Galley Bay Beach is a beautiful and well-maintained beach in Antigua that boasts excellent snorkelling opportunities on the reefs located at either end of the beach. Giorgio Armanis house adds to its point of interest. Although it's adjacent to a resort, visitors can still access the spotlessly clean sandy areas through an unlocked gate in the fence along the bypass road. The beach also offers a stunning sunset view, but may get crowded due to its proximity to the resort.
This is a great beach. They have tried to make it look private but almost All beaches in Antigua are public. Enter via the unlocked gate in the fence and walk a short gravel path to a pristine beach. Great for swimming, snorkelling etc.
Snorkelling is good at both ends but the right hand side (as you face out to sea ) is best.
For snorkelling be aware that the jet skis that come out of Deep Bay come illegally close to snorkellers on occasion (within 15m) as most of the riders are first timers, so a surface marker buoy is a useful safety precaution.
There are occasional Moon Jellyfish which are pretty harmless and easy to avoid. Would be no worse than a stinging nettle even if you did brush up against the underside of the bell.

As others have said, the resort have done their best to make the beach look private but enter through the unlocked gate in the fence and enjoy a spotlessly clean and beautiful beach. There is some of the best snorkelling in Antigua on the reefs at either end of the beach and plenty of sandy areas in the middle to swim. A point of interest is Giorgio Armani’s house at the north end.

Absolutely stunning beach! Very quiet, not too many people there. Great for snorkelling or swimming or just for a stroll on the beach! Very sandy, there are quite a few big rocks too, but mostly sand, sea and sun! The water looks beautiful and it’s quite warm! Amazing place to watch the sunset too!

Take the road that bypasses the resort to get there and park on the side of the road. Enter through a gate (see photo) and you will find yourself walking through parts of the resort to get to the beachfront. The beach had a nice sunset view, but I can see it getting crowded since it is right by the resort.
Cindy W — Google review
Very quiet secluded beach with crystal clear water despite the sea being quite choppy due to the constant wind blowing from East. Many seashells and broken corals on the beach so that children can go treasure hunting and keep busy for a few hours.
Very recommended to those who don’t like the crowd at Dickenson Bay.
Sara Gallini — Google review
A bit of a hidden gem. If you’re not staying at the resort then access is through a gate on the far right of the resort just on the uphill bend. Beautiful beach with a good snorkelling reef right off the beach

Galley Bay beach is a great beach. A little bit difficult to get to on foot but easy on a Kayak. Lots of wild goats on the trail over the rocks at the far end of the beach!

Went here to snorkel and was not disappointed! Loved it! Nice snorkeling right off the beach (which you can access through an unlocked gate on the right end as you're facing the ocean)

The experience at Galley Bay, the amazing staff and exceptional food was amazing!!!!!!
Fort Barrington is an ancient fort located atop a hill, accessible via a hiking trail. The ruins of this centuries-old structure offer excellent views of the bay, Deep Bay and vast sea. Climbing up to the fort requires a brief but steep hike. Visitors can explore the partly overgrown remains of Fort Barrington and enjoy breathtaking vistas from its elevated position. To know more about Fort Barrington, contact St John's at 1-268-481-5027.
The Heritage Quay Complex is a lively hub that offers a walkway for pedestrians, along with local cuisine and souvenirs as well as fashion and jewelry stores. This bustling locale is the ideal place to shop duty-free and high-end items on Antigua. The shopping complex has an abundance of shops featuring luxury goods such as Rolex watches, diamond jewelry, cigars, liquor, designer clothes, cosmetics and electronics. Visitors can also witness local performers playing steel pan music throughout the center.
recently visited this Quay Complex and was thoroughly impressed with its beauty and safety measures. The architectural design is stunning, providing picturesque views of the waterfront and some colourful buildings. The entire complex is well-maintained and clean, with attentive security personnel ensuring a safe environment for visitors. I highly recommend this quay complex for a delightful and secure experience. Closes early by 5pm however, something to take note of.

A variety of shops and businesses that focus on the tourist industry. Duty-free shopping and souvenirs. The duty-free alcohol is a great deal for int'l travelers. There are several jewelry stores, like Colombian Emeralds, with attentive staff. The restaurants are really nice in the area. Definitely go to Cutie's on Redcliffe Quay two blocks away.

St John's Capital of Antigua. Ok, gives a flavour of a typical town in Caribbean . Good for souvenir shopping, heritage quay quite attractive but very limited facilities other than shopping and a few eateries. Can see everything within an hour, take in on a tour but would not recommend purely for the Capital itself.

This is probably one of my favorite Ports to visits. There is lots of things to do. A lot of stores to choose from, they have Casinos to play/gamble at, restaurants and bar to eat and drink. There are lots of activities all around the area as well.

Hard to find Island tours that are not all of the same thing. Spoke with a local for a private drive around island. $60 USD, great tour. This review is of the Quay.

In the past, I wouldn't bother getting off the ship in St. John's. But, thev worked hard and improved the cruiseport area. So now it's worth a stroll. In town, not so much.

Overpriced! Tourist trap for cruise ship passengers.
My mum loved to buy fridge magnets, inside for the same 3, almost triple the price as outside with a local vendor.

Right next to the cruise ships . Plenty of souvenir shops as there are at all the stops. Nice bars for a cool drink when chilling out after clothes and shirt spotting.

Cruise ship docked here. Easy on and off. Not a long walk to tour buses...less than 5 minutes.

A nice (and I think new... at least to me, I haven't been to Antigua in a number of years) shopping area right at the docks for cruisers to spend an hour or a day!
Lots of chain and smaller independent shops to peruse. Very nicely wheelchair accessible in most areas. Easy access back to the ship with walk thru or wheelchair access to show ship cards.
The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, established in 1985 and situated in the former St. Johns Courthouse, offers a comprehensive view of the history and cultural heritage of Antigua & Barbuda from its formation to present day. Designed by renowned architect Peter Harrison, the museum is located in the country's capital city and occupies the oldest building still utilized there. Through interactive exhibits, visitors can learn about topics like geology, politics, and national independence that shaped this island nation over time.
What an informative and outstanding display of the history of Antigua and Barbuda. Interactive as well. And I love that every time we've visited, we meet incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff members. This is a must visit on your Antigua trip.

Quite small ,but with lots of interesting items, it can get crowded as the school children were on a trip ,didn't impact on our visit as they were so polite. It was 3 euros to enter, and we could use the wifi. Wish we had more time there. There was a lot about Christopher Columbus, a small gift shop in the corner that offers small trinkets. The museum is well worth a visit.
We will return on our next trip.

This museum is small but well worth a visit if you're in Barbados. It provides an overall history of the Island from its creation up through its transition away from slavery. For train Buffs they have the last remaining armored World War 1 Train around the side of the building.

A wide range of artifacts. Lots of interesting documentation of lore and cultural heritage. You could spend hours here getting informed. The staff can help you find what you are looking for. There is a lot to explore here. If you are just poking around for tidbits you will find this museum fascinating. I saw one adult and a child browsing quite thoroughly.

No visit to a new country would be complete without visiting their historical sites and museums. I enjoyed learning about the history of Antigua and Barbuda. The information is well presented and compelling. I travelled here solo, but I would recommend this for a family outing as well.

Very little effort put into making this museum worth a visit. Staff not very helpful. Exhibits could be displayed and presented in a much more professional manner. Given you pay to enter I'm not convinced the money is used for the upkeep. I wouldn't recommend a visit.

Nice, albeit small museum about the island's history. Admission is $3USD or 8ECD. Per person. Recommend paying in ECD to save some money. You can hire a tour guide for added fee.

I loved seeing the culture and history of another county, honestly they don't have alot of history and pirates didnt come to this part of the Caribbean but they had a big English and slave trade part of it. Come to the best museum on the island

Reminds one of a small county museum. Pay a small entrance fee but was well worth it. We spent about 1 hour viewing and reading the exhibits. Very interesting and gives you the history of the island.
Fort James is a historical site from the 18th century that lies on the waterfront, featuring various cannons and a breathtaking vista of the surroundings. The fort's ruins are still present, documenting its past significance as a defensive stronghold for British settlers. This landmark offers visitors an opportunity to experience history by strolling around its scenic pathways and appreciating the panoramic views it provides.
Plenty of free parking. No entry fees. Wished there was info of its history. We just walked around took pics.
Important info: there is a cat living there. If possible take some cat food and water.
We didnt know. So we fed the cat some cake we had and gave water.

Fort James in Antigua is a remarkable historical site, offering a blend of scenic beauty and rich heritage. The well-maintained fortress provides panoramic views of the coastline and St. John's Harbor. Visitors can explore the cannons, barracks, and other remnants of the colonial era, immersing themselves in the island's history. A visit to Fort James is a rewarding experience for history lovers and those seeking stunning vistas in Antigua.

There are other more famous historical sites in the island.
Fort James was an interesting place to find. Out sat nav didn't know the roads so we had to follow our instincts.
Beach was popular on a Sunday.
Fort and cannons are free to explore. Views are stunning out over the water and bay.
Mark Burgess — Google review
The view from Fort James was beautiful. And was neat to see the canons. Though it's a shame that there is so much trash inside the buildings and that there's no effort to preserve them. If in the area it's great for quick stop and beautiful view. I wouldn't recommend taking a walk down to the house on the property. Aside from trash, there are the "leftovers" from drug use all over the ground. Don't walk the area without shoes, and don't allow children to run around either. It's a shame there's so much trash, and this place isn't better preserved. The view is beautiful.
Dana Hyde — Google review
Nice views. Some impressive canons. But there is no information regarding the history of the fort to hand which makes it somewhat disappointing. However, there is a nice bar nearby which helped.
R — Google review
The area has great views and old canons to look at but the fort itself is a mess. It’s not very well preserved and there’s trash everywhere. It’s a shame but outside of that I enjoyed walking around.
Lacey M — Google review
As all the forts we visited in Antigua, it looks missing love. You can find cannons and the structure but is missing sings indicating a little bit of historical facts.
Yeudiel Saez — Google review
Clearly, there is a lot of history here, but no effort has been made to preserve or explain its historical significance. Some simple information boards would help the public to enjoy and appreciate the Fort.
Dom Young — Google review
Looks renovated once upon a time, but not as of may 2024. Good view and cool ruins. Lots of boards, nails, and rebar sticking out
Joseph Elicson — Google review
Highly impressed with the ability to explore this fort. Seems many become a tourist trap and you can only see the remenants from afar. The cannons seem to be in excellent shape, many walls & some buildings are still intact. Might want to use caution if you walk in.
The Visitors Bureau or a Historical society should step up & install some interpretive signs/map so tourists like me know what we are looking at!
Beach was also fantastic.
Nate V — Google review
Nice cannons. Not busy. Intriguing in its mainly ruined condition. Worth a quick stop if you are nearby. Free, no ticket required.
GT Hodge — Google review
Historical fort that is worth visiting for good views of the harbour and the city. There is free parking nearby. However, I didn’t notice any plaques to provide background context to the fort. Also, note that the roads leading to the beach and the fort were in poor condition and had many potholes at the time of my visit in November 2023.
Andrew Yin — Google review
Super cool fort that has not been fixed up a lot. There are some buildings that you should not go in as the floors may collapse. But way cooler than a fully rebuilt Fort
Jeff Detmold — Google review
Neat fort but it requires some maintenance for sure. The views, ruins, and canons are great, but there is no signage or information on its History. It is a great place to visit and then take a dive in the water at the beach next to it.
Joost Morsink — Google review
The place is beautiful. The fort is abandoned and free to enter. The views and the atmosphere are great. Lots of greenery, the unreal colors of water. It could be a wonderful tourist attraction if it was looked after a bit more.
Redcliffe Quay, situated by the waterfront just south of Heritage Quay in St. John's, is a charmingly restored shopping district that offers a mix of high-end stores catering to tourists arriving on cruise ships as well as more traditional tourist shops. In addition to the shopping options, visitors can find an assortment of local vegetable stands and jewelry stores for a truly eclectic mix.
Lots of quirky and touristy stuff!
I enjoyed a walk around the cruise port when the shipped was docked. There are a plethora of stall with everything from clothes to food to tourist trinkets.
The shops were busy but not crowded and the vendors seemed friendly.

This was a nice area to walk around and look in shops. There were lots of cute souvenirs to choose from at good prices. There were also lots of fun photo ops including the British phone booths. Parking was available, but in paid parking lots. I don't recall how much parking was, but I don't remember it being a very high price. This is a fun area to spend a few hours.

Typical mix of high end stores for the cruise ship crowd and walk a little further for the tacky tourist shops and a few more blocks to the real Antigua. A real eclectic mix of local vegetable stands and jewelry stores.

Great shopping area in the heart of town. Many unique stores, check out the ice cream shop here with great ice cream.

Nice area to walk around with shops and restaurants. However, there seems to be an increase in the number of vagrants who are very persistent. Even encountered one openly drinking who became agitated and aggressive, bordering on violent.
Matt T — Google review
Needs some funding from companies who own cruise liners. These vast ships totally overwhelm this small area of St John's off loading tourists by the thousand. Two shops selling diamonds( as you do), I guess there are loads of diamond mines on the small Island of Antigua , a couple of sleazy drink venues and clothes shops probably imports. How does this tourism benefit the people of Antigua? Sad.

Not too bad to find some gifts and baseball caps etc. It is very frustrating to walk through as the sales people can be very pushy and don't give you time to properly look without getting in your face, normally with the line "The more you smile the less you pay"

I love this place. Lots of choices for eating. I always choose Cuties re restaurant. The food is just damn finger licking, makes your mouth water for more. Cocktails are made with love I say because they don't lack anything. The foods are really reasonable prices. Honestly I think it should be even more expensive when you see the presentation plus your taste buds will be screaming with pleasure. There is no A.c because it's not hot. This beach was so amazing, my class went here on a school trip one time and it was so abnormal, there was this sailor moon like rabbit and a black and white bear that looks like a stuffed animal. Most of my friends died sadly but it’s alright I’m alive. But overall it’s a 16/10

went on a class trip here, there was a two toned bear and after he appeared my classmates kept dying in succession
anyway each person gets their own cottage here which is cool, and the food was good (at least before the cook died almost immediately) and there was a white haired guy who tried to drown me in the ocean one night "in the name of hope"
despite all that this place is awesome so i definitely recommend going here if you're having a rough time so that the spirit of the white haired guy gives you hope, 1000/10

Hi everyone, this place is perfect for those trying to escape the crowds. The beach is large and clean. There is a restaurant and a small store across the road in-front of the beach where the food is amazing I , I-bought my diner here. The guys there are very polite and the service was excellent. I walked there from my hotel, about half hour walk, but I don’t mind the walking. You can always call a cab. There were some kids kitesurfing and some families came later after me. The water is very clear. Compared to jolly beach I have to choose Jabberwock Beach.
Zulma Solorzano — Google review
Really nice, just stay away from dangerous places, like:
The abandoned building on the first island
Jabberwock Park on the center Island
The beach house on the second island
The ruins on the second island
The music venue on the third island
The Fun House on the fourth island
And the warehouse on the fifth island.
Make sure to be cautious of the wildlife, there are frequent bear attacks. Also, do not interfere if there's a bear attacking a rabbit. Do not try and get water at the beach house, the fridge is always out. Try not to get hurt, as the nurse there is too busy falling over and talking about her "Beloved" to actually help. Don't approach the high schooler with white hair who talks about hope. He's creepy. And avoid the little girl with hair that looks like bananas. She will make you feel worthless. If you see a generic high schooler that looks like he paid to get into a school, please teach him how many sides an octagon has. If the really buff guy gets killed, don't worry. He'll just get turned into a robot. The princess with the bowtie talks about serial killers a lot, but don't be alarmed! She isn't one. However, the swordswoman might be. If a guy with pink hair asks for the princess's number, don't give it to him please. If you find a hamster, please return it to the guy with the long scarf who says "be happy". If there's a fat guy who claims to be someone else or goes by the name "Mr. Ham Hands", don't listen to him. He's an imposter, but he sure reminds me of a certain cosplayer. When arriving, you may become unconscious. Do not be alarmed, that's normal. If you see a short guy with an eye patch, do NOT call him "baby gangsta." You may encounter a girl with large "assets", and she may very well challenge you to a fight. Do not accept, she will beat you up. A lot. Do not approach the chef if you brang children. He will talk about non-family friendly things. If you're a man, ignore the red headed photographer. She will not listen to you, so there's no point in paying her attention. If you spot a girl with a really colorful outfit and speaks in a strange manner, ask her for a mixtape! If you see a girl that looks like she's about to fall asleep, don't ask her to play Tetris. She has PTSD from it.
Keep all this in mind and have a nice trip to Jabberwock!

This is a beautiful beach on the north end of Antigua! Gorgeous white sands, waves aren't too strong but strong enough to body surf if it's the right day. If you love to do sand sculptures this is the right beach for you! Sand is perfect for the art, fine and consistent, only other beach here I can compare is half moon beach. Also a lovely restaurant/market/BBQ (some days of the week) right across the road that serves fantastic shawarma I reccomend the 'britney' wrap. Best one I had out of the three I tried.

This venue was the first Internationally approved venue for cricket on the island. It is also a place where several cricketing records has been set. At one point, the fastest century made by Sir Vivian Richards and the highest individual runs made in a test set by Brian Lara. At present the grounds servers as the home for football on the island and no cricket matches are played there. It is in a serious state of disrepair and needs much attention. However a nostalgic feeling still looms when you approach the ARG.

This is the center of the city. Recommend to bring cash from your home country. Otherwise, you spend time looking for an ATM. We could not withdraw from the AM and had to go to their central bank, wait in a long line and use my debit card to get the money from our bank. Rather then that it was worse a stroll, park the car on the paid parking and you are free to go.

Near a public market place in Antigua. Grocery, clothing, utensils, electric, meat shops. Lot of street vendors. Saturday early morning vegetable produce market around the streets. Economically priced local vendor shops. Parking by the street is limited. Parking violations are ticketed. Near the cruise shipping terminal, duty free shops etc. are close by, in walking distance. Very busy place on Saturday market day.

Whoever decided to paint this should be punched in the face! Where in the world have you ever seen a painted monument. Great sculpture...please remove the hideous paint and restore it to what it was originally. The painting looks tacky and uncultured. Someone needs to have a look around the whole area, come up with a better plan for the layout of the area and execute please.
Prince Klaas was an African slave of supposed royal heritage who led the only well documented slave uprising in Antigua and Barbuda. His plan would have seen the demise of the white slave masters and the birth of a nation headed by former slave. He was betrayed by a "house slave". Prince Klass along with the other freedom fighters were put to death in the most horrific ways such as being pulled apart by horses and broken on the wheel. The white masters wanted to send a strong message to any slave who dared to claim their right to be free.

The Prince Klaas Monument is located on Prince Klaas street and Independence Avenue in St. John's, Antigua. The address of the monument and the fact that Prince klaas is one of the National Heroes for Antigua and Barbuda tells of the significance of the Point of interest.
The Prince Klaas Monument has benches and park-like facilities and the statue itself seems to be of a concrete-like material. The scale or size of the actual monument is reasonably modest, not small mind you but not grand or enormous, The abridged history of Prince Klaas and his significance to Antiguan and Barbudan history is inscribed on plaques forming part of the monument.
All in all an interesting and historically significant place to visit and a good place to relax while in that part of the City.
