Kraalbaai Luxury House Boats is a laid-back accommodation option located in the West Coast National Park, specifically in Langebaan, Western Cape. The property offers informal houseboats that come equipped with kitchens and barbeque facilities. With its relaxed ambiance and position within SANParks, guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area while still being just an hour's drive from Cape Town.
We spend a lovely time on the houseboat Eden, the unit was well equipped, super neat. The beds and linen were soooo comfortable. The water was 23 degrees and beautiful. Great service from the stuff and management for a last minute booking. This place is a real gem, true piece of heaven. Thank you !

Had the most amazing experience ever!!
We stayed in Eve for a whole week for my father's 50th birthday and we had the best time of our lives, not to mention how amazing the staff was, namely Talent and Bongi, they really went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible, they are honestly amazing at what they do, they were always helpful and super friendly, was a pleasure to meet them both. - you won't regret staying at Kraalbaai Lifestyle House Boats!! 10 out of 10!!! 🌊24-10-2022

Disappointing trip. Whilst the views and private beach is amazing - the actual houseboat experience was not. The novelty of it was pretty cool though. We experienced several issues, mostly around cleanliness. The floors were horrendously dirty, you can't walk bare foot inside because it will look like you trotted through a dirty mall. We had to wash all the dishes, glasses etc before use, as it was all dirty. The fridge hardly worked, it did not keep our stuff cold - the freezer portion worked perfectly. For the duration of our stay, we didn't have a hot shower (unacceptable). There was warm water in the kitchen and basin in the bathroom, but not shower. The kettle was so dirty that we actually had to ask for it to be replaced. Towels were all stained - it is really icky using stained towels that aren't yours. Door didn't close properly or lock. We could not use the braai before a proper clean, it was filthy. Just all around disappointed in the conditions - it could otherwise have been an incredible experience. Staff on site is friendly and helpful.

Stunning location and experience, especially for children. The boats themselves are a little rough and ready. We had some issues with getting the water to work, but it was out of season so I could see the team working on preparing the other boats.

As beautiful as it was, no toilets at the end where the boats are, n those ppl that live on those houseboats are polluting the ocean with their garbage, but who cares right? As long as they making money

We stayed on the Serenity for 2 nights in Jan 2023. It was a great experience being so close to the water and the beautiful surrounds of the National park. Our kids really enjoyed it as a unique experience and the staff was very helpful. Main point for improvement is that the quality of the bedding is not great and curtains were hanging off the side of the rails etc. the interior needs a little bit of attention to detail. Would recommend as a getaway with a difference.

WOW, what an experience! I wish I could live on one of these houseboats! My team booked the Nirvana houseboat for our end of year team building. They supplied everything we needed to have a good time. I'd recommend booking out SUP boards and kayaks beforehand, as they do have limited stock and you might not get them on the day if you haven't pre-booked. The team were amazing taking us and our luggage to the houseboat. Such fun!

Post review addition: I see that the owners claim all bad reviews to be invalid and choose to move blame. Be very careful of establishments like these!! I was upset yes, only because your emergency lines where not answered as promised for 12 hrs, what if someone had fallen ill? Anyhow, what was supposed to be a tranquil bucket list break-away in a SANPARK nature reserve for us, turned out to be everything but that. The boathouse we stayed in is run down and everything but a luxury stay! We struggled with running water through-out the weekend and had to self-help mechanic to get pumps going a couple of times. In addition, Nirvana, the neighboring boat, was rented out by the establishment to 18+ youngsters who partied loudly into the early hours of the morning throughout the weekend spoiling the stay for us. Complaints to management was handled very coldly. As a (fortunate) well-travelled individual, I would scrap this from my list of things to do in and around Cape Town. Luckily there are many places to choose form in and around the area that will offer you not only value for money but the tranquil rest you paid for.
To note: At no point was any staff sworn or yelled at, in fact we tipped the skipper (the only one you can clearly trust there) for the good service he offered under difficult circumstances.

The service is excellent, the location is beautiful, but the beds in the room aint the best and the hot water is a problem it comes and goes ...other that its a lovely place plus there staff are the best super friendly and will always help. Dont forget to bring everything you need cause it is far to drive just to get something that you forgot.
Located on the east coast of Langebaan Lagoon in the Western Cape province of South Africa is a town called Langebaan. It can be found 120 kilometers north of Cape Town, adjacent to R27 and approximately 28 kilometers from Vredenburg and 20 kilometers from Saldanha Bay.
Beautiful long endless fine white sand beach safe to walk
Eco Afrika — Google review
This sleepy town has become a hub of activity with tourists streaming in and out.
It had the most beautiful stretch of white sand and calm waters stretching as far as the eye can see.
Sunsets would be spectacular from the hilltop.
Holiday homes scattered throughout overtaking the natives who are situated in between the modern holiday homes.
Parking is limited because of the restaurant and all the tourists visiting, but you are bound to find a spot.
Locals sell crayfish as they walk about trying to get customers and locals with handmade beach souvenirs peddling their beautiful works.

Our family went for a quick afternoon swim on this very clean beach. The waves were not too high or intimidating for our little ones and I felt quite safe as it was our first visit to this beautiful little town! What a beautiful place Paternoster is!
Sonia du Toit — Google review
Magnificent views and sea air. But a fishing community destroyed by the selfish denial of fishing licences all reserved for the big parasite fishing companies that are funding the extravagance of South Africa’s pompous and failed politicians. The sadness of a small community deprived of its heritage and traditional industry overshadows the unique beauty of landscape.

If you are visiting the West Coast / Langebaan or Saldanha then you have to take a trip to the little fishing village of Paternoster! Amazing beaches and an authentic little fishing village where you can stay in actual old fishermens cottages! Watch the fishermen bring their catches in on the beach and relax in some of the best restaurants in the area!

Very neat and clean beach. Lots of open space. Never crowded on the beach, there is always a open spot on the beach for you to go and relax and enjoy the west coast sun. I would definitely recommend this beach if you ever up in the west coast. Also lots of lovely restaurants around the area for you to enjoy after a day at the beach. Highly recommended.

A group of friends and I had a beer tasting at Black Eagle Brewing Co. in early July, and we were impressed by the delicious craft beer they offered. The owner was also very personable and provided us with detailed information about each of the six beers we tried. Among them, Hoppy In Love and Weskus Brekvis stood out as our favorites. We are excited to return on our next trip to Langebaan.
If you want a nice taste of some local beers, Black Eagle won't disappoint. We had the tasting tray of 6 beers of which 4 were produced by Black Eagle. Unfortunately they did not have those for sale, but offered some alternative local bottled craft beers. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Be mindful of the limited timing!

Lovely spot to pop into. Nice taster tray, though we were looking for stout, the friendliness, enthusiasm and general inviting conversation made us easily choose a taster tray of beers we probably wouldn't ordinarily try. Definitely pop into Black eagle brewing for a taster and a chat.

Had an excellent visit to the brewery tap room and sampled a range of beers brewed by Black Eagle and other local craft breweries. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about their beer and the craft beer industry in the area in general.

Myself and a group of friends did the beer tasting early July, and let me tell you - their craft beer is amazing. Cool place where you can feel the vibrant forces of nature. Hike can be uneven at times but still mild to moderate. No shade; consider sunscreen or physical protection. We made it all the way up to the lighthouse with a total 8k covered but the hike can truly be as short or long as you want.

I've been coming here since 4 months old. Both my sons have been camping since they were babies. If it's peace and tranquility you're looking for, this is it. The ocean will always feed you and the community of Paternoster is warm and welcoming. Family time is fun when camping. I'm looking forward to coming here another 43 years.

Absolutely loved this place. 5 mins drive to Paternoster. We felt safe camping here for 4 nights and the natural beauty of this area is really breathtaking.
Hiking trails are few and swimming in the ocean is an invitation to experience hypothermia 😁😁 but we loved the experience. Toilets and showers are clean (hot water is solar powered and never gets boiling). No plugs so have a portable solar accessory. We spent the days playing frisbee and just loving the view. With paternoster a close drive there isn't a restaurant or coffee shop that isn't within reach. Advise driving or cycling to town though.

A tiny nature reserve, best know by its name Tietiebaai, is spectacular to visit during flower season. A walk just below the Lighthouse through a wild flower carpet is not to be missed.

A wonderful and natural place with impressive rocks. It’s a overwhelming place for photography, especially at sunrise. Highly recommend
The charming lighthouse near the Shelley Point Hotel and Spa is a notable historical monument. Despite being inaccessible, it offers picturesque views of numerous large ships anchored nearby. The beach surrounding the lighthouse was remarkably deserted during our visit on a quiet weekday, allowing for an enjoyable exploration of the rock pools exposed by low tide. Families with young children should consider visiting this location; however, it is advisable to come fully prepared as there are limited facilities available.
A paid beach entrance with no people on the beach when we were there till we got to the lighthouse and people were entering with no fee paid to get to it. Beautiful scenery with well-preserved coral. Its a quiet place where seals eat the crayfish and lay on the beach. Beachfront houses/accommodation where people go for a daily swim.
Luvellynne A Koopman — Google review
Not the most exciting place to visit but the beach is lovely and it was sort of fun for the kids. Nice to say you’ve seen it and been there. It’s a bit of a mission to get into the estate to visit the beach and lighthouse because they don’t let you in the main gate, you need to drive around to the other end on Golden Mile road to get to the far side gate where they will allow you in.
Jason Rinquest — Google review
What can I say. It is a cute lighthouse a short walk away from the Shelley Point Hotel and Spa. We visited it on a weekday and found the beach completely empty. It was a warm winters day and we were the only people on the entire beach. I can't even remember when a beach was so empty. The light house was locked and you could not go in to the light house. We could see about 6 massive ships at anchor ⚓️. It was nevertheless a great experience. It was low tide and we also explored some of the rock pools created with the low tide. If you have young kids, make sure to take them here. I am sure in summer it will be super hot. We did not see any other places on the beach, so be sure to bring everything you need. The sea had a bit of a smell, would hate to get a stronger smell in summer.

Beautiful setting. Small walk over shells and soft sand to the lighthouse. The sad part is you CANNOT walk on the deck surrounding the lighthouse to take photos as they have a motion sensor alarm that triggers at the top of the stairs.
Candice Newton — Google review
It's a wonderful little spot that's not too far to walk, but the walk is over very soft sand and there's not much of a path and certainly not usable for wheelchair users.
The lighthouse was locked when we got there so there was no opportunity to go inside, but the view is lovely - even in the mist and the birds enjoy the area as well.
Parking area get very muddy in wet weather

We had loads of fun on the beach. We did not enter the lighthouse but got some great pics. There were so many seals and birds.

This is the dreamiest spot in the world. Its something like the Hamptons but better!!
Don't be alarmed if you see a couple dead seals on the shore. There is a large colony there and from what I understand they have died natural deaths.

A bit of a mission to get to, but once there, a nice walk and interesting site. Sadly no access into the lighthouse, unfortunately.

The Stone Fish Studio and Gallery in Paternoster offers a delightful and artistic atmosphere. Located in the heart of the town, it exudes a laid-back and imaginative ambiance. For those seeking a special gift or a treat for themselves, this shop is a must-visit. Their collection includes handmade soap dishes that are not only beautiful but also crafted locally. Additionally, on Saturdays, visitors have the opportunity to participate in pottery workshops where their creations can be baked and glazed during the following week.

Our family of 5 went to do a pottery class with Di, kids ages 6 and up. None of us have any experience or gift with any form of art. Di was kind and patient and helped us get a feel for creating our own pottery. Our family chatted and joked while we created bowls. During the lesson Di made helpful suggestions and pointed us in the right direction, making even the weakest students (me) look good. A fantastic experience that added to our family holiday spirit. I didn’t choose this activity, however next time I would.

A must visit for artists and creatives. A space filled with ceramics, fine art, pottery, and prints. What's great about this art space is that every piece is affordable and very well priced.. Ranging between R60-R320 for plates, bowls, and other ceramics to R450-R5500 for larger pieces - anyone can own a textured, glaced, piece of art for their home.
Very unique and modern for home interior.
We had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly talented artist, Dianne Heesom, who is actively working on new clay pieces for exhibitions throughout the day.
Artists can buy paints, brushes, canvases, and air dry clay at the stone fish studio too.

The Langebaan Beach in Western Cape is a beautiful, family-friendly beach with soft sand and stunning ocean views. It's perfect for a quick beach stop or fun outing, and there's plenty of space to walk or launch your boat. The wind can be quite strong here, but it's great for watching the wind surfers.
What a gorgeous little beach! The sand is perfect for walking or running and the lagoon water is calm and warmer than the ocean. Sunsets are beautiful, and you get a feeling of peace and quiet here. Lots of birdlife too.

There is a lovely walk and view on the beach. The sand is firm and flat and people great in a friendly manner.
There's not much place to park and the area is pretty under-developed but despite that, it's a breakaway from the urban hustle.
Great views of the island, and area to launch your boat.

Very nice beach but not for swimming. The water is too cold for swimming and it's mostly windy. Nice if you want to do kite surfing or just watch people kite surf. The beach is long so it's also nice for long walks if the wind doesn't blow you away.

This beach is a new favorite. The calm coastal laid back nature of the town in general provided for an even greater beach experience.
This beach boasts alot of activity from boating, fishing, canoeing, wind or kite surfing , to long beach walks and shallow beach swimming. Dogs are also allowed on the beach. There are signs and reminders for everyone to treat each other with respect.
I particularly enjoyed walking at night and felt fairly safe doing so. The water was also quite warm, getting colder towards Mykonos. Toilets were at the end of the beach away from Mykonos. Very serene.

Pristine beach with flat, calm waters, which makes it suitable for kids to wade in and for SUP boarders (especially so if learning). Restaurants and shops located not even 50m away.

The date of our visit is 21/10. It's very windy here, so there are a lot of paragliders. No swimmers that I saw . No picnic blankets or umbrellas.... Too windy . Great beach for a walk. Not friendly for swimmers and very small kids. Could be seasonal, the high winds... Hence the date. There are accessible public toilets. Not super clean, but good enough in a pinch. There are several restaurants. Shops for beach and paragliding paraphernalia. It has a lovely little curated village-y feel. With some of the shops having the price to match but that's par for the course. The blue flecked water against the white sands is absolutely stunning and definitely worth seeing.

I think it could get very festive on a sunny day. Beach has plenty space and seems there is alot to do. Sea is calmer due to you being in the lagoon. Good for small children or younger kids as there is no currents. More an activity beach than a swimming beach by the looks of things.

Mosselbank Beach Retreat offers a comfortable upstairs unit with two bedrooms, each boasting its own ensuite bathroom. The layout provides privacy for guests sharing the accommodation, as the bedrooms are situated on either side of the lounge/living space. While there is limited sea view, guests still appreciate the overall experience and would choose to stay here again. However, it's worth noting that during winter months, the absence of bedside mats makes getting out of bed onto cold floors unpleasant.
From the hospitality we received from Glen to the rooms, to the views and the beach we were super happy with the few days we spent there. We will definitely be back. Beach is about 200m from the house. There is an outside braai and indoor fire place. There is a video on my TikTok profile for more reference @samonevorster

Got served old buns which was toasted (which is not normal for burger buns) could see the buns started falling apart. Kitchen staff does not have their faces covered with masks its rather under their chins and finally our table was stained which gave the impression it was not cleaned well enough. Other than that the place is well air conditioned.
Finally the management staff which was older blond lady / owner had a falling out with some customers and was so rude even after the customers left. She should keep her potty mouth in check.

Mykonos Casino offers a variety of slots and table games, along with both casual and formal dining options as well as live entertainment. The overall atmosphere is enjoyable, with friendly staff and clean facilities. While some guests have had bad luck in terms of winning money, the resort offers plenty of activities for families to keep busy.
Always a good experience and very comfortable accommodation with all amenities in close proximity if you need anything.

Casino was well signposted and allowed for free parking. Since my last visit in 2022, they have upgraded the playing slot machines. My favourite "All aboard" was not there. Overall a pleasant visit. Keep it up Club Mikonos.

Awesome vibe, restaurants, staff friendliness and clean premises. Child friendly and lots of facilities to keep children busy. Casino is not much of a winning place. You loose more than what you can win. Bad luck ☹️ Most guests complained about not winning money. But we were on vacation so yah we enjoyed the stay.

I would rate this five stars had it not been for the fact I had to join to get a players card which I already had one from a previous Tsogo casino very annoying to keep joining every time I visit one of there casinos,
But the casino itself although small perfectly suitable clean and good staff highly recommend .
The West Coast Fossil Park, situated approximately 16km outside Langebaan on Rte 45, showcases an array of ancient creatures such as the first bear found south of the Sahara, three-toed horses and short-necked giraffes. This park boasts one of the world's most abundant fossil sites with exciting tours departing hourly from 10am to 3pm (until 1pm on weekends) leading visitors to excavation areas.
The West Coast Fossil Park was a fantastic visit! We first went to the West Coast Fossil Park cafe which had wonderful food prepared by chef students. Next, we got a tour of the fossil park with one of the resident archeologists who was fantastic! She told us the history of the park, the fossils that have been found there, and the wildlife that exists in the area. Highly recommend!

The West Coast Fossil Park is a really great place to see real fossils in an archeological environment. Take the time to pop in here. It is super cheap and the tour guide is very knowledgeable. Often, we think about the negative impact of mining on the environment and off the layout of the land. Here is an example of mining finding this site, and now we can see bones as they lay in the earth for an extremely long time. It is just a short 1.5 hrs from Cape Town. They also had a restaurant that was a really good experience with good food at a really good price. The guided tour is approximately minutes long. You also have the opportunity to actually touch a bone. Many types of animals and bones. The most is of the short neck Giraffe.

Langebaan has a deep and rich dinosauric history. This venue tells the story of estuaries, Africa's now-extinct, sabertooth tigers, and many other fossilized animals.

-Every hour, the guide guides the guests to the fossil annex and gives them a detailed explanation. -It is a recommended educational site for fossils and history.
- It is thought to be a good educational place for children from G4 to adults.
-I recommend it.
-There is a restaurant, so drinks, snacks, and meals are available. The food was delicious.

Fortunate to have done both the Museum self tour and the guided tour. Very educational for adults and kids that love all things paleontology, fossils, and geographic related. I did expect that there would be a larger dig site; however there was a lot of fossils and information contained in the escavation site that we viewed.
Did not try any meals at the restaurant :-)

A must-visit art haven on the West Coast.
I had the pleasure of visiting the charming Bay Gallery, a true gem showcasing a variety of artistic mediums by talented West Coast artists. For over 25 years, Daphne Devey, the passionate owner and curator, has been expertly running this delightful space.
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the gallery's happy and light atmosphere, providing the perfect setting to appreciate the diverse collection of oil, watercolor, acrylic paintings, and more. The works on display truly capture the essence of local creativity, making it a must-see destination for art enthusiasts.
I highly recommend making an appointment to visit Bay Gallery, as it's an unforgettable experience that showcases the best of the West Coast's artistic community from established artists. Don't miss out on the opportunity to discover and even purchase a unique piece for your own collection.

Never imagined you can make that many products from honey and bee wax. Wonderful, all natural products. Go and support proudly South African businesses like SimplyBee. Next to their shop they have a little coffee shop with the most delicious carrot cake I ever had.

This store is so beautiful, it has a such a wide range of products – everything from moisturizers to wood polish, they have it all. It should be noted that there are two seperate stores next to each other, the one store is more cosmetically-focused and the other is more food and decorations-related. The pies they sold here were delicious too! I'd recommend, whenever you're in Hopefield, give this place a visit!

Simply Bee's facial products are amazing! I've been using their Facial Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer, scrub, lipbalm and Mask, and they're all top-notch. My skin feels refreshed and nourished, and the Facial Mask is like a mini spa treatment. If you want great skincare, give Simply Bee a try. You won't be disappointed!

My daughter recently gifted me 3 Simply Bee Products and each has been absolutely amazing. The Beeswax Wrap works like a charm and I no longer need to buy environmentally unfriendly one-use clingwrap. The cuticle cream has stopped my nails from splitting and the lip balm is awesome and stays on much longer than other lip balms. Definitely worth a trip to Hopefield!!

The Vasco Da Gama Monument, an iconic historical structure, stands as a symbol of the renowned Portuguese explorer's maritime achievements. This significant landmark serves to commemorate Da Gama's pivotal role in establishing trade routes between Europe and India during the Age of Discovery. The monument represents an enduring testament to the profound impact that his voyages had on global exploration and trade. Its architectural grandeur showcases intricate designs and fine craftsmanship, captivating visitors with its majestic presence.
A beautiful historic site on the beach with a cultural heritage... However neglected surrounds and vandalized public toilet facility.....Sunrise over St Helena Bay. This is the same scene that greeted Vasco Da Gama...

The place can get more publicity. The road to the site can be tarred and more detail given. Difficult to read the inscriptions. Maybe it can be secured because ablution facilities have been vandalised.
Peter Kok — Google review
Given is historical importance of this area, the upkeep really lets it down as the bathrooms are in a complete state of disrepair and there is no plaque to give tourists more information.
The road going to the monument is not tarred and degrades in the rain. So it's not ideal for smaller vehicles.
Great views over the ocean and a pleasant walk along the beach.

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history”
-George Orwell
This monument is completely disregarded by the municipality most probably due to anti-colonialist sentiment (while it makes sense that people harbour disdain; history -however dark and ugly- should always be preserved truthfully), and thus vandalism, a lack of informative signage, rubbish accumulation and all-round damage to the monument and surrounds are rife.
Shame on the Western Cape municipality for allowing this atrocity!

The upkeep and surrounding area has gone down the place is still a nice place to put your feet in the water litter in the parking area is bad

If Mr. Da Gama was to row ashore today, and he saw the sorry-sad state of this spot he would order his picaroonies right there and then to make a u-turn. No self-respecting explorer would set foot at a place like this.
Shame on you, South Africa. Shame on you.

Absolute shame how this has been vandalized. Also a shame that the town council now do nothing to get this protected. 2 years ago a good effort to establish bit of a garden again but the @#$% that pilfers a historic asset does not deserve to have a life. Ablutions were nice, now typical ruins! St Helena though is a nice town expanding rapidly. The local St Helena town council is a helpful bunch though.

Stop and have a picnic. No ablution facilities though. Beautiful scenic walk along the beach
