The Washington State Capitol Building, constructed in 1928, is a legislative edifice located on a spacious twelve-acre property. It provides complimentary guided tours to visitors.
Priest Point Park is a 314-acre city park with a saltwater shoreline, hiking trails, ball courts, playground and rose garden. The park has easy-to-navigate clear trails that showcase beautiful trees which have tipped off the ledge and onto the beach yet still remain alive including one confusing madrona tree. This free park offers many access points to short trails for beach lovers along with ample parking.
Free city park! Phenomenal. Lots of short trails, beach access points, and even parking.
Went on a foggy Saturday morning and had much of the trail to myself. It was a wonderful intro to PNW outdoors.

This has long been one of my favorite parks in Olympia WA. It's got a wonderful beach that goes for miles. You can always find lots of ducks and some osprey chirping about. The park is filled with lots and lots of trees and they have a playground for the kids. There's so many picnic areas that I don't think that I can count them all. There's also some nature trails to walk and several covered spots if you're planning a family get together, it's a good place to go. when you arrive in the park there's a shelter to the right and parking to the left. You also have the option of going to the left across the bridge which would lead down to the beach access points. If you were to go to the right you will find a lot of wooded areas and walking trails. Plenty of picnic benches throughout the park. The large private bathrooms are located just next to the playground which has another very large covered structure with many picnic benches for kids parties and gatherings etc. it's a dog friendly park as well so a wonderful place to get your poochers, smoochers, kibble and bits (not my dogs names) outside for walkies and zoomies across the beach. Hope this helps and that you enjoy yourself at Squaxin Park 🏞️

Easy clear trails. Beautiful trees tipped off the ledge and onto the beach that are amazingly still alive and thriving including one very confusing madrona. Only the right side of is alive. The left is very dead and crumbling!

There's always something happening at the pavilion but it never feels as crowded as it is since there's plenty of paths to walk. The playground is decent sized and even has a swing for special needs children. This is a favorite for the whole family as it gets everyone outdoors, beach walks for pups and play structures to help the kids unwind too. There's a couple kitchen pavilions and tons of picnic tables so as the weather warms maybe we'll leverage those as well on our outings.

Went on a 2 hour walk through this beautiful park. One thing to be aware of is it extends over the highway so they are two entrances. Walked all thru the hills and down to beach totalling close to 5 miles

Nice park close to Olympia. Spread out with lots of trees and a part area for kids. Bathrooms were clean and the green areas were calming. Wasn't to crowded on 04July, we had plenty of room.

Beautiful location - the beach homes are gorgeous, the area is very clean and the day we visited it was super peaceful and quiet. Lots of wildlife - the herons and hawks were out, tiny crabs abundant. Very relaxing place to chill at. The hiking trail is stunning and super clean!

What a beautiful walk through the forest area down the walkways across the bridge. There were a lot of stairs going up going down going up, and then you would come to a bridge, and you go cross the bridge.
It was a wonderful hike. The scenery was beautiful, and the day was perfect.

05/13/23: it was my second time here after 3 years but nothing changed much. The sceneries were in great preservation with plenty of beautiful flowers and trees. I enjoyed the peace and calm this nature brought to us. A good piece of advice is to keep driving past the entrance and go deeper into the park so that you can save some energy. Hopefully, I could go back to this amazing place soon

Well this was a unique little find. We heard about Telephone in the Wind, a rotary phone on a slab of wood behind a huge tree toward the back of the park for privacy. The gist of the phone is to call lost loved ones to help with the healing process. Get ready to get your heart strings pulled on that one.
As for the park itself, it had plenty of parking spots and clean bathrooms (I'm assuming they were that clean because of the spiders guarding them on the outside). There was a rose garden that we didn't have a chance to explore but looked pretty awesome as we drove by it. A huge jungle gym for the kids that was tempting this adult *points to myself*. Dog friendly.
Would love to explore this park some more.

Percival Landing Park is a picturesque waterfront public space located in Olympia. It features a well-equipped playground, picnic areas, and a boardwalk that offers access to nearby restaurants. The park is bustling with activity, including people walking their dogs, artists performing music, couples holding hands and children playing on the swings. There are ample opportunities for walks by the water while enjoying views of boats and scenic parks. Additionally, there are plenty of places to grab food or drinks if desired.
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Percival Landing Park [PLP] is a beautiful, modern, and well-endowed park that calls Olympia its home.
I enjoyed my walk. The park is full of life- from folks walking their dogs, to artists playing music, to couples holding hands, to kids having a blast on the swing.
I recommend this gem of a park to anyone that loves the great outdoors. Go, experience PLP yourself, and you'll see what I mean.

We love Percival Landing. The park is fun for all ages and the bathrooms are well maintained. It's a great boardwalk to walk along, bring your pup for a walk as well.
Many local artists have art installations to enjoy as well. Access to the water front via the marina makes for a great location for photos. We feel lucky to live in the PNW.

Amazing clean pet friendly and kids friendly park! Great view of the water, big playground, and lots of walking paths. Lots of grass area to picnic. Public restroom available and tons of restaurants nearby. Beautiful treas and plants everywhere. There was one suspicious female that is going through the park waste bins and making a mess so just be aware. Stay alert while having fun.

My family chose this park for an outing and we were not disappointed. The view was beautiful, it wasn't really busy at all, and the playground and bathrooms were clean! Walking the boardwalk was very refreshing. It's dog friendly as long as they're leashed. We also enjoyed the artwork peppered throughout our walk. I highly recommend this park.

Clean and peaceful place with fantastic views of the capitol building and the cascade mountain range. There's a publicly accessible, free, 3 story tower you can walk the stairs up for even better views, and a dock everyone can go on for a closer look at the water. Plenty of benches/seating available for rest breaks or a nice lunch.

I love walking on this boardwalk along the Sound. The marina is beautiful, there's usually some good wildlife watching, and on a clear day you can see the Olympics in the distance. There's a playground and a large lawn for running around, perfect for kids. The public restrooms have been really clean, too, the times I've used them. 2 hours of free parking in the small lot if you can find a spot. There are also some sculptures that add a touch of "artsy" to the experience, too.

Nice place for a walk. There are a few restaurants to choose from. I didn't see any public bathrooms. Homeless people are around in the common areas but they weren't bothering anyone. No police or security around even though it seems to be a high end environment. 🙄 With the amount of homeless and crime in the area I would feel better with a sense on security.

We've adored this part of living here - a 10-minute drive gets us to a well-maintained boardwalk where we can smell salt in the air, watch boats glide by, and see the occasional sea critter. It's an urban shore, so is sometimes a little crowded, but sometimes just enough folks to feel connected without overwhelm. My 🐕 loves the smells and the friendly walkers.

so awesome it's insane. I've been going here for a while (I'm 16, about to be 17) and not only have a conciousness for water conservation that I can very much attribute to this place, but also a lot of very fond memories. I also got a cool pencil AND a cool ruler there which is also really cool. This place also helped me pass a class recently because it teaches about water pollution in super memorable ways.

Me and my boyfriend wanted to go just for a fun day trip to a museum but we were very dismissed and given weird looks because we didn’t have children of our own even though the website said for all ages. Front desk was
Not helpful at all and she said that a staff member needed to be with us in order to go around the museum like we were going to be a threat to children. I was very uncomfortable and so was my boyfriend so we just left.

The Hands On Children's Museum provides interactive exhibits and educational programs that focus on both art and science for children of all ages. The facility offers various areas for imaginative play, with a specific section dedicated to children aged four and under. Outdoor activities include a large pebbled play area with trucks and flowing water, suitable for all age groups. The museum is recommended as a great place to spend several hours, particularly during weekdays in mid-afternoon when younger children are less likely to be present.
This place is the best! Keeps kids entertained for hours. It's best for younger kids but older kids have fun also. Kids can pretend to shop for groceries, pick veggies, serve ice cream, and make pizza. The emergency services room has an interactive ambulance, fire truck, police car and helicopter. There are too many activities to list all of them here!!

It's definitely worth visiting! The staff is amazing, I took cash out so I didn't need to use my card when we visited the gift shop, but I was short 84 cents no biggie was gonna use my card, but the lady insisted I not use my card for such a small amount and she would cover it. I bought my tickets off the website for $15, but there is an ebt discount for $3 a ticket. The exhibits were great, and my son had a blast! Will definitely b back!

Love this place for the kids. We've been coming almost every 2 months for 1.5 years (we live 40 min away, otherwise we would come a lot more). My boys are almost 4 years apart (4 & 7.5) but they both love it.
I've taken pictures of the food boards, since there is nowhere else you can find prices. The food is pretty yummy, and not priced like amusement park food either.

This is such a fun place for both younger and older children! We loved all the fun areas for imaginative play downstairs and all the creative areas upstairs, including a fun part exclusively for ages 4 and under. The outdoors is also a blast for all ages, especially with the large pebbled play area with trucks and water flowing. I highly recommend you check it out at least once and be prepared to stay for as many hours as your children will last. A weekday mid-afternoon seems to be a good time to come when the youngest children tend to not be here and it's mainly older children who no longer nap. If we didn't live over an hour away, we'd for sure become members!

There are all kinds of areas to explore for kids of various ages.
Outside there's a track to ride a tricycle around, there's a ship, there was areas to build your own mud pie, and areas to climb and play. Inside there was some slides, play areas, and other interesting things.
Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. We were just in Olympia one night, this was a perfect activity.

Having a young child in Washington means dealing with rain a lot of the time. Now don't get me wrong, I love rainy-day adventures even outside. But sometimes it's great even on sunny days to let your kid just run around and safely have a blast while learning.
I have been attending the Hands-On Museum for over 20 years with my older children and now my young son. It's great to see how much it has changed and the location where it's at is a beautiful structure. Proud to have been part of the fundraising a long time ago for this location. My son loves running around and so do I because I get to just be a child with him again and see the things that he sees.
It can be loud and chaotic, but it goes with the place and it's accepted and expected. Fortunately for those who have sensory issues, they do have quiet hours. A great place for a birthday party or to take a grandchild or a niece or a nephew as the fun Aunt or Uncle. You can go as a one time visit but honestly a membership pays off in 1 or 2 visits.
In the summer it has a great water structure that the kids love to just splash and get wet in. Not intended for swimming, just for dipping your feet and simply being a child or with child like wonder. I'd recommend you attend with a child, or cool off elsewhere in warm months, it's just creepy otherwise hanging out around young children and their family.

Great place! So happy to see more businesses having programs that cater to single income families on state funded programs. What would have cost me over 60 dollars cost under 10, just to get in the doors. You can easily spend all day with the family. Hope to be back soon, we came at a time of day that my littles would normally be napping and we became overwhelmed pretty quickly between the things to see and other children, etc. Thank you for being such a fantastic place. Truly.
Tolmie State Park is a beloved destination that boasts both a beach and saltwater marsh. It is known for its popularity among scuba divers, swimmers, and fishers, as well as the numerous hiking opportunities available. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities including short hikes through the woods, picnicking with family or friends at the designated areas, or simply unwinding in nature.
I've gone to this park since I was a little girl, and every time I go it gets a little more beautiful. Clean bathrooms, easy parking (don't forget your discovery pass! If you do you can buy a day pass at a small machine in the parking lot, $10 for the day.) Short and quaint trails that lead you back down to the beach. Picnic tables for family get togethers. Beautiful state park with beach view, the access to the beach just next to the parking, you can't miss it.
Discover Pass is required here, if you don't bring one, you can buy the daily at the station next to parking.
Parking area is a bit small though, plan to come earlier if you can.
Bathroom is available, but here not provide the water faucet outside so you can wash the sands off.
Finding clams are not easy, I saw some Manilas, however most of them are undersize, so not an ideal place if you looking for shellfish. Oysters are same, not many left.
Other than that, the seaside view is awesome, enjoy the scenery view.

First time there to hike in well over a decade. I just adopted the new friend in the images. My advice for this park is bring water, rubber boots and munchies. Except for the more hardy one of you, this is a 3.5 out of 5 hike. It can get intense in places. There's signs around to read that can provide a needed break. Be sure to drink as well as breathe at those signs.
It can be really muddy up there. Tennis shoes are NOT recommended. Water proof hiking or rubber boots are the best options.
The paths are narrow in places so clean up after your pet because there's not much room as it is.
The beach is awesome! Low or high tide, each has its own draw. Sitting there watching the sail boats, the birds and the people enjoying themselves just makes our day!

Here in Washington everything is beautiful during the spring and summer. It is considered a small state park but the trails are quite long considering the fact that it can take a few hours for hiking on the multiple trails. The day we went there it was quite nice and sunny, and the trails aren’t difficult to walk on. It was a little bit muddy but not muddy to the point where you’d slip. The beach had seaweed everywhere and you can see many people looking around for shellfish and clams. They also had bathrooms that were accessible in case you needed to go. Overall the hike was quite nice and Happy New Year!! :D

Went to experience lowest tide of the year on a local beach. The park was busy as it was Independence Day. Many folks were collecting oysters and digging clams. Please remember to return the sand back into the hole you dig, I saw an eldery woman unknowingly step into an open hole and she almost fell down! Watch where you step as the exposed beach is teeming with sea life and many of the crabs are smaller than a thumbnail! Replace any rocks you might overturn as it is most likely some sea creature's home. You may see bat boxes that have been placed high on some trees. Restrooms with running water are available. there are some picnic tables near the lower parking lot, the restrooms and on the beach. I understand that there are a few mooring buoys if you would like to come by boat.

If you are looking for a good saltwater beach in Thurston County this is the one! It was a little confusing how to access the shoreline with ease. The first parking area (small loop) is off to the right as you come in. Looked like a couple trails leading down to the beach. This is bit of a hike. If you stay to the LEFT instead as you access the park it will take you to the lower parking level with MUCH easier access to the shore. No steps and steady ground all the way to the beach. This should be easily accessed with mobility scooters or if you have help with somebody pushing you in a wheelchair. There is just a little bit of a hill you can see in my pictures. There are picnic tables throughout the area and off to the right as you get to the beach, which are nestled under the trees. Easily can spend the day down there. Enjoy!

Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm is a great place to visit for cider, fritters, and bags of grain to feed the animals. First time there, good cider, some fresh fruit and lots for fresh freezer jams. Old time place, my son in law went there for years growing up around there, maybe the same goats , chickens, rabbits , ducks , peacocks, guinea pigs in some of the same cages and pens from the days long passed. It was still a treat to take his baby girl there, our grandbaby girl, and just walk around and take it all in.!!! Fun times , pictures on the 75cent rock' in hydro, precious!!

This place needs to be shut down. They don’t take care of their animals and it’s really just a sad experience. I also worked here for 1 day and that was all it took. Everyone was very rude and didn’t help at all training wise. These pictures are from April 3rd 2024. The bunnies are wounded, even the babies. Everytime I come here, all the food bowls are empty so I fill them up with the pellets. Their water looks like it’s never been changed. The bunnies never have toys and they don’t get any vegetables in their food. One of them is literally living in a small box made out of wired fence it looks like (4th picture). And they are never supervised when children are with them, which is very bad because kids don’t know how to handle such fragile and scared animals. Bunnies are prey animals and hate being picked up, same thing goes for their guinea pigs. It’s like torture for them there I’m sure. This place is sick.

However, another staff member, who was asked about apples for an apple butter recipe I've made many times before, was a bit snitty about my preference of apple type. I was told her attitude was bc she's "a real baker" but that just doesn't excuse her tone and facial expressions toward me. Outside if the one person, this is a nice place to shop for apples, cider, and other stuff.

Such a great place to take the kiddos during the summer.
Our favorite inexpensive pass time is buying a bag of feed at Lattins and feeding the animals (I believe it was only $1/bag).
Other than feeding the animals, they have a bike area where kids are free to ride and a playground.
The farm store is smaller but has everything you would think of, plus donuts and apple fritters! I do wish they had some lunch options though such as sandwiches. It would make visiting during the days a lot easier.

Purchased some cider. Got it home and opened it. Discovered it was already fermenting and had been bottled just a couple days prior. Was excited to find a local cider press, but their bottling process has some flaws. Maybe open what you buy before leaving to ensure freshness.

It was the first time I've been here. We went on a Wednesday, so it wasn't crazy busy. There are animals to see and you can feed them with a feed bag you can purchase in the store. The store has lots of goodies to buy as well as the all time favorite of mine, apple donuts and apple cider. They did not disappoint.
Me and my adult daughter walked through the pumpkin patch and both found a really nice sized and great shaped pumpkin. We both paid $10 and some change. Not bad.
If you're bringing kids, I would suggest a weekend if you can, they seem to have activities only on the weekends. That's kind of a bummer for those of us who can't go on a weekend, though. Overall it was a fun day.

I called at 2:50pm, and they said they were open until 5:30pm. Got there 330, paid full price for 2 kids ($50) plus critter feed. The employees working the kids' games were unfriendly. One girl barely put down her phone to help the kids with the slingshot water balloons. We went over to the place where they keep some kids' games and animals. Never did find where the decorating cookies were....One worker told me the baby rabbits all died the night before from the heat lamp not getting turned on. Then told me how the Mama rabbit was all depressed. Some larger woman started screaming at a young family with children, to stop feeding the animals - that they'd get diarrhea and DIE if they didn't stop. (There was a small FADED sign on the opposite side of the family, so they couldn't see it.) My child won a goldfish in a game, and the workers said we could come back at closing and get it. We said okay, and went outside to see the other coops. At 4:20pm, we took the kids to go ride the wagon. Instead, they said they weren't running it any more. We turned around to try to find something else for the kids to do since we'd spent $50 and that is when my husband saw the workers locking things up! It wasn't even 4:30! We hadn't picked out pumpkins, weren't allowed to do the wagon, etc. We hurried over, and the employees unlocked the doors to allow my daughter to get her fish. The employees said their boss said to shut down the farm early! What a waste of $50!! Why didn't the ticket lady tell us we only had an hour because they were closing early?! Rude employees, an employee screaming that a young family would kill the animals with feed the farm SOLD to them, hearing about dead babies, shutting down early, etc. We've contacted them via email, FB etc to complain, and they won't respond at all. Avoid this place.
Woodard Bay Conservation Area is a favorite park in Thurston County, offering beautiful trails for hiking and running. The well-maintained trails provide easy navigation and various viewpoints to enjoy the surrounding nature. Visitors can learn about the area's history through informative billboards along the trails, which reveal its past as a log dumping site. Accessible from the location is the Chehalis Western Trail, making it convenient for biking enthusiasts.

Beautiful place for a stroll through the woods and views of the bay. Really fun to hear all the seals and see the birds. We did the straight trail to the bay and the loop trail back ~3 miles total. Loved the informative billboards about the history of it being a log dumping site and that you can see the existing structures. Need discovery pass here. Spent about 1.5 hours on a mid summer morning and parking lot had about three cars when we arrived and was full when we left. Beautiful spot in Olympia for a quick walk in nature.

One of the best kept hiking and paddling secrets in the area. Beautiful trails, lots of wildlife and birds, incredible views at the end, and a perfect spot to put in a kayak during summer. We saw tons of seals and cormorants from our kayaks and found a little spot to beach ourselves for a water break. Definitely worth a visit any time of year.

Amazing place to go on a quick hike to enjoy the trees and the views. You do need a Washington Discover pass at least for parking in the small lot

One of my favorite parks in Thurston County. Sometimes we bike the Chehalis Western Trail to get here (be sure to bring a lock since bikes themselves aren't allowed on the Woodard Bay trail), other times we drive & bring our kayaks! The trails are wonderful any time of the year, but the water is the best in summer- we like to paddle out in the evening against the incoming tide in Henderson inlet then head west around the point and into Chapman inlet. As you leave Henderson inlet you'll pass the cormorant rookery on the right, and sometimes you'll see seals on the old train trestle as you head into Chapman (pups sometimes swim right up to you but don't touch them- it's illegal). The water here is slow & easy (as long as it's a calm day- not so easy if it's windy!) great way to cool down on a summer evening. Good spot for beginners or for a scenic, lazy, relaxing paddle.

Great little trail system with nice views at the end. Being from out of state I was unaware that you needed a DNR pass until I was there so I had to go back into town to find one. Hike was very easy being 100% paved with an option for a dirt path. I didn't get to experience the dirt path trail since I was running out of daylight but I can only imagine how cool it would be given the rest of the area. You could hear multiple different animals throughout the entire hike (seals, bats, owls, birds) and it was extremely peaceful just to close my eyes and take it all in.

The Olympic Flight Museum located at Olympia Regional Airport is a great spot for aviation enthusiasts, offering a wealth of information on historical aircraft. The knowledgeable and friendly staff can provide interesting stories about each unique plane. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 11-5, closed on Mondays but sometimes hosts special events such as weddings or air shows in the summer. They have about twelve distinct aircrafts with rich provenance that offer insight into the intersection between history and technology.
Absolutely amazing work done by our very own local people. After the last couple of years this Airshow was a pleasure to watch. Plenty of great vendors and it was a great salute to our nations veterans. ( which I myself am one). A must return even on a non event day!!

Don’t let the size of the building fool you. This is a wonderful museum with excellent displays of several aircraft and support equipment. Do take the time to look at photos and read the cabinet displays. There are several educational posters on the early members of the WAFS (Women’s Auxiliary Ferry Service) in the second world war. The cutaway of the WWII Wasp engine was impressive. I would allow at least an hour to an hour and a half for your visit. Everyone in our family group was pleasantly surprised by the amount of content.

The East Bay Public Plaza is a fantastic spot just outside the children's museum, featuring a little river perfect for kids to wade in. The area offers benches to rest on and clean restrooms when in season. Visitors can also enjoy playing with musical instruments for free outside the museum. Additionally, across the street, there is a water plant with a free little museum and river to look at. The plaza is well-maintained and safe, with regular patrols by law enforcement.
This place is awesome! Perfect for toddlers on a hot day. Feels like being at a real stream, without any of the danger! There’s even bathrooms nearby, and a security guard who walks the perimeter. The way it’s landscaped, you really don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the city. And right next door to an awesome children’s museum if you need something else to do! Wish you could park longer than 3 hrs on the street though. :(

It's nice, but the white haired elderly security guard is a jerk and will stare you down and follow you around like a criminal if you have a vape in your pocket. He gave me the creeps, wasn't doing anything wrong. Didn't vape around kids. +the kids museum was closed already and no kids around. Be warned the vape police will be on your tail if you have one.
And for the record, there were no signs anywhere in this plaza saying that you could not smoke or vape there. So if that's the rule they need to get some damn signs saying so.

I like this theater it is a beautiful theater. Today, I saw the show STOMP, which I really enjoyed, and I've seen many other performances at this theater that are just wonderful. I'm giving this a 4 star because the one thing that I don't like about this theater is the second floor. So if you sit in either the far left or far right on the second floor the ceiling kinda blocks your view so if performers are doing something high up u won't be able to see it for example. When I saw STOMP today, some of the performers were climbing a ladder up high and banging metal in the high area, and I couldn't see them. I wish whoever constructed this building would've taken the time to take that into consideration. So my recommendation is if u go to the second floor, my advice is to sit in the middle area there. The view is not obstructed. Other than that, it's a beautiful place.

Downtown Olympia concert/performance venue. The venue is very clean and the staff is always friendly. They do not do any screening for weapons etc upon entry and I am not sure if they have any security guards on premise during events? They have recently renovated the seating and it is nice plushy velvet seats. The sound system is honestly not great for live bands/music performances. For book readings or comedy shows it would be fine. But we walked out of a recent Prince tribute it was just SO terrible-the performer and the sound system, I wish we could have got a refund. Also we were accosted by a naked drugged out homeless man walking the two blocks to where we could find parking since the venue has no parking lot. Sadly -Overall not wanting to risk coming back here due to safety concerns and the general issues with sound system and quality of performances.

They have student rush tickets advertised as a way to save money (come 30 minutes before and have $10 tickets for students with school ID) and I even called a week before the nutcracker to check and when I came to get tickets the day off, they told me that rush tickets weren’t available for this show. Then when I went to buy soda, they were going to charge me $2 per soda (which was fine) and then $8 for cups that can be brought to your seats but the cups were open with no lid. It didn’t make logical sense. I would have paid $10 to drink a beverage at the seats.

Brewery Park, located at Tumwater Falls, covers 15 acres of riverside nature. Visitors can enjoy trails, cascades, lawns and a children's play area. The park is pet-friendly and offers great photo opportunities. It is not usually crowded and is a good spot for picnics. The falls are easily accessible with well-maintained paths that make it easy to walk or push a stroller through them even with children as young as two years old.
Was so lucky to catch the Chinook salmon run at the end of September! Thousands of salmon coming up the river and into the fish ladder. It was mesmerizing to watch.
We didn’t go on the trails, but I would like to come back and explore more. The waterfall was nothing special. Salmon is what made the day.

This historic site was recently renamed unfortunately. Tumwater Falls is located next to the former Olympia Beer but is so much more. Native tribes had seasonal homes here. There have been grist and flour mills, power sources and even a railroad. Filled with beauty, native plants and the falls, the easy stroll will transport you away from the hustle and into nature. Sit on the benches and relax. There is a play area, many shady picnic spots with benches and the Falls Restaurant (I have not eaten here)

It was such a cool and very pretty walk around. There were many little waterfalls due to the large amount of rainfall. I did hear this is the highest it's been in some time. Very cool little nature area.

Young and old will enjoy a short and flat walk around Tumwater Falls. Do the short level walk across bridges, explore both sides of the roaring water and falls. You might see Salmon in early fall. However check out romantic expressions of love when couples write names on key locks and attach the locks to some of the fences. Park for kids, clean and safe bathrooms, picnic tables, historical markers and lots of free parking. No discover pass needed. Local favorite for Olympia and Tumwater like myself. Short walk 15/20 minutes.

Great place to go for a walk. My dog loves Timwater Falls Park. I love to watch the seasons change and to see the salmon run. We went a few weeks ago after the big rain and the power of the water was unbelievable 😳. Great place to take kids to get them into nature.

Used to be Tumwater Falls Park, this park is a truly amazing hidden gem. Kids love to watch salmon run at the hatchery's glass wall. Rainbow 🌈 over the thundering lower fall in a sunny day, historic red brewery tower, yellow big leaves in the fall, rhododendrons in the spring, ..., you name it.
Amenities are well maintained: plenty of parking places, a clean restroom, picnic tables, even a restaurant.

Beautiful spot just south of Olympia. Highly recommend. Historical landmarks are marked and facts are displayed along trails. The trails are well maintained and have guard rails. We were lucky enough to be there mid September so we got to see salmon swimming along the falls! There's also a salmon hatchery on site.

The hiking here is perfect for most people. The path is paved and has a lot to look at. The route is fairly extensive, especially for an urban setting. I'd recommend visiting if in the area, especially if you have kids or a dog.
Capitol Lake is an artificial body of water that offers a paved path for walking and running, as well as public parks and an interpretive center. It is a popular destination for families and friends to enjoy a leisurely walk with views of the Capitol Building. However, the lake has been known to be infested with snails that make the water dirty and unhealthy, as indicated by warning signs posted around it.
If you are wanting another beautiful walk after after a great meal along the pier , just take a stroll along Percival landing along capital lake

This is a nice place to go for a walk or a run. I love looking at all the ducks in the lake. The trees are nice to look at as well - especially in the fall.

Fantastic walk or jog. For a challenge, try the switchback leading up to the apital building.

Yes, yes, a quaint little trail and the aesthetics are pleasant, sure. So why the one star? Because this "artificial lake" is a testiment to the foulness of the city. Not only did they burn over 100 homes and put as many families in the streets to build it. But doing so has destroyed the natural, functioning beauty and environment. They have killed off many native species that can no longer survive in the all-fresh water that was once an estuary. And the lake is now host to many terrible parasites, invasive plants and toxic algae, pollution has risen to such high levels that people aren't even allowed to touch the water. It's an atrocity, this lake. An abomination. And it needs to be amended. The dam needs to go.

Nice paved walk around the pretty lake. You can see various birds and the Capital Building reflecting over the treetops onto the lake.
Nice people, all dogs are leashed, stroller and wheelchairs accessible.

Very fun trail. Love to go catch some pokemon here. Capital lake is a wonderful place to go on a walk with the family or friends. The lake is infested with snails that make the water dirty and not healthy, as said on the signs you see all around it, so dont touch the water. The view of the Capital Building is very pretty. Not too hard of a walk, very little hills.

I took my service dog for a walk there. It was really peaceful. Lots of people walking around the lake. My only problem was someone was in the women's disabled stall the full almost 2 hours I was there. I don't know if they were sleeping or what. There was a couple gentleman that said that someone was in the only toilet stall in the men's restroom also, they kept asking him if he was okay. There was workers there in the back of the restroom building, they didn't do anything about them taking up the stalls. It's a beautiful place, but a few people are living in the park, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like it did in 2011, or 2012. I remember that the police and swat teams had to move everyone out, and it was a horrible clean up job after.

Beautiful area and perfect for a walk. I wish the city would invest more so that we get better lighting at night and more.

This lake is not supposed to be here. Let the dam go, make something new that includes the wildlife population. The lake needs to be taken care of, there's plastic all up in that water and the ducks still live there!
