Jimmy Park is a charming and fanciful public space located near a train station. It boasts an array of vibrant and imaginative sculptures that make for excellent photo opportunities, surrounded by plenty of other attractions such as Wufengchi Waterfall and Luodong Night Market. Nearby Jiaoxi Township is renowned for its hot springs, with multiple hotels offering in-room options. Whether passing through the area or planning a longer stay, Jimmy Park provides ample opportunity for visitors to capture fond memories through their lens.
Jimmy's Park is a unique sculpture park that features over 100 pieces of artwork created by the artist Jimmy Liao. The park is located in the heart of Yilan City and is designed to be a space for visitors to relax, play, and appreciate art.
Some of the most popular attractions in the park include the giant slide, the interactive fountain, and the various sculptures that are scattered throughout the park. Additionally, there is a small gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs and snacks.
If you're planning to visit Jimmy's Park, I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing a camera to capture all the unique art installations. Also, be sure to check the park's hours of operation, as they may vary depending on the season. Finally, I would suggest bringing some snacks and drinks, as there may not be many options for food within the park.

As a fan of Jimmy’s art I was excited to look around. The upkeep of the area is not very good but it was still fun to look at the different sculptures and take pictures with them. Definitely a fun little experience if you are in the area.

Don't miss this awesome Instagram HOTSPOT, it's fun and you can spend sometime to take great photos. Around Jimmy Park, they are few more spots just next to each other and also cross the street. You just need to check where are the crowds at then you won't miss any great spots. One place called "Happiness Transfer Station" also cross street of Jimmy Park, if you are lucky you will see a very special bus parked in front of station for people get on and take photos and what's inside of the bus, just wait for you to find out. It will take you almost an hour to see these few parks around this area.

Right in front of Yilan station and the taxi area, few meters away from Luna plaza mall. A few steps would be smaller mall (I forgot the name) with a beautiful Starbucks branch. It’s a great leaisure park for resting or taking photos. I’ll take more photos next time and update the post

The Memorial Hall of Founding of Yilan Administration is a heritage building designed in Japanese architecture that showcases exhibits related to the history of Yilan, Taiwan. It provides a comprehensive elaboration of Taiwanese history from the Ching dynasty to the Japanese colony, making it an ideal destination for those interested in culture and history. The building has significant cultural significance and offers insight into how the area transitioned from colonial times to modernity. Visitors can also appreciate its unique old-fashioned Japanese-style design.
This restored Japanese-era house turned memorial hall and its garden full of old and massive fern covered camphor trees is a pleasure to visit. There's little information in languages other than Chinese (though the English pamphlet provided is appreciated!) however it's still lovely to wander through the house and garden. I especially loved the cool air and smell of cedar (or similar) that envelopes you as you slide open the front door.

This historical building and landscape might be one of the most beautiful Japanese architecture in yilan. It used to be governors residence. Many Trees that’s are more than 100 years old. The building is well preserved. But the yilan history is not well showcase.

Providing a full elaboration of Taiwanese history from the Ching dynasty to Japanese colony I must say this is my favorite place in Taiwan to visit. If you enjoy traveling to culture and history and most importantly local food treasure you must come here. Make sure you check their operating hours before you come I think they are closed on certain weekdays.

很棒的文化遺產。雖是翻修過,但氣息仍令人激賞。解說員非常專業, 圖式也清楚。非常值得參觀。
This is a great place to visit. The culture significance was rather high. The indication of the how the area cross over from the colonial period to modern time was intriguing. If u like the old Japanese style building, u don't want to miss this spot. Highly recommended.

Small place with a garden around the memorial house. Interesting to read about the history of yilan here. Very well ma maintained place. Cheap entry fee too.
The bustling Dongmen Night Market offers a variety of local foods and drinks, with both indoor and outdoor shops. However, caution should be exercised when choosing stalls to eat from, as some may use overused frying oil which contains trans fats that are harmful to health. Despite this, there are still reasonably priced and delicious food options available at the market, such as the hot pot place located on the left side of the fruit stalls inside.
Very big and spacious night market here at 花蓮 many selection!
Eugene Koh — Google review
actually, all the might markets in Taiwan nowadays are similar, or should I say all the same?
and you would find out, you meet the same food stand after 5-8 steps, ha
don't ask me which I would recommend to you.... come on, I am Taiwanese, I had eaten at thousands of night markets on this island
Amanda Stone — Google review
Usual night market fare and food selections. Some stores were closed, but still enough to choose from. Interesting that the stalls were under a bridge which makes it unique. Close by the main Yilan train station.

Lovely rainbow neon signboard and amazing scallion pancakes right at the entrance. However the rest of the stalls were mostly closed when I went and the place wasn't very clean. Can go if you just want to try the famous scallion pancakes.
Elizabeth Cheong — Google review
We were there for the food and the night market was just opening. We had a "Dan ping" which was good but the tempura stall's cooking oil was completely black which is a sign of overuse of the frying oil. Beware of eating food from these places as the food has trans fats which are really bad for health. There was a nice hot pot place on the left of the fruit stalls inside and their food was reasonable and delicious.

Be sure to try out the Taiwanese-style oyster omelette at this stall. Medium-sized night market with interesting and reasonably priced food options.

There are many shops under the overpass. I don't really mind the crowds. It's a compact night market.
髙良りょうじ — Google review
The night market comprises two sections, forming an 90 degree angle; one length under a flyover, and the other part of a street.
Most of the street food vendors are located under or along the flyover, where you see long queues for certain stores. Prices are slightly cheaper than those in Taipei. Variety is not exactly different, but local taste probably differs.
The other section is for shoppers or games (claw machines and other funfair games). These are not as fancy as those in Taipei.
Loong Wei Tho — Google review
A small night market with the usual fare for food snacks, meals and basic shopping. Very reasonable pricing for most items. Don't expect it to be similar to some of the bigger night markets that can boast of a myriad of eating and shopping options. This one can be over and done within less than an hour easily even as a first timer (not including any sit down meal time).

Went there just before the typhoon arrive. Not much stall open but still able to had my dinner there. The colorful sweet potato ball quite nice. Fried pork is good too.
Ang Waikin — Google review
Small but famous, touristic but characteristic. It covers all you feel like you can find in a night market, food and drink-wise.
All in all, not-very-impressiveness wins. However I did have a great skwey experience with 首都碳烤, even though the waiting was really long.
We did have a great time but it was just really small. Interesting merchants and shops are scattered around the market, juxtaposed in the already cramped apartment buildings (and the market is under a highway!). It did feel like an adventure, yet not culinary.
Cultivated speciality stands are more than I expected. Pretty cool, not culinary, again, nevertheless, at least in my opinion.
I believe if given more tries with dif merchants there's a chance I'd give 5 stars.
Last but not least, it's a relatively cheap market.
And oh, it's kinda near some cool spots in the Yilan city, so that's a bonus.
Sean Lin — Google review
This is a pretty good 夜市 by my standards. Wide variety of food choices and I would say better than Luodong night market even.
Atmosphere is there and on top of that food is p good. Had some condensed milk lemonade and charcoal grilled chicken wings which were superb. My wife got some noodles which she enjoyed very much too. Also has some small trinket shops to purchase knick knacks. Even if not purchasing anything still a good walk to soak into the TW atmosphere for tourists.

Very nice, large modern shopping mall with many popular brands, like Timberland, Roots, Muji, Uniqlo, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Swarovski, Levi's, & The North Face, among others. Large parking deck makes it easy to visit, and there are 3 floors of shops, plus many restaurants on a fourth floor. A video arcade is also there for the kids, as well as Starbucks, Mister Donut, and Coldstone Creamery on the first floor. Brick Ark Museum in Yilan City showcases Lego sculptures of various superheroes and giant turtles, while also offering DIY activities. Not bad but the place is little bit small. You can finish the whole exhibition within 30 mins. The DIY for kids is quite irrelevant to the Lego. You can have a try if you are close to this place or you like Lego so much (for those who love to watch Lego stature) Otherwise just ignore it!

Part-timers(i assume) follow standard operating procedures, left behind from covid times I assume. Strict steps by steps to get visitors to experience the building bricks activity.
However, we were the only people in there- it’s rather retarded to talk as if they were handling 2,000 people waiting outside.
The building block activity is ok, 99NT per pop. 5yo and above can do it themselves.
Other than that, there’s nothing much to see nor do. If you’re 3 minutes away, you can pop by.
If not, do not bother I would say.

A quiet and romantic place to be with DIY lessons readily available. 2 nice lady bosses guided us throughout and as there were no other customers on the Friday afternoon we visited, we had them all to ourselves for the lessons. Price-wise is a little steep though.

Diu Diu Dang Forest Park is a fascinating tourist destination that features an industrial canopy resembling a forest, complete with a flying train inspired by a renowned picture book author. It offers visitors an educational and entertaining experience, including touring the production area, whiskey tasting, and access to Mr Brown F&B outlet. The park's main attraction is the incredible hanging train located opposite the railway station in Yilan.
A worthy stopover if you are in Yilan. Not only they are photo worthy with the visitors, it is near other main attractions too. It is just opposite of the Jimmy's.
The floating train is impressive, and the friend who hosted our stay explained that they have to be detached and removed during typhoon seasons for safety reasons. Because of this, it maybe permanently moved to a new (indoor) location in the future. So, take photos as much as you can now.

Although there is free parking available, the selection of Taiwan beer is limited. For large groups of approximately 20 people, local tour guides are available for mini tours. This museum provides an opportunity to learn about the rich wine history in Yilan and enjoy special brewed draft beer.
great place to take a photo, also try the green onion icecream, it has unique flavor

This rundown distillery is quite underwhelming and can easily be skipped. It consists of just two small, old factories.
The first factory attempts to showcase the wine production process but lacks any detailed explanations, leaving visitors feeling uninformed. The second factory is essentially a shop selling beer and wines, which can be found in any convenience store or supermarket.
To make matters less appealing, when we visited on a Sunday, there were very few patrons, and we spent only about 15 minutes before deciding to leave. This distillery doesn't offer much in the way of a worthwhile experience.

Interesting stop to learn and taste the local produce and brewery. The distillery gives an ancient feel with the red brick walls and earthen wine jars. I can see the film set for a period 武侠片!
I was pleasantly surprised with the Kumquat Liquor, a refreshing beverage with a little alcohol content. You taste The Kumquat aroma and sweetness with every sip. Best served chill.

Not that much to do here... Just a run down property, in which the museum part of it takes up a small part. The rest which has turned into a tourist stop to sell goods, and a particular wine/distilled product with 'gold nanoparticles' which apparently has health benefits including anti cancer, anti aging properties. Or is it the wine? Lol. I enjoyed the museum part of it, which talks more about the history etc...

Maybe not the greatest place to bring young children (ages 2-4), but a wonderfully fun and educational experience. The space is open and very well lit, with lots of informative displays, infographic material, historical artifacts, and interactive displays about Yilan. Underneath the museum is a library that is a great place to study, read a book, or just quietly sit and think.
The displays are in Mandarin, but if you have a smartphone it is incredibly easy to translate. Additionally, there is a pamphlet available in both Japanese and English.
FYI: the museum entrance is directly behind the police station. On Google, it shows the police station as the location, but this is incorrect. Go to the building entrance about 80 meters behind the police station.

Located in the picturesque town of Jiaoxi, Yilan County in Taiwan, the Wufengqi Holy Mother Pilgrimage Site is a sacred destination for Catholics and pilgrims alike. The site boasts stunning scenery, nestled within a mountainous ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The area is also rich in history, as it was where the beginnings of Catholicism in Yilan started during the Boshin War back in the 19th century.
The highlight of the pilgrimage site is a mystical statue of the Holy Mother, standing atop a five-level scenic platform facing the ocean. The statue stands at over 19-meters tall, an imposing yet impressive sight to behold.
Visitors can opt to take either the slope or the winding stairs path to reach the platform. As they journey through nature’s beauty, the pilgrims’ prayers offer serenity, repose, and peacefulness, igniting a sense of purity and cleansing of the soul.
Additionally, the adjacent Kechao Memorial Park features lush greenery filled with pavilions that offer panoramic views, creating a serene haven of tranquility.
Overall, the Wufengqi Holy Mother Pilgrimage Site indeed offers a spiritually refreshing respite from urban life, providing visitors a glimpse into Taiwan's unexpected diversity of religious worship.

Came here with some friends during the Chinese new year holiday of 2022. There is a short trail of about 15 minutes before you reach the church where you will pass by a beautiful waterfalls. The place where the church itself is majestic. You could have an overview of a nearby town down the hill.

A tough vertical hike! We completed the trail one way in 2.5 hours and were exhausted! But the views at the top are amazing and well worth the climb. Bring 2-3 bottles of water, snacks and plenty of big spray. There are nice rest stops along the hike to break up the trails.
