NY has hosted two Olympics. the only place in the world to host it more than once. winter that is anyway. the video will most likely talks about former NY governor and former United States president Franklin delanor Roosevelt having some responsibility into promoting the "forever wild act" which made it illegal to development in the Adirondacks because its a NY state park with 6 billion acres of wild life. FDR also had some involvement in the 1932 winter Olympics games. with the veterans memorial highway up whiteface mountains ski slope. the highway is only accessed during the summer season. don't forget to check out whiteface mountain ski slope, the ski jumps, the bobsled track, and the original Olympic coldren from 1980 out on the horse show grounds in lake placid NY.

The Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum is a sports museum located at 2634 Main Street, Lake Placid, NY 12946. It commemorates the Winter Olympics of 1932 and 1980 and features historical memorabilia related to events such as hockey, skating, and curling. Visitors can participate in various activities including a bobsled experience and public ice skating. The museum currently has a free exhibit open until construction finishes later this year.
More of an anticipatory 5-star rating than a current 5-star. I imagine that this museum will be something else when they finish, and I look forward to coming back. In the meantime, you can still see some pretty cool artifacts in the free exhibit they have open until construction is finished later this year.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is a small museum that packs a big punch. The museum does a great job capturing the history of both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games that were held in Lake Placid. There are several artifacts from both Winter Olympics in the museum.
Some of the coolest items in the museum include Olympic medals from several different Olympic games, Olympic pins, Olympic athlete uniforms, a bobsled simulator, and hockey gear from the 1932 games. The greatest of all items in the museum is definitely the hockey equipment from the 1980 Miracle On Ice Team. Near the “Miracle on Ice” team’s equipment is a silver medal given to the Soviet team that lost that year. Apparently, it was just left behind and no one ever claimed it. No one knows who it belongs to. The film on the 1980 US hockey team is also very good.
Be sure to see the descriptive panels for the items in the museum, they are very well put together. After going through the museum make sure to see the Olympic speed skating track and Olympic hockey rink. The view from the restaurant and porch area of the Olympic center is one of the best in the village of Lake Placid.
The museum is a must see for anyone visiting Lake Placid.

Nice museum. We learned a lot about the Olympics that took place in Lake Placid. There were some fun interactive things for the kids to do. It took us about 1 hour to get through the museum and we read almost everything. Our kids ages 5 and 7 enjoyed it and stayed engaged but they love museums and history.
To give it 5 stars it would be to lower the price for children. I understand the adult price and it’s not just here, it’s most places but I think children even up to age 16 should be given a much bigger discount. They’re always accompanied by adults who are paying full price and I think the cost can deter a lot of ppl with larger families and denies them the opportunity to educate their children on these unique experiences because it gets expensive.

As a family we really enjoyed this museum. My kids 14, 10 were not too familiar with what took place and the significance of 1980 Lake Placid. Overall we enjoyed our experience and if you are interested in sports or American history this a nice little place to visit.

Not too much to see, but interesting. And we'll priced if you could see the ice rinks (in 2021 closed for construction) definitely if you need to choose, go to the ski jumps just down the road a few miles. (Unless you are scared of heights...) Lake placid is still an interesting mountain town. Worth a look. Then go watch Miracle on ice...

Fun and interesting activity to do in Lake Placid. It’s located in the center of the small town, just across mirror lake so it’s nice to just walk around. The view from the second floor is very impressive, you can see all the mountains. The exposition is in a quite small room but it’s nicely divided into sections. Great visual and interesting facts. John Brown Farm State Historic Site is a well-maintained museum dedicated to the life and legacy of abolitionist John Brown. The park offers scenic trails, and visitors can enjoy learning about Brown's involvement in the Abolitionist movement through informative exhibits and knowledgeable tour guides. The Timbuktu exhibit is particularly eye-opening and well-presented. A visit to this historic site is both educational and moving, making it a great day trip from Lake George or Lake Placid.

Visited for the eclipse but was just as engaged by the fascinating and significant history of this almost sacred place. John Brown, who is buried here with much of his family and supporters, was centuries ahead of his time in terms of race relations and truly realizing the lofty promises set forth in our founding documents. And this museum captures the essence of his efforts with concise, straightforward exhibits that visually engage and contextualize the events that immortalized John Brown in the annals of U.S. history.

Great stop, especially for free. It's weird to have this pastoral farm and history, with two huge ski jump towers looming overhead, but I guess they loom over everything for a good distance!
There's a farmhouse, a small pond, and a barn with exhibits on John Brown's life and the Timbucktoo venture. It hink there is also a good trail system that leaves from here. Definitely worth a stop by, and not history that you hear everyday.

One of the most important and beautiful historic site's I have have ever been too. The John Brown Farm State Historic Site is surrounded by the serene Adirondack Mountains. John Brown lived at the farm and was later buried here. The site includes the farmhouse where he lived, his gravesite, a memorial, a barn, hiking trails, and a visitor center.
Brown lived at the house for less than a year, and it was actually his family who lived at the farm. Brown moved to the area because he was broke and needed a place where his family would be safe. Gerrit Smith was an abolitionist who was giving away land to blacks in the Adirondacks agreed to give John Brown 40 acres and this became Brown's farm in the Adirondacks. Brown knew that he would not spend much time here was in Kansas fighting against slavery in the 1850's.
The house does have artifacts from John Brown's time there. The floorboards in the house are original. Other parts of it have been renovated for historic preservation. In the barn, there is an exhibit about Timbuctoo, the community of freed slaves that John Brown's house was a part of.
Tours of the house are given at the top of the hour. The hiking trails in the area are scenic and the visitor center has trail maps for them. You can visit the grounds for free and donations are accepted.
A very important site that should be viewed by all.

A beautiful place and a part of American history. Bitter and difficult as it may be, it is a place all should visit. I've visited many times over the years, most recently during February 2023, when the park and buildings themselves are not open. It has a character all its own in winter. It reminds one how tough the Adirondacks must have been to live in during the winter in the 1850s.

While vacationing in the area, we decided to stop at the historical John Brown Farm. When you first pull up to the site, you notice the bronze statue of Brown with an African American boy. Memorial Field has many cards posted with various instances of injustice that have taken place over time to people and it just made me so said to read some of them. It made me stop and think that at any time, no matter the situation, that that could have been me. As you walk down the path that takes you to the house, the small cemetary of where Brown is buried is to the left. A large bolder with two bronze placards tells of who all is buried with Brown. Across from the bolder are other grave markers, those of his children. Upon entering the house, the parlor is to your right. The room is modestly furnished and the only two pieces that actually belong to Brown and his wife are the wooden desk and bookcase. The other pieces allow you to get a sense of, what the furnishing may have looked like during that time. If time permits, I would love to take another tour of the house and barn before we leave the area to go back home, mostly to take more photos of inside the home and barn. If you love history then you definitely want to stop and check it out. Definetly worth stopping. Operate on donations from the public.

Wow. Thank you for those who chose to donate such a gift to recognize a man who stood up. I will be back. Peaceful, powerful and well preserved.
Peninsula Trails offers simple, flat routes that pass along the beautiful Lake Placid shore and through the woods. The largest loop is around 2 miles, making it a quick and enjoyable hike for families. The main trail is well-developed and mostly dry, resembling an old service road. Visitors can expect muddy sections along the shore, especially after snowfall. Waterproof shoes are recommended for these areas.
Beautiful trails along the shore of Lake Placid, up the ridge and in the woods. We went the day after one of the first snows of the season in November. The trail along the shore was quite muddy but passable. Wear waterproof shoes, for sure. Gorgeous and easy trail - our group included kids ages 4, 6 and 10, and everyone was able to complete with minimal complaints. The main Peninsula Trail is likely an old service road so it is well developed and mostly dry. We did not do the ridge trail but looked interesting. We did a 2.5-3 mile loop Peninsula trail to Boundary Trail, connecting to the Lake Shore Trail and back to the main road/trail to the parking lot. It took a little over an hour and provided beautiful views of the lake. We heard a couple of motorboats which could be a bummer during the summer season if they are nonstop (likely). Also there is probably some good fishing at the dam - we didn't bring our gear this time but made a mental note not to forget it next time. A great hike for all ages!

This was the perfect trail for my family to enjoy! It was flat, yet beautiful. We brought microspikes which were needed as the trail was all ice. The lake and mountain views were gorgeous. We took the peninsula trail to the water and then hiked a short distance to the bridge then returned back to the shore trail and walked along the lake. Then we took the peninsula trail back. Highly recommend!

Excellent beginner trail for a nature walk. Direct access to Lake Placid on the trail (hit Boundary Trail for a great view). Sneaker friendly (but please no flip-flops). Lots of shade make it a great choice on hot sunny days.

Very nice system of trails. We walked without seeing anyone else for the first half and then very limited people after. This was somewhat surprising as the parking area was filled and over flowing down the road when we arrived. The views are modest but it is such a nice trail that it more than makes up for that.

Nice simple trails that are incredibly flat. Route passes over lake shore for a section, very beautiful. I appreciated being able to check out the lake in peace here. There's a lake Placid Dam in this place that I didn't know about, that was a nice place to stop. Doing the largest loop here seems to be around 2 miles or so. We were in and out in under an hour. Parking is on the road near a gate where this land starts.
There's a trail kiosk where one can sign in and view the map. The occasional information signs were nice. There were also small lettered or numbered indicators that I guess matched up to some guide that we didn't have. The trails here must match up with some that leave the area, there were a bunch of trail spurs leaving the ones marked on the map.
The trail was clear, wide, and dry. Since there's so much water around, there were a lot of small bugs when we were here. We rushed through. But we went during the last few hours of light, in June. I'm sure it's fine any other time of year.

Shaded forest hike with views of the Lake. Trails were well maintained with some boulders, lots of roots, and muddy in places. Seeing the wide variety of fungus growing throughout was the most interesting aspect of this trail. Very easy for the whole family and almost no elevation changes. Very limited parking at trailhead.

This is a hidden treasure. If you stay in town this is perfect for a short trail run with stunning views of lake placid. It’s about a 1.5 mile run from town then another 2 miles or so of trail running depending which trails you take and a then another 1.5 back to town. The hill up on the road there from town is a great work out too.
Located in the heart of Lake Placid, The Olympic Center is a major attraction for sports enthusiasts and history buffs alike. The center houses the Lake Placid Olympic Museum, which showcases an extensive collection of Olympic memorabilia from the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. Visitors can explore exhibitions featuring items such as coach Herb Brooks's suit, monogrammed ice skates, and historic Olympic torches.
The new do over is excellent! Took in the final game of the hockey ECAC's. Over 4500 attendants and it wasn't really crowded. Great place.

The museum is worth the cost, and the artifacts and documentary are fascinating. Even with the Can/Am going on while we were there, there wasn't a long wait. We also got to watch several hockey games for free. The 1980s rink is impressive.

A must-stop if you are an American visiting Lake Placid. Revisiting the site of the "Miracle On Ice" is still pretty cool. All that being said, if you're not a sports nut, or live in another country, you can probably take a pass.

Words cannot come close to how wonderful this place is. First, you can go in the Herb Brooks Arena, including the locker room FOR FREE. This is worth the price of admission alone! For long stretches you might have the arena to yourself. It is so quiet you can feel like you are at the 1980 game...The museum is very well done and the Miracle on Ice section will bring you to tears. Great selection of medals, clothing and short, educational descriptions. The staff will answer all of your questions in a very friendly way. This is a must-see and a highlight of this region.

We're 86 years late but hey, we finally made it to the 1932 Olympic winter games! Considering it's almost 90 yrs old, the 1932 rink is in pretty good shape. Old school sure but it still looks world-class and still used as training grounds of athletes.
The building's facade on the outside looks regal and classic so it should remain relevant for years to come. Who knows, maybe Lake Placid would host yet another olympiad soon enough.

Built for the Winter Olympics in 1980, this multi-purpose area is best known for hosting the Miracle on Ice game.
Lake Placid is gorgeous all year-round, but it's particularly popular in the winter and has been for more than a century. In fact, Lake Placid became the winter sports capital of America when it hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932, and then again in 1980.
you can’t even talk about Lake Placid without talking about sports. Everywhere we went to Lake Placid, people were cycling, running, climbing, and hiking. This active lifestyle has been breaded over the last 100 years.
Inside the center-
Herb Brooks Arena is such an entertaining indoor stuff to do when it’s raining or cold. try to learn about competitions past including the famous “Miracle on Ice”.
Lake Placid Olympic Museum - Established in 1994, this treasure trove commemorates the Winter Olympic games in 1932 and 1980. one of the most family-friendly downtown spots to visit in Lake Placid.
Learn the history of the Lake Placid Center in depth at its museum through videos, memorabilia from past games, and they frequently display new exhibits.
Parking: Just near to Olympic Center or mirror lake, there is a municipal parking area, of course on busy days, it's hard to get a spot, but I would say, wait there and grab a spot because it's damn cheap...!
50 cents per hour. on the street side, it's $2/hr (that is also cheap) but 50 cents /hr. is dirt cheap. and after 6 it was free (Saturday it was)

There's something charming about exploring a piece of history tucked away in a quaint village. It's like taking a step back in time and experiencing a slice of the past firsthand. Even if the experience may not always be perfect, there's a certain nostalgia and whimsy that comes with it. So here's to embracing the quirks and imperfections, and reveling in the unique character of these historical gems!

This is a great set of rinks to watch and play at. One of the rinks, the worst of the three, is by no means bad but the other two are just phenomenal. The history they have all over the walls is interesting to see and the staff was helpful and friendly. The food is good and they know how to zambo in the ice, meaning no huge puddles to soak players.

Uihlein Sugar Maple Field Station and Gift Shop of Cornell University
I would highly recommend walking the Uihlein Maple forest trails, which are free and open to the public. We were fortunate to meet Adam, the director as we were leaving the trailhead and he gave us a tour of the facilities and provided interesting information on the maple and birch syrup production and research centre. It was the highight of our day. It was the perfect time for a visit as the maple syrup production started a few weeks ago. We're looking forward to sample our purchases. Thank you Adam.

The Cornell Maple Research farm is a very cool place to visit. If you visit you will learn all about the process and history of making Maple products. They use some cool methods in harvesting and producing the syrup, including vaccume tubes and reverse osmosis. They sell both maple syrup and Birch syrup in their gift shop. If you are as luck as we were there will be a super friendly dog hanging out too.

A friend of mine told me about this church. I always missed something when I came to Dax, I have to drive here for a few hours. Now I have everything I need - something for my soul and body, and I'm far from the city - a perfect combo... church .it is very nice, the architect did a great job! If you are Catholic, you came here to hike, climb or do other outdoor activities, and you are worried that you will not be able to attend mass at home, you have the perfect solution almost in the center of Lake Placid! I usually visit on Saturdays, mass is at 5:30 pm. The parishioners seem nice and friendly. I hope that someone will come here after reading...

I am traveling and in Lake Placid and attend mass here at 8AM. I thought it was a beautiful church, the acoustics were wonderful and it felt like it surrounded me. I really liked fathers homilie also. I love attending other churches when I travel. Once I was told you recieve extra grace experiencing new churches. It feels like it as I connect with the body of christ in a new community like this and take in all the beauty and wonder.
Other wise it was easy to find, and parking was good!

Awesome place to spend the day cross country skiing. Prices are very reasonable for a trail pass.
They have a lodge where they serve food and drinks. The menu features burgers and even food for vegetarians/vegans. The vegan chili is delicious.
You can rent equipment and purchase your own new/used merchandise as well.

Quick service at walk up window. We received trail voucher included in our stay at High Peaks Resort. Trails were well maintained. One of my daughters described trail through a treed area as Narnia ;) We were given a map and some guidance as to snowshoe vs xc ski trails. Thoroughly enjoyed our outing! To keep with social distancing we did not enter shop nor restaurant.

Great place to cross country ski or snowshoe just outside of Lake Placid. Small shop with rentals and a nice looking lodge connected right to the shop. MANY interconnected trails here, and some you can even take to Keene (5.25 miles) or Mirror Lake (6+miles). Really friendly staff and trails very quiet and peaceful despite the parking lot being pretty full when we arrived. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Skied here for the first time ever, and was so happy we did! I know this review is coming at the end of private ownership, but still wanted to say what a great place. The staff members we interacted with were so friendly, helpful and inviting. Being spring skiing, the water in the brook was flowing with runoff, and the trails were incredibly peaceful. My wife and I had such relaxing runs around the trails. We were skiing classic, and it was actually nice to have only other classic skiers out with us. Just created a slower and more aligned experience for the time we were there. There was also a wood ski gathering happening one of the days. Seemed like a tight group, all very friendly and easy-going folks. Looked like a fun group. Great place with a friendly vibe, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and amazing trail system.

Spectacular old church nestled in Lake Placid. The facility has beautiful strain glass windows. It is worth the visit to this church to worship God in the Adirondack mountains where God's handwork is in full display. They are currently closing in on their Capital Campaign. So...... if you need a place to sent in 5 or 20 bucks to support God's plan for this congregation you might to include them in your giving plan!

The most beautiful little church I have ever been in. Gorgeous woodwork, amazingly beautiful stained glass windows, and seems very cozy and welcoming due to its size.
Popped in for a visit on a very rainy day just to be in awe of its beauty. I could have spent hours sitting in the chapel and drinking in the atmosphere. Simply one of the loveliest places one could spend time contemplating life.
Although I am not religious, this church really gives off a warmth, and I hope one day to visit again and attend a service.
A must see if you are in or near Lake Placid, and worth the trip from anywhere.
Word of caution: you can easily miss seeing this driving down the main drag in Lake Placid. It sits up on a small hill, and has been kind of crowded by all the touristy places that have grown up around it.
