Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a large sanctuary that provides shelter for various wildlife in need and helps them recover before releasing them back into their natural habitat. This impressive zoo offers visitors an up-close view of animals that they may not have seen before, such as the snow leopard. The bear exhibits are particularly impressive and allow visitors to get closer to these magnificent creatures than ever before.
Amazing little zoo!! Didn't expect a whole lot going in and boy was I wrong. This intimate little zoo allowed us to see these animals way closer than expected! Went on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. All of the exhibits were great, but the bear exhibits truly stood out. I have never been able to get that close to a bear before. It was truly magnificent. The thing that puts this zoo ahead of all others I have been to is how closely all of the animals can be viewed. Also my first time seeing a snow leopard. Definitely recommend!

We love the new Alpine zoo. Heads up though- the gift shop is closed due to the county COVID order. This may not affect too many people however our kids love to shop the stuffed animals as they’ve done every year.
All of the indoor exhibits are also closed. However, still a great time walking around, watching the animals and occasionally hearing some insights from zookeepers as they feed the animals.

An inexpensive adventure to take in few bears, birds, and a variety of other mountain type animals. Was a bit of a warm day and the animals weren't that active. Recommend going in the morning. Heard some of these animals were recovering. Would have been great to read some background on them. My 2 year old spent half his time playing on the playground equipment 1/2 way through the enclosure. Had a nice souvenir shop. Very nice employees throughout the zoo 👌

Small and cute zoo, we finished in less than an hour. The highlight was the shiny racoon! I also love the QR codes that lead you to the stories of the animals. Although kids there were a bit out of control, pushing people aside so they get a better viewing spot, howling to the wolfs and stuff, while the parents just stood there and took videos. Please respect other people who also paid to enjoy the zoo.

This is a small zoo/animal rehabilitation center but my kids loved it. We came in January and were still able to at least see all of the animals. It's clean and the animals seem well taken care of. There is a nice picnic/play area on the opposite end of the entrance with tables and a small playground. Decently priced especially considering the money supports animal rehab.

Very nice and well maintained small zoo. I remember coming to Big Bear and seeing this place near the ski place many years ago. I think it used to be called a sanctuary before, now labeled a zoo. Everything is new and the animals appeared to be taken care of. Nice place to visit with the kids when in the area.

We enjoyed our visit here. Yes, it's small and yes, the enclosures are way too small for the predator animals like the Mountain Lion & Coyotes. But it's clean and there is a variety of animals to see. The staff were nice. It's a little pricey, but the money goes to a good cause!

I loved seeing the animals!!!! My kids and I saw a lot of animals we've never seen before, up close too was so cool!!! There were a couple animals that didn't have a description or info on them I was disappointed about that but nice Lil zoo with a cute kids play area :) we were there for ì'd say an hour ish? And omg we saw a blonde racoon!!! Lol

I love zoos and this one did not disappoint. It’s a small sanctuary where the animals can live out the rest of their lives in a safe environment. The zoo was very clean and informative. The front lady was also very sweet.

Enjoyable experience for the family. 15 dollars for adults.
Lots of parking in the lot.and free.
This is the new location! Construction on roads can be difficult to find the entrance even if youre right there looking at the zoo.
Needs better signage. Had to drive all the way around.
Costs about 15 for adult tickets.
You can see bears, ravens owls foxes wolves coyotes, raccoons, deer, eagle hawk snow leopard.
No shade in here only by restrooms. Bring sunscreen and water. No water provided.
Children have a small playground inside.
Gift shop available.
Small zoo. I'd say you can see all the animals in 30 to 1hr taking your time.
But its cool to see 👀 ravens tear apart mice during feeding time.

Nice little zoo in Big bear! It will be fun for kids and usually takes less than an hour to walk around! There are many animals and birds to see but keep in mind that they will be in the shadows if it’s too hot when you visit!

Great place to take the kids, small but very nice Zoo with bears, birds, deer, and foxes. Small playground is an added bonus. I suggest going early in the summer months as it is in the sun. Small gift shop with very reasonable prices. I look forward to going again.

We had a blast with our two year old. It’s a small zoo nestled in the mountains and the views are GORGEOUS. It’s set up so that even toddlers can have a great view into every enclosure and there were a couple of play places. This zoo provides the opportunity to get the closest we’ve been to bears before. Very cool.
Jake Newsome — Google review
I've been to many zoos small and large and this one had the saddest looking animals, with the smallest and most barren enclosures. The bears seem to be the star attraction and they're kept in dirt and concrete with a few trees and a water feature. The four owls in a single enclosure with almost no shade was depressing as well. The only animal remotely happy was the fat squirrel. Again I've been to smaller zoos before, but the animals had much more shade/privacy, usually the great frustration with zoos is that the animals are tucked away and hard to see, not here though, completely exposed.

Alex was such a friendly and welcoming staff member that provided incredible fun facts about each of their animals. Definitely a great place to visit any time you're in the area.

It was a very nice day. It is a very small zoo. It was a beautiful day cool weather and it felt like Winter. I must say the animals were very sluggish. It wasn’t very expensive free parking and $11 dollars for seniors.

Nice zoo with a nice path to see all the rescued wildlife animals. There were so many animals, owls, eagles, raccoons, bears, foxes, coyotes. Very clean a lot of traffic but easy to maneuver around. Gift shop was way to busy to buy anything. I will be back.

The staff was really nice, well maintained.Clean restrooms. Small snack shack. Free parking. They have QR codes that you can scan and read the history of the animals. We were there for about 1.5-2hrs.

Only been here once (March 2024) and loved it. It's not a giant zoo but you see a lot of animals and the playground for children was in great condition, my kids loved it. My favorite was the birds, especially the Golden Eagles!

The staff was really nice and the place was well maintained. I noticed all the animals were well maintained and well taken care of. My husband and I really enjoyed our time at the zoo and also learned a couple of things about each animal(QR you can scan) which we found really cool
If you're an avid hiker looking for a challenge, Castle Rock Trail is the perfect choice. Located off Big Bear Boulevard, this trail offers 500 feet of elevation gain and steep sections that will put your skills to the test. The 2.8-mile round trip features plenty of shade and rock formations for resting along the way. While it's a moderate hike overall, be prepared for a continuous uphill climb with some tricky spots.
Fantastic trek!
Steep incline; scrambling rocks; patches of snow; great views;
What more could you want?
Ankit Bhawsar — Google review
Very nice trail, a lot of shade and rock for taking a break, tricky some times but follow the big piles of rock and you won't get off the trail, is moderate hiking as soon as you start you go up hill none stop , at the end you have to climb the big rock to get on top of the castle. Round trip is 2,8 miles.
We really enjoy this trail !!! Amazing views, beautiful place but I do not recommend it for dogs because it has very rocky areas that can hurt them!

Great trail up to the PCT. Nice views of the lake, not too steep and well maintained trail.
Sascha Calkins — Google review
Very Nice Trail, Easy to Hike and it leads to the PCT just below Bertha Peak Elevation 8200 ft. Parked at Cougar Crest Trailhead, Elevation 6200 ft, and started the hike up the mountain. Moderate Fairly Easy hike with lots of views of the Lake, many interesting Juniper and Pine trees, wild flowers and several benches to stop and rest along the way. Overall the trail was well maintained, well marked and easy to follow. We met several through hikers on the PCT as well as local hikers out for a day in Nature. So if you're thinking about hiking this trail give it a try it's not as difficult as described in the Trail Guide.
The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is an all-year-round entertainment center, featuring winter bobsled tracks and summer water slides. The facility can be accessed via a chairlift and offers a range of activities for families to enjoy, including skiing, snow tubing, and building snowmen. It's located just a couple of hours away from Los Angeles and boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding area. If you're traveling with children, they'll love the experience too!
I had a great time at Big bear Lake with my family..! Just a couple of hours away from Los Angeles, it’s a wonderful place to spend a day or weekend, skiing, snow tubing, building a snowman or just enjoying the beautiful views. If you go with kids, it’s going to be more fun and they’re gonna love it for sure..! We booked a condo through Airbnb and that was so beautiful too..! I also highly recommend you to visit the Big bear Lake Village..! It was nice walking around the lake and getting pizza from the village..!

Great place to do a variety of things with the family. From the slides, the coaster, water slides, zipline, video games, and food court. Be aware, that if you tried to do everything in a day, you may spend more here than you would at Disneyland. But, if you're looking for some fun in the mountains, this is a great stop.
We went on a Sunday, I'm sure Saturday's are much busier.
There isn't any entry fee, you pay for each individual ride you decide to participate in. So it's nice in that aspect especially if you're on a budget or just want to do a quick ride on one thing and move on.
Martin T — Google review
Awesome place. At the time it is $9 per slide and 5 slides for $40 I think (forgot). You have to sign a waiver just in case you fly out so expect to add maybe 10 more minutes before you can even slide. After that you take the lift to the top and choose your cart to go down with. They look worn but it didn't matter when I used mine. At the top, you can choose from 2 lanes. One is meant for slower sliders but it's the same parallel track. They instruct you how to use the brakes and you're off. That simple. Just as a note, it can pick up speed quick so careful not to fly out the track and have fun!
I didn't record going down but I'll update it next time I go for sure.
Worth it and you can gain some speed if you really want to.

Hours of entertainment with so many different options here. It's not cheap, but worth trying. They really stepped up there. Summertime, non-snow activities. While the Alpine slide is still a blast, the new mineshaft coaster ($20) is fast, exhilarating and surprisingly long. Go karts and other attractions add to the fun.
Shawn Gillis — Google review
Wanted to go here on our visit to Big Bear because of all the great attractions and great reviews. It was snowing and the only attraction open was tubing. But that is the one thing we wanted to do as we didn't go skiing or anything. It was so much fun! The hill was just the right size and was exciting. I went about 4 times! The kids loved it! The price was about $10 more then should be, but I'm cool with it. Will have to come during the summer next to experience the other attractions!!
Jennifer Nillaga — Google review
Very fun. It's one of the best things to in Big Bear. However the prices are very steep. Like Seriously, 12$ for a short Zipline Like experience and the coaster was also highly priced. Though it was an enjoyable experience that I think you should go if you can afford, just keep in mind that if you do most of the activities with a family it can get very pricey.
Nicolas Macho — Google review
One of the very few places to go snow tubing during the winter when there's no snow, thanks to their snow machines. Came here for the snow tubing. Everyone loved it.
It gets busy pretty early. By noon, the parking lot was full. Entrance for tubing was $45 a person. It includes tubes and lift. Hanging out in the food area and outside the play area is free.
They do have other types of rides. Went in the Coaster and it was amazingly fun, way better than a ride at an amusement park.
There wasn't much seating in the eating area for how busy it got. But the food was a decent price and good for a small snack bar.
It was well worth the time and money to get away from the city. The drive was beautiful, with lots of trees and a huge lake. You could also spend part of the day at the city center.
I would recommend this place, especially if you have kids. They seem to love the snow.
Willem Van Der Rest — Google review
This place is pretty awesome! I would advise getting there early before they open if you visit on a holiday weekend like I did. The parking lot was horribly congested.
The coaster and luge are pretty fun. The coaster is expensive for one ride — $20.
The lines move slightly faster than you’d think, but they really should make it easier to sign the waiver. It holds up the lines.
Otherwise, there are also some other attractions that I didn’t bother with. But, it’s worth a stop.
Mel M — Google review
This place is an absolute blast! In my honest opinion, the mine shaft coaster is a must if you visit Big Bear Lake in the warmer months. It gets a little pricey with paying separately for the coaster, alpine slide, go karts- but it's worth it.
Nicholas McLaughlin — Google review
Overpriced and overrated. $20 for one ride on the roller coaster. $9 per go cart ride. $9 per slide down the hill. $9 per trip for snow tubing. You will spend as much as you would at Disneyland. No good food options. One particular staff member made me so mad, I was almost willing to catch an assault charge but there was no snow this Thanksgiving week so I had no choice but to let my kids play all day there.
Jimmy Pham — Google review
This was such a great place to spend the day with the family. They have great snow tubing and other rides also. There is a roller coaster, zip line, bumper cars, and slide long slide to go down on a little sled. There is a place to order food and drinks and a restroom inside. Everything is a separate price and the lines do get long in the early afternoon. Go early to beat the crowds.
Camille Rios — Google review
We visited on New Year's Day and waited 45 minutes to sign the waivers. Then we went and bought tickets which was a quick line. Only thing is you buy the day pass for almost $50 and then the chair lift is an add on, as is the rollercoaster. So it is not an all inclusive ticket. It could get very pricey with all of those combined. The arcade is lacking with approximately only 10 games, several of which were broken. The inside is small and basic, some picnic tables outside. But they sell churros! Yum! (I think $4 each).
All in all it felt like a bit of a rip off and the long wait did not help. But hopefully it is shorter and quicker on a non holiday. The kids loved the tubing and chair lift to the sledding tube, however, so all was not lost!
Grace Beckett — Google review
We had so much fun! The activities were a little pricey but definitely worth it. We spent one afternoon tubing and the next day we rode the eagle and the alpine coaster and all of the activities were a blast!
Sign your waivers before getting in line or they will not let you participate. We got a cabin within walking distance so we didn't have to hassle with parking which seemed pretty full on weekends.
Cara — Google review
I'm giving them a three because it is frustrating that you have to go to 3 different places to buy tickets. They should have one designated area to buy tickets for all the events. It feels like there are three separate owners working on one location. From a business standpoint, they would be able to make more revenue by creating package deals if there was oly one area to buy tickets.
Ron Quintana — Google review
It's a little pricy for what you get but the kids love it, tubing, alpine slide, some old video games, snack bar, DON'T FORGET TO SIGN YOUR WAIVERS before getting in line for the rides
C Armistead — Google review
I liked the atmosphere and the games, but the tiring thing is when you waiting to take a line to get a ticket for ride and when you take the line for waiver, is very long, it takes an hour and more , and in the end you will play one game a day, and at 4 pm they close . we played in the snow for one hour for three persons . It cost $140.games are expensive there.
The Alpine Pedal Path Trail 1E50 is a well-maintained, paved trail suitable for biking, walking, skating and wheelchair access. It stretches for about 2.5 miles and presents some gentle inclines that provide a good workout. The path affords excellent views of the lake with several benches available along the way where visitors can rest. It provides easy access to Serrano Campground and has some shaded spots as well as sunny areas.
Beautiful lake view! You can see different kinds of birds. Beach is good for walking alone. Saw someone fishing there and got quite a few.

I absolutely loved and enjoyed walking here with my dog. I walked it in the rain and when it was sunny out. I would say walking through it in the rain was so peaceful and magical. The trail is nicely paved and takes you through a nice forest. 10/10 would come back here, heck I would drive up to big bear just to do this trail. My dog had a wonderful time! There’s also some very pretty nature to look at. Stop reading my review and just get out there!!! Gooooo!!

3 miles out and 3 miles back- a breeze on electric bikes. The path is paved and winds around next to and near the lake. There are spots when you can access the lake to pull off for a break and catch the scenery. Where we stopped was quiet with people fishing the shoreline. It appears a pathway into town is underway. The fall color changes were so pretty. Definitely recommend for a quick jaunt.

Very beautiful place out right now during end of December/beginning of January. Bring your best hiking winter boots or winter trail shoes.
This paved trail is pretty easy when it's dry I assume. I ran with packed snow and ice on it so it was a bit difficult but doable. There's parking along side the street between the bridge and cabins.
As a reminder, be respectful to the fishers and pick up your own trash. So far from what I've seem everyone has done a great of that, keep it up.

This is a very nice paved walking trail. It's about 2.5 miles long with some fairly minor ups and downs giving you a nice workout. A lot of people ride their bikes on this path, which it was designed for. The views of the lake are great. There are benches you can sit and rest at at some locations. There is access from the path to Serrano Campground. Most of the path is in the sun, but there are some shaded areas. It is far enough from the highway to where you shouldn't have to worry about your kids running out into traffic.

The Big Bear Discovery Center is a substantial facility that showcases exhibitions centered around nature, eco-tours, an amphitheater, and maps of the trails in the area. Visitors can register for tours of Big Bear Lake via canoe or kayak as well as guided trips led by naturalists to explore the Baldwin Lake Ecological Reserve. Unfortunately, the exhibits at the Discovery Center are closed temporarily due to remodeling, but outside activities such as nature walks and talks are still offered periodically by park rangers or volunteers.
This center was very informative and has interactive activities for kids to learn. The restroom is clean, but there are no trash cans to throw away. There is a gift shop if interested, I got a keychain.

Unfortunately the Discovery Center exhibits are closed for remodeling now, so there wasn't anything to see. We walked the Alpine Trail to get here and it was a nice easy walk. There were rangers/volunteers setting up outside, and they're still having nature talks/walks periodically outside the building. The bathrooms were EXTREMELY clean. Big Bear Discovery center is under renovation at moment in month of March 2022 but still you can visit and ask for map or any other help. There is near by trail which is very good Short trail. Also we spent some time and had our lunch as they have plenty of picnic tables available. Parking lot is available and there was plenty of parking available when we visited March 2022.
A beautiful place for a flat stroll through the trees. The first gate off of the main road is closed at this time of the season. We parked just outside and walked about 0.5 mile through the tall trees to get to the Bluff Lake Reserve sign. The single track trail to the right of the sign led through a wide open meadow with the lake on the left side.

This is my favorite place in the whole world. It is beautiful, peaceful, and healing to the soul, mind, and body. There are original old cabins, from the late 1800's, and the foundation to the original stage coach line is still intact. I'd love to have my wedding here someday!
The Pineknot Trail is a scenic path surrounded by pine trees and wildflowers, culminating in breathtaking views of the lake and forest. The trail is particularly stunning during autumn when the leaves display a brilliant array of colors. While moderately challenging, the hike to Peak View Point is certainly worth it for its splendid vistas. It's recommended to arrive early to avoid crowds, and enjoy a peaceful stroll through nature.
There a $5 day pass you can get from a kiosk near the parking lot. We went last week and the snow wasn't overwhelming. The trail is behind the picnic area (you'll see another sign) and the trail will split into 2. We only went in about a mile before turning back due to the snow. Pleasant hike. Will return to complete the full hike when theirs less snow!

Nice, moderate hiking trail. Great views and varied trail experience. Trail has multiple elevation changes and could possibly be challenging for the inexperienced, but most can make it to the top if you have time. Good amount of parking but will fill up quick on busy days and you need a forestry pass ($5 from local bike shop).

Attempted this hike in the snow. Krampons are a must right now. Gorgeous views but hard to find trail if not using All Trails to help guide you back to path. We were definitely not on "actual" trail most of the time, but followed foot prints up the mountain instead. Sank into the snow quite a bit, causing us to laugh. It was a good day. Built a snowman too!

Moderate hike but beautiful and worth the hike to the Peak View Point. Gotta be there early, it does get busy during the day. It's nice early in the morning to get a good parking spot and not bump into people so often.

It was a great trail with good views of the lake once you get higher up. Trail is difficult to distinguish at a few points but overall a good, little challenging hike. Trail head is in a picnic area on mill creek road.

This is a very scenic, moderate trail that truly feels like you're inside the forest. Pineknot trail meets & intersects with a few others like Cabin 89 and so on. Every once in a while there are signs telling you which trail you are at. In other areas there are logs laid down with blue markings as well to lead you back.
I started at the Aspen Glen picnic area (that's where Google Maps took me). We parked alongside the street. If you park inside the parking lot-- you need to buy a pass. There's lots of beautiful views & squirrels. Very big squirrels. There's a lot of trees so lots of shade during midday. The trail also feels a lot more leveled and so when you're going up or down it doesn't feel necessarily steep. There are bathrooms & tables at the picnic area.
I posted on this earlier. This peak has a lookout tower at the top. The roads are washed out due to the rains. They are not drivable even with the best off road equipment. With that you're in for a 9 mile round trip hike up to 8500 ft. The views are amazing. The giant pines and granite boulders are beautiful. Like any hike there are challenges. Be ready. Bring plenty of water and drink it. Bring snacks, wear layers of clothing, wear decent footwear or you could be miserable. Know that late fall to early spring there could be snow. It is also windy on the peak and it can be icy on the rocks and stairs. In the summer it can be warm. Regardless just prepare and enjoy the awesome views.

Easy drive up, if the gate is open. Be careful as part of the trail is a shelf. It's a short hike to the top but the views are worth it. The elevation at Butler Peak is 8,537 feet. It's a great place to bring your handheld amateur radio.

Several people say this is an easy drive. It is if you have a vehicle with clearance. I would also recommend 4 wheel drive. Not a trail for a car or a SUV without clearance unless you want to leave some parts on the road. Think safety for you and the people around you.
The part you need to hike is cake. A couple of switch backs and 2 flights of stairs. As said in many reviews... the view is ridiculous. Well worth the trip if you have the proper vehicle, food and water. Pack it in... Pack it out.

Intense hike and drive up to the peak, but it's definitely worth it. 360° view of...well, everything! The people we spoke to said that on a clear day, you can see Catalina Island, which is over 100 miles away! Pack lots of water, a camera, and maybe a jacket depending on the time of year. Like I said, it's worth the trek!

We didn't really understand the concept at first. I thought it was an improved area but it was a place to park and walk without a brochure or map. If there was one available we missed it due to poor wayfinding.
THAT SAID: it was wonderful as an unhyped trail and place to wander. We parked on the BBCity side and walked the bridge over. The lake is really low right now so the shoreline was ok, but still full of fresh air and lots of birds! We saw a large flock of American White Pelicans and got a photo of one toying with a fish it had in it's pouch! Also saw coots and even a loon. Walked the shoreline on the non town side with all the fallen giant cedars. They made great benches.
At some point we veered away from the lake into the forested area. Gorgeous shots of a Male Western Mountain Bluebird, a pair of Orioles I think, woodpeckers heard, not seen, nuthatches and a lot more.
Highly recommended, just don't look for a tour.

Quiet beach to walk and watch water fowl and birds. Nice lake and mountain views.

This is an easy walk. We just wanted a place where we could walk for an hour or so and this was it.
It's sad the lake is so low. Also when we were there, Sept of 2022, the boardwalk was closed because of some upgrading or repairs.

Being here with the blizzard happening was beautiful. Kids can slide down the small hills there with the snow. The lake was pretty big and still full of animals, even with a blizzard. Definitely worth it.

Great view.
And lost of fresh air !!!!

Marsh is dry and it began to pour just as we started down the trail, but there is a gazebo at the trailhead so we were able to wait it out.

Simply great views of the lake, the local plant life, and you're lucky you'll see ducks, coyotes, and other birds

Beautiful views! Came here mid March and even with the water level being fairly low there was lots of birds around doing their thing and a whole bunch of families having fun and sledding and walking around the boardwalk, parking is on the street and is a bit limited so be careful!
This is also where the boardwalk starts which takes you around part of the lake, be careful when it has snow on it though and is it slippery and could be a fall hazard
Sunset is probly the best time to come for how pretty it was.

Beautiful scenery, fresh air, quiet, peaceful, with clean public bathrooms nearby, and benches to sit in by the lake. If your attentive enough, you can get a glimpse of some of the fish jumping out of the water. Great place to go for a nice walk.

Great small hike in the big bear area.
Plenty of parking on one side of the trail head.
Offers good views of the lake from up close on an easy evening hike.
Would check out if you are in town!

We love to walk along the boardwalk whenever we're in town. When there it's easy to forget you're right off the main road. It's serene when it's not busy and when there are a lot of people strolling, they're friendly. Can be great for people watching... dogs too. It's not a large area but worth the stop.

Beautiful! Last year's storms brought much desired water to the usually dried marsh area. I haven't seen water on this side of the lake in years... Enjoy it!!!!

Beautiful place to visit. Currently the water level is high. The wood bridge is a very pleasant walk. I highly recommend coming here at anytime to visit.
Ski Beach Park is a 16.25-acre recreational area located on the shores of Big Bear Lake, which offers an array of sporting activities such as basketball and baseball fields. Children can enjoy the playground while picnicking in designated areas with tables. The park also includes a well-maintained dog park that features handicap parking spaces and ramps at the entrance to welcome visitors.
On my visit to big bear we visited this park to play some tennis. Last time we were here there were just tennis courts but now one of the courts has been converted to a pickleball court. The balls bounce a lot because of the altitude and it’s fun to get used to playing up there.

There is a little aluminum pier at the north west side of the park that looks over the lake and likely gives a beautiful sunset view in the evening. Many parents filtered through while my kid played. All of us tiring the kids out so they sleep well... (😅)

Clean park. Plenty of parking spaces, wide and open. Clean environment and has a restrooms. Also a small walking dock.
Quiet and relaxing during the day with a nice view looking towards the lake

This is a very nice park next to the lake with lots of parking and activities. Ballpark and many kids play areas as well as a cool dog park. The parking areas have several handicap parking spaces and ramps at the entrance to the welcome office. The park was very clean and the maintenance staff were busy making sure everything was neat and safe. Highly recommended.

Ski Beach Park is a cool little grassy park with access to the lake. There are only dirt paths amidst stones to get access to the shoreline, which is narrow with several shady spots tucked back beside trees. Small birds and ducks in the area. A dock gives a great panoramic view of the lake. Bring bathing suits for a cool dip!

This is a beautiful park with beach front access.
There are restrooms and plenty of parking in the parking lot Joined to the park. The park has a lush green lawn for picnics and a swing/ slide play area for kids. There are lots of birds flying around and at the end of the path near the rocks you will find a bunch of playful squirrels

Lots of bird wildlife, very clean but no restrooms. Good place for good pictures and to relax with the family. American grey stork can be seen hanging out by the rocks.

ANOTHER GREAT PLACE FOR NATURE PHOTOGRAPHS AND JUST RELAXING AND LETTING ALL WORRIES AND STRESS GO AWAY. THE ONLY REASON I DIDNT GIVE IT 5 STARS IS DUE TO WHAT MAN HAS DONE TO EARTH. ITS VERY OBVIOUS AND CLEAR NATURE IS BEING AFFECTED BY OUR FORMS OF FUEL, AND I KNOW THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SUBJECT, WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO GO SOLAR NOW SO LETS DUE IT FOR OUR PLANET AND OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. SO AGAIN THIS IS A 5 STAR LOCATION BUT WITH ONE STAR STOLEN BY POLLUTION AND SMOG. 🏭😞

July 2023-
Our first time in Big Bear, I did a Google search to find a good place to take my 4 year old to swim in the lake with a beach area. After reading about this place, saying it was great for kids, there’s a beach, swimming, lifeguard on duty, water toys, and a floating dock, I thought it would be perfect.
This information is completely out of date. There’s a small play ground overlooking the lake, which is nice, however, there’s no beach or swimming area. Just a big rocky shore. Definitely no lifeguard or water toys anywhere to be seen… and the floating dock? A desolate looking dock, half sinking and surrounded by algae.
Skip this place if you’re looking for a fun place to swim or a beach area.

Nice park with playground and tables. Nice area to walk along the lake. Nice views. Very peaceful.
Baldwin Lake Ecological Preserve is a beautiful spot to see the many faces of California. There are beautiful trees and open meadows and fields to explore. The road like path was running with water from the snowmelt, so bring boots for muddy gravel if its wet. It was a dog friendly trail so long as you pick up dog waste and keep them on a leash! The hike was an easy to moderate meander through beautiful trees and rocky slopes with panoramic views! Totally worth it. There are restrooms at the trailhead but they were locked on Wednesday mid afternoon when I was there. Not sure if they always are or not. The trailhead has a dirt parking lot and easy road access.

We went on a guided hike and it was really an incredible experience learning about local plants! I highly recommend this hiking area for people with young kids. It's a very easy hike, mostly flat. You can see very rare plants and a very unique part of the mountain!

Wonderful, knowledgeable volunteer guides. Highly recommend the Saturday wildflower walks to go off trail and learn about the pebble plains and numerous species of wildflowers and plants.

First impression, unkept. The nature trail is unbalanced at the start and then about 1/4 of the way there's a fork in the road and we took the left trail because it's rocky once you get a little up there. Plenty of pine trees to see. Lots of while vegetation.
Only flowers you see is at the beginning is near the, what it use to be an office building that looked abandoned.
Make sure you use the bathroom before going there. There is one but locked. Bring water keep hydrated.

Great little pit stop on the way out of Big Bear. I stopped because the weather on the mountain tops made for some pretty spectacular views. There's picnic tables: perfect for a quick sack lunch or snack with good ol mother nature. Well maintained and in such a beautiful spot. Would like to visit when the center is open someday.

Amazing hikes, and gorgeous spring blooms during the super bloom season
I LOVE this place! If you want to come and worship with people who are in unity and experiencing greater revelation of Jesus, who HE is and the identity that we have in Him... this is it! A real family oriented, cozy and intimate atmosphere too.

A great Christian church to visit while in Big Bear! All are welcome and it is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I love the down to earth and encouraging messages by Pastor John Dunn. The praise and worship is excellent with a great contemporary sound that ushers you into the healing presence of God. People are prayed for and touched by God at every service.Kid's church is creative and fun. And....free donuts and coffee are served every week!!! Love this church!

Amazing and loving church family. Great place to go to get refreshed and excited about the things of God.
I've lived in Big Bear City for almost two years so I believe I have very good perspective on the first impressions of the places here. Good and bad. However, the market has giving my wife and I a moderately safe place to socialize that is outside. We have new born so we're extra careful. The vendors and fellow guests are just wonderful. We feel welcome by everyone there. We have friends and now have our own booth. Well, my wife does and I work for her. Advice was volunteered from our fellow vendors and we got settled in nicely. 5 out of 5. I don't care about parking. Walking is good for you.

Wyatt’s at the convention center during summer months is a gorgeous outdoor music venue under a canopy of mature trees. Rustic ho-down feel. We pickup here all the time and have never heard anything but positive reviews from our clients.

I really enjoy coming out here for the events. The Oktoberfest and Maifest are the times that I come and I always have a great time. I love the trees that are just around the outside in the area where you can chill. They usually have cornhole and a bunch of vendors with stuff they made. There were bull rides and food stands. There's always a band, and whenever I go, there's always dancing and traditional dancers. The best part is the assortment of beer, the good food, and the great fun with friends.

Great location and fun events. Beer prices are pricey, however they have a large selection.

My family and I started attending the Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest several years ago. This event is a Fall tradition with a building built to look like a tent with authentic German bands, food, deserts and of course many incredible imported beer selections like Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier and Hofbräu München. FIRST I have to compliment Kasandra, manager of the Oktoberfest. We had several interactions with her during the 2022 Oktoberfest after attending multiple times throughout September-October. She is kind, gracious and an incredible host!
My mother was an ethnic German and incredible chef. You can taste and see the attention to detail in the Bavarian recipes and their quality dishes at Oktoberfest. This isn't "German fair food" like I have had at other venues, but top quality, authentic Bavarian food. Outside there are other venders for a variety of other fast and ethnic foods. The bar tenders are also awesome and the venue allows bringing your own Steins to fill (and refill). Oktoberfest also has quality gifts such as Steins and German themed gifts in their gift shop.
Short of visiting Munich or an entire city Oktoberfest like Leavenworth, Washington, Cincinnati, Ohio or Helen, Georgia, Big Bear Lake offers a wonderful experience with great hospitality in an incredibly scenic city.
