Beautiful little mosque with an eclectic mix of Islamic and Chinese architecture. Lots of Chinese Muslims, especially elders, hanging around and chit chatting. A small market outside if you’re interested in their cuisine. No tickets necessary and I just strolled in around 5 pm.

Hohhot Grand Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. The Great Mosque was built in 1693 AD, renovated in 1789 and 1923 AD, and now covers an area of 4,000 square metres.
The mosque is a mixture of Chinese and Arabic architecture.
Chinese mosques during the Qing Dynasty had minarets that were a compromise between a purely Islamic minaret and a Chinese temple, that is, they were minarets crowned with a wing-type roof.
The Great Mosque of Hohhot contains a minaret.
Of the buildings here, all built of black brick, the grandest is the aptly named Great Prayer Hall, behind which lie the teaching hall and Islamic baths.
All the buildings inside have an Islamic character.
It is worth noting that there are more than 30 volumes of books of the Holy Qur’an in the Middle Ages, all written in Arabic.

(Translated by Google) This mosque is very approachable. We went for a walk on the Islamic Street after dinner, so we visited the mosque in the evening.
There are many Muslim elders in white uniforms inside the mosque. They gather together to chat, maybe waiting for the last evening prayer, right? !
When you walk into the mosque, you will see its clothing requirements for men and women, which is probably to wear clothes above the knees.
We also saw the characters "Republic of China" in the mosque! On the screen wall on the left side of the entrance, there are six characters inscribed "Cultivation of body, mind, sincerity and integrity". On the right side, you can see the words "13th year of the Republic of China...".
I was also very curious about the group of stone tablets in the temple. Each of the stone tablets was engraved with the four characters "The Lord is the only one".
Wangyue Tower, facing the gate, is a tall tower-like building. The crescent moon at the top is the most distinctive place.

The Five Pagoda Temple, built in the early 18th century, is a renowned place of worship featuring over 1,500 stone carvings of Buddha. While some buildings have undergone post-repair work, the temple's five pagodas remain intact and offer a breathtaking view. Visitors cannot reach the highest level but can admire its exterior beauty. The underground palace is currently not open to the public. History enthusiasts would find this temple worth exploring; however, it remains closed on Mondays.

Built in the 16th century and further enhanced in the following century, this temple is considered to be a very sacred place and serves as an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism for many visitors from across China.

Dazhao Temple, or Ih Zuu in Mongolian, is a nice temple with lots of Tibetan Buddhist stuff on the inside. It was 35 RMB to enter and it took me around an hour or so to walk through the entire complex with a relaxed pace. While a lot of the temple is very new and lacking in historical authenticity and also mixed with a lot of unnecessary Chinese trinkets and decorations, there are certain sections that are definitely much older and those are the things really worth seeing. Keep a keen eye out and you’ll find the diamonds in the rough.

Not many things to see. This is not a real tomb, it is just a place for people to worship Wang Zhaojun, but her body isn't inside. Fortunately, children do not need tickets, but adults can get tickets at a special window with their driving license. Our family was able to enter the museum for two or three hours. Shouldn't we be grateful to the museum for their humane arrangements? But it seems a bit unfair to other tourists. There are many exhibits from various eras in the museum.
