The Giraffe Centre is a conservation and breeding center for Rothschild giraffes. It's located in Kenya, and has feeding platforms, a forested nature park, and educational materials about the species.
This is a very beautiful home for giraffes. The staff were courteous and professional. Told is what to do. We paid via our cards. A calm lovely place. Got to feed giraffes.

This experience is perfect for all ages! The giraffes are so kind and very humorous. You will enjoy getting slimy warm tongues all over your hand, and the giraffes love posing for pictures! I would totally recommend this excursion.

What wonderfulness this place is to teach and learn about these gracefully stunning animals. They had ten fine Giraffes who all seemed very happy to munch half a coconuts feed from our hands. Breeding and maintaining a small herd in great facilities. Lovely shop too full of things, including one of the best chess sets I've ever seen. Come here and get up close to some charming gentle giants. Look out for the warthogs, too! If you are into sustainable biodiversity and conservation, then you must visit.

Great experience interacting with Giraffes at the centre. Feed pellets are provided at the entrance so as to lure the Giraffes close to you for great photos. The guides also provide insightful talks on these magnificent animals.

The Giraffe Centre is located in Karen, just around 20 kilometers from the heart of Nairobi. This sanctuary offers a remarkable experience that revolves around the Rothschild giraffe, an endangered species. The venue is not just a tourist attraction but a hub for education and awareness about wildlife conservation.
Pricing and Payments:
Foreign adult visitors are charged 1,500 Kenya Shillings, while the fee for locals is 400 Shillings. The centre accepts various forms of payment including card, cash, and M-Pesa, making transactions convenient for everyone.
Interactivity:
One of the standout features is the opportunity to hand-feed the giraffes from a raised platform, providing an intimate experience with these majestic creatures. The staff hands out pellets to feed the giraffes, making this a hit among children and adults alike.
Educational Value:
Staff members are not just caretakers but also educators. They offer valuable information about the giraffes, their conservation status, and what measures are being taken to protect them.
Nature Walk:
Directly opposite the main centre is a nature trail that offers a guided or self-guided walk. This allows visitors to explore the indigenous plants, birds, and smaller mammals in a tranquil setting, enhancing the overall experience.
Amenities:
For those looking to take a piece of the experience home, there's a gift shop that offers a range of eco-friendly souvenirs crafted by local artisans. A restaurant on-site offers refreshments and meals, making it easy to spend a half-day without worrying about dining options.
Overall Recommendation:
The Giraffe Centre is highly recommended for any visitor to Nairobi. It manages to blend fun, education, and conservation into a single experience, delivering excellent value for the entrance fee.
This place is not just a tourist attraction but an eye-opener that combines engagement with educational outreach. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone interested in responsible tourism and wildlife conservation.

It was an amazing place to visit, although not very big. It can take around an hour. The very best part is hand-feeding the giraffes, an amazing activity. There is also a small museum, in which we received a nice explanation.

It was such a fantastic experience. Giraffes are so adorable and beautiful. We can feed them and I really enjoyed interacting with them in a calm nature. When entering, nobody is allowed to take plastic bottles inside which can be retrieved. Great initiative for preserving the environment.

Loved the fact that there are guides present at all times because people tend to push limits with animals, the centre has well marked systems in place from entrance to exit and are very well organized. The giraffes are magestic and can be friendly once they warm up to you, you can also spot warthogs below I enjoyed my visit. Will definitely pay them a visit again.

It was a nice experience to feed the giraffes at the Giraffe Centre. However, the experience was just about a few minutes long. They had a place where they gave us some history about the place. Also, what I liked is they had several places where we could wash our hands with soap, making the experience very hygienic too.

It's a nice place. For Non Kenyan residents, the entry fees is 696 Kenyan Shillings. At the entrance, they use to provide food of Giraffes in a coconut shell which we need to feed to Giraffes with our Hands. You can click pictures with Giraffes.
It is really a fun place.

A lovely place to visit while in Nairobi. The place is family friendly and has ample parking space. They also have a restaurant and a small gift shop. Being a giraffe centre one can also learn about the various giraffe species, take pictures with the giraffe and feed them. Please make sure to also get a kiss with a giraffe while there. Highly recommend the place for a day visit.

This is a nice place located at the edge of the Nairobi. The place is a bit far and it takes around 40 minutes to get there. The place has a display of the history of the centre and has some exhibits. There are also large jigsaws of giraffes for young explorers.
The main activity is to feed the giraffes. The place takes care of hygiene of animals and humans alike. 30-45 minutes is the recommended time to stay. There is also a small restaurant and a souvenir shop here.

It's fun to go for a while to see the giraffes and be able to feed them. They close at 5:00 p.m. it is better to go in the morning because the giraffes are hungrier even though they eat all day. the place is next to the giraffe hotel. the tickets are purchased in the same place before you enter

A great experience for the family, feeding the giraffes up on a walkway so you are right up at their height. Probably only an hours activity, would definitely recommend.

We came excited to feed and take photos with the giraffes. It was fun to feed them and take photos. A must see for kids and adults who love giraffes. There were baby giraffes too ! It doesn’t take more than half an hour to go through the park. There is a museum section that you can learn about the history of giraffe center. There is another raised boardwalk section that you can feed giraffes and take photos.
The area has lots of security, is clean and well maintained. There is also a small stand to have food and drink when you are done. Multiple wash stations are available to wash your hands.
There could be more improvements in terms of maybe having more activities for kids. Maybe a section to have a giraffe centered playground.
As we were leaving we saw a trail that was open to the public across the center and we went it for about five minutes. We didn’t complete the trail though. We didn’t know how long it would take and there were no signs describing how long it would take.

The giraffes are so cute and photogenic. park is accessible and the staff is friendly.
My only issue is that there was no indication that the park doesn't accept cash until you get there. I might have missed it but as a foreigner I only had cash on me but the nice local ladies helped me out. Super thankful to them.
Great experience nonetheless ❤️

Come early to avoid the crowd. No need to book beforehand just turn up and pay by card at the counter. You have to wash your hands before feeding them. They are well taken care of and staff were very friendly. They also present an informative session about the giraffes which is interesting. A must do in Nairobi!!

A good place for info on Giraffe @ Centre .
The entry fees are to be paid by e-money which most non resident Kenyans visiting it would find difficult.
Suggest-The centre to charge some extra bobs for cash entry fees.
The work to create awareness is appreciable!Good place to spend an hour or so!

Worth a visit.
You can pay the tickets either with credit card or M-PESA. Cash is not allowed (corruption).
Going inside you have to do the security check, wash your hands, pay your tickets and go thru the ticket check. Please note, liquids or bottles are not allowed to bring with you. They must be given away at the security check.
Once you’re inside, you will get a small cup of food to feed the giraffes. You can also see a small museum or educational center to discover more about the giraffes. The area contains also a small restaurant and a gift shop.
Nairobi National Park is a large and important park in the city of Nairobi, Kenya. It is home to a variety of big game animals, as well as a number of animal sanctuaries. The park is an important place for people to see endangered species in their natural habitats.
Magical experience. I would recommend a morning visit during calm weather. You will be able to see lots of animals. Since they tend to hide when the sun is too hot. The during rainy season the roads are muddy.

The park will surely present a pleasant experience if you know when to go. It is advisable to first inquire on when the best time to visit the park is as the main attraction of animals such as lions can be hard to find at times. Lastly I would highly recommend a guide as they know where certain animals can be found and crucially when.

Conveniently located Right in the heart of the city. So for those of you visiting Nairobi for a short period, this is the park you need to visit.
Check migration dates etc before you venture out so that you aren’t disappointed.
I was quite intrigued but he ivory graveyard and the governments efforts to curb poaching by. Truly commendable.
Was so happy to see two lions as well. Thankfully they had just eaten, so were resting and we got a fairly close up shot of them.
You definitely need a local guide/driver to take you in or else you’d be happy hire lost.
Yes it’s a trifle expensive for non-residents

I just love the fact that it is right in the city!!! So you can just take a cab and go.

If you have a bit of time to spare, visit this park! The number of animals you can see here is astonishing considering how close it is to the city.
We took a half day tour and found all of the animals we were hoping to see. Lions, black and white rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, zebras, impala, eland, masai giraffe and much more.
I also counted over 50 different species of birds including white-backed vulture and secretary bird. Two species I hoped to see.

Definitely not the most picturesque park in Kenya, but a great option very close to the city. Your best opportunity to see rhinoceros as they can be very hard to spot in the other national parks. The park is a nice introduction to Safari.

The good thing about that it is located in the center so you don't need to drive miles away to see some animals specially if you dont have enough time and they have many animals in side the park.....my recommendation is to be patient and don't make the drive rush you to exit and keep finding and tracking the animal..enjoy :)

Magical time I had here, just less than an hour from the city centre. Went for the safari in the morning was a great choice - to feel the breeze while enjoying the sunrise with the wildlife animals around. Took the 4x4 with James as our driver - he was an excellent driver and guide!

Lovely! We decided to treat the kids to a breakfast picnic at the park, followed by a self-drive game drive. The park roads have been freshly graded since our last visit so the drive was much more enjoyable. The animals were also quite in plenty. Best time though is early morning or late afternoon when most predators are out and about. We are planning another one soon... #TembeaKenya

I visited this park in September, 2915. I still have a lot of pictures. Just wanted to share with you guys. This safari is about 100+ square kilometers. Tremendous amount of wild live. Need to spend a whole day there. Make sure your car/truck does not breakdown inside the park. It is scary to have that thought cross your mind. Definitely recommended.

A nice experience but despite being out in the “safari” for several hours we did not see very many animals, at least not as many as expected.

The park as a way to fill in a day between flights and wow was it worth it! Our first national park but was a bit hesitant as it was so close to the town but we were not disappointed. We did have some issues paying the entrance fee as their credit card machine was not working and apparently often has issues.
Lucky for us, our guide paid with his own card and we paid him the cash directly As soon as we went through the gates we saw animals almost immediately! The city skyline behind was just mind blowing If you have been to the Serengeti or any of the other great parks, this isn't spectacular, however we did see Rhinos , buffaloes. If we need to look at the beauty at the National Park will see that more needs to be done for the animals to make them more attractive. It would be easier to track animals for easy spotting. Sometimes we drove aimlessly for minutes. Looked like it was waste of time and the zoo would probably be the best bet. Getting to see the animals in their natural state is exciting. so it as great to tick that one off so early Worth the visit it. We saw lions and Buffalo.

The only national park in the middle of a city!!
It was so amazing seeing quite a number of animals even the rare species like Cheetah, ostriches, rhinos, gazelles those that you do not see very often in just one hour. Very easy to drive though on a rainy season you need a four wheel for it kinda gets slippery. Had such an amazing time there with friends. Lions are so close up for good photography. Quite herds of antelopes and giraffes not forgetting the beautiful scenery of the city from a far.🥰

I recommend going early in the morning because it's not hot so you have a better chance of seeing most of the animals. I was happy to see the lions, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, impalas, zebras, guinea fowls etc. I would have loved to see all the big 5 though. The sunrise was breathtaking. It was a nice 3 hours drive.
The Karen Blixen Museum is a museum in Nairobi, Kenya, that contains the belongings of Danish author Karen Blixen. The home where she lived and wrote her famous memoirs is also on display. The museum offers guided tours throughout the week and on weekends until 6 p.m., which give tourists a peek into colonial life in the 20th century.

History at the palm of a hand, is probably appreciated a bit more if you watch " Out of Africa" first. Disappointingly no animals on site, regardless a "must-see " if you are in Nairobi. My advice would be to get a local Sim card with Safaricom and get Mpesa, it's such a popular payment method in Kenya, that it will make your stay MUCH easier. Have a good time.

It is a nice place with lots of history...the museum itself is the house Karen Blixen lived in so going there is getting a glimpse into her life and how she lived; what utensils and other home articles were available to the elite that time...her story is an interesting though sad one a little. There is also a small nature forest for those who love to go on nature trails and the field is beautiful for chilling on your shukas and picnic baskets

It’s interesting to visit as a Dane, and it is amazing how much impact Karen Blixen have had on the area, given the relative short stay.

Rich in history. A wonderful very well kept place with excellent guides. A must see in Nairobi.
The Elephant Nursery is a place in Kenya that takes care of orphaned elephants and rhinos. It was founded by Dame Sheldrick, a conservationist who worked with her husband to reintroduce these animals back into the wild. You can visit the nursery and adopt an elephant as a way of supporting their conservation.
What a truly amazing place and incredible experience.
The volunteers at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust do a brilliant job of rehabilitating and looking after the elephants and it is very evident that the elephants are very happy and comfortable with their surroundings.
Absolutely no mistreatment of any kind to the elephants which was wonderful to see.
On to the experience itself: There is only a one hour slot to see the elephants which is 11-12. You will arrive and then walk to the area the elephants are fed. You will all stand around the edge of the enclosure and observe them being fed and playing. There are chances to touch the elephants and take pictures as they roam around. This all takes place while you learn more about the Trust and the elephants themselves.
A few things to note regarding the experience as a whole:
1. The ground where you walk, from parking up to seeing the elephants is extremely uneven! (I did see however provisions in place for wheelchair users)
2. You do not get to feed the elephants (This is due to not wanting the elephants to get to trusting of humans as eventually they are released into the wild)
3. If you go on a dry day the ground is extremely dusty! Your shoes and clothes (potentially) will get dusty for sure!
Overall though an absolute must do experience in Nairobi!

Such an amazing place, considering the work they do on behalf of orphaned baby elephants. The elephants are simply beyond adorable. It’s so fun, watching the babies play in mud and with each other and to pet them as they walk past. Also, while they enjoy playing in the muddy water, they can splash spectators with the muddy water, as they did the people standing around me (I had faster reflexes…lol)…such fun. Definitely a must -do activity.

A must visit for children or adults. David Sheldrick trust are doing a commendable work rescuing helpless elephants and rhinos. Book your visit in advance as the viewing time window and strictly one hour 11am- 12noon. Only limited number of spectators are allowed in so as not to stress out the animals. They way these babies understand cues and admonishes from the attendants like little kids is just adorable. They give you stories of each rescue and let you sponsor the orphans and send you regular updates on them. They give you time to ask questions at the end of viewing. It's a lovely place to be.

An educational and preservation center, where the focus is on the baby elephants well-being.
Do not expect a “circus show”, but some real eye opening experience.
The baby elephants are presented for only 1 hour each day, during this time you can observe them feeding and playing.
I appreciated the lead caregiver explaining the history of each baby elephant: where was found, in which condition, what happened to its mother, how it evolved in the nursery and of course its name.

The Ngong Hills are a series of pointed green hills that resemble the back of a fist facing the sky. Close to Nairobi, they provide an ideal respite from the city heat, and are a popular spot for hikers and picnickers. The hills are part of a ridge overlooking the Great Rift Valley, making them an ideal place to picnic if you and your partner want to relax.
If you haven’t been here then you don’t like two things! 1. Hiking 2. Views
Well, this is a perfect activity that will get you outside to experience nature walking and bonding with friends or strangers.

It is located on the outskirts of ngong town. The entrance fee is 232 per person for citizens. You are allowed to carry snacks and drinks into the area if you are there to have a picnic. The hike is very enjoyable and the views are breathtaking. If you decide to hike all 7 hills there is a gate on the other side so you don't have to hike back for an exit. However the second exit is on the side of Kiserian. You can take a bike from there back to Kiserian town then take one back to town or go to Ngong town from there. The downside is that there are no directions especially past the 7th hill you can walk for a sometime feeling lost

Great place for hiking! This mountain has lots of sports activity however due to corona some of them suspended. From the main gate un to the place called Kompass restaurant it will take you two hours walking but you can still continue up to the other end of the mountain if you like. The scenery and landscape give you a pleasant feeling. This hill has wind mills, the noose of the fans make you scary, at some point you feel that it is about to fall on you 😀 but do not scare ! Better go with your picnic gears, water and food.

Ngong Hills forest (Ngong means knuckles in the Maasai language) covers an area of 3077 hectares with a spine of seven ranges covering 11.5km. It consists a 12-kilometer section from the Kenya Forest Services barrier to Corner Baridi. It is located 40km southwest of Nairobi city. As you walk towards the trails, you see the wind park with dozens of towering windmills. To hike with ease, you need warm clothing in cold climate as temperatures can drop to dangerous levels, and light shoes with good threads. You can also purchase a walking stick from the local vendors for as little as 50 shillings.
Notable places in Ngong hills include Chief Olonanan Ole Batian gravesite (was an outstanding Maasai and leader, African chief and a prophet/visionary, during the second half of the 19th, and the first decade of the 20th centuries), the solitary grave of Denys Finch Hatton, marked by an obelisk and garden, located on the eastern slopes of the Ngong Hills, overlooking the Nairobi National Park and Ziplining at Kompass which charges Ksh 1,000 per head. Oher than a hotel, there are also snacks and jewellery and ornamentation vendors in random spots along the trails.
To get to Ngong hills from Nairobi CBD you use Ngong road and branch at Ngong town junction near the matatu terminus and branch right after a few meters up road for about a kilometer. If using public means, from Nairobi CBD, Board a Ngong Matatu near railways. Once you alight at Ngong town, board a boda boda for only ksh. 100 - 150 and they will drop you at the KFS barricade where you pay. If from Rongai and environs, board any matatu going to Kiserian via Magadi road. From Kiserian, board a Ngong matatu where you will board a bodaboda to your destination.
The entrance charges are ksh. 232 for adults and ksh. 58 for kids. Ngong Hills opening hours are from 8:00 am and closing at 5:00 pm.

Really nice scenery, cool weather and activities be careful with your belongings though. Things might have changed but there was a time (during COVID) that local boys hang out there for other businesses other than viewing of good scenery.

Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages is a well-established and lovely place with a diverse menu catering to various needs and cultures. The atmosphere is cozy and upmarket, offering great service, ambiance, and food. Despite some slow service, the overall experience is enjoyable as you immerse yourself in the surroundings. The establishment provides excellent food and service in a calm, green environment that's favored by many visitors to Nairobi.
The ambiance was calm, the food was great, and worth the wait. It was a perfect retreat just the two of us away from the normal day-to-day. We'll definitely be making another visit soon!!

Stopped by for a quick lunch, and Lewis did such an excellent job guiding us on meal options and ensuring the meals were served very quickly. The food was very good, and nice portions.
The setting is perfect. Seated under beautiful trees, with a water feature running close by....all the stress just falls away, forgotten.
We had a lovely time.

The service at this restaurant was wonderful! I loved how upscale the environment felt. It was also warm and welcoming. I loved the variety of bread as an appetizer. I decided to try a burger here. It had so much potential but fell short. I was asked how I would like my burger to which I replied “well done”. When I received my burger it was pink in the middle. The server saw this for himself and was super understanding and took my burger back to be cooked longer. After it had been brought back I was super excited to eat being as though everyone in my party had already finished their food. When I took my first bite I saw that the burger was still undercooked. Instead of sending it back again I decided to take it home and cook it until well done for myself. I would dine here again however I won’t be trying another burger.

Quite a cosy upmarket place. Great service, great ambiance and great food. Downside was at the gate where the security saw my car and automatically asked if I was dropping someone, mostly SUVs drive in here.

We spent the whole afternoon here, forgetting about time completely. The food was fresh and delicious, chosen from a menu with a wide variety. I was surprised at how low the bill was, considering the stunning surroundings and delicious food. I'll definitely be recommending the coffee garden to all my friends. Thank you for the great food and friendly service.

I was looking for a quiet place to work through the day and I think I’ve found my home away from home!
The service was absolutely top, I was sat in the far booths that are in the garden, they made sure that they kept checking in on me as they knew I was at a distance. I had an issue with one of the meals, although the way it was dealt with was what made the service so amazing that the issue doesn’t even matter.
I can’t really review much of the food as I only had the starters and they were great, I would definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere is serene, the views and vibes were everything.

Lovely location and ambiance.such a great place for lunch on a sunny day. Sadly the salad was disappointing. I had roasted beetroot, orange and goats cheese. Flavours disappointingly bland and goats cheese just a few crumbs. I'd rathe pay a bit more and have a more adventurous approach to that combination which can be so delicious.

The weekend buffet here is amazing. You'll have to confirm with the staff which days it's happening just to be sure.
Buffet includes a welcome drink, full course meal & a cup of coffee to wrap things up. At shs.7,500 per person (as of Feb 2024), it's pricey, but with the amount of food available to you, it's worth it.
The location is really great too. Wonderful setting to have a meal.
It would be the perfect way to give yourself a big treat on a weekend.

It’s sad to give such a beautiful space 3/5 . The service was questionable. Took the waiter about 20 min intervals to bring each drink (3 drinks).
We ordered medium rare steak and mushed potatoes, it came fully well done and the mushed potatoes were chunky and dry.
The pizza was 3/10. The salad was good though .
The ambience is at least a 10/10 this space is just WOW!!
They just need to work on the food menu and the service

We went to the karen blixen restaurant, we did not stay at the hotel. Beautiful location in a beautiful well kept garden. The food was good. Three of us ordered fish and chips and one of us a burger, both dishes although pricey they were good. Our biggest let down however was the service. Both dishes that we ordered came with French fries. There were four of us and they brought us 1 tiny sauce cup with ketchup barely enough for 1 person. Right away we requested for 2 more although you would think that for the price we paid for food we could each have our own. Then we spent our whole meal waiting for our ketchup to come and on 3 occasions we asked and even had to get up almost to the kitchen to ask again and again for ketchup. Finally by the time the ketchup arrived we were all basically done with our meals. Then we wanted to order more drinks but there were no waiters around to order from. Our waitress only came back quickly to bring us our bill. For such a high end restaurant the quality of service does not match in a place where they charge you 900 shillings for a scoop of ice cream, you would expect much better service. Unfortunately it's not the first time we encountered this issue here.
Will Cowell — Google review
We went to the restaurant for coffee and cake. We expected something special - considering the prices higher than in most European traditional patisserie (a piece of cake is 1600,—). The service was friendly but very slow; and obviously bad or not trained at all and very inexperienced. We waited about 30 minutes for the coffee. Coffeepots were not clean - one had even red sauce on the outside so I asked for a replacement. We waited about 10 minutes more for the three pieces of different cakes.
The presentation was nice (but not a wow effect). All three of us experienced a strange taste, nearly simultaneously. It was a taste of chlorine or some kind of cleaning product. You could even smell the chlorine.
After we complained to our waitress, it took another 15 minutes until a head waiter came who apologised and told us that the manager would comes. This took another 5-10 minutes. He confirmed that the cake was not good and asked if we wanted to order something else which we denied. We asked for the invoice - another 10 minutes of wait. Instead of inviting us (considering that this chlorine could be harmful) they just took off the cake from the bill.
The worst gastronomical experience of our 2.5 weeks in Kenya (and the most expensive too); on our last day before leaving home.
Jens Kuehn — Google review
I did not like the service, it was too slow and they prioritized whites. It took us 10 minutes to sit and another 40 minutes for a waiter to come to take our orders.
The racism was so palpable, we therefore decided to go eat at another location. Its very sad when you face racism from your own country men.

Eateries also quite impressive and if you have children, they will not run out of stuff to do! The Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi offers a stunning view of the city from its helipad at the top. Visitors can access this panoramic view by taking a lift to the top floor and climbing two more floors by stairs. The center opens early, allowing for breathtaking views of both sunrise and sunset. In addition to the impressive vistas, visitors can also learn about Kenyan history and culture through informative displays throughout the building.

Great view of the city of Nairobi from the Helipad at the very top. The Entrance fee is 500 shilling and has to be paid by card, there's also an ATM there. Take the lift to the top floor (27th?!) and then it's two more floors up by stairs. The last one is quite narrow. The view at the top is really nice and you have a 360° panoramic view. It opens at 6am and closes at 9pm, so you can also watch the sunrise and sunset from up here. Bring some drinks and enjoy the view.

The National Museum of Kenya (NMWK) is a museum in Nairobi, Kenya. It has collections on East African heritage and history, including paintings, tribal artefacts, and a skeleton or two. The museum also houses collections on nature, culture, and contemporary art. The main attraction is the early man section with fossils dating back to 18 million years ago.
Completely enjoyed my visit to this museum. They had 9 galleries encompassing everything from history, anthropology, animal kingdom, Kenyan tradition and more. You can get a tour guide to show you around free of charge, who was very good and knowledgeable, and I tipped very well. There are several gift shops, a restaurant, a small garden, and a snake display for an additional charge. It’s a very good visit.

One of the best ways to spend a day in nairobi. Was a pleasant surprise. We were there for 3.5hours but it still felt rushed. We had an awesome time. Its clean, modern and oh so rich. There’s culture, history, an aquarium, a snake/reptile park, a nature walk and a cafe.
You have an option to take a guide (a must for our next visit).

What a beautiful museum. I visited today and spent about 3.5 hours here. Bring cash - I paid 1280 shillings. I also recommend that you take your time and walk around without a guide. There are sections of the museum dedicated to the history of Kenya, archeological discoveries, different animals (including a dedicated section of thousands of types of birds), and cultural artifacts. My favorite part was seeing fossils of some of the oldest humans. Stop by the two gift shops, the garden by the Snake park, and the restaurant.

I very much enjoyed visiting Nairobi National Museum and the Snake Park.
I was amazed by the African bird exhibit and the literally thousands of birds they had on display. A wealth of information for African wildlife fans.
The central back and currency section was fascinating also. I hadn't realized how much foreign influence there was in Kenya and their banking system.
The snake park was interesting and lots of variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes on display. The red spitting cobra seemed the most interested in us and say upright most of the time we were near that display. Also several turtles and crocodiles on display.
The only thing I felt disappointed with was the much bigger cost for non-residents. It's common here in Kenya, but the difference for citizens and non-residents is steep. But not so much as the national parks here. 🤣

It's awesome place but there also some issues like a entry charges, food court there is lots of hidden charges. Like if you want pay cash on desk they are not accepting cash only Mpaisa. If you wont pay cash you need pay 80 shelling extra, I had buy some food is too expensive like one cocacola 500ml is 300 shelling. So I hope in future it's will be improv.
Otherwise this place is nice, also there have one snake 🐍 parck lots of types snake available there.

The museum was a great experience (especially on a raining day in Nairobi). Our residence permits for us into the museum and snake park for 600. Museum offered a wide range of history and artwork representing Kenya’s culture, wildlife and political history. The snake park was a great addition where you can see reptiles and tropical fish. For the fullest experience I would allocate 1-2 hours for the museum and 30-60 minutes for snake park. Great for all ages and very family friendly with helpful staff and tour guide options.

Remember this is a UN and there are strict rules to what to being in or not and also get ready for Airport like security check🙊🙉🙈
The African Heritage House is a beautifully designed and historically significant home that attracts photographers from all over the world. The grounds are very lush and full of interesting artifacts, making it an ideal spot for Instagram photos. The architecture of the house is unique and eye-catching, while the rooms inside offer insights into various cultures in Africa.
Amazing collection of art and fashion from all around africa. Amazing setting, facing onto Nairobi national park. Definitely visit when staying in Nairobi. Hilary was a great tour guide.

Took a virtual tour online, will visit physically once the covid situation subsides. It looks very interesting from what i was able to see on the online virtual tour. The african artifacts and the architecture of the structure are so awesomely done. The views to the Nairobi National park are breath taking. Definitely have to visit this place physically!! 😎

Incredible place. Astounding collection of beautiful art from across Africa. The tour is fascinating. Food is delicious. Amazing views. Staff are great. Just don't pay in dollars as they rip you off on currency exchange. Other than that caution, this place is sensational.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to African Heritage House! It had lots of art, history and culture to offer. It’s not too far from the CBD (about an hour’s drive) but offers such serene views of the park. Would highly recommend as a quick day trip with friends. Or if you’re looking to get some cool IG pics too. 😉

A fascinating place to see pieces of Kenyan and African art and history. Take the time for a guided tour. Go in groups of 4pax to take advantage of the best value for entrance fees. If you can, stay to watch the sunset over the Nairobi National Park.
African Heritage House is a walking dream into the as african cultural conscious. An awaken, a home to our thoughts, a shelter to our primal beginning.
I would re-visit this home to my ancestors. I wish more people can support and help them keep the lights on. I hope to do so myself by giving them my ability. Please help this place survive

Tribe Hotel, located in the heart of Nairobi’s vibrant Village Market district, is a luxurious urban business hotel with an architecturally appealing design inspired by the city’s creative and industrious renaissance. With comfortable beds, a chic rooftop bar and an outdoor pool & gym, it offers all the amenities you need for a relaxed stay in Kenya's capital.
The staff at this hotel deserves a 5 star! Very friendly and helpful. I actually felt quite sad when I checked out cause I know I would miss their friendly faces.
Location wise, the hotel is situated right next to an exclusive mall, with many food choices. The security is good at the hotel and I felt very safe.
The breakfast is tasty and good! And every evening, they will give each room a small bar of chocolate which is really yummy!
My only complain is that my room (106) is right on top of the bar. On Friday night, it was quite "happening" with music and people partying. But the music and party stopped at 12 midnight sharp.
Thank you Tribe for a memorable stay in Nairobi!

I just spent ten days at this wonderful hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Nairobi. The staff is very helpful, friendly and professional (with a special mention for Violet, Barbra, Winfred and Geoffrey who always greeted me with a glowing smile). The food is excellent, the decor is tasteful and the rooms are beautifully furnished and are as comfortable as I've ever experienced. I won't hesitate to return to the Tribe Hotel on my next trip.

Only issue i have is that the TV channels are very limited but the fast WiFi allows for streaming services to run without a hitch ....i highly recommended 👌

I’ve stayed here twice and loved the hotel. The rooms are excellent and food is awesome.
The only minor complaint that I have is don’t stay on the floor under the pool. I couldn’t sleep the one night due to some noise from the pool systems. But luckily it was only one night. I love this hotel.

Excellent in every way. During the course of our safari we stayed there on three different nights. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I forgot our passports and all of our money in the safe. I realized it a few hours later and our guide contacted the hotel. They sealed the room and the manager went with me to the room to open the safe. Nothing had been touched. Each and every staff member was extremely nice and very professional

Truly an above par experience. Upon arrival you are immediately welcomed with the unique architecture and ambiance. Art hangs from the walls of the exotically shaped lobby where there are colorful sofas available to relax.
Rooms are airy decorative and super comfortable.
Relax by the pool decked out with waterfalls and artful rocks positioned by the insight restaurant.
It’s an oasis of serenity nestled inside the village market mall complex, yet distinctly separate.
Staff are above and beyond. Well mannered personable and welcoming. Notably Valentine who usually hangs out by the executive club on the fourth floor where members get to enjoy (complimentary) a delectable spread of breakfasts and dinner options.
No signs of ware and tear show inside the rooms and all functions operated properly (including the toilets which actually flushed unlike other European style low pressure bathrooms).

Sadly there was a problem with my room and I was unable to check in. Not what you want at 4 in the morning after a tiring flight. However Kate managed marvelously and paid attention to the point of taking us to our alternative hotel. I do hope the problem was not through over booking but otherwise the handling was absolutely first class.

The Tribe Hotel was absolutely perfect. My husband has been staying there for business (he's very pleased with the hotel) and we couldn't have felt more welcomed during our one-week vacation/family visit. Expect that your expectations will be exceeded.
The highlight, of course, is the hotel's team. Everyone -- and I mean, everyone -- from the valet team, housekeeping, front desk, lounge staff, security, management -- is welcoming, friendly, helpful, and truly hospitable. Valentine in the lounge had such a connection with our family, including my little one, even joining him in visiting magical creatures in the rooftop garden and letting him help her water the plants.
Another things I really appreciated was the incorporation of so many local products (the toiletries are great, the Kenyan gin 100%), local cuisine (ugali hash browns, a cognac-tamarind cocktail were favorites) and tribal artwork/handicrafts. I felt like I was someplace between an art gallery and a perfectly-appointed home. I've been begging my husband to figure out how to get a black and white beaded chair like the one in the lobby.
The pool is great and there's a nice lounge area. I think it's heated sometimes in the evening as well. Pool towels were sometimes hard to come by (but the restaurant staff was great to round them up quickly). The spa looks like it's probably nice. The elite lounge is excellent, serving breakfast and robust apps and drinks from 6-9p.
I would stay here again and again and recommend the hotel to any type of traveler. Staying here really made our short trip to Kenya absolutely wonderful.

Overall, nice aesthetic and clean. Rooms were also spacious, and quiet.
Second night- there was a private event, which in comparison to the first night/ was much noisier, especially as we were located right next to the pool/ event area. Clean up could be heard for a few hours after the event completed. (As a courtesy- guests should probably not be booked in the rooms (we were in #602) that are near that area if they are not apart of the event).
Spa services were definitely a plus that we decided to add on after our long flight.
There was also a gym facility that was open 24 hours, so I was able to utilize this both days of our stay.
The food was good, there was sufficient selection for both dietary and allergy restrictions/ preferences.
While we didn’t venture out too much in the immediate area, it was overall a safe environment.
It was a great place to stay after the airport & long flight into Nairobi, would definitely stay again.

The Tribe is renowned as one of the most stylish hotels in Nairobi, offering exceptional interior designs, an impressive pool area, and a sophisticated lounge. However, it is important to note that the Club rooms is too small for couples, but they are suitable for solo travelers.
The restaurant at The Tribe boasts a charming ambiance with lush foliage and offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. However, it is unfortunate that the staff did not provide attentive service, and although the food was beautifully presented, it fell short in terms of taste.
The Kenya Railway Museum is a comprehensive and interesting museum that celebrates the rich history of the railway in Kenya. The museum features locomotives, coaches, a mini railroad, and more, and it's dedicated to the history of the country's rail network. It's an excellent place to learn about the role of railways in Kenyan development, and it's also fascinating to explore its collection of artifacts.
It's a nice place to visit. It's very historical and very cheap. It has history about Kenya railways in pictures and objects. There is a display of trains at the train yard. Guides are available but I wouldn't recommend them. It a nice place to visit especially in the weekdays you will have all time to yourself

Awesome place to go and check out all the engines. The exhibition itself and information on the history is very basic and limited, but some interesting photos and documents. Once you get outside though, they let you climb around on all the engines and have free rein to explore so it's great fun and really worth a quick visit for an hour or two.

The Kenya Railway Museum is an awesome and very informative place to visit, and at only 200/-... Affordable. It has a history bit where train models as well as furniture and accessories used during the colonial era are placed. There is also a guide on hand to offer information. The train "relics" that are outside are marvels to say the least, and massive. There is also an art shop where one can purchase or request for customized art pieces. Make a point of visiting it, and marvel at Kenya's rail history.

First time visiting this museum. I entered through the TUK side and the walk to the museum was a really nice one. There are nicely lined trees and a well maintained walk way with graffiti walls. I was informed that the work was done by the artists that used to be in the small independent art workshop in the museum. They are not related though. I do not know anything about trains nor am I particularly interested in them but I still wanted to visit. Payments are made through e-citizen. There are three rooms with various models of trains, ships, old technology and the history of the railway. I thought it strange that both the current SGR and the old railway both faced interesting obstacles. One was man eating lions and the other was strange weather phenomenon( rumours... But very ear catching rumours either way🤔). There was also a very old calculating device that looked like a lot of work and I would be quite interested to know how it works. Some of the things on display were quite interesting and I had a few ohhh... moments. The last place is outside where the trains are. Unless you have a guide or have a very keen interest in trains, you will just be looking at old trains. I felt that more could be done here. Some trains are quite worn out on the inside as well. Since I don't know anything about trains nor am I particularly interested in trains, I cannot say much about this section. There is an art gallery as you enter the train section. They display art by various artists and they do have a sip and paint. If art is your thing, you can check them out.

What an amazing place if you are a railway aficionado! Extremely well maintained. The locomotives and heritage coaches take you to a totally different world. Alas their gift shop did not have anything worthwhile except from Tshirts and caps. Full marks to Kenyan Railways for ensuring that this place continues to be well maintained and tourist friendly.

Entry is 200bob for an adult Kenyan Resident. It's easier to access it through shell petrol station, however you can access the place through technical university of Kenya, quite a nice walk (in my opinion).

This museum is tucked away behind Rubis petrol station off Uhuru Highway & Haile Selassie Avenue. It's reasonably priced and has a lot of unknown historical knowledge about the creation of the East African railway. We had a very knowledgeable & friendly guide called Michael who explained how the railway idea began all the way through to the present time. There were plenty of pictures, articles, models, old & new artefacts to see & any questions regarding the process & progress of the creation of the railway were answered. The actual locomotives & carriages once used in service & even movies are on display in the yard. There is also an art gallery on site.
Edwin Muraya — Google review
Another testimony to the incompetence of Kenya’s museum system. The once impressive main attractions are rotting away without any care given to them and the staff is unable to explain even the basic function of a steam train.
Inside the exhibit the newer parts remain partly built, as basic tools are missing as we were explained.
The children’s railway, which could be great fun for little visitors, has not seen any maintenance in years, is overgrown and completely inoperable.
Even the cheap entry is not worth it, especially as the museum staff seems to not care at all about anything here.

Nice place to visit for an afternoon you are within the capital of Nairobi. The museum has rich exhibits from east Africa's rail history since the early nineteen hundreds. Outside are various locomotive engines and some passenger wagons that were used then. They are well kept and maintained for future generations to View. I highly recommend this visit very interesting and amazing. You will learn more about the Kenya railway. Very interesting and would highly recommend!!

Good to say you've been there at least once but there's not much to do..
During the day the weather is nice but it gets very windy and cold in the late evening into nightfall so carry warm clothing!
If going for an individual tour, it could be nice but if you are going for an event.. you need to be well prepared!
In the rainy season, you're better off going in gumboots because the mud will ruin your shoes. On the other side of the tracks there are mini boulders so you need to wear comfy closed shoes to avoid any injuries cause the ground is heavily uneven!
For bigger events you need to be prepared especially ladies. There's barely any tissue so carry your own.
Toilet paper is controlled by a man that yells at you for taking more than 2 squares of the toilet paper. If you want more, he will demand you "buy him a soda" for his generosity.
There was barely any running water in both washrooms so carry enough wet wipes and sanitizer.

A beautiful park, tucked away in the ever bustling Nairobi city.
It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. There was a 65 shillings fee to be paid at the gate before entering the park. There are various fees listed on the booth, especially for those wanting to do photo shoots etc.
The park was nice and cool, I was meeting someone here and I found where they were sitting with ease. There are a few benches scattered around, as well as ice cream carts to buy a treat.
It would be an ideal place to hold a picnic or just go there to quietly enjoy a book. It feels rather safe and there are washrooms towards the entrance.
I can’t wait to visit again

The Aboratum nature walk in Nairobi is a hidden gem that offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. This nature trail is located just a few minutes' drive from the city center and is perfect for nature lovers, bird watchers, and anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The walk spans over 5 kilometers and is nestled in a forested area that is home to a variety of flora and fauna.
The path can be narrowed at times, requiring some maneuvering, but is generally well-maintained. The walk is easy to navigate, with tree signage indicating different trail routes, making it perfect for hikers of different skill sets. The Absoratum forest is a breathtaking sight to behold, with towering trees that create a canopy that filters the sunlight beautifully. The trail’s serene atmosphere and natural beauty make it a fantastic place to unwind and find inner peace.
As a bird watcher, I was thrilled to spot several species of birds in the forest, including the African pied wagtail, African harrier hawk, and olive sunbird. The walk is not just a feast for the eyes but also the ears, with birdsongs filling the air, making for a truly immersive experience.
Overall, the Aboratum nature walk is a must-visit when in Nairobi and a fantastic place to enjoy nature's beauty. The trail offers a delightful escape from the busy Nairobi city, with a serene environment to relax and unwind. So, I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in Nairobi.

I went for a solo walk and I never felt any safer. This park is easily accessible from Westlands via the kileleshwa road on foot, personal car or psv and also in town if you use the YMCA side. Although the entrance fee has increased to KES 110 it is still quite affordable. If you compare it with other park fees, this is probably the most affordable. You pay via mpesa as opposed to Ecitizen which is a relief honestly. This park is very well organised. There are arrows guiding you onto different paths with markings of the distance on each path. The paths range from very short, to medium walks. There are also some paths with a bit of steep climbing to really get a good workout. If you also want to just relax on the grass or chairs and read a book, this is also an option. Given there are plenty of people who use this park for prayers and can thus get loud, there are still plenty of quite spaces especially near the bamboo trees. There are a few monkeys as well. If you want to make a family day out of it, there is a kids play area with swings and slides. That particularly area is huge and can definitely accommodate more games such as badminton if you have the rackets, hula hooping... one can get creative. I think this park is ideal for walkers, joggers, book club meetings, group games like treasure hunts and such, dates because it isn't isolated, yoga in the park and such activities. I really enjoyed my walks here. It is also very clean. I definitely recommend the park. There is a plant nursery not sure if one can buy plants or not. Would be a wonderful way to contribute to the park for upkeep and all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very cool place to chill, jog or run. You can take your family for a picnic, kids can run around and play. Ball games and cycling is however not allowed. For citizens over 11 years old, the entrance fee is KES 65 only which is paid via M-Pesa. Cash is not accepted.
There are long trails, and pavements. You don't have to wear hiking boots as long you stick to the pavements. However if you want to go through the woods I would suggest bringing some good boots. You can also get ice cream in here for KES 50 only. If you don't want that, you can also bring your own food.

I want to start with why I gave it 3 stars. The reason behind it is because they ask a huge price difference between locals and tourists.
They also require you to throw away all the plastic bottles that you have with you. Even though you have other plastic stuff with you, they only care about bottles. The park has some wild animals.
But the main point of it would say is the picnic area. Of course, there are some really nice pathways that you can go and roam around, but not actually get lost.

One of the older malls in Nairobi. Convenient location and good assortment of stores. Parking is easy but a bit tight for larger vehicles. My Land Cruiser could not fit well.in standard parking spot. Escalators seem to always be out of commission. Management can do better here. Finding shops can be a bit difficult due to layout. The age of the mall is showing a bit. However a great.place to meet and have business meetings. Location location location!!!

I visited the mall for the first time and my experience was good just that the prices at some shops are a bit high. And I wish they add more grocery stores cuz so far it's only one.other than that I didn't really see anything bad.I visited chandarana, toyworld, miniso and Mr price home.

It was one of the most high-end shopping experiences I've ever had in Nairobi! The shops and services available make it a litteral one-stop shopping destination. There is even a kids' play area on the top floor of the parking garage accessible by the covered bridge spanning from the food court.
Got my wife an amazing Puma purse that I could never get in the States from Deichmann's. Also, all the food court restaurants had servers to make it a dine in experience. My host had never had Indian cuisine, so we ate from Cinnamon's menu and had the butter chicken and the curry fish. Awesome food, friendly service as she answered all my friends' questions (in his native tongue lol) and great prices! 👌🏾

Yaya is expensive to be at as they expect you to pay 50 for parking even if it was for a minute or two and on top of that there was water in the basement parking.
The mall doesn't have many options to choose from and is quite small. So don't ever come here unless you have to go animet for school clothes.
Aero Club accommodation in Nairobi is a great place to stay if you're interested in learning about aviation or engineering. It has a museum with outdoor seating, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There's also a restaurant and bar on site, as well as a gym.
Cannot fault this perfect stop over location. Spotlessly clean everywhere. My room was a lower priced 'Pilot' room and far far better than most upmarket hotels. Excellent and friendly service from super staff, all willing to greet and time to chat. Can't recommend this place enough and it's now TOPS on my revisit list! Bravo

Can not recommend this place enough - was here for one night after flying into the international airport (Jomo) and needing to fly out of Nairobi Wilson the next morning. It has everything you need - a wonderful breakfast and area to lounge, they cater to eating restrictions SO well.

A fantastic rustic member's club. One is greeted by very polite and welcoming guards upon arrival. There is plenty of parking though it sometimes gets full over the weekends or public holidays. To get in , a club member must sign you in as his guest at the gate and then at reception. The ambience includes beautiful wooden floors and walls. Ablution facilities are in excellent shape and very clean. Drinks and food are fairly priced and service by the staff is excellent. It's obvious that they are well trained and are long serving members of staff. One downside to this club is that it gets quite chilly in the afternoons and evenings. Additionally, on most days it is quiet and there's very little entertainment. Picking phone calls is not allowed. I enjoyed my visit to this pub and will definitely recommend it for those who have company and are interested in having engaging conversations.

I loved my experience at the documentary site. Almost everything about the Kenyan history up to date, entrance fee is very affordable, very nice staff ready to answer to all your questions, there are wash rooms inside the facility. No taking photos at the 1st floor documentary. Beautiful artifacts. I loved the Kenyan history 😍

I recently visited the Kenya National Archives Documentation Center, and I must say that my experience exceeded expectations. This place is a treasure trove of historical information and a must-visit for anyone interested in Kenya's rich heritage.
First, the staff at the center were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They guided me through the vast collection of documents, photographs, and artifacts, answering all my questions with enthusiasm and expertise. Their passion for preserving and sharing Kenya's history was evident, and their assistance made my visit even more enjoyable.
The documentation center itself is well-organized and easily accessible. The materials are neatly categorized, making it convenient to find specific documents or explore different topics. The archives are properly maintained, ensuring the preservation of these valuable records for future generations.
I was particularly impressed by the extensive range of resources available. Whether you're interested in colonial history, the struggle for independence, cultural heritage, or any other aspect of Kenya's past, the center offers a wealth of materials to delve into. I spent hours engrossed in old photographs, letters, newspapers, and government records, gaining a deeper understanding of the country's journey.
Another aspect that stood out to me was the effort put into digitizing certain documents. This allows for easier access and preservation, as well as enabling researchers and students from around the world to explore Kenya's history remotely. The center's commitment to embracing technology while preserving traditional archival methods is commendable.
The ambiance of the center was tranquil and conducive to study and research. It provided a peaceful environment where I could immerse myself in the past. The facilities were well-maintained, and the reading areas were comfortable, making it an ideal place to spend hours immersed in history.
The Kenya National Archives Documentation Center is not only a valuable resource for researchers but also an educational destination for students. The center offers guided tours and educational programs that cater to different age groups, fostering an appreciation for Kenya's history among the younger generation.
In conclusion, I highly recommend visiting the Kenya National Archives Documentation Center. It is a remarkable institution that preserves and showcases Kenya's historical legacy. The knowledgeable staff, extensive collection of documents, and well-maintained facilities create an exceptional experience for history enthusiasts and researchers alike. I am grateful for the opportunity to explore Kenya's past at this outstanding facility.

I learnt so much here about the history of not only Kenya, but also other African countries such as Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and others. Very beautiful and well equipped. For only Ksh.50/= you get to enter Archives and learn history and also photos are allowed. If you haven't visited this place, would definitely recommend that you do especially if you love learning about history.

I visited this place 2x. One was a school student and most recently as a researcher. I was doing research for a friend coming to visit Kenya. Now, I am not big on history or documentaries but the place is so epic and rich in history and ambience. Please please check the place out whenever you can. It's cheap to go, and full of nice people. No taking much pictures.

Great collection of Kenyan and African historical artifacts and documents. Needs more light however and more events to let people know that it is open. General public is encouraged to donate items from their homes that could have historical value for display and preservation.

The entrance fee is affordable and it's a good place to learn more about the history of the various cultures in Kenya and Africa, and even leaders dating back to before Kenya got her independence. The only downside is there is no guide to explain the various cultures that have been represented or even the history.

Nice mall but what arrogant and unfriendly security - mainly the person on the road overseeing the vehicles etc. I was taking pictures and he screamed at me pointing his hand at me ( see pic) in an arrogant gesture. This guy needs to be thought some manners. If pictures are not allowed, there needs to be a proper notice and he should approach me respectfully to stop taking pictures - not yell angrily. He was doing this to every passer by and yelling at Uber vehicles drivers as well for picking them in front of the mall. He thinks he owns the mall.

Plenty of activities and stores to cater to your various needs. The food court has an array of restaurants to choose from. The building is generally easy to navigate and accessible to people with disabilities. The cinema, however, is difficult to access for individuals in a wheelchair. Bowling activities add to the allure of the place though wait times can be extensive on weekends.

The few times I have been there, the music has always been great. I went there for bowling, the place attracts different types of people, all vibrant. They are highly organised, with really good service.
I had the chicken lollipop, and it was pretty bad. It was better to eat the lettuce that they were laid on. It's a fun place to go as a group, especially if you're going there for the games.
