West Virginia State Museum is a recently renovated institution that showcases the history and culture of West Virginia through art and exhibitions. It provides an engaging and well-thought-out experience for visitors, especially students who can take advantage of the Student's Discovery Guide to enhance their learning. The Museum Education Specialist, Nathan, is excellent in his role and demonstrates his passion for sharing knowledge with others. Additionally, all employees are friendly and helpful.
I had the blessing of accompanying my sons on a field trip here. Such a great museum--very engaging and well thought out. Be sure to get a Student's Discovery Guide to complete as you go through the exhibits. The Museum Education Specialist, Nathan, was excellent! You can tell he loves his job and wants to share that love with others. All the other employees were friendly and helpful. Definitely want to return with the rest of my family.

MUST SEE!!! 10/10!!! By far my favorite part of the downtown West Virginia capital area! Open to the public as an amazing completely free museum. Even my teenage daughter put her phone down to read and explore the museum! Plan to spend at least 2 hours to just do the basic walk around. But could easily spend a whole day here!

This is an absolute must-see in the capitol
This is located in Charleston, West Virginia. It is in the lower level of the Museum building across the sidewalk from the State capitol on the West Virginia State Capitol Complex. Parking for this can be found either on a nearby street or in the metered parking to the northeast that is part of the complex. The museum is a marble building with a large open entryway/atrium that is beautiful. There are escalators to either side of the information desk in the center. The left-hand one will take you downstairs. The museum takes up most of the bottom floor. You can walk through the wonderfully descriptive parts of the museum that takes you through the various parts of the state history. It starts with the prehistoric era to describe how the area came to be and the other portions describe various historical eras and then focus on the most recent centuries. I really liked the coal mine recreation. As you leave, the other escalator takes you back up to the main floor. Please be sure to check out the gift shop on the way out. This site is a must-see for anyone in the area.

Sadly, the museum was closed. It was not posted anywhere on line. But they are closed Sundays and Mondays. I was redirected to the State Capitol building, which is beautiful and quite different from other State Capitol buildings. Outside the Capitol is a well designed and interesting Veterans Memorial. Everywhere you turn in West Virginia you see Mountains.

This is a beautiful museum with a thoughtful presentation of a wide range of artifacts. One needs about two hours to fully relish the selections.
A shop within the building offers a decent assortment of souvenirs.

Informative state museum. I stopped on a recent road trip, wanting to learn more about the state. I wasn't disappointed. I would definitely recommend spending an entire day if you want to go thru the museum and read/visit all the exhibits, as well as checking out the capitol next door. I only dedicated a few hours and had other plans later in the day, so I felt rushed.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could!! Stopped to visit the capital building first and it was impressive as well. But I really enjoyed the setup of the state museum. They start you back from way in the very beginning of time and work you all the way to the present day. The detail and thought that went i to this is impressive. Unfortunately my time was limited as I had a full day planned. This place is easily 4 hours or more to really take time to read the stuff. Trust me, come here, you'll be impressed. And it's FREE!!

While some of the history paints a rosier picture than natives or slaves would, the museum is thorough and extensive. We thought giving ourselves 2 hours was enough time, but we were wrong! Tons of interesting people, artifacts, and history in captivating displays. I learned a ton and would definitely go back to see what I missed when we had to rush out because it was closing time. (Also had an amazing quilt display at the entrance - wow!)

This was a great museum. We have been traveling around to visit all of the state museums and this was one of my favorites.
The displays are really interesting and well done. There is an elevator and large open rooms for those that need accessible areas. I was easily able to navigate it with my electric scooter.
On the first floor there is a one room family/handicap bathroom which was super easy to get in and out of. I wish they had one on each floor. The remaining floor had standard bathrooms with stalls.
There is also a cafe with prepackaged sandwiches and snacks. They also have coffee and coffee drinks. I enjoyed my ham sandwich and these unique potato chips with Indian spices.
Parking was straightforward and easily accessible. I would certainly revisit again.

Was very impressed. We spent quite a lot of time here and still did not get to see everything. The layout adds to the experience. Definitely worth checking out. If you enjoy museums at all plan on at least a half a day. However since it is free you can still stop in if you only have an hour.

Exquisite museum with so much history of our wonderful state! A must visit for all ages! Gift shop as well! all WV items! They will be decorating for Christmas very soon! Thanksgiving weekend!

The highlight of our visit to the Capitol. So much well curated and laid out exhibits, made for a complete and immersive experience - from coal mining, to labor, to music, and much more.
The gift shop is well stocked with quality and many locally sourced items. The museum’s annual quilt show before Labor Day is one of many highlights during the year.
Arguably the most informative stop of the Capitol city. Well worth it.

I've been through my share of museums and then some, and this is one of the most enjoyable museums I've been in! It's a nice all around experience from the floor to the ceiling and the all around sound were great! We got there late, but I really want to go back and see everything again!

This is certainly the best museum I have ever been to. The exhibits told a chronological story as you walked through. It was so nicely done. Worth traveling to see.
The Clay Center is an impressive museum that provides a range of interactive exhibits, science-related films on a large screen, and diverse performances. The venue offers fantastic customer service from its staff and maintains a clean property. Children and adults alike can enjoy the planetarium's great shows, while acoustic concerts provide an unbelievable sound experience for attendees at the back of the room. Overall, this museum promises entertainment and educational experiences to visitors across various age groups.
What an awesome venue! My wife and I went to an acoustic concert and the sound was unbelievable, you could here them from the back just talking. I can't wait to go back for another performance!!

The water stations were mostly down and not nearly as big as they make it seem. Definitely room for improvement there. The downtown scene was so much fun for our two year old. He loved “grocery shopping” and being the “mechanic”. There’s a small craft area on floor 3 that was cute. No cafeteria yet making it inconvenient.

I have only worked here once for the Jesus Christ Superstar show; but overall I had a good time. It's floor layout is simple so it's hard to get lost, they obviously host fun and memorable events, and the ambiance is very light and gives happy go lucky vibes.
P.S.- I apologize for my 2 not so good pictures, generally I try to take 1 at the start of setting up and another when we finish, but this show was very fast paced so I didn't get a lot of chances to capture the "Theater Magic"

All I can say is that this place is absolutely amazing! The kids loved every single minute we were there! They didn’t want to even sit still to eat lunch! Lol! We packed a lunch and ate in the cafeteria area. We saw a movie in the theater. Sit in the back if you go. My neck was sore & I sat in the front. Lol! I kept looking up & around. The back row seats are the best view. Take your kids & enjoy all day!

My son is on the spectrum and it's been a struggle to find a place that he was comfortable and felt safe enough to fully immerse himself into playing full throttle without holding back or getting deterred from letting lose. This place was beyond what I expected and the staff was so understanding and patient with us. It made the whole experience an answered prayer!!. I'm thankful for this memory with my son, tears of happinesses were most definitely shed. WE WILL BE BACK SOON AS WE CAN!!

Might be good for children but they don’t make it clear that it is good for anyone else. The last show at the planetarium had already started, which they didn’t tell us about until after we bought the ticket. They didn’t refund us once we realized the place was only good for children and the planetarium was closed. Tickets were also expensive at $12 for an adult.

We came today to take part in the Tinker Toy class every Friday. Today's class was on dinosaurs. They read a book, had a counting activity with dinosaur footsteps, and sensory activity finding dinosaurs.
We also met a friend to play, go to the planetarium, and check out the new dinosaur exhibit. All of the areas were pretty well kept up with besides the music section that we love doing. The room with the drums and percussion instruments was closed. We were in love with the fire truck for the longest time. We had fun in the art gallery doing the children's activity that they have to the left. And of course the new dinosaur section was amazing! We had fun climbing the Ashton Climbing Structure towards the end of our visit also.
Not too busy of a place when we arrived. The staff was very hospitable.
Really enjoyed the selection of food, drink and snacks. Prices are very accommodating.

This review is for the Sushi Garden. I think this is one of the best options to eat a quick lunch in the area. The selection is huge and you can compliment your meal here with other additions around the market. It’s better to let it set to reach room temperature in my opinion but it’s good either way. The staff is friendly as well. When paying you have to pay attention when leaving a tip because sometimes you can’t and cancels the transaction if you use a certain type of card. But definitely a better way to get more bang for your buck when other places cost 10 dollars plus for 4 pieces!

Great place. Free parking where we were able to park our 24 foot rv. The indoor area has lots of places to eat from sit down restaurant to meat Market, coffee shop, and more. We ate at Johnnie's Fresh Meats where you can buy meats or order as a deli. We ordered Philly Burger and Italian Sandwich. That plus a drink was $21.87 with tax. All was good except that the burger would be much better with more bell peppers. The large outdoor (covered) area of the market had fruit, veggies, and ice cream vendors.

Impressive market place. The building is clean, easy to find, and well-organized. We visited the Capitol Market on the event day. The event was well organized. There are a lot of people but it is not too crowded. The place is spread out for vendors to set up their products and display stuff comfortably.
Food vendors are both inside and outside the building. That make it very easy for people and vendors to find things to eat. They offer variety kinds of food from Asian to American cuisines, including many local alcohol drinks.

We have been coming to Capitol Market for the past two decades when driving between homes. Pricing is a bit up but if you consider you are in the Capitol and the cost of rent then it makes sense. The outdoor farmers market is where prices normalize, and the quality of the fruits and vegetables are very high. Parking is a bit whack on weekends, but we've always found a spot. On nice days you can sit outside on the porch and watch the goings-on at the farmers market.

We moved to the Charleston area about a month ago. I wasn't familiar with the area and needed to find fresh garden produce, especially tomatoes!! Capital Market has it all!! They have inside booths that have chocolate, spices, wine 🍷 and even yummy places eat, or have an iced tea and cool off. Outside, there's all kinds of produce and plants for house or landscaping! I was delighted with the choices and prices!!The vendors are friendly and helpful. We've been back several times....and we'll be back again!

Such a wonderful attribute to the Charleston area! Many statewide local farmers & floral providers! Cute decorative items for your outdoor needs. Plenty of selections and assorted arrangements available. Seasonal items & just a lovely stroll to walk thru! Local eateries indoors along with WV shopping and restrooms! Perfectly close to the interstate-downtown and uptown shopping! Elevated Bridge Road Shoppes and shopping minutes away as well! All funds spent here go toward the longevity of the market itself! Wonderful place for picture opportunities & locally made products! Make sure to check out the WV Market on both sides of venue!

Visited while on vacation heading to New River Gorge area. Picked up some nice cheeses 🧀 to sample in our cabin at Babcock SP.
Great market with everything from spices, meats, wines, seafood, and cheese.
Outside were mums, pumpkins 🎃 and all sorts of fresh vegetables and fruits, lots of apples 🍎 😋.
Easy parking, and it appears a school was visiting as we left, kids were excited about the pumpkins 🎃 I think 🤔 😀

There is something for everyone. The entire experiance is immersive. The displays & exhibits are up close & personal. Protected artificats are easily examined. You can get up close without harming them. The museum touches on every aspect of West Virginia. From history to culture to geography. If you didn't know anything about West Virginia before your visit you will by the end of your visit, for sure. You will learn things you didn't know that you didn't know. Kanawha State Forest is a large natural area that offers various recreational activities such as hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and camping facilities. Visitors can enjoy exploring the beautiful walking or bicycle paths, play in the creek and on playgrounds. The creek features big boulders to sit on but caution should be taken for it's still really frigid water. The park's trails are well-maintained throughout all seasons like winter when one could take a beautiful rainy hike.
We love to play in the creek and playgrounds. Nice walking/hiking or bicycle trails to explore. I love the way they have fixed the creek up with big boulders that we can sit on and we love getting our feet wet although the water is still really frigid. We are thinking about camping at the site they have here too sometime this summer. 😁

I loved my quick stop at the KSF. I enjoyed a quick walk through the CCC Snipe trail and parts of two other trails. It was quiet, the scenery was almost heaven, and the trails were clean.
Be sure to drive carefully on the forest road, as it twists and turns. Be prepared for oncoming drivers and pull over if your vehicle is larger.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, it had been a rough day with lots of rain, trees down, and then the power out because of trees toppling onto power lines. So the grounds were soaked, wet wood was $5.50 a bundle and the bathrooms were yuk. With no lights, I didn't go in the shower which was already in darkness from the overhang of trees. I'm betting it's gorgeous on sunny days though!

We stayed in the campground in site 28. Site 28 is level, partial to full sun, fire ring, and picnic table. A wonderful little bubbling stream runs behind the site. The site is located behind another spot and next to the office. When new guests arrive they always wanted to check-in with us. The bathrooms are less than 50 yards away.
Travelers with trailers please be aware that this campground in not made for large travel vehicles. The website clearly states RVs or trailer/truck units longer than 26 feet are not recommended. Most of the spots are very tiny and can only accommodate a small pop-up or tent. Travelers please take this seriously. The roads getting into the park are residential and are very narrow.
The bathrooms are clean and are currently being remodeled by a wonderful volunteer staff. The showers are roomy with benches and the hot water pressure is fabulous. We drove around the campground and found other non shower bathroom.
Overall, the campground is small, tucked away in the Kanawha State Forest and great for tenting, with many primitive sites.

Charleston, WV... Y'all have a spectacular venue here. I've seen hundreds of shows across the county and can confidently say, this was one of the most inviting and comfortable arenas I've been to. I had the opportunity to detour here so I could catch TOOL during a business trip to Cincinnati. I'm so glad I did! There are a couple hotel options within 1 block of the arena, as well as many restaurants and bars within walking distance of here too, making this location extremely convenient.
The area itself is a little on the smaller side, making the arena concert experience a very intimate one. The acoustics were fantastic and there's really no bad view in the place. What really sets this venue apart from other arenas, are the large open spaces in the vast concourses throughout the place. They are comfortable, clean and spread out! They have places to sit, relax and enjoy a beverage or chat with friends, while waiting for the show to start. There are plenty of food and beverage options spread out, with no lines being excessive. There are also plenty of restroom options if you search for them, so you can avoid those lines. Thank you for a wonderful concert experience. I had never considered visiting Charleston before this entered my realm but now, I hope to be back again to enjoy another show!

This is the second concert I've been to here. They had a bit of trouble scanning tickets and the VIP experience could have been better. Standing outside with no shade and no water in the summer heat for hours does not make you feel like a VIP.
The concerts themselves were both great and the venue is clean and generally well organized. The ticketing issue for everyone was a problem with Ticket Master, not the venue.
It doesn't let you give partial stars but if it did I'd have rated the Coliseum 4.3 for this concert and a 4.8 for the first one.

I work here as a stagehand setting up for concerts & such as well as 3 other venues in the Tri State; honestly The Coliseum is growing on me the more I work there. The newly renovated & redesigned CC&C is phenomenal! Just the little bit that I've actually seen is absolutely beautiful & a huge plus for Charleston. However, I think they could have built in a little more seating into the main first floor lobby area, not just the seating right outside the restrooms or clear upstairs on the 2nd floor. Seems like a small thing unless, of course, you have a physical issue or are slightly up in years.

Zack Bryan concert was one of the BEST concerts ever seen here! Center stage with the band moving around it, provided a great seat anywhere in the coliseum. This was apparently the 2nd highest attendance of any concert ever held there. The only drawback was there were not enough drink vendors to handle the crowd. However, the concert was amazing and one you did not want to leave your seat, not even for a drink. You also want to pay attention when you leave so you know where you parked! The entrance is different from the exit and very easy to get turned around when leaving and there are minimal signs directing you to your parking lot. No Golf carts available to rent to be shuttled either.

I so badly want to make it 5 stars! Let’s start with venue. It’s beautiful. The staff super friendly and it’s easy to navigate. Parking was great not a far walk either. Getting out was a little trickier but not bad. The downside. The sound. It was terrible. I was so disappointed. Hadn’t been to a concert here in years and I honestly expected better. When the artists spoke we couldn’t understand a word of what was said. Couldn’t hear any of the “hype” music at all between sets. West Virginia deserves better. We came to hear a concert. I will be back to try it again. I just hope these sound issues can be improved.
Michelle H — Google review
Very hospitable; however, I would be curious to know when the last time the place was cleaned. Our shoes literally stuck to the floor the moment we got to our seats. Actually pretty disgusting. Not to mention the mounds of trash under the seats from previous events. Do better. If you cleaned at least after every other shoe, that would be better than whatever schedule you are on now.
What are all the ticket fees going to? It sure isn’t to a cleaning crew.

The Spring Hill Cemetery is the largest and most historical in Kanawha County. It's more than a cemetery however, which reflects it's new name "Spring Hill Memorial Park". Most of Charlestons founders are buried there, along with pioneers from across the county.

Usually very nicely maintained. The visit in late August 2016 found that much of the cemetery had not been mowed. My grandma especially enjoyed all the care taken in the house with details like the food made from clay & the tea sets arranged beautifully. We also got to see the Hatfields & McCoys exhibit & I thought it was very well done with photos & great timelines & explanations. Very happy with our stop!

The tour was very nice and informative. The guide did a great job and let us see all of the available areas including the cabin, all at our own pace. It helped that we were there only ones on the tour too, we had his undivided attention. I'm glad we took the time to check it out.

Excellent. So glad went. The guide was really good. Thanks. So many interesting things
My 12 yr old was very interested. Taking pics for class at school. Donations accepted. Free parking. Not for babies n toddlers. This isn't really well for handicapped if you want to ser all the floors . Front steps . Rear steps. Office out beside house.

Nathan was great and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour
Avampato Discovery Museum is a family-oriented facility that offers a diverse range of exhibits related to fine arts and sciences. Visitors are encouraged to interact with hands-on activities, making it an engaging experience for all ages. The theater boasts an elegant design and excellent visibility from any seat. The staff is friendly and accommodating, ensuring that guests have a pleasant visit. Restrooms are maintained well, adding to the overall positive impression of the museum.
My son had a blast. Will definitely go again.

Multi-level children's museum/science center/art center.
We've been to a lot of children's museums across country, and I was very impressed with the price of this one for what you got. Sometimes museums can be $30+ dollars for kids, this one only $9 for adults and $7.50 for kids which was very reasonable. Many different interactive activities from music to water to human body to industry.
We took our two school-age children and spent over 2 hours at the museum, probably could have spent longer but ran out of time due to closing (5 p.m.). Definitely would say this place is from age toddlers all the way to older children. So many interactive learning opportunities for kids. We did see a group of what looked like high school students participating in many of the activities which was really fun! They were being very respectful and not on their devices.
Public parking was across the street with a kiosk to pay. The museum is three levels with stairs and elevators. On the bottom floor there was an area for food and a few vending machines. Each floor had restrooms and a few stations for hand sanitizing. There was an outdoor area as well with a few games, beautiful sculptures, and picnic tables. My son's favorite area was the human body area with the interactive dance and basketball or the music rooms. My daughter's favorite area was the My Town downstairs, which was like an interactive child run town for free play. Very cool!
Overall decided to stop on a whim and glad we did. Would recommend people who are traveling with kids in the area.

My three young boys have grown up going here a few times per year. They have some excellent and very educational exhibits and the content is changed periodically to keep it fresh. I love this place. It's housed within The Clay Center along with an Imax theater and a three level auditorium that hosts the symphony and concerts.

We absolutely love it here! We take the kids regularly and are members. So many fun things to do and special events.

Our kids had a great time. This was the best interactive place we've gone to. It was even better than the Boston Children's Museum.

The theater design gives you a pretty good view from even the back seats. Elegant, attractive design without being overly fancy. The staff is nice and helpful. The seats are fairly comfortable, but you might feel the need to stretch your legs after an hour/hour and a half. The keep the restrooms pretty clean also. Great place. My crappy little photo is from the Video Games Live show.

It's fun, but not enough activities to justify the $40 for two adults and two children.
Also, there are many unattended children running around here. My son wanted to play with the water thing, but one of these unattended children threw something into it and broke it.

A must see when visiting Charleston. Lots to do and see at the Clay Center. The night Google asked me to review I was there seeing the symphony. Usually I'm in the Avampato Discovery Museum or the Imax theater with my boys.

It was something new for our boys to do. They enjoyed it but it was small I expected it to be bigger. I do like that it is educational they can learn about music and how water can turn into power when used in certain ways.

had to chase a kid up that nightmarish climby thing - seems pretty dangerous. other than that a nice place for kiddos and people who like that kind of thing
Nice little airport. Was easy to get to and from. Security was quick since we were the only flight going out. Had a little spot to grab drinks and hot sandwiches.

West Virginia International Yeager Airport isn't just a gateway to an Appalachian paradise, it's quite the experience in itself. Small enough to feel personal, yet with efficient service and modern amenities, Yeager gets you where you're going without the airport megacity hassle.
Friendly staff greet you like a neighbor, guiding you through the process with a smile. Security lines are a breeze - I forgot something and had time to return to my vehicle and go back through the line, well before my flight! The terminal itself is clean and bright, with local art and cozy seating inviting you to relax and soak in the mountain vibes.
Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-timer, Yeager leaves you feeling like you've landed in a friendly, efficient, and historically-charged corner of the world. It's not just an airport, it's a warm welcome to West Virginia.

If you ever have to fly out of here do it!! Save the drive to Pittsburgh or Columbus for another day. This place can get you to any major airport in no time. The service is awesome, the security is easy and fast, and it’s easy to navigate through. the alcohol is a little pricey but hey it’s an airport. Lol some folks claim it’s rough landings on some days but you have to consider the airfield used to be a mountain. Definitely not like any other airport but the accommodations and friendly staff make it worth it.

This is a great little airport in the middle of West Virginia back country. Some of the most beautiful land in North America. The amenities are small but the views are huge. Glad I had a chance to fly out of here!

Nice airport to fly in and out of. Easy to get around in because of it's smaller size. Definitely would rather fly out of here than any of the larger airports.

TSA did an amazing job taking care of everyone in the terminal during a tornado today. They stayed calm and moved everyone into the basement. What a great team effort!! 5 STARS all the way!
Amanda Burgess — Google review
This is more of a review of the Agents and TSA than the airport itself. The other day I went in and my flight was delayed to where I missed my connecting flight. Not normally a big deal, but the American Airlines agent I spoke with said I'd have to wait until Sunday to leave (maybe, she didn't seem confident in that.) That was unacceptable obviously, as I was there for business and no company was going to want to pay me 48 hours of Overtime. I tried explaining this but the lady I spoke to was extremely rude and unfortunately was not understanding whatsoever. I wasn't the only one treated this way, of course. I had to go through TSA twice, the first time was no issue, but the second time they decided my work tools were now a problem, and threw them away. I decided, after waiting a while, that I'd rather just drive home than spend another minute waiting in that airport. I had to wait an hour and a half to get my bag back. I booked a one-way Budget rental, and drove myself and another passenger with a missed flight back home. Avis/Budget was the best part about the airport as they seemed to actually care about my problem and offer a proper solution, rather than telling me I was SOL and they would not reimburse me. I got home, and refuse to give American and this airport my business ever again.

I always fly in and out of Yeager. All of the folks who work at the airport from the ticket counter to TSA to the gates are so kind and helpful. I have never been to another airport where I can arrive an hour before flying out, check-in with checked luggage, make it through TSA, and still have time to grab a drink and sit before boarding. I'm not driving to Columbus or Cincinnati to fly somewhere. I'm firmly committed to flying straight outta Charleston because their connectors in DC, Charlotte, Chicago, and Atlanta can get you anywhere you need to go.

We truly loved this Airport, not many lines when departure, easy access, and car rental. A tricky thing to say, but even TSA is friendly here—two conveniently located cafeterias, bars, and gift shops inside the security area.

Great little airport. Security was simple and I was through in about 30 seconds. The staff have been friendly and the process is painless. The military planes are the biggest planes here. 😃

Some of the nicest employees at an airport i've ever experienced. This includes the rent a car people. The lady who checked me in at ticketing also boarded me onto the plane.

Very well organized, highly secure and fair priced airport. All of the staff are friendly and happily available for any of your needs. Gift shops have a lot of selection and their is a wide variety of food/beverages/alcohol. Highly recommended!

Small airport named after one of Americas greatest heroes, Chuck Yeager. People here are very friendly and service was quick. Bags were expeditiously unloaded. Facilities and bathrooms were clean. Few options for dining, but enough to keep you from starving. Bonus: they have 10 Tesla chargers on level two of the parking garage!

I fly into this airport about 5 times a year! This past weekend was the worst experience I have EVER had anywhere! Friday night I had to pick my husband up for our daughters wedding! His planes landed at 5pm and we had to wait over an hour for his luggage! The kicker was Sunday morning! The app for American Airlines was not working and I could not check in, we arrived about 40 mins before our flight because of our rental car and other problems! We tried to check in and we were told NO. Not only were we told no, but they made me dump my bel! I had stuff from our daughters wedding in there! I was being watched by the rude airport cop! He was not pleasant at all! The best part is they were helping a family of three who were on our flight checking in! So why did they help them and not us! Then they gave away out first class seats! Oh and the plane was delayed’ I lost items I will NEVER get back! It was okay for us to wait on you for our bags but my small checked bag was not good enough to check in?? The young lady that works for American Airlines with the long dreads that would not give me her name and your cop both need to be jobless! I have never been more humiliated and devastated in my entire life! I will never be back to that airport! I have filed a complaint and will continue until someone makes this right! Point is she was lazy and would not help us! Most people go above and beyond and she went under and did the bare minimum. I felt they were prejudiced! They helped others but not us! She walked the others bags out in front of us and then looked at me and smirked!

Small town airport with limited to major hubs (only 4). Parking is as expensive as big airports. Only regional airlines operates here and it’s always delayed or cancelled. Luggages are slow to get to the claims (literally sitting here at midnight waiting for luggage, flight landed an hour ago). The only thing I love about this airport is how quick to get through TSA, which means we don’t have to get to the airport so early.
The owner is so friendly and passionate about his craft. The Southern Blend whiskey is smoother than most 12 year old whiskeys I've had. Definitely worth stopping in for a taste.

We walked in 20 mins before close expecting to be told we were too late. The owner greeted us, answered all my questions, allowed us to sample straight rim the still. What a great experience. All the liquor is top notch.

I visited this town over the weekend for work. Stayed at the Embassy. Seemed to be right downtown. Nice mall right next door. Small town feeling made me feel safe. Next to no traffic after dark. 10/10. Will definitely return

We went there on Memorial Day Afternoon 2023 with the intention of getting ice cream from Ellen's. Unfortunately, Ellen's was closed. :-(
This older downtown area is being revitalized by small businesses - restaurants, bars, specialty shops, etc. It's worth a "look"... you can see the history of what once was a thriving downtown (a giant post office and a Woolworth Building, for example) and what is developing there now...

Good draft beer selection, wide selection of canned and bottled beers from local, regional, stateside, and beyond. The prices were very reasonable. Nice pizza was good and had a nice crisp crust - I really liked it. Nice ambiance, good quick service and again reasonably priced. So it should get a 4 star - right - but we also ordered salsa and chips, the chips in were fresh nice multi-colored corn chips....the salsa was chunky tomato sauce - seriously the stuff has never had pepper in its vicinity. Get the pizza and beer, don't order the chips and salsa.

A mostly clean small city downtown area: Some good restaurants and shops - e.g. Pies and Pints and Taylor Books respectively. A newly modernized public library. Two breweries and a brewery taproom. Decent parking options. Some public spaces. A bank or two.
And lots (and lots) of lawyers offices. Like, dozens. Hundreds, maybe. Too God-damned many lawyers. And I can say that, as I am one of those too God-damned many lawyers myself. We are a plague upon our fair city. Get rid of about 70% of us and replace us with actual productive businesses and you'd usher in a Golden Age for the capitol city of the Mountain State.

Charleston looked like such a romantic city from internet pictures I had seen. Downtown felt sketchy and not very welcoming. I took pictures around the state capital building and found it disappointing that the only parking was metered, so be prepared to pay if you're wanting to walk around.

Great to just stroll around town and visit all the nifty boutiques & eateries! Don’t forget there is uptown as well snuggled on Bridge Road Bistro trail as well! Worth the pause from traveling and super close to all 3 main interstate access! Airport is an Uber away! Enjoy Charleston as we take you on an adventure!

It is very nice looking. The city needs more live interactive attractions during the winter, like a seasonal hot chocolate and specialty drinks.
There should be Christmas carols playing outside on a huge part of the city; downtown to the capitol on side streets as well. Decorate more in more parts of the city. They need to add more downtown all the way to the Capital.
There should be more decoration on the various capitol buildings. It should be a light attraction with a light show.

I have lived in WV for over 6 years now and don't go downtown Charleston very often, but there were some great little stores and restaurants. There was a nice little park with swings, and the library was close by. I think I will come down again and try some of the places out.
The Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve is a protected area covering 52 acres and contains hiking trails that pass through a forest. This forest serves as the natural habitat for various bird species, making it an ideal location for birdwatching enthusiasts. The park provides visitors with an opportunity to experience nature's beauty while also promoting wildlife conservation efforts.
We stopped in today and saw the new layout after the renovations, and the store looks great. It seems much larger inside now and seems more inviting. Plenty of different kinds of art to look at, from photography to glassworks and ceramics. Very nice place. I also needed a mat for framing that I couldn't find anywhere else, and they were able to order it for me. Great place and I hope they're around for a long time.
