Irozaki Cape is located at the southern end of the Izu Peninsula and boasts a rugged promontory adorned with a Shinto shrine and lighthouse. The area offers breathtaking views and the calming sound of crashing waves. Accessible by bus from Izukyu Shimoda station, visitors can purchase a 2-day Shimoda Irozaki bus pass for easy transportation to various points of interest along the way, including beautiful beaches.
Wonderful scenery. Ocean views from the lighthouse. It was an awesome place to visit and appreciate more the beauty of nature. There is a shrine, spacious parking area and restaurant. There is no entrance fee, you only have to pay for the parking area.

Fantastic place. Worth visiting as the view from the southern most top of Izu peninsula is just amazing. The ocean in front of you, the waves crashing down on the rocks, beautifully colored water, the high wind / breeze, cute little lighthouse-,can’t go up though, the shrine at the cliff end and at the tip - it is absolutely fantastic. Parking lot has many spots available (500 JPY). We saw a bus there as well but not sure about its frequency. There is a souvenir shop, a small restaurant with select few dishes, a few tables and chairs to settle down, toilets etc - all of which seems like pretty new, so sparklingly clean. The staff was standing right at the front gate of the small building (adjacent to parking spot) and graciously offered free umbrellas to carry till the end of Iro cape as it was drizzling a little bit. The hike is just 10 mins simple walk from parking spot. Kids can easily go.
Fun fact: As is the practice with many Shinto shrines, the Iro shrine also has a mirror installed where one would keep deity. The understanding being that “A shrine’s mirror on an alter is often angled for the effect that the spirit of the kami is reflected within the person looking in the mirror.”

The view is amazing and the sound of the waves is soothing.
You can easily get there by bus from Izukyu Shimoda station. I recommend to buy the Shimoda Irozaki bus pass at 2100¥ for 2 days. You can stop to many points of view and beaches on the way.

On November 17, 2018, a new parking lot was being built at a construction site. It seems that it will not be completed until next March.
The lighthouse can be seen from the road, and the shrine and nearby scenery are impressive.

New attraction, called JUNGLE PARK, is scheduled to open in late November. Until then, you have to park the car at the port and climb a slope for a few hundred meters. But the view is worthy.

Very beautiful place for enjoying cherry blossom. It's a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. The cherry blossom view is really beautiful here but as it's a bit far from the station this place is not very crowded and it's a perfect place for enjoying the kawazu blossom 🌸.

Hirizo Beach, located near Tokyo, is a popular spot for snorkeling and observing vibrant marine life. Accessible by a short boat ride, the beach boasts crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. However, it can get crowded during peak season. Visitors recommend arriving early to secure parking and space on the boats. The rocky beach offers excellent visibility for observing various coral fishes but may require bringing your own chairs or air mats due to limited sandy areas.
Superb...
Excellent snorkling site outside Okinawa.
During peak season this tiny beach will be horrible crowded but at the end of season (September) this tiny beach almost like private beach.
Rocky beach has Crystal visibility, plenty various of coral fishes.
Marine boot is mandatory, except rock and other sharp objects the beach also has many poisonous Stone fish.
Absolutely recommend
Pieter Black — Google review
The snorkeling area is nice as it's an enclosed area surrounded mostly by rocks. You need to get quite a bit out to be deep enough to swim. You will definitely need some shoes for the water as there's sea urchins and sharp rocks that I would not suggest walking barefoot on. Once you're further out though, the water and marine life is really nice.
Biggest negative is how crowded it is and having to arrive super early in the morning for parking. Most cars started waiting as early as 3am to get a parking spot. Then there's a lot of waiting until the boats start running at 8am with a huge queue of people waiting to board it. After arriving at the beach, everyone sets up their massive tents so it's a bit of a pain to walk and get around the rocks.
Bryan Cheng — Google review
Hirizo beach is a very nice “beach”, just made out of only rocks everywhere, very small and so easily crowded. The view is very nice and snorkeling activity is ok, but too many staffs yelling at you not to swim here or there . Include also 2000¥ boat trip for one person and 2 min transportation to the beach.
Bonjour Tokyo — Google review
Probably the best spot for snorkeling around Kanto area. However, you need to get to the port really early like 5am to get a parking lot and put your stuff to secure your spot in a line for a boat.
Also, there will be so many people in a small area. A sand area is very limited. Other space is stones and rocks. You must take your chairs and/or air mat.
Japanese people like to stay in tents so they’ll block your view.
Hiroki Iwata — Google review
That's incredible that you can find such a tropical place so relatively close to Tokyo. Arrived at Nakagi Port you can purchase for 1500 yen (as of 2018) a return transfer ticket, and boats are linking the bay every 5 minutes. However, beware the crowd of midsummer weekends. If possible go a little off season (like in mid September) and on a weekday.
Davide Chiaramonte — Google review
Secluded little beach with a small cove for snorkeling. Lots of fish and coral.
The beach is very small and can get crowded. It's made of rocks so foot protection is a necessity! Unless you bring folding chairs don't expect to lounge comfortably either.
There are no facilities but the boat to the harbour goes every 10 minutes orso.
Recommended if you're in the area and a little out of season!

One of the best area for snorkeling in Kanno area.. There are very clear water and tropical fishes.
Boat access only from Nakagi. Boat fee is 1500yen/person, parking 1000yen/vehicle.
Once you paid boat fee, You can take boat many times for toilet, food... Because beach don't have anything. It takes 5min from Port to beach.
I went here to see the sunset. I think it is one of the best place in Izu peninsula for sunset. In the shop you can taste spicy apple juice.

What a great place to stay with friendly staff who greets and smiles every time!! The amenities are just enough to spend the entire trip of 1-night-2-days like the hot springs, foot bath, hammocks, lounge, karaoke box and a souvenir shop. The breakfast and dinner meals are buffet which have mainly Japanese and western foods. Most of them taste great but a few is a little strange looking. Overall, it’s an awesome experience. AND I would very much love to rate this place with 5 stars easily. Its vacation package/deal is affordable and is very popular among families. Therefore, here comes the children who are noisy and loud because of them who shouted in the restaurant, played with the hot spring, ran I the hallway, being annoying; KIDS(customer) problems!!!!! We could not really enjoy here. And some customers who went out of the hot spring right away as the kids were entering it. You know how the kids digging for their favorite food in some food dishes. Some Were just running in the reception area/lounge and tapped on each table and chair that people had seated. Sometimes, it’s just too much!! Perhaps, I won’t return to this hotel in the future.

It is a mysterious shrine that was built to cut into the rock wall reminiscent of the National Treasure Nageiredo Hall. Said to be one of the Seven Wonders of Izu, the sails that appear in the legend of the Sengokubune Sails are used to support the building. You can read the legend of "Sengokubune's Masashira" from the Ishimuro Shrine on the Japanese Folklore Encyclopedia HP.
???? — Google review
The origins of Ishimuro Shrine are shrouded in mystery and various fantastic legends that include the mention of dragons. However, the original structure was most likely built in the year 701 according to inscriptions on a munafuda (small wooden planks/boards that are stored with temples and shrines upon completion of construction).
The shrine was built into a crevice/cave on the cliffs right above crashing waves below. This rock, like much of Izu’s beautiful and geologically unique coastline, was formed by lava flows that erupted from a submarine volcano. The amount of work and danger involved in building a shrine in this particular location without the convenience of modern machinery or technology is a feat in and of itself.
Locals from the numerous fishing villages nearby worship the shrine’s guardian deity of the sea and pray for maritime safety and business prosperity. Tourists can also visit the shrine and pray for academic success and even traffic safety. The shrine is actually manned by a priest selling the omamori (Japanese amulets). The priest was kind enough to watch and play with my dog while I entered the shrine to make an offering and prayer.

Villa Yumigahama is a peaceful retreat that offers modest lodgings equipped with kitchens and patios. The cottages are positioned in a serene resort overlooking the ocean, allowing for breathtaking views. The cabins have recently undergone renovations and are filled with natural light, giving them an open and airy quality. They boast stylish finishes, such as Italian coffee makers, and feature unique design elements that add character to the space.
I took my two 8 year old boys here. They loved it! They were entertained just by the cabin itself. There was everything I needed to cook dinner and breakfast for us. We collected shells from the beach to put in our fish tank back home. The staff was extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The weather was cold and rainy in February but we had a great time in this nice secluded villa. We wanted to get out of the city for a couple days and this was just the right place.

This place is awesome. The husband and wife couple that run it are so sweet and lovely (and speak English which is helpful for us Australians), all of the staff were friendly and helpful. They organised the coal bbq for us (travelled with a friend) to cook on which was a real treat as we’ve been traveling for a while so it’s nice to cook at home. The villas are very well stocked with kitchen items etc and really tastefully decorated. The beach is super nearby and is a beautiful beach, one of the nicer in the area. The early bloom Cherry blossom festival is is also really close and much quieter than the nearby kawazu cherry blossoms, highly recommend this one if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet. Would love to come back to the villas in summer

What a lovely stay we had there!
The place is a group of small houses on a kind of cliff, in the forest. It's a very calm and natural atmosphere, perfect to relax during summer vacation.
It is located 5min walk from the beautiful Yumigahama beach, where you can find 3-4 restaurants.
The room was Japanese style, futon on the floor, but we'll equipped with fridge and cookware. It had a big terrace, with view on the sea, and a barbecue table. You can ask the staff to prepare the fire so all you need is to cook your meal.
Totally recommend it for a peaceful and relaxing stay.

We recently stayed in the newly renovated Cabin H at Villa Yumigahama. We have never stayed in a place in Japan quite like this. Very spacious and with a large deck and picnic tables for BBQ, the views of the ocean and surrounding forest were fantastic. Our cabin was filled with beautiful natural light, a stylish and functional kitchen with a wonderful Italian coffee maker, everything was open, airy and full of character. Our kids loved the bunkbeds in the back, as well as the reading nook that felt like a little woodland hideaway. Truly a Gem, with 5 minute walk to two of Izu's most spectacular beaches, and a short drive to the amazing farmer's market in Shimogamo, it was a magical stay.

Beautiful hideaway tucked into a mountainside overlooking the sparkling bay. The staff are so kind.
Beautiful stars, hiking, and beaches nearby. BBQ experience recommended!

Cool place, buildings all made out of wood, like treehouses, nice bar and lots of places to bbq or to make fires. Very close to the beach, excellent.
(Translated by Google) It is located near the row of cherry blossom trees along the Aono River. Admission is free, but the parking fee during the Sakura Festival is 500 yen. I've been to other tropical botanical gardens many times, but it's been a while. It is a facility that uses hot springs, and a hot spring pipe is pulled into the house, which is ideal for a warm and plant environment. The facility has a retro Showa era, but there are lots of beautiful colorful flowers, and it feels like you are enjoying a forest bath. On the way back, I drank pineapple juice from the parlor and it was delicious. At the shop, we also sold potted plants of Kawazu cherry blossoms outside the columns and cacti. I was able to relax very well.

(Translated by Google) Previously, there was a charge, so I skipped it, but now that admission is free, I decided to go in and buy some cacti. During the Cherry Blossom Festival, from February 1st to March 15th, there seems to be a parking fee. They say, ``Did you drive there? In that case, you will be charged a parking fee of 500 yen.''Moreover, this parking lot is separate from other cherry blossoms. Apparently you can't use it in the festival parking lot and have to pay a parking fee. When you enter from the entrance, there is a cafe space on the left, a sales corner behind it, and a greenhouse after passing through there. It seems to be using the heat from the hot springs, so it's warm, but it may be rude to say this, but it's more like a jungle than a botanical garden. It looks like it has been left unmanaged and is left to grow and crawl as it pleases. In a sense, it recreates a jungle that has not been touched by humans, with the roots spreading out and destroying the plastic pots, making it suitable for people who like the feeling of desolation. Maybe it's irresistible.

It's hard to find the parking lot, but it looks like you can park along the east end. Is it only during the paid period? There will be someone to guide you, so please follow them.
The parking lot near the venue is quite crowded during the cherry blossom festival, but this parking lot is a little-known spot. I was able to stop easily. You can also see the botanical garden for free, which is a good deal.
The botanical garden is in pretty dilapidated condition. Compared to the banana crocodile garden and cactus park, it feels small in scale. It's free so it can't be helped, but I don't think it will last very long.

One of those places that photos just don't capture. It seems to have been more popular in the past with derelict shops at the gateway, but now it's a modest visitor center with snacks and some omiyage. The sheer cliffs are spectacular, but what surprised me was the shrine embedded in the cliffside. And yes, you can get a goshuin or lucky charm. Some steep steps that might be treacherous in the wet.
