The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ganjuran has been built in the Javanese style since 1925 and boasts unique statues of both Jesus and the Virgin Mary. Despite being crowded on weekdays, visitors come to pray and engage in religious activities. The church building is frequently used for prewedding photoshoots, but there are also facilities available for bathing in holy water and a small shop where you can purchase rosaries.
We have church with a temple beside it, it shows how the tolerance exist since a long ago, and how the religion united with the culture. You will feel peace.
I grew up here.
The initial building wasn't a Joglo, the construction and the design has been renewed after the earthquake destroy my church.
The previous church has built by an England family in 19th century, they had sugar manufacture, they built schools too for the pribumi.
But unfortunately in 2006 May we had earthquake which destroy our church and most of house & building in Bantul and many of peoples died, that was horrible.
After that, we collect the budget to rebuild our church, it took a several times so we could rebuild and redesign the church.
But nothing happen with the temple, we called it Hati Kudus Tuhan Yesus Temple.
Come and see and feel it, you will have 3in1 experiences π

A serene, peaceful sanctuary. Beautiful classic Javanese traditional architecture with a small Javanese temple structure on the church's grounds for solitary praying/meditation/reflection. A one of a kind place of worship originally built in 1924.

It was the first place that I visited after my Catholic baptism. I can only describe it in one word, beautiful, how the local culture is embedded in the whole church. It was so peaceful to pray accompanied by the sound of gamelan. Complete facilities and surrounded by the hospitality of local people and local culture.

What becomes the main attraction is the temple of sacred heart which is devoted to Jesus Christ. Though the temple itself is a small one but it's unique: Hindu influenced relic but used by Catholic who still practise Javanese tradition.

Can't get inside of the church building bcs people use it for prewed, you can take a bath in some "holy" water bathroom (?) and also lot's people queuing for praying in front of stupa(?). Also there's small shop inside where you can buy some rosary and all...

The most quiet and comfortable place to pray. The weather is very shady because there are many trees here. Don't forget to go up to the temple of the Sacred Heart of the Lord Jesus to pray directly there. Usually, if you come here, don't forget to buy milk (the store is located to the left of the temple).

Looking for a place for self healing?? Seribu Batu Songgo Langit is definitely the spot to visit.
Upon entering the place you will immediately get positive vibes from this place. The soothing hum of the forest insects in a way calms your soul and put yourself in relax manner. Your eyes will soon be pampered with the lush of greenery that surround this area.
Nevertheless, the real treat is just 30 minutes leisure walk to the top of the mountain where you will feast upon miles and miles of nature's emerald beauty.
For selfie lovers and photo addicts, no worries there are plenty of spots for you to go trigger happy.
The forest is truly amazing, but you will surely fall in love with the top of the mountain. It provided several spots at the edge of the cliff to enjoy the breath-taking scenery, as well as gazing at the vast surrounding forest below while letting the soothing breeze caress your hair and cheeks.
For those who crave for more adventurous trip, you should take a jeep tour that will certainly pump the adrenaline to your blood system in no time.

Mangunan Fruit Garden, located in the Bantul area 35 km away from the city center, is a popular tourist attraction where visitors can learn about various types of fruits. Although it may not have as many fruits as expected, the park offers beautiful scenery and multiple photo opportunities. The best time for taking pictures is around 8 AM or before sunset. Additionally, this park is situated near Puncak Becici's pine forest providing an excellent opportunity to explore nature.
It is absolute beautiful and magical place when you get the perfect time and occasion to come here.
There many photo spot that beautiful and you can choose the spot that not too crowded.
The road trip to this place also has amazing view.
If you wanna get this ocean of clouds view you must either come very early (like 4 in the morning) or come when in rainy season, because the cloud will hang much longer eventough sun is already high.

Best time to visit is during the sunrise, when the clouds are forming. The way the clouds flow through the river canyon is simply breathtaking. Despite the name there are no fruit related things that I'm aware of.
Toilets are free and clean, but located up above the viewpoints, near the parking lot.

You can reach this place by following google maps, but since its not located on the main road, its a bit difficult to find. The road is small, and in middle of forest/village.
The first time I visit this place is back in 2014, when the place is still rather empty, and there's not many vendors on the site. And now in 2021, so many things change. Like now there's proper stairs, some street vendors, and new ornament in the site. Parking lot is wide and you need be careful if you bring your vehicle since the road is a bit extreme and uphill.
Toilet just okay, but need more improvement. Ticket is cheap and on budget.
So many benches and gazebos for visitor to sit around the site, and the scenery is beautiful. Better to visit the place around afternoon, and early in the morning, cause the view and the sky would be rather beautiful at those hours. Also, be careful when you take photos because it located in a hill, and some path would be a bit slippery after raining.
During covid19, the place still open, but its not that crowded.

We have been here a few times, a bit disappointed since we've never seen any fruit in season. Also there's no more flowers. Most people visit Mangunan for the view. There are some cottages available to relax, have coffee and snacks while enjoying the nice view and cool climate. It opens from 5AM to catch the sunrise, and then later in the afternoon. There are some food stalls (warung) to get some fried snacks and drinks. The place is relatively clean, but there's always some uncivilized visitors who throw/left trash along the walkways.

Unfortunately, we came here at the time it was under construction. Only a few spots are available for taking pictures.
Upgrading the site is what this place really needs. It has the potential to be a 5-star tourist site. Love the scenary from up here and the natural environment of pine trees are so refreshing.

Went there for New Year's and was amazed by the view. I was also amazed at how many tokay gecko's were on the deck eating the flying ants near the source of light. Bathroom underneath the glamping cabin was clean. Was quite difficult to sleep in that situation, and my body did feel quite itchy afterwards, maybe it was just me being paranoid but it also might just be the fact that it's outdoors.

It is a long drive on an adventurous road if you are coming from Yogyakarta. But if you like a quiet spot in nature it is worth coming here. On weekdays it is usually not crowded and very enjoyable. There are photo spots available and some may like those. But the view over the valley is probably the best. You may also find a lot of butterflies if you visit. Sturdy shoes might be of benefit.

Camp ground with great view and calm atmosphere. Best way to healing if you dont want to wander too far from city.
Theres several facilities available in this place. They have multiple large camp ground, sky deck, large comunal area beside sky deck, multiple toilet building, a musholla, large parking area, a canteen and also several glamping site, but i rather get a tent to camp here as the other facilities share with each other. Not so glamours if you asked me.
Access road is easy but beware if you use google map, do not take the route coming from the north as you will pass cinomati area. I recommend you take the route from the south passing imogiri area as the road is easier to pass for most vehicle. Also avoid night trip because there is no street light along the way. And im not recommend you to came here on weekend/holiday as the place can be quite crowded on weekend/holiday.

Located in very high place, getting here with car is a challenge. But its worth all the effort. Suggest the visit around sunrise or sunset to get the best view. I cant remember how much to enter this place but its very cheap during week days. They have big aesthetic Mosque, so you can pray when the time came. They have couple "Waroeng" with reasonable price. I suggest you take some coffee and snacks prior entering the area, so you can enjoy the scenery while having coffee and snacks. They also have some glamping and campings you can rent as well. There is coffee shop in the area but was closed during our visit.

Located in the upper ridge of Imogiri, this place already representating the Gunung Kidul highland. Best place for family escape, take a glamping tent and stay overnight among the breeze air and shades of pine trees. We can witness the citylights of Yogyakarta, in the distance...

A good place to visit if breathtaking view is your thing. They also have a camping ground with several semi permanent dome tents by the cliff, overloking the valley below.
Toilets are quite good, but the maintenance could be improved.

Good tourism spot for anyone who likes view from high ground. It's similar to Bukit Becici, but less crowded (when I visited). It also has a camping ground, which is quite nice for the fresh air and the quiet atmosphere.
Grand Puri Waterpark, located near Gabusan, offers an affordable and family-friendly experience. With an Olympic pool, kids' pool, slides, and a current pool, it provides ample entertainment for children. The water park is popular during the hottest dry season as it offers a refreshing escape with plenty of splash. However, some visitors have noted that the chlorine levels in the water are too high and can cause discomfort to the eyes.
Nice place, price very low. It is not allowed to bring own food or drink. Very nice day. You can eat on the area of the park.

Men cannot use any type of cloth except swim clothes, while women are allowed to. Double standard. Not such a deal for regular people but something to be considered for people which has bad-looking back/body such a body acne. I consider as a body shaming activity are allowed in this place even when i explained them about my condition they will never let me in to the pool. I paid for nothing.

It's a nice swimming pool, but the water on the pool is not clear as i have visited before. I don't know how many times the pool will be cleaned in regular basis though.
The prices is good, 35k in weekend for 1 person above 1 years old.
There are some water slides and water playground.
There is also cafetaria but the prices is rather high than normal price, around 1,5-2 times than normal.
The parking lot is huge, it has space for more than a dozen of bus.

The area features rough roads and benches for resting, but also provides perfect spots for taking photos with its giant artificial birds' nest and various props. Though it may be challenging to reach, the inexpensive entry fee makes it worth visiting. For optimal foggy views, visitors are encouraged to arrive early in the morning.

Temporarily closed but major renovations are in progress including new selfie photo spots, an exclusive camping and glamping area, new benches and new bathrooms on a wide karst cliff over the River Oya canyon. A nice spot for sunset enthusiasts. The existing facilities in the front area (restrooms, a modern cafe, a musholla, a parking lot for motorbikes and cars) need to be cleaned.

Goa Selarong is a natural sanctuary that boasts of winding stone steps, caves for contemplation, cascading waterfalls, an exhibition hall and spots for outdoor dining. The preserve's terrain is unspoiled by human activity and offers an immersive experience in nature. Visitors can explore the varied flora and fauna while taking in the idyllic surroundings. The preserve provides ample opportunities to unwind amidst its tranquil environment with features like meditation caves and picnic areas.
The cave is pretty small, so I think the waterfall is more interesting. The place is quite relaxed, not many tourists, and beautiful nature.

Could be better.
Can be improved: We had good time there but to be honest, there were not much to see. The signs are in bad conditions, some are torn, not readable, or not informative at all. The paths are not well maintained and it can be dangerous like missing or shaky railings. It could be a good educative place if it's handled properly.
The good: admission price is to be adjusted to 10K (rupiah) per person, the sign is there but the gatekeeper let us know we only need to pay old price for now (6K) which is a rare level of honesty. The parking fee for car is 10K which is reasonable.
There are charming local fruit stall and they didn't jack up the price. It's good to support local and honest seller. Everyone is friendly there, so hopefully the government will improve the place soon to attract more visitors as the livelihood of these people rely on this destination.
When I was there, the place was clean, no rubbish.

A historical site on the Selarong Hills in Guwosari, Pajangan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. It used to be a command base for the epic fight in the so-called Java War led by Prince Diponegoro against the Dutch (1825-1830). On a high cliff there are two cool separate caves as emergency rooms for gents and ladies, which can be reached by walking some from the parking lot up through concrete wide steps. Next to the gents cave there is a cool waterfall which flows in the rainy season, and on a lower height there is a children playground. On my last visit several years ago, the East side next to the ladies cave was damaged due a light landslide. A clean mosque not far from the entrance gate.

Historical cave which has used by Pangeran Diponegoro and his family for hiding during the war in Yogyakarta.
This place consist of two main cave, for Diponegoro's family hiding and the other troops for gerilya's tactic.
The caves are under a big tree with sturdy root. On the side of tree there two waterfalls and river.
This place is a good for family picnic because of its nature with historical value inside.

One of many beach near samas, the beach itself is pretty crowded. There is a few street vendors that sell food or snacks on the beach side. Also there is a lighthouse near this beach, so it can be an excellent photo spot. Sadly, this beach is not well maintained, trash is everywhere, people who visitted this beach have no responsibility at all, leavinv trash trail everywhere they go.
One of many cycling destination if you want to go south from yogyakarta. The street to go to the beach is good, all asphalt with pretty good street (no broken road). You can rest and grab a breakfast on the street vendor on the beach side.

One of beautiful beach in Bantul with pine forest along its side. There is a viewing post and we were permitted to going up with 5k idr. It's a 8 storey building that consists of 7 spiral stairs and 1 straight one in the top. If you're phobia of heights, don't go there, it was little scary when you look down especially going up with that kind of stairs. This building was not clean, many of birds droppings was in every floor. Some of stairs looks rusty, we need to be careful when going up or down.

Dragon fruit garden is located in front of the beach, free to explore it and if you want to pick/harvest the fruits you need to pay IDR 15.000 per Kilogram. Don't forget to ask cutter or something like scissors and traditional bag before entering the garden if you need it.
