Customers also appreciate the reasonable prices compared to other similar establishments.
Such a beautiful place!! I could spend all day here! There is a large variety of petrified wood and a good mix ox Gems and minerals. Even jewelry made from them. And then I found their outside area. Omg, huge amount of geode’s to pick from as well as a few other large stones. Like pink quarts and even mint colors too. I need to go back like all the time now.

Who knew a trip to Holbrook, Arizona could turn you into a stone-cold fan of petrified wood? Well, Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co did exactly that! This place isn't just a store; it's a wonderland for anyone who appreciates the art of nature frozen in time.
Walking in, I was greeted by a forest of petrified wood that could rival the actual Petrified Forest National Park. I mean, the collection is so extensive, I half-expected to see a petrified squirrel holding a tiny petrified acorn! From monumental logs that made me feel like a Lilliputian in Gulliver's Travels to itty-bitty pieces perfect for my pocket, they've got every size for every enthusiast.
But wait, there's more! Wander into their special fossil section, and it's like stepping back a few million years. The fossils are so impressive; I half-expected a dinosaur to stroll in asking for directions to the nearest tar pit. Some of these fossils are so huge, they make you wonder how they ever fit them through the door.
In conclusion, if you're looking to add a bit of prehistoric pizzazz to your life or just want to have a 'rockin' good time, Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co in Holbrook is the place!!

This was one of my highlights of my trip. I recommend visiting AFTER you go through the National Park, so you have an appreciation for the setting. The store has a wide suite of rocks & fossils for sale, and also specimens you can view that are not for sale. As a geologist, I really enjoyed just walking around and looking at rocks - lots of rocks polished and raw and carved. My only regret was that the staff were friendly, but not "experts" in the rocks in the store - I was hoping the person who compiled this wonderful collection would be there. WORTH STOPPING IN. I ended up buying three items at about $50 each and having the store ship them directly to my home - they were friendly and helpful and made the shipping easy as they handled it directly for the cost of shipping. Wish I could return with my wife and again with my grandkids (or wish I could have brought my kids when they were young). Just to walk around all of their inventory outside is amazing in itself, but the inside is even more fun.

I checked 4 stores for petrified wood. This place had the biggest selection and best prices. Other shops were 3-4x more. And the staff was very friendly.

This place came highly recommended by the Thanx-a-Latte people down the road (great place for gifts and coffee!). We were on our way out of town, but had to stop here first. So glad we did. Fun, large shop with a pond in it with Koi and a turtle. They have tons of beautiful petrified wood, carved wood, stones, gems, jewelry and fossils. Definitely worth the stop. Fun place for kids too!

A must-see destination if you're in the area. Lots of different kinds of rocks and gems for sale. Also, a museum quality collection of rocks and fossils.

If my rating were solely based on variety and volume the place would get 6/5 stars. Overall I gave it a 4 because I found the prices to be sky high compared to many rock shops. I’m a rockhound and I sell my material for considerably less. Furthermore the overabundance of signs around the store stating “you break it, you buy it “ are not necessary to make that message clear to customers and are borderline rude. Nonetheless, the quality of craftsmanship and the place looking like a museum redeemed the experience for me. Staff were very kind to me as well.

If you are into rocks and minerals this is the place to visit. There are so many different options and at the very least, it has a very cool museum with lots of collectibles, artifacts, fossils, etc that aren’t even for sale. I was so impressed with this place that I came back a second time with a friend who uses rocks and minerals for healing. We overheard people talking about how much they overpaid at the previous place they stopped by. They couldn’t get over how good these prices were. I happen to agree. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and it was such a pleasure buying from this store. Definitely worth a stop by if you are in the area. Not too far from Petrified Forest National Park.

This place is HUGE. I was there for an hour trying to decide what I wanted to buy. I knew this was likely the only time I'd make the 600 mile round trip drive, so selecting my items was really important. There are rows upon rows of petrified wood in various colors, sizes, types of wood, and country of origin. Additionally, items of quartz and other gems/minerals were everywhere. There are 40 million year old fossils for sale. I finally ended up with a polished slice of an Arizona petrified log (the reddish piece), one from Madagascar, a little elephant hand-carved from ironwood, and two softball sized geodes that I hope to open and find something nice. Definitely worth the stop. Just plan on staying a while.

This place is amazing! There are a lot of cool items, and the staff are very friendly. They had a lot of interesting items on display, and its definitely worth visiting to get some great crystals and fossils. I had fun just walking around and looking, and also bought a shark tooth and some rocks and petrified wood. There is a huge selection, and I added some photos of things that caught my eye.

Was expecting a tourist gimmick trap. Honestly. One of the coolest places I've been to. It's nice enough I would have paid $7 a person just to get in to look at all the minerals they have. Please don't read this and start charging money Jim.
As soon as I become a millionair I will be back and buy up all they have to offer. Must see on your trip. I would drive maybe 45 minutes out of my way to visit this shop. If I had 10k for a new coffee table I would travel across country for one of the ones offered here.
The Navajo County Historical Society in Holbrook is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The museum showcases the rich history of the area, from Native American tribes to pioneers who settled in the late 1800s. Housed in what used to be the jail, the museum offers a diverse collection of artifacts and exhibits representing various eras, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the region's past.
I've been to the museum a few times, and they're always updating it. We enjoyed our last visit. The jail was creepy but interesting. There is so much to learn about Holbrook.

Great museum, not just of the place but of the time from 1880s through the 1960s. There's a variety of exhibits including a jail unit, a courtroom, area geology, some wild local history, historic business machines, and commerce of the area.

We stopped in to the Museum around 4pm during a overnight stay at Brad's Dessert Inn. I must say that's a awesome way to immerse yourselves in a community' s history quickly. The woman at the desk was great and the place is no charge. We had a similar experience at the Carlsbad museum in NM. A fantastic way to know a place and it's history!

The old courthouse has been turned into a museum, the rooms filled with history of Holbrook and surrounding physical terrain. We were taken back in time with vignettes of Native American history, pioneer and cowboy history, railroad and local business history. There were room that told stories of local people from Holbrook's past. We loved it! Bring some cash to donate because they deserve a few bucks for all the care and attention to detail that's been put into the building to make give it an excellent flow through time. After leaving the museum, we drove along the railyard frontage and Route 66, in town, to compare to what we had see inside the museum.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. A lot of history and a lot of artifacts.
Take a step back in time when you walk into the courtroom, the judge's chamber, and the jury room.
Be sure to go downstairs and check out the jail.
The admission is free, but please make a donation.

The old courthouse turned museum is a must see! The old jail is so chilling emotionally it made me feel goose bumps. It's very dark and heavy in there. It instantly makes you think of how depressing and uncomfortable jail was for an inmate. It was creepy but an interesting piece of Holbrook history that has been maintained for us to experience today. Once you walk out of there you walk through the rest of the courthouse and you can't help but admire the height of the ceilings and doors. There are all sorts of history that is worth seeing!

The history in this dilapidated Courthouse is amazing and well worth the detour. I was only there for an hour but I could spend an afternoon. The spookiest jail ever. A time warp from the 70’s. Check out the graffiti. Wow

A surprisingly diverse little museum, this Holbrook attraction is truly a small gem in the high desert. There's a wide variety of exhibits, well-presented, and the building itself is lovely. Be sure to make a donation to help them preserve this worthwhile museum. It's a bit old and world-weary but that just adds to the charm. Allow about an hour to see everything.

We stopped here hoping to get information about the Petrified Forest. While we did get the information we needed, I have never felt so unwelcome in a visitor center. We obviously were disturbing this gentleman's morning by asking questions. There is supposedly a museum in this building, but we did not know this until after we left. The restrooms were locked and we had to ask for keys to use them. The jail was in the same hallway and was interesting to see but we felt like we shouldn't be there. There were other people outside when we left but they must not have known what was in there either. They just took a photo of the building and were leaving.
Geronimo Trading Post is a must-visit on any road trip, offering a unique experience with its beautiful grounds and the world's largest petrified tree just outside. The building itself is adorned with geodes and gems, creating a stunning display. Inside the gift shop, visitors can find an array of Native American treasures that exude history and culture. This stop stands out for its authentic feel and passion for the land, making it more than just your average curio shop.
The ladies that work here are amazing! Keep that country music going! your store is amazing and I enjoyed stopping here and purchasing momentum’s from here I pray that your business stays thriving and you have a blessed year!

The grounds are just lovely. The world's largest petrified tree is just outside. Keep in mind it's in pieces. You're not going to see those ginormous tree standing tall.
It's absolutely beautiful. It kind of looks like a geode with all its different textures and colors. The building itself is also beautiful. They have different geodes and gems made into the building. The gift shop is beautiful. Has a lot of amazing native American things inside.
On a road trip we've stopped at a lot of different gift shops. This one I felt had the most history to it. You could feel the culture when you walked in. It wasn't just a curio shop. You can actually feel the passion of the land inside. I know, weird. Lol. You'll know when you know. Definitely stop by.

Love coming here. We have purchased a few very unique one of a kind things here. Take note though. Their hours are what they want them to be. Don’t come too early and make sure you get here 2 hours before their listed closing time or you might not get in. We showed up today and they are supposed to be open till 5pm and they closed at 3:40pm. Last time came early, about 8:30 and they weren’t open yet. We ran around town for a couple of hours and came back instead of waiting for someone to show up. Still love this place. It’s just really quirky.

I seen teepees and old wagons from the highway - as I drove past this place on my way to Las Vegas Nevada, and on my way back to Shepherd Texas I had to stop. .**.GERONIMO** It's a shop that has all kinds of cool stuff... Indian knick knacks- different type of rocks, -bows n arrows -mocassin boots - knives - anything you could think of they probably have.- souvenirs to take to your family and friends . The ladies there where extremely helpful and willing to share the details of everything they have to offer.. I was shocked to see the prices on some of these items though.. some were $6000. or more .. all in all I spent 2 hours in there just looking at all the cool things.. couldn't decide what I actually wanted... some where in my price range. I ended up spending like $55.00 - got a few cool things - shot glasses - keychain names- and a cool scorpion bracelet.. because of the information I got about some things will definitely make me pay closer attention to petrified rocks .. 😃... you never know where there could be a thousand dollar rock nearby just calling your name ..

Cool place for a quick stop, lots of random stuff, I ended up getting an unopened geode but I was curious about their cactus they sold but the selection was just random commercial cactuses in little tiny boxes that were over priced.
All kinds of stuff though to check out.

Such a cool store! It has all sorts of rocks, gemstones, minerals, local Indian art, great stuff for the kids. We got our daughter a bow & arrows and a native beaded necklace. I got for myself, a real colored agate slice. They also sell pieces of petrified wood here in so many beautiful colors. Outdoors is full of huge pieces of petrified wood and colorful tepees and old stage wagons.

I give an A++ for the merchandise. I give an F- for the Merchant. This store has some very unique and beautifully polished (EXPENSIVE!) petrified rocks, plus a large assortment of unique hand carved items and other nice things. Yes, they do have some of the more commercial type, touristy, trinkets too. So, why the ⭐️ ⭐️ you ask? I never rate more than ⭐️ ⭐️ to merchants that aren’t courteous enough to greet their patrons. Shame on you! Although, the lack of common courtesy could’ve been isolated as they seemed to be greeting others just fine! P.S. there are several old broken down cars in the lot that give the impression that it’s real crowded with customers, but it’s not.
