The Caterpillar Visitors Center offers interactive exhibits showcasing the company's history and powerful machines, including diggers, tractors, and trucks from vintage to modern. The exhibition center is staffed by friendly individuals who are knowledgeable about CAT. Their dedication extends to teaching young children how to operate simulation machines and vehicles. Expert testimonials have described the museum as awesome. Recommended for those interested in learning more about this monster machine company.
Awesome experience to learn this monster machine company. My father in law worked for caterpillar for over 35 years. We know it is an awesome and powerful company that he’s always been proud to work for. The exhibition center is very nice, we learned a lot of things about CAT and the staffs here are very nice and friendly.

Okay, so I mostly went here for my boys, ages 3 and 6 years, but ended up entertaining not only myself, but my 10 and 8 year old girls. We got to climb into actual Caterpillar machinery, learn about engines and saw a few of their best marketing campaigns. We enjoyed ourselves.

this place has a cool exhibit, lots of interesting history displayed, and very knowledgeable and kind staff. Norbert, one of the retired CAT employees, was very knowledge in the field and was more than willing to go the extra steps to help us learn about the history of CAT and how it became the company it is today. if we ever were in town again, we would 100% come back and plan of recommending this place to others!

A great place to visit if you’re interested in the history of Caterpillar. There are many things too see but the only thing that will catch your eyes is the big mining truck. There are some pretty cool simulators which you can sit on and try using the different controls. The employees working here are retired Cat employees. I was assisted by Skip and Rose. Had a great conversation with both of them. Very kind , sweet and knowledgeable. Thank you.

It's great fun for boys ages 1 to 62! This was a fun cousin memory. Kids under 12 are free, and adults are only $7, so it is a very cost-effective family activity.

If you like to know about Caterpillar history it is a good place to visit. The tour starts with a video about the global footprints and the services the company is doing. When you go downstairs you can witness the 100 year old long history and the company's evolution. They showcased every possible product they produce and there are some simulators in which you can sit and operate, and you can feel the machine operation. There are some CAT merchandise available for sale upstairs.

Not only was this place awesome to see, but every single person that worked there was absolutely amazing! They even took the time to teach my young kids how to maneuver the simulation machines and the few vehicles that they could get in. Would definitely recommend going!!

Very well done and cool museum. After reading some reviews, thought it would be smaller than what it was, but thought it was overall a well done history of the company. Getting to see some equipment on display was fun and then the simulators were cool as well.

Lots of fun for the whole family! There are simulators to try, Cats to hop on and sit in, a seven room engineering museum type thing- and all of the employees are really nice too.

We saw a sign for this place on the highway and visited it on a whim. Street parking is available, which you can pay for easily by phone. It is 7 USD for adults and free for the kids. You enter the cargo area of their mining truck to watch a short video, then take the stairs to the display area. Very clever way to display and get people to appreciate the truck's size. The kids enjoyed the simulator, which lets you practice several pieces of equipment. Much better quality than those simulators you find in other places. I guess these were developed for actual training.

It is very cool to see the history of how it started from a small to large truck. The simulation is very great. There is a cinema in a big truck. This museum is worth your time.
Only one negative - there don't have to access to offer such subtitles (closed captioning). I hope they can provide them for deaf or people who are in need of it.

You start the experience watching a movie in the back of a large mining truck. Then you continue on a self-guided tour of the history of CAT. Kids can climb into various CAT machines. There are interactive experiences to drive CAT bulldozers and excavators. We spent about an hour there.

As supplier it was a honor.

We went right when it opened on a Thursday morning so it wasn't crowded at all . All of the workers are very knowledgeable and very friendly. They have lots of information about caterpillar and like sharing it .
Amazing to see the life like replica of the dump truck . It's huge
The simulators for the heavy equipment are cool as well .
Peoria Zoo is an impressive park that boasts over 100 species from around the world, including some that are endangered. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes and exploring African installations. Although tickets may be slightly expensive, the overall experience is worth it. One of the main highlights of the zoo is the wooden bridge which provides access to a fantastic vantage point for viewing giraffes. Another exciting attraction is the lion viewpoint where visitors can hear the roar of these majestic animals.
I've been to this zoo 4 times. It has 4 sections; combined it took us about 90 minutes. All the animals are up close. The entire zoo has a balance of sun and shade. Quite a few animals for a small zoo. Very stroller friendly; ramps instead of stairs. The 3 sections are:
1.) "the original section" which is a building that has monkeys, foxes and an outside area with a barn with goats and donkeys and a conservation center
2.) an Asian section which has a handful of exhibits with animals like tigers and takins, and a small building with snakes and bats
3.) an African section which takes up almost half the area with big enclosures for rhinos, zebras, and the like
4.) an Australian walkabout
Zoo is very clean, well-maintained - and can do as much or as little as you like. And.. there's a children's museum within walking distance as well!

Nice smaller zoo. My fiance was very happy with the three giraffes. It was very quiet with not many people, but it was Monday afternoon. This was actually a plus for us since it seemed more intimate without a bunch of people.
Kelly Carver — Google review
Terribly disappointed. The whole reason I went there was to see a naked mole rat which was featured on the website.( the only other zoo with naked mole rat is Bronx).
There is major construction there, you can see like 3 animals in total.
But weather was nice and walking through the zoo was nice, hence 2 stars.

We love our zoo!
My kids are 3 and 4, and we have so much fun when we go.
Not everything is open yet this year and we still spent an hour and half looking at the different animals.
(4/21)
I would recommend the family pass if you live close by.
It can be crowded at times, but with the pass we have been really lucky to feel like we had the exhibits to ourselves for a nice amount of time if you go at slow parts of the day.
So happy to have a zoo like this close by!
Chris Tapp — Google review
It's a small zoo but the kids enjoyed themselves. They do not have a carousel or train like some other zoos but my kids didn't notice. Can get through the zoo in about an hour, 2 max. Most animals were active when we were there in mid March with temps in 50s. Only animals that were still not in exhibits due to cold were the alligator and tortoise as expected.
Samantha Merten — Google review
Very nice and well kept zoo right in Peoria. All of the exhibits were easy to see in 1 day and there were employees who were able to talk about the animals. Do not sleep on this zoo if you have never been!
Mike McGillivry — Google review
This zoo needs some TLC. We enjoyed it, but it's not as nice as it was when I went in 2008.
I love being able to get close to a giraffe. I wish we could have been able to feed it ourselves. I didn't think it was quite worth $5 just to stand closer to it. The Walk About was probably my favorite part. I didn't read the sign and had a big surprise when there was a Wallaby right inside the gate just sitting there 😳😂
I thought the exercise trail/QR codes were really cool!
Sherie Loverkamp — Google review
The best small town zoo around. We drove down from the Quad Cities and it was absolutely worth it! We will definitely be coming back again and again. The design is great they definitely took line of sight into consideration because you actually get to see the animals. The Australia walk about is so cool! Being so close to the animals free roaming around is awesome. Feeding the Giraffe is the best! The amount of shade going through the zoo is great! You aren't baking in the sun the whole time you're there, you're actually in the shade most of the time. Their food and drink options are great and they don't cost an arm and a leg like other places. The gift shop is large and has a great selection, again it is very reasonably priced. Just all around a fantastic zoo.
The one "bad" thing I do want to say is the walking paths are a little beat up. It was a little difficult pushing a stroller and walking you do have to watch out for potholes and large cracks. There are also some steep inclines that older and disabled might find difficult.
Aaron White — Google review
Africa part of the zoo is good, the rest of the areas are not at all appealing. There is large snake I was surprised with the size of the snake it’s huge. The lion doesn’t have enough room I feel like and over all it’s ok one time thing. The cafeteria hardly has any items on the menu, even those that are on menu weren’t offered as their machine broke.

Not very many animals. It was an OK zoo. Was it work 12.50? Not really in my opinion. But we did go at the end of March. 🤷♂️
Peoria Riverfront Museum is a diverse museum that combines both art and science exhibits. It features a sculpture garden, planetarium and giant-screen theater. Visitors can enjoy various exhibits such as reading areas, drawing lessons and art galleries. The admission fee is reasonable for what it offers, with additional discounts available for members of selected museums. One can even purchase COVID stuffies at the gift shop! Overall, Peoria Riverfront Museum provides an enjoyable experience for all ages at an affordable cost.

I'm not sure if it was worth the 50+ I paid to get into the museum, but it's definitely worth it to stop by at least once. My favorite exhibits were the the non-permanent ones I believe. My first favorite was the quilt exhibit. It was a surprisingly fun and hearttugging. It was hard not to feel like the room was hugging you.
My other favorite was Disney exhibit. It was fun seeing original drafts.
The view from the museum was gorgeous as well

Very nice museum. Easy to go through. $15 per person, no need to buy tickets in advance. Lots of employees on site to help out with any questions and they were super nice. We were there on AG day so got a mini interactive exhibit of that too. Definitely worth the price and has some cool stuff inside.

Great cultural attraction in Peoria complete with interesting exhibits, a giant screen theater, and a planetarium!
As an artist who has sold merchandise in their gift shop, created custom designs (they purchased PRM-specific artwork from my 100 Days of Peoria project) and collaborated on a Makers Market (back in 2018), I appreciate how much the museum cares about supporting local and developing the arts community through programming as well as how easy they were to work with.

My daughter and I enjoyed our visit on a Saturday; she's 8.5 yo and it was our first visit (we live in Normal), we loved the exhibits, she enjoyed the reading area and the drawing lesson. We watched the Rocky Express in the giant theater, there was an art gallery in the basement (or first level), we ended up paying ~31 for the museum and the Rocky Express + 7 for the large popcorn, I thought it was affordable, though the Museum is relatively small and perhaps if we had more time to visit the planetarium it would justify the cost for us, We arrived ~2:40 PM. Still very affordable though and we got $1 discount on entrance for being member of our town's Children's Museum. Fun fact: they sell COVID stuffies...see the pics.

The Peoria Riverfront Museum is the spiritual successor to the Lakeview Museum.
The Lakeview Museum is a place that I cherished due to going there often as a kid. When they announced it was closing and they were going to build a new museum on the riverfront, I was excited and sad. Excited to see this new place yet sad at the closing of a childhood memory.
Matt, Erin, and I decided to check it out as it was too late in the day to travel far but still early enough to see some sights. As we approached the counter and paid, I was super surprised at the cost to get in. I want to say it was around $15-18 a person. The museum was new, big and exciting so I was expecting a fee to get in but not that steep of one. Regardless of that, we paid and went about exploring.
At the time of our visit, it was fairly empty so we had the entire place to ourselves. The first thing I got distracted by was this giant circulating thing hanging from the rafters. It was blue and slowly spinning. The thing was mesmerizing to watch. Erin and Matt had to remind me we had the rest of the museum to explore, so I finally looked away and we started walking around.
Up first was a Caterpillar exhibit. The company Caterpillar is a huge part of the identity of Central Illinois. It’s also one that I don’t have much interest in. I grew up around people that worked for Cat, around Cat’s production facilities and even worked for a company that worked for Cat for a few years after high school. I can say that I have had sufficient Caterpillar information in my life, so beyond seeing some of the displays, there was no interest in any of us on the overall showing.
We moved on to some art hanging on the walls and a few other odds and ends to look at. At a certain point, I think we went down one level and encountered a kids and teens area. This was the REALLY interactive part of the museum. The stuff I like. We came across a lot of fun machines to play around with. One of them was a pitching machine that would measure your throwing speed. Another was an arm wrestling machine. If I remember right, you could set the resistance and try to force the metal arm down. You can see a glimpse of that in the photos below. We moved on from those and encountered some other things to play with but they were meant for little kids so we were too big for them.
After that, we left. We spent maybe an hour here? I remember leaving and thinking… that’s it? I do feel like we missed something. There is a planetarium in the museum but after paying the hefty fee to get in, we were kind of strapped for cash and we weren’t sure if they were showing anything at the time of our visit.
I would love to return as they have a revolving main exhibit that always seems interesting. They had a Lego one at some point but I couldn’t find anyone else that liked Legos enough to go check it out. I really do think we came at a time when there wasn’t a big exhibit going on and we only got to experience half of what the museum has to offer.

There is always some new exciting exhibit to check out. They have a wonderful planetarium show. There are galleries full of different, interesting pieces to learn about. They have different groups that put on interactive activities in the main area from time to time. The underground parking is convenient for cars. They also have streeside parking.

What a great place for a day visit. The staff was incredible and made everyone feel welcome. The kids' movie on the weekend was fun for the whole family, and then it was followed by a visit from Belle. The whole crowd loved it. Now that we're at the end of the holiday season, the shop has been a lot of fun with the kids. The highlight of the museum would be the Body Works exhibit. Very educational.

Dozer Park is a contemporary stadium that can accommodate up to 7,500 people and serves as the home ground for the Peoria Chiefs, a minor league baseball team. The stadium's central location makes it an attractive destination for spectators of all ages, and even those who are not particularly fond of baseball will find plenty of entertainment options available. Throughout the season, there are numerous promotions and fireworks displays that add to the excitement.

3.5. If I hadn’t been to so many other ballparks, this may be higher. It’s fine…but feels a little plain & outdated. Like 2003,not 2023. Nice setting downtown, urban backdrop. Good sight lines, nice staff, decent enough concessions. But it’s the old (pixelated) scoreboard, the poor sound system, the paper tickets, cash only parking, broken / loose seats, etc., that makes things feel dated. Would we go back, if in the area? Sure. But I can see why it was only about 25% full, on a nice Saturday evening in June, as well.

We went with a family member
because his company has a box.
The Chief's won that night.
And we all had fun watching the game.
Our grandsons had fun watching Homer
and learning about the game of baseball.
Homer didn't visit us.
We should have had our door open, I guess.
If we did that, our grandkids
might have escaped
and been running down the hallway.
Those boxes are a really nice way
to watch a baseball game.

Great baseball venue, lots of good spectator activities before, throughout, and after the game, and a decent variety of foods available. Food prices were moderately high with a pretty long wait after ordering. Overall a really good experience.
The Peoria Civic Center is a spacious venue that hosts various performances, college basketball games, and events. It's a great facility that offers entertainment options such as hockey games, conventions, monster truck rallies, and roller derby matches. The theater is also comfortable with excellent views of the stage. Recently, fans attending the Slipknot concert were pleased to find a Hall area organized for them to wait in line indoors instead of outside in chilly April weather.
Loved this venue. There was no waiting, even for drinks, no problems at all. It was very well organized, and the sound system was lit! I'll drive another 2 hrs if one of my favs is in concert there.

Russian Ballet Feb 2022 was pretty boring on a small far-away stage. The sitting arrangements were not good either. The rows are very close to each other. They packed the whole theater even during COVID. They won’t let anyone take their purse, which is little big. Charged $10 for parking but later realized that we could have parked at CAT parking for free. Me & my husband are not ballet person. We gave it a try but didn’t liked it. You might enjoy it if you like ballet.

Mid-sized 11,000 seat arena that is well laid out for its age - great views from every seat and easy access to concessions & restrooms. As you can see from the pictures, the ventilation system needs a major upgrade to accommodate indoor motorsports like monster trucks, demolition derby, motocross, etc.

Sound was awesome and my seats had an amazing view for the whole show. Seating was a little too tight for my liking but overall a good venue. Security did a great job handling 2 women that thought they could steal other people’s seats because they weren’t smart enough to book their whole group together.
Sam G — Google review
We came here from out of state, 3 hours away. We were here to see a concert. It was an incredibly hot day, so the staff brought out water coolers and cups for us while we waited in line, which was very appreciated. Parking is simple, convenient, and reasonably priced here.
The security was professional while being helpful and friendly. The main guy outside before the show, I believe his nickname was Lucky was amazing when it came to interacting with the crowd that was lining up outside. He made sure we all knew which lines to be in and that we all got inside on time for the vip and the show. He told everyone to stay hydrated and was instrumental in keeping it a friendly, calm environment for such a large crowd of people. He was a communicator and people person.
The venue was great. The set-up was nice. The merch booths were just inside the doors. There were multiple food and drink options and plenty of restrooms. It was easy to get around for being a big place. We had a meet and greet with the band, which was amazing. We had great spots in the front of the pit.
The security inside the venue was amazing. They stayed out of the way of the stage as much as possible except when they were helping to secure crowd surfers. They were all friendly. They tossed out mini bottled waters to the people in the pit who were getting overheated. There was a situation that unfolded on the left side of the pit between bands, and the security did a great job of getting all the kids out of the way and keeping the situation contained. The police quickly removed the person who was causing trouble.
Overall, it was a great set-up there. Everything flowed perfectly. The bands sounded amazing in the venue. Everything was organized great as far as getting everyone checked in before the show started and leaving everyone time to buy food, drinks, or merch before the show, although the booths were open throughout the show and the merch booths were still open as i was leaving. This was the biggest venue I've ever been to for a show and I was a bit nervous coming in about how everything would work out but it ended up being one of of the best shows I've ever been to and I will definitely come back to see another show here in the future and I recommend the veune to others for concerts as well.

I just visited for the first time; took my child for the Bluey Event.
positives: very organized, helpers were there for the parking, concession was very organized and ready.
negatives: The sound system was not working properly, or perhaps they didn't invest in that part for this program. It was hard to hear from Balcony level I. We were right in the front row. Also, the balcony guard edge is too high, so if it's kids event, avoid taking the first row, small kids can not see over the balcony edge.
All in all, the organization was impressive compared to another kids event that we attended at the Chicago Theater!

The museum is clean, well-organized, and offers picnic tables nearby for visitors to have lunch.

It's very clean, I'm always amazed at how the staff walks around picking up toys and wiping stuff down. My little one loves the farm area, and the pretend house with the kitchen, the kinetic sand tables, the water tables downstairs and tot town. It's advertised as 3 floors of fun but it's really only 2. The third floor simply doesn't have anything to do.
We visited on 4/27/2024 with a 1 and 2 year old. Both were entertained and seemed to have a decent time. I think it should have been cheaper for the 2 year old but overall the prices are in line with every other expensive post Covid price these days.

I was completely shocked to find the zoo in shambles. It is a very sad sight for me to see. The zoo was such a special place for me as a child. To see it in such disrepair is extremely depressing. Everything needs fixed. The trails are cracked & confusing. There is nothing anywhere. There was nowhere to get a drink nor snack. The giraffe enclosure is so very small. The glass everywhere throughout the zoo is filthy & clouded over. The animals looked miserable. It made me very sad & a little angry.
Back to the Peoria Playhouse…
How could anyone feel good about ignoring the ramshackle zoo just next door &, instead, investing money into a new structure while the zoo & animals suffer??? Shame on anyone that took part in this. The animals are living creatures that need us more than the kids need a place to play inside. Fix the zoo & fix the park first!!! Use the money that that generates to build new things! I’m absolutely appalled & disgusted.

We are members and we take our daughter here once or twice a week. She loves being here. The one thing that Peoria Playhouse needs to improve is updating their office hours. I took some time off from work, and my dad and I took my daughter today to the playhouse only to find out that they are closed due to some maintenance. I had checked their office hours online and it showed they were open and it's been an hour since and their online office hour still shows they are open! Now it seems like I have to call every time before driving to the playhouse. They need to be up to date about their online office hours.

I absolutely love this place. I bought a membership for my grandkids and added a caregiver so the parents can take them too. There is so much to do and learn. From farm life, and learning about agriculture, to learning how water moves. Making movies and the craft rooms are incredible. My two year old granddaughter loves the playhouse and asks to see the baby dolls that are in the play kitchen. It’s clean very well organized, the membership literally pays for itself in just a few trips. There are picnic tables nearby to go out and have a picnic. There are two playgrounds nearby and the Peoria zoo. Well worth coming for a visit!

This is a great spot to spend several hours with a busy toddler. There are so many different play areas that appeal to different interests. My 2yo loves the kinetic sand area upstairs & the train & water play areas downstairs. It’s directly next to the Peoria zoo so if you really want to make a full day of fun, you can easily visit both.

I have an 8yo., 5yo., 4yo., and 2yo. They all had a blast! We were here for 5 hours, which was the perfect amount of time to play and create at every exhibit.

This was a fun space that was pretty fun for our 2 year old. There were some exhibits that we skipped as they seemed too advanced for him, but they looked like they'd be a hit I'm the future! The area leading up to The Peoria Playhouse/Park District grounds was a bit run down, but the actual area was as well-kept as it can be for a cold January day. The staff was nice and very interactive. We'll be back!

We came here after going to the zoo. We are from MN and I have never been to place like this. Super cute and so much for the kids to do. Great for all ages. We had kids with age range from 3- 13 and they all enjoyed themselves. I wish we had a place like this in my hometown. 3 levels inside of all sorts of hands on activities. I didn't have to worry about my kid breaking something as it was all built with kids in mind. Loved that they had bins for "dirty" toys and they had hand sanitizer throughout. I did think the price was pretty high but if I lived closer, a membership would be reasonable. Hightly recommend going!

We always have a wonderful time when we visit, but this time we decided to have my son's 3rd birthday there. The fizzy painting project was fun, educational, and had all of the kids getting creative! Our party pal Debbie was so kind and helpful. You could tell she was a former educator by how wonderful she was with the kids! Miranda was very helpful and attentive as well. The room was spacious and we could use our own decor. It wasn't super structured, and help was available when it was needed. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a party venue for your little one!
Kelly Burt — Google review
First, let me start off by saying the only reason that this place got four stars instead of five was because they did not have outlet covers in the majority of their outlets that were easily accessible to the children. If you're going to have a place where hundreds of children of different ages come into play daily, you need to have all the safety precautions that you can have. With that being said, it was everything I expected. The main level and lower level have all of the toys, activities and hands-on experiences while the top floor is reserved for more quiet type space with some books and bean bag chairs. Among some of the things to do were a nice sized water play area, sand play area, 'magic' ball and tube area, and of course, grocery store daycare, movie theater, dentist and farm area plus more.
The most unique thing on the main floor is the giant floor keyboard with flashing colored lights. It is something to experience and all of the children that were there seemed to love that area!
The best thing about the Playhouse is there are at least two separate areas within the lower and main floors that allow for small children to be semi isolated and play with the same sort of toys but yet don't have to worry about being accidentally run over by older children.
Be aware though that they do not allow strollers, so you would have to park your stroller outside which in Peoria -'m sorry to say- is probably not a good idea, so leave the stroller at home.
It is well worth the cost to get in and I would recommend if you have more than two children or you plan to go more than two or three times a year that you definitely buy a membership. That would save you some money!

Great place to visit for the kids to play for a few hours. Staff was very friendly and great to deal with. They helped by son build a project to take home. Lots of interactive displays for the kids to play with. 3 levels to the building so they can run around to different things. I would recommend checking it out and the zoo is right around the corner so can make a morning trip with it.
Forest Park Nature Center is a vast nature preserve spanning over 500 acres, complete with trails that offer a variety of terrain and elevation changes. The park also features a natural history museum and bird observatory for visitors to explore. The trails are well-maintained and clearly marked, with stairs and inclines guiding travelers through the different paths. Wildlife can be spotted along the way, including turkeys, squirrels, and deer.
We did the luminary walk this weekend and it was really beautiful and fun. Lots of fun items for sale in the shop and we got to hear some really great live music.

Absolutely beautiful. I heard turkeys. I saw squirrels and deer. I went on the small 1 mile trail but I'll be heading back to walk the longer tails.

This is a fantastic place to visit if you love trails! As a trail runner, I found the outer loop trail a fantastic workout with plenty of elevation changes and variety of terrain. It was almost exactly a 5K run around the park, and the route included some very challenging hills, but the trails are in terrific shape. Very well-maintained, with lots of signage and lines of travel (stairs vs inclines, for example). I wasn’t able to see everything on my run, so I’ll definitely be coming back again as a visitor from the Quad Cities.

I took my daycare kiddos to the Forest Park Nature Center for a free nature hike for young children which was organized by Susie (from the library). There we meet another Susie and Carrie. Carrie took us around the trail were we saw much wildlife and beautiful plants, she was also very knowledgeable about her plants too with was nice! During our hike we were in the shade alot so we didn't have to worry too much about getting overheated. Afterwards we went back to the center and Carrie pulled out a turtle so the kiddos have some one on one interaction. Found out that the beautiful tree (that is inside the building) was actually created by the same company that created the "Tree of life" at Disneyland which is beyond cool! There were also some very cool pictures and things to learn from inside! Thank you everyone for all the hard work you do and for providing this free activity for my littles!

This is my favorite place to hike in the Peoria area and holds a special place in my heart. My fiancé and I went here on some of our first dates, and we got engaged here. I also recently had my bridal shower in the nature center building. Love it! The only sad thing is that dogs are not allowed.

Amazing hiking trails. On the strenuous side, hill-wise, with lots of rest areas. So much wildlife late June around dusk. Turkeys, deer, squirrels, many birds calling. Wonderful tree variety. Trails are well marked. Robin's Wake is the farthest in but well worth it if you have the time! It was remarkably uncrowded when I went, saw maybe a handful of other hikers in the two hours I was there.

This is a great place to go and spend some quality time outdoors in nature! It’s kid friendly (we took our toddler) but you’ll have to leave your dog at home. We went on a Sunday so the nature center was closed but we’ll be back to check that out too. Great place for a hike with the family!

Beautiful nature preserve with open welcoming visitors center with gifts, exhibits, community info, loaner hiking sticks and clean indoor restrooms. Even when the visitors center is closed.
We visited Mother's day and while it was steady it did not seem busy. Dog free is important to note.
Wonderful place to observe birds and more natural growth forest area.
We crossed a few little bridges but everything was currently dry. I would like to visit again after some rain. Medium trails were a challenge for my knees but the park had a really nice easy trail loop that goes across the street and is accessed by a public way through a private companies parking lot.
The visitors center is attended and the staff lady I met was very helpful and kind.

Beautiful park with easy hiking trails in Peoria. Great views - a little bit of an incline on some trails. Small gift store/nature center. Parking lot at the base of the trails. No pets allowed on trails, understandable. Very peaceful escape.

Went for a nice walk in this trail. Got to see some deer, squirrels, and a few different birds. Very nice to walk it during this time of the year. Nice shade provided by the tall trees and the cool air of fall made the walk super enjoyable. Would definetely recommend it to others. Is like a 3 mile loop and I had forgotten my walking tennis shoes wh3n we flew in so only had flip flops for the walk. So that's what I used for it and was pretty good. Besides getting my feet a little dusty from the dirt in the trail lol Is a very easy trail in my opinion. I would suggest it to others, espcially family with kids since the trail is pretty begginer type.

I remember coming here a few times as a kid on field trips. It was awesome as kid. They taught us about animals, bugs, nature and everything else outdoorsy. Then we got to hike a smaller trail as a group. Maybe this is what caused me to be such an avid outdoors person.
Coming back here after about 2 decades was a huge nostalgic trip. Nothing had changed from what I remember as a kid. I’m sure things have been changed and updated since the early 90’s, but it still retained that feel and look I remember as kid.
The main building has set hours, but I do believe you can hike there before they open, as long as you follow the rule of ‘no hiking before sunrise and after sunset’. Don’t quote me on that. Inside the building is a small gift shop. There are quite a few learning activity areas to enrich yourself on local foliage and fauna.
They hold a lot of events here, so you are surely able to drop in once a week and encounter some fun activity going on.
There are plenty of trails to hike. If you want a quick hike, they have short trails. If you desire something challenging, you can hike some tough trails. Just be careful, I know a few people who have wandered off the path and ended up in a business area of Peoria Heights.
The last time I was there, they had a 100-mile hike challenge. It was $10-15 to sign up and you record your hiking distances in a book there. Once you reach 100 miles, you get an award of some sort. I think it was a t-shirt and a certificate. Ive been wanting to sign up for it since I learned about it. But life gets busy. :/
Parking is plentiful but be warned; its a popular place, so there is usually a good amount of cars there at all time. But you shouldn’t have a problem most of the time finding a parking spot.
If you are native to the area and haven’t been here, do yourself a favor and check it out. If yo are from out of town, also do yourself a favor and stop by for a quick hike. You won’t regret it.

We live in Normal, IL. We visited here briefly because we had signed up for a hiking trip with the Peoria Park District (that we found out starts at Towny Oaks Visitor Center), very nice area to visit and do a quick hike, the visitor center is welcoming, we saw some girls scout, certainly great nature place to visit again.
First time here. Had an excellent experience! Was blown away with the establishment as a whole. A restaurant inside with televisions that showed the baseball diamonds so you could watch your child play while not being in the elements of outside! The food was great, although the service sucked. I had never seen so many parents sucking down alcoholic beverages at 9am!! Lol

This place is awesome. Have not play outdoors yet here, but twice now indoors. The field is in great shape. Fields are huge with 210 foot fences, and there is plenty of room to warm up before your game. They also have two of their batting tunnels in the dome too. Easy access in and out of the facility. First time being there we were very very impressed!! Even the streaming of the games and having archived videos available too. There is a charge, but come on, its worth it!!
the bar inside has great food too. the snack bar is fully stocked also. They do now allow outside food and drinks, which is normal, but first time they did not allow store bought coffee drinks from the outside, but they totally made up for it by changing it and allowing it since it helps their local business as well around the facility.
Would give more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Nice wristband pickup drive thru line and close parking to the field entrance. They do not allow wagons, but you're not carrying your stuff very far, so that wasn't a problem.

Not a good set up for volleyball courts. There are 4 courts set up but only using 2. Should have separated the 2 courts to allow for more spectator seating. They want you to bring in lawn chairs but don't allow enough space to do so. Some of the spector are rude and do not move their chair when their team is not playing which doesn't give you any room to watch your team that is playing.

First of all this where employees park, at the entrance crowding the handicapped spaces. The black SUV even had firefighter plates. The security guard advised the woman driving she could not park there and her response was "I work here". Secondly the lines at the concession stand are ridiculous when you cannot bring your own water in and have to wait 15 minutes to get a bottle of water because only one person working concession stand. The men's bathrooms were not cleaned at all during our two day tournament. Kids said the water provided in dugouts tasted bad so hence having to buy bottled water from concession stand. The only bonus to the visit was the fields are nice.

Nice clean venue, but very unorganized. I live in Peoria and was excited to see my nieces team play in the softball tournament mid October. Walked into the gate and was told I needed a wrist band. No signs stating wristbands required, and the cost was $32 for 2 wristbands. Yet some fans in the venue didn’t have to purchase one. No signs when pulling in stating wristbands required until after the first game. Next day, I asked what diamond teams were playing on. The worker at the gate and in the dome didn’t know. Walked around the diamonds and finally found them. I’m all about supporting sports, but providing better signage would help!

The Luthy Botanical Garden, located adjacent to the Peoria Zoo, is a stunningly beautiful 5-acre public green space filled with themed areas and an array of flowers. The garden boasts a conservatory where concerts are held, and there is also a gift shop. Visitors can enjoy different architectural pieces in the garden and learn about plants through Seuss-themed signs and information pieces. It is an ideal place for families as it's free to visit but donations are welcomed.
Got to walk around the outside garden; didnt get to see the greenhouse ad a wedding party was taking photos. it was pretty as it stands now. i can just imagine how pretty it would be in later fall or full bloom in early summer. The trails were perfect. 10/10!!

Luther Botanical Garden is gem hidden in Peoria Park. Very nice garden with some really nice hidden oasis’s in the midst of town. The greenhouse portion was really interesting and had a lot of interesting plants. The gardens were nice but several were in need of some TLC. Could be spectacular but it needs some work.
Saw the sign from the highway and had to stop. Very cute park, nice view of the river. Only downside the homeless guy sharpening a spear behind a tree talking to himself. I have to give him props, he had a target shopping cart, not a Walmart shopping cart.

A small, but beautiful memorial located in the Riverfront Park of Peoria, IL that is dedicated to the local music legend Dan Fogelberg.
Personally, I do not know much of the music of Dan Fogelberg, but I thought I would stop by and pay my respects to a local legend.
I could not pinpoint the address for this place, but if you look up Riverfront Park, it is within that park. There are plenty of signs on the roads pointing to the park and memorial.

Been several years since I attended a performance here. Tonight was special, since I was invited to attend the musical "All Shook Up." My grandson is playing his sax in the band. His mother and the family wanted to attend the last performance. The performance was great, but some of it was a little more liberal than I felt comfortable with, but what the heck it's a performance and the performers we're sensational. I had a superb time with family and some fine performing. Doesn't get any better than that.

A nice little detour outside of the museum. I love the way it's put together. Nobody else around so that was nice.
I wish there was some placard or something just explaining a little bit about what it was about, maybe about the creator or inspiration to how things were designed. I had to look up info about it on my phone. Some type of explanation/background would be a great update.
Otherwise, a nice impactful memorial.

This is a good theatrical venue and we enjoyed seeing a show there. Sight lines, lighting, and sound all seemed great. The theater could use a refresh, though. The layout (two side aisles and no center aisle) can be a challenge to navigate, so be aware of that when purchasing tickets. More bathrooms would be a welcome addition.

Nice theatre! Really captivating shows with talented casts. Only reason I did not rate a five was due to the steepness off the aisles. I am guessing it was stairs at one time and they covered them with plywood in order to be ADA compliant.

Mostly well done performances. The sound is always terrible. We need sound techs with actual musical theatre knowledge or at least interest, so they can follow along to a show and understand how the levels should be based on what's in the script, the music and what each performers abilities are.
nick wronkiewicz — Google review
We have seen many shows at Players. Generally, there is very poor quality of sound with mics sounding muffled, over-compressed, feeding back, or just muted. Talent is normally what you would expect from community theatre.

Talent is an understatement; exceptionally satisfying, plus entertaining. Pleasing to see our youth having an opportunity to express themselves in a positive and highly respectable manner.

Wow, can't say enough about the talent here on the stage in Peoria! Great job by all, nice theater, full house. Saw the Music Man. Highly recommend!

Giant Oak Park is a one-acre recreational area characterized by a centuries-old bur oak tree with an impressive 100 ft branch span. The tree, which has been standing for over 500 years, is fenced off to protect it from damage. Visitors can enjoy the park's picnic table and ample grassy areas surrounding the majestic oak while contemplating its historical significance.
A nice spot to enjoy an ancient tree that is over 500 years old. You can't access the tree directly as it's surrounded by a fence to protect it. There is a picnic table and plenty of grass to walk around it and enjoy thinking about the amount of time it's been there.

Lol, reading some of the comments. Yes it’s a small park on a quiet street devoted entirely to honoring a truly Great burr oak tree, dated by international arborists to 1499!!!!! (thus, “not much going on” unless you have the imagination to realize how AWESOME that is, from so many perspectives).
It’s absolutely enormous —more like a grove of 20 trees all attached— but, as giant old trees do, somehow exudes gentleness and calm (as many other reviewers noticed). My 6-year old was plenty happy chatting with a local ginger cat who came out and greeted us, then retreated to its hedge at a safer distance... and then looking for interesting bugs and birds with me in the huge branches overhanging the iron fence. I’m so deeply grateful to the people that first decided to protect and honor this tree and all those who have carried the torch since then. Thank you so much!!!

Lovely old neighborhood, trees abound, historical plaque on Burr Oak Origin; great for walking

Nice small park around a very old tree. If you want a little piece of history about the Peoria area, definitely recommend. There is a large grassy area in front of the tree that is a good photo opportunity. There are also a few picnic tables and benches for seating. Additionally, noticed some pseudo trails going into the brush but not sure what they lead to.

So peaceful, no garbage around which is a plus!! The tree is a wonder to see

Really cool looking tree. Wish there was alittle more to look at or a nice trail. But the tree was worth the stop.

I love history and this tree is the epitome of history. Was planted in the late 1400's and my bestie in the pic took me here while I was visiting from Florida. Was breathtaking and worth a look see :)

A must-see for visitors to Peoria who love history.
Donovan Park is a serene expanse of land that offers cross-country skiing during winter months and houses the Northmoor Observatory. The park provides a tranquil atmosphere for visitors looking to enjoy outdoor activities, particularly skiing, amidst picturesque surroundings. Additionally, visitors can explore the Northmoor Observatory to observe celestial bodies and learn more about astronomy. Overall, Donovan Park is an ideal location for individuals seeking peaceful outdoor recreation opportunities in a natural setting.
Make-a-wish walk for the cure event was held here. We went to help drive this organization mission forward to not only grant wishes but help support the families and all involved. Some of the make-a-wish children were there and it was exciting to talk with them and have them explain what their wish was and what their favorite parts were and so on. Hearing the parents story was enlightening and heart breaking at the same time.

Love this park! My husband and I always come here to play catch and sit in the sunshine. Stop cutting down all the trees though.. like why? Let’s keep this nice park looking nice.

We go here often for exercise and to enjoy the environment when we grab a bite. The park has put in various statues and put picnic tables around.

Donovan is a magical place, especially during golden hour and dusk. The lighting bugs in the summer sit in the trees and meadow grass and twinkle.

Peaceful and absolutely beautiful park with trees, fields, grass, trails. Ample parking. Dogs welcome on a leash. See snow pictures update!
Michelle Bergey — Google review
This is a nice park in the middle of the city. Plenty of green space to walk or run. There are various sculptures throughout the park. The park is also good for cross country running.
Donovan also is an accredited Level 1 Arboretum. Northmoor Observatory is also located on the grounds.
In the winter people use the park for cross country skiing or snow shoeing.

This is a great place to take our dogs to walk. Almost every time we go, we see a deer or two, and plenty of bunnies. Great place to enjoy nature and have some quiet time. We even introduced one of our grand dogs to the park this last Friday.

Beautiful park in Central Peoria- a former golf course repurposed into prairie paths, many native trees and flowers, ponds with Geese, tree groves where you can find owls and deer etc. Kids enjoy one of the former sandpits now filled with trucks. Check out CxT coffee, the Noshery, Cyds in Park or restaurants in junction city close by. If you’re visiting Peoria, Grandview Drive is a short drive or bike ride away and a must-do.
Mary Spengler — Google review
Nice park, well kept, prairie grasses, observatory, ponds, picnic spots, trees for hammocking. Only real "downside" is lack of paved paths, but definitely doesn't take away from the experience of such a nice park in the middle of town

Beautiful green space! Just love how it made me feel like I had gotten away from the city while still in the city! I will be visiting again soon!
Northwoods Mall is a well-established shopping destination that offers a variety of brand-name retailers, fast food options, and entertainment such as bowling and bungee trampolines. Recently updated, the mall has an appealing layout and features stores that are still in business. Despite the decline in popularity of malls in recent years, Northwoods Mall remains a bustling attraction for shoppers seeking familiar retail experiences.
Visiting this mall nearby was spectacular. My favorite part of this mall was the free games by the JPenny and the two pianos. This mall is kept well-clean and great stores!
Makenzie Blaha — Google review
Not to say its great but does have many stores for clothing, a fragrance place, and a arcade. Couple places to get something to eat, but not many options. Its definitely not like it use to be. Its going down hill and I think it will be a struggle economically to get a variety in there again.
Joy Zarr-Hulett — Google review
Mall actually had very few empty store fronts, which was very nice to see. Didn't realize mall closed at 7 but would have enjoyed getting to visit more shops but what I saw I liked. I wish there was more food choices in mall. Only saw a chinese place, pizza place and pretzel place. May have been more but didnt see them. I ate at the Chinese place as they were closing. The food was ok.

It's crazy to me there are only 2 bathrooms in this whole mall, only one of which has a baby changing station. And the fact there is only 1 elevator in the entire mall blows my mind. It's sad if you have a stroller or wagon or wheelchair and you need to access the upper or lower floor at the north end you have to walk completely to the south end. I'm not sure I'll be back.
Sarah James — Google review
I hadn't been in Northwoods since it was updated. They did a great job at making it look fresh and new. Two stores stood out for me; The Zone II and fye For Your Entertainment. Otherwise, they had the regular selection of usual but good mall stores.

I used to love going to the mall as a kid. Now, most of the stores are closing so we never get out to the mall anymore. I think we visit here once or twice a year it seems like. We go mostly for Auntie Anne's and Gloria Jean's.

This is a good local mall with a mix of local and national retailers. One of the anchor stores, formerly Sears, is currently closed, and Orange Julius is missed. The mall does have some empty storefronts but also maintains measurable foot traffic.

I always love going here to shop and just browse. There's alot of stores and they each have a variety of interesting, fun, and nice things.

Honestly it’s so nice to still have a mall around and walking around and window shop! There aren’t as many shops as there used to be but still so fun.

This is the cleanest, most beautifully laid out mall I think I have been to in a long time! It was so nice to see a mall that there stores where not closed or closing for good and halfway empty! Lots of verity in stores also.
Jami Housman — Google review
All of these stores are meant for men and shoes but women only have a select few stores to choose from. Highly do not recommend and women only get low quality stores that they get to choose from. The shoe and outfit game is not the best. The Northwoods mall is not the place to shop at.
Jacee Dudley — Google review
I have a lot of memories here, whether it be eating a hot Auntie Anne's pretzel, or jumping on the bungee trampoline Spending hours playing at Round One, or making a bear at Build-A-Bear. It is sad to see Round One go, but it will still always be my favorite mall.

Stopped in a couple stores today. Staff in most all stores are friendly and informative on what they’re selling. Not very busy. Terrible food choices but it’s a mall in 2023 so you can’t expect much. It’s Clean && they have clean restrooms

I've been going to this mall since the 80s. I liked it better in the 80s and 90s but it's still a good experience.

I visited the mall for the first time in about 10 years and came to see QuadCon Comics and Toys. It was better than I thought. Lots of vendors in the empty parts of the mall. Lots of people wandering about. Kinda like the old days.

We were shopping for clothes for my kids' dad's visitation, and a nice distraction, the mall security played a game of bags with my son and his girlfriend.

An awful lot of people complain that this mall isn't what it used to be. Well what mall is? This place still has a good selection of mall staples like Zumiez, Spencer, Hot Topic, etc.
This mall is doing just fine considering the climate of shopping malls in America. There's people of all ages in there, of all backgrounds. It's really lovely to see.
It'd be nice to see another anchor or two, but again, manage your expectations for a mall in [current year.]
Biggest complaint is the lack of bathrooms. If you find yourself needing to have yourself an emergency tinkle, you better start running towards the food court or JC Penney. Because depending where you're at in the mall, it might take a bit before you get to one of their only 2 bathroom locations, and hope there's not a line.
The mall is pretty accessible. Especially if you're coming east into town from 74.
And the Chinese food place? Do yourself a favor and get some of their bourbon chicken. If the food court isn't your thing, there's a variety of restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

It's a great but it would be even better if it and a second floor with a arcades and bowling and more stores and food

Sad sad sad place. Was there on a Sunday and place was empty for as big as it is. Soon it will be another Galesburg.
Penneys is a joke with one person each at a total of 2 check outs. No wonder the place is going belly up. Pretty soon there will be no place to shop at brick and mortar. One thing about Peoria... We have car washes and lube and oil joints. 😚
Even decent restaurants are closing up shop and running out of town.

Went to the flea market there ,next one 7/9/23 at start 7am -3pm otherwise the second Sunday of each summer months. I liked it better than at expo Gardens. I do have a question, expo gardens at least has a schedule for ALL the events that they have, peoria speedway doesn't, why is that? Events are when you hold any type of event like a flea market etc etc

The Shoppes at Grand Prairie is a contemporary open-air shopping center that houses a variety of well-known and unique shops, as well as both casual and high-end dining options. The mall boasts ample parking space in a prime location, attracting numerous shoppers. The stores offer an array of exquisite merchandise, making it an ideal destination for those looking to indulge in some retail therapy.
I'm so glad that they finally came here. The store is in a great location with plenty of parking. Plenty of beautiful merchandise.

Love to see such market places close to my house. Unfortunately, I have to drive from Macomb to Peoria to get this Facilities. I wonder around 6 PM and I found almost empty on Saturday which makes me sad. I need to see them doing some business over there so that they will sustain and will have a good business in peoria.

Great shops here including Marshall's and Hoke Goods as well as clothing stores like Okd Navy and a big shoe store with limited sizes. There are some places to eat as well, the best being Childers but they are only open a few hours a day. Plenty of parking. The exterior and stores are clean.

Love bringing my son to the play area. The idea that he can run around freely and feel safe that I can watch and breath at the same time without worrying about him running off. Friendly atmosphere with all the stores. Each visit we have a different experience. Met up with friends here and our kids played. It was great. There are two tables inside for you to sit at.
One visit, a family brought in a group of kids. All ranging in age. 3 older boys youth age, tried to push my son backwards down the slide. Clearly bully's but I asked them to move along because children under 10 were present. Their mothers weren't paying attention, but I was there. Anyway, so that wasn't too cool. Might need a sign in there for older kids to keep off children's slides. Overall, always a good time, it's my sons favorite indoor spot.
Love that the play room, mothers nursing area, and facility are well maintained. Thanks so much for having this here for us!

So after reading the negative reviews from opening a few weeks ago I can say that on Saturday February 19th at noon we had a group of 6. The host and waitress got our drinks and gave us menus. She returned and hmgave us the rundown on how to order now that it is Genghis Grill and no longer flat top. The process is similar and easy to follow. I like the cards just before the vegetable and soft station that give you some recipe ideas You can take them with you through the line. The food was cooked nicely..Honestly If you have a bad meal here besides the way the food was cooked it's really on the person picking out the ingredients and sauces and seasoning. They were about 70% full when we came in and I feel like we were taking care of appropriately. 6 people 20% tip and 6 out of 6 of of had water...$100. Maybe a little on the high side per person but everyone enjoyed their meal

This is an outdoor venue with a few anchor stores and smaller shops. You have to walk outdoors to get to each shop and there is nothing connecting these place together except and outside sidewalk that is uncovered. You may get really wet and blasted with heat when shopping of your planning on store hopping. There are some vacant places in this area as places come and go it seems like. I gave it 3 stars as store don't seem to stay very long and it's all outdoors with zero for canopies.

This place needs more attention from the greater Peoria region. It sits pleasntly in the north part of Peoria with a little something for everyone. Enjoy a day of shopping without a huge crowd to filter through. Even when there is a lot of people the walk ways are built wide enough for you to still have your space while you browse. My kids personally LOVE the kid friendly play areas through out the plaza. They treat our time out as a while day for them to play and it gives me a moment to check things out. This lovely shopping district also has something no other plaza has here in Peoria, a love for the arts. You can see just by walking through the love and support shown to Peoria's local artist. From the murals to the sculptures to the filled displays of art throught the whole place there is always something to see. I don't always go to buy something. Sometimes it is a great walk and time to see the new works put up. A place with good vibes, good food, and of course great shopping.

It's ok. I was surprised at the amount of vacant locations in this mall. You should check prior to going to actually see what stores are open and if your even interested in these stores. With the amount of time spent there my wife found one store Eddie Bauer which interested her. Not a good day shopping for either of us.
