Caudan Waterfront is a renowned shopping complex in Mauritius, situated on the water's edge. It showcases local boutiques, restaurants, a cinema and exhibits local arts and crafts vendors. The mall also houses several clothing stores, footwear shops, herb shops, and a casino for entertainment purposes. The food court offers various cuisines with beautiful views to savor while dining. Tourist souvenirs are available at several stands within the mall vicinity.
I have known Caudan waterfront all my life, and it is one of the best place in Mauritius. Situated on the waterfront of the capital city of Port-Louis, it has several hotels, restaurants, food courts, shopping malls, a cinema, a casino, an arts centre, a bookcourt on site with ample space to sit and enjoy some Mauritian culture, especially if you make a visit at the Blue Penny Musuem.
Relaxing by the waterfront is my favorite activity, and that too after enjoying the Mauritian Phoenix beer by one of the restaurants on the patio next to the water. Caudan waterfront is a must if you are visiting the city of Port-Louis. Different vibes at different hours of the day, ranging from opening to lunch time rush, to end of a working day rush, sunset hour and a mostly peaceful place at night - the time when Port Louis actually breathes, except during festivals, the nightlife can be quite enthusiastic. I would recommend!

A lovely waterfront district with cafes, shops and things to see and do. The umbrellas are vibrant and fun. There is a great indoor Craft market where you can buy original hand made souvenirs direct from the artist. WiFi is available in some cafes and restaurants. It's an easy level stroll with ramps available for easy access to most areas.

Great place in Port Louis to hang around as rest of the city has very little to offer. Great dining options with great views of the port. Coffee shops, fine dining, fast food and pub is the highlight . The place also has shopping options and cinema hall. Very modern, uber chic' place.

Footpaths were clean.
Plenty of stalls in the market place to buy souvenirs.
Public toilets were clean but busy.
Plenty of places to eat or drink in.
Definitely worth a visit when in Port Louis.

has been the first major shopping development on the island of mauritius and still is able to keep up with the trends and retain its charm as modern waterfront mall. The complex provides wide range of shops, cafes, restaurant, movie theaters, the art market.

It is a very nice place for people to visit. They did reopen with a lot of shops, restaurants, hotel, cinema and gym! The view is so nice! It is a great place to chill and walk and to have dessert! you need to pay for the paking during the day but it is free at 5pm!

This is the largest mall or shopping area of Mauritius. There are lots of shops and food places and this place looks beautiful because it is waterfront. It's a good hangout place.

It's indeed a lovely place to take a walk around either for sight seeing or actual shopping.
Beyond that, there are other activities one can do at this mall. For those interested in history, there's a musuem, there's a cinema to watch movies with friends and family, a casino and there's a variety of shops ranging from pharmacies, to coffee, restaurant, to clothing, to groceries and many more.
My favourite spots here are the floating umbrellas and the waterfront. It gives the mall a beautiful and breathtaking view. Great for the gram.
The mall is clean, well maintained and welcoming to all and sundry.

Probably a place worth visiting if you are a tourist. Not many shopping options but you will find some souvenirs ( though they may be costly).
On the other hand, there are plenty of food options and also the view during the day is quite refreshing.

The waterfront area is known for its beautiful views of the water and the surrounding landscape. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade and take in the sights and sounds of the bustling waterfront. There are also many shops and boutiques where visitors can find unique souvenirs and gifts. Additionally, the waterfront offers a variety of dining options, from casual cafes to upscale restaurants, where visitors can enjoy a delicious meal while taking in the picturesque views. The alpine landform of Le Pouce, located near Mauritius' capital city, boasts a summit that resembles a thumb and is the third highest mountain on the island at 812m (2,664ft). The peak offers stunning views of the Moka Range, including Pieter Both with its uniquely shaped rock formation resembling a human head. Popular among hikers are Le Morne Brabant and Le Pouce peaks.
Great hike with a quite steep section in the end. Not a problem for experienced hikers. Might be slippery at times but not a major problem. Takes about 2 hours from the parking lot to go up, take some pictures and go down again. The view is amazing!

Fantastic trekking activity and magnificent view from the top. Good shoes is must have ! Regular sport ones are enough - or hiking ones. Don’t even try to go there with sandals ! Like people say here, the wet rocks are really slippery so be cautious with stepping. Dry rocks are ok. Trail is really steep so you gonna burn some calories 😀With half an hour sitting on the top it takes around 2.5-3h for not a sport guy to get there from parking lot and back.Apes seen😀Place is not crowded at all, I met only local sport guys running there. Go there- will not be disappointed!

A must visit Peak in Mauritius
A moderate trek from Port Louis and an easy trek from Moka
I prefer the Port Louis trail as it is much more beautiful and challenging
You could spot a couple of animals like monkeys, moles
There is a stream on the way which has fresh water to quench the thirst of tired hikers
The way to the top is filled with wild guava which is a treat !
On the trail from Moka you could also see a waterfall
The way to the peak is a bit tough , only slightly tough but the view from the top is just breathtaking!
The entire Port Louis could be seen from the top
Besides Moka , some parts of Curepipe can also be seen
One among the best hikes in Mauritius!
A must try!

I am an experienced mountain climber. Reviews state that this is a very easy walk, I would say it is an intermediate walk with technical areas towards the top. Beware that this is a very muddy and slippy track, I ended up covered in dirt. Overall great views at the top, but the slippy mud does let it down a little!

Climbing Le Pouce was such an awesome experience. I would describe this climb as easy/medium with the climb up the peak as more medium towards the end. Completely worth it for the amazing view. This is a must do/must check out. We were also lucky enough to see a little monkey closer to the top.

Wait until the weather is dry for a few days before going and it will be an easy hike. If you want some challenge end it in Moka and start from Port Louis side. It might look like the rain ruined the path over there but it is still doable!
If there is rain don’t climb to the absolute top as it will be very dangerous

Been here a lot of times. Really had great time..
But my recent visit was a bad experience.. We went during sunset. It was dark while we descend.. When we reached down, we saw 2 or our cars’ side windows were smashed and broken. It was a robbery. Luckily we weren’t there while those robbers came. Police helped us..
Please be careful when you are there, especially when it’s dark..

Best place for hiking but not the easy one. Track is getting harder and harder so prepare yourself properly. Track can be muddy and small stones can put you in a situation so put the best grip shoes and have a hiking stick as well it can help. Just near the top its very hard and you do need help don’t be shy people are very generous they help. Be careful with monkeys as well sometime they do come near you to for food but please don’t feed them they can be aggressive to snatch the food from you. While raining that place can be covered thick clouds again take a precaution.

If you have a car, it is good idea to start from Saint Piere. There is a little parking at the begining of the trail so its better to be there in the early morning. Trail is nice, also I don't think is as difficult as people are saying. There is beautiful view at the top.

Situated in the capital of Port Louis, Central Market offers a diverse range of products including fruits, vegetables, souvenirs, Chinese herbal medicines and aphrodisiacs. The market is a bustling hub where one can spend hours exploring various sights such as Aapravasi Ghat - a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once used as a transit point for slaves before being transported to different parts of British Empire.
An explosion of colors, smells and geometries! Taste the dragon fruit -you can buy and have it ready to eat. Definitely recommended but mind the prices…it’s relatively costly if you don’t pay attention.
Cri Bar — Google review
There section for vegetables was the only reason I gave it 3 stars. but once you enter there is tourist souvenir section and the low key harassment begins. It can get really uncomfortable because we didn’t go for that but rather to just look around and have an “authentic” Mauritian experience but I guess not. Personally it was ok for a day trip but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it. Not worth it in my opinion unless you want to buy cheap souvenirs at massively inflated prices.
Made You Look — Google review
Very busy location, attracting locals for the various food stalls and spice stalls. Then there is the tourist trinket stalls that attracts the tourists. Worth a visit for the experience and the continual selling pull from the traders and the bartering. Don't believe it is genuine Mauritian made goods especially the regularity of Christian Dior goods, think about where these fakes are made and the labour and the environments they are made in.
Darth Rum69 — Google review
Buildings are old and streets are dirty. Looks like people here don’t care about their surroundings at all whatsoever. Probably India must look like this. Otherwise people are extremely friendly and no crime at all. So it’s a mix of good and less good.

The pushy vendors might not be so annoying if they weren't selling the same poorly made, overpriced garbage. Stick to the fruits and vegetables downstairs — upstairs is trash.

We only had about 40 minutes on an organised trip but this place is worth a visit. The top floor is very touristy and I'd avoid it. But the ground floor, with all the fruit & vegetables, is wonderful to walk around.
I'd like to have had the time to explore some of the nearby streets.

It's definitely something to experience when you visit Mauritius.
The market has everything from clothes, spices, fruits, veggies and traditional Mauritian dishes to choose from.
Don't expect the market to be super clean. Unfortunately it is just a market which can be quite smelly due to all the meat and fish.
It's also quite busy and the people could be overwhelming as they are quite eager to sell.
Take cash as there are no card facilities.
Enjoy your stroll through the market and end off your trip with a lovely meal at the waterfront.

Alouda Pillay as a cold sweet beverage along with Dholl Puri and Roti are the most popular snacks. Check out Pani Puri as well, spicy sauce available to water your mouth, a cold lemon juice to refresh you from the heat of the Capital City. I really don’t know why people having trouble here very easy to barter. Here you MUST. They WILL Give you some crazy price or even have a price tag….disregard all that. Whatever they say cut it at least in half. Unless you just that dumb to pay the asking price. Hahaha ball cap 250r, magic box (small) 300r, incense (sandalwood) a case 300r vanilla bean grade A 8 sticks 300r, misc small trinkets less than 2USD. take your time look around get a feel for it. But NEVER pay the asking price. These guys are pros. Set your price walk away they will come after you with a counter offer. STAND your ground. If they want they will sell it to you. I personally spend less than $50 on a whole bunch of things. It’s a big tourist trap place but they have a lot of things to get as a memory of this beautiful island nation.

Most stalls sell the same curios that are clearly mass produced. The vendors are quite pushy and expect you to bargain. Be careful of engaging. The fruit and veggie section is a feast of smells and colours and feels more authentic.

Might be a tourist trap if you don’t know prices. Good for some small souvenirs but don’t forget to bargain. Usually, first price is almost double.
Also, the smell and the dirt might drive you away fast.

Hi we arrived about 6 am to avoid Port Louis traffic so everything wasn’t open.
It appears to be a very good fruit and veg market at that time of day. Perhaps other parts open up later but we were expecting meat products as well so a little disappointing. The market is old and was enjoyable to walk round. The vendors are very friendly and helpful, remember to take smaller money than a 500 rupee note I forgot and it was changed but it may have messed up her cash float for the day. When we left to drive back to Balaclava we were very happy we had chosen to arrive early as
the traffic heading in had built up. This was a Monday and had I been stuck in traffic on the way in trying to find a park I would have really really been disappointed.

We visited the market as part of a guided tour with the "taste buddies" very inspiring, if you are looking for fresh food. Never tasted such tasty pineapples. The sugar cane juice was very sweet but great. Maybe with some rum, a great longdrink :-) but not at noon and not at 30 degrees and 150% humidity. Try the ayurveda tea shop next to the sugar cane juice guy and have a chat with him.

Crowded being old and common man's shopping centre for vegetables and fruits mainly. Not busy at odd hours. We got a good deal on shorts at a nearby shop at the junction.
The Aapravasi Ghat in Port Louis is a former immigration depot for paid Indian laborers brought by the British Empire after slavery was abolished. It has now been converted into an interpretation center and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The arrival of these laborers shaped the culture of Mauritius, with over 65% of its current population linked to their ancestry.
Visited on 10 May 2022. A must see when you are in Mauritius. Best of all, there is no charge to visit the museum. An informative site featuring the history of indentured labor of many years ago. Make sure to visit this World Heritage Site.

This military stronghold from the 1800s showcases a walled courtyard and vistas of the city. Peruse local handicraft stalls for mementos and savor aromatic street fare before visiting La Citadelle, located at Fort Adelaide, offering sweeping views. Aapravasi Ghat is another attraction worth seeing; as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it served as an immigrant depot where bonded laborers were housed prior to being sent to British Empire plantations.
It’s perfecto for beautiful views overlooking the Mauritian capital city Port Louis. I enjoyed walking up the stairs and exploring the fort. It is a quick visit for those looking to know more about the history of the British and their slavery regime practiced here at the fort. Other than that there isn’t much to do here.

Fort Adelaide is the perfect spot to get the best views of Port Louis with 360 degree views. It is not that impressive to look at in itself but still an interesting part of the history of Port Louis. It would be nice if there could be an inside space with a bit of the history explained. You can basically just walk around and take pictures.
There is no entrance fee to pay. I drove right up to the fort and parked literally at the entrance. If you are going to walk up to the fort be prepared for a steep hill. There are public toilets inside. I recommend the best times to visit would be early morning or later in the afternoon. It is quite warm and sunny with not much shaded areas. For the best pictures a morning visit would be ideal. I spent about 30 minutes there, which I think is more than enough time for a visit.

The Citadel Fort Mauritius stands as a testament to the island's rich history and strategic significance. Perched atop the Port Louis skyline, its imposing walls echo tales of resilience and valor. Constructed in the 19th century by the British, the fort served as a formidable defense against potential invaders, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship and architectural prowess. Today, it not only preserves Mauritius' heritage but also offers visitors a glimpse into the island's past through its well-preserved ramparts and commanding views of the surrounding landscape. As a symbol of strength and endurance, the Citadel Fort Mauritius embodies the spirit of excellence in historical preservation and cultural significance.

Worth the visit! Free entrance and amazing views of Port Louis from two sides. The old colonial city is on one side, with its grand buildings and narrow streets. The modern city is on the other side, with its skyscrapers and shopping malls. Bonus points for the art gallery, which is beautifully embedded in the Citadelle chambers, and is currently showcasing artists from Mauritius and other nearby territories.

While not particularly impressive, this spot offers a great vantage point for capturing picturesque images of Port Louis. It's an old fort with historical significance, once used to defend against enemies and later as a prison for slaves. The view from the top at all four corners is lovely, and you won't need more than 30 minutes to explore this site.

From the Citadelle, you get the best view of Port Louis 👌. This is an old fortress at the top of a hill. From this Fort, you look down at the entire region from the hills to the west to the dockyard to the east. You also can see the third oldest horse track in the world from here. At the very top of the Fort, you have an outdoor gym with a few pieces of equipment for those who use the hills as get fit routines. The Citadelle was closed and I don't think its possible to see inside it.

The Citadel of Port Louis is better known as Fort Adelaide. It is a fortification that was built from 1834 to 1840 on a hill facing the harbor. The ease with which the British captured the island of Mauritius in 1810 led the invaders to strengthen the island's defenses. The British rapidly built several forts, including Fort George, Fort Adelaide, Fort William and Fort Victoria. Only Fort Adelaide remains today.
The Fort was originally built as a means to fortify the defense of Port Louis but was never used for that reason. It is now known as a famous spot for impressive views of the Capital. The Fort itself is an impressive sight. With the wall made of huge cut stones of basalt rocks, the Fort still holds some remnants from the past such as cannons.
However, it’s now famous for the 360-degree view of the Capital offering a breathtaking view of the Capital from all the angles! Such as the China Town, Champ de Mars, and mountains all at one place.
Champ de Mars is a historic racecourse and popular tourist destination located in the southern hemisphere. Founded in 1812, it is renowned for its horse racing events and is the oldest racecourse in this region. Visitors can enjoy watching races or exploring the area by walking around the track early morning before crowds arrive. The stables are not open to the public, but there are football fields available for use by teenagers and elders.
Epic and such a special place for me. I visited the place watching racing while growing up, worked selling biryani and enjoyed horse racing with family and friends there. Oldest racecourse in the southern hemisphere founded in 1812 🥰

Quite an interesting and unusual place. Not exactly what you expect to see. Today we were there and got to the race, these are indescribable emotions, you just need to see it to understand. You can also bet on horses if you wish. The races take place on Saturdays and start at 12:45 local time. But you should arrive 1 hour or 30 minutes in advance to take a seat. The races themselves (as of October 2023) are shown on television. Some of the racetrack looks like a poor area where poor people live, with a lot of different ditches. In part, the territory looks neglected, but considering that this is Africa, everything looks very civilized. There are many contrasts in this place. The place is a must visit, especially on race day. Many indescribable emotions

Must have been a beautiful place when it was properly managed. It's the largest green space of the capital city, but very few enjoy its expanse, which is sad. Beacuse it has a very well maintained race track (of course) and joggers use it quite well. But the parking lots and closed down green areas are a real let down: this should have a been a lush, vibrant garden with permanent places to sit and enjoy the stunning panoramic views on the surrounding mountain ranges. The Blue Penny Museum in Mauritius is a fascinating museum that delves into the island's rich cultural heritage. Although it is primarily dedicated to showcasing the iconic Mauritian one-penny and two-pence stamps from 1847, the museum also covers various aspects of exploration, settlement, and colonialism on the island.
Very beautiful location with a lot of history showcased. Lots of art and history about Mauritius 🇲🇺 Definitely learnt a lot about Mauritius and it’s history. The arts works are very impress and you will really appreciate it if you are into art 🖼️ There’s also postage stamps on display with loads of information about the Mauritius postal system. Lots of fantastic sculptures to admire as well. You aren’t allowed to take photos so please be aware of this. It’s open from Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays/public holidays. Try to plan your visit for the early part of the day. Entrance is about Rs245 as a tourist.

Super happy to see the stamps that were a synonymous with the rarest things. I didn't know what I was doing, but was having a blast as a young kid collecting hundreds of stamps.
Also, great to learn more about Mauritian history.
Foreigners pay almost 6x Mauritian prices

Small museum telling the history of Mauritius. The famous original first stamps are there. The museum lacks exhibits and interactive exhibitions - there are mostly walls of text.

A very interesting cultural stop and worth the visit. On display are old, rare colonial stamps for philatelist enthusiasts. More interestingly though, there is a fascinating display of ancient maps over the centuries and a globe showing the progression of geographical knowledge of Mauritius and Africa from different seafaring empires.
On display are historical pictures drawn of different parts of Port Louis and Mauritius adjacent to modern day photographs. Also on display through different art forms is the love story between the French literary characters Paul and Virginie based in part in Mauritius.

The Blue Penny Museum is a small but impressive museum located in the capital city of Port Louis, Mauritius. The museum is dedicated to the history and culture of Mauritius, with a particular focus on the island's colonial past and its relationship with the sea.
The museum is named after the famous Blue Penny stamp, one of the rarest and most valuable stamps in the world, which is housed in the museum's collection. The museum's collection also includes a range of other artifacts, such as old maps, documents, and photographs that provide a glimpse into Mauritius' past.
One of the museum's highlights is its collection of art and paintings, which includes works by local artists as well as international artists who were inspired by Mauritius. The museum's collection includes paintings, sculptures, and other works of art that depict the island's landscape, culture, and people.
The Blue Penny Museum is also a great place to learn about the island's maritime history and its relationship with the sea. The museum has a range of exhibits that showcase the island's maritime traditions, including models of old ships, maps, and navigational tools.
Visitors can also enjoy interactive exhibits and multimedia displays that provide a more immersive and engaging experience. There is a small gift shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs, including postcards, stamps, and books.
Overall, the Blue Penny Museum is a great place to learn about Mauritius' rich history and culture. It's a small museum, but it's packed with fascinating exhibits and artifacts that provide a unique insight into the island's past and present. It's a must-visit destination for anyone interested in art, history, or culture.

A well laid-out museum with old maps, navigational instruments, drawings and photos - in addition of the 1d and 2d stamps. The stamps and maps are on the first floor. The entrance fee of 325 MUR (May 2024) was good value. The museum is an easy 12-15 minute stroll from the Christian Decotter Cruise Terminal, via Odysseo.

Review: Visit one of the last stamps of the Blue penny and seed penny. What makes it so special? The misprint in 1847 includes Post Office on the stamps and was soon changed to Post Paid. For conservation, the originals are illuminated only temporarily. So make sure to inquire about the time, when the stamps are illuminated.
Parking: non-free parking slot of the waterfront shopping mall

Great museum to visit even if you are not a stamps guy. Beside the world famous blue and red Mauritius stamp you can visit a nice exhibition on the history of Mauritius.
Keep in mind, that the blue Mauritius stamp is only visible for 5 minutes per hour because of conservative reasons. At our visit it was from xx:20 pm to xx:25 pm

Robert Dzialak — Google review
In my view, it is unfortunate that the museum is called Blue Penny after the rare stamps. I'm not really interested in stamps or postal history. I'm glad I went anyway because the museum provides very interesting and nicely curated information about the discovery and conquest of Mauritius. Sure, slavery is conveniently side-passed as an important aspect of Mauritius' history but what is presented is presented well, with nicely done displays. Visit the slavery museum for a complementary viewpoint.
Wolfgang Stuppert — Google review
A well curated selection of historical artifacts telling the story of Mauritius. Exhibitions change over time so even if you've been before there may be something new each time. The presentation is top rated.
Aidan Ashby — Google review
In the past, entry was usually free. Now it is free only for temporary exhibitions. The one that we saw was on ''Bredes Mauriciens". That is edible greens. It would take someone who is really passionate about cooking and greens to spend an hour peering at dried leaves and shriveled chayoute/ christophene fruits. Old books opened at recipe pages and a desultory display is not going to kindle any interest in the visitors. Videos showing the preparation of different 'brèdes' dishes and a staff member talking to the visitors about the subject could perhaps garner some enthusiasm. The very fact that there were only two of us viewing the display bears ample testimony to this lackadaisical exposition.
The Sockalingum Meenatchee Ammen Kovil is a vibrant Hindu temple located near Port Louis, Mauritius. It boasts of excellent craftsmanship and design, along with picturesque surroundings. Though not very large in size, it holds great religious significance for Mauritian Tamils and is rich in history. Located next to the Jardin de la Compagnie, the Natural History Museum in Mauritius is a hidden gem that showcases the history and wildlife of the island. The museum features an impressive collection of exhibits, including a reconstituted skeleton of the famous extinct Dodo bird, as well as various bones from Mauritius and around the world. Visitors can explore displays of birds, fish, shells, insects, and learn all about the unique Dodo bird in The Dodo Gallery.
This is a fabulous and seriously underrated gem of a museum. And it's free! Yes, it's small (as noted by the guide books) but packed full of amazing birds, fish, shells, insects, and of course, The Dodo Gallery. Everything you could ever want to know about this quirky, extinct bird and the only complete unique skeleton of it in the world. Would highly recommend for a 30 - 45 minute viewing if you are visiting Port Louis, or Mauritius in general.

An ok place to visit that needs some updating and modernisation to keep visitors engaged.
Other government sanctioned museums are in better conditions than this place, so it would be great if they are able to update here as well.
The one interesting area was a section dedicated to the dodo where you can find a near-full skeleton of the dodo whilst also providing some insight into the history of the dodo and research into finding remains.
Overall, this is a relatively short visit with the dodo skeleton as its highlight.

Don't miss this iconic museum of Mauritius to see one of the last rare Dodo skeletons and learn about extincted national bird. To tribute the bird, there is a own hall with a variety of display pieces.
Further more you learn about the not-extincted animals in the sea, on the land and on the sky.
Sometimes the presentation is a little bit old fashioned but mad with passion for detail
The entry is free of charge.

The Jummah Mosque is an exquisite example of Moorish and Mughal architectural styles. Its interior houses the tomb of Jamal Shah, while its exterior boasts a unique blend of Indian, Creole, and Islamic design elements. Visitors to Port Louis can also explore several other attractions in the area, including Aapravasi Ghat (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Central Market, Blue Penny Museum, and Chinatown.
One of the most serene and peaceful place in Mauritius. If you're mentally tired, stressed and looking for peace of mind, that's the place to be. Make sure you're dressed conviniently, as it's a place of worship. Entrance is free, take a seat, let your mind and heart feel the intensity of comfort and rest that this beautiful place gives to the visitors and worshippers.

I give only 3⭐️ because of cool serene atmosphere even during hot summer of Port Louis and the beauty of the ancient infrastructure.
However the mausoleum of a Saint as narrated by many is not in a correct place facing almost the Qiblah. I wonder what was the intention and the need to bury a Saint in front of a mosque this does not sound correct and logical as prayer is for Allah alone. We do not pray in front of a buried Saint. It seems that it is a sufi thing to do and completely normal for them.
Furthermore the management of the establishment need to include more brilliant people outside of the memon society in their board and treat people of different origins equally with respect and stop imposing their ancestor's Gujurati culture and urdu speaking as these are not islamically related and only serve as to boost their already inflated ego.
They need more openmindedness and bring preachers and hafiz from Arabic or African countries specially during Ramadan for Taraweeh.

The Mosque and infrastructure are amazing. The control over the people who come in and go out is great, ever since covid came around.
It is a rather comforting place to be.
The people who voluntarily keep the place in a good condition are to be rewarded by God, Ameen.
The wudhu khana and open library are phenomenal.
However, the toilets could be improved on just a little bit. Fortunately, there are various choices of toilets available but their maintenance could be improved.
Also, the people working around the mosque could learn some good manners as bad manners are unbefitting of Muslim societies.
Overall 3/5 stars.

Note if you are a WOMAN looking to pray the Friday prayer in congregation, you WILL NOT be able to do so. You cannot hear the sermon or the prayer from the ladies' prayer room even though there is a screen and loud speakers!
Asked the mosque (Hanafi) and they said it is to encourage women to pray at home!
Writing this as many tourists were waiting for the sermon and for prayers to start. Downstairs men were already praying.
Note that the Friday prayers are however livestreamed on Facebook, but just not in the ladies' prayer room.

Hundreds of locals and tourists daily visit the Marie Reine de la Paix church to pray and enjoy the beautiful greenery around. The premises of the church are an ideal place from which to enjoy the view of Port Louis. You have to climb seven terraces and 82 rock-cut steps in order to reach the monument.
Each of the terraces has beautiful patches of flowers of a variety of colours. The garden surrounding the church is one of the best maintained in Mauritius. You can enjoy a day here with your family, have picnics with friends, or relax while overlooking the city and the sea. Tourists visit the place to have a glimpse of the picturesque serene environment.
The garden is usually very well maintained with patches of colorful flowers throughout the terraces.
For the little history lesson: The constructions started in May 1940 and was inaugurated in August of the following year. The 3m white marble statue represents Mary holding a world globe
When mass is celebrated here, it usually attracts a fair amount of people from lots of different places.
The place is closely associated with important moments of the Catholic Church.
At night, you will experience Port-Louis all lights on which is quite beautiful too, although I would still be careful not to go there alone in the evenings though.

Nice park in the city center. On the plus side, it is located close to many interesting locations. Great for a temporary break. A cool wind blows in the park and because of the shade of the trees you can hide from the sun and sit on a bench. Lots of noise from bats even during the day. Opposite the museum there are many places with street food, quite cheap and tasty, prices vary, but mostly 17-19 rupees per flatbread. Despite all of the above, there are quite a few homeless-looking people in the park, and some dogs that don’t seem aggressive. In general, the location is excellent for a temporary respite, due to the fact that it is hidden from the sun.

Historical garden in the centre of the capital. It's a nice place to relax after a hot day. Restroom is available. Nearby foodcourts with various restaurants. On the other side, another historical building, the museum.
