Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is a charming animal sanctuary that offers an educational experience. The facility houses a diverse range of animals, including monkeys and tigers, providing them with shelter and care. Peacocks and turkeys roam freely, while deer and farm animals have ample space to move about in the open area. Visitors can observe many bird species as they explore the grounds. Macaques are among the most endearing creatures here, forming close bonds with one another.
In a world post Tiger King, the fact that this is an animal sanctuary and not just a zoo made me feel better about spending money here. It was a great collection of animals, I loved the bobcats, and the albino peacock, and the fact that they have bee hives. They also have a big play park for the kiddos. My only regret was not catching the adorable train they have, or checking out the Johnny Cash Trail that runs along behind the zoo. All in all it was a great way to spend an afternoon.

Only $7 p/p to get in. A good starter local zoo for young children. Zoo is behind the library. Upon exit, there is a playground for the children to play at. Along with a hike trail with a beautiful bridge.

Lovely place! you can really see how much all of these rescued animals are cared for! There are peacocks and turkeys that roam freely, and a very large open area for deer and farm animals. I went on a cold day so there wasn't a ton of activity, but still super fun to see so many birds!! I really loved the macaques, they were very clearly best friends and never left each others side! The cougars were running around their ramps, it was a bit intimidating to see such a huge animal running so fast above me. I cant wait to come back on a warmer day to see how all the animals behaviors change! It takes maybe an hour and a half to walk around the whole place.

My wife and I took our daughters and in-laws here after Thanksgiving as a way to get out of the house. This place was such a pleasant escape for the day! The staff was welcoming, getting here and parking was simple, and the price was more than worth it. All of the animals were out and about in their respective enclosures, and our daughters had a blast looking for them and learning their names. Tons of fun photo opportunities and fun facts. We will absolutely be coming back for the Christmas light events!
Update: we came back for the Holiday Lights event, and it was amazing! A bit crowded, but really well done and a lot of fun to enjoy with the family!

Took my 9 year old grandsons to the zoo, picnic and ended with a train ride. I had as much fun as the boys did.

Christmas wild nights was a great event! Lots of people but it was still very enjoyable! Watching the zookeepers feed the mountain lion was our favorite thing. And the thousands of Christmas lights were a close second. 🎄🎄🎄

The Zoo sanctuary is awesome and helps those special animals with a forever home.
Docents/volunteers are so friendly and helpful with answers to questions.
My highlight was to see a peacock in full plume very close, one for my bucket list.
Great walking paths.

Very small zoo. It only costs $7 to get in. You can walk the whole thing and see all the animals in under an hour.
There’s wild peacocks everywhere which was really cool. The enclosures are grossly small for a lot of the animals though, that was sad to see.

This is a great little zoo. There were monkeys, bears, large safari cats, birds, and much, much more. Plus, outside the zoo is a small train that drives around parts of the zoo for a really small cost, I think $3.

Amazing. I have been going here for 30 years and it has expanded a bit. They even have tables for a picnic and an exit right out to the park. Highly recommend.

This place was super cute and definitely did not expect it to be as big as it was. Only downside is it can definitely get crowded, the walkways are very small and most people have strollers with their children so it’s hard to squeeze by each other. But way more animals than we had expected, quite the experience especially for little kids and nice to have nearby. There is also a little park outside with play structures and the train was a nice little addition as well. We definitely had some fun here.

We love this little zoo/ sanctuary. They have both bears and mountain lions, plus farm animals, eagles, wolf hybrids, wild cats, and more. They have a lot of educational materials, and teach about wildlife conservation, which is great. The enclosures allow for close-up viewing. We like to go in the fall/ winter/ early spring, when it's not so hot, and the days/ hours are limited- be sure to check if they are open before you go! Also, the train, gift shop, and cafe were all closed when we visited last Sunday, which was disappointing.

Came here for the first time today, my daughter loved it! She's 2.5 years, some reviews say it's very small but we found it to be perfect for her! She loved it, she enjoyed seeing all the animals, and walking around. The park outside is also great, she really enjoyed that after seeing all the animals; we highly recommend checking this place out if you have small children.

We love this little zoo! The tickets are a great price. All the animals are pretty cool to see.
And it's not crowded.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. I absolutely love this place! I am so thankful that these animals have a place to go if they can't be in their own habitat due to injury or being housed illegally an they can't be released to the wild.
Side note if it is a super hot day, the animals will be "hiding" they are trying their best to stay cool. Totally don't blame them. So it's best to plan a hot day trip first thing in the morning if you wish to see the most animals.
There is the little snack shack right outside the park with proceeds going to help the park/animals. An you can go to the playground or kids train (costs extra) when it's running.
During the holidays they do a beautiful festival of lights in the park! They decorate & you can come in at night, it's so pretty & fun to do with the whole family. Definitely recommend coming here, love helping support the work they do.
The Folsom Prison Museum is a small museum and gift shop located in an old home that houses various artifacts related to prison life, including Johnny Cash memorabilia. Despite its size, the museum offers plenty of valuable information and stories about the history of the prison. The on-site docent has many years of experience working within the institution and provides intriguing insights into life inside Folsom Prison. Visitors can park outside the gate but should be prepared for close proximity to guards and visitors entering for visits.

A museum that tells the history of Folsom Prison. It's smaller than I thought, but it's right next to the entrance to the real prison, so I was very excited to go through the security gate.It was closed for a while due to the coronavirus pandemic, but I'm glad it's reopened.Admission is reasonably priced at $2.There was no tour guide, but if you had an explanation, you would have learned a lot more history.I saw California Gold on the video, so I sat in a chair and watched it from beginning to end.It was on TV a long time ago, and maybe it's still being rebroadcast. It was an old program, but not the current one. It was very useful for learning about history. You can walk up to the STOP 🛑 sign that says No Visitors Beyond This Point. There is also a souvenir shop, and all credit cards are accepted.Everyone, please come and visit. I was excited.

Great museum with lots of info packed into a small space. The best part was listening to the stories of the docent onsite with so many years of experience inside the prison. Definitely worth a couple hours of exploring!

This is a must see when you are a Johnny Cash fan, even though the museum is temporarily closed. The guard let us take some pictures from the house and the gate! That was so nice of him.
Unfortunately the one person who ran the museum has died recently. So sad, we hope you will find a successor to continue the museum!

Very cool experience. Definitely worth the $2.00 admission! Great stopping point if you are walking along the Johnny Cash Trail.

To be honest, the overall impression about this spot is so-so cause the admission is $2 also they don’t accept cards payments for minimum transactions under $5, which sounds like everyone must buy something if they don’t have cash. This is not cool to the customers.

We couldn't visit because the chap that sorts out the museum has recently passed away 😢

Even tho it's closed, the guards will let you carefully look around small area and take pics. Really neat piece of history - Johnny Cash was here.

This is a small Museum on Prison grounds. There are examples of inmate manufactured weapons and inmate manufactured art. Some T-shirts and other clothing for sale. A very old Gatling gun and the death book of executions. Worth a look if you are in the neighborhood

Neat place to visit. Lots of interesting info as well knowledgeable volunteers are fabulous 👌 please bring 💸 cash. They do accept card for most items, but they also have items available for surviving children of staff who lost their lives. It's a great way to contribute by donating.
Lots of great info available in all types of sources. The whole thing takes maybe 2 hours.

Small museum but packed with historic artifacts, photos and memorabilia. Unfortunately they’ve cut back the hours of operation so Saturday is the only day to visit.
Yeahoo Whoyah — Google review
Unlike me, but I didn't take one photo. I believe that anyone that visits here with just a simple $2 entry fee per person will find that it has so much and is actually quite large.
I believe children as young as 5 years old and anyone up to 100 years old or beyond would find this quite interesting.
I would say the amount of time that you would spend here could be about 45 minutes to an hour. If you really start digging into the hidden treasures and reading the stories you can spend easily a couple of hours.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting here. Not only for the museum. Put this to get a taste of what the prison is like since it's on the same grounds as the actual prison.

We are so happy we went here. It's a little off the beaten path and we were skeptical in taking the time to go, but well worth it. The guy running the gift shop was extremely nice and even though it's small the museum is worth doing. You even park right outside the gate so it's a little weird being that close to guards and people going inside for visits. Lots of Johnny cash memorabilia too.

Dont drink that dirty water. Fascinating historic stop. It's sobering why it was built and still is in use. I love the museum sharing actuall history of the prison and the work and engineering the prisoners put into the construction and maintenance of the facilities. Guards were very accomadating.
Lake Natoma is a man-made body of water that is well-known for swimming and renting boats. It is surrounded by forested trails that are perfect for hiking and biking. However, visitors should be aware that the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship (WIRA) will take place from April 29-30, May 1, May 6-8, and May 13-15 in 2022.
There is nothing more peaceful than being lake side with the natural sounds of nature. Hearing the water crash again and again. I was in the shade so it was almost a bit cold. The fish we’re jumping and biting. It makes for a great experience when the birds are chirping, the breeze is slightly cooler, the leaves are starting to change. Just down right awesomeness!!!

Listen, we can go back and forth all day about the definitions of a river versus a lake, but I guess if you've lived in California your entire life and you hardly get to see this much water gather in one place, standards change. I'm still calling it a river though 😉 Regardless, it's a beautiful place to hike and an ever better place to enjoy some paddleboarding/kayaking.

As a new addict of Paddle Boarding I love this place. I'm a native Sacramentan, been here all my life (over 50 years) and have never explored this place until asked to be a guest to Paddle Board. Such a wonderful family safe environment for just swimming, taking whatever floating (non-gas powered) mode of travel you fancy or even BBQ with fam and friends, better yet, do it all.
I've now spread the joy, introducing several friends to join me at Lake Natoma and they all live it too.
Lots of parking, lots of trails for walking, hiking, running, biking and plenty of bathrooms, loaner life vests available and sometimes a Life Guard on duty. Don't get me started on the Sac State Aquatic Center either.
See it for yourself, enjoy!

Just awesome! Plenty to explore and do. Paddling for hours. Can always find a place to pull out and have lunch. Some paddlers can be a bit oblivious to what's going on around them, but just call out to them before they paddle right into you and you're okay.

Just an FYI to everyone visiting here on the following dates: April 29-30, May 1, May 6-8, and May 13-15, 2022. The Sac State Aquatics Center is hosting the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship (WIRA) at Lake Natoma. With 196 entries from 36 clubs, it's going to be extremely busy here during those days. These teams have traveled from Washing State, Nevada, and as far down as Arizona. If rowing is a champion sport of yours, come on out and cheer your favorite team.
Keep in mind, parking and beach access is going to be a challenge! Plan accordingly.
Here are a few team readiness and warm-up pics. If you see yourself or your team, please share. Enjoy!
The Sutter Street Theatre is a modest venue that presents a range of theatrical productions. Among these are the Off Broadway series, which showcases performances not typically seen on traditional stages, and plays targeted towards young viewers. This theater offers opportunities to experience diverse styles of performing arts in an intimate setting.
Great theatre with real heart. They definitely have done more with the space than you would think possible. Great bar next door for drinks before or intermission. Staff are amazing and first rate. Pricing is affordable and reasonable. Would recommend. Fyi They run kids series and mature series so something for everyone.

A true treasure tucked in among the shops and bars on Sutter Street in Historic Folsom. Don't let the small size deter you if you can get tickets by all means do it! Attended opening night for "Holiday in the Hills" and really had a good time. Just right mix of comedy, reverence and pure joy. Honestly I enjoyed this more than some of the big splashy expensive shows at large venues.

What a GREAT playhouse! We caught the opening show of Peter and the Starcatcher here last week, and it was fantastic! The actors truly gave the performance their ALL and every one of the cast members were extremely talented! We were blown away by that...by how talented they were and how passionate the entire cast was about their craft! The owners, a lovely married couple, were adorable and funny and gave the audience a nice introduction and story about their theater, including funny personal anecdotes which really endeared the audience to these charming people and their lovely playhouse. The husband apparently does the set building and production which is pretty remarkable considering the detail of the set, which for this play was built and designed into a pretty believable ship at sea! Highly recommended playhouse for a truly spectacular, and highly unique and intimate live theatre experience!

I went to this Theatre for a Tony Award winning play called "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." It was remarkably true to its original showing on Broadway. All of the actors are volunteers and so, they are highly enthusiastic about their art. I was not expecting too much from a small theater company, but I was blown away by their professionalism and ability. I hope they will continue to be a fantastic theater company, and infuse Folsom with their art.

Harris Center is a performing arts venue located at Folsom Lake College that features various events such as theater, music, and dance on three different stages. Recently reopened after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, the center requires proof of vaccination and IDs for entry. The parking lot is conveniently located close to the entrance with many volunteers available to assist visitors in finding their seats. The facilities are kept clean and well-maintained.
It has been a long time since seeing a concert live. Harris Center started reopening. We attended this Carpenters Legacy tribute as a Valentines date. Parking is close to the front entrance, many volunteers to help direct one around and to our seats, area including restrooms were clean. We sat in the balcony and could hear and see clearly the performers. Currently they do check for IDs and proof of vaccination for COVID. If you are elderly especially walking with walker or in a wheelchair you definitely should not get tickets in the balcony but stay on the main floor. We enjoyed our visit and would come again.

Harris center is a beautiful enrichment center. I saw the Folsom Symphony on my visit. It was a beautiful experience and I have nothing but good to say. Plenty of attendments were there to check in guests, and it was orderly and friendly. Roomy and well designed reception and hallways. Grabbing a parking pass upon entering the lot was very easy. The website to purchase tickets and browse events was pretty straightforward as well.

Ushers and others are kind, considerate and friendly!
Prices is drinks, sodas are surprisingly reasonable.. plus they offer complimentary coffee and tea! Never seen that offer in theaters in neighboring venues unless a "member-donor".
First time sitting at a balcony seat, unfortunately I'm not tall. Had to lean forward towards the rail as it blocked seeing parts of the stage actors.
Nice bathrooms, plenty for women with short waits.

SeaQuest Folsom is a zoo that offers close encounters and feeding sessions with various animals such as stingrays, capybaras, and two-toed sloths. It is a great place for animal lovers of all ages to visit as it provides an amazing experience that is both fun and educational. The staff at SeaQuest Folsom are knowledgeable, helpful, and care deeply about the well-being of the animals.
My family and I went here for my son’s birthday he really wanted to touch fish somewhere (he definitely got to do that)! I wanted to make this experience even more memorable and paid for two elevated experiences. They were well worth the price and we
felt like VIPs the entire time. We visited with the otters and Syd the sloth. Our guide was Richard and he was amazing. You could tell he loved his job and really loved the animals, especially Syd! He spoke highly of Sea Quest and told us in detail what the other interactions were like which definitely made my family and I want another visit in the near future. I will say I was really looking forward to this but was a little nervous how the animals were treated and kept. Everything was super clean and the animals looked happy. Especially the string rays they were eating up the attention (literally). I spoke to a few other team members and they were all very helpful and informative! I would definitely recommend paying Sea Quest a visit! Also this place was enjoyable not only for the kids but as an adult I had fun as well really impressed with that aspect!

I'm only giving it 3 stars because I feel it's a little pricey, still worth seeing the smile on my son's face. If you have the extra cash it can be very fun. Lots of interaction with animals from feeding a toucan to petting a sloth or wallaby or snorkel with sting rays surprisingly alot of cool stuff in a small space just wish it was a little cheaper. Keep in mind if you do want interaction with the bigger animals you must make appointments. First time there but we will be back again! By the way my 8 year old is autistic and thus was a great activity for him!

Everything you would expect from a shopping mall aquarium. Truly nothing spectacular or amazing. They do a lot of hands on but most cost in tokens which you receive at your entrance. You can also feed pretty much every exhibit but if you don’t get there first thing in the morning nothing is hungry and it just makes the tanks super cloudy. We waited for about 45min to enter on a Saturday. The gift shop is very much lacking…truly nothing spectacular or amazing. If you want to see fish and some other creatures it is fun. I wouldn’t go again.

A fun place to spend a few hours, but definitely not inexpensive. All the up close encounters cost extra, but they did not lack for options. Our family of 7 shared 25 tokens and it was sufficient for the less expensive feeding experiences. The animals appeared to be well cared for and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Worth a visit if you're OK leaving with your wallet a bit lighter.

Such a cute place and even greater place for kids! My husband and I wanted to do a “different” kind of date night and discovered sea quest through Google. Overall is was a great experience, we got our tickets online and got the 15 token package which was actually the perfect amount for animal feeding. In all, got to see some exotic animals up close, pet some turtles, feed some fish we’ve never seen before. Some of the critters were hibernating but you can still see them ☺️. There was quite of few machines and games that were out of order, but overall it was a fun time. Will probably go back if we have kids, it’s great for children

We love this place is great for kids, is accessible and good place to have some times with my family. Folsom sea Quest is bit expensive but worth it great value for your money. We had lots things to see animals, fish and retails items to choose. Great place to have time with kids.

This place is truly horrifying. Before you go, google “is SeaQuest ethical?” and you will get a list of lawsuits they are involved in for the mistreatment of animals. The fish barely have any room to swim, they’ve packed so many in at a time (see photo.) Look at the sad tortoise’s barely fenced in area on cement floors. And there’s a display of what our trash-filled ocean looks like, complete with poor fish swimming around… for what purpose? To abuse fish further?
The animals seem so depressed, so neglected and so abused, even my carnivore-hunter husband was disturbed by it. The cherry on top of a terribly sad experience is that it smells disgusting in there. It’s obvious that the animal areas are not cleaned often or well maintained. The staff is friendly, however.
My husband and I decided to donate double what we paid to be at SeaQuest to an animal rights welfare fund to clear our consciences. I used the opportunity to teach my daughter about the exploitation of animals.
Spend your money and time at the nearby Folsom Animal Sanctuary where they care for animals that cannot be released back into the wild.

Pretty cool place. Mostly for kids. Most of the animals are fat from overfeeding and depending on when you go they might be sleeping. Your kids will love it. It's a bit pricey to buy the food and do the premium animal packages.

This is a weird little place…. It had many displays of various animals and was reasonably priced. It was pretty busy for a Friday at 12pm. It is a pretty dingy place with chipped floors, no windows or natural light, and odd decor (fake plants everywhere). At one point during our visit, someone was doing repair maintenance with a loud saw right near where we and many other families were. It really didn’t seem like the time for that and scared many children. While the cost of admission isn’t bad, prepare for your money to disappear in “tokens” to feed or interact with the animals. I honestly feel bad for the poor animals who are likely stuffed to the brim with food constantly. I honestly could have dealt with all of that and just let it be what it is, but the smell….I was either being hit with the smell of dried fish (the dried shrimp food for the fish that is spilled everywhere from kids feeding the fish) and in another area, the smell of otter urine was so strong I wanted to vomit. It was unbearable and disgusting. Keep in mind that it wasn’t late in the day either, so I wonder how often the areas get cleaned. Clearly poor ventilation too. I feel sad for the animals as it doesn’t seem like their care is top priority.

Overall, its a fun family trip experience. The fish and animals are always a pleasure to see. The best part would have to be the interaction between animals such as the fish, Sloths, Capybara, rabbits, chickens, and sea otters. Unfortunately, this year there appears to be a slight shortage in staff which does leave many areas minimally attended or unattended. The staff working made the experience amazing for what it was 👏🏽.

Bought a one-year membership. The kid loves it here. All you have to do is buy coins every time you come back. $2 a coin. A good place to go on weekends for the kids at raining day.

Birthday party information. I wish someone left this review so we would've booked a different place for our 5th bday. Team was ok. We didn't see our host until most of our guests were already present. I couldn't find any pictures online of their party room, so here are some for you. The room is filthy, the carpet has terrible stains, they swipped the carpet around the tables but when we moved the tables there were chunks of old food everywhere, we ended up looking in their storage and found a vaccuum, we had to vaccuum it ourselves. The worst part was that there is NO AIR! The AC unit does not work, there are no fans, it's very humid, it has zero ventilation, it smells like a terrarium (i understand that we should've expected it but I was counting on some Air conditioning). Our party was in a room that was 79 degrees in February!!! Our cake melted, our food was not appealing, balloons kept popping from the extreme temperature change. The TV in the room did not work. We loved the animal encounter. We liked the gift bags for guests, that's it. Never again! Save your money.
Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park is a popular state park featuring the first distribution point for electricity in a major city in 1895. The museum section of the park offers educational opportunities for kids to learn about electricity by pushing buttons, while the actual powerhouse showcases an epic history of how everything was constructed and transported with many historical photographs available. Additionally, docents are knowledgeable and explain operational processes from when the powerhouse was in use.
Love this historical place because it still has so much intact! The museum portion is fun for kids to push buttons and learn about electricity. The actual powerhouse is amazing, and the history of how they got everything constructed and shipped is epic. Lots of historical photos. The docents are great - our recent one with a PhD in electrosomethingcrazy was fascinating to listen to and explained the processes that took place when the powerhouse was operational. Very educational.

Awesome place to visit. The docents are really interested when visitors ask questions, it'll make their day! I talked with the docent that he showed us a secret: there are two huge beavers that made a nest at the bottom of the downspout of the turbines! They were as big as Labradors!

The park is absolutely beautiful all year round and it’s become one of my favorite places to explore. I would be here way more often if I didn’t have a terrible experience with one of the rude ladies in the office who gave me a parking ticket before they had even posted signs to notify public of the new fee being charged for parking.
5 stars for beauty and experience but 1 star for the staff who work inside as the one woman was extremely rude.

We really enjoyed two free guided tours here. The first in a the very well appointed visitors center and the second in the original powerhouse. It was fun learning about the significant role this place has in the history of large scale power generation. There is a modest $10 parking fee that can be avoided by using the free parking garage in historic Folsom. The powerhouse is not heated so if you go on a chilly day be sure to wear a coat.

Nice little museum close the the historic Folsom town center. Parking is 10$, but it's well worth the visit as it is an amazingly preserved hydro electric station that wasone of the first to generate electricity for Sacramento back in 1895. It was operational until the 50s and then became a preserved park hence all the original equipment from the era.

Great views of Lake Natoma and informative history of Folsom
The Folsom History Museum showcases the history of the region's native inhabitants and the gold rush that made it famous. Visitors can enjoy hands-on experiences such as kids' gold panning, and explore exhibits on Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison performances and an old toy room. The museum also offers informative tours with knowledgeable guides, including Nancy, who has a wealth of historical knowledge to share. Overall, the museum provides a fun and educational side trip for those interested in history and creating lasting memories.
It was very interesting to see the history of the town. The two guys that worked on 3/30/24 had so much knowledge and was excited to share it. The only Folsom that one of the workers ever knew about was the guy the town is named after. So once I told him now you know of two and shook his hand, he was pretty excited. Great to see people invest in what they do and not just take up space. They made the visit to the museum so much better. Thank you!

This museum is on Sutter St. Which is the main street of Historic Folsom. You come upon it about one short block from the tram station. It's easy to miss because it's tucked back from the sidewalk and looks like another storefront.
This is a great starting point for anyone visiting to see this gold mining town because you learn about how it became a gold mining town, why it was named Folsom, and how it has fared as a city right up to present time.
It is very small . The exhibits are very interesting and well presented, and some are interactuve. The difficulty I had, and a contributing factor to my rating, was the difficulty in reading the exhibit placards because so many were down low.
The museum shop is small but nice with some interesting objects.
Cost is $9 and $8 for seniors.
The second factor for the rating was the loud personal conversation that the museum employee had that lasted a good part of my visit. Since the space was small, the conversation was distracting. But, highly recommend going.

I just wanted to thank the amazing volunteers at this museum! I visited today with my 4 young kids, and they had a total blast. The volunteers were so kind, welcoming and helpful. The kids had so much fun with touring old trains and homes, gold panning, pumping water and learning instruments. The kids loved everything and actually learned a lot. Entrance is by donation, which is incredible considering everything the kids got to do. I wanted to write this review in hopes more people will come and support this great place!!!!!

The Johnny Cash Trail is a picturesque route surrounding Folsom State Prison that features artwork honoring the iconic singer. It is suitable for all seasons and can be enjoyed by walking, bicycling, or skating. The paths are well-constructed but visitors should avoid engaging in any illegal activities near the prison. This lengthy trek offers a beautiful display of flowers, particularly near the rainbow bridge, and includes both uphill and downhill sections for a challenging workout.
This is an amazing beautiful bike trail. Really well maintained and the surrounding areas are so peaceful. Well maybe not the prison but it's definitely cool to see.

It's a very beautiful trail.I took a walk on a sunny day between the rainy seasons, so it was especially pleasant. The trees were in bloom and it was a perfect day, neither too hot nor too cold. The people I meet on my walks are very friendly and we exchange pleasant greetings, so I feel at ease. The trail next to Folsom Jail is named after Jonny Cash.Check out the history on our website. If you walk down a side street you'll arrive at the Folsom Jail Museum.Admission is $2, see the museum's website for more information. You can see cattle grazing and even small herds of wild deer.A trail where you can enjoy nature to the fullest.

On a Thursday in September we parked on the residential street Hancock Dr at E. Natoma St. joining the trail there. We walked our dog LuLu Southwesterly and included the spur to Folsom Prison and back to the trail exiting at Stafford St. near Folsom Zoo. A few bikes, a few walkers and runners but not crowded. Total distance was a tad over 3-miles. Then stopped for a great lunch at the Represa Grill on E. Natoma at Stafford St. Great time!

Beautiful trail, walkers stay to your left! This is popular with bikes and the rule is walkers stay left bikes stay right. If you have a dog keep them on short leash if you're on the trail! There's areas to stop and view the water! Bikers consider the walkers and tourists that don't know the area!

Great trail for all seasons. You can walk, ride bicycle, skate on the trek. Paths are properly constructed. It is beside the Folsom prison, make sure to not do anything that lands you in trouble. It is a pretty long trek, would definitely recommend this place for folsom. I completed half the trek, next time would target for completing full trek.

Great addition to the Folsom bike trails. It provides a convenient way for riding your bike from downtown Folsom to Folsom Lake. It has a few difficult hills that makes it a little challenging, but overall it is a pretty easy ride. There is a convenient under passing under one of the prison roads to allow you to bypass the street light. There's also a beautiful new bridge built that spans the ravine.

Very nice at this time of year. Lots of flowers on the side of the bike path next to the rainbow bridge. The path loops around and is great for a bike ride. There is a good amount of uphill and downhill though so be prepared for a workout and bring water.

This trail consists of a long path along a busy road, an overpass, and a sign of sponsors for a proposed park that hasn't broken ground. Was going to give it two stars, but lost another for all of the electric bikes going way too fast.
I really enjoyed shopping here. I stopped by Clarks shoes and XL clothes for men's. They had plenty of food trucks and other vendors on site as well. The atmosphere was great and the people were friendly.

Folsom Premium Outlets was very busy many years ago. But it has been much less crowded in recent years after some major retailers outlets moved out. But the outlet mall is more relaxing now.
This outlet mall has more trees more seating area, and looks beautiful! It just needs more famous brands and restaurants moving in.
Three stars is what the current rating I can put in my review today! I hope I’ll be able to rate them five stars soon!

They got a lot of high end stores and it's always a great shopping experience. I do think the design is weird with all stores backs to the parking, so while walking you can get lost where you parked, because the pathways to stores are set up like connecting starfish, and there isn't any real places to eat while shopping.
You want to eat while shopping, you got to stop shopping, go to car, drive to outside restaurants just out surrounding parking lot. And then come back and shop some more.

I haven't been here since covid, but prices are still great. There isn't a food court anymore, but there there are several food trucks instead. I visited Sun Glasses Hut. I got a pair of Ray-Bans 30% off.

Low key, I actually reallyyy love these stores!!! The Journeys always has good deals, and one of the only Rue 21s in the entire Sacramento Metro. Try to take advantage of the light rail because you can go to the lake as well as shop all in one day! Amazing Fragrances and even better deals, you just gotta ask. Really love that it's outdoors, but also clean and upscale. Amazing! Every outdoor mall should be this💋

My disabled wife was unable to access the store where she had purchased an item online that was available for pick-up. The ADA parking nearest the store was closed off for food trucks, and when she phoned security to be allowed to access the ADA parking she was rudely told to go find an available regular parking spot and walk. Its very insulting to tell a disabled person to just walk when they can't. This was not an option since the regular parking has narrow spaces, and the incline up to the shopping area was too steep. My wife was left crying in her car, while I had to drive out from Roseville to pick up her order.

FPO does offer a lot of brand name stores at discounted prices for their seasonal items, but due to COVID-19 quarantine, a lot of stores were closed or completely gone. There was not a lot of foot traffic, most people just congregated around brand name shoe stores.
Granted, it is not as big as those outlets in Southern California, but it was a pleasant shopping excursion.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Folsom Outlet, but it did not disappoint! We got a lot of good finds at Kate Spade and Carters. My mom and I got two bags for under $250 because of their 70% off sale. The icing on the cake was the Kona Ice Truck that was parked conveniently next to outlet entrance! Definitely can’t wait to go back.

Parking is terrible on the weekends. A parking structure near adidas and vans, right off the freeway, would be largely effective.
Signage is outdated and not very helpful at all. Buildings aren’t in bad shape, but sidewalks with empty planters just look dilapidated—just replace it, we don’t need the plants or empty holes.
Unnecessary vending machines could be replaced by an actual food and beverage court that could generate far greater revenue.
The mall is adding more vacancy as time goes on but there is plenty of traffic on peak days so these issues must fall back on the mall or mall management.
The parking situation is a problem and addressing the issue would be a wise investment but otherwise, the mall just needs some compromising on rents to fill the empty spaces and general sprucing up to bring this place back to life, especially before it heads down the same path the Sunrise Mall took…which was coincidentally managed by Simon as well…

This place just ain't, what it used to be like. Personally, it just seems like a place where you could just boost, steal or disrupt the businesses easily. Because the bathrooms are outdated, the streets are very empty, the food court isn't even open during the weekdays. And the light rail station is right down the road. I mean trust me...My thinking is like " Well, I could just get this, put it in my bag, change clothes and hop on the light rail." What Folsom police gonna do??? They are more focused on the Palladio. Like y'all don't even realize how bad the Folsom Outlets are. What are y'all going to turn it into an Amazon Distribution center?

They no longer offer tours but still offer tastings. I recommend arriving early! It is a very Japanese tasting experience.
You write down the corresponding number or flight name on a dry erase card for the sakes you would like to try and they will bring out either a 1oz or 2oz glass depending on what you select. Prices are very reasonable.
There are some really unique offerings here that you can't find anywhere else!
The staff are happy to answer questions and are very polite. They will leave you to your tasting and check in periodically.
Be sure to check out the garden afterwards. I wish they offered guided tours still, but understand why they would not. I hope to be back in spring to visit again!

We've been here a few times, to visit the tasting room, and go through the self-guided plant tour. Staff is knowledgeable and cordial.
This week we went to a beginning Sushi making class. Price for the class was extremely reasonable, compared to other "cooking" classes.
During the class you get to taste four different Sakes, and one plum wine.
We made two kinds of Sushi. A California roll, and a hand roll with rice, seaweed, crab, cucumber and avocado.
A master sushi maker from Samurai Sushi taught the class. Class only lasts 2 hours. One downside - we had to rush to make our rolls with so many in attendance. IMO the classes should be smaller, or maybe last another 1/2 hour.
Not enough space to share all the goodies you get to take home, not to mention your sushi! LOL
We had so much fun! I can't wait for the advanced class!

Cool spot, great tasting room and Sake is good to boot! 4 of us came here on a Saturday and it was calm even with kiddos in the troller. There were ~8 tastings available if I remember correctly and many different sizes and styles available for purchase (including drums that you break open). I believe they're only open on the weekend once a month and on that day there are no tours, at least when we came, but still fun. Will be back for a tour for sure.
Folsom Lake is a reservoir located on the American River that offers a variety of recreational activities such as swimming, boating, picnicking and camping. The area has been recently affected by drought, resulting in low water levels but it still boasts scenic beauty with blue waters and hiking trails to explore the flora and fauna. However visitors should be cautious during sunset as coyotes are known to roam the area.

I grew up here in the 80's. Lake was always pretty full of water. Fished, learned to sail, hung out with friends, 4x4 the trails in Granite Bay & Rattlesnake. Then the water was gone in early 90's. Returned to visit family, August '23 and had to visit. Lake was pretty full again, unlike the 30 previous years. Was fun and beautiful to see it so full and people enjoying the lake again. Warm water and dog friendly!!

WOW. Didn't know that the super bloom hit this area and it wasn't disappointing by any means. The sad thing is that with the drought the lake is low but I can only imagine what it is like when it is filled. What a hidden gem.

So far the Middleridge Trail here at the Folsom Lake area is my favorite, except for the star thistle field. but, I think you can avoid that if you stay on the paved trail for a little bit. There were great views of the river and you come down to the water in the middle of the trail. It could be a nice place for lunch. I think it's going to be beautiful in the spring but you do pass over some dry creek beds which may make a spring trip very wet.

It's an amazing place to spend with your family and friends,I recommend to go in a group as there is nothing to do but admire and enjoy nature.
$12 is the parking fee till 10 pm, which is when they close.
The only draw back is there is nothing to eat, no truck or something like that. If you are new to town or you plan a random visit to the lake make sure you pick up something to much on your way or else you will be starved.
A planned visit with loads of food and drinks would definitely make the trip to lake awesome.
It's a huge place and I saw people skating, barbequing and mostly boating. Best picnic spot in town.

Beautiful place, but absolutely zero effort from the rangers to regulate parking or keep people from trampling the flowers. There didn’t seem to be any limit to how many people they allow in, and there was not enough parking for everyone, so my car got blocked in. Wow. What a place. From the floating obstacle course to the big slide and then to the toddler splash pad, this place has it all! We visited on whim while visiting family and we were so impressed! There is something for everyone. The best part was the staff though. I have never seen more attentive and hard working lifeguards!!! A few scared kids, including my own, needed help getting off the obstacle course. The lifeguard jumped in for my boy after blowing a loud whisle. Within seconds 2 more ran to the side. I mean talk about doing a job right! If you are looking for an amazing day out with your kiddos, this is the place to be. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Decent pool. Lots of 25y lanes for larger short course meets but it really is a tad too small for events upward of 600+ swimmers. Bleachers are also too short for the crowd standing at the edge of the pool. Surprised at how few drinking fountains are here. Warmup lap pool is very small for larger events. Be prepared to be crowded at larger swim meets. Locker rooms showers and toilets are all good. Location is decent. Next to a larger park. Parking can be a bit of a hassle especially if there is also softball and baseball tournaments happening at the same time.

This is a really good place to take your kids. Be sure to call them for open hours as their hours google may not always be accurate. Looks like they are open more hours during summer. My niece's aged 3, 4 and 6 didn't have any trouble. Lifeguards were always attentive and on point. The only disappointment I experienced was at the cash register. Be sure to check the amount you're charged based on the age is correct and be sure to get the receipt, as I got accidentally charged $3 extra. But they fixed it, so aside from that, everything was great. I will be back here again.

Great place. For 2 adults and a kid it's 18 bucks. However, we did not pay for the obstacle course.
Only stayed for an hour but it was a ton of fun. Just letting everyone know now, you will hear " no running!" and "off the blue mat" 10k times but after a while it turns into white noise.
There are ways to navigate through the line, so don't be discouraged if you notice if it's long. Go to the front to pay because most people have and get a stamp.
3 different spots, big Olympic pool (not an expert but it's grande), obstacle course portion, and kids area with 2 slides (1 tunnel and 2 little slides). Additional feature includes a huge water slide. Watch out for the kids on the water gun turrents. They are ruthless.
Suggestion: add a feature so the kids who are snipping the kids (and some adults) can try get the kids on the water gun turrents back (or the adult who is getting hit the face).

Super fun water park to take the kids. Wipeout structure is a huge hit & the kids love the waterside. Our kids are 12 & 14!
Granite Bay Beach is a hidden gem! The tranquil atmosphere and stunning scenery make it the perfect spot for a relaxing day by the water. The beach area is clean and well-maintained, with plenty of space for picnics, sunbathing, and swimming. The clear waters of Folsom Lake are refreshing, and the surrounding trails offer scenic walks and hikes. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or a fun day with family and friends, Granite Bay Beach is definitely worth a visit.

The lakeviews are great while the spots to view the lakes may not be perfect.

Always a lot to do out at the lake! Boating/jet ski, fishing, swimming, running, SUP, biking. Ive spent more time out at the lake in over the last 10 months than probably the last 5 years combine. A lot of great mtb trails, and they are always changing depending on the lake level.

A beautiful beach. It’s small but nice. We enjoyed looking for pretty pieces of granite and piling them up. It looks like you can camp here as some people appeared to be camping. I’m sure it’s packed in the summertime. We went on a chilly day and there were still plenty of people.

I was not impressed, but please read the entire review! With parks like it really depends on what you came for. There were tons of people out riding bikes so I imagine it is a great place for that.
I go to beaches because I love the sand for relaxing in while reading a book. Not the best beach for that. The sand is rocky and muddy and there are only certain places I could not walk without shoes without it being painful. It was also a $12 entry fee. The only state park that I have paid more than that for was Yosemite. All of the other local parks that I travel to in Florida and California are an average of $5.
That was the negative. On a positive note my 5 year old son and my 5 month old puppy loved it. They had no problem with the rocks or the mud. I went in March and there were almost no other people on the beach although there were numerous bikers on the trail that runs parallel to the beach.

Lake is pretty nice you can park your car close to the water. There is a food floating boat also if you are not planning on bbq or bringing food. Parking is 12$ We had a great time.

Water is really low today. Quite a trek from parking lot but we drove onto beach, like the others here. Be prepared for muddy water. The kids had a great time and park staff were helpful.

This area is beautiful. I bring my family here and we practically spend the entire day out here. Clean and peaceful place. I will recommend to have. Quality time with your family even just for an hour.
Folsom Kids Play Park, also known as Castle Park, boasts a sprawling playground designed with a castle theme that includes swings, climbing equipment and picnic tables. This park is popular among kids who visit it frequently, despite living 30 minutes away. On weekdays, the park is quiet and serene with little to no people around but on weekends it's packed. The surrounding area is vast and features an enormous tree adding to its charm.
Really creativily done. Park is clean and if you walk across you have a huge open area with a gigantic tree.

My kids used to love this park, but we went in February 2022, and my kids didn't want to play. My daughter's told me that the inside of the structure was really dirty and gross, and that they didn't want to be in/on it. The rope section is also off limits, and that made my kiddos super sad, as it was their favorite section of the playground. The last time we were at this park was in 2019, and it was much nicer then.
There were a LOT of families there when we went, it is quite a popular park, so many people definitely do like the park still!

This park is still amazing but is definitely in need of repair. Lots of pieces missing that made this an absolutely amazing playground are now missing or broken. Lots of money in Folsom let’s see some of the money come back revitalizing this park to its greatness. We’ve been coming here for 8 years and is definitely declined. Still clean and lots of fun but won’t be long until it’s not.
Missing the big red rope /chain under the dragon and to rope ladders too where there is just a boarded up hole.
Still lots of fun but let’s fix this park!

The only reason I give this park a 4 is that there are Portapotties instead of restrooms! My son loves "Castle Park". We just had his birthday there. Great covered area for sitting in the shade. A large play area for differing ages, which is nice for families too.

Its a cool wooden park. My 4yr old had fun but there are no restrooms and no lights so when the sun goes down it it super dark. Something about it...other parks just seem more fun.
GINGER HARRIS — Google review
The park has been here forever. That's why it's no surprise that it's run down. They no longer have the ropes by the dragon. Certain areas are blocked off by plywood. My kids still have fun but I wish the city would fix it.
The trails by the park are amazing. And across the street there is another park with restrooms. Just a short walk.

Did a birthday party here on a weekday. Used the grill. Little to no people. Calm and quiet place. Weekends are always packed with kids. My kids love this park. We come here 1-2 times a month even tho we live 30 minutes away.

Such a fun park. Great walking trails and a nice bathroom close by. Our toddler loved it.
Lana Richie — Google review
I think this is a beautiful and lovely location but questionably structurally safe in some areas of the playground. As seen in many pictures posted, this playground is a wood structure which is has a castle like feel. However, there has to be regular scheduled maintenance. Part of the higher towers in the big kid playground are unsafe, the pole to slide down is wobbly. Screws are backing out of studs, etc. It is located in a beautiful scenic area and nice neighborhood. I am from south sac and it was a pleasant place to be in.
Additionally there is no bathroom? I could have missed it but my fiancés cousins (1.5 yrs and 4yrs) were having a bathroom emergency and we could not find one. We loaded up and went to the nearest store then came back.
It was an enjoyable time with a lot to do for the kids and adults, it would just be nice to get the unsafe areas removed or fixed.
Thank you park services for all that you do!

This has a huge playground and a separate area for toddlers/babies. My two boys (ages 4 & 2) had a blast. There are plenty of picnic tables available and the trail was very close. I highly recommend.

This Park was probably at one time very nice however currently its kinda dumpy. There are areas boarded up, broken equipment, and does not look like any of the pictures posted. It's also not very toddler friendly, lots of open spaces for them to fall off of, and areas where they can not climb up due to access being a pole or ropes, ect.

One of my kids favorites with novelty appeal; has a fun tire swing, a sand pit for littles that like to dig with separated toddler play structure, plenty of shaded picnic tables, and great for playing "hot lava" (aka 'tag'). The drawbacks would be no bathrooms, poor parking options, and lacking on cool slides.

Fun playground that even has a tire swing. There’s section for tots with bucket swings :)
Had a great beer, wonderful service, lovely atmosphere. Hope to visit again someday.

Very homey and comfortable craft brewery with lots of alcohol to choose from, and handmade brick oven pizza's that are making my mouth water remembering them! Fifth star when they get more food options like wings and sandwiches. Cool meeting rooms in the back area for teams and large families. It's in an industrial park and it feels like one, but it doesn't have to. A few design changes would make it more comfortable. (More padded chairs please.) Dog friendly on outside patio.

Beer tastes are personal and brewery preference are based on individual's choices. With that said, I am sorry to say I wasn't a fan of Red Bus brewing company. It's located in an industrial center. There's no thought on comfort or how to get the customers to stay longer. Red Bus serves brick fire pizza, but not until later on in the evening. The beer was okay. After sampling 5 different items on tap, there wasn't any I wanted to take home or have a second round. It's not a great date spot. I would recommend the brewery make the inside more inviting and provide games for their clientele. Also, provide solid food options until the pizza can be served. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

Excellent brew matched only by the food trucks offered. Keeping it interesting. The crazy dawgs Chicago dawg was epic. If you are in the area, you must try this.

Fabulous options, Eric the brew master is legit! Great pizza options to pair with your brew choice. Try them early and often, top notch

This was my second visit. The place is very casual and strictly a brew pub. The only food available was from a third party. It's pizza on Monday. I tried both of their stouts. The lightweight at 4.8% and the 90 weight at 12%. I prefer the 90 weight but that's just me. Both beers were quite drinkable. I came down to visit with friends. The front room was about 2/3 full, but still quiet enough to have a good conversation. There is plenty of parking and the staff is quite friendly.

Found out about this little gem from a friend and it did not disappoint! Great atmosphere and friendly people. There is even a game room and they have entertainment on certain days. The beer was definitely refreshing and I can't wait to go back and sample their other choices on tap. This will become a regular spot for sure! And a plus, they are dog friendly!

Great beer, family-friendly, rotating taps, so there is always something new. This is a great neighborhood brewery with a great food truck option on the weekends. If you have never been here, make a point to come on by.

Came here on a Friday morning around 10am and the gate to the trail was locked, couldn't get to the trail. It's not private property so idk why it's inaccessible.
