Furano Ski Resort is a family-friendly destination in Hokkaido, Japan. It boasts 24 ski runs and opportunities for back-country skiing. Additionally, the resort offers hot springs and English-language activities geared towards children. While the resort can be pricey, visitors can enjoy convenient access to backcountry areas without special equipment. Overall, Furano Ski Resort is an excellent winter getaway for those who love skiing and cold weather.
One of the best ski trips I've ever had. I was lucky with the weather as it snowed every day.
Convenient backcountry areas that are easy to access without any backcountry gear. Would still not advice to go alone.

Visited Furano in early March, one of the best days riding in my life. Great value lift tickets, lunch, snacks and overall experience. Parking is very easy, never waited in a lift line and was able to find fresh snow in the trees.

We came during winter in feb. The road from kitami to furano turned quite bad as we are approaching here.
Overall the slopes are amazing and the view is fantastic. Its our first time trying so we got an instructor here.
The rates are abit expensive but the instructor is a pro at teaching. We learnt so much during our time here. Thank you konu-san for making the this a memorable one.

Nice runs here. The snow is good but where in Japan isn’t. Not so busy like other areas in Japan. Kids under 13 are lift chair free. Oh this side is 200% better than Kitanominecho based on the mountain for green runs!

Take a Lavendar Airport Limousine bus from Asahikawa Bus Terminal to New Prince Furano Resort (2 hours). At the resort they do provide shuttle service to skiing area or might take a 7 minutes walk if you want. They provided skiing equipment for rent (5 hours 8800 yen). Ride the cable car (2300 + 500 refundable deposit) to the top hill to enjoy the beautiful scenery (for those not a skier). There is a restaurant serve quite delicious ramen. Don't forget to drop by Ningle Terrace (4 min) for some beautiful photo as well. Wonderful place worth my visit.

The ski resort areas are lightly crowded on both sides. The terrain and courses are enough for an intermediate to enjoy all day. For advance skiers and snowboarders, look for gated terrains. There are many food options at reasonable prices in the main town area.

It's Spring, the snow is slushy, there's barely anyone here, you could wear a t-shirt and shorts if you wanted. I'd like to have a BBQ later and down a nicely chilled beer while lounging in a deckchair. Also, they play dodgy Japanese music. You love it.

Came here for our skii lessons which is also at new prince furano hotel. Think is is one of the more affordable/reasonably priced skiing place for beginners. Also had nice arts and craft village and mesmerizing crafts.
James Wong — Google review
Best powder in Hokkaido, just slightly small unless also taking Kitanomine into account, also has better lunch at 11th floor if you feel like to have one, can get really crowded during peak season, long waiting line at the gondola, try taking the lift at bottom to mid might be faster.
Kevin Wu — Google review
Went in the second Saturday in March. It was really quiet despite the conditions which were really brilliant.
We got a full day ticket and spent a full 5 hours on the resort without going to the same place twice. You can go a little off-piste pretty safely and there are signs about if you want to go all the way off how to do it safely.
There are some good restaurants at the bottom that are pretty cheap. Unfortunately the one at the top of the ropeway has had a fire and is shut down for now.
The only down side was the flat area going from the Furano area to Kitanomine area and the white people who decided to stand in front of the exit from the lifts to have a chat.
Paul Foulkes — Google review
Good ski resort, wide variety of runs available. Very suitable for beginners-intermediate, fewer runs for more advanced skiers and snowboarders. Many wide runs to practice freely. Nice off-piste and backcountry opportunities available.

Super powdery snow and soft snow. Very wide lanes. I can't recommend this place enough.
Bonnie Enning — Google review
Enjoyed our experience here, the lift tickets are very affordable and the ramen for lunch is worth it, just get there earlier or later. Lots of options for rentals nearby
David Sharvin — Google review
This is a great ski resort as it is not too busy like Niseko. The signage for the ski runs are very well presented. For beginners like us, we have no issues with the direction of the skin runs. We have been to other ski resorts where we couldn’t even spot which is the green run (beginner) or blue run due to bad signage. The staff here was also very friendly and helpful.
However the only thing we complaint is that the slopes here are little bit uneven so it will be hard for beginners to practice.

It’s the 22th of December and the management doesn’t manage it to open more than two chairlifts. This is the result!
The excuse is not enough snow. Even do we have a snow base of more then a meter… it seems more like they wanna keep the cost low for the operation and squeeze the most money out of it. We will never know but what we know is that it is a fraud on those who want to have a happy day in the snow!!!

Ningle Terrace is a shopping area nestled in the woods that boasts picturesque timber cottages and workshops, showcasing and selling traditional handicrafts. While the view is enjoyable, the cost of goods may be considered expensive by some. Access to the location can be limited, with only a few taxis available as transportation options. Entry is free but operating hours are subject to change. The best time to visit would be at night when all of the lights have been lit up.
So dreamy, like those ginger bread houses, Santa’s workshop in books. It looks so nice during the light-up in the evening of winter. However, some shops were already closed at the time (Around 5-6pm).

The vibe of this place is cozy. You can walk around, look at the shops (handmade items but expansive) and get a cup of coffee. Also, they have a small section where you can do a short tubing, and the cost is around $5 CAD

You can access to this place from the hotel.
Walk pass a souvenir zone and get to lower ground from the elevator.
Not so crowded
Definitely a place to take nice photos when it's empty.
Too bad it's working time just until 830pm, so I didn't get to enter most of the shops.
By the time I left, there is no more buses.
The hotel staff helped me to call a taxi.
My suggestion is to visit here earlier,
Probably around 5pm
Chill in some cafe and wait til the closing time to get good photos.

We only had limited time here and I think the view would be better at night when all the lights have been lit up. There are a couple store that sell cute souvenir such a wooden figure. The place is small so a couple hours here should be enough.

A tourist attraction in Furano where local Japanese artists sell their arts and crafts as souvenirs. The shops are in the form of wood cottages and when sunset the lights will be light up to create a more picturesque view. There are also some cafes which sell hot chocolate, milk, cakes, ice creams. If you come in the winter, you will be served a stunning blanket of soft white snow which covers the roads and creates snow hats on the cabins and snow mushrooms on the trees.
Marina Marino — Google review
Very surprising place in the middle of the forest, next to an hotel. Many cabins (stores) with various crafts and lovely hand-made items.
Worth the trip, especially at night with all the illuminations!

A quaint and beautiful place that feels out of this world. The place looks great in the day and even better in the evening when it transforms through the fairy lights that line the walkways and outline of the huts. Each hut contains a shop filled with hand crafted products which are beautiful and intricate. Worth a visit!

Nice place but nothing we can do except taking pictures, and it is quite hard to go there except by taxi/private car or shuttle. Shuttle is limited and cost ¥500/trip/pax. Do expect crowd too, as taking good picture is quite impossible.

The view was EXCELLENT oh gosh how can this place exist. This is a night place so do go at night for pictures, but note that the place closes at 7:45. Some shops closes before that, and they don’t operate on certain days.
The small cozy wooden huts sells artisanal pieces made by local artisans. They were stunning but prices were on the higher side as expected.
Honghui Chi — Google review
It is good, actually a shopping area but the cost is way too much than the actual.
So just went to enjoy the view, try to visit when it is going to be dark.
But the problem is access you don’t have many buses to get to the location, few Taxies are available.
The entry is free and the operating hours changes depending on the situation

Small wooden cottages selling handicraft works.

Unique and hidden in cosy corner of the forest - worth a little walk around if one is into artisanal works (and prices) and for pictures of the architecture. Make one feel in a movie that shows part of a magical forest of special beings

As much as it’s beautiful, there’s nothing much to do here aside from taking nice photos. Do expect huge crowds to be there so you’ll be walking and stopping periodically to wait for people around you to get their photos taken. It's not that great. I have been to many attractions like this before across the world, so maybe I am spoiled a bit. They usually have a really pleasant atmosphere and are crowded. This place was dead, and it just didn't feel as enchanting as how the pictures make it out to be. It closes at 2045, yet half the stores were closed when we got there at 1800. Handmade items mean everything is super overpriced. The village itself is good for some pictures, but other then that, it's not something I would say is worth visiting at all.

The Wind Garden located at New Furano Prince Hotel boasts a charming English-style landscape complete with a quaint cottage. It is not overcrowded with tourists, making it an ideal location to enjoy the unique flora in peace. For nature enthusiasts, the Wind Garden is definitely worth visiting due to its diverse range of captivating plant life.
This is one of the most underrated garden I’ve been to in Furano and Biei areas. This garden is very well look after, the staff working in the rose garden is very knowledgeable and even showed us how to remove weed and where to buy the tools for it. Goro's Stone House is a popular tourist attraction that offers visitors a chance to experience the unique reproduction buildings used in the long-running TV drama called "From the Northern Country". This classic drama aired from 1981 to 2002 and showcased the actors' lives from childhood to marriage.
I did not know the classic drama “From the Northern Country” which had aired a few seasons until Tanaka, Kunie, who is the model of Kizaru or Yellow Monkey, one of the three top marine generals in One Piece manga, passed away. It aired from 1981 to 2002 sporadically. Even without any knowledge or information, I was saddened when I found that the drama was showing the actors’ life from 5-10 year old to their marriage and so on. It shows their lives! There are thee buildings actually built by Tanaka, Kunie himself. They were cozy and warm. It gave me an idea what kind of house I want to have when I retired.

A bit disappointing.
What they claimed as their #2 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, we bought two bottles and tried one in the evening- what a major disappointment - it tasted very young and more like a Pinot Noir- looked like a Pinot too.
Bought a rose but yet to try.
They have a cellar below, tho nothing much to see.

I don't think fans from northern countries will repeat the show once they see it. The number of domestic tourists from Hokkaido is decreasing rapidly because people misunderstand how to collect money.

There is a photo stand where you can place your camera, so you can easily find the location for commemorative photos. It was explained that you can take pictures inside the hut, but posting on SNS is prohibited. As you go deeper into the forest, you will find another hut. More and more, I was invited to the world from the northern countries.
The "stone house" and the "found house" are a little apart, but I've posted photos of them together.

Kodamaya Soba Noodle Shop is a casual and comfortable eatery with a bright and cheerful exterior. The establishment boasts spacious traditional interiors, where guests can enjoy floor seating while indulging in their delicious offerings. Their extensive menu features a variety of options, including the popular Katsu Don and Katsu Don set served with hot or cold soba noodles. While some may find the meat slightly tough, the portions are generous, making it an excellent value for money option.
Good value for money. Portions were huge and the tempura prawn was heavenly. Didn’t have reservations but still managed to get tables twice here. Highly recommend !

We were recommended this place in Furano, it was actually packed when we went in which was around 2pm but many had left by the time we took the photos. They provided us with a 2 sided English menu and we ordered the Katsu Don and the Katsu Don set, I opted to have the Soba hot as I’m not a fan of it cold. The set was huge and it was a struggle to finish all of it. We felt the meat was a bit tough, but otherwise everything was good.

Reasonable soba noodles found here, mostly their local so is worth to try it out u won't regret.

Value for money soba and rice box or bowls. I had the ten don set. The tempura prawns were big and delicious. The restaurant was very generous in their servings.

The soba is very huge portion . Prefer the cold soba than the hot one .. The tempera prawn and unagi is nice n big. Overall is just ok as there are many better ones around .. price is reasonable.

The hotel staff recommended this soba Restuarant but it also served udon and don. Nice to have hot soupy noodles in a cold wet day.

Delicious and authentic tasting soba in Furano (not a connoisseur, just a typical japan loving traveller :D)
Recommend the soba (both served hot, cold or with curry were great) and pork katsu. Parking lots were conveniently found opposite restaurant.
Some tips: Recommend to wait to be seated, and *impt!* press the button on the table once you are ready to order- otherwise the staff may just be too busy to attend to you!
Enjoy! :)

I ordered a hot sea eel with soba but it came cold! Anyway, food quality was bad and I did not enjoy it at all. When pressed the bell for service, server did not attend to our call. Will never be back and I will not recommend this restaurant!
Jeannie Wong — Google review
Price is reasonable, potion is good enough for single order. Food is quite nice especially enjoyed the hotpot udon.
Will Tan — Google review
First, soba is not a Hokkaido specialty, ramen is. Even so, this restaurant seems to be always busy. The portions are big and reasonably priced. While the shrimp tempura soba was good, the sea eel tempura came a bit uncooked. The service… is “busy restaurant” service.
Fernando Hatsumura — Google review
Good is good and affordable. If you like soba, this place is good. The service is a bit slow, as it’s all elderly staff. Feels like a family run shop. The shop claims to be the best soba shop in Furano. Do visit and try.

Very generous soba. The hot ones seems to taste better. Excellent service. Plenty of car park space opposite restaurant.

Gondola lift up the furano side of the mountian. The gondola is large and tales you up to the top at around 1000m summit.

Would've given it 5 stars if it had more food options. The Ramen Shop had a 90 minute wait time on a Thursday and I'd say it was still early season. You're better off bringing you own food and resting between sessions at the area above the Ramen Shop.
Otherwise a great place to ski, not much waiting time for lifts, great dry powdery snow. And kids under 12 ride for free (you still have to register them though).

It's Spring, I'm snowboarding, winning! Ropeway gondola just goes back and forth all day, like it should, you don't have to wait long, jump on it, go up, snowboard down. You know how this works. Get it!

Ropeway cablecar nearby the Prince hotel. Worth a ride up in the summertime to get a good view of the Furano area. The round trip fee was a bit expensive but is discounted for people staying at the hotel. Small gift shop, free parking. Restaurant at the top.

Great skiing, lots of fresh snow, grooming excellent and off piste as well and good noodle soup.
It was very clean and have great information about furano tourism. There are staff who can speak english and very kind. They are selling some post and souvenier as well.

It's like everywhere we've been - very clean and organized. We walked in with many questions hoping for an English speaking person. There's an American working in there, John. Wow! He really helped us understand getting around here. He's been here 11 years and knows the area well. Great information on the places we want to go. Getting around via mass transit is hard here, but John showed us the timetables and helped us figure out a plan to get the most out of busses and trains.
There are also many little souvenirs from the area as well as post cards. So glad we stopped in.

Rokugo Viewing Platform, situated at Furano Jam Garden in the outskirts of Rokugo, offers a serene observatory with stunning views of Furano's picturesque landscape. Accessible after a 40-minute drive from Hinode Lavender Garden, it is recommended to take the prefectural road near Mount Tokachi for a smoother journey.
Very scenery area. You can see snow mountain as well as vast field of greens and flowers even in summer. Highly recommended to come here if you are nearby.

It is a quiet observatory where you can see the magnificent land of Furano.
I think it would have been nicer if the lavender was in full bloom, but that's what I'm looking forward to next time.
By the way, the road on the way is a little narrow and there is a gravel road, so be careful especially if you come by motorcycle.

I went there in the second week of June 2023 after a visit to the anpanman shop. It was close to sunset. But it was still windy and chilly.
There were regrettably no more flowers.
But I had an enjoyable time there with no one else around. Snacking on Hokkaido chips while admiring the scenery.

Took the 10KM snowmobile. There were 4 other people that joined us and they did tandem. These 4 ladies drove VERY SLOWLY, not even 5km/hr, I wish I am lying but I am not, people. I am not expecting to go for a race, but less than 5km/hr snowmobiling is dull, boring and lame.
And we have to drive behind them. The smell of the diesel hurts my head, and it's COLD.
I wish the guide could be more informative to the other guests or at least let us ride in front of them or separate the groups because we were bored and cold. What should have been a 50minute ride became an almost 2hr ride because of the slow young ladies.
The guide did apologized to my husband (not to me, tho), saying that if it's only us we can go faster, and ask for an understanding. But we paid for the same amount if not more expensive (we took the 340cc snowmobile because we thought we wanted to go bit faster), so why do we have to tolerate other people's lameness for what should have been a fun ride?
But! Other than that, it was fun. I ended up waiting LONG for the slow ladies to go far ahead and then drive my snowmobile so I can go faster. So it was stop, wait long, go, stop, wait long and go. 😅 Gotta be creative.

The New Furano Prince Hotel is a casual lodging option that offers guests access to four restaurants, three cafes, and a communal bathhouse. With ski-in/ski-out privileges and proximity to beginner-friendly slopes, this hotel is ideal for winter sports enthusiasts. While the rooms are basic in decor, they are quite comfortable, and the staff is known for being incredibly welcoming. The breakfast buffet is particularly impressive.
Rooms are plain but very comfortable, staff very friendly, breakfast buffet is amazing! I found the ski field to be great too, I was near enough a beginner at the time and had an absolute ball. And it's a short trip to Furano to some really great eateries and restaurants if you fancy more than what they serve (which is not bad ). If you want 5 star accommodation, look elsewhere, but otherwise I can't fault the hotel, you can even buy a beer from a vending machine on your floor :))!

This hotel is really good.
It has very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
And the breakfast spread is very good.
The facilities at the onsen area, particularly the rest area is very therapeutic and relaxing.

Would consider a winter visit since its so near a ski gondola.
If I had to give a suggestion for improvement, if there was a free shuttle service from furano station to the hotel, that would make it alot more convenient.

Hotel location is FANTASTIC! It’s ski in/ski out located right on the slopes. If you’re staying here they give you free lockers by the slope entrance to store your ski gear. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good. The rooms are clean and has strong water pressure in the showers. The only negative I had here was there are no ATMs in the hotel and the closest one is way down in town, but if you have a car it’s not an issue, if not it’s about an hour walk! The food places out on the slopes only take cash which is why it’s an issue but the shops and restaurants in the hotel accepts credit cards.

The buffet breakfast and dinner was not good. Very limited variety and the poor quality. The room and facilities are tired and old

This was basically a ski in ski out experience for us! The hotel was located approx 50 metres from the nearest chairlift, walkable
Tickets can be purchased on the ground floor on a per day basis and there were lockers for snow equipment available to hotel guests, on-site parking available
Access to the onsen was also available with our rooms which was soooooo nice after a long day of snowboarding/skiing
Service from the hotel staff was always above and beyond
There are a couple of restaurants options within the hotel that are quite nice and fancier but we drove into town (approx 10 minutes) to grab dinner instead (make sure you make bookings in advance!)

Great accommodation option for a skiing holiday. Ski in ski out. The only improvement I would make is to add somewhere to sit and have a coffee or drink after a day on the ski fields.

Awesome place for ski! Powder snow!! Slopes just right next to the hotel. Great facilities!! Mingle Terrace and Kan Kan Mura are nice:) Breakfast is great with food variety. Onsen is super duper clean and cozy!!
