The Washoe Club Museum & Saloon is a famous establishment dating back to 1862, known for its rich history and paranormal activities. The museum portion of the venue features exhibits showcasing its intriguing past, while ghost tours provide visitors with a firsthand experience of the supernatural. Tickets are priced at $8 per person, which also provides a $1 discount on drinks purchased from the saloon's bar.
Great place if you are into haunted places and paranormal stuff. Tickets are $8 and tours start every hour, as for now the last one was at 5pm but better call them to double check. Ticket give you 1$ off drinks at the bar

A fun place to visit and get some history and a drink. Very dog friendly. Two dollars or a drink will get you access to the museum in back, along with the crypt. They also have a full tour of all floors available to purchase.

Great place to grab a drink and take a haunted tour! Our tour guide was really informative and had great personal photos and audio to share with us. You get $1 off your beverage at the bar if you show them your tour tickets.

Very cool place to stop by. Drinks were good and cheap, but the tour was the neat thing. Interesting history and the tour was done well. I'd recommend checking it out if you're into history or ghost things.

What an incredible place. Hanging out at the bar is a great experience. The ghost tours are definitely worth it. 30 to 40 minutes upstairs on the second and third floor and more.

Outstanding place to visit while in Virginia city. For ten bucks of so you get access to the whole place to explore and take it all in. This place is one hundred percentage creepy. The third floor is possible the most haunted of the whole building. Fun for the whole family , no doubt about it!

I wish I took pictures but I did an overnight there. I caught spirits. Haunted but good people. Haha. The people that work there. So friendly and nice. The people in Virgina City are just nice in general. I'm coming back for that drink though.

Took the tour it was very informative but stay with the group because getting off on your own is spooky.
My wife took a picture in the mirror and swears she caught a shadow figure behind the door.
Blow up the pic and see what you think!

Great place to have a drink then do the tour. Keep in mind you can see the museum, spiral staircase, and stone room (crypt) in the back without doing the tour. Tour was worth the $10 but might be a bit unexciting for those that don't buy into the whole ghost/supernatural thing. If you are tight on time (or money) and aren't a Ghost enthusiast, you wouldn't be sorry you missed the tour but otherwise I'd say it's definitely in the top 4 things to do in this little historic town.
Tour guide was informative but definitely was catering to the Ghost Hunter Crowd but I refrained from asking hard questions in order to not impede on the other people's enjoyment. Kids in the group loved it. In the Winter, bundle up as the tour is in the unheated area of the building. Didn't eat here but bar service was great.

First time doing a ghost tour and it’s very disappointing. Unknowledgeable and rude ghost tour host who is pushing you through the rooms quickly while telling you that she has a time limit. There was a total of 5 of us and 3 people at the bar. Rude bartender. I’m sensitive to spirits and didn’t pick up anything. The scariest part of the tour was the unsafe conditions of the building. It would have been more interesting learning more about the building. The history of the Crypt was very interesting otherwise just another want to be haunted tourist trap building.

LOVED it! Very cool, with LOTS of history to it. It was even on the program "Ghost Adventures."

A definite stop if you are a paranormal fan. The tour was entertaining and allowed you to roam around. You were free to take photos, record video and basically anything paranormal related. Our tour guide was really nice and knew interesting tidbits. Afterwards we went to the museum where ghost adventures played on a loop. Visit the bar and spend time talking to the bartender. She is an incredibly nice person and is willing to share her experiences at the Washoe. I had a blast and really enjoyed myself. The tour costs $10 and occurs every hour and ends in the museum. The museum is $2 but if you are drinking they let you in.

This was a really fun saloon. The bartender was really nice. And the drinks were well made. I did not go on the ghost tour, but the museum was fun all be it small. The museum is free with a drink purchase or $2 a person. I did like how clean the bathroom was.
Beautiful Church beautifully located you can not asked for more seeing all the views behind. Also, all the interior all the woodwork such as benches rails, divisions pillars and sealing are absolutely beautiful plus all the stain glass windos amazing. Also, a person at the church store is a very nice, pleasant man can share some information about the town.

Of all the tours we did in Virgina City Pat our tour guide at St. Mary's museum, was by far the most knowledgeable. He also does tours at the Sutro Tunnel. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. The church is beautiful and very peaceful. Since Virginia City was full of Irish Catholic minners the churches history is really a great place to get a history of the city.

This church is gorgeous inside and out. I loved the ceiling beams the most. The wood beams are really a work of art. There's a gift shop at the entrance where you can buy postcards or candles to light. A museum in the basement that's really cool to see with a lot of old photos and memorabilia.

The Mackay Mansion Museum is a Victorian estate constructed by Hearst in 1859, furnished with original pieces from that era and reputed to be haunted. It's a must-visit destination priced at $7 per ticket, although it may not be suitable for visitors who cannot navigate the three flights of narrow stairs within. The museum boasts an impressive history, and visitors can engage their tour guide Meghan in conversations regarding its past.
We did the paranormal investigation and during the day did the history tour. If I could give a higher rating I would. Both were outstanding! I had Dawn, I think that was her name, she did both tours for me. I'm going to break both down.
The history museum tour is great for the family or just on your own. Tons of facts and beautiful antiques. It was very engaging and entertaining. Very informative.
The paranormal investigation that I did, she gave us tools to use that we handled directly so you could tell and see what they did and didn't do. We were given history information and shown photos and videos that were taken there. There definitely was a decent amount of activity I got to experience and some that others experienced. It was NOT threatening in anyway it was very playful and the tour guide made me feel so at home and comfortable.

Very interesting place to visit. We have such a great time. The person there who helped this in the guidance through the Mackey house was very knowledgeable could have used a little bit more information. But was all good like to see if it would open up a little bit more with stuff. I would go back to see it again. Me and my wife enjoyed it very much.

This is place Is absolutely beautiful. There's so many historical items here in this Manson. The first in door bathroom is pretty cool! There's a toilet in it that has so much gold leaf on it that it's worth over 10k. The tour guide( im so sorry I forgot your name) really did an amazing job. She was so full of information and ypu could tell she genuinely loved what she did. The grounds are stunning. There are ghost tours that I can't wait to go on especially after seeing the photos of ghosts they saw on rhe property . It's really interesting. This is one of the last homes that do these tours and they really count on locals and tourists to help maintain this beautiful historical land mark. If you haven't been or its been awhile please go take a tour and help keep this part of history alive

This was an amazing tour of this famous Mansion that Ghost Adventures has even done an episode on. The host of the tour was well knowledgeable & made you feel immersed in the story of the house. After a brief tour with her, you are free to roam around the mansion (with few restrictions) to see the rooms on your own. It's certain a fun thing to do, & that entire little town is full of so much history & stuff to explore. Will certainly go back for the paranormal tour, next time I'm back in Nevada.

There is incredible history, ask questions my tour guide Meghan was AWESOME answered every question I had, there are photographs around ask questions about them as there is some interesting history on some of the relationships from back then. A famous actor spent 1 night there and was scared from his bed by a small child's ghost. I definitely recommend.

Mackay Mansion is a beautiful mansion replete with many of the original furnishings which makes it fairly unusual. Dawn provided an excellent guided tour and several pictures of ghosts to share. This mansion has a lot of great history and should be at the top of places to see in Virginia City!

Beautiful mansion, closely linked to the families Hearst, McKay and a bunch of ghosts. Yes, there are a lot of them there and as a proof, there are a lot of pictures shown at the very good and informativ guided tour. When Johnny Depp was shooting "Dead Man", he stayed there quite a time. Since then he belived in paranormal activity. You can also see his filmcostume in the bedroom. Admission is 8 Dollar, really very worth it!

The guide was excellent, sharing historical and paranormal information about the three story home. One of the few times I wished for more guided tour, but the guide leaves the guest(s) to own devices upon examining the bedrooms. I would have loved to learn about the dining room/kitchen, though the DR was staging for Halloween and the kitchen nowhere to be seen.
I also would have loved to meet Emma, but one needn't spend their afterlife catering to the livings' whims. We'll be joining them soon enough.

So much history, class, stories, objects to admire in this building. Fantastic tour guides and I love the fact that this mention was purchased by private party to save it and to give it a life it deserves.
Imagine being in a building where Thomas Edison himself converted gas lamps into electrical one. Or how about mirror with diamonds inside of it?
I so appreciated learning about John MacKay, his wife, kids, history of gaining and loosing fortunes. Wild West at its best. Highly recommend

The Virginia City Visitor Center is a great place to star a visit of the Old Western cute gold mining town Virginia with many of its original buildings still standing today. You can easily spend a full day visiting the many bars, restaurants, candy and souvenir stores along the Main Street and many original homes from the time. There are many details to pay attention to while strolling the old western style wooden sidewalks. People are generally friendly, but the city can be crowded on weekends and holidays. By all means worth a visit while in Nevada.

Love the place! Its like taking you back from old country ... nice people. Lots of shops to get souvenirs. Ice cream in waffle cone is the best to beat the heat. Dont forget to stop by and buy sweets before you leave. They have ATM machines. Please donate when u use their bathroom to keep the area nice and clean. But we find one rude grumpy male parking attendant. It was a nice experience.

Barney Fife cops in the town with nothing to do but give out parking tickets for $195. Evidently they voted to charge this absolutely ridiculous amount of money just recently and low and behold the cops are now all over town looking for tiny infractions to raise revenue, praying on tourists struggling to find a parking spot. When I returned to my car the guy next to me who also had a ticket pointed at mine. We both tried to figure out what we had done wrong because it didn't say "No Parking". There was around 12 cars with parking tickets just in that general area. They were also camped out at each end of the town nailing anyone driving in above the 20mph limit which drops well before you get into the town. Total speed trap. This is a tiny town and yet the cops were all over the place looking for any tiny thing a tourist might do wrong. You want to cost the businesses in your town tourism then this is the way to do it. I used to take visiting friends and family to see the town all the time. Never again!

The town was so cute and full of fun shops. Very interesting if you’re a history/mining buff like me and my husband. Everyone was very friendly except the lady at the Visitors center. This town is amazing. So much history and beautiful scenery! People are friendly and service everywhere is awesome!
Silver Terrace Cemetery in Virginia City is a grand and historic burial ground that reflects the opulence of the town's past. Divided into sections based on social class and race, it holds the remains of miners and prominent figures from the 1800s. The elaborate headstones and ornate cast-iron fences showcase the wealth of this former mining town. Visitors can explore unique pre-1900 headstones while taking in panoramic views of Virginia City.
AMAZING!! So interesting to see al the history, old graves, old headstones, things made out of wood bleaching in the sun & snow. Fascinating and definite place to visit when in Virginia City.
Mike “CrowMike” — Google review
The rich history here is awesome and so are the views! Walking around is a little challenging, more so for us older folks (uneven, gravel/dirt, aged broken grave markers and headstones) and no easy way to get to other areas since they block off the drive down. Would have loved to be able to see some of the other areas but the heat of the day, distance plus slopes made it too hard to visit those.
Jay Lo-Rain — Google review
The Silver Terrace Cemetery in Virginia City is a cool older cemetery with quite a few pre-1900 unique headstones. Likely will spend 20-30 minutes here walking around the cemetery reading a few of the headstones. There are some cool and custom headstones and some great views of Virginia City as well.
Brendan Kiely — Google review
This cemetery is a must see if you are in Virginia City. It is massive and has a large number of interesting monuments. On the gate there is a sign informing of an app you can download with narrative about people who are buried there, their lives, and the cemetery itself. I could only get it to work intermittently, but what little I could get was fascinating. You might even see a wild horse wandering through.
David Meyer — Google review
Dry, dusty and visible from much of Virginia City, the Silver Terrace Cemeteries are the final resting place for many of the city's movers and shakers, knowns and unknowns. Many of the dates on the stones are quite close together - Living in the west in the 1800s did not contribute to extended life expectancies.
The majority of people buried here were miners in the Comstock Lode and their family members. Headstones date back to the 1880s. There are technically eleven cemeteries here that were established by Catholics, Masons and other religious* and fraternal groups. Over time, they've sort of merged and are now known as the Silver Terrace Cemeteries.
Back in the day, it was once described as the "loveliest burial grounds in the State of Nevada" but times have changed and decay has been rampant. The ground is extremely uneven. It's sandy, rocky and not level. There is a lot of overgrowth and broken cement. There are paths to walk along but you need to be on the lookout for wildlife. I would not recommend open toed shoes and consider boots if possible. It is not handicapped accessible.
Bruce K. — Google review
I felt goosebumps while exploring this place. The stench of the dead wafts in the air. It’s one of the most beautiful cemetery I visited mostly families of miners were buried here according to their religion. Most tombstones dated back in the 18th century.

Loved this creepy old cemetery. This is in Virginia City just outside of Reno and well worth the drive up the mountain to visit it and the city for a day trip. Most of the graves were from the 1800's which adds to the creepy factor for some reason. I don't think I would want to visit this place after dark though!
James Sommers — Google review
I'm one who stops on a cemetery every city i visit. While its really unfair to compare to the much older cemetaries on the east coast, this one still held some unique charm. It isn't very big, probably able to haphazardly peruse and walk through in 30 minures. Uneven and gravel filled terrain with no delineated plots. There's an 1.5 hour audio tour that can be downloaded through the app store and a brochure outside the gate. I wished all cemetaries were as informative.
Jeanette — Google review

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Virginia City and remember to bring cash for a discount!

Very cool museum! While we were here there was a couple who had taken a picture of this building and they saw faces in a window on the second floor. They believed they were ghosts and we all went to the room where the ghosts supposedly were and she said she felt heavy and had goosebumps. I saw the picture it was like a grey shape ... I don't know. I felt fine though. It's fun to think about! Besides that there is a lot of history about the school and you can see their writing on the walls and desks. We liked it. 👍

This is a beautiful historical building that I was excited to check out. They need to fix the elevator as it being out of service was a distressing surprise for members of my group with limited mobility.

The history of the building and the town are really cool, to learn that rolling out the red carpet comes from this place is amazing. If you can check out the old building.

Went to see the Mark Twain Christmas play. I love the history, ambiance, and people of Virginia City. It is a great day trip from Reno.

We toured the opera house and it was very interesting 🤔. We highly recommend it. Our tour guide was great 👍.
Step into the historic Delta Saloon, a Virginia City landmark since 1865. This iconic establishment is renowned for its infamous Suicide Table and serves up hot food, cold drinks, and good times in an authentic Old West setting. As the hub of Virginia City's nightlife and entertainment scene, the saloon hosts live music performances, spooky ghost tours, and city-wide festivals throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy live music while sipping on spicy Bloody Marys and indulging in popcorn.
Great place just so you can tell everyone you had a drink in an authentic saloon.

This historical saloon has been closed for awhile.
The owner has had problems with the ngc, liquor licensing, and what I understand the local government.
Last information I had heard was that it went up for auction awhile ago, but it still sits vacant. A very sad situation for Virginia city.

Mediocre food. Slow service. Stood waiting at host stand forever before having to track someone down. Window seats beset by flies.
Don't eat here, just go check out the suicide table and eat else where.

In a time where we are expected to recieve slow and poor service, Jamie is a breath of fresh air! Awesome server, she is everything that was pre Covid "norm" ! Thank you Jamie for making our day, despite that fact that you were short handed and busy, you handled it well with a smile, good attitude and above expectations!

It was permanently closed and there was no indication on their website to that effect. I even made a reservation on their website and did not receive any reply that they were closed.

Live music and spicy Bloody Mary and popcorn on demand. The place is hysterical and historical. Turned out some patrons were from a local history society and dressed in 1850s to enjoy the music. A real experience.

This place has a great historical atmosphere. I've been here a few times over the years and they have always had decent food and been relatively friendly. If you go there during the hottest part of summer, it is a nice way to get out of the heat for a bit and relax. The menu as of last check was reasonable and the staff did a good job keeping the place clean.
I've enjoyed my visits here. It does usually take a bit to get your order, particularly if you are there in the off season, but that is likely because they do not have as much staff. Overall, a good place to go.
We've lived here for 16 yrs and finally made it inside the museum. It's very nicely set up with engines of various ages and the displays are informative. During those years I've known many people working there but never went in! Go inside and make a donation.

Every single time I have gone to the Storey County Courthouse I have been helped with quick, efficient, and knowledgeable staff.
I have gone in for my DMV registration, transfer of ownership‘s, license renewals, etc... Their DMV is awesome!
I’ve gone in to the court clerks office and have had amazing help from everybody in the office.
Honestly, I can’t say enough good about this Department Cluster!!!
Cluster, (i.e., Multiple Departments in one location!)
Small town living is a blessing!🥰
This place is now closed as of the end of 2017. There are still some historical plaques outside of where the musuem was located. Worth seeing if you like Mark Twain and are in Virgina City!

Hard to believe that Twain's old desk during his stint in Virginia City is in the basement of a dark and dank old building....but I guess it's true. Why isn't this in the Smithsonian? Hey 5 bucks and you can see it plus some other things Twain touched. Now that is a bargain!
