Sawnee Mountain is a nature preserve and ridge spanning 5 miles, featuring a visitor center, historical clearing at the summit, and trails for hiking. The top of the mountain offers stunning views from the "Indian seats," but there are longer trails available. These trails can be challenging due to their hilly terrain covered in small rocks, requiring careful footing. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on these hikes.
The fall season provides the perfect backdrop for a hike at Sawnee Mountain, with its stunning autumn scenery and a trail of about 5 miles that forms a rewarding loop. It was a delightful walk with captivating beauty all around.

From the top you can see out to Mt Oglethorpe, 19 miles away!

It's a nice short hike to the top of the mountain where you'll find the "indian seats" and great view. If you park on the opposite side of the road where the new section is there is a longer trail where you can choose the 3 mile or the 5 mile loop. These trails are pretty hilly and covered in small rocks so watch your footing. Lastly, if you're looking for a nice hike with your pets, look elsewhere since dogs are not allowed!

Nearest hiking place near my neighborhood. Trails are fairly long enough for good exercise but don't expect extreme here.

Just had a tree climbing and zipline birthday party here and we couldn't have asked for a better time or better guides to help the kids! Super awesome experience for us and them! Highly recommended and will be back again for another party down the road!

I do lots of bushwack hiking now and AT hiking but this is still fun to do every now and then. Came since I was a child. The top is more open now and there's a observation deck. Many features are now worn though like the mines at the base are almost unrecognizable and they removed the signs for them. The Indian seats themselves are not used or mentioned anymore sadly. Lots of people with bear butts and hammocks with radios.
Slanders Pete — Google review
There are several trails on both sides of Sawnee Mountain. The walk to the Indian Seats is not difficult, and the view is nice on a clear day. This park gets very crowded on the weekends. The long hike on the other side of the trail is about 5 miles in and out. There is no scenic view, but it is a good moderate walk with changing elevations.
I give these trails only three stars because they are full of stumps and rocks. When they cleared these trails, the tree stumps were left around 6-8 inches high, and you have to be very cautious when walking. It is easy to trip over these obstacles if you are not paying attention. Two nasty falls in a 2 year period have kept me from returning. Forsyth County could have done a better job clearing the trails, especially considering this is a park that attracts people with small children and also older folks.
The School Street Playhouse is a theater company housed in an old school building that has been converted into a performing arts theater. The venue features plays, musicals and concerts, providing entertainment for all tastes. The cast of talented performers delivers entertaining renditions of popular productions such as "A Christmas Carol" and "Gypsy". Despite the small stage, the huge cast manages to pack a lot of talent onto it. Visitors can also enjoy dinner at Tam's restaurant located in the cozy downstairs area.
"Gypsy" is very entertaining and not TOO "musically". There is so much talent packed into this huge cast on this tiny stage in this quaint old schoolhouse building!

OMG the cumning community theater has up the game. It's showing The Addams family through the 31st of October the costumes the scenery the dancing and vocals are simply outstanding. It's something that you normally do not expect from a small community theater. For stage size it is as good or better than any professional that I've been at. I would highly recommend it.

School Street Playhouse's recent production of "The Producers," was thoroughly entertaining! I loved seeing this show in such an intimate setting. From the time the curtain opened until it closed, the vocally strong cast exploded with personality and had the audience constantly laughing. And the set and costume changes that were accomplished in such a small space were really impressive.
A special shoutout to SSA's very own Megan Tames for her choreography! Loved the classic Broadway tap.
Kudos to the entire team for their hard work and dedication in bringing this fantastic production to life! Looking forward to the next production by Lisa Sherouse Riley.

More enjoyable than any experience I've had downtown (Fox, Alliance, etc).
Amazing, beautiful pools inside and outside. Make sure you have the schedule it get busy at times. Lily is the BEST instructor ever. My son swam ok but wanted to be a lifeguard. Well within 8 weeks he trained with her and passed his lifeguard text!!!!!!
The pools are clean and warm. They have an adult swim too. We paid $8 to swim per day or a family can go for like 78 a month ( not totally sure)
We go back and like it.
Edit:
Back again, Lily is getting our son ready to test for his Red Cross lifeguard certification. Lily is the best instructor ever!

Love their swimming program and facilities compared to many other like swim Atlanta. Most of the coaches are awesome. We had one bad experience with a coach where the coach instead of encouraging kids, kind of threatened the kids where they fell short of the expectations. Other than that, we love this place
Vijay P — Google review
I am concerned with the young teenager lifeguards who are too busy chatting to actually watch the young kids during swim lessons. Also, last week one brunette yelled across the pool, stormed out and threw a binder down on the bench in front of all adults and children in the 630pm classes. To top it off, even when in the large Olympic pool size Level 6 swim lessons, the “teacher” is too busy flirting with two other random boys instead of teaching. Why is this place overrun by teenagers instead of adults suddenly? It’s very unsafe. This location used to be amazing for swim lessons but has gone downhill over the past 2 months.
Kristen H — Google review
A very few teachers are good and help to improve the skills of children. Rest others simply pass time, discussing, playing with other teachers and kids. Most teachers won't give feedback until the very last day and there won't be slots for the next class by then. Serious learners should prefer elsewhere.

Been a member at this pool for 2 years now and everything has been great. The staff is always helpful and friendly. My kids have fun at the outdoor pool during the summer. The facilities are clean. Highly recommend.
WDE KK79 — Google review
My kids have been taking swimming lessons here for the past 3 years. Each summer it has gotten worse. This current session will be the last.
Swimming lessons at the facility are very disorganized. Management is always looking for teachers to teach/ substitute classes. For one session(8 classes), they had 5 different teachers. How are they supposed to be evaluated/taught properly if they don’t have a consistent instructor?
Most of the instructors are not there to teach, but only watch the kids. They don’t utilize the time to teach the students the correct technique.
Unfortunately, I’m not the only one who has had the same experience in the reviews.

We had a fantastic birthday party here today! The pool is always very clean and the lifeguards are super alert. We had a rain delay near the end of the day, but waited it out and had an entire hour at the outdoor pool almost all to ourselves (maybe 30 people total)!

Always loved taking this kiddos here every summer. Fast forward to summer 2023 and there’s now a rather aggressive lifeguard that screams at every little thing. My toddler is learning rules not murdering people. I’ve never heard a lifeguard scream at children in public setting.

This swim place has a variety of things to enjoy! There are small slides for kids, an assortment of water jets and fountains to cool off, a lazy river current that allows for drifting around the route, various places to swim in the pool, and an enormous water slide! The pool area has lots of seating, some shaded by huge umbrellas and some in the open. There are a couple of pavilions for larger groups too. Also, the restrooms are clean and there is a concession window with a variety of drinks and snacks available. It had lifeguards at strategic areas too. It was definitely an enjoyable place to enjoy the water!!

My kid started a swimming lesson from here from the beginning and I don't want to recommend this school. They're all high school instructors and are not really pay attention to theri teaching class. Instead, they talk to next class instructor friend, life guard friends, and so on. It was always like that from level 1-6. I was not happy with that. Go and find somewhere else. VERY DISAPPOINTED

This place is a disaster. Here for a swim meet and 3 kids passed out on deck yesterday and so far 1 today. They have no clue if it’s bad ventilation, too hot or chlorine poisoning. Can’t believe they haven’t shut it down yet and they’re willing to take such risks with so many swimmers.

Really great aquatic center. Better than most area counties have. 10 lane 50 meter pool, also sets up for 25 yard laps as well.
Sad to see the hatchery has to be fenced, covered, and gated now. You can't see any of the fish unless you're on one of the edges and there's some sunlight coming in from the side. Not sure what happened to make this necessary - but the place is nothing like it used to be. I'm sure it's better for the fish, but it's not a place to bring kids now - you can't see anything.

The ranger (or whatever their title is) was really nice but apparently the pond closed to fishing years ago for water treatment. I went when I was younger, caught my first fish, and wanted to share memories with my daughter and get her her first fish.
Drove back to Lanier instead. Still need to get her a fish
Lakewood 400 Antiques Market is an indoor shopping destination spanning across 75,000 sq. ft. that offers a wide array of vintage and antique items for sale, along with outdoor areas and a restaurant. This monthly market boasts numerous vendors selling various products such as brass items, paintings, home decor, furniture, and rugs at different price points – from expensive to affordable. Admission fee is $3 per person while parking can be a challenge but manageable after some time.
I found the piece de resistance that I have searched forever to find! The doctor's cabinet with 20 drawers was exactly what I have been searching for to complete my studio. And Tom and Judy were the sweetest couple; I discovered the cabinet in their booth. Met the nicest people at Lakewood 400!

This place used to be so much fun! All the items are very highly priced and the vendors accosted you at any glance toward their booth, not a fan of that. Very crowded on Saturday to the point it was hard to move because booths were crammed in so tightly. Basically nowhere to sit and eat, and lots of elderly people sitting (not a personal problem. Just as u pay to even get in I expect more seating). You're not finding anything decent here for less than $25.

One of my favorite places to go and browse! It’s only open every few weekends so make sure to mark your calendar! There’s also a food area where they have really yummy stuff, so you can really spend the whole day treasure hunting for unique finds! This is my recent purchase

My wife and I have been to many, did o mention, MANY..... estate sales, flea markets, and antique malls around the U.S.
The Lakewood 400 Antiques Mall, is among the tops on our list of places to go.
There are so many vendors, both inside and out, with true antiques and many other needed items.
We met and spoke with several vendors on Saturday, 5.20. We spoke to Ken, Glenda, Chris, and more. Wonderful folks to talk to and get to know.
There are a few less-than-positive reviews about this once a month venue.
These people must not have considered that these vendors are bringing a multitude of items to show and sell. Many are running these spaces for others and are unpaid.
It only costs $3 per person, which includes parking.
If you live in the area or are visiting, go spend some time at one of the last nationwide antique malls, you won't be disappointed!!!
Stan Grzesiak — Google review
There is a little something for everyone here. The only thing I didn't like is you have to pay to enter.
All the vendors were friendly

Lakewood Antique Market is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves treasure hunting and history! Located right here in Forsyth County, this market is a paradise for antique enthusiasts, collectors, and even casual shoppers.
The selection is extraordinary, offering everything from vintage furniture and décor to rare collectibles and memorabilia. You could easily spend hours exploring the aisles and still feel like you've only scratched the surface.
What sets this market apart is not just the extensive range of items but also the friendly and knowledgeable vendors. They're always happy to share the story behind each piece, adding another layer of richness to the shopping experience.
Visiting Lakewood Antique Market has become one of our favorite activities, and we always leave with something special—be it a unique artifact or simply the joy of having discovered something new.
Thank you, Lakewood Antique Market, for being a treasure trove in our community. We look forward to many more visits!

I’m not a big fan of wandering for hours looking at other people’s junk but if I have to this is definitely a great location to do it.
They have plenty of parking, a very straightforward way of getting into the venue and a good flow overall. They have plenty of restrooms plus places to eat and get snacks.

Something for everyone here. Great folks and friendly dealers. If you are looking for that one piece or unique handmade or the item your grandparents had, this is the place to visit. The 77k indoor heated/ac space is great regardless of weather, and the outdoor vendors always weather the weather...haha. It is a must place to swing by on market weekend.

There is SO much to see you can't take it all in with one visit. There are some vendors that have wonderful talent on things I've never seen or thought of and antiques of things I have not seen since in my younger years.

This one is ultimate . This place is open only once a month , and we were fortunate enough to visit the august market .. amazingggggf it was . There were so many vendors . So many different things on sale . U name it - brass items , antique items, paintings, home decors, furnitures , rugs, - you get everything here . Some things are expensive .. and some are affordable and cheap. We bought so many things for our home . We really loved it overall. 3$ per person entry .. not bad at all. Parking is a problem, but we got a space after 10-15 mins of drive . Take cash , as most of the vendors don’t accept card. Thumbs up overall…

Very disappointed. It was so packed that you were basically being pushed through the very narrow isles with a throng of people. You couldn’t really see any of the vendors stuff. If you did find something, the price was outrageous. Angry Mamma’s down the street, although smaller, was much better priced and a way better experience. It was also free to get in. We found 6 Culver’s EUC glasses for $84 at Mamma’s.

Went to the Antique Show, August 20, 2022, and was not impressed. Paid $3 per person, above age 12, to enter to shop at a normal antique mall. There was not enough new outdoor merchants for the show. Inside felt like business as usual and mostly, it is not antique or vintage but farmhouse stuff that feels like we are at TJMaxx. It was nice and cool inside, but I find the selection of items at most booth to be particularly bad.

Occasionally they have different products here. It's still not a place to find a bargain. These people value their goods and ask top dollar for them. Haggle with them if you wish. More and more items don't have price tags on them.
Coal Mountain Park is a community park that offers various sports facilities, such as tennis courts and athletic fields. It also features two covered picnic areas and a playground with partial covering. The play area has a tall and fast slide, monkey bars, spider wall, stone walk, vertical climbs that cater to preschoolers' needs. The playground floor is made of poured rubber and surrounded by benches. The park's expansive path accommodates people who enjoy walking along the grounds or using the batting cages or tennis courts.
Our family comes here often and we enjoy this park. We use the covered pavilion at the community building, the playground and covered tables at the playground. The playground is partiality covered, which is great, and it's huge! There's only one slide, but it's tall and fast; a must for my preschooler. There's monkey bars, spider wall, "stone" walk, vertical climbs...lots of variety. The playground floor is poured rubber. There's lots of benches surrounding the play area. Windermere Park is a lovely outdoor space that features a wide open grassy field, a nature trail, and an enclosed area specifically designed for dogs to play. The park also includes a playground and picnic shelter for families to enjoy. The dog park is divided into two sections to accommodate both small and large dogs. During the weekdays, the park tends to be less crowded and very clean with only minor damage caused by playful dogs digging holes.
Nice large green spot near Windermere. Beautiful walk area for kids and adults alike. Plenty of space to play football. Kids can enjoy slides and cycling.

A birthday party at the only pavilion effectively over running the park with countless boys playing soccer on the only walkway. Two of the boys almost knocked my wife down.
Not two minutes later a girl on a bike with training wheels proceeds to run into my wife. I yell at her and her Dad who was 100 feet away yells that she learning to ride. Which I guess he thought it was okay to run into my 72 year old wife who is recuperating and was on a walker 7 months ago. I hope he tells his wife he was no where around when their daughter hit my wife.

This place wasn't very child friendly. There was mud all around. the dog park right next to the playground had people leaving the fenced area with their dogs not leashed. Dogs were all over the entrance area and sidewalk leading to the playground with no leashes. It didn't feel safe. The playground itself was all slides. I think I counted 8 slides, and they were all the same, no variation to them. If you're taking a dog here you'd probably like it.

Great dog park! My dog and I love coming here to play and run around. The dog park is divided for small and large dogs and during the weekdays is usually pretty quite. Very clean and generally well kept, although there are one or two small holes from other dogs that like to dig. The rest of the park is nice as well, it has a playground a little ways away from the dog area, a nice walking trail that goes back into a wooded area, and access to the creek that runs alongside the park! Highly recommend if you are looking for a quieter dog park with less people and furry friends!

The Collection at Forsyth is an elegant shopping destination that boasts beautiful fountains and brick walkways. The mall features a variety of high-end shops, dining options, and movie theaters. It is an ideal location for those looking to spend their money efficiently or indulge in luxury items. However, for the more budget-conscious individual, this shopping center may not appeal as much as thrift stores or outlet malls.
You have too much money just heavy heavy on your mind and even heavier in your pocket if you need to get rid of some of it should be a good place to do it you can probably do so very efficiently and quickly as well. Now if you're more frugal-minded individual like myself no matter your net worth or income you'd still like to keep it as much of it as possible because well started out as yours probably should stay that way unless you just need to burn it, and enjoy a good thrift store or outlet mall this place would probably give you really bad nightmares if you compared them

The Collection at Forsyth - A Community's Heartbeat Wrapped in Retail Charm
Ah, The Collection at Forsyth, the bustling commercial tapestry where shopping bags dance with laughter and memories are woven between storefronts. It's more than a mall; it's a landmark, a social hub, and a place that welcomed us with open arms when we first set foot in this town.
With an ensemble cast of fun shops, restaurants, and even a movie theatre, The Collection offers a blend of entertainment and indulgence that resonates with all age groups. Whether it's the latest fashion trends or a delectable meal, The Collection seems to whisper, "Come in, explore, and make yourself at home."
But like the turning pages of a great novel, change is inevitable. Some shops have shuttered their doors, leaving behind echoes of vibrant days. Yet, it's a testament to The Collection's enduring appeal that it continues to thrive as a popular place to visit. The footprints of what once was mingle with the bright promise of what's to come.
The emergence of new shopping centers nearby adds an intriguing subplot to The Collection's narrative. The anticipation of how it will adapt and evolve lends a dynamic energy to the entire area, much like a beloved character facing a new chapter in a favorite book.
In essence, The Collection at Forsyth is not merely a shopping destination; it's a living, breathing part of the community. Its hallways tell stories, its shops forge connections, and its very existence adds a touch of charm to our lives.
Rating? A solid 4.2 out of 5 stars. While change has left its mark, The Collection at Forsyth continues to be a delightful place to explore, shop, dine, and create memories. Here's to many more chapters in its captivating story!

The Collection is a nice outdoor mall. It has more shops than Halcyon, but it is not a place where people go to congregate like Halcyon. They often have live music there on Friday and Saturday evenings. There usually isn’t much of a crowd for that. I don’t know if that is because there isn’t enough seating or because there are no public accessible restrooms. They do have public restrooms, but they are usually locked when we are there outside of 9-5 weekday working hours.
