Gantry Plaza State Park is located in Long Island City and offers an unobstructed view of Manhattan's skyline. The 12-acre park contains restored gantries and is a great place to watch the sun set.
It's really lovely to visit, especially in springtime. They added more public rest rooms finally. And a nice assortment of food trucks on site as well. The view is marvelous! But be prepared to pay garage parking, as the street is very difficult.

This is a beautiful park with stunning view of the Manhattan skyline.
We were on Pier 3 and went around 3:30 on Independence day, the park employees were giving wristbands which was promising anticipating the large crowd expected to watch the fireworks. However, the pier got overcrowded. People were sitting on picnic blankets while others were kicking and stepping, very poorly managed.
Too many people.

Gantry Plaza State Park is a hidden gem in the midst of the urban landscape of New York City, and it has quickly become my go-to retreat since moving here from Oregon. Nestled along the East River, this park offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and city charm.
The park's most striking feature is its breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Whether I'm visiting during the day to admire the city's iconic landmarks or at night to soak in the dazzling lights, the vista never fails to impress.
Beyond its picturesque scenery, Gantry Plaza is impeccably maintained, with clean pathways, lush greenery, and well-kept facilities. It's evident that the staff take great pride in preserving this urban oasis for visitors to enjoy.
What I love most about Gantry Plaza is its versatility. Whether I'm looking for a peaceful spot to read a book, a scenic backdrop for a romantic date, or simply a place to clear my mind and find inspiration, the park never disappoints. There's something inherently calming about being surrounded by nature while still immersed in the energy of the city.
Gantry Plaza State Park is a true hidden gem that offers respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you're a local looking for a peaceful escape or a visitor seeking a glimpse of New York's natural beauty, this park is a must-visit destination.

Such a beautiful spot. There’s a doggy area, kids area, an area with tables and bench seating to grab a bite if needed, restrooms and you can grab some food there as well. Can also take the ferry over to Manhattan. The views are amazing. Public Parking is very limited around there, there are parking garages that you can pay and park.

It's very peaceful here. The field has synthetic grass, it's amazing how much love is around when you hear people playing games out there. There's a valley ball next with sand opposed to grass on the opposite side of the restaurant which is where the fairies bored and unload.. The food there is really good. It's on the expensive side but at least it tastes good.

What a great place to come and get night skyline shots of Manhattan. I also came during the day and it’s a beautiful place to walk and spend the day. Specially for children and pets. They have a beach volleyball court, a children’s playground with water features. My favorite spot: sitting at the walk board at night to just soak my senses with the beautiful Manhattan view 🥰 I ❤️NY

It is the epitome of brilliant landscape architecture and ecology reclamation.
I think it’s a prime spot for a date, stroll, jog, or a moment to reflect.

For NYC this was a nice day out . Pretty crowded in some areas like the playground. But a nice wide open area to walk and view the city . There was a green area for folks to play ball or exercise the day we went there was a production with dancers in the park. A overall family place .A park for everyone. Food trucks , picnic tables, sunning chairs. We looked for a free hammock but all were occupied. Restrooms were available.

No other view from Queens can get better than this one, this is a very big, spacious and well cared for park. There is a little of bit of everything happening here, whether you want to take a nice walk, have a picnic, take your dog to the doggie park, play volleyball at the sand courts, enjoy the divine view or take your kids to the playground (there are two) you will find something for you and your loved ones.
Parking can be extremely challenging around here so be patient and prepared.
There are tons of food trucks around plus they also have a small food court towards near the bathrooms.
Don’t forget to place all trash inside the trash cans or take it with you this park deserves our care and attention.

Great place to chill
Gantry Plaza State Park is a 12-acre riverside oasis that boasts spectacular views of the midtown Manhattan skyline, including the Empire State Building and the United Nations. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the park's four piers or through the park's manicured gardens and unique mist fountain. Along the way take a moment to admire the rugged beauty of the park's centerpieces - restored gantries. These industrial monuments were once used to load and unload rail car floats and barges; today they are striking reminders of our waterfront's past. With the city skyline as a backdrop and the gantries as a stage, the park's plaza is a wonderful place to enjoy a spring or summer concert. Recreational facilities include basketball courts, playgrounds, handball courts, and a fishing pier with its own cleaning table.

Gorgeous waterfront green space. Nice row of restaurants behind it and very well kept. It's always a pleasure to come by on a week day and get quiet time overlooking a gorgeous sky line. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to take some nice pictures. Also, for some reason Google is suggesting there are tickets needed. This is not true, entry to the plaza is free.

Lots of places to sit and view the city skyline. Day or night, it doesn't matter. Come down for the views and take pics of the Pepsi sign that's lit red at night. Parking is hard to find though but after 6 it is a little more manageable but better to come by public transportation. Has a small playground as well as a few restaurants close by

Beautiful museum with a gorgeous layout and calming atmosphere. It was raining when I visited but I would have loved to relax longer in the outdoor gardens. Book tickets ahead of time and download the Bloomberg app they use. This place is a hidden gem. The art is spread out pretty well, there’s a good amount of seating throughout even if it’s a small museum. The art is unique and even if you’re like me and don’t understand it all it’s nice. I like it and will continue to swing by as the exhibitions change out.

This intimate, contemplative museum in Long Island City was conceived and built by Isamu Noguchi himself. Here, his mostly abstract sculptures are displayed on two floors of exhibition space. Outside, the works are displayed in tranquil, ivy-covered walled gardens, where they blend in with nature. One of my favorite place in NY

Really beautiful and interesting art museum. Obviously hard to get to, but I say it was worth the trek!
We came on a Saturday afternoon. You can buy times entry tickets online, but we just walked in and bought tickets. There was a 3pm talk about their temporary exhibit and it was so informative. The guide talked for around an hour straight and it was entirely engaging and captivating. They explained each art piece and the reasoning behind why each piece was chosen to be a part of the exhibit and how they expand our social contexts on Japanese internment and the artists born of that painful historical event.

One note -- the gift shop isn't great for souvenirs, its more of a specialty arts and crafts shop

A completely new take on what a museum should be. I recommend the free hour-long guided tour around the property. The spaces are divided in areas and one can follow them in order to understand the artist's vision. There is a lovely shop too where you can buy postcards and Noguchi designs. The museum has many collaborations for free entries like ICOM and AAM.

Spent a little over an hour in the space. Also spent some time in the garden after- would recommend sitting and enjoying the space after you walk through everything!
Went late after on a random Friday in August and it wasn't crowded at all.

A place of silence, where the soft music in the background creates a serene atmosphere, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the intricate details of the unimaginable sculptures on display. The museum's history and origin are as fascinating as the artwork itself, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in art and culture.

This space is an oasis within the city. It is so serene and quiet and as you walk around, taking in Noguchi’s stone sculptures, it is easy to forget you are in a noisy chaotic city. The spacious industrial interior gives a lot of room for his pieces to breathe. They are timeless and look like artifacts from some ancient culture, like Stonehenge. Also, on the second floor there is a large gallery space for exhibits of other artists. And the (very pricey but lovely) shop displays a wide array of his “akari” sculptures (paper lanterns). Noguchi set up this museum in 1985 and, contemplating the role of a museum — in this case a permanent exhibition — he wrote that what it achieves, for the art, is the “removal from time’s passage.”

This is a single artist museum (sculptor Isamu Noguchi 1904–1988) and a peaceful zen sculpture garden in the Long Island City. It opened in 1985, established by Japanese- American artist Isamu Noguchi. Some of the benches, sculptures were made from the 75 year old ‘tree of Heaven’ that was the center piece in the garden until 2008. The gift shop was filled with calming music and aroma. The tour was very helpful in understanding the artist’s abstract art work.

The Noguchi Museum is one of my all time favorites. It easy to forget you are in Long Island City when you are inside. In addition to the installation of Noguchi’s work in this transformative space, the curation of the exhibits, wall texts, and written materials transport visitors provide crucial context and history. Everything is so well considered down to the lounge area with film reels playing. Rest is so important in a museum- especially one so dense with experience and meaning. The visitors staff puts this museum at the top of a must visit list. From the front desk to gift shop and throughout the galleries, everyone was so welcoming and knowledgeable, (and, quite frankly, charming!). This is unique for a serious art space, in my experience. They were even kind to me when I brought my 5 yo kid. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

There’s always a good show to excite your imagination or sooth your soul. Very progressive and diverse art at this place. The book store is full of surprises. Spend 10 minutes looking at the sky at the James Turrell “Meeting”. Change your sit a couple of times and you’ll see a difference sky down a different perspective. Oh, visitors tend to be friendly, approachable, and kind.

The museum is very peaceful! It’s all about the evolution and the small accomplishments of people residing in Queen’s & the artwork showcased by them. The only thing is they have very limited artwork. I was a little confused as I just got to see very few pieces of artwork. I wasn’t able to see half of the artwork as shown on google, maybe because half of the museum was closed due to renovation. I guess the MOMA museum in Manhattan is bigger with variety of artwork.
Overall simple & good experience! The museum has a cafe as well , you can sit outside and enjoy a good meal w you’re family or friends.

What a waste of such a large space! I like art and I’m very choosy about it. I have seen good Modern art, but what I witnessed here was mostly atrocity. Felt like wasted my hours to visit this place and walk around. 1 of the floors was closed for installation and 2 floors which were open didn’t have any impressive art. Uploading pictures of the only 2 installations I admired.
Good things- the staff is good and courteous. The lockers room service is also good. There is a souvenir shop if interested. And a café at the 1st floor.

This is an amazing museum, and easy to get to from Manhattan. I highly recommend visiting! I was there for a book launch of a monograph on the work of post minimalist sculptor Richard Nonas. Then I saw the James Turrell exhibit as well as the installation of artist Leslie Martinez. Then I visited the 1902 historic boiler room which includes installations by Sol LeWitt, Matt Mullican and Saul Melman.

MoMA PS1 is a great place to experience contemporary art. It’s free for New York residents. The museum features a rotating schedule of exhibitions, so there is always something new to see. The exhibits are well-curated and thought-provoking, and the museum's staff is friendly and helpful. It is also a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
In addition, the historical boiler room in the basement is a captivating space that adds a unique touch to the overall experience. Transformed into an immersive art installation, it serves as a reminder of the museum's rich industrial past.

If you find yourself in the LIC area and are looking for something to do in your free time, this museum is the perfect choice!
During the week, I visited this museum with a friend, commuting all the way from BK. The transfer from the Q train to the local train was seamless, and it only took a quick 3-minute walk to reach the museum entrance. The best part? Tickets are completely free for NYC residents! Yes, you read that right - FREE! Just make sure to order them online in advance.
There was no waiting time to enter, and the staff members were incredibly friendly from the moment we arrived until we left. Although it's a smaller museum, you can expect to spend a maximum of 90 minutes exploring all it has to offer.
If you happen to be in the LIC area, I highly recommend paying this museum a visit. Additionally, I suggest coming during the late spring or early summer to witness the breathtaking permanent James Turrell exhibit. Trust me, it will transport you to another dimension both mentally and spiritually. It's an experience that I would definitely return for.

A unique museum experience. The building reminded me of an asylum with its white brick walls, long cold hallways and white doors haha! During my visit, the exhibitions seemed to theme around cultural representation.
The bookstore has a wide range of artistic books for adults and children.

The museum is great no knocks there. The summer party dance party did leave a lot on the table however. Very little food options for such a large event. The music was decent until the final act got on and played 2016 club hits with little to no creativity or style in approach. That said it still managed to bring a crowd likely cause this party is free for LIC residents.

The small offshoot of large MOMA with small but extraordinary changing exhibitions. Not so crowded, because perhaps not yet so well known? I enjoyed it and it was worth the 10$ by far. One should be open for new things 👍👍👍👍👍

I love this space and the exhibits, but it's always a short visit since lockdown. The exhibits are smaller, and there are fewer of them. If you have a membership or are in the area, drop in. See the Turell room! Not really a destination anymore, but it's still good for an art lover.

This is a small offshoot from the MoMA in Manhattan and I think this museum has more recent contemporary art than the main one. There was only one exhibition that really interested me, the rest were okay in my opinion. The two permanent installations on the top floor were definitely my favorite, and seeing the historic boiler room in the basement was cool too. I would still come back depending on if there were interesting exhibitions coming through. The old school building was also fun to navigate and felt cool in the sense that it was a non traditional museum setting. Overall I think this museum was worth checking out mainly because it’s free for NY residents, I would only pay the $10 admission fee if there was an exhibit I was interested in.

I‘ve been visiting PS1 for some time, including the summer WarmUp series. It‘s a cool space to spend an afternoon to experience contemporary art - and of weather permitting sit in the outdoor courtyard. Make it a day to LIC to explore the small Hunters Point Historic District and walk to the waterfront afterwards.
Hunters Point South Park is a beautiful waterfront park in Long Island City that offers stunning views of the Midtown East Manhattan skyline. The park is also connected to Gantry Plaza State Park, making it a great place to walk or bike around.
Beautiful little park by the water that’s super clean! It’s really nice walk with some small cherry blossom trees. It has a nice walking path, playground, basketball court, and dog park. There’s also some planted flowers that add a nice touch. The view of Manhattan and the bridge from here is absolutely stunning. There’s a bunch of food trucks as well along the park on the street side so you can grab a snack. There was a good amount of people there this Friday afternoon but didn’t feel crowded. It’s a nice spot to come relax and enjoy LIC and admire Manhattan & city life. There’s good restaurants too nearby as well as a good bakery. Definitely worth a visit 😎

Great park to visit. For several reasons.. Plenty of activities to do ranging from sports to dog parks to jogging, cycling, walking on a long board, enjoying the view of Manhattan from the distance. Large soccer field with plenty of benches, and public restrooms available near the field. Plenty of food and beverages surrounding the area whether it be in the park itself or the nearby neighborhood. The positioning of the park is very close to Long Island City. The words are showcased on a large board right behind the long board. Water activities on the water itself available. From going on cruise ships to private speed boats, there is plenty of variety for all ages. A wide voluminous amount of culture of people found as well, from Asian to Hindu to American to Hispanic to Black, New York has it all. Great place to easily make new friends. Dogs included! There is a dog park for your pets to play at right next to the playground. The playgrounds included are one for children and another for adults right next to it. In addition to that, there's a training area, pull up bar, and basketball court. Overall a very lively place to visit during a weekend or holiday!

This is my favorite park in the city! The parks department did a great job of designing a park that serves many functions. People can enjoy it. (I spend a lot of time here). It also has restored a small portion of wetlands, which is what this area originally was. And wetlands are a critical ecosystem: serving as a nursery for various types of wildlife and filtering and cleaning the water. Wetlands also act as a buffer from storm surges. Not only by helping to block inland areas, but by also acting as a sponge and absorbing storm surge water. So this park serves as a perfect example of what all of our riverside parks should be. Acting as places both people and wildlife can flourish in. Help to clean our polluted waterways. While protecting our city from increasing storm surges and rising tides.
Fifth Hammer Brewing Company is located in the heart of Astoria and offers 16 rotating drafts, including options for gluten-free and vegan drinkers. The brewery also has a cask engine that allows for beers to be aged in oak barrels. Fifth Hammer hosts food trucks every Tuesday through Sunday. Great dog-friendly brewery in the heart of Long Island City. They have a great selection of tasty craft brews and there’s usually a food truck parked out front or a third party vendor inside making small bites. There’s a limited amount of seating outside and there’s a good amount of seats inside but not a ton so if there are a few groups already inside you might be stuck standing. They have a few board games in stock to play as well. Came here on a cold winter night and it had a very cozy atmosphere with a digital fireplace playing up on the projector screen.

I have been coming to this place a couple of years. Summer time is my favorite time since I can sit outside watch sunset and have a beer. They usually have a food truck on-site. They vary. Indoor and outdoor seating bathrooms dog friendly and games. Many origibal craft beers and they are seasonal , and the brewing is on site. 🍺🍻 5/27/23 still coming strong! Love coming to this place
The Cliffs at LIC is an expansive rock climbing gym that features a variety of colorful faces and a rappel tower suitable for both adults and children. It is the perfect destination for those seeking an active pastime within the city. Even during the pandemic, it remains a great place to work out due to its helpful and friendly staff. The facility even accommodates Paracliffhangars, providing them with ample opportunity to participate in this thrilling activity.
The Cliffs LIC is a great all-around climbing gym. There’s plenty of bike parking out front and there’s even an indoor bike room right by the entrance when you walk in.
There are locker rooms (don’t forget to bring a lock) that also have bathrooms and showers.
After checking in (you’ll need to take a belay test if you don’t yet have a Cliffs belay certification card or take one of their classes to learn), you’ll be greeted by an IMMENSE top roping space. It’s literally jaw-dropping. I’ve never seen higher indoor climbing walls and there’s an incredible number of climbs. There are also about 8 auto-belay climbs on the left side of the facility.
There’s a decent sized bouldering wall that has varying degrees of climbs, including a cave, and there’s also a small extra bouldering wall on the second floor.
There’s a store on the first floor that sells all sorts of climbing gear.
The second floor has a small weight lifting gym area and climbing finger board, and there’s also some elliptical and treadmill machines up on the second floor by the small extra bouldering wall.
Overall, the Cliffs LIC is a sprawling facility with friendly staff and you’ll have a great climbing day if you ever stop by. I highly recommend.

I love this place as I do the place in Gowanus. This place is great because it’s all laid out on basically one floor. There is an upstairs but you can see and wave to friends from the first floor. Just one big climbing dome. It gives me a sense of community when I see some of the same people switching it up on the weekend from here, Harlem and Brooklyn. I’m glad not too much has changed once Movement took over. Love the staff, love the art work and of course love the community. Good vibes only.

A lot of fun and very challenging!
It was my first time climbing so I don’t know more than what they told us at the checkin and intro. There are are several different levels and forms of climbing, it’s very impressive watching experienced climbers push themselves. We tried the beginner ones and spent about 2 hours climbing and taking breaks. We rented all the gear and used the liquid chalk dispensers placed around the gym. But if you go a few times within a month you’re better off getting a monthly membership.
It was nice to see people of different ages and backgrounds focusing on themselves in the moment and reaching the top. It’s a very active environment and it’s encouraging to be around.

I really recommend this place if you're looking to start climbing or you're a seasoned climber looking for a large variety of routes. The stuff are very friendly and professional. Also give the kids and parents instruction.

Absolutely loved their sister bouldering gym in Harlem, so I decided to come out to enjoy some auto-belay top roping here. It was a busy Sunday afternoon, with regular top rope, bouldering and auto-belay areas consistently filled with climbers. Similar to Harlem, I still found the community to be friendly and welcoming, although a bit greener in terms of climbing. The auto-belay area had some decent routes that provided some challenges and a good workout. The bouldering and regular top-rope areas were more expansive and looked like a lot of fun. I'll definitely come back to check them out soon. A good amount of lockers, clean bathrooms and great staff who made sure everyone was climbing safely.

This was an awesome place to spend a Sunday morning! My group was four people and we took the Intro to Rock Climbing class together with two other couples. Our instructor was Russell and he was very patient and kind teaching us! He was very capable and made sure we all felt comfortable doing knots and belaying our partners. He was attentive and answered our repetitive questions. After the class you are able to have full access to the entire place. While it was a weekend, there were still empty walls you can practice and climb for as long as you wanted. I had such a fun time and would definitely recommend!!

Awesome gym. High sport climbing walls; the lead cave section was really nice. Bouldering here seemed much harder than what I'm used to. But all in all, fun none the less.

I LOVE the Cliffs @ LIC.
Incredible variety of climbing for all styles and skill levels.
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff, with excellent lessons (limited to class sizes of 4).
Quality gym equipment both specialized for climbing and for proper lifts (deadlifts / squats).
And above all, the patrons that frequent the Cliffs are lovely people. Friendly, open to sharing tips or hints when tackling a ‘problem’ (bouldering runs for those who are unfamiliar with the lingo).
If you are seeking a climbing gym in the city, this is the way!!

Super spacious with various options of climbing - auto-belay, bouldering etc. Clean, and pet friendly. They have student rates too - remember to bring a student ID. Staff varies in attitude but generally really nice.

I had a fantastic experience at this indoor climbing gym! It's incredibly beginner-friendly, offering first-class sessions to learn the basics. The spacious environment and laid-back, knowledgeable staff make it welcoming. Bonus points for being pet-friendly—service animals are allowed, and they even have hooks on benches for your furry friends. Highly recommended for a fun and inclusive climbing experience.

Amazing ropes climbing. No doubt the best place to climb ropes in the city. The arching cave in the back of the gym is exclusively for lead climbing and unapologetically hard. This area has the most challenging lines in the city. The rest of the gym has something for every skill level. The weight area is impressive as well!

We hosted my son's 8th birthday party at this climbing gym this past weekend, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Cole N. the events coordinator, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process, providing prompt and clear communication via email. He made sure every detail was taken care of, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience for us as parents. He even provided a great recommendation for pizza delivery nearby.
We also opted for a private lesson couple of weeks prior with Jonathan R. for our son to help him feel mentally prepared & comfortable at the party, and it was one of the best decisions we made. Jonathan was patient, knowledgeable, and did an excellent job of instilling confidence in our son before the big day.
During the birthday party, our instructors Matt, Rachel, & MJ were absolute rock stars. They were not only skilled climbers themselves but also fantastic with our group of 13 energetic kids + their grown ups watching. Their enthusiasm and encouragement were contagious, creating a fun and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved. It was evident that they genuinely cared about their jobs and the experience of each child, especially our own.
Overall, our experience at this climbing gym was nothing short of inspiring & wonderful. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to host a memorable and enjoyable event. Thank you to Cole, Jonathan, Matt, Rachel, MJ, and the entire team for making our son's birthday party a success!

Relative to climbing gyms, this place is compact and crowded, but the young people , esp those in high schools who come after school, there have amazing skills and are truly a joy to watch!! The trails are difficult. I can only climb 6 of them…. glad to see there is auto belay.

A family member who goes here all the time took me today and it was so fun! I have a whole new level of respect for climbers. Lots of options (most of which I was far too basic to conquer!). A great workout and opportunity to hang out with friends at the same time!

This seems like a great place for top-rope climbing, it's a huge facility with plenty of options!
My lower star review is for the customer experience I received when I went for the first time last Wednesday.
I was telling my friend not to rent a harness and the woman who was signing us in then said, "you do know that all the bouldering is closed off today, right?". I'm not too sure how we were supposed to know but her coworker helpfully told us that it was closed due to an upcoming competition.
What really put down my mood was that the worker seemed visibly annoyed when asking us if we knew how to use the ropes and huffed when her coworker brought up orientation/training for us.
I believe that the worker realized because she was animated and cheerful when she was orientating us. Afterwards, she then told us that we were restricted to one small area because you had to pass a test if you wanted to use any other area.
The excitement that I felt before coming was gone at this point and I felt a bit swindled. They knew we were newcomers, so I wish that they could have told us that the bouldering was closed off AND that we are restricted to one wall before we paid.

Socrates Sculpture Park is a large-scale art park built on an abandoned landfill site in Long Island City, Queens. The park is dedicated to the art of sculpture, but its also home to a variety of other installations and performances, making it a great place to spend an afternoon or evening.
Cute little park by the East River, north of Costco in Vernon Boulevard, Astoria. BBQ area right next to one entrance, restrooms. Some metal sculptures on the side, but used to be many more in central areas.

Beautiful park with lots of interesting art that they rotate every season. They also hold events in the summer/weekends. Excellent spot to also watch the sunsetting over Manhattan. Best part is that mainly only locals visit, since it is not in the main tourist area. Your fur babies will love it too!

Great park along the waterfront with interesting art installations that are rotated every season. It's always fun checking out the new art pieces here. Socrates organizes a lot of fun and engaging events for the community. They always have interesting events going on, ranging from the annual summer solstice, yoga/fitness and outdoor concerts. For most of the time, it's a relaxing and chill place to hang out or have a picnic. An asset for the local community for everything they do. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, not many sculptures. Some are broken and incomplete. When it rains it's incredibly muddy since a good majority of the park is not paved properly.....in some areas at all. Such a shame for a park that has been here this long. There is not even a restroom and it's not wheelchair accessible.

One of the most depressing looking “parks” I’ve been to in NYC. Very poorly maintained, and the “sculptures” are reminiscent of 90’s junkyard. I would not recommend coming here.
Sho Tsuyuki — Google review
Was hoping to be blown away by a number of outdoor sculptures but when I arrived, it was a small park with not many sculptures and the ones that were there weren't super interesting of eye-catching. Bathrooms available in the summer are nice although no hand sanitizer anywhere. Some benches in the shade although the bench near the trash can meant flies kept coming over and disturbing the peace. Overall wouldn't visit again.

Such a great place to bring your dog and be able to get them to socialize. First time going and being introduced. There’s the little beach area if your dog wants to jump in the water and cool off, and there’s also this really cute dog cafe across the street to grab a bite to eat.

Small free park with some open space and a few sculptures.
Arrived here at about 2pm on a nice Sunday and was able to get street parking about 2 blocks away.
A bunch of people laid out on the open space on beach/park towels or lawn chairs. Not too much else to do or see...unless they hold events there.

2 stars because i came for the sculptures and art installations and there werent any. I shouldve double checked the website and i would've seen they are in between exhibits. It was a nice relaxing time to get away from the city, there are nice waterfront views. I just made the trip out here for nothing. So if you're going because you want to see any of the structures and art, just check the website first.

A nice park overall but it is not well kept, it is bugs and mosquitos infested. It has become disgusting and quite frankly the sculptures aren’t something to be awed at.
The Secret Theatre Academy, located at the Long Island City Art Center, is a small and intimate performance venue that showcases theater, dance, opera and improv. The space offers great views from all seats except for those behind structural beams. The "Act One: One Act Play Festival" was recently held here with fantastic performances including "Help Get Over You" and "Clean-Shaven". Utilizing the facility for rehearsals will be a pleasant experience due to the accommodating staff and spacious environment.

My family and I went for the Peanuts' Christmas performance on December. The place is very small and cozy, it was a very entertaining and catchy play; what left me a negative experience was the staff in the theatre. They weren't courteous, the 2 gentlemen were inpatient and seemed to be confused about how to distribute the seats. It wasn't my first time there, I usually go with friends and our kids, but every time I go there's always a feeling of confusion among the staff.

My wife and I loved the performance of "Much Ado About ..." Intimate theater, great performance! You can reach out and touch the actors because you are SO close ... I very much liked being able to be SO close to the performers and hear them breath... and feel the emotion, the laugher , the sadness, the love.
The character switches were fabulous. I loved how they used the accents ... well done! At intermission I stuck up a few conversations with friendly folks ... one gentleman explained to me some very funny twists in the interpretation ... the other guy I spoke to was struggling with the language of Shakespeare but he was enjoying the performance also. I was truly entertained by these talented actors for a VERY reasonable price.
I recommend this performance ... you are NOT taking a chance ... it is a STRONG show with great actors. I may seem sappy or simpleminded, but I DID Laugh and I DID Cry.
The dog was very well trained!

It's not a classic theater, but it's an important venue in LIC. Right off of the train, near places to eat and drink. Both the big theater (99 seats or so) and the black box are good places to watch a show.

The Secret Theatre is a sweet, hidden theatre that's surprisingly convenient to get to- close to the G/7/E/M/R/N or Q and not far from the F- and is constantly showcasing an array of shows for any type of show-goer. We especially love the Late Night Series because Guilty Pleasures Burlesque has an entertaining variety show on the last Saturday of the month, every other month ;)
This is a wonderful museum. It's clear that it is the product of a lifetime of fascination with elevators -- and of careful and passionate collecting. Patrick (the curator) has created a collection that can appeal to so many different people in so many different ways. And he is so willing to share his enthusiasm and encyclopedic knowledge with visitors. He was especially kind and welcoming to my 10-year-old son (another elevator buff), connecting with him over the evolution of safety features and innovations in design and sharing his stories of elevator maintenance dating back to the last days of steam elevators in New York. The museum is not just entertaining (although it really is that). Anyone interested in the history of elevators -- in the history of modern American business or industry, of architecture and urban planning, or in the cultural history of this ubiquitous modern liminal space -- would find all kinds of material here.

This place is quite well hidden above the taxi building but fantastically interesting. Great little collection of elevator paraphernalia from the mid 1800's through to the late 20th century. Call ahead to have a free tour from informative raconteur and founder, Patrick Carr.
I hope he gets industry sponsorship soon so he doesn't have to close down- the place contains some fascinating pieces of history.

A true hidden gem with a marvelous "great hall". Puts Queens on the cultural map together with MoMA PS1 and the Noguchi Museum. I enjoyed the exhibition by Berlin-based Henrike Naumann. The Jaguar Stone show by Guatemalan Edgar Calel turned the great hall of the SculptureCenter into a church or some other (Mayan) holy space. And the current exhibition "R.I.P. Germain: Avangarda" is a take on storefronts and associated illegal activities.

For a flea market/ food market, it is very clean and neat. Vendors are very sweet people. Whether you're looking for good food, a good buy, or just scenery. This is a must go. Its not available all year round so I strongly suggest you visit. Clothes are cheap but good quality. Great finds. Animal and children friendly. They also sell beer that's sectioned off to those above 21.

Hit or miss honestly. Some weekends it's great and packed and has great variety of vendors, other weekends there's 5 booths. There's a girl who makes jewelry there sometimes and her stuff is really cute!! Some of the 'vintage' sellers are just crappy stuff you find at goodwill. Food is always good though, the pickle guy is my favorite! Beer tent is cool but there's limited seating so on the weekends when it's full we just have to stand to the side somewhere, which is not ideal. Parking is tricky so we usually take the 7 train and walk up. Worth checking out if it's a nice weather weekend, we've been there when it's windy and tents have blown over onto people. Close to the water and very scenic.

Court 16 BK - Tennis Remixed™ is a contemporary tennis club that provides training for children and tennis-fitness classes for adults. This members-only club in New York City was established by a team of international tennis experts with the aim of creating an up-to-date approach to teaching this sport. The indoor facilities located in Brooklyn and Long Island City offer a welcoming, high-quality environment for players of all ages, from young beginners to adults who have taken a long hiatus from the court.
My family's experience at Court 16 has been amazing! The coaches are very good at what they do, teaching clearly and developing strong players quickly; over three-and-a-half-years, my son went from being a complete beginner to being an advanced teen player. The coaches teach kids to enjoy tennis and how to maintain a sportsmanlike mindset. Additionally, the staff are really responsive - they try to make every student's experience the best it can be. The club has stayed open and adapted to the pandemic - the coaches and staff meticulously follow safety protocols to maintain a super safe and fun environment for kids and families. Highly recommend!

I started taking group classes and private lessons here a few months ago and have really enjoyed my time so far. The place is very clean and organized. The staff are always friendly and professional. I've interacted with Coach Nick, Sam, and Dan the most and they're a lovely group of guys, highly skilled. Ana has also been great with setting up lessons.
I'm going to continue taking lessons here whenever I can but I do wish the group classes were a maximum of 4 and not 6. I don't feel that I get enough practice when the class is full and they are 1hr classes. I understand Court 16 is trying their best to include everyone as they only have 1 60' court and times are limited as they cater to both kids and adults. Overall it's a great place to learn tennis and scheduling group classes is super easy via app.

I’ve been taking lessons at Court-16 for about 2 years (since 2020, I was looking for an alternative from Equinox) and have loved being able to take private and semi private lessons as well as group classes with various coaches.
I had previously played before as a kid and wanted to get back into the sport. In just over a year I had improved so much - a different, new coach asked me if I had played in HS/College. This was just after taking tennis 2x a week (1 group class and 1 private) for less than a year.
I will note that group classes can have a different feel depending on who enrolled in the class (5-6 max for Covid safe purposes) and who is teaching. I’ve enjoyed all of my classes but some are better for technique or cardio, just depends on the coach and players. Definitely worth giving a few different classes a try! They have a good intro package where you can take a few.
Overall the classes I’ve taken have been great! There’s a great variety of classes offered at different times and the staff are excellent. I’ve really enjoyed working out, playing, and meeting people. So glad I found this place 2 years ago!

I have been taking adult beginner group tennis lessons at Court 16 for the past 6 months and I cannot say enough good things about the facility and the teachers. Even in a group setting, coach Matt, has been able to identify skills that I can work on and make actionable recommendations to improve. The environment fun and non-intimidating which was a huge plus for me since I came in never having played before and always too nervous to start. Overall, 5 stars, I would high recommend!

Not much leniency when it comes to last minute changes, which is to be expected - but the tolerance appears to be zero- even if it’s the first time! The facilities are well maintained and I especially enjoyed classes with Nabeel. Can’t recommend him enough, if you’re a beginner pickle ball player - he’s the one to see. His skill set helped me really correct some issues in my game, and his patience makes everyone feel welcomed. When I come back, it is Nabeel I’ll see. I’m an advanced beginner and am looking to improve my tennis techniques. I first tried group lesson (there were five players where six is the max) and felt there could be more feedbacks and practice. I would recommend the private ball machine class to anyone from a beginner to advanced beginner level!

So far really like this place. The staff is nice and the space is great. The website is potentially one of the worst I've ever used - it's very confusing, and requires you to re-enter the same information over again each time you make a booking, even though you've already made a profile. And it requires you to make a separate profile for each of their locations.

Great quality food with consistency. Love the friendly service and the care they give to the orders they receive. The daily soups menu are my favorite thing about Goodneighbor. For those that work out nearby know that they make excellent protein shakes!!

Their curry chicken soup is better the next day. I could taste the complexity. It was great.. The empanada sauce was great, but I was disappointed with the peruvian chicken as it had no herbs, ie no cilantro, and was just bight red in color. The soup made up for it! Their sandwiches look good and I will try one next time. There's always a huge line here. The people know. Good people running the show.

Good Neighbor Queens is the absolute best hidden gem. Tucked into the Falchi Building amongst the bustle of creatives and uber/taxi drives, Katrina and Alex are making the best small bites, sandos(egg salad), soups, salads. They also source the best local snacks - get the empanadas! The vibe is always chill, coffee always delicious.. ✌️

I gotta share this secret spot inside the Falchi building where you can get insanely good lunch! The salads are always fresh and soups are wholesome.

I’d been meaning to write a review since having the frickin yum roast beef sandwich. Today I got a drip coffee that genuinely tasted like someone was trying to give me a really good cup of coffee - really re-kindled my coffee spirit in this watery penny pinching city.

Good Neighbor Queens is phenomenal! Being a person that goes to the gym, I am always looking for fresh, nutritious, and delicious food. Good Neighbor Queens checks off all of those boxes! Their smoothies and protein shakes are simply outstanding too. Lastly, they have impeccable customer service that makes the entire experience all the more better.

A wonderful, clean, tasty natural foods shop with an array of salads, sandwiches, soup, cookies, baked goods (including empanadas), chips, snacks, and drinks. It’s a rich and fulfilling alternative to the food choices nearby. The beet/quinoa/chickpea salad is the gold standard for salads. Hearty sandwiches like chicken salad with bacon if you need to be full all day at work. Prices match the high quality and service. Friendly staff who remember their customers, and express genuine cheerfulness and business acumen. A favorite spot for faculty and staff at nearby LaGuardia, and for many other employees in the Falchi building. Walk inside and it’s one of the first places on the right.

This is the go-to for excellent sandwiches made fresh and made with the utmost care. I have been a customer for about two years and have always been satisfied. The owners and staff are always kind and informative about the menu. You can really tell how much passion they put into providing delicious and healthy lunch options. I highly recommend Good Neighbor and always bring colleagues here to discover this gem!

I have had several different delicious sandwiches and many various scrumptious soups at this speedy, simple, super-friendly lunch spot. I am always in and out in 2 minutes, and there is not a thing I have tried here that is not good. My fave sandwich is the Ham Everything Pickle which has only a handful of ingredients, but each ingredient is TOP quality: the mustard, the cheese, the ham, the delicious roll, the gherkins! BOOM! Super friendly people work there too! I also appreciate their minimal packaging; I don't feel like I'm filling a garbage truck with waste like at so many other takeout places. Finally: I do not like soup, and I never order soup to go, HOWEVER this place has phenomenal soups that rotate daily. Check their Insta to see what's cooking. You in LIC? Go there and grab your lunch!
