Moss Glen Falls, located in Putnam State Forest in Stowe VT, is a beautiful waterfall that is the tallest in Vermont and features stunning gorges and pools below. The hike to see the waterfall is relatively easy and offers sweeping views of the falls from above or below.
If you like waterfalls, this is a greattt spot! Not only is the walk short to the falls but the view is great and you can go in the water and climb up the falls! My family and I went up and there’s a little pool in the middle of the falls. Prepare to get wet!! Loved this spot. There is also a trail that takes your up the mountain and you can see the falls from the side up high which was a but steep but totally doable.

We went in the winter to see it frozen over. It was a little scary getting up there with the ice but very cool looking once we got to the top seeing the water flow through the ice

Can’t miss on your trip to Stowe! The hike up to the falls was a little slippery because of the ice. That was our fault for coming on a snowy day. Just be careful and you’ll be fine! It was relatively easy to manage and completely worth the views. I could have stayed all day.

Such a beautiful place! Went there today. So worth the drive and hike up to the falls!!

This is the perfect spot for a short walk and fun short climb to see the waterfall. Came with my 60 yo mother who has a few ailments and she found it completely manageable. Through the clear path you can veer off to admire the stream and then continue to climb for the ideal view of the falls. There’s easy parking and it was generally not crowded when we visited. Worth checking out by far!

Very short walk barely any climbing unless u go behind the trail, there is a rope and signs of danger, as it very narrow area to stand, probably only 4 people can be there at the same time looking at waterfall directly. Parking off the road can fit maybe 10 cars. Area can be muddy if it rains.

I absolutely loved the narrow winding boardwalk that leads to these falls - flat and easy and beautiful in fall! The falls themselves are stunning and an absolute blast to get up close to - crossing across rocks and up and around to get a front and center view.

Spectacular views 🏞 with moderate-level hiking trails throughout.
Make sure to bring your water🧃 & a little picnic 🍫 to enjoy near the falls! 🏖

Small hike to this beautiful little waterfall. The hike is a little steep but not long at all.

This waterfall exceeded expectations. We saw a beaver dam on the short walk in, took in the views from the top, and then did a quick hike in to the base. Not quite swimming but some wading. It was gorgeous.

easy hike to the falls, little more moderate to the top. spring i would say is the best time due to the mountain runoff. beautiful views. parking area is small and usually has a porta potty at the trail head available in season

Great hike, with a great pay off at the end. A wonderful Falls. Worth the visit!

Short hike to a gorgeous falls, about 10 minutes. To the falls. Along the way there are quiet a few beaver dams and large trees felled. Once at the tip there’s a ripe that says “not maintained rails”. We kept going about a mile
In for further views and it was really gorgeous. After about .75 miles there’s a nice flat spot by the river to chill / have a picnic). Would have gone further but I was testing out my new hip! Parking at trail head was a bit crowded, but given it’s a short hike, spaces open up frequently. Easy for kids!

There’s a short trail to the top. There’s kind of a boardwalk most of the way there. Then there’s a steeper climb to the top where you have to be careful of other people going up and down. Ultimately, you reach the top and see this cool waterfall. It’s a nice short stop.

Visited on weekday.. there is a trail to go from bottom and take it up to foothills where we could swim too.. and my adventurous family climbed a bit of falls too. Definitely worth visiting

A small walk to the falls but it's really tricky to get to the actual falls. To get to the bottom of the falls we have to go through the water or go over the rocks next to the water. It also depends on the water level. But if you can get to the bottom its a really good view.
There is a small bridge next to the parking lot. There is a small steep passage to get to it. If you can get there it's really a beautiful spot for pictures. See one of the pics I attached.
Stowe Recreation Path is a verdant 5.3-mile pathway and park that is famous for its opportunities to hike, bike, and enjoy picnics or swimming. The lush greenway provides visitors with a range of outdoor activities in a beautiful natural setting. This extensive recreation path offers ample space for strolling or cycling while enjoying the scenic views of the surrounding environment.
Mt. Mansfield is the tallest peak in Vermont and one of the highest in New England. It's a popular tourist destination with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, including hiking, skiing, and viewing stunning views from its summit.
Hiked this mountain a week ago. Started on the Long Trail South and got to the top that way. If you are looking for an easy way...this is NOT the trail for you. Basically it's all up. Just when you think it can't go up anymore it does. The last leg of it was a lot of rock/cliff climbing. But there are some beautiful streams and waterfalls on the way up. When we got to the top, we decided not to take the same way down...however we took the "Cliff Trail" down. I figured since it went to gondola, it couldn't be that hard. Lol. I was wrong. However there are bars to grab on when you go over the rocks and cliffs. Just be careful of slippery rocks. We saw a man with his German Shepard and the dog was NOT going to go down that way. Poor thing was whimpering. The guys girlfriend left him and the dog there and went down herself. 😂🤣 Anyway once we got down the cliff Trail, we just walked down the service road, which was actually harder than you'd think, because smaller rocks were under your feet. Still there were many beautiful views along the way up and down. Was a challenging hike for sure. Glad I can say I hiked it from the bottom of the mountain up, vs using auto road to get towards the top.

Prepare for a long day of hiking uphill if you want to make it to the summit, if you want to save your energy I suggest hiking early so you can take the gondola ride back down, otherwise, it’s a very tiring (but doable) loop.
Beautiful views, brief areas where you actually have to do a bit of rock climbing, and very windy at the top. Loved this hike up mount Mansfield.

Beautiful view but rated theee because of the road. Drove all the way to the top parking (last one through the cloud). Costed 47usd for 2 adults and a child. Very dangerous driving route because the road was too narrow for two-way.
had mini heart attacks everytime a car came from the other side.

EXCELLENT run! I ran up Mt. Mansfield from a few different trails/locations now and its worth it everytime. I would recommend a light jacket for up top even in the summer. Wind can cut through you and especially if you sweat on the way up.

Super beautiful place to visit while in Stowe, worth every penny for the gondola ride up, they have a gift shop, and food spot up top, but super cool for hiking or just getting a glimpse at how beautiful Vermont really is!

Visited from Toronto for this hike, and absolutely worth it! We took the halfway house route up, and the sunset ridge route down. This total took us 5 hours, precisely. The sunset ridge had nicer views, and was slightly easier than the halfway house (neither were easy though!!).
This hike was fairly technical. You have to maintain a level of concentration to ensure careful footing on the rocks. Also, it was pretty inclined the entire time. It was not a walk in the park, that’s for sure.

Excellent hike for a day with friends.
We did go through the toughest climb.
It’s not for everyone… very steep.
It was almost like climbing.
Some older couple were even stuck in the middle (and you don’t want to go down this side!)
Ask to make sure you take the easy route up if you are not experienced.
It was a very nice 8km up and down.
The views from the top are superb.
You have to get there early if you want parking. We were there around 8am and it was already full.
There is also a hiking fee that you need to pay for near the parking lot.
We found a lucky spot to park our Sprinter.
I gave it 4 stars because it’s a bit busy.
But well worth it otherwise.

What can I say about this view. Tallest mountain of vermont with a spectacular view. The trail to the summit wasnt challenging but you should always be careful about where you step. A great hike with a nice drink afterwards highly recommended for anyone who wants the best views of vermont.

This is a great day hike. Not too long to get to the top, it took me about 4 hours. You can see Lake Champlain and Burlington from the peak on a clear day. It gets very windy above the treeline. Bring a light jacket even if you go in the summer.
Dominic Sacchetti (Dominic S) — Google review
Beautiful trail. I highly recommend taking the toll road. Very windy on top, bring your windbreaker and maybe a light fleece even for warm sunny days. It gets pretty cold. We went in late August and were comfortable in multiple light layers. Don't be that guy wearing just a t-shirt. You can see Lake Champlain, and also the ski lift that is operating at Stowe. If you're trying to pick between taking the ski lift to the top vs toll road I would suggest toll road. The ski lift awkwardly puts you in the middle of the trail so you'd have to double back if you want to hike the full thing. Fairly easy trail if you're just doing the top, we saw plenty of families. There are rocks to scramble over, but no dangerous drop offs or anything like that.

Worth the hike. Is not too hard. If you are not in good shape just walk slow
The Alchemist Brewery is a well-known and highly respected brewery in Stowe. It is most famous for its cult classic, the Heady Topper double IPA, but it also has a wide range of other delicious beers on tap. Visitors are allowed to sample each one before making their decision. There is also a seasonal beer garden where you can relax and enjoy the company of other beer lovers.
If you love beer, you have to make the pilgrimage to Northern Vermont to the many beer meccas- and make sure The Alchemist brewery tour is on your list.
When we went in mid-october, the tasting room was closed so we booked the tour, which is a can't miss event.
Upon arrival our souvenir glasses were immediately filled with fresh Focal Banger that was canned that morning. After a brief introduction, our guide walked us through the brewing operation, making a point to describe in-depth all of the improvements the brewery was making to get to zero carbon emissions and eliminate the environmental impact of brewing beer. All the while, making sure our glasses were never empty.
Inside the brewery we all wore masks, except, of course, when we had to sip their amazing beers.
Once the tour was over we sat on their patio and enjoyed additional offerings including Heady Topper, an English Imperial Stout, Luscious, and a pilsner called Light. There was no shortage of beer and the patio hangout gave us time to ask questions, talk with other guests, and pick up the beer we ordered in advance.
My wife is not a beer drinker but she enjoyed the tour and the beer.
The brewery itself was immaculate- the grounds and the interior were well-maintained. Nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains painted by Autumn foliage, it provided a perfect spot for leaf peeping.
Add the Alchemist to your bucket list and plan your visit for the fall if you are a foliage lover

We did the tour and saw the beer garden here. The artwork is very cool and the atmosphere here is relaxed. It is a great place for sure and on the tour you find out so much more. They are very knowledgeable about their craft from all angles. However they won me over and I decided to do this review after hearing how seriously this company takes giving back and minimizing their footprint. Did you know besides making some great brews they have a scholarship program, recycle their spent grain to farmers, filter their water in and out, recycle C02 used during the process and generally practice environmentally friendly processes. We'll they do.... and seriously make some great beer while doing it. You can enjoy this company's products for all the right reasons.

Beer is extremely reasonably priced. Similar breweries charge 30% more but the Alchemist is clearly committed to maintaining affordable, delicious beer. Beer is great. Indoor space is a bit small. Staff was all friendly. Photo is of hand pulled heady topper (amazing and so smooth).
Wish they had longer hours but I’m glad they respect their staff.

So happy to have witnessed the true spectacle of the total solar eclipse from Alchemist’s massive open porch. They were kind enough to run a free event and have a food truck and porter potties on their facility for the viewing party.
The live music and dance added to the atmosphere of the 2 hr eclipse and it was amazing to experience totality with other folks who had traveled from all along the East Coast.
The heady topper on the hand tap was amazing and it was really nice to take back commemorative stickers. The brewery is located close to many food places in Stowe including a pizza place, Pieccasso (where we ended up getting a massive pizza from) and Nocturnal. All in all, we loved our time catching up the eclipse here and we are really glad that the brewery staff were so welcoming!
We will definitely come back to try a tour of their facility and drink a beer or two when we are in Stowe next.

This was on my brewery bucket list, and it was well worth the visit. Took off one star as the experience was limited to two 16oz cans for on-site consumption. Would much rather have preferred an option of smaller pours and the opportunity to try several varieties. That said, the location, staff and beer were all excellent. Final note - don't forget to try the cheese!

Alchemist was a cool brewery in the Stowe area with solid beers and beautiful grounds with plenty of parking. I will say, I was pretty surprised to find only one beer on tap, although there were plenty of cans and bottles to try. Also the actual taproom area was very small - likely the smallest I've seen for such a large facility.
Good beer and cool spot but not necessarily the most inviting taproom experience.

The Alchemist Brewery is an exceptional destination for beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers alike. The ambiance is a feast for the senses, with vibrant murals and string lights creating an atmosphere that's both electric and cozy. A standout is the hand-poured Heady Topper, which lives up to its reputation with every delicious, expertly crafted sip. The space is buzzing with energy, yet there’s an intimate charm that invites you to linger longer. Staff are passionate and knowledgeable, enhancing the experience. It's clear why this place has earned its accolades. A must-visit for anyone seeking the pinnacle of craft beer in a setting that’s as memorable as the brews.

A must when in Stowe. They offer a tour, I didn’t do the tour, but will next time. This place gets packed quickly, so be patient while they try to accommodate as many guests as possible, but they do limit how many people are inside. You can opt to sit out in their patio under cover, but no heat. The beers are very good, esp. heady topper, focal banger, and light. Cheers!

we tried two beers, the kiss of dank and the barrel aged knuckle dragger. IPA was great, flavours of citrus and mango, not to hoppy. The highlight was the knuckle dragger milk stout, very rich full body, initial taste of coffee and dark chocolate, finishing off with notes of cherry and oak. Incredibly smooth and memorable beer. One of my absolute favourite beers I’ve had ever. Pricey, 15 USD a can. The service was amazing, the location is clean, well decorated and hip, an absolute gem in the Stowe area. Must visit.

If you're an IPA fan, then you'll be pleased! You can play outside with friends and families while enjoying their tasteful beers! They only have one beer on tap, but their best one, the Heady Topper, a double IPA, you must try it.

The Alchemist is a dog-friendly gem! Their consideration for dog owners with a sign for parental caution is thoughtful. My only minor gripe is the lack of draft beer available outside. It's been too long since I enjoyed Heady or Focal on draft, but overall, it's a great spot for dog lovers and beer enthusiasts alike.
Thank you for making this dog friendly again!

Amazing brewery with a great atmosphere and interesting artwork. Beers were reasonably priced. Great tasting IPAs that are served cold in a glass. Their space inside is surprisingly small but they do have a nice outdoor sitting area/beer garden. Plenty of parking spaces. You can purchase some of your favorite beers to take home. Before coming check the days to make sure they are open. They were closed a few days during the week when we were planning our visit. You can leave with some free stickers and coasters. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

This place is the BEST. Great vibes and HeadyTopper on tap, wow, who can complain about ANYTHING!
the inside is huge and has so many great artistic pieces/murals that make it so nice. The staff is really nice and manages the place super well. The outside tent area is nice and they had a live DJ so a really great place to hang out.
The beers were really really reasonably priced.

Nice place to hang out, very good beer, they focus on IPA's. The flagship beer is Heady Topper which is very heavy on the hops but very good flavor. The tap room keeps evolving and getting better. It started as a simple tasting room, then made it into a larger space where you can hang out and sample/buy the beer, and now they have tables and offer food from a food truck partner. Still a great place to hang out.

Great beer, served by great people. Plus, I love their tipping policy, since all of their employees get paid a living wage, tips are not needed, and any tips received are donated to charities chosen by the employees, which I think is awesome!

My wife and I have been coming here since The Alchemist was in Waterbury years ago. The owners and employees are absolutely first rate people who regularly give back to the community. This brewery is everything a Vermont business should be. Responsible, friendly, kind, hardworking people who deliver exceptional service and product. The Stowe brewery is quirky and unique and absolutely worth a visit. Oh, and a 4 pack of great beer won’t set you back $20+, like so many others. Go here and experience terrific beer in an environment unlike any you’ve seen before.

This place was highly recommended by a random beer fan when we were at another brewery in Maine. We ordered the Shut the Hell Up and the Big Daddy. Both were very good and flavorful, nice and cold and carbonated. When we first walked in, we were nicely greeted by a staff member who explained the layout of the place and gave our kid a cool sticker. The vibe of the place is relaxed and unique. There’s a spot for to-go beer and beer drive up for pickup which was something we don’t usually see for a brewery. There’s a large outside area with chairs and another spot for canned beer.
Located in the Green Mountains, Smugglers' Notch State Park Campground offers visitors a scenic and winding drive through the mountains with amazing cliffs and views. The park is famous for its use as a smuggling route in the past, but now offers all sorts of activities for visitors to enjoy year-round.
We only spent one night, but what a beautiful and laid back place! Will definitely come back! Bingham Falls is a short walk down the street, then a hike down the trail to the falls. Gorgeous spot!

This campground is nice and very clean. Its also close to some cool stuff, hiking, biking, etc. However, we won't be staying here again due to the unfriendly, rude and condescending staff. We rented two adjacent campsites here over the weekend, which had a shared parking area. We had three vehicles, one of which was a sprinter van. The park rules indicated that all vehicles must be parked off the road in all parking areas. We easily parked all of our vehicles off the road. However the park ranger wouldn't let us keep the van in the parking area and seemed to be making up rules to force us to move the van, even though we seemed to be abiding by the parking policy. We ended up having to park the van off-site, under threat of having the police called, which meant we had to unload the van completely, which was frustrating after a 4 hr ride to get here. I guess, take care if you plan on bringing a larger van here. Staff here are not very accommodating.

We camp here annually at the end of camping season and love the beauty of the nature that surrounds us here. It's typically very peaceful, even though it's always busy in Stowe this time of year. However, typically I don't hear the people or car traffic. There is a small stream near the site we stay at which is a lovely sound to fall asleep to. Staff here is informative, but not always super friendly. I wish there was a dish-washing station and would love to have warm water at the lower bathroom, especially on those cold camping weekends. But, all-in-all, the rustic nature of this campground is one of the things I love about it.

Can’t comment on the campgrounds as I wasn’t able to stay but the employee or park ranger or whatever his role was, was one of the rudest people I’ve interacted with. The facility was full and so I asked for a recommendation as I’m not from the area and he shot out a name and then told me I need to leave. I came back the next morning hoping to purchase a day pass to use a shower and he followed me through the campground, scolded me (even though I had called ahead and he didn’t answer) told me I need to leave immediately and followed me out. Didn’t even visit the state park due to the sour taste he gave me to the whole area.

We really enjoyed this campground! The woman who greeted us was so friendly and sweet. We had a site with a lean-to, and it was very well maintained. Picnic table and fire pit in good condition, shelter was sturdy, roomy, deep enough to not need to set up our tent, and had a nice paint job so it even looked great! We saw people cleaning/checking on the bathrooms at least 3 times the one afternoon and night we were there, and they obviously did their job well. Trash was regularly emptied, and everything was clean. Highly recommend!

Going in October, which we've done for many years, we always seem to get rain but it's actually not a big deal here. The sites are so wooded and the drainage is so good that we have never really had a problem with it. Clearly, the pup doesn't like it!
This is a beautiful park, in a wonderful location. You could eat every meal at a different restaurant within a 15 minute drive or you could never leave your site in which case you wouldn't know how close you were to civilization. Hiking opportunities, either within driving distance or from the park, abound.
Kris Ahlstrom — Google review
Nice campsite, but not much space for the cars. The staff in general is not friendly, don't expect any kind of cooperation from them, for example checking in a little earlier, even if the site is unoccupied from the previous day. They make you feel like you are committing a crime, patrolling the campground every minute and even when you leave for a while and then return they ask you if you have a reservation. If you have a van or Camper they want to make sure you don't sleep inside it, which is meaningless. The area is very nice but the staff makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Beautiful drive through the area on 108 with several hiking areas along the way and parking area/clean bathrooms at the top. If you're from out of town, the road gets very narrow... tractor trailers and camper drivers don't do it!

The camping areas looked well maintained and the grounds officers were very nice. The campsites were full when we pulled in to check it out so we didn't stay here but I would most likely return. The picnic area and trails were very nice in the designated areas. We enjoyed lunch in the park with our 25 foot RV. The roads are well maintained and we were able to move about easily in the RV.
Stowe is a well-known ski resort in the Northeast with more than 100 trails and two mountains. The resort has a spa, heated pool and fitness centre, making it a great place to relax after skiing or snowboarding.
I can only speak to the ski lift and the “village” across the street as I didn’t stay at the resort. The lift takes you up to the top and it’s gorgeous view in the summer! Breathtaking! And going across the street was so fun as well, open to everyone the little town with vendors and seating was great. Would recommend

I went skiing at the Stone Mountain Resort, and it was a great experience. I was in the ski school, and the teachers were very helpful. The slopes and the runs are very well-kept and beautiful. I would suggest going earlier in the day when it's not as crowded. The only issue I had was that some people were smoking, and the parking lot that is not a mile away said it charges $5 per hour, but they charged us $45; we were only there for three hours, so we tried to report that, but they would not listen to us. But besides that, our experience is good.
Elisha Pick — Google review
We visited this place during weekdays so the crowd was not too much. This means we could get the lift tickets, rentals and hit the slopes fairly quickly.
The lifts were also fairly empty so getting to the top was never a problem.
This was my first attempt at skiing so I decided to go with their 2 hour lessons. This was very beneficial as the instructors gave up the solid foundation on moving and turning. The next day, I was hitting the green slope with ease.
Prices of lift tickets are on the higher side but makes sense considering the number of lifts they offer. A long ride in the gondola is definitely recommended. The restaurant at the top of the mountain is usually busy and requires reservation.
All in all, a great experience and a highly recommended destination fir skiing.

Stowe is beyond awesome! Between the powdery slopes, cool gondola experience, access to many ski rental shops and the mountain road restaurants and breweries! One of the best ski resort towns I’ve ever been to. The staff is awesome and welcoming. The slopes are nice and wide so you don’t feel like you’re running into people. They have a separated beginner mountain from the intermediates/diamonds so you don’t have to worry about beginners skiing/snowboarding into you! Super neat lodges/resorts to stay at just 5 mins away from the mountain! Not to mention you can easily just ski out right to your car. Super easy to access the mountain!

This is the most fantastic skiing resort I’ve been to. The views are incredible and it’s such a long run. I went down the easier slopes and those were scary for me. We paid a half day trip there during the fall foliage season. The view was breathtaking.
The gondolas took you to the summit for a panorama view; where, you can see far away but the trees up there are mostly evergreen. So fall foliage is not as spectacular as down below.
Buying gondola ride tickets in advance will save you about 20 minutes of lining up.

Ok. I have lived in Austria for 23 years. So I have to compare.
Skiing. In Austria they groom every run every day. Except bump trails of course. So the on piste skiing is way way better. I guess Vail is saving money. But for $200+ a day it’s nuts.
A season pass that covers 25 ski areas all within an hour costs about $700. No blackout dates.
Next is food. The huts all over the mountains are all independent. So they charge the going rates of a normal restaurant. Not $9,00 for fries and $13,50 for a beer. About $4,00 each.
Oh. And I never waited 20 minutes in a lift line to get on a 20 year old quad.
Customers are getting take. Advantage of at Stowe.
But of course they pay a lot so say it’s great to justify it

Early season. Stowe has the most terrain open in the entire U.S. Went with my wife on a Monday morning and had Spruce Peak almost entirely to ourselves. The conditions were wet and heavy, not favorable for novices, but we had a blast. Skied again Tuesday morning and it was perfect for us, packed corduroy. The grooming crew at Stowe is insane. With an epic pass, this is so worth the money.

And there are no restroom nere the ride. You have to go resort area with another ride. And the waiting period is long. Not enough washroom for only ride users.
The Stowe Scenic Auto Road is a winding road that takes you to the top of Mt. Mansfield in Vermont. Along the way, you will experience beautiful views of Stowe and the Adirondack Mountains.
It's $26 for the driver and car and $9.5 per passenger. The length of the toll road is 4.5 miles. Elevation from the summit is 1340 m. You can hike at the top. I liked the Long Trail South. There are stunning views of Lake Champlain and Adirondacks Mountains. When I visited it was in June.

The views up here are really breathtaking. It was one of our favorite stops. The guide At the visitor Center was very helpful in providing assistance for my friend who cold only use a wheel chair to reach a view point. Bathrooms very clean. However I did expect more from a toll road. First, most of the road is gravel with steep grades. The road is too narrow for two way traffic. There is little parking once you get to the top. This experience is not handicap accessible. Not only do you pay for the vehicle but you pay for each person in the car. Next time I would either take hiking trails to the top or come during the ski season when the view is just part of the fun.

I highly recommend you drive yourself to the top of the mountain. Beautiful views once on top, you could hike up to the summit of Mount Mansfield.

Wonderful day activity with kids or friends! The drive up the mountain is not as hard as you may imagine it is 1/4 mile paved road and then a sand road up the mountain so 4wheel drive is a good option for this activity. The drive takes 20 min in average and then you arrive to a parking area, the visitors center was closed when we arrived but we had a saved google map of where to go! There’re toilets in the parking. Bring water, snacks for children if needed, bug spray, definitely wear comfy shoes if not hiking shoes and sunscreen 🧴 Also check weather forecast in advance. The hike is about 1hr each way to go up the mountain, the trail is medium-easy as after the wooden walkway it is very narrow and just rocks to walk/climb into, it’s about 3 miles in total to go up and get back to the parking lot. There is one more trail that is really easy and flat but doesn’t go much up. There’s a large room for improvement for this place, to start with maybe little bit more signs along the way!
You also can hike up to the top of the mountain 🏔️ without car from the toll gate where cars start going up.
I would love to do it again and highly recommend the hike up to the mountain top it worth all the effort!

We loved this drive and hike. Drive, hike to summit and drive down took about 4 hours. We drove up in our Jeep Wrangler, we did see cars drive up too.
The hike is a must do. The views on the hike were awesome. I've included pictures of the views and hiking terrain. I saw a few people wearing sandals, towards the beginning of the trail, I would not recommend this. Parking was very limited (we went on a Tuesday around 11:00 am). There are porta potties at the parking lot at the beginning of the trail. Lots of friendly, happy people, dogs, and young kids.

The drive up and down is pretty easy. It's graded gravel after about 1/4 mile. Just take it easy around the turns, yield to cars coming down and you'll be fine. Couple nice stops along the way to the top. We got the last spot in lot A.
The view from the top is breathtaking, especially if you make the 1.4 mile trek to the peak.

What a unique and fun activity! Great way to see the fall foilage from Mt Mansfield without the hike. There were plenty of places to pull over safely to take pictures on the way up and down. I did not find the drive scary at all. The road wasn't any different than many of the back roads in VT. Just take your time going up/down and enjoy the view. I went at 10am on a Wednesday; there was no line and not many people on the road. When I exited the toll road at about 12p there was a line of people waiting to go up.
Jackye Young — Google review
A great way to work your way up Mount Mansfield! Unfortunately, it does not go to the summer directly and there is a mile and a half or so hike to the actual summit. If the top lot is full, you will have to hike more from Lot B to reach the visitor center.

Beautiful and worth the trip. Better to do with a 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive car! Very high up.

Auto road was fun, but most of the road is gravel and is more challenging to drive than on asfalt. Some are have very big holes so please be careful. But is definitely recommended to drive there if you don't want to spend all day to hike the mountain.
I think is also very pricey as well, I paid over
$42 for me and my wife to go there.

Worth the trip. Nice drive up the toll road and great hiking at the top. The visitor center wasn’t open when we went, but there are port-o-potties in the parking lot. Bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray!!
The Outdoor Center at Trapp Family Lodge is a great place to explore in Stowe. It has panoramic views, stunning trails, and an abundance of activities. There is ample terrain to snowshoe with multiple snowshoe-specific trails.
Raced here in my college years and it was always one of my fave places in the area- still boasts a ton of well-groomed trails with all kinds of terrain.

My friends and I came to see the Highland Cows and honestly felt a little let down. The walk there is about a mile downhill, and it’s really just a lecture while you see some cows from a shorter distance than if you were to drive by. Farmer Poach was an incredible and interesting speaker, but I don’t think it’s an experience I would do again. Thank you Farmer Poach for your incredible expertise!

Trapps is by far one of the best cross country ski areas, definitely in the area, if not the whole country. Their grooming is top notch, and the variety of terrain is awesome, from great skating loops, to vigorous climbs, to steep and fast downhills. They even make some snow. Also, snowshoe trails are excellent and challenging, and in the summer, the mountain biking is some if the most challenging in the area. Overall, worth a visit; you'll find something outdoors to do.

We booked the Von Trapp History Tour for $18 per person. We went at 9am to get tickets for the 11am - you have to get tickets the day of; especially if you are not a hotel guest.
The tour was underwhelming. The tour guide talks to you about the family in a ballroom and then you go see the graveyard. This was then followed by watching a BBC documentary about Maria .
My biggest complaint is that this wasn't a tour at all. There was no tour of the grounds or explanation of when things were built or where the original farm was.
Moreover, the initial part significantly needs improvement. Why weren't there visual aides? You see all of these pictures in the hallways- why aren't they shown during the "tour"?!? Also, the guide discussed all of the memoir books which are available in the gift shop, why didn't she show us the books?!? Or read excerpts?
This tour seriously needs an update. Consider adding audiovisual updates

This place becomes famous because of its story and heritage. To know it’s story, you have to know the movie “The Sound of Music”, and its filming location was Salzburg. The prototype of the movie migrated from Europe to this place. To memorize their hometown, they built this place like salzburg. It’s currently a small hotel, and periodically the waiters will introduce the story of Sound of Music, and bring you back to the European life.

Snowshoeing at Trapp Family Lodge. My daughter and I drove up to spend the day snowshoeing. When we arrived, we bought our tickets ( $25/each. had own equipment ) and set off on the "Cabin Trail" We hiked the whole trail up to the cabin ( which was closed ) and it couldn't have been more poorly maintained. There were fallen trees across the trails, trees that were about to fall onto the trail, streams w/ no bridges to cross ( had to find alternative route ) and scattered debris throughout the entire trail. It was really awful! If one of those trees falls on someone's head as they pass, Trapp Family Lodge is going to be in some hot water legally. We were determined to get our money's worth so we pushed through. I would NOT recommend anyone trying to navigate that trail and TFL should be ashamed of themselves for such poor land management ( but willing to take the $50). Never again!!

My daughter and I went x-skiing with our own equipment (newer waxless skis). It was snowing, and as we approached the Cabin, we were having a heck of a time with snow packing under the skis. Phil at the Cabin couldn't have been more lovely! He served us hot chocolate, soup, and helped wax our skis. Saved our day!!

The cross country skiing here is topnotch. I won't go anywhere else in Central Vermont. This is my 4th or 5th year as a passholder. Last year (2022) I got a pass to Bolton's XC because it's 7 minutes closer to my house and I thought I'd go more often. You know what? Bolton couldn't care less about their XC area and it shows. I didn't go enough to even pay off my pass. So, I'm back at Trapp this year and SO happy about it! Trails are groomed early and often. Even on a crowded day, once you're 5 or 10 minutes out from the lodge, you're likely to find yourself alone or passing just a couple of other people. The trails are wonderfully varied in topography, length, and difficulty to make regular visits interesting and different each time. Thank you to all the people involved in the XC operation!!

The Gold Brook Covered Bridge is a small, historic wooden bridge over Gold Brook in Stowe, Vermont. The bridge is said to be haunted by the ghost of a girl named Emily, who supposedly hanged herself from the rafters after her lover failed to show up as planned. Some visitors to the bridge have reported scratches and other injuries on themselves and their cars, though these claims remain unverified.
Beautiful spot. Good ghost story/ urban legend that goes with it

I really enjoyed my little jaunt to the Gold Brook Covered Bridge in Stowe! It was cool to hear the stories associated with this bridge, especially the spooky ghost story of Emily! She's said to still haunt this bridge to this present day! The Gold Brook Bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's definitely worth taking a few minutes to admire its unique design and fun history!

Really cool history here. The take if this bridge is A young woman named Emily planned to elope with her love. Their meeting place was this same bridge. But when he didn't show, Emily, filled with despair, hanged herself from the rafters of the Gold Brook Bridge. Some really nice picture taking. I wish it were nicer out as it was pouring rain but it didn't put a damper on our excursion. Great bridge to visit with a lot of history and folklore around it.

Not every place in Google needs to be a place to eat or lodge, American landscapes and pioneer industry long left behind are worthwhile visits and topics of conversation. The Gold Brook Covered Bridge is a simple but prominent staple in the Vermont country side. Settlers built covered bridges because they tended to withstand the weather much better than an open bridge. Some stood five times longer, needing less repair and upkeep. There is plenty of architectural consideration into these early bridges.
Now this one has a ghost story that goes with it. I think it’s largely a tourist draw, which is sadly unnecessary. This bridge does not need a jilted bride trope to be an interesting location. You can see from picture number one - it has its own calling to majesty.

Had a fun and quick stop to this “haunted bridge”. The scenery is very pretty in this area. While I didn’t feel a spiritual presence, after driving through the bridge, my traction control light turned on and off, which my car has never done before. 👻

Beautiful Covered Bridge in Stowe. Worth taking a few minutes to park and walk around . Several viewpoints available. You can walk down the hill to get closer to the water and view the underneath of the bridge as well. Easy Access. However, plan to hike down the hill for even more gorgeous views of the stream & bridge.

You can get there on your own, and there is a good area to park just across the bridge so you can get out and look around. However, be aware that there are some locals that don't appreciate anyone visiting the bridge. Even though we were safely out of the right of way, we had one local that decided to stop while driving across the bridge to inform all of us that "this is main roadway that locals use" and that we were "in the way." Thankfully, another local was there giving a tour to a small group and apologized for the driver's unwelcoming attitude, but the incident did taint the experience.

The Gold Brook, or “Emily’s Bridge” in Stowe, Vermont. The bridge was built in 1844, and it’s single lane crosses 50 feet over the Gold Brook to connect a country dirt road with Vermont’s Route 100.

Legend has it the bridge is haunted by Emily, a jilted lover- who may scratch a passing car, or who’s ghostly whisper might be heard over the sound of the babbling brook below. #stowevt #coveredbridge #hauntedplaces #ghoststories #EmilysBridge

Sterling Falls Gorge is a beautiful waterfall hike located in Stowe, Vermont. The trail winds through lush greenery and passes by several cascading falls before ending at the gorge's spectacular pool. The 0.5-mile hike is easy and takes only 40 minutes to complete, making it an ideal outing for families or those looking for a more relaxed adventure.
Absolutely otherworldly beautiful. It is a wonderful hike well maintained trail with amazing views of the gorge and the waterfalls. A couple bench to sit on along the trail and little informative signs about the gorge. Definitely bring bug spray, though. The mosquitos were really annoying.

Sterling gorge falls is a very nice local hike. The path to the falls winds through dense trees, it's not an exposed falls. Depending on the season, you do need to hop across some rocks and water to really see the falls. Be on the lookout for a geocaching box if you are into that. Lots of cool stuff in it.

Pretty and shaded hike. It's a bit of a drive to get to and it took us a minute to find the trailhead, but it was a nice hike on a hot day. The signs were very informative and there's a nice spot at the bottom to see the water from multiple vantage points.
Be careful with small children and fearless adults - there's a lot of high ledges without any barriers.

4) A small and rustic cider tasting room is found in the former market space of a deli, specializing in on-tap flights of different ciders. The Winders family produces around 500 gallons of cider twice a month using only locally grown apples from Champlain Orchards.
Came here to enjoy a few ciders after snow shoeing on the rec path. Great experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our pups. As always, the cider was delicious. If you’re in Stowe, Stowe Cider is a must stop.

Stowe Cider was excellent. It was pretty hopping when we visited with live music, and a good queue at the bar which is by the front door. After settling in we found the pub to be much larger with lots of room in the back - and although we went on a rainy night I think there’s an outdoor area.
Lots of great hard cider- the Sangria flavor was a favorite and they have a number of other including blueberry, and while we we here a “brainwave” selection of Gummy Bear cider available only at the cidery.
Thumbs up for a night out, or just pop in for some cans to go.

This is our must stop place on our snowboarding trips to Stowe every year. Absolutely love the ciders! The dry and not sweet varieties are my favorite. Do not miss trying the peach habanero! Wow!! The new food options are nice addition this year. Jade our server was delightful and we really enjoyed chatting with her. My only disappointment is they don’t have a wholesale distributor yet in Maryland/Delaware beaches where I live 😉. So I have to stock up every time I’m here.

Stowe Cider is always a treat. The staff flight is excellent and I highly recommend the single varietal and the wine barrel aged ciders (of which 2 bottles left with me). Also got a pour of the Tips Up which is just as good as I remember!
The food ordering being separated from the cider tasting is a bit awkward and actively resulted in me not ordering food, despite it smelling and looking really good. That being said, would come back to taste more of the drinks.

Top notch ciders! We stopped in to try a few flights and get a taste for nearly their entire menu. We happened to be the only ones there that afternoon which worked out for us. The place was very welcoming and the staff friendly. The ciders were great too, with several imaginative flavors. They had a little live music as well which was fun. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're driving by, or picking up cider from a shop around the region!

Glad we were able to keep this apart of our vacation adventure, the ciders are delicious. I got a seasonal flight and none of the flavors disappointed, my favorite was the blackberry one. Atmosphere was cool watching the people stock up shelves and disassemble palates of stuff for the cidery. Is it a cidery? A brewery is for beer, a winery is for wine, it seems fitting a cidery is for cider, even the crepe place we went to was a crepery.
Anyways... It was a great experience. We ordered wings, they were out of jerky, so we got a double of the BBQ, great flavor. Great service. Definitely a great place to check out

Stowe Cider creates the finest ciders that I’ve ever tried. My personal favorites are the High and Dry and Mountain Glow. The facility itself is top notch, including a fantastic music venue, plenty of places to relax, and a helpful friendly staff.
The attached restaurant, Shakedown Street, has the best BBQ in town. We enjoyed everything that we tried, the ribs were a standout for me.
We enjoyed Stowe Cider so much that we made it our home base on a recent trip to the mountain. We expect to do the same on our next visit!

The Stowe Pinnacle is a mountain peak in central Vermont that offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The hike up is short and steep, but well worth it for the incredible view at the summit.

Amazing hike, but be prepared… I hiked yesterday (April 16, 2023) and it was all-terrain. The snow is melting at the top so the hike included a lot of mud, water from melting snow, snow, and ice. For a good portion, I was essentially stepping up rocks (that would normally be stepping stones) but it was like climbing up a gentle stream. If I didn’t have my hiking boots and trekking poles, I wouldn’t have had fun… and could easily have been injured. (I’d call myself an intermediate hiker. There were other people who made it up/down without boots/poles, but I wouldn’t have wanted to. I saw someone else wipe out going down because they slipped in the mud.) From the first parking lot, you go up a hill (less attractive and you might start to wonder if the whole hike is going to be like that), turn onto flat ground (with a lovely view), and then the real hike begins. Given the conditions, though the sign where I parked calls it a “short” hike, it took me 3.5 hours round trip. Overall, it was a challenging hike, but I’m glad I did it and the summit view is gorgeous.

Amazing hike and views from the top! It can be quite windy at the top so pack a jacket and plenty of water. The trail is rugged throughout, with either rocks, roots, or steep climbs facing you most of the way. It feels longer than it is because it's all uphill to the top right from the trailhead. Worth the effort though for one of the best views around.

This was our 3rd time climbing this trail but the first time we made it to the summit! The last couple times it was quite icy, but this time not at all, just a bit muddy in places. Making it to the top was SO worth it. The view was spectacular!! Also, it will now be my favorite trail because my boyfriend proposed to me at the summit! I had just set my camera up to take a bunch of times pictures of us at the summit & on the 3rd one, he pulled out the ring. I was so surprised! Anyway, great hike!

This is rated as a moderate hike. But it’s all relative. Our family hikes a lot and all agree it was one of the hardest we have ever done. Very steep and rocky. That being said we saw a couple of families with small kids and a ton of dogs up make them trek so it’s doable. And the view at the top is well worth the effort.

Gentle Giants Sleigh Rides & Carriage Rides in Stowe offers a charming way to explore the village's scenic roads and vistas. Whether you choose an open carriage to enjoy the fresh air or opt for a covered one during rainy weather, the ride promises picturesque views and memorable moments.
We were able to get a ride for just us on the same day just before the snow melted. It was about 30min, which was a perfect amount of time to take in the sights. I should have written this after our Thanksgiving get-away (2022) and am finally getting to it! I could not believe what I saw. The horses were standing in thick mud and one of them had missing hair near the bridle area where you could tell it had been on for too long without being changed. I grew up with horses and felt so sad for these animals. My husband and I walked away because we will not support this type of animal care! I should have taken pictures of the mud and the condition of these horses!

This is a great place for a family hike. The trails are wooded and beautiful. There isn't much elevation gain which is great for all ages. The path is straightforward and swings by some fun things to see including a gnome's home and a sugar shack. We passed several groups along the hike and everyone was very respectful of distance and put on a mask. This is a great hike just outside of stow, definitely worth the detour.

They are masters of the art of glass blowing and will help you create beautiful works of art that you'll never forget. Their studio is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, and the class with Michael was absolutely phenomenal. Your glass creations will arrive safely packaged just three days after class is finished!
Going to Little River Hot Glass Studio was a highlight of our trip to Stowe. The owners are so friendly and willing to show us how they create their hand crafted pieces. They are all each a work of art in and of itself. We could have spent all day here and we came home with 2 glasses and a oversized spinning marble on a dish. This is a must do, must see and must buy and bring home some art when in Stowe!

My best friend and I had a great experience at little River Hot Glass Studio. Definitely want to do this again!

The word beauty cannot describe the art that is on display. Michael Trimpol is a true artist in his craft. If you are anywhere in the area, GO! You will not be disappointed.

We randomly saw the shop and decided to make an appointment for a lesson. It was such a great decision! so much fun and a great experience. we walked away with lovely glass pieces and also purchased a beautiful set before we left. Highly recommend - a deal for the experience and to walk away with a little souvenir as well.

Beware that the owner’s sense of humor is NOT for everyone. We planned a glass-making session during a recent stay at Stowe for our anniversary but had to leave the session after just 15 minutes with the owner. We have a good sense of humor and wanted to give him a chance, but the rude, condescending and strange comments were too much!
For example, as we were skimming over the waiver form before signing, he told us that signing didn’t matter. Negligence would be impossible to prove and besides, if we were to get hurt that he would simply cut up our bodies, burn us in the furnace, dump our remains in the back and get rid of our car. No one would ever know. And he said this with a strange arrogance, no laugh or chuckle to reassure us that he was just kidding. It was all really strange.
As we were getting started, he told us to stand in front of him. We stood in front but he sarcastically said “no, not there, here.” And then he started the lesson and asked us questions like “What do you think happens when we take the glass out of the furnace?” My wife said “it’ll be malleable” “it’ll be hot and soft “ and he rudely said “yeah sure, but NO! What else??” The rude and condescending comments just escalated from there. He finally said you’ll understand my sense of humor eventually, to which we had enough — we said we are adults, paying customers and do not deserve to be treated that way. We didn’t want to be treated like that for an hour (especially since we were paying almost $200 for the hour), so we left.
We were looking forward to the activity, but we have never experienced such blatant rudeness like this before. Maybe he was having a bad day, but his bad day ruined ours. Not acceptable.

We can’t speak highly enough about our wonderful experience at Little River Hot Glass Studios! Monique was so sweet to work with during scheduling and our class with Michael was phenomenal. Michael is incredibly knowledgeable but also patient and takes the time to make sure you really learn and appreciate each step of the process. It’s rare that you find a true master of a craft who also has the ability to teach newbies like us- but Michael pulled it off all while keeping us laughing the whole time! Our glass creations arrived to us safely packaged just 3 days after our class! If you’re looking to try something new, definitely give Michael and Monique a call! We definitely plan to rerun sometime soon!

My wife and I had a lot of fun making our own glass pieces. Michael was funny and very knowledgeable, he took the time to answer all questions throughly. If you are looking for something fun and different to do while in the area I definetly recommend it! We had a great time. It's nice bringing back a souvenir we actually got to make.

Such a great experience. A must do if you’re close to Stowe. They are always blowing glass and explain the whole process. Very enlightening and such a beautiful store with so much to choose from.

Highly recommend the hands on experience of making your own paperweights. This was the highlight of our trip to Vermont.
Several years ago I did a glass experience at Corning and the class at Little River was so much more hands on and rewarding. The owner was very patient, detailed and continued to answer our many questions about the glass blowing process. My husband was very happy to be offered the option to leave his paperweight finished as he had completed it and not to have it finished (and made the best it could be) by the artists. I was happy to have my finished.
When we were not actively engaged with the glass we were encouraged to take photos and videos of each other during the process and were even told in advance the best places to stand for photos at each stage of the process. It was great to be told this in advance so we knew where we could be to get a few mementos and not be in the way. A wonderful experience all around.
5.15.22 Every Catholic Church is different inside and out so that's why I enjoy visiting as many as I can. This was probably my 70th+ different Catholic Church and what a beautiful experience. Inside was all wood and not your traditional stained glass. What was most amazing was the priest. He was personable and gave a beautiful homily. As a visitor I could tell how much his parishioners adored him.

A small church with local roots. Walking in, you get that familiar scent of a Catholic Church (I don’t know if it’s frankincense or just the spiritual energy in the air). It has much unique artwork.

I really love the understated appearance of this church. The artwork is beautiful and intimate, really takes you into the lesson being portrayed. Also I like the energy the parishioners share.
The von Trapp Brewery is an Austrian brewery & beer hall located in the Trapp Family Lodge. It produces a variety of lagers all named after characters from The Sound of Music, including IPAs are not offered here. While the brewery is open to visitors during ski season, a tour can be arranged for those interested in learning more about the history and production of beers here.
Prost! 5 stars for the von Trapp Brewery & Bierhall! I had such a lovely time at lunch here! We were thankful to be seated by the large windows overlooking the beautiful outdoor setting. It's easy to picture yourself in Austria for a moment while enjoying their delicious German food! The von Trapp grandchildren were even seated at the table next to us! I really enjoyed the cheddar ale soup and pretzels for an appetizer. I shared a burger with my friend, which was more than enough food, especially combined with the German potato salad as our side. I'm not a huge beer fan, but I did notice they offer many award winning options. I opted for the hard cider instead, which was very refreshing! Reservations are highly recommended. They also offered a complimentary shuttle to take us to and from the von Trapp Lodge, which was much appreciated!

You can just grab a beer and look at the Brewery while drinking. You don’t need an appointment if you’re just going for the drinks but you’ll need one if you’re going to eat too. You can sit on the top floors of a hall to look at the Brewery. You can get in while going or coming down after skiing. The beers were average but you can surely give it a try.

We headed here to grab a beer and play some disc golf on the on-site 18 hole course. What we didn't expect was a full blown Oktoberfest happening when we arrived!
The owner was exceptionally accommodating and let us in without tickets to grab a beer. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the musicians play while drinking our beverages.
They didn't have any gluten free beer for me, so I was stuck with cider again. We were really wanting to grab a quick bite also, but since there was a festival going on, we couldn't because we hadn't paid for a ticket and everything they were offering was full of meat and wheat. No good for a vegetarian with Celiac.
While that didn't pan out (and the reason for 4 stars), the disc golf course was fantastic! Great signage and tee pads and very scenic. We would definitely play this course again if we're ever back up this way.
Shanah Bell — Google review
The outdoor seating here was lovely - cornhole games were free for folks to play and the scenery was gorgeous. The side dishes were all very unique and tasty, as well as the main courses. It’s a teensy bit on the pricey side, and they kinda phrased the pretzel as if it was free like bread (it wasn’t) so that caught us off guard a bit. But in all, in was tasty!

Great stop in the Stowe area. Can get busy so keep your happiness shining.
We sampled four different brews and all were excellent.
Dinner was great. The cheese soup is delicious.
The help was cheerful and quick to assist.
Enjoy yourself here, it's easy!

Great food and view. Waitress was wonderful. There was a mistake with the hubby’s order but it was all good. We ordered the salmon, burgers, and ribeye. Kids got lemonade and lemon mapleade. Would definitely go here again when we are back in town.

Enjoyed the beer and food here after a wicked mountain bike ride! Had a tasting of 3 non-hoppy beers and enjoyed them all especially the maple one. Great environment that is family friendly!

AMAZING DISC GOLF it felt like i was adventuring in a video game. So so much fun and great variety of terrain and difficulty level. I also went on a BREWERY tour which was quite interesting and very detailed. When eating at this establishment however, they tended to fall short. Not only was the food mostly for show, but the wait was 1-2 hours long which was unacceptable for the overpriced and underrepresented food. I would recommend going once but never coming back.
Haley Green — Google review
First off it’s a beautiful place and the adjacent disc golf course looks very nice. The problem is that they don’t really care about you, the customer. At 2:30 in the afternoon the wait for a table is an hour and a half. Oh, there are plenty of open tables which you can see in my photos, but the customers are already here so they can be made to wait. The second problem is the cost - each 16 oz pour is $8 and a pretzel must be like $20. (Edit: pretzel is $10 and beer cheese dip is an extra $5). Despite the cost, there is only a single line to order beers and it’s a 20 minute wait (it reaches nearly to the front door). Beautiful place and it’s worth seeing once, but it’s a one and done kind of place.
Edit: it seems like weird queuing methods are kind of a thing in Vermont, so I guess I can’t really fault them too much.
H G — Google review
We started with disc golf around 930am, by the time we were done there was about 15 minutes before they opened. I tried to make last minute reservations online but was unsuccessful. So we waited for opening knowing we may not get a table. They seated us right away! We enjoyed EVERY BIT of our meal and drinks. The Radler is AMAZING! we started w the pretzel & beer cheese, split the bratwurst and crackers & dips tray. They were out of hummus but I wasn't sad (more trout dip for us!). Plus the view does NOT SUCK! Is it cheap? No. Is it astronomical? No. I think for the atmosphere, the delicious food and drink, it was 100% worth it.

We were referred by a local and were expecting a bit of a tourist trap. Instead we ended up having a delicious dinner. The beer hall and restaurant are a bit cavernous with an over abundance of game trophy heads on the wall. But the beer and the food was fantastic.
We all ordered a side salad which was loaded with tomatoes, beets, cucumbers and lettuce. It was a bit heavy on dressing but the veggies were very flavorful. I had the salmon which had an amazing maple dressing- it wasn’t too sweet or overpowering and complimented the well-portioned and perfectly cooked meat. It came with a large portion of vegetables and farro - the veggies were a bit crunchy and not overcooked, really perfect with the salmon.
The Chicken Schnitzel was great- very tender, excellent flavors and a good size portion. The Burger was large and juicy, very flavorful.
We finished up with the Apple Strudel because when in (faux) Austria… it was huge, warm and not too sweet. We split it three ways and still couldn’t finish it.
Definitely recommended- and get a reservation!

Jeff the bartender was fast and efficient and very helpful and knowledgable about the menu. Most of my fries were burnt but, the chicken schnitzel was amazing. I ordered the dunkel beer and had the apple strudel. Total bill $48.00. Free surface parking lot. Trust me skip the fries and get the gaddang apple strudel!!!!!! Soooo good. 💕💕💕💕👌🏽👌🏽 make reservations for a big party if not sit at the bar they accept walk ins for the bar.

The food and beer was good but prices are on the high side but it’s in a resort area. We had Helles and Vienna. While both were good, I wish they offered beer sampler to try little bit of their offering. It reminded us a bit of bier-halls experience. We enjoyed the lunch overall, 3.5 stars for me.
PS, dogs are allowed in outdoor dining area.

The Bierhall is an awesome place to gather. There is an on-site disc golf course, which is a great activity for people of all ages. The pretzels and dipping sauces make a delicious snack to go with your beer after a round of disc golf!

This was a very nice brewery. The atmosphere was bright and refreshing. The staff was very kind and attentive. There are some good beers to try here. Food was very well presented and tasted great. We sat out in the covered greenhouse area which has amazing views of the meadow-like woods nearby. There also seems to be som nice walking paths around the property.

What a gem! First of all, I'm not a big IPA guy, I love lagers and pilsners and this place has many delicious options. Set on an amazing piece of land overlooking Mt. Mansfield, the outdoor sitting/chilling area is massive and has loads of corn hole sets to play while you wait for you table. I guess I've never had proper Austrian food as this food was beyond delicious. I had the three sausage plate and the flavor combinations were heavenly. The service was great. I can't say enough. Fantastic experience all around for my entire family.

beautiful location in the top of hill in Stowe, nice and spacious areas to enjoy beers and food. Service was great, popular spot so plan in advance if you want a table.
A spot that’s part of many brewery tours, the selection of Austrian beers is decent, and very traditional. If you’re not a fan of Austria beers this might not stand out to you. The food was ok, the beer paired very nicely with the food, overall a enjoyable experience.

The Bierhall is a good place to go for dinner. The food is pretty good and the experience continues on the Austria in Vermont feel you get with von Trapp. This place is also very busy, it was super noisy and the service was a little slow at times. The dessert was really good! Prices here are middle to high range for dinner, but that’s as expected in this area. I would recommend trying it out if you’re thinking about it, just make sure to get a reservation!!

Absolutely amazing place. We walked in to amazement on how beautiful the building is. The bierhall is beautifully illuminated at night. We sat at the bar and had great conversation with the bartenders and enjoyed some amazing beer. (I recommend the Dunkel if your into dark and smooth brown ales, and the UberTrosten is also a high octane smooth beer). We had a couple apps including the bratwurst which really hit the spot after a day of skiing. We had the ribeye and chicken snitzel for dinner,.. both were incredible. One of the best meals we have had while visiting Stowe, VT. I definetly recommend this place if you are in town!

Went here after spending the day at Stowe. Got the Gose and the Chez one. Both were phenomenal! My friends also got the Vienna and they enjoyed that one so much they got a 6 pack to go! I got the beer pretzel and my friend got the 3 sausages. If you are in the area you got to make sure to make a stop here.

A little better then average! Amazing space but not 5-star hospitality and service. Food was also average. Definitely worth going as it was historic and amazing ambiance.

I was there on a Thursday night, great atmosphere! The bar was busy and I got to sit next to these huge windows and look out at the snow and mountains while I had a drink and dinner. The helles beer is very good! I even got a 6 pack to bring home. I will definitely go here again when I am back in Stowe

Nice little restaurant for when you’re craving something different. The beer selection although not extensive was great. We loved all the beers we tried. We also recommend the cheeseburger and pulled pork sandwich.

The Stowe Free Library is a beautiful and spacious building with a modern attitude. It offers books, movies, magazines, newspapers and free wi-fi for residents and visitors alike. Beautiful library with lovely staff. Nice computer room. Great book selection.

Ridiculously loud. It is as if they don't want anyone to actually be able to read or study. Staff laugh at the top of their lungs, bang on things to emphasize how funny they are and have loud, babbling brook conversations with "patrons" encouraging chatter, walk tourists around talking at the top of their lungs, all of which can be heard from the only "quiet" room which is not insulated and the door is kept open.
