Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is a prominent railway attraction that offers elegant train rides and themed excursions, including mysterious ones. Their Frostburg journey provides awe-inspiring 360-degree views for passengers who opt for the upper dome seating, accompanied by brunch. Although some shops in Frostburg may be closed on Sunday mornings, visitors can still enjoy a coffee shop, Lady Bug store and local essence store. For those seeking adventure, their Murder Mystery dinner trip promises an exciting experience.
Went on the Frostburg trip. The ride was great. We opted for the upper dome seating. Wow 360° views. A bit chilly because of the cold weather and older glass but the views were unbelievable. Brunch was included big bonus. Once in Frostburg we were shuttled into town. That was kind of disappointing because the shops were closed all but a very few. (A coffee shop, Lady Bug store and a local essents store) So not so good on a Sunday morning in March.
Plan on trying their Murder Mystery dinner trip. Sounds like it will be a blast.

Fantastic experience. Would definitely recommend going during mid-late October to see peak fall foliage. Get there early to get a seat in the right side if the train as it has better views. You can also get up and walk around so I walked to the outdoor part where you could hear the engine and whistle and smell the steam from the coal, even getting hit with light soot debris. Will be going again!

This past Saturday, I went on the Evening Dinner Train excursion with a few friends. Let me say, it didn't disappoint. There was also a Murder Mystery show going on during the excursion. The food was excellent, the only thing I would have to say is be careful that you check your silverware once you sit down. Two of the four of us didn't have a knife, so we shared our silverware. Overall, it was a fantastic trip for the price. Got a three hour train ride, dinner and a show.

My wife took me on the scenic train ride for my 60th birthday. I had never been on a train of any kind. I was so excited and the excursion did not disappoint. We chose the open car which was very enjoyable since it was a picture perfect day. Might not be a good idea if rain is in the forecast but definitely a good idea if there is no rain due. I plan to try one of the dinner rides next. I would suggest to bring your own food on the open car. The hot dogs we purchased left a lot to be desired. But overall this was a great experience for a very fair price.

It's a nice train ride with some good scenery. The 90 minute layover in Frostburg was a slight disappointment... you have to walk up a big hill into town and not much to see once there. The staff seemed to be nice, with the exception of the lounge car attendant- she was just nasty rude. That's why you get a 1 star rating. Save your money and go ride the Potomac Train in Romney, WV.

Went for our Anniversary. Did first class lounge. $97.50 each. This did include a $20 food voucher each. The trip itself was nice. Very nice and comfy and warm. If you do the lounge I suggest you sit close to where the bar is. We sat clear in the back and it was like pulling teeth to get my hubby coffee let alone any refills. It’s called SCENIC but honestly there is no scenery. Dumpy houses and hillsides mostly. But the ride itself was nice. The Conductor was sooooo friendly. He told us him and his wife owned the lounge car and the car behind us. Made it more personable knowing all the info he gave. Went to Frostburg and had the shuttle take us up into town. It started hailing when we left the train lol. Not much to see or do there. Mostly everything was closed so we just walked around for almost two hours. By then the sun was out. Took shuttle back down to train. Once back in lounge car, we finally hailed the young guy who was the waiter. Nice guy but he was sooo busy you had to really get his attention for any orders. I had the chicken sandwich and I highly recommend that to everyone. My hubby had the turkey sandwich. If your not very hungry I say get it. There isn’t much to it. I will show a pic of menu as well. We also got the cheesecake with blueberries. I paid the difference from the $20 voucher and how much I went over. Was never give any napkins or silverware. So we had a rough time while eating. Sooo bring a few with you!!! We had to ask a few times for something to stir coffee with and getting creamer took forever so be patient. All in all it was a good way to spend the day. Not sure I would do the lounge car or trip again.

Nice relaxing day. Wonderful staff, Shelby is awesome. There could be a bit more signage directing folks and communication on what’s going on. Did not know there was a shuttle to take people in town and was not aware our train tickets would gain us entry in the carriage museum. A big thanks to your hard working crew for making it a great day! Roll on 1309!!!

A lovely day out! This was such a treat from start to finish! We started the day with a visit the C&O canal exhibit on site. Great way for the whole family to learn more about how goods ( mainly coal) was transported by the canal system. It provided a lot of jobs in the area and was quite innovative for its time. The train station is a step back in time. The entire process was easy to navigate. I especially loved the conductor shouting “ ALL ABOARD “. We were in coach and it was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was a great relief on this hot summer day. They have a lovely little concession to get some quick treats for your ride to Frostburg MD. The train conductor or (someone else not sure) was an excellent tour guide throughout the journey.
My only complaint would be the lack of a shuttle from the Frostburg station to main street in Frostburg. While there were things to do at the station, the town of Frostburg was fun to visit. We did have to walk a very steep hill ( there were also steps) to get to Main Street.
I definitely recommend taking a trip
On the Frostburg Flyer soon!

My husband and I brought our grandchildren to ride the train. They are 2 and 6 yrs old and love trains. They absolutely loved the train ride. The Conductor moved us to seats that had a full window for them to look out as our original seats only had part of the window to see out of. They gave information about certain key places along the route. All the staff was friendly, the train was clean. We really enjoyed ourselves.

We thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end! The Cumberland station is easy to navigate and parking was convenient. The train ride was wonderful! I'd suggest to sit on the side closest to the station, for best views, if possible. Autumn was in full bloom (on 10/21), and the sights were breathtaking! Frostburg station was very nice also. There is a steep walk (up several stairs and then up a hill) to get to most of the shops in Frostburg, but if that isn't doable, the shops and museum on the same level as the station will definitely suffice for 90 minutes. We loved everything about this adventure and will be back again!

Beautiful train ride. The website is bit confusing as far as the layover in Frostburg. So we did not know we could ride the train one way and ride rail bikes back, which we would have loved to do. Definitely will come back to do that. Longe car and table car were very nice food was OK.

Wow. Just stop reading this and book the trip! What an amazing little day trip. I've lived less than an hour away for over 20 years and after experiencing it, I cannot believe it took me so long to go. The staff cares about what they do and it shows. You can feel just how much these people LOVE their "jobs." Very friendly. Very helpful. Very accommodating. There is something for everyone even those who aren't very into trains. You don't have to be into trains at all! Wanna take the kids and let them have fun while you relax? Book a ticket. Want to leave the kids or whoever at home and have some drinks while someone else drives? Book a ticket. Seriously this is a wonderful little gem hiding in plain site. Great prices, wonderful staff, and so much fun.

I'm not sure if it is worth $150.00 a person for a train ride. But the cars are neat as can be, you need to check them all out. The diesel and the steam engines are beautiful. The station and platform look like new. You guys keep it all in amazing condition.
Kenneth Kutcher — Google review
Beautiful experience, especially in the fall with the leaves. Get in line early so you can get a good spot on the train. Highly recommend the open air car if you can.
When I went it was quite chilly which I think caused more people to not want to sit outside, but on the way back, everyone wanted an outside seat when they saw how pretty it was and how much better the views are.

We had a wonderful excursion on the railroad traveling from Cumberland to Frostburg and back. I highly recommend the observation car as it was very comfortable and offered a great view of the Maryland countryside. We were also able to go downstairs in the car to a lounge area to escape the sun from time-to-time. I did try the open car for about 30 minutes; however, with the heat and humidity and diesel fumes, I'm glad we had signed up for the observation car. The railroad staff were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The only nit on the entire excursion involved getting on and off the train. My wife has significant mobility issues and needed help with using the metal boarding stool. The staff was reluctant to offer any help or encouragement to her in boarding or in getting off the train. We did okay on our own; however, we would have been much happier if assistance had been offered. A concern over liability issues may have been part of the problem.

First of all, it’s supposed to be a scenic ride, but the windows are all dirty. They could’ve at least cleaned the windows in between rides. So to get good pictures, I had to go to the open air seating. If you do go for open seating, sure the fresh air is nice but you will also get the smoke, leaves, and bits of dirt. The uphill hike (road or stairs) in Frostburg is not recommended for anybody with mobility issues or heart condition. There is a shuttle that’s crowded. Maybe they should expand the shops and dining choices in the level of the station. 90 minutes is not enough. So we didn’t really explore Frostburg. When you book, make sure you choose the right side of the train coz that’s where the views are. The train didn’t flip or did the turntable, they just reversed (engines both front and back) so the right side still gets the best views. That said, it was a nice experience to tick off my Maryland to do boxes. Autumn was in full bloom.

A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
$90/ticket for the Lounge car; treated with a glass of champagne, a guide to point out interesting things on route, a barman, and a $20 meal voucher.
Nearly 2hr stop in Frostburg. On a Sunday not much is open.

Did the winter Allegheny express afternoon excursion with layover in Frostburg. Great trip! Loved the open air car. It was a warm day. Very relaxing and fun. Can’t hear any announcements though in the open car (but we didn’t mind this)
Pulled by a diesel. Will have to return to see the famous steam engine!!
Pricing was reasonable for the ride (coach) but the food on board was pricier so we just ate before.
Not much direction when boarding, this could be improved as a process, for example which cars to sit in for your ticket and where the dining car is would have been helpful info to know. We figured it out, but this is a suggestion for future improvement considering visitors from other countries etc.
We had planned to have a snack in Frostburg but apparently very few businesses are open on Sundays which we didn’t know. There is a steep hill to get up to the town which could be difficult for people with mobility constraints. Maybe they could offer a shuttle?
Town itself is charming but I wish they’d partner more with the railroad in offering some more business options to peruse as well as signage at the depot informing people what’s available, maybe even a map for those unfamiliar with the area, this could even include sponsorships or advertising to defray the cost and support local businesses. I did stop at a book shop and read some historical markers but otherwise the 2hr layover is a bit much. Frostburg looks like it is in revival but honestly a bit disappointing place to visit. There’s nothing to do even at the station, the gift shop was closed and there’s no food or options. A railroad museum, food trucks, signage, etc as well as more local businesses open in town would have improved that layover immensely.
Other major issue we encountered was the train station at Cumberland had a lot of homeless hanging around. Situational awareness is needed. They are sleeping near or under the freight cars and we came across a stash of garbage and human waste while trying to look at the cars and see the bridge or walkway on the other side.
Very beautiful building though! Gift shop should lean more into the WM logo and history. It would sell way more items then.
Would love to see this organization make some improvements to bring guest experiences to the next level! Looking forward to visiting again.

I keep seeing mixed reviews and I feel like it’s very normal for people to only take the time to leave a review when they have something negative to say. But I was nervous taking the trip for this after seeing so many negative reviews. SO I wanted to get on here and say that my kids had the BEST time! The staff was wonderful and friendly and we rode the steam engine and it was amazing! Santa was so fun and my girls each got a bell. My husband I got one also! The hot cocoa was yummy. They had a conductor walking through the train cars and it really felt like we were on a night ride through the northern wilderness. It’s worth it! Not to mention. The town is ADORABLE if you have any time to stay and explore. It looks like a Christmas Card!

We were close by Cumberland for a spa weekend at Rocky gap casino and the train ride was perfect. It is a few hours, so something great to do if you have a fair amount of extra time. We did the winter express and the views were great, be aware there were a lot of homes along the tracks so not as scenic as I thought it would be. You have the option to dine on the train if you have the coach ticket as well so we did that and the food was great, service was fast and efficient. It was also continently located to downtown Cumberland. Went to the shops and got some coffee

We chose Cumberland since the steam engines were already booked up. We booked the 7:30 one but showed up early at 4 looking to find some things to do beforehand. We have twin 7 yr old boys with lots of energy. It was a warm day even though it was Dec 22. We found a parking spot easily where we didn’t have to pay. Then walked around town. Not a whole lot going on there really. Some random shops but nothing interesting to my kids. Right outside the train station there’s a lil playground so we spent most of our time there. We hit up The Crabby Pig restaurant nearby. It was okay. Once it got dark they had a lot of lights around the station. 7:30 came and we got in line. Not much communication on where to stand. They have 3 lines #840 844 & 852 and on the left. There were so many people you didn’t know where the lines were. We waited a lot longer because of that. We boarded and the train is so cool to walk through. We got a 4 top table on 852 car. There’s some guys who start dancing and singing and do great. Only thing is you can barely hear the music. My kids didn’t care but hey it’d be nice to hear it for how much I paid. They go through some routines, then you get hot chocolate, a cookie (that sucks), and a souvenir mug. Then Santa comes and hands out bells. The workers and Santa all played their parts great! Took time to get pics too. The train ride would of been nicer at the 5:30 showing this time of year. At 7:30 it’s so dark you barely see anything until you get to the North Pole which was nice and all lit up. It’s only an hour ride but honestly it’s a perfect amount of time. Our train car was lively and everyone was singing songs. Had a great time overall. Definitely do it again. Just please get some louder speakers:)

My husband and I took our 6 and 9 year olds for the Polar Express ride and it was great! We chose the table car and it was perfect to enjoy our hot chocolate. The staff was friendly and great with the kids. Polar Express music played, the book was read, Santa stopped by and took a picture and the train car sang Christmas carols together. Overall a great experience!
What a beautiful little museum. It might be a bit larger, but the due to an event, we could only tour the 1st floor. Wonderful information about the beginnings of Cumberland with some fascinating and beautiful displays that were well made! the AI recreation of George Washington was amazing! Definitely come and see it!

Friendly staff and free entry.
The museum itself is a bit small, unless I missed other sections some how. The displays themselves were mixed in quality with some not functioning.
There was some interesting archival footage from Edison showing Cumberland pre WWI. The historic cars are definitely a bonus too.

The Allegany Museum, nestled in the heart of Cumberland, Maryland, presents an enthralling journey through the annals of local history. Stepping into its corridors is akin to unearthing a treasure trove of narratives that span generations. The museum's curated exhibits eloquently narrate the tale of the region, commencing with the indigenous inhabitants who once graced the land, to pivotal episodes like the French-Indian War that left an indelible mark. The lineage continues through the corridors of time, touching upon the presence of luminaries like George Washington and tracing the veins of the B&O Railroad that helped shape Cumberland's destiny. Notably, the exhibits cast a spotlight on the significant influence of Kelly-Springfield tires and much more, weaving a rich tapestry that vividly illustrates the evolution of this vibrant community.
Upon entering, the warm reception from a local volunteer steeped in the region's lore amplifies the experience. Their in-depth knowledge of both the area and its history breathes life into the artifacts, offering visitors a chance to glean insights beyond the placards. The volunteer's guidance for the self-guided tour, spanning two engaging levels, ensures that each visitor embarks on an immersive journey, threading the past with the present.
A visit to the museum becomes all the more convenient when paired with a stop at the Cumberland Visitors Center. Nestled within close proximity, this center serves as a gateway to unlocking a multitude of experiences. From seamlessly parking your vehicle to gaining access to the museum and the Visitors Center itself, the location offers a seamless blend of educational enrichment and exploration. Moreover, a brief stroll from the center unveils George Washington's Headquarters, further adding to the historical marvels waiting to be explored in this charming corner of Cumberland.
In sum, the Allegany Museum serves as both a repository of stories and a bridge to the past, casting a brilliant spotlight on Cumberland's vibrant history. The dedication of its volunteers, coupled with a well-curated journey through time, solidifies its place as an essential destination for history enthusiasts and curious minds alike.

We had our wedding at the Allegany Museum on 23rd September 2023. It was a perfect day and the venue was an enormous part of that.
We felt well looked after by Mike from the first communication. He and has team worked hard to ensure that we could organise everything in the run up to the event (which was complicated by the fact that we were planning a wedding in Cumberland MD whilst living in England!)
The ballroom is beautiful space that needs minimal decoration other than some personal touches to make it your day. It is versatile and spacious too. Allowing us to use it as an area for dinner and a dance floor without much re-organising during the main event.
Our food was served in the hallway outside the ballroom - which also kept the main space free for dancing and socialising. There is a handy back room for getting ready and keeping stuff together for the bridal party too.
The bar is also a beautiful feature that adds an ornate touch to the room and can be positioned anywhere to fit your floor plan.
The team at the museum were also excellent when the weather turned and allowed us to move the ceremony inside at the last minute... Plus - having access to the exhibits gave our guests one more thing to keep occupied with despite the weather!
We would definitely recommend checking out the museum for your special day. We're not planning on getting married again anytime soon - but we'd definitely love the opportunity to come back to any other parties that might be thrown here!

Awesome family holiday outing! 2+hr ride from Baltimore. We arrived early, picked up our authentic tickets for the Polar Express. Had a quick tasty lunch at Uncle Jacks Pizzeria. Back to the depo for our train ride. We were on the coach train, it was less decorated than the first class and dome cars, however the staff "the kids" were pumped up and enhanced the ride.
Parking $5 donation for the clock tower. Parked right outside the depo.
Uncle Jacks pizzeria, youngins had pizza and fries. Huge slices of pizza, which they said was awesome. Adults had fish and fries. The bread was... different looking, however the sandwich was hot, the fish flaky and the fries were HOT with just enough salt. Prach tea was good, just sweet enough.
I enjoyed the second half of my sandwich about 4 hrs later. Still tasty.

C&O Canal Visitor Center in Cumberland Maryland just opened for season, 3/4/2023. They are currently only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10-3PM. There are a number of junior ranger programs here for the kids to do and the exhibit area was much larger than expected and very updated and well done. Staff was amazing and very knowledgeable about the park which actually goes from Cumberland and goes all the way down to Great Falls and DC. There are a number of C&O visitor centers open along the distance of the C&O Canal park system. Williamsport is the current headquarters but was told that Cumberland visitor center has the newest and most up to date exhibits. The visitor center is below the train station which is also very cool but a little confusing at first. There a nice park with playground right adjacent to the visitor center where you can let the little ones play and even have a nice picnic lunch. We were on our way through the area so we didn't get to explore much of the town other than the C&O Visitor Center. Plan to take at least 45 mins to see everything and possibly longer if you like to read everything. If I were to pass by Cumberland again I would visit again but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again. At the time of our visit the national park store inside was still closed and you were unable to purchase any park merch. They do have the national passport stamp for C&O Canal with the Cumberland MD location on it. They said all the C&O visitor center stores were still currently closed but that they are hoping to have them open soon. There were numerous brochures on didn't parks and trails systems in the area. A great place to pick up ideas for other things to see and do.

Cumberland Station is a historic railway station in Cumberland, Maryland built in 1913 as a stop for the Western Maryland Railway. I did not go into the place since it was just a quick stop home on the National Road.

This location marks the end of the C&O canal towpath. Extending from DC for 184.5 miles, this spot is it.
The museum located at this site (closed due to COVID) has accompanying outdoor info placards, maps, trails, and sites. All of these are free and food for all ages. Around the outside of the building, there are multiple signs that explain the history of the C&O and identify key landmarks between Cumberland and DC.
Most notably (as eluded to) a massive 184.5 mile double-wide trail begins (or ends) at this site. Maps abound that illuminate key sites along this route. As you depart the museum, you can pick-up the trail and find 3 major sites within a ~1.0 mile walk south along the towpath. These include the trail start & bronze emblem (immediately outside the museum due south), a canalboat mock up (within 400 meters), the canal itself (within 600 meters due south), and one of the locks (approx 1 mile south). The towpath itself has landmarks along its entirety and has mile markers indicating where you are located.
Definitely one of the highlights of Cumberland if you like outdoors and history. And if you like free!

The winery is small and quaint. They don't have a vineyard on site. The grapes are purchased elsewhere. The wine and brandy is made here in the store. They offer a nice variety from red, dry to smooth to sweet. My favorite is the chocolate wine. They also make 3 types of brandy. It was interesting to see how it was made. They offer tastings for 5.00 which is very reasonable and they take the 5.00 off if you purchase 2 bottles of wine. They just recently moved into this bigger unit. Stop by and give it a try. They were extremely nice and helpful.

The owners were friendly and the space felt safe given the social distancing. Decent selection of wine for the tasting. The olive oil tasting is quirky.

The Allegany County Fairgrounds hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including the long-standing fair. While it is an enjoyable experience, parents should be mindful of supervising small children. The races are particularly entertaining and worth the admission price, which ranges from $15 to $20 depending on the schedule. Unfortunately, due to both the greediness of the Allegany County Commissioners and a decline in volunteer support, the Cumberland Firefighter Bash Local 1715 event has come to an end.
My friends and I came here to attend the 10th annual chicken wing off and music festival.
Awesome place, we had alot of fun. wings and funnel cakes were best i ever had and beer was cold

The facilities are nice. Parking seems to be good as well. A few actual bathrooms to use. There's an area for a concert stage, and a track for derbys and such. I was there for the annual tri state wingoff. The event itself could've been organized better but that has nothing to do with the fairgrounds itself.
Jeremy Durst — Google review
The fairgrounds offer many events through out the year. The fair is the longest running event. It is a good time but small kids need to be watched. The races are a good time and well worth the price of admission $15-$20 depending on the schedule. The Cumberland Firefighter Bash “Local 1715” was a great event but due to the greediness of the Allegany County Commissioners and declining volunteers to help it has ended unfortunately. Del Fest has been a huge success and I hope it continues. The fair grounds could be utilized so much better if the County was not so money hungry.
However the grounds are kept in terrific shape and well maintained by the Fairground Employees. Mr. Kammauf does an amazing job and should be recognized as such. His knowledge and craftsmanship is unmatched.

The Allegany County Fairgrounds, situated amidst the picturesque Allegany Mountains, offers a surprising and delightful experience. During my visit, I had the pleasure of attending the 50th annual Rod Run, a fantastic car show featuring an array of impressive vehicles. This event provided not only automotive marvels but also food vendors and an assortment of unique goods and trinkets for those in search of treasures.
One of the remarkable aspects of this fairground is its sprawling expanse, allowing visitors to cover approximately 2 miles while exploring the carefully crafted vehicles put on display. These automobiles are truly works of art, showcasing the creativity and dedication of their creators.
If you ever find yourself in the area during Labor Day Weekend, I highly recommend stopping by the Allegany County Fairgrounds to witness the Rod Run. It's an event that combines automotive passion, community, and craftsmanship, promising an enjoyable and memorable experience for all who attend.

Delfest is a fun event every year and is perfect for kids probably 6-8ish and up. Music goes late into the night(midnight ish) and there is always something to do!

Sadly this year’s Fair (2022) was very disappointing! Carnival workers were rude, the rides that did work closed early, and the variety of rides were sad in compassion to last year’s Fair. In addition the cost to ride was way too high for what was offered. Unfortunately upping the cost doesn’t eliminate the riffraff that ruins it for everyone with their fights. I did feel there was a good law enforcement presence there, however I would of liked to see them walking around the grounds a little more. I felt they were mostly isolated to the main pathway. Not sure if I will be attending next year’s fair.

The fair was really great this year. Alot of cool rides to ride. Food was amazing. Great place to go as a family.
1812 Brewery is a delightful establishment with live entertainment, handcrafted beverages, and an array of delectable dishes from various vendors. This charming venue was recommended by friends and has proven to be an exceptional choice. It offers a relaxed and family-friendly environment, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long week. The culinary options are dependent on the rotating food trucks available, ensuring a pleasant surprise for each visit. Without a doubt, it is worth experiencing for yourself and guarantees future return visits.
Terrific place to visit and spend some time. Great beers with a wide variety of selections. beautiful scenery, and a historic site that history buffs will love . Friendly staff with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating

A fantastic destination brewery, uniquely set in the Maryland mountains. It definitely deserves 5 stars, however my experience fell short. I prefer porters and stouts, and the store had been erased from the menu board. We tried a flight of 4 yellow beers that were ok. Then I saw 2 customers with points of the stout. Turns out they had it, but it was slow to pour. Guess what? I don't care. I did ultimately get the stout, and it was a very good beer. Please be more honest with your customers.

Great ambience, friendly staff and good live music but beer was lacking.

I enjoyed hearing the outside band. The atmosphere is great. I wish though they would come up with something other than beer to drink. It was hard getting information about the band Saturday night because no one answered their phone at the brewery. I had tried over 10 times over a two-day period.

Fantastic brewery! The location is exceptional, its tucked far enough back in that we started to worry we were going the wrong way. I enjoyed every beer I tried (and took a 4 pack with). I will definitely return anytime I'm in the area.

Great little place. Live music, home crafted beer, food brought to you by different vendors. We were introduce to the place by friends and it is great! Family friendly and cool place to end the week. It is very casual. I guess the food depends on what truck is there, so we were lucky to get good food. Definitely worth coming to and we will come back.

The Gordon-Roberts House is a remarkable museum with numerous enchanting memories from a few years ago. The credit goes to Brittney, the individual responsible for crafting their online presence. Although she may no longer be employed there, the establishment still merits five stars due to its close proximity to the reviewer's residence and its splendid front yard.
Very interesting tour. The home was beautiful.

I had a few wonderful experiences here a couple of years ago, thanks to Brittney - the woman who created their web presence. I do not think she works over there anymore, but i still give it five stars because i live across the street. This is a gorgeous front yard. I met the gardener when i was visiting Brittany and we ended up on a mission where i got to wear a vintage glove while i rescued a baby bunny. It was in a hole and i was the random petite woman who happened to be walking by at the time. If the glove fits....

I have been here twice now and truly enjoy the tour every time. The volunteers are very knowledgeable of the history of the house and also know a great deal about Cumberland during those historic times. The house is in excellent condition and always so pretty. We have been there in the summer and also at Christmas and I would have to say that the house is so beautiful when it is decorated for Christmas. It is always so interesting to hear how Cumberland was the "Queen City" and that it was the second largest city in Maryland, only smaller to Baltimore. I am a huge history buff and always want to know more about the house and always have questions and they are always answered by the volunteers. I would highly recommend going at least once when you will have time to truly look at everything possible. Not really sure what it would take to give a 5-star rating but is excellent.

The George Washington Headquarters museum is a historic site located in Riverside Park. The log cabin served as the military command post for the 1st US President during the war in 1794. It has been well preserved and was previously relocated from Cumberland to its current location. Visitors can access historical information about Washington's visits to the area and his use of this cabin, even when it's closed, through an informative message.
If you are taking a walk around the city make sure to stop here and check out this old cabin. George Washington has a lot of history in this area of Maryland. Unfortunately you can’t see the inside but I still enjoyed staring at it and daydreaming of life a couple hundred years ago. I’m happy the city moved this building and preserved it for future generations to enjoy.

I thought this was so cool when I was little but when we brought the kids to share this special historical place, we didn't stay long. There are vagrants in one of my photos a few yards out but still unwelcoming. Someone needs to check on this place as it looks like someone attempted to kick the door in. There are cardboard boxes flattened out for someone to sleep right on the side of the building. Someone is maintaining the landscape nicely but needs security.

If you are a fan of history and happen to be in Western Maryland this is a nice stop to make. There isn't much to see except for the exterior of the cabin and a lit statue of Washington's bust in the window. You cannot go into the cabin at this time. It is a very pretty area though and it is located near Emanuel Parish which was built on top of Old Fort Cumberland. There are also tunnels underneath the parish nearby that were used for the Underground Railroad. Washington's headquarters itself was a bit underwhelming, but still a nice place to visit
Matt Robinson — Google review
This is a historic site. George Washington used this post at the time of war. This is a small lag cabin and you have to make an appointment to see from inside. You can go there in any time 24/7 and watch from outside. There is no parking space in here. You can spend max half an hour over there. Enjoy.

It's a very neat part of history, too bad the city doesn't take care of it and it's basically become a homeless encampment
Kay Marie — Google review
An excellent preservation of the headquarters George Washington used inside Fort Cumberland. Previously relocated outside of Cumberland and then reassembled on this site. Even when it's not open to the public, there's a historical message one can access and listen to that is very informative about Washington's visits to the Cumberland area and use of this cabin. Very well done!
John Knippenberg — Google review
The George Washington Headquarters is an interesting stop along the Cumberland trail. There is a fair amount of information along the way.
The headquarters themsleves are rather small and you can't go inside to see what it may have been like to live back then and I couldn't get the audio to work to explain his story, though it worked a bit for someone else when I'd gone on to see another part of the trail.
It's worth stopping as you walk the trail through the history of Cumberland and learn about the C&O canal and trains, the role Cumberland played in history and just get some excercise while taking in some beautiful and intersting sites and knowlwdge.
Bowen Butler (The Whitaker Review) — Google review
Display was nice if a bit limited. It's basically an electronic display in a small window of the cabin. The various display items are interesting. It looks like there's more to the museum inside including a bed and figure in historical garb. Didnt see anyway to get better look inside however.
It would be helpful if the volume of the speakers and/or the clarity of the recording was improved.
It's in an odd place at the corner of a main road, so parking isnt intuitive.
Also, the small grassy area to the right looks to have become a hang out spot for some unhoused folks. A few were sleeping there. Feel for them, but it does put you on edge bringing younger kids there.

An interesting look into the history of the area. While it was not open it was fun. No parking location around the house, but easily walkable from the city parking across the river.

Just a small historic home that Washington stayed in. It has a recording that provides some little information about Washington and about the area.
I recently visited the Cumberland Theatre for their Christmas show, which was my third time attending. The overall production was exceptional as always, but one drawback is that it can be quite crowded. Unfortunately, my cousin had an unfortunate incident where someone behind her spilled wine on her head while trying to find their seat. On a positive note, I feel incredibly fortunate to have three of my grandkids participating in the play! In my opinion, the entire production was outstanding and deserves a perfect rating of 5.
Went to see the Margaritaville play. It was great setting and easy to check in. Everyone was very nice.

Cumberland Narrows is a popular destination for scenic drives and enjoying the autumn foliage. This forested passageway serves as a water gap that separates two mountains, providing a breathtaking view of nature's wonders. The rocky terrain and lush vegetation create an enchanting atmosphere, making it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking or birdwatching. While some may indulge in delicious chili dogs during their visit, many come to appreciate the beauty of this natural wonderland.
The experience of visiting Fort Cumberland Emporium, an antique store, was enjoyable. The conversations with the owner, who goes by the nickname "Pookie," were pleasant. The establishment itself was well-organized and maintained in a clean condition. It offered a wide range of crafts and rare antique items. The staff members were friendly and made customers feel welcome. However, some visitors found the prices to be on the higher side.
We really enjoy antique shops. This one is great, and we got lucky. The woman minding this shop on this day was Meg, an artist with pieces in the shop. She was engaging and laid back. And she happily answered the multitude of questions our little one peppered us with. There were very expensive pieces but also a lot of great deals. We got wonderful pieces to use for our next family tea. The trip was thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend.

I adore this library system. Among all the places I've resided, the locations are tremendously convenient and the assortment of titles is remarkable for a compact area. I appreciate the fact that one can borrow not only books but also movies and music, as well as request books that are not currently available in the system. The staff members are extremely welcoming and helpful. The book selection is excellent, with an opportunity to purchase books from their dedicated section. This was a great little library. Centrally located with easy parking and in a very cute part of town.
Staff was relatively helpful. I had some issues reserving a room, but the librarian on duty was very accommodating when the system wasn't quite working right. The wifi works well and there are a number of cozy places to sit and read or do work.
While there was only one conference room you could realistically have a call or meeting in, there is also a nice study corner that was a very productive place for me to work.
All in all the library is well laid out, with a separate children's section away from the more quiet study and work areas. Note that the study/conference room is right next to the children's area. But the door is relatively insulated and the fact that children might be noisy nearby makes one less likely to feel bad about having an animated phone call or meeting.

I love this library system. Of all the places I have lived, the locations are the most convenient and the selection of titles is impressive for an area this size. The Windsor Castle Events Centre is a fantastic location for hosting your special occasion. It boasts a superb setting and employs skilled culinary experts who prepare top-notch cuisine. Whether you prefer hors d'oeuvres, a self-serve meal, or a formal dinner, they have various options to cater to your needs. Additionally, if alcohol is desired, they can provide it as well.
I went here for a sports banquet. It was decorated beautifully, bathrooms are clean & friendly-professional staff. Im not sure what all Windsor Castle did & what the organization did so I dont want to rave too much about the delicious variety of food. I don't know who to credit that too. The staff served us buffet style. Very impressive location. Highly recommend for large groups.

Very nice venue for your special event. They have professional chef on Staff and the food is high class. They offer appetizers, a buffet or sit down meal. They can serve alcohol if needed. The prices do seem a little on the high end foe the Cumberland area but for what you get it must certainly be worth it.

The hall's air conditioning couldn't begin to keep up with the unusually hot weather the day we were there, so we were uncomfortable for most of the time. Food service was adequate, but not exceptional. I don't know what other options exist in the area for a group of 200, but I recommend exploring them if you are hosting a special event.

Decorative ceiling drapes have rips in them, are old and dingy, and are unevenly spaced. Upstairs walkway is full of junk that's clearly visible from the main floor and gives weird "school gym" vibes. There are box fans and window AC units all throughout the space. The AC can't support a building of that size. Doesn't look great on the inside and isn't comfortable to be in. Just looks somewhat cool from the outside.

I have performed here with a live band on several occasions. Easy load in and out, ample stage space for a four piece act and no power supply issues. The stage is about four feet high from the ground so you do have to lug equipment up some stairs. It is a fine venue for a variety of events and the staff is courteous too.
