Nauset Beach is a 10-mile long sandy beach that offers a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, surfing, off-road vehicle trails and picnic areas. The beach is well-known for its bass and bluefish that frequent the waters. It has restrooms/changing rooms for visitors, plenty of lifeguards during the season with spotters in the air to ensure safety. The beautiful beach also boasts seals swimming by and has a couple of food trucks providing refreshments.
Really pretty and clean beach. Perfect for relaxing in the sand. Pretty views even on a cloudy morning when watching the sunrise. This beach is a higher risk for sharks, but if you really want to get in you could stay in the shallow end. The water is a little cold, but there are big waves which are fun. One of my favorite beaches, and I will definitely be coming back!

Gorgeous beach with tons of parking and changing areas.
TONS of beautiful rocks to collect!!!
You might want to wear water shoes if you have sensitive feet because the rocks are abundant at the edge of the water.
Keep an eye out for plenty of seals in the water! They don't stay visible for long, so it can be challenging to catch a picture of them.
Off season, there's no fee to park and you'll have far less people on the beach.

Our experience was not good because of the horseflies! From the moment we set up we were under attack. We planned to stay for 5 hours or so but lasted only three, killed 15 horseflies and have about twenty bites that are itching a lot on the next day. I had mosquito spray, but it didn’t do anything to deter the flies. Come prepared with good deterrent so you can enjoy the day!
One other negative, as you go in the ocean, there are some rocks. It’s not all smooth and sandy in the water. I was running to dive in the water and hurt my foot on some rocks that were in the ocean. Also, the water was extremely cold and we went in late July so we thought it might be a bit warmer!
On the plus side, we saw a few seals, which was fun! The parking was $30, nice and organized and you can pay with a card, which is nice, because we forgot cash!
A decent beach, but I will continue exploring other beaches on the cape, probably won’t come back to this one.

Beautiful beach. Restrooms/changing rooms, plenty of lifeguards during season, with spotters in the air. Seals swim by. Also they have a couple food trucks.

Good beach.. parking near 25-35$ required, not a good bathhouse (was closed) and some shower is there to remove sands.. a lot of seals to watch.. watch out YouTube /BHARTIFAMILY vlogs to know more about this place..

Probably one of the nicest beaches on the cape. Beautiful soft sand. Waves for the kids to play in. Lots of pretty rocks to collect but also have to be careful if the tide is rough they can smash into your ankles. There are usually 2or 3 food trucks. Also be prepared to possibly have to get out of the water due to shark sightings. Great beach to walk at sunrise!
Crystal Z — Google review
I love how big this beach is! It's a little expensive to park at, because it's part of the national beach, but it is so beautiful. Of course the water is chilly but the waves aren't too big, there are lots of shells, and lots possibilities for the whole family, but I wouldn't recommend swimming for children, the water gets deep quick. The only downside is that seals get pretty close to shore and you shouldn't swim by seal water in case of a great white shark, which there seems to be a sighting at this beach at least twice a week up to every other day, during the summer months.
Stay away from the seals and you will be fine. It's just hard to keep the seals away from you.

Our first time at this beach and we had a great time! Saw several seals and all the rocks were cool to look at!

Beautiful beach this. There are ample beaches on the Cape to visit and you can’t go wrong with any of them. We decided to hit Nauset beach this time as we’ve been to Provincetown and other popular spots earlier. There’s a $20 all day parking right in front of the beach entrance. We spotted seals but couldn’t spot sharks. 😔. The beach was packed on a weekend (thanks captain obvious) but you could still find a fairly isolated spot to relax for a while. Just be cautious when you enter the water, there are quite a lot of small rocks and pebbles that can hurt you when they come in with the waves.

Beautiful beach with plenty of changing space and showers to rinse off. The sand and water were perfect ..though it was my first time swimming in waters where sharks frequent so I didn't stay in long 😅

This place is beautiful. In my travels I have seen many beautiful beaches and Nauset Beach is in my top 5 in the east coast. We even had seals swimming around. My 1st time at Cape Cod but not the last.
Skaket Beach, located in Orleans, Massachusetts, boasts a large stretch of fine sandy shorelines complete with tidal pools ideal for exploring and kite flying. The beach also features a snack kiosk, restrooms, showers and lifeguards ensuring safety while swimming in the warm waters seamlessly fitting for swimmers. During low tide visitors can enjoy long strolls on the soft sand as it extends far into Cape Cod Bay where little ones can observe remarkable creatures visible in tide pools revealed as waves recede.
We came because we herd this beach was good for looking for sea glass. While we didn’t find any sea glass we did find wonderful views. This was the first time my boyfriend was able to watch the sun set on the ocean. It’s definitely an experience everyone should have at least once in their life.

Fabulous beach for all ages especially during low tide (have 3ish hours) to walk way out into the Bay with 8-10 tide pools to walk through. Tide comes in relatively quickly so keep an eye on your kids about that point. Parking is up to $30/day unless you have a beach sticker for your vehicle. Parking is okay but I'd suggest you get there before 11am or you may have to wait, one out-pne in.

Perfect spot for sunset. Free parking when we went at 6pm. Nice slight incline to lay on in the soft sand or can go past shallow pools of water on harder sand right in front of the sound/ocean. No waves and people were standing shin deep talking in the water.
Tori Hawkins — Google review
During off season dogs OK. Many people drive to park and watch sunset. Once in a while its worth it.

This beach should absolutely be on a postcard. When I picture summer on cape cod, this is exactly what I picture. It's clean and beautiful. The water is nice. There's lots of shells and tide pools to look at. The staff were kind and helpful. Couldn't picture a better beach day.

Pros: If you have kids and you make it for high tide, it’s 5 stars! Amazingly wide and long wading area during high tide.
Downside: it will be very busy with families (but if you have a family, it’s great!). If you mistime the tides, it’ll probably be weird. Parking was $30 on July 5th, so I dropped the family off and parked 1/4 up the road. Wasn’t hard to do.

Awesome for the best sunsets on Cape Cod! Great for waking and exploring during low tide. You can walk for miles!!!

i love skaket beach!! it’s one of those beaches that has really clear water, barely any rocks, but also has barely any waves and is relatively shallow. it’s best at high tide, because the water is closer to the shore and is deeper. AMAZING for sunsets!! pics below are from about a half a mile or so off shore during low tide;

Love Skate Beach for little ones and adults alike. Calm waters, tide pools, beautiful spot! $30 for parking but worth it for the clean bathrooms, parking, and views.

Skaket Beach was a slice of paradise. We spent a full day exploring the tide pools and soaking up the sun. Our kids loved the marine life like crabs in the tide pools. A perfect getaway filled with natural beauty and tranquility. Our family had a great time here. As a fulltime traveling family we've been to a TON of beaches all over the country and this one made its way into our top 5 beaches.
Note: Parking is $30 for the entire day and they only take cash.

One of the most incredible beaches on the cape. Go out in low tide and walk for miles! Great place for young children to crawl or play in the sand as well.
Heather Anselmo — Google review
Skaket Beach is a beautiful place that’s feels like a secret location en route to it with one road entrance which leads to an beautifully open body of water.
It’s perfect for families as you can see parents, grandparents and children as far as the eye can see. So there’s a level of safety if that’s important you. The area can be seen within distance but of course, always encourage the buddy system ☺️
There’s not much waves and remains low tide most of the day.
I do recommend arriving early as their parking lot is very small and can’t accommodate the number of visitors. ($30.00 for parking. Cash ONLY)
There is a small area about .5 mile down where you can park for free but it’s first come/fist served.
Enjoy!
Boogie Down Baldy — Google review
Beautiful beach, long walk to water during low tide early in the day. Parking lot is a fair size and several feet from the beach sand. The shoreline can reach approximately two football fields. That’s literally the only downfall. The warm is lukewarm, which is especially desirable for one’s body that’s not able to tolerate the traditional New England water.

The best beach discovery of the year on my part, what a beautiful and pleasant place. Polite people and the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen so far in the cape code.

Beautiful view, not crazy crowded (early August at sunset), bathrooms close at 5pm but there are porta potties for the desperate. Parking very convenient but costs money.
Diane IsMyName — Google review
One of my favorite beaches to go as a family or even a couple! It's great for kids because of the shallow water and no big waves. The parking lot borders the beach so no hills to walk over to get to the beach. Check the tide because if it's high tide in the morning you want to get there early as there is limited space. When it's low tide there is a lot of room to spread out and you can walk for miles. Snack shack is always delicious! Definitely a great spot for sunsets.
I just don't know where to begin. As soon as you get out of your car you can feel the peace and serenity surrounding you. The grounds are magnificent and the church itself could not be more beautiful.
We stopped in the shop and were met by Father Peter who remembered we had been there last year. He us a lovely and gracious man and being in his company is such a pleasure.
I only wish we lived there year round so we could enjoy the community more fully.
If you are in the area it would benefit you to stop in and visit.

My husband and I visited this church a few years ago due to our love of art and architecture. We were given a great tour and told about the life/community of those who live on campus. It seemed extreme to give up all your things, take an oath of poverty and potentially raise children like that. Was not surprised to see one of its past members engaging in extremest activities in DC over Gaza. Likely won’t be returning, recommending or supporting.

The tour of this magnificent church was such a wonderful experience. Our docent, Sister Diana, was informative and sweet. The artistry was amazing. The stone work, the mosaics, and the murals were museum quality masterpieces. It was a unexpected gem of a find! I felt a great peacefulness there. They do not accept donations, but a visit to the gift shop is a treat with lovely homemade items. We each left with a treasure.

While they have a most excellent book & gift shop, the highlight of a visit will be a tour of the incredible Church of the Transfiguration. Our docent/tour guide was an actual member of the monastic community. The church is renowned for its transcendent beauty, it's acoustics, and a massive, very unique pipe organ. I suggest that you take advantage of any available opportunity to attend a worship service. I did, and was awed by the experience.

We were given a tour of the church, and were amazed by the artwork contained within. Mosaics that were drawn here, then produced by artists in Italy, then flown back and assembled in sections. The pictures don't do it justice. It's worth the time if you're nearby. Beautiful!

Although the church was officially closed by for rehearsal, one of the members brought us on a short tour during a break. Will definitely return hopefully, during their time of prayers though chanting.
Very friendly members, beautiful church and grounds.
Hog Island Beer Co. is a well-respected brewery on Cape Cod with an excellent reputation for its products, which are available throughout Massachusetts. The tasting room is situated in the heart of Orleans and is easily accessible to visitors. It's open daily from 11:30 AM until 11 PM, giving you plenty of time to try their exceptional beers.
What a great little beer company right in Orleans on the Cape! And now, since the pandemic, you can actually purchase beer made on the premises and bring it home in cans! In the past, you could only get in bottles that had to be returned. Now, the place is larger, with open party areas and one indoors. There are games and Hog Island apparel as well as great beer!
Elizabeth Gramer — Google review
Such a weird place, it feels like they don't know what direction they want to go in. It took a few minutes to figure out where to enter, which is actually through the back, up some over grown stairs. Interior is very much a hodgepodge of ascetics. Beer is just OK, I did enjoy their hazy IPA, but everything else was meh. Service was friendly but not the most prompt.
Nathan Brown — Google review
Great brews in a great patio. All of our beers were tasty and there were a good variety of Hog Island and "guest" taps.
First, the quirks:
The brewery entrance is in the back of the building and the sign that indicates that is hidden in some shrubbery so it may not be entirely clear.
The picnic tables have table service that appears to be handled by the Jailhouse Tavern, although everyone is wearing Hog Island shirts.
There are upcharges for things you order which are not enumerated on the menu.
There is a "convenience charge" to use your credit card.
Now, the food:
The food itself was "meh". Our wings were too lightly sauced and the ostensibly hot mango habanero sauce was not very hot. The gyro was okay but the sauce was weird.

As two other patrons experienced, I was not pleased with the seating experience. We went to the inside bar and spoke to the bartender about the beautiful weather. She said we could sit in shade and just order beer at the tables. So, we went to the hostess area, and he asked if we're getting food. If we were only ordering beer, we had to sit in Adirondack chairs in the sun, at high noon, not in a shaded area, or just go to the inside bar. And he walked away.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Did I mention there were plenty of open tables?
Being from Florida, we came a long way and wanted to try the beer. It seems like they want people to order food, not beer. Isn't beer the focus of a brewery? We opted not to get any beer to go or swag.
Beer was okay, but it may have tasted better if I didn't have a sour experience in my mouth.

Nice beer garden. Some truly awful beer. Photo is a completely uncarbonated red ale. Just putrid. Golden Ale is of equally miserable character. Wish I could've ordered tasters first, but I was told they weren't pouring them tonight. Brewers here need to up their game. Also VERY expensive... $7 per plastic cup.

Once, we realized that it was a bar, we were worried, because I have a LOT of dietary issues. But I got a salad with salmon and sweet potato fries and everything was great!!!
Edit: While I still am giving it a five, I did have a slight reaction. I suspect that it was the sweet potato fries. As reactions go, it wasn't too bad, so I am thinking that it was just a 'smidge' of a contact with whatever the trigger was. Or, maybe there were added ingredients!
Whatever the reason, great place with fantastic food.
Teresa Trimm — Google review
The food and atmosphere both deserve five stars, and the beers are also excellent with a five-star rating. They also have love music on weekends. However, the restaurant's layout can be confusing. The hostess couldn't accurately estimate the wait time for a table, initially providing a 45-minute estimate, but a table was available in just 10 minutes. Additionally, she wasn't pleasant to deal with.

Fun place to grab some beers and something to eat. Food was just ok, the flat breads weren’t the best but sandwiches were good. It’s kid friendly for the most part but my wife said there was no changing table in the bathroom which was lame.

Food was good and beer was very good. Plenty of parking and there is a handicapped entrance through the rear doors to the brewery. Lots of outdoor seating including many tables with umbrellas or under a tent. Food was good and beers were all good (we got a flight and an order of buffalo wings and sweet potato fries). 😊

Stopped by quick to grab beer to go, the cashier was friendly and they had a good beer selection. I have since tried session IPA and Kelp Stout and both had good flavor. Plus side is they had their own homemade root beer that my kids loved!

The white patrons got served and asked what they wanted when they just walked up to the bar. In the meantime, I had been sitting at the bar trying to get the bar tender's attention for some time. I gave them the benefit of doubt thinking it was just busy, but the bartender asked the guy to my left if he wanted another refill and any new white patron walking up to the bar to our right what they wanted to drink. Completely ignored me and my friends/family.
Service was slow all around. Parking is plentiful but you have to walk far to get to the entrance. They closed the front entrance for a private event which you don't see until you actually walk up to the door. Then it's a walk all the way around the building.
Beer selection is small - 3 IPAs, a red ale, and some other item. Maybe it was a good sign we were ignored as I see other patrons saying the beer sucks or is expensive.
We just happened to stumble upon this real gem. I would highly recommend visiting for anyone interested in a bit of fascinating history and/or engineering. Run by knowledgeable and committed volunteers. Thank you!

Went several years back. Was interesting to view some history of communication. Before cell phones and airplanes people relied on the Trans Atlantic cables for communication with Europe. People use to have to maybe wait months to hear of news abroad with the construction of the cable it created and allowed faster communication with faraway places.

Great little museum. The tour includes a movie and docent talk in five locations in the tiny space. This museum is a real gem. Go see it while the people who do the tours who have family connections to those who worked at the station are still here to tell the tales. Park in back, enter in front. You may have to wait outside until someone is free to give you the tour.

What a wonderful preservation of history. Free to the public, there are wonderfully knowledgeable volunteers that take you through the history and artifacts that are still set up as they were back in the 1800's. It is neat to see how communication evolved, as well as the science and materials behind the ideas. The stand alone building is an old home and takes about 45 minutes to an hour to go through. There is free parking in the back.

This windmill was walking distance from our accommodations, so I'm glad I didn't travel far to see it. That said, it is a piece of history, on very lovely grounds so you will enjoy not only it but the view. Interesting to read the background on how it can to be where it sits today. I came to this church without expectations.
The first issue was they are having a Eucharist where they have a community cup which is outrageous with our knowledge today. Herpes simplex, NE virus, HIV, hepatitis, herpes simplex is transmitted through the mouth. What are they thinking, waiting a cup with a cloth does not eliminate these germs! Small cups are used in today's world The assistant, a woman, was leading the service today, October 8th, 2017. Her sermon started off fine but then it degraded to her speaking against the Second Amendment of property ownership and being able to defend oneself. Her personal communistic ideology does not belong in the pulpit. Then she continued to speak about her personal ideology of stronger gun laws and told us all to write to our President & Congressmen. That platform of a reverend/priest is not a forum for personal political agenda. Those of us educated in history understand her ideology leads to Communism not a better world. The Bible States: let a man earn enough to provide for his family and to share with others. It does not say give up your right of ownership and the right to defend yourself.
I will never return to this church with this offensive assistant because I don't want to hear someone's political agenda--I come to hear God's word and worship. She needs to educate herself about the Biblical idea that the condition of the heart is what promotes crimes, not the weapon of choice. A bomb would have caused the same destruction. The shooting was done by a man with a clean background and would have been approved for as many weapons as he wanted; I speak with respect, however, this persons misplaced platform and naivety is very evident.

The venue offers an intimate atmosphere, which complements the event. Additionally, it was revealed that following the recital, the museum would be hosting a nautical exhibit. This unexpected twist highlights the remarkable transformation that this museum has undergone and makes it even more appealing to visit.
What an awesome turnaround this museum has experienced. Well worth the visit.

I came to Orleans Historical Society from New York City for a High School Piano Recital. I found the space intimate. I found out that after the Recital, they would be hosting a nautical exhibit. Lovely time.

Noelle and the Orleans Chamber staff (and board) work really hard to help local organizations with visibility in tourism, advocating, and promoting all the great things in the area. Highly recommend their website to find information, events, and to get involved and meet new people.

Disappointing. I was looking for a street map of the Town of Orleans. But nothing.
