The trip on the boat to the island was almost as fun as the clambake. But not quite...the clams were fresh and tasty, and the lobster was great, and cooked just right! Blueberry cake was to die for!!

They 1st take you out on a boat ride and tell you all about the different islands that they have out there then they take you to the island and you can sit anywhere you want inside outside then you walk down to get your dinner which was an absolute fabulous Meal including dessert It was one of the best trips we ever took the people are so friendly so nice. Make sure you book weeks ahead of time because they do fill up fast.

Dinner is 2 whole lobsters, clams, corn on the cob, baked potato, boiled egg, cooked onion, and of course butter for the lobster. Excellent dinner. Food is cooked at the shore. You can look around the island for a bit before you eat. Blueberry cake for dessert is to die w!

After coming to this place I have gone to different places in ME but they are short to compete, and even the onions were amazing and let's talk about the lobster there must exist another word after wow to describe it. Definitely I strongly recommend this place and of course I will come back. The people of the tour 10 stars. Good job everybody.
Love the small venue with dinner and a fabulous Broadway Show! $60 for dinner and show! I love seeing anything here!!! The cast was funny and entertaining. The manager, Paulette, was accompanying and friendly. They love their customers. This is a hidden jem and a best kept secret in Boothbay Harbor Region. The recent show is for the 70's. Nice to see 2 cast members come back for another year!

We came in for 39 Steps and dessert. The show was amazing the performers are the waiters, waitresses, and bar tender. We had the chocolate torte and the strawberry shortcake both were really good. The performers/
Waitstaff also sang periodically during the pre show. The show was a non typical theatrical performance with a great deal of audience participation. You sit in a row of other dinner guests and they are friendly and very talkative. It is a place that makes you feel like you are a regular from the moment you walk in. If you are looking for something to do in Boothbay this should be at the top of your list.

The musically show was super. The food needs a lot of help. Sandwich was very cold and not a lot of chicken salad less then 2 ounces could of had a better bread. Soup was warm and I had no potatoes or clams in my soup just broth mainly. Carrot Cake was good.

The food was ok, however the actors and the show were fantastic. It was a great experience. I would recommend it to others. In this show they interacted with the audience, which added to the experience. Would I return again? Absolutely. Would I recommend it? Yes

Went to see the Marvelous Wonderettes and what a great performance it was! The actors came on stage and sang during dinner and even sang to celebrate anniversary's and birthday's of the guests. They interacted with the audience and also served as wait staff! The food was delicious and so well prepared. I will definitely be back next year and highly recommend this to others!

Awesome experience at Carousel! You instantly feel welcomed by the entire staff and I enjoyed my meal (chowder, pulled pork sandwich, and carrot cake).
The show was really wonderful. The cast is so talented and you could see their love for the art in their performance.

This theater is a gem in the rough. Their latest production of You are a Good Man Charlie Brown is entertaining with fun musical numbers. It is a great family show!
Each actor gives a truly awesome performance and both adults and children in the audience appeared to be having a great time.
We enjoyed the new menu.
The selections were limited but were served quickly and the staff worked hard to meet each patrons requests.
The seating was better than average and the musical could be seen and heard by all. There are no bad seats in this theater.
This theater is a true gem!
A must go to if visiting Boothbay Harbor.
Local residents would be wise to support this attraction.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, We would give this theater a 9.
Bravo to the actors in this performance!

We attended for the first time enjoying an amazing dinner and show last night. The performers are extremely talented. If you're in the Boothbay area, it should be on your radar to catch a show.
Maine State Aquarium, which is open seasonally, showcases an impressive collection of marine life. Visitors can observe a lobster display and even have the opportunity to touch various sport fish in a touch tank. The aquarium also features educational experiences such as learning about the life cycle of lobsters and handling live ones. One of its most notable attractions is the 14lb Lobster Neptune display. Additionally, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views outside while still having fun inside at the aquarium.
Absolutely love this place! Check out the 14lb Lobster Neptune. The views outside are amazing and the Aquarium inside is so much fun to experience. Even for return trips. Didn't do everything available, but it's worth the drive.

Absolutely loved the Aquarium! We took our two boys ages 2 and 5. It was very reasonably priced at $17 to get in. They had alot more to look at than what was on their website. The boys absolutely loved the two dog sharks they had in the big touch tank. One of the staff members there was able to tell them just about everything there was to k ow about the sharks amd the egg sacks floating in the same tank. They had a huge 14lb Lobster my youngest absolutely loved. He was as big as my 2yo. Out side was many great places to have a picnic with amazing views of the ocean. A dock outside had various traps the kids could pull up with crabs inside. Highly recommend the Maine State Aquarium. I would ignor the website as there is much more to see once your there. Will definitely be returning next year.

Perfect for young visitors. It isn't huge, but it has two hands-on exhibits, including one with pet-able sharks. Also good info on local marine life.

My family and I had a great time here! It isn't very big, a place to spend either 30mins or a couple hrs. I do wish it were larger. The staff is very friendly and informative. Kids and adults of all ages can have a good time here. It's based on Maine ocean life and even though we are Mainahs we still learned a lot and the kids and adults have a wonderful time with the touch tanks.

Nice place, a lot of different lobsters. I was impressed by Netuno, it's a giant lobster!! And I was also able to pet the fish that was in the big tank on the middle of the aquarium. It's a nice ans small place, really fun for children.

We had a great visit recently with my almost-2-year old. We went at about 3 in the afternoon and crowds were thin which meant she had lots of room to run around. The staff was incredibly attentive and engaged her at both of the touch tanks. The grassy area outdoors has a beautiful view of Boothbay Harbor and is a great spot for a picnic.

Awesome displays of of Maine's Marine animals/fishes. Lobster displays were great. Grandkids had a great time at the lobster education center. Biologist did a demonstration of the lobsters life cycle. Even handling live lobsters was included. Fun and very educational time for us all

A fun day trip for a family with kids. It's a smallish aquarium with a lot of tanks filled with local marine animals...one of which I dubbed the "All American Tank" which had a red, white, and blue lobster in it. Who knew lobsters come in so many colors!
They also have a small lobster hatchery (an egg carton with a baby lobster in each egg spot) which I found out later they have to keep lobsters separated because lobsters are cannibals which I learned along with a lot of other interesting facts about lobsters and lobstering in a presentation they had in a separate building. I highly recommend you attend this. Kids will love it...lots of hands on.
They also have two touch tanks in the main building. One with sharks and the craziest lobster I have ever seen...multi-colored! I asked the girl working there where it came from and she said from right here and pointed out the window.(bar harbor) btw this is a beautiful location.
There is also a second touch tank that takes up the entire side of the room chock full of all sorts of sea creatures from scallops, clams, mussels, and more! Even sea cucumbers. There are guides there to answer all the questions the kids or you might have. I especially liked this and am not ashamed to say I had a few. Great Staff!
It's a little out of the way but if you like a scenic drive like I do, this is the place for you.
Btw I went with 5 ppl and admission $25.00 total
The Burnt Island Light park is a fascinating destination, featuring guided tours that offer an immersive experience of the 1800s lighthouse. Situated on a 5-acre island surrounded by wooded and coastal hiking trails, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the beautiful lighthouse from afar or by kayaking to its shores. The site's rich history is evident in each step taken while exploring the island's natural beauty and learning about its significance as a beacon for sailors navigating Maine's rocky coast.
Beautiful lighthouse just off the coast.

Beautiful island and views! We kayaked to the lighthouse through a kayak rental location in Boothbay Harbor. It took about 45 minutes to get out there and the same on the way back. We got there to see the grounds open to the public. However, the keepers buildings are ONLY open on Saturdays and Sundays for two hours each day. It would’ve been nice to know beforehand since the website didn’t disclose that info. Either way, we did enjoy our time on the island.

We kayaked to this island from Boothbay Harbor and it was one of the best experiences from our trip. While we weren’t able to tour the lighthouse and surrounding buildings (only open on certain days), we walked around the lighthouse and surrounding field. There were a public restroom and picnic tables as well.

BEWARE. GOOGLE directions are 100% INCORRECT. You cannot get to Burnt Island from Capitol Island nor can you see the Lighthouse from Capitol Island. You must use a private boat from BoothBay or other points or schedule a trip on “The Novelty” boat from BoothBay Harbor. DO NOT DRIVE ONTO CAPITOL ISLAND LOOKING FOR BURNT ISLAND. CAPITOL IS A SMALL PRIVATE ISLAND WITH A ONE WAY DIRT RD AND 10mph speed limit and not open to other than residents and guests.

You definitely can’t see the Burnt Island Light from Capitol Island. Maps is inaccurate in giving directions. Best seen from Spruce Point as the lighthouse is on the far side of the island! Access is via boat or kayak. Photo is from boat

I went there on the last week of July with my sister and a friend for the first time. I've been to Maine three times in the past. Even though it was stormy ahead the weather held off and it was a great time on the island. Staff was great. Especially Elaine. She gave us her contact info on the island so I could send her a check for a lighthouse jacket. Would definitely visit again!
As an avid Maine hiker I can’t say enough about these beautiful coastal trails! The Boothbay Region Land Trust (BRLT) maintains about 20 of these preserves located in Boothbay, Southport, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and includes preserves on three small islands. These trails are well marked, easy to follow, and provide free public parking. Very few of these trails provide restrooms. Trail navigation by foot ranges from easy to moderate. I love the blue green colors of the ocean water in this region; viewed from many of these trails. Scenery throughout these trails offer a wide variety of landscape including evergreen and deciduous forests, fields of wildflowers, marshes, beaches, rocky hills and cliffs, gorges, historical structures, etc. BRLT trails are teeming with wildlife including deer, waterfowl, seals. Overnight camping is not permitted. Tons of fishing opportunities accessible from many trails. Most of the footbridges and boardwalks are in excellent condition. Trailhead kiosks offer maps. Trail views of the Sheepscot, Ovens Mouth, and Damariscotta Rivers are gorgeous.

One of the cool things about Oak Point Farm is that when the pond freezes over in the early winter, its a great place to go skating. And there are several other things about the Oak Point Farm preserve that deserve attention. The walking paths are mild and easy. This being an old farm, at lot of attention is being paid to the areas horticulture, and finally they have some a facility here suitable for education.

I was there on 9/2/23 to hear Seth Glier. It's a very nice venue.I purchased two glasses of wine with tip $20.00.After 10 minutes I went back to the wine bar and a woman was there, same woman who addressed the audience before Seth went on.She may be on the Board or associated.I had seen a bowl of mix and asked her for a plastic cup to put the mix in.She handed me a napkin and said you can put it in there, then thought again, and handed me a small cup, half the size and mentioned we are not using our cups for that item.I looked at her and thought, could you be any cheaper or less customer service orientated. Then the evening started with a special guest, who one might think is involved musically,or perhaps the president, but instead he made a politically motivated speech regarding climate change because the headliner is deeply involved.Under other conditions,it may have been appropriate, but then the program started and the lyrics in most of his choices were all themed with related messages and innuendos.Seth has many talents and interests and you can read about it in his bio.The audience didn't have to hear it over and over throughout the first set.I'm a musician in six orchestras and have never been held captive by a left leaning political agenda at a concert. He claims to be versed in many genres of music which is fine, but making a bulley pulpit from the stage was uncalled for.We left after the first set as we didn't want to be exposed to more political rhetoric. Climate change is a worthy issue, buy I didn't come to attend that type of forum.I would prefer to have my entry fee refunded.Response is welcomed.10/15/23 The management/ownership doesn't have the decency to respond.Shameful.It's now been almost five months and no one from the staff has bothered to reply,in any way or format.I appeal to Cathy Sherrill,Executive Director, for having the decency to respond to a customer and to acknowledge to all of you, that they read and care about their reviews.

Very interesting, though small museum of Boothbay history, from prehistorical peoples forward. Also got excellent help from the resident historian who guided us through the well-organized genealogical records and files. What a treasure trove.
You shouldn't leave Boothbay Harbor without a visit to Ed Brown's Wharfside Gallery!! I cant imagine not stopping back next time I am in the area! We stumbled into Ed's gallery and he immediately made us feel like we had known him forever. Not only is Ed a fantastic artist but he enjoys people! He has a wonderful sense of humor and two very comfy shop chairs. Everyone entering is greeted with a smile and if you are a local he will introduce you to everyone in the store. But regardless of Ed's gregarious personality, his Maine prints and paintings are beautifully detailed, colorful and capture the essence of Maine. He is a very talented artist! And Ed will tell you all about each piece of art ..giving the art some meaning to both of you. In my experience, most artists are not personable like Ed. On Sat. we perused the artwork and talked to Ed. Then we went back on Sunday and literally waited hoping he would open which he eventually did. We bought one painting and 2 prints. That day, we met his charming wife Susan..an artist as well ..and clearly the more focused one of the pair. You will see Eds work sold throughout Maine but here in Boothbay Harbor is where you can find him..in the Ed Brown Wharfside Gallery across from Fishermans Wharf. It was a lovely end to our mother daughter my 60th bday trip. Thank you Ed! Hope to see you and Susan again next year!

We NEVER buy art but wound up walking out with 4 prints and debating who gets to take them home first since we don’t live together 😂 his artwork is simply breathtaking. Ed was so friendly and we really appreciated talking with him. The next morning we were still talking about the art. Oh and he gave us great suggestions on where to check out in the area that we were able to visit which were also breathtaking!! Thank you Ed!

Every time we come to Boothbay Harbor we visit Ed Brown's Wharfside Gallery to pick up a print or two. There's so many beautiful choices, and you can frame them easily at home with standard sized frames. Ed is great to work with, and he even doodled on the mat which made the gift even more special. Be sure to check him out next time you're in town.

A must visit. Best of the best in true BBH art. Ed and Susan have captured the Harbor’s true essence in each and every canvas they touch.
Great library with excellent librarians. They plan community activities for all ages, but my kids in particular like the events and summer reading. Librarians go to a lot of trouble to encourage a love of reading. All the volunteers and librarians are friendly. I love that I can check out a park pass, museum pass, or garden pass with my library card too. This is a huge savings! I see that you can also rent things like a telescope, but I haven’t done that just yet. They’ve got a regular chess night on Wednesdays and there are some very good players as well as beginners. The library is part of what makes this a great small town.

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Boothbay Harbor, Footbridge Brewery is a quaint small-batch brewery that prides itself on crafting a diverse selection of beers using locally sourced ingredients from Maine. The brewery offers an array of beer styles to cater to various preferences, including unique brews that pleasantly surprise visitors. As you explore the downtown area, don't miss the opportunity to walk across the renowned footbridge and visit the historic bridge house, which has served multiple purposes over the years.
I got their brisket sandwich with no pickles and the side of mac and cheese. I can thoroughly say, it was one of the best brisket sandwiches I’ve ever had. It was juicy, smoked beautifully and had a jam packed bite full of flavor. The man running it was so nice and it was a 5 star experience and more. There were many excellent brews here! From sweeter Gose beers, to malty beers, to hoppy beers, it has it all! You will be pleased if you stop by here.
We did not get any food while we were there, but everything seemed reasonably priced!

Friendly and enthusiastic staff who are proud of their beer. Simple menu to view and great explanations of both. Order by number to keep the line going please. I wish they had a retail section to grab and go instead of waiting in line. Furniture is nice and comfortable with a great outdoor seating area. Location is perfect in Boothbay. I'll be back for sure. There are so many beers to sample. If they have it on tap, order the pickle beer. It honestly is refreshing.

In my opinion, two things make a great brewery: The brew they serve, and the staff that works there and serves it to you. This place is amazing at both.
Went here on a long weekend trip with my wife and in-laws, and were greeted by super friendly staff. They welcomed us to the high-top bar, where we sampled several of their many beers, chatted it up with the bartender, learned a bunch about the brewery and their background, and had an awesome lunch.
Was surprised to see such good BBQ foods in Northern NE (I'm from Chicago), but the pulled pork and the brisket here is no joke. Every bite was amazing, and goes really well with their baked beans.
Lots of seating outside to enjoy nice weather, and some dartboards and board games inside when it's not.
Would definitely come here again.

A must visit spot for dinner & a drink.
I don’t even know where to start. We arrived a little later in the day and the kitchen had already closed for the night but that didn’t stop the owner Michael from going back into the kitchen and whipping us up a platter on the house. When I say he came out with a tray full of food I mean, damn. Two bowls of Mac & cheese, a half rack of ribs, a basket of wings and a basket of poppers which he insisted were free of charge.
The food was magnificent (the best ribs I have ever f%#king had), the beer was awesome & Michael and the bartender were and absolute treat to talk with.
I can’t recommend this place enough & I will make sure to always stop at this place if I’m ever in the area of boothbay again.

Devin’s outstanding service saved us from giving this a 1 star review. We sat at the inside bar on Aug 13 around 6pm for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged by two bar tenders with only 1 guy at the bar before we sat down. Two other couples then came in and were served immediately. We got up and left when we realized they were just not going to acknowledge us. As we walked past the outdoor bar Devin struck up a conversation with us and offered a sample, told us which beers to try. He was attentive to every guest outside, brought dogs treats, came to our table to make sure we liked the beer. Outstanding service from Devin who saved the 1 star review I was about to leave. Great conversation. Wished us a great vacation and evening and glad I got to try the beer it was great.

Stopped in on a whim after visiting the Botanical Gardens and were not disappointed. Sat outside in the small patio where we could see into the brewing area through the giant windows.
We got a flight with a mix of sours to a quad and the brewer put them in a recommended tasting order which was kinda neat. The inside was bright and comfortable. Everyone was super nice and very helpful.
One of the most impressive things was the restroom. It was fully stocked with a changing table, assorted sizes of diapers, menstrual products, and DV pamphlets. All free. So amazing.

This a very lovely, very humble little church. I really love the mass here in the summer.
A wonderful walk for us when we were staying at the Flagship Inn. Some woodland, a lovely creek and pastures with old homestead apple trees. Also lots of wild raspberries on the Northwest part of the trail that leads to the rd.

Love this BRLT (Boothbay Region Land and Trust) trail. It sits right behind the Hannaford supermarket right on route 27. Short and sweet- beautiful trail- marked well with color coded trail markers on the trees. About 1 mile long, but... can be longer by crossing over to other color coded routes. Dog friendly, dry, some tree roots-. I combined my trail walk with my grocery shopping!! 2 for the price of 1!! June Bug (my dog) and I enjoyed ourselves.

Easy access trail, made for everyone! Timber trying new harness and leash with more control, skittish at first but then gets into it.

Great spot for trail run or walk, especially with dog. Can't believe people here, leave filled dog poop bags on the trail! They even provide a garbage at trail start. Irresponsible.

Peaceful walk in a surprisingly hidden spot!! Trail was well maintained
The clothing is a quality step above other stores in town with a local maritime history museum built right into the store! Super cool place.

We check this store out each time we're in town and it's a nice friendly shop that is great for souvenirs. They were running a great sale for the fall season and we were able to get a few gifts for my parents without breaking the bank. Convenient location too. I recommend it.

My daughter bought a bracelet here. We wish we saw the other review first. Within 20 minutes of wearing it, it broke and fell off her wrist. We went back to try and get an exchange thinking the store would stand by the product. Unfortunately that was not the case. The person we spoke with said take it up with the manufacturer and that all sales are final. I guess they just prey on visitors who never come back so what do they care. If they relied on repeat business this type of attitude would not fly. Oh well, I would shop elsewhere as there are plenty of other options.

Bought my daughter a bracelet that broke within 15 minutes, we went back right away to exchange it and they wouldn't. Big cry baby owner couldn't take the item back. BAD make sure what you buy is not broken before you pay or better yet spend your money elsewhere.

What a fun shop this is! Even has a small maritime history museum towards the back of the store. Nice clothing and we found several items on sale that were a great buy. Very friendly cashier who had a wealth of information to share! We enjoyed all of our finds in the store!

Okay store with decent selection of clothing with good souvenirs and sweat shirts.

This is definitely the best clothing store, with superior quality merchandise compared to the rest of the stores, and the perfect place to find a quality souvenir from Boothbay Harbor. Located on Pier One, it has a museum inside, being the only place where you can find the history of this city. I definitely recommend stopping by here if you end up in Boothbay Harbor.
