The International Waterlily Collection boasts an impressive array of waterlily hybrids and traditional favorites. The garden presents a beautiful display with a creek running through it, although litter near the concrete bridge can be a disappointment. While parking can also be an issue, visitors will appreciate the opportunity to explore and admire the collection's many lilies and rose garden. However, some ponds may be empty during certain parts of the year which could detract from the experience for some individuals looking for more flowers to see.
Amazing! These lily pads were so awesome and there are many species of them there! Beautiful display, theres a creek that runs through this park and as someone who loves to adventure I took a stroll with my boyfriend through but the further you go and cross a concrete bridge is is super littered. Other than that it was awesome!

Free walking tour of lilies. Worth the time and an easy walk. If you even only have 15 minutes it’s worth it. We spent about 30 minutes and saw and learned much about the Lily plant. Great place for photographers as the lily blooms are nice.

Fort Concho Historic Site is a significant military museum that showcases exhibits and restored barracks. The establishment was once a pioneer defense post and served as the former home to the renowned Buffalo Soldiers. Visitors should not miss the chance to see the adorable mules at the barns located at the back of Fort Concho. Despite unseasonably cold weather, visitors can witness exceptional restoration efforts and care towards maintaining this historic site.
The museum is well maintained with interesting exhibits. Definitely worth a tour if you want to learn more history of Texas.

Very interesting experience. These folks have taken care in many details to provide an authentic experience of what life in this 19th century Fort could have been like. The grounds are original and in fantastic condition. The buildings have been meticulously restored to an amazing condition. Excellent work and effort on restoration of Army equipment including cannon and livery. There is a fantastic restoration of an Infirmary and Officer's quarters. There is an interesting exhibition of antique telephone, and telegraph with some very fine antique phones on display. The entrance fee was 3$ and well worth the time to visit. Super impressed by the efforts involved here.

My main complaint was the lodging needed a better cleaning. Linens were clean but all surfaces including the kitchen were dusty. Coffee pots both were not cleaned from last guests. Coffee grounds in the filters were molding. Nasty. Bathrooms were clean. They need to dust off that beautiful antique furniture. We did enjoy our stay. Friendly staff at visitors center

It wasn't as exciting as the hype tried to make it out to be, but that being said it is well taken care of, well laid out and tons of old building to see. We also went to their Christmas at Fort Concho and got to see Santa Clause and Nativities put on by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was nice to see that fort Concho remembered to put Christ in Christmas.

Don’t miss visiting the mules!! Absolutely amazing. Fort Concho is a historical treasure in the heart of San Angelo. Totally worth a visit. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. Be sure and visit the mule barns. Yep actual mules… They are adorable. It’s at the very back of the fort- and worth the walk! It was unseasonably cold and windy when we were there. Brrrr! And out there there’s nothing to stop the wind. It’s interesting to have visited so many other frontier forts… They all have a lot in common. The restoration and care at Fort Concho is remarkable.
Michael Ramsey — Google review
Fort Concho was home to The Buffalo Soldiers, all Black Army regiments who fought valiantly to expand the American West and for The Promise of opportunity, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for ALL.
They earned their names from the Native communities they fought against who grew to respect them for their strength and bravery in battle. The Natives said these men reminded them of their cherished buffalo because of the similar matted texture of the soldiers' human hair to that of the buffalo's whooly coat.
Units of all four Buffalo Soldier regiments served at Fort Concho from 1869-1885. The most famous was the famed 10th Cavalry, who had its headquarters at the fort from 1875-1882. Over Fort Concho’s twenty-two years of operation, the Buffalo Soldiers comprised more than HALF of the post’s total enlisted population.
Sadly, this is still a history that is unknown by the average Texan -- or American for that matter -- but is lauded with great pride in the African American community and beyond. Buffalo Soldiers, we salute you and thank you for your unheralded service and contribution to this great nation!
Beautiful visitor center with lots of shade, water, and local art. Easy to see why it’s the #1 place to visit on any San Angelo list.

What a beautiful place to see. We visited the Concho River Walk and it was immaculately landscaped. Beautiful stones, lush green grass, waterfalls, geese and art installations. Plenty of open spaces to relax, unwind or just think. It's the type of place for a small group of friends or to be by yourself. We went for a brief walk as it was our last stop before heading back home. But the time spent there will be peacefully everlasting.

Situated right in the center of town on Hwy 87 on the Concho River. Plenty of parking. More than meets the eye. Beautiful landscaping behind building leads down to the river and a river walk that leads to art installations, pedestrian bridges and a large playground across the river. Great place for pictures and exploration for all ages. Beautiful at Christmas with light displays. Worth the visit!

Miss Hattie's Bordello Museum, located in a 19th-century building, showcases furniture and artifacts from the bordello that once occupied the space. The museum offers guided tours for a fee of $6 per person; children under 11 can enter for free. So much fun and an awesome experience as you learn about part of the history of San Angelo
It’s really good for a morning, afternoon, or evening walk and it’s not overly commercialized like many city’s river walks. There’s only a couple of restaurants or bars located on the main stretch. Instead, it connects you to a couple of park areas with picnic tables, nice walkways, and even some outdoor art exhibits.
Christmas time is really awesome, the city sets up a lot of light displays along the banks of the river. You can drive along the street and check it out, or you can walk along the sidewalks to view it at your own pace. I recommend walking it instead of driving it. The drive times can really back up and take a while to get through.

For some scenic exercising around town, the Concho River Walk is the place to do a little bit of walking, jogging, or even hiking. It's a few minutes walking distance from the hotel I stayed at on business, the Econo Lodge San Angelo, which just re-opened under a new management and renovations. I took the hotel's complimentary hot breakfast and coffee to go with me on the river walk and enjoyed a nice scenic breakfast that morning.

San Angelo State Park is a pleasant destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering an extensive network of trails spanning 50 miles that are suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Additionally, the park offers hunting programs. The winter months afford visitors with ample opportunities to enjoy the wildlife and birds in a tranquil environment with minimal crowds. The well-maintained bird blind provides a fantastic vantage point for observing birds.
We stayed here right after Christmas through New Year's. This is a really nice park. Not crowded at all because it was winter and mostly nice enough for hiking and being outside. There was a lot of wildlife and birds to see. And the bird blind was very well maintained. The only really cold day was the last day; the temperature dropped drastically overnight. We stayed in our RV and friends stayed in one of the cabins. The cabins were pretty nice, just really basic with no bathroom. Another place I'd love to visit again during another season.

I’m only giving 4 stars because the lake is so low. I know this has nothing to do with the staff or parks system.
We didn’t stay the night but went to check it out for a future trip, because we were in the area.
They had a prescribed fire so many trees are burned. The staff we met were VERY helpful and nice. The store is small but has souvenirs and information. The sites are spaced nicely and the park was very quiet. There are beautiful views and even places to camp with horses. Tons of wildlife to view too! We are planning another trip and will update after.

What a beautiful state park, San Angelo State Park in Texas. I wish it wasn’t cloudy. Too bad we are only here one night. Spacious large sites, and just a few minutes from downtown San Angelo. They have hiking paths, picnic areas, a bison herd and a long horn herd.
Janice Gordon — Google review
The correct entrance took awhile to find, and the gate was difficult to open once there. (Someone who has weak hands/arthritis might find this to be a challenge.) Aside from that, the park is beautiful and much larger than anticipated. There’s cactus, so be cautious when hiking. Restrooms are outdated, but were clean. From the primitive sites, the highway sounds can be heard faintly. Lack of lighting allows for awesome stargazing.

Even though the lake is not full it was a nice place to get away at. The stars are so pretty at night, it's super quiet. The park is also very clean. Picnic areas have cement tables and chairs, seems like the park keeps up with it. There is a small park for kids to play at. The staff was very helpful and checked in on us on our way to the site. Very nice place for a quick getaway.

Review is for Bald Eagle Campground only. Hopefully TX has some budget planning going for this place as it could use a little TLC on the grounds and the bathhouse. There was signage for volunteers...including for a Camphost to get a full hookup site for 24 hours a weeks effort (although the Camphost thing was TX wide).
A pressure washer, a few new boards here and there and a coat of paint would do wonders for the inside of the bathhouses, a weed wacker and a pair of pruning shears would do wonders for the grounds.
Planning is key...we came in from the north, which means we had to drive an extra 20 miles to get our window passes and more importantly, the code for the lock on the north gate. It'd be better if they sent the code in the confirmation email when you reserve your spot and then have you drop by the south entrance later (or call) to finish up checking in... especially for those of us in any type of toad situation.
Overall it was a pleasant and quiet stay and we'd probably stay here again.
Sue Kidd — Google review
I stayed here from January 23rd to February 6th. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The scenery and wildlife is amazing.
The staff is probably the single biggest delight however. Kari at the south gate is amazing! Customer Service must be her middle name. But really, all the staff was amazing. Matt (I think that was his name), Stan and Gerald are all awesome.
The only problem I had was when this tree shown in one of these pictures dropped a limb where I was standing not eight seconds earlier. It's obvious this park doesn't get much in the way of funds for taking care of the trees etc. And that's truly very sad.
There is a slight inconvenience that you have to get out of the truck to unlock the gates at all three of the campgrounds other than the south gate. My trailer is longer than could fit without blocking some of the traffic in the road. Being legally disabled the constant in and out of my truck was tough and blocking traffic when coming or going with my trailer in tow was very unnerving.
I stayed in Bald Eagle campground and absolutely loved it! I'm going back in May and hopefully everything will be back in bloom by then.
As for cell phone service I have a cell phone from every major carrier. AT&T was by far the best as the internet speeds were well over 100 MBps. Second was T-Mobile at 34 MBps. And Verizon was almost non-existent. AT&T had five bars. T-Mobile had four bars and Verizon barely had one bar.

Sadly I missed seeing the Bison. I love coming and just driving around. The lake is alittle low, but there were still some people out. Plenty of spots to camp and RV facilities and small cabins for rent. It's 4$ per person. Great place for a picnic too. I was told they feed the bison Saturday mornings around 9am, but double check. Be on the lookout for the mama deer and her now somewhat grown babe!!

The park is gorgeous this time of year. Especially with the wildflowers popping up everywhere. I even crossed paths with some deer. The trails are well marked, and I enjoyed my hike. The lake is currently very low, just a fyi. I didn't get a chance to see the north part of the park, but the south side alone is worth a visit.

This was probably a great place at one time. The lake is nearly gone and has been for years. Trails were nice but some places around the park were getting a bit overgrown. We had a lakefront site but could barely see the lake. Had a good time though.

A wonderful State park. The camping spot was very spacious. It included a fire pit with a grate, a grill and a concrete covered Picnic area. A great addition was having a firewood vending machine with kiln dried wood. So if you don't want to haul your own wood it is available at the at the camp entrance. We brought our dogs and had a relaxing quiet weekend. A good escape for the weekend. Highly recommend 👌

Very spacious and clean park. When we arrived, temperature was 110 degrees! But we still managed to enjoy the area. Lots of butterflies enjoying the last of wildflowers. We did have hookups so we’re very comfortable in our Casita with a/c. Cool enough in early morning for a walk and to cook breakfast. Friendly staff. Lake is low but still nice to look at. This is a great little Air Force Base in the middle of Texas. The commissary and exchange are not large but they got plenty of selection. They have a wonderful gym and even a little thrift shop. The grounds are very clean and the static displays are just really really cool. Southern hospitality just a great bunch of people. The San Angelo Inn is really really nice as well. I stayed in one of the newer buildings and it is the nicest military hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Not a good base, communication is severely lacking. My son is currently there and recently found out he does not have everything complete to out process in time for graduation. His buddies got the much needed information with more than enough time to complete everything but my son was never made aware of it and now he doesn't have enough time to get everything done so he has to stay an additional month. We had plane tickets for him for RAP that we have to cancel and now we don't know if we'll be able to see him before he leaves this country. If you have a loved one here, make sure they don't rely on anyone to help them.

Barbers and the hair stylist in the salon are awful. I got the worst haircut in my life messing with these folks. They don’t know how to do a taper at all. How are you a licensed barber and can’t do a proper taper? I asked for taper and somehow, someway the back of my head is bald. My hairline is crooked too. If you are care anything about your hair don’t let these people touch it. They can’t cut black hair and they for sure can’t cut hair in general.

Goodfellow is a great place to expand your horizons because the horizons in that part of Texas go on and on and on. It takes me back to my own training down in Beeville, Texas, at NAS Chase Field, way back in 1963. Ah, those were the days. There's nothing more memorable than a military training base out in the boonies. That's the kind of place to be, where a young guy or gal can discover the wonders of military life. I'm 77 years old, but wish I could go back and do it all over again.

From 1968! Good place to be stationed - old barracks at that time ('68); but sufficient recreation on and off base - some historical sites to see......chow hall was excellent - had pecan trees grew on base - cooks were good at making pecan pies. Education was best I ever had. All in all, one of the best bases I was ever stationed. I'm sure its MUCH different now!

A long time ago, I was trapped on this vortex base for 5 years as permanent party before I finally got orders out of there. I have almost no good memories. My very first assignment straight out of tech school was at a unit where I was emotionally abused by the leadership, but I was too young and inexperienced to know that I should've gone to the IG (which is what people tell me I should've done whenever I share the stories). Now it's far too late, and I'm left to deal with the scars. It's really a shame that people are promoted when they shouldn't be, and allowed to abuse their power with no accountability or repercussions. Most if not all of them have since retired and probably forgotten all about me, but I'll never forget them. I just look forward to my own retirement where I can rub it in their figurative faces, knowing they all thought I would amount to nothing in the Air Force.
I wonder if there was ever any recreational development for permanent party airmen in the dorms, like Chief after Chief promised but never made good on back when I was there. Not sure why I'm sitting here on Google Maps revisiting places of my past (probably because I'm bored out of my mind in quarantine), but I do not miss you, Goodfellow. If you're stationed there and reading this, I'm sorry. But at least there are worse places than San Angelo.

This is a small base, but we really enjoyed our 5 night visit. It had a little kiddy pool, and a bigger adult pool with slides. There is a Burger King, Dominos, and a smoothie shop. We mostly walked from place to place. It is not really a place I would go to if I didn’t have family there. Since it is so small, and it is mostly a training base, it is pretty neat to watch everyone marching around in formation.

The army side of base is not great and morale was consistently low. The base as a whole is nice however, with a small but well kept PX and decent DFACs. Try to enjoy your time there as best you can and look forward to leaving

Not that great of a base for permanent party. Don't have a lot to offer. Base exchange sucks, rather shop at HEB than the commissary and the hours of the north gate suck really bad. There is off post housing that access that gate but can't use it most of the time due to the gates horrible hours.
The San Angelo Nature Center offers a chance to view regional animals such as bobcats, tarantulas, turtles and snakes along with related exhibits. The center provides an affordable outing for families and is recommended for both kids and adults due to its informative staff and friendly environment. Although some outdoor animals may be asleep during colder weather conditions, the overall experience is considered captivating with great attention-grabbing elements.
We absolutely loved our visit to the nature center. This is a hidden gem here in San Angelo. The volunteer, Caroline, was so informative and kind. She answered all of my kiddos questions with ease and patience. She was knowledgeable about all of the different animals there at the nature center. This place is horrible. Do not support this place. They are not taking care of these animals and the pictures are not accurate. 15 years ago it was pretty cool and well kept. The animals are in filthy cages, the tortoise out back was in a hole suffering with no water. Please if you know someone that can help shut this place down call them. These animals need help. If you think I’m being dramatic go see for yourself. I’m making call starting today until it closes or changed. It’s Sam Angelo charging people to see suffering animals.

What a cute, little place. The lady up front was super nice, paid $3 which was well worth it. It’s “small” but has so so so much heart. Cool animals. Just sit outside and have a vibe with the huge turtle and the pretty little fox. Cool snakes, spiders, lizards, and the rock room has some interesting things in jars. ❤️ if you need a naturistic wind down for the evening, go cop a squat out back and just watch the animals play. ❤️. I did dance with the big red bird through the window. Cuteness.

I was not impressed with the Nature Center. I would have given the center 0 stars, but I had to rate it in order to post a comment. There were several displays of real, stuffed animals which a staff member said were donated to the center by a taxidermist. When I asked why a nature center would have such displays, the staff member replied that the center uses them for educational purposes. I said that a picture would do the same thing. The staff member did not respond and appeared agitated because I disagreed with her. Regarding the live animals, cages were small and I felt sorry for them. This center should be closed and the animals should be taken to a sanctuary to live out their lives in freedom. I'm sorry I visited this place.

The employees were extremely rude the only reason we even stayed was because my child was so excited about the animals or they wouldn't have even gotten my money. I'd rather drive out of town to take my child to see snakes and such then take her back here. She didn't deserve the attitude nor did . Plus I've gone there my whole life with multiple events and I've never experienced such rude people nor the lack of animals all they had was snakes 1 bobcat a few birds and ignanas it was a waste of time.

What a great little nature center! This nature center is small but will not disappoint for a midday adventure. Definitely great for kids, but as two adults, we enjoyed it just as much. We spent 1 hour here. There are many snakes, fish, bugs, and lizards in the first two rooms, as well as rabbits, turtles, some rodents, and a large colorful mccaw. Outside there are bobcats, a racoon, a fox, a porcupine, and some tortoises. The outdoor animals we really fun to watch, especially if you get to see them interacting with the keeper. All staff were very kind and informative about the animals as well.

They even have some tropical birds that talk but are shy. They have an insect collection and fossils, along with a large variety of snakes and tarantulas. Stroller friendly and kid friendly!

This is the closest thing San Angelo has to a zoo and it is well worth the stop. It is kid friendly, inexpensive and there is plenty of parking. Situated right on Lake Nasworthy on Knickerbocker Rd, the Nature Center is just a short drive from downtown and Loop 306. I highly recommend the annual family pass. For less than $50 the whole family can visit as many times as you want over the course of a year. The Birthday parties they put on are always well done and educational. Every time we visit the children get to touch at least three different animals. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the visit!

San Angelo Nature Preserve is a hidden gem run by good folks. They have a sign at the entrance that says if the desk is not manned to look around and they'll catch you on tour way out. It is $3 for adults and $2 for children incredibly cheap! We loved looking at the animals which ranged from Hissing Cockroaches to a Fox! There was one employee who is incredibly gifted he reminded me of Max from The Parenthood. He held a snake named Bubblegum while my infant daughter used her index finger to feel the texture of its skin. If you're ever in San Angelo definitely visit! It's a cheap date. Afterward, have a picnic on the lake which is where your parking is conveniently and beautifully situated.

Definitely worth the cost! $3 a person. They have snakes, lizards, tarantulas, cockroaches, fish, bobcats, a raccoon, a parrot, some birds, a porcupine, a gray fox, and of course Opus the giant sulcata tortoise. But also baby tortoises of other breeds as well. The staff is so friendly and it's a fun little place to explore! My daughter loved it. Totally worth it.
Nicely done! A well organized presentation of what people can find on the streets of Downtown San Angelo.

Stopped in a clock store that had a mural...the lady there explained many of the murals which made it very interesting. She was really nice and knowledgeable. The only problem was the walk to each mural was out doors and the weather was hot.
San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is a small yet impressive center that showcases contemporary ceramics and Mexican religious art. The museum's collection is unique, with a focus on local artists. Admission to the museum is free, and visitors can enjoy the exhibits within 40 minutes. The staff at the museum is helpful and willing to explain things, adding value to the overall experience. Additionally, visitors can appreciate street art in Paintbrush Alley and Art in Uncommon Places nearby as an alternative form of expression.
Loved that the entry to the museum was free! It is small but has some really beautiful exhibits! Great place for all ages to enjoy! The mixed media and sculptures were definitely my favorite part of the museum! I hope to see it expand more one day as the artwork there is magnificent!

This is a small, but very nice museum. Their ceramics collection is so different from those that I have seen other places. They have some absolutely wonderful pieces. The shows that they had while we were there were exhibited very nicely. Staff is very helpful and willing to explain things.

Beautiful art and museum. Only complaint is that I couldn’t enjoy the art without the employees following right behind me and watching every move I made. They could be a little more discreet when watching over guests or maybe just install cameras instead. It made me feel a little uncomfortable and rushed but the art was so beautiful!!
Sasha Valdez — Google review
Warning: Some of the art pieces are not age appropriate for children (Probably for children under 12, but I personally didn't find them tasteful myself).
The do have a Texas exhibit and a rotating exhibit which we found enjoyable, and they did have a kids craft the day we went which was fun

An impressive collection of art in their traveling exhibition. I enjoyed the paintings that were then used to illustrate classic books. The woven and quited pieces based on photomicrographs was fascinating to a scientist.

Admission was free so I can’t complain! Only took about 40 minutes to look at all the exhibits. I loved the focus on local artists. But I honestly like the street art better found in Paintbrush Alley and Art in Uncommon Places!

Really good find for me in San Angelo close to their river walk. It’s mostly a pottery place and not a lot of selection or broad spectrum but lots of cute local artists to see. Very quaint, small town art feel.

Lovely museum. Enchanting galleries. Definitely a charming place. There is an upstairs outdoor patio overlooking the Riverwalk. Extremely kind staff.
This must be the best example of a 112 year old railroad depot in the West Texas Region and perhaps beyond! And it is huge compared to others I have visited and explored. I recorded a short tour I will publish on my Dusty Reins Stories channel later on YouTube. The museum is great for railroad enthusiasts and children alike with special events planned throughout the year. See their website for current details and read the reviews others have written here!

Good museum. Worth a visit. Several model train exhibits on the second floor, about half of them worked. Lovely building. Entrance fee is reasonable. Ticket clerk unfortunately knew absolutely nothing about the train station.
Michael Miller — Google review
Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I’m glad this museum is here, and is a significant historical piece to San Angelo as that’s where the soldiers in WWII arrived and departed as they were here for B-17 bomber training and such. It also is historical before that when it was used as a route to Mexico from Kansas. Definitely worth checking out and exploring!!
Brenndon McGill — Google review
Nice little thing to do. The tour was extremely informative. Answered many questions. Tour guide was excellent at doing her job. She was dressed up and everything. Beautiful and courteous young lady.

This railway station is in beautiful shape, holding historical integrity to the highest level. There is a two floor tour. The first floor is set up in almost original format with period furnishings and equipment. The tour guide will even let you try to tap out a short telegraph on the original equipment. Upstairs you will find one of the largest and finest toy train collections I have ever seen. Absolutely Worth your 5 dollars admission. Also there is a separate train tour which I did not take because I want to return. The train tour is another 5$. Definitely worth the trip!

This is an awesome place to take your train enthusiast. We have a 5-year old that loves trains. The whole family ended up enjoying this excursion. The men that were giving tours were so nice and knowledgeable. The volunteers that ran the little gift shop were so helpful. This museum lets you get up close and personal with the trains. There is even a Thomas Model Train that your kids can run. They have three or four rooms that are very elaborate model train setups. They are awesome. It is amazing how beautiful some of them are. This is a great place to stop. You get way more than your monies worth out of this experience.

We had the best time ever made it feel like Christmas kids loved it there was so much to do and for the price it was incredible would absolutely go there every year and there's a zoo there although we didn't get to see it cuz it was night time I recommend it for family outing
This was our first time visiting this establishment. There were over 20 kinds of beer, including ciders. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products being served. They also have trivia and games available. We had a wonderful date night and will return!
P.S. The ladies' room was very clean. That's a big plus in my book!

Local brewery/tap house. I was immediately welcomed by regulars. Everyone was very friendly and I can tell this is a place to take it easy, try some beer, and chat with someone new, if you so choose. I tried some of their beer and a couple, non-local options, including a mead. If you are adventurous, beer, socially, or otherwise, this place is for you.

I absolutely love this place!!! It’s perfect. We come from out of town every few months and this place is a must. It feels like home. It’s so welcoming and the beer is great. I love that I can bring my dog here then go walk the river afterwards. It’s the perfect imperfect hole in the wall. For as long as I have to come to San Angelo I will come to SOCO.

My husband and I happened on SoCo Taphouse while visiting San Angelo. We were so impressed with the outstanding service of the bartenders there, specifically Krista. They have an incredible selection of beer and were just so charming we feel like part of the family right off. We liked it so much, we ended up staying another night so we could go back. I highly recommend SoCo if you like friendly service, a good selection of beer, and a chill atmosphere with tons of friendly folks.
Lacey Fae — Google review
We had a great time at SoCo while spending a night in San Angelo on a long road trip. They have a solid beer and cider selection with fun daily deals. On the Thursday we visited, their deal was reduced price on cans in their fridge and $1 off draft IPAs which I took full advantage of.
The bartender and patrons were very friendly, and we posted up at a table in the back. We enjoyed some fierce games of uno (which I won every hand) and connect four (which we traded wins equally). We really liked this spot and will come back again next time we are in town.
Also shout out for being a dog friendly establishment!

Every time I pass through town I make sure to swing by for a beer. They have a great selection and the service is outstanding. Even if you don't know much about beer the staff looks knowledgeable and can help you figure out what you like. The only bad thing I can say is that I just wish they stayed open a little later.
Paintbrush Alley is a charming and picturesque location nestled within the narrow roads and side streets of San Angelo. This hidden gem showcases an array of artistic creations in various forms by multiple talented individuals. The diversity of mediums used ensures that the experience here remains fresh and captivating every time. It serves as an ideal spot for photography, whether you're a professional or simply looking to have some fun.
BEAUTIFUL place! It’s tucked away in the alleys and side streets of the small town of San Angelo. Work from multiple artists and multiple mediums. Doesn’t get old. It’s a great place to go and take pictures (professional or just for fun). Quiet, relaxing some what of a secluded area. Sit and talk with friends or even just walk around and look at while eating ice cream. It’s a very unique place and highly recommended! My favorite place in San Angelo!

San Angelo, Texas. This is a public art installation of murals, images, and words of heart. Colorful and Free! It's a 2 block long Alley not too far from the old downtown. The artists used the rear walls as their canvases for paint, mosaics, murals, and sculpture.

Something for everyone at this pool. Free on street parking outside. Admission is $5/person starting at age three. Shade is limited, but there are several seating options around the pool like chairs, covered picnic area, tiered bleacher like stone seating, lawn chairs for sunbathing, etc. Please note-NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED INSIDE. For the budget conscious, eat before you go and use the free water fountain beside the shallow end near the men’s bathroom. Concessions are pricey and are located in the corner building between bathrooms with seating available. The shallow end starts with a zero depth entry and small fountains for young children to enjoy. There are many water features and divided areas in the shallow end and even some in-water seating. There are many entry/exit points around the pool. The deep end is only four feet deep. There are two large water slides (one open, one a closed tube) but no diving boards. There were 3-4 lifeguards stationed in and around the pool and all were attentive. The pool is conveniently located beside the Concho River which boasts a lovely river walk, is next door to the art museum and is around the corner from historic Fort Concho for ease for tourists. Highly recommend.

My 6 year old was swimming and going down the slide and about 1 hr in another life guard told her she couldn't. Spoke with Miah the manager and she made my daughter cry, refused to give me my money back. 10/10 don't recommend.

Awesome place to take the kids during the summer they have lots of fun slides and a deep pool and also a shallow pool for the little kids, they have plenty of chairs and places to sit with tables with covers and all at a good price

Super rude lifeguards. My child was who is above 4ft was allowed on the waters slides and then all of a sudden wasn't when a new life guard went up. I went up with her, lined my hand up with her head and she was well above the line and they told her no. Then proceeded to laugh later on when another kid was told they were too short.
Amanda Bost — Google review
For the size of this city, the pool is very small. Over half of the pool is a splash area for kids and the rest is 4 ft deep with 2 slides and a basketball area with no basketballs. My almost 4 year old wasn’t tall enough to go on the slides and wasn’t allowed to go down with my husband or me or by himself even though he can swim. If your child doesn’t like the splash area and isn’t 48 inches tall, there isn’t anything for them to do. Brown’s pool is so much more fun and interactive. We’ll be going there from now on.

Great place to bring the family for swimming during the summer. $5 a person, 2 great water slides and a cash only concessions stand. The majority is shallow wading area for little kids. Tons of seating, although there is limited shaded seating. Parking is difficult to find but consider parking at the art museum near by.

We have been going to the municipal pool for years!! Its fun for all ages. They have the deep pool with the slides separated from the kids shallow pool with the sprinklers. There are ALWAYS 2-3 life guards on duty watching each area of the pool.
One of our favorite family traditions is attending their 4th of July splash party.

This location undergoes a charming transformation at night, becoming an enchanting spot. The affectionate act of attaching locks by both couples and families serves as a splendid visual representation of love between people. The luminous lights add to the allure, making it an ideal place for capturing memorable photographs with loved ones. Commendations are in order for the successful conversion of this area into a lovely gathering spot after dark.
This has been turned into a lovely place after dark. The heart . The locks placed there one couple and one family at at time are beautiful visual and really shows the love that people have for one another.
The lights are beautiful. This would be a gorgeous place to take pictures of your family and friends.

A great place to explore the great outdoors and a historical bridge. From the bridge one can see where a damn supplies water to be treated for use. The bridge was once one of the few places to cross the Concho river... some of which runs South to North...a fairly rare occurrence in the Northern hemisphere.

Lone Wolf bridge is a haunted bridge. I took this photo of my son and his mother in the middle of the bridge and of all the photos I have ever taken THAT is the only one that came out like that. You can Google the story and see why it's haunted.

Lone Wolf Bridge is s bridge open only to pedestrian and non motorized traffic that goes over the Concho River. Nearby is the newer version open to city traffic. There is a park across the way from it that we go to near every day. So, we took a detour to the bridge. There was a guy chilling on the bridge with his bike and a book. As we were leaving, a couple on bikes rode past. It is heavily graffitied. At night, I can see the unease. Not because of ghosts, but more because of the vagrants that camp under the nearby overpass and the secludeness of it.

San Angelo City Park is a picturesque recreational area adjacent to downtown San Angelo. It boasts an attractive landscape, complete with a generously-sized playground catering to children of all ages, including a designated section for toddlers. The park also offers ample green spaces that provide abundant room for kids to enjoy physical activities or sports teams to practice. Additionally, there is a well-equipped fitness area featuring exercise equipment for those looking to engage in physical workouts.
Beautiful park beside downtown San Angelo. There’s a large playground for children with a toddler area. A huge green space provides lots of room for kids to run or sports teams to practice. There’s a physical fitness area with exercise equipment. A large covered gazebo provides shade and picnic tables. There’s another picnic area on the northeast corner with charcoal grills and two porta potties nearby. The park is situated between the Concho River and an old historic firehouse. Behind the firehouse is an old fire truck that is covered in mosaic tiles that children are welcome to climb all over which they love! It’s a lovely spot and worth a visit.

Great park for the family. Lots of room for the kids to run and play. There is a jungle gym and a old firetruck that the kids can play on. Parking is scarce and might be difficult to get handicap parking. There is a nice trail that wraps around the park that you can walk. A weird downside is this is right next to a bed and breakfast and that might be what limits parking. I recommend coming to check out this park and letting the kids run free.

Nice park with a fair amount of things to do. Cool playground for the kids, the river is stocked with lots of fish. Overall the park is very well kept and the landscaping is beautiful. There's also paddle boating, mini golf, some workout equipment near the YMCA and as long as it's not too hot there's usually a bunch of families hanging out doing family stuff.
Don’t miss the only surviving high dive in San Angelo! We’ve been coming to Brown’s Pool for twenty years and it never gets old. It’s the ultimate old fashioned campground pool with truly something for everyone. Admission is $5/person starting at age 4. Three and under are free. The pool boasts two diving boards, three slides, and the shallow end is divided by a cement wall from the deep end. The patio surrounding the pool has been expanded in recent years and has a lot of room for tanning or watching swimmers. There were 4 lifeguards on duty at our most recent visit on 7-19-19 and all were attentive. There are inner tubes for swimmers and pool toys are welcome. There is a large yard with covered picnic areas, grills, playground, sand volleyball court, a bouncy castle, and other amusements. There’s a concession stand up front and a grill in back. Jukebox music is available also. You can bring as much food in as you want (no glass containers) but PLEASE NOTE- NO OUTSIDE DRINKS ARE ALLOWED inside whatsoever. The grounds are well kept and children run around free and happy feeling safe. Parking is a gravel lot and can get crowded on weekends. It’s a great place to have a birthday party, family get together or other swim party.

The kids love it here as they have quite a lot to do, besides swimming! I have been coming since I was little and now can bring my niece and nephew! The only down side would be how many times the lifeguards blew their whistles. I get trying to keep the kids safe while swimming but it was literally every 30 seconds they were blowing their whistles.

I hate to go against the other reviews but I don't think its that great. They charge an extra fee when paying with card to get in. The snack bar only accepts cash. You are allowed to take ice chests in but no drinks are allowed inside. Which would be okay if the snack bar accepted cards. The bathrooms are always disgustingly filthy. The only reason I'm giving 3 starts is because it is one of 2 pools open to the public in this town so you don't really have much choice in the matter.
