Chatham Lighthouse Beach is a popular sandy beach situated in the Nantucket Sound, known for its picturesque views and an active lighthouse that guides boats through the hazardous Chatham waters. The beach boasts of a seal population but visitors should be cautious of strong currents while swimming. Families looking for a relaxing day can enjoy lounging on the extremely soft sand or participate in walking trails and yoga on the beach.
This is a nice beach. I went here while visiting Cape Cod and was satisfied with my experience. This is a beautiful, sandy beach with a barrier island. The water in between this beach and barrier island creates a serene environment. I gave this beach five stars because it’s a beautiful beach and one of my favorites in Cape Cod.

Such a great place!!!
People are walking and smiling
Parking spots are limited but you can always find one
Be ready to walk barefoot
Bathrooms are available
Windy, and a bit exhausting if you plan to go far especially if you are with the kids because they will not be able to make 30 min walk on a sandy beach.

This beach is gorgeous with many sand dunes and a barrier island. Not too tough to enter- there’s a stairway and the. You are on the beach. The stairs have a platform with a beach halfway and are not too long.
There are beautiful walks through the dunes that the water has carved out. Not much beach at high tide but low tide is great.
The beach doesn’t have many rocks or shells.
Parking is available in-town for $15 with a shuttle bus to the beach. After 5 pm you can park at the scenic overlook parking across from the lighthouse.

Beautiful beach, most beautiful view of sandbar and ocean. Great chance of seeing seals or rare chance of seeing white shark cruising coast...

Must stop in Chatham. So much history. Only 30 minute parking during day so getting dropped off is the way to go. After 6pm parking is free with no time limit. Perfect at low tide with great sand and seeing seals.

We went in March. Water is clean and the sand is very soft which I believe it’s a good choice for kids. We also saw parents brought their kids their for fun. I don’t have much to say but I did enjoy the time waking along with the beach under the pure blue sky.

Really lovely to walk especially at low tide. Dogs allowed during off season. Here are some pics from early October of walking to the right once you enter the beach from the parking lot and walk down a bit. Beach itself is not handicap accessible. Stairs.

The Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in Massachusetts is a great place to visit if you're interested in seeing migrating birds. The refuge includes salt and freshwater marshes, dunes, and freshwater ponds, which are great habitats for many different types of birds.
The Chatham Lighthouse, built in 1877 along with its twin, is located on Coast Guard property in Cape Cod. It is a functional lighthouse that stands next to the Coast Guard house and boat. In 1923, one of the pair of lighthouses was relocated from its original location. The winter season offers a different ambiance to the beach where the lighthouse stands.
We enjoyed the scenery, and took an opportunity to stroll the beach to take in the beauty of Cape Cod. The Chatham Lighthouse is a functional lighthouse on US Coast Guard property. A beautiful lighthouse next to the Coast Guard house, and right near by the Coast Guards boat.

An awesome space to enjoy the sea, and appreciate a history lesson of the United States. There is wheelchair accessible parking conveniently located to the beach and lighthouse viewing. To our experience we could not access the beach via a ramp. There were long steps and no beach sand mats to allow mobility aids to easily go over the sand. It is still a beautiful sight to see. The lighthouse was closed when we visited so we could only appreciate it from outside the gates. It was still wonderful to see!

If you love lighthouses and history. This is the place to visit. The Mayflower passed by here and had to turn around after Provincetown then sailed to Plymouth. You can walk or hike on the beach trails. It is very beautiful.

One of the best times to go is in the winter. Its a whole nother vibe. The light house is beautiful, white sandy beach, free 30 min parking for observation. Love this place!

A great site to vist with access to lighthouse beach. The dunes were beautiful. Great photo opportunity. There is also a CoastGard vessel on site. Bathrooms were available but might be seasonal. There is a 30 minute parking limit.

This is a nice lighthouse. I went here while visiting Cape Cod and was satisfied with my experience. This is a short, beautiful lighthouse with an attached light keeper’s house. This lighthouse is located inside of a Coast Guard station, so you can only view it from behind a short white fence about 3 feet away. This lighthouse is near a beautiful beach and barrier island. I gave this lighthouse five stars because it’s a beautiful lighthouse. There’s also an old Coast Guard rescue boat on display nearby as well.

Best time of the year for this site. No crowds, plenty of parking. Beach is gorgeous. Check out the Seaman's Cemetary behind the granite obelisk.

Very pretty. Didn’t go inside but really cool to see the history and the old coast guard boat. Awesome to still see the lighthouse working!

This is a coast guard station lighthouse so it’s surrounded by fencing. It’s beautiful and a classic lighthouse. There is a cool stamp box you can use to get a stamp of the lighthouse. There is 30 minute parking (9 am to 5 pm) across the street.

Great to see it when it’s foggy! Stopped by after visiting the wildlife trail. Great story to the lighthouse and displayed boat. Be sure to watch “The Finest Hours” 2016 film about the rescue, really gives some depth to it! Only 4 stars because you don’t need much time to check it out, not sure if there is more inside or a small museum or anything, we just stopped outside the perimeter 👍🏾

Cool lighthouse about a 5-minute drive from Chatham’s Main Street. We didn’t go inside, but enjoyed walking the grounds, the views of the beach and ocean, and reading about the lighthouse’s history. Worth seeing, especially considering how close the lighthouse is to town.

Nice little lighthouse, it is a part of the National Guard, so you can not walk up to the building. It is surrounded by a barbed wire fence. The beach is cute but, as you can see in my picture, probably not one to swim at. Nice to walk along and look at the beautiful houses or for a photoshoot
The Atwood Museum is a remarkable historical site that comprises of an 18th-century restored home and additional galleries showcasing the rich culture and history of the region. The museum houses numerous antiques, including a fishing cottage that gives visitors a glimpse into how fishers lived in the past. The exhibits are informative, covering not only Chatham's but also much of Cape Cod's history. The volunteers who run it have put in tremendous effort to make it what it is today.
Beautiful historic home! So many interesting things about the people who owned it and the surrounding area! Tour guides are very nice and informative. So amazing to hear the stories and see how they lived! Will definitely come back to see this place. Well worth the trip!

The Atwood Museum is a wonderful peak into Cape Cod history. Barbara delivered the guided tour of the Main House beautifully and I loved soaking in her knowledge of the property, as well as the area. I have been coming to Eastham my whole life and this was my first time to the museum. The museum is immaculate, in particular, the linens and garments are in pristine condition, which Barbara readily credited to a few of their amazing, long-time, volunteers. I highly recommend a visit to the Atwood Museum!!!!

Exceptionally well curated and presented history museum. Original Atwood home is the basis of this look at Chatham history, art and artifacts. Guided tour of the 1750's home is only the first treasure here. Videos, walk through displays and a unique gallery of one woman's murals make this museum educational, reflective and fun to visit.

What a surprise! If you love history this destination is a must. However, I don't want to build it up too much, this is a simple old house, with a small museum attached. You MUST get the guided tour, the tour guide have such insight into the lives of those living in the early 19th century. I highly recommend it for history lovers. This place is not stuff either, they got the kids in the tour involved. I enjoyed the history lesson thoroughly.

This place was wonderful. The old house is well preserved and delightful, but the other two highlights were the old fishing camp in its original condition and the barn full of portraits by Alice Stellknecht. The docents were all knowledgeable and friendly. We regretted arriving so late in the day. We would have been happy to stay much longer!

Incredible historical site. The tour is informative and tells of great ideas they had in the past to get by. Did u know there is a secret sliding whole in the stairs that leads to the basement, and they would put the cat in the whole and he would stay a few days in the basement and catch and eat the mice! It kept the cats belly full as well! Antiques galore too. It is a labor of love for the volunteers who run it. There's even a fishing cottage showing how the fishers lived. A must see!
Located on the Cape Cod peninsula, Harding Beach is a lovely spot for families to enjoy. The sandy shoreline is lined with dunes and a seasonal lifeguard station keeps visitors safe while playing games like bocce ball and volleyball. Unlike the solitude of Monomoy Island, Harding Beach offers calm waters that are perfect for children to splash around in. Additionally, there are plenty of delicious local food options nearby for anyone looking to grab a bite after soaking up the sun.

The Shark Center in Chatham is an excellent destination for families looking for a brief, educational outing. Despite its small size, the center offers a wealth of fascinating information and exhibits about various shark species, particularly the local great whites. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and actively work to dispel common misconceptions about sharks. This natural history museum is well worth the $22 entry fee for a family of four, offering insights into the history of these impressive creatures in Cape Cod.
Excellent family outing. The Shark Center is full of interesting information and small exhibits about sharks. Especially the local great whites. While not huge (takes about 30 minutes to see everything) they packed a lot into the space, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They're doing important work there dispelling much of the misinformation and myths about sharks. If you're in Chatham and looking for a short, family-friendly outing, check this place out.

Absolutely enjoyed visiting AWSC in Chatham on a rainy day. Definitely go online and book tickets ahead of time since they will be sold out! My 7 year old son, as well as my husband and myself, took full advantage of reading the exhibits and learning about the research that they conduct. The staff members we spoke with were very knowledgeable and eager to share information. My son had lots of questions and they answered them all and used visuals when they could. Learning how they tagged the sharks and then how they found the tags in the water afterwards was very interesting. My son was eager to purchase a hat and other items from the small gift shop in order to have the proceeds go to the conservatory. Highly recommend this destination.

It's a small shark center that has some interesting facts, exhibits, photo opportunities, and even virtual reality. The shark center content is mostly geared towards teenagers and adults, but young kids will enjoy the virtual reality, large shark puzzle, and digging for their own shark teeth. Kids can search through a sand box to find a shark tooth that staff will make into a necklace, all for free. There's enough to explore for 30-45 minutes at most. Small gift shop. Kids 5 and under are free, $5 for everyone else.

Very interesting! Historical significance. Dave & The Chatham Windmill Group volunteer their time & knowledge of the history of the Godfrey Windmill. Oyster Pond Beach is conveniently located near Chatham's Main Street.
When I'm in Chatham I don't come here a whole lot, but I did kayak here a few times years back. I'd highly recommend coming here for that activity.
This is also probably a good spot to take young kids since the water here is fairly mellow.
This spot has real bathrooms which is a major plus, so many of the town's beaches have port-a-potties.
Signs posted advise no dogs allowed on beach from 5/1-9/15, be careful with that, the town has some tyrants on duty that you may encounter if you break that rule. Just be careful on the beaches here with dogs in general, the town doesn't enforce laws the same way the National Seashore does on other parts of the Cape. My mom found out the hard way this summer!
I also noticed that all watercraft on the beach must have a permit from the town's park department.
If you stand on the beach and look to your right you will see a big house on the hill. It's rumored that it belongs to a former American Idol judge.
Enjoyed walking around. Less crowded probably because it's before the season. Free parking now but probably paid parking during the season

Did not enjoy this beach there was way to much seaweed and Horseshoe crabs you had to constantly watch were you stepped or else you could cut your feet on them which happened to me and my nephew. Would not recommend unless you are just going to sunbath.

Rented a sailboat and toured around the sound before relaxing on the beach - all in all an excellent way to spend the afternoon! The staff of the shop were excellent and very cheerful!

This beach really has a place for everyone. If you just like sitting on the beach and reading, consider going to the part on the ocean near the bridge. If you have small kids who like to catch crabs or splash around in the water, set up near the tidal stream, it's a great spot for small kids. If you have older kids who may like to kayak or swim in a bigger river, go to the peninsula where the river meets the ocean, you can float out with the current or kayak there. There's even a sand bar you can swim out to.
Be warned that if you hate seaweed, you may want to set up near the tidal stream, as the ocean and the bigger river have lots of seaweed.
Overall, this place can be great for anyone. It's a great place for a walk because it's a big beach with many tidal streams. It can be great to come as a family, with older or younger kids, or alone.
This place is my favorite on the entire cape.

NOT KID FRIENDLY. Extremely rude and unaccommodating. I rarely post reviews, but felt I had to for this place. They have a no stroller policy, yet they have a children’s section and children’s event...biggest oxymoron ever. Anyone who has little kids (especially pre-walking) knows how much you use a stroller inside and outside of places. I pack EVERYTHING in my stroller from milk to diaper cream, extra clothes, etc. They do not let strollers in the library. I wanted to take my daughter to an event at the library for her first time in Chatham. I did not want to empty my entire stroller, leave it outside UNATTENDED, carry both my baby and multiple bags all around the library. They must not have kids because anyone who does would know how terrible a policy that truly is. You should really revisit your policy. I have never been to a library that doesn’t let strollers inside. Terrible people.

We came from Georgia to The Chatham Bars & Inn for a dear friends daughters wedding. We arrived a tad early and our room wasn’t quite ready so we decided to head to a local market for some snacks and drinks for the room. CVM is very clean. They offer an abundance of fresh proteins in their “meat” market, I found unique and often hard to find pastas, and purchased several salad dressings that were somewhat local and intriguing. Parking was a cinch and the staffers were all very friendly (I have to say being from the South I haven’t typically had this experience!) so I highly recommend The CVM!

The Chatham Railroad Museum is a must-visit destination for train enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This circa-1887 train station features a multitude of exhibits chronicling the rich history of railroads on Cape Cod. The museum boasts an interactive experience, making it enjoyable for people of all ages. Visitors can explore artifacts such as a telegram machine, old signal phones, and ticket stampers while also sounding off an authentic train horn.
If you love trains and railroads, you're gonna want to stop here. A great spot filled to the brim with exhibits all about the history of trains on the Cape. The best part is the interactive component, which makes it super fun for kids and adults. They have a telegram machine, old signal phones, old ticket stampers, a train horn you can sound, and a caboose parked out back you can explore mad get a real feel for train loving. Amazing to consider how important trains were to the development of our country and how now they are so backseat.

Fantastic little museum with interesting trinkets and a well-informed curator. I've never used a telegraph before, so the interactive one they had to try was so cool. Also, they have a retired and restored caboose that you can get inside and tour. Overall, this was a quaint short stop that captured the Chatham spirit.

Some cool railroad lamps and telegraph items. They have a nice collection of stationary model railroad trains both per and post WW2 including American Flyer.
The new management is horrible they are rufusing to supply verified art purchases with letters of authentication. Over a month and no response to emails. Steve Lyons would never have let this happen. Shame a great artist left his business in such incapable hands.
Domonic was a wonderful guide to the artwork in the gallery! Artwork is displayed with careful consideration and flair. Browsing is such a pleasant experience. There is no one with a broader knowledge of our Cape Cod artists. I love the painting I bought and enjoy it everyday. The location is an added bonus - no crowds and struggling to find parking. Thank you Gallery Antonia!

Is there anywhere else to get atmospheric cape art?
This is my 12th Great Grandfather's homestead. Unfortunately on Saturday when we came down it was closed but we had been down before so as disappointed as we were this time we were able to walk the grounds for a little bit.

Art galleries offer an escape to places filled with wonder. Focus Gallery exhibits photography from a variety of talented artists with a keen eye for nature and life adjacent. The works evoke a sense of calm and wonder and the clean open space offers the perfect backdrop to allow you to wander. The staff is well versed in the artists, their techniques and tools and happy to answer any questions. A small selection of tastefully curated books are on hand as well.
Take a detour to Focus on a different view of the world and if so inclined bring a piece home.

Fantastic art gallery. The art is gorgeous and the owner, Cindy, is a pleasure to work with. We’ve bought more than one piece now and would highly recommend a visit to this gallery.
