Taino Beach boasts of an exquisite white sandy beach and clear blue waters complemented by a small pier, water sports, and sun loungers. It is well-known for its serenity and tranquility as it offers several isolated stretches of sand where visitors can comfortably relax without disturbance.
We absolutely loved our time at this beach! Sand and water is amazing! It's free as well! If you go to the left of the restaurant, you'll see a sign and you can just walk right through. They have wooden chairs to relax on which was nice.

Beautiful beach with calm, clear, warm water and nice sport areas. Not too crowded. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the sheer amount of beach peddlers! We were approached multiple times and harassed to buy jewelry, shells, etc. We had to to leave because it was so irritating. We went on vacation to relax, not to have people badger us!

Really enjoyed this beautiful beach. There is bars and restaurants on the public side that are much more reasonable than the beach club. Dorsett's conch salad was fresh and delicious

Overall...decent beach. Rocks in the water when you get past waist deep. They literally had something for everyone there from hammocks to jet skis...massage to zip line...I just wish you got to zip line into the water. The bar was great and I want to give Sandi a shout out. She was our best bartender on our mini vacation. Would I go back...yeah...is there some place better...maybe. Hope this review helped and don't forget your sun lotion!

Awesome beach with crystal clear water and white sand as far as the eye can see ⛱️

Really nice beach, white sand, calm waters, great for swimming. There are a few bars with sunbeds to rent across the shore. Apart from Pirate's Cove though - a stylish beach bar + actives centre - which had plenty of people, the rest of this beach is pretty quiet. You can go for a good a walk and take really good shots. I'd definitely recommend for families given the quietness of the beach but still having a few options for good and drinks.

The locals were super friendly and made $10 coconut /pineapple alcoholic drinks and offered lobster tails for $25 a plate. I had the fried Red-snapper for the same price, it was nice to eat fresh local food by the beach. They had tables and umbrellas set up and made it easy to eat comfortably with music playing in the background.

Beautiful and busy beach especially during peak cruise ship tourists time. We were not part of the cruise ship hence stay way long after and we got the beach to ourselves. It’s as beautiful as Gold Coast Rock beach when it’s not busy. Water is shallow and calm. We get to see fishes very close up to shore. Others complaint about paying an entrance fee, that is, if you want to be able to enjoy an exclusive section of the beach with other paying tourists. The beach is public, you don’t have to pay a fee to get in. You are at a tourist trap hence will also pay tourist price beverages.

I could have stayed here longer! This was a carnival excursion. The bus ride was not long. Even though we came in November and the water was a little cold it did not stop us from getting in! Food and drink stand were available. Beach umbrellas and chairs were available. Bathrooms were clean. I would come back!

Great local beach. With all the chairs and the shuttered hotels and unkept beaches I imagine this place gets crowded when cruise ships dock for more than 3 hours. They charge for everything ( eg entering the beach, chairs, food drinks, umbrellas, etc.)
The Port Lucaya Marketplace, located in Grand Bahama Island, is a popular outdoor venue that features various shops selling clothing, crafts, and souvenirs. The marketplace also hosts several casual restaurants and bars where visitors can chill out after browsing the goods of over 40 vendors. Spread across 9.5 acres (3.8 hectares), this commercial hub is home to specialty stores and handicraft vendors offering locally made products such as art pieces and hand-crafted gifts.
Beautiful, colorful market, great photo ops!! Hand crafted trinkets, purses, and Caribbean garbs. THE BEST PART IS DADDY BROWN'S CONCH SALAD!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! SO FRESH, MADE RIGT IN FRONT OF YOU! DONT MISS IT!

This was an OK place to shop while visiting. Our last trip here was in 2016 while staying at Memories Resort. Lots of little shops and almost any souvenir imaginable. Even a store for Harley shirts. Those of you who ride know what I mean. We found something for everyone here. Love all the sundresses the locals have.

Decent market place .. have lot of local vendors selling hats, dresses, wristbands etc and shell necklaces . There are a few high end stores as well.
There are few restaurants too

Great place to shop, there is a duty free store and alot of local gift shops. In our opinion this is the best place to go shopping if you want a bang for your buck. One side of the marketplace has restaurants. There is a Cuban cigar store we liked. Prices are about what you would expect to pay for Cuban Cigars. There is a local yogurt shop, it reminded me of Cherry Berry from the US, just a lot more expensive. For two yogurts with limited toppings was over $17.00 which I thought was high. We purchased bug spray from the duty free store, it was around $15. Any toiletry item in our opinion was always high. Towards the back of the marketplace there are small little shops with different local merchandise, we had alot of fun. It was about 10 minutes away from it hotel and costed $26.00 one way per taxi ride. Hope this review helps

Nice place to meet locals and shop. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Come with cash. Lots of shops close early so get there during the day for the best experience. Ask the taxi drivers what they will charge to drive you home up front.

Open air market with usual fare. Clothes, purses, jewelry, candy, eateries and liquor store. Seemed slow considering Carnival cruise ship was in. Check out the tardis. In the US, pay phones are a rarity.
Fred Dombski — Google review
Nice large outdoor shopping and restaurant area near a couple extremely large (however closed at the time of our visit) resort hotels. There are several large open areas with seating and live music. As to the straw market stores - look around, there is a lot of imported generic tourist items (hats / shirts / key chains / etc...) however there is a lot of local things mixed in. Take your time and don't feel the need to buy what you see at the first store.
This area is for tourists, there is a cruise ship schedule posted for local vendors and there is a presence of local police who walk the marketplace.
Matt G — Google review
Disappointed. All the vendors carry basically the same thing and it’s mediocre quality at best. Some of the jewelry shops are decent enough but still nothing special. Be prepared to haggle about price or they will happily overcharge you. I didn’t try any restaurants and they looked good. All in all I’ve seen better stuff at ABC stores.

A great marketplace! Nice local goods. The shop owners can be a bit pushy.

Market is okay. Many shops and restaurants closed on a Sunday. $14 round trip from cruise port. Shopping is the same as you can get at the port. There is a beach across the street worth visiting. A very underwhelming downtown. The locals said it's because of the hurricane in 2019.

Pay close attention...
When you visit Grand Bahama Island, the local taxi services are all very tightly runned when you come off ship... in order to keep prices down, they huddle all the wandering passengers into TWO groups when you disembark...
One group is taken to "the beach," the other group is taken "shopping," and that shopping group gets dropped off here, at the Lucaya Marketplace...
For those anticipating a robust "downtown area," and chose the "shopping," taxi, you may be disapointed that its really just a large outdoor one-story mall, and not a "downtown area" per say...
One side of the island has the "beaches," and the other side, Lucaya Marketplace... so you are forced to chose which group you want to jump in on...
This "huddling" taxi technique, allows large vans to take multiple passengers per destination, and, keep the cost at an affordable $7 each way...
But impatient travelers may get frustrated at the lack of autonomy associated with choosing your own taxi and going "where you want," and, having to WAIT until they huddle ENOUGH passengers to actually send a taxi out...
Otherwise, if you try to find your own private taxi, out side of the organized clan in port, you're looking at about $35 each way...
The marketplace is "ok," nothing spectacular, you may want to chose "beach" when they ask you "where do you want to go?" when you come off the ship...

The Pirate's Cove Zipline and Water Park is an adventure theme park located on a nearly 7.5-acre beachfront property in Grand Bahamas. It offers various activities such as floating bouncy slides, banana boat rides, and a bar & grill for visitors to enjoy. This amusement park is perfect for families with kids looking for an exciting day out. The beach at the park is well-maintained, with clean sand and no trash or seaweed in sight.
We had a wonderful time I'm not sure why Carnival doesn't add this as an Excursion it was a great experience we could have did less of that market shopping right there at the port and spent more time on this beach people were great food was good beer was cold wonderful Gathering Place! Nice place to be at.. 25 min from the cruise port, your driver will be giving you relevant info about the place.. the access gives you a kayak rental , umbrella & lounge chair. Extra activities, souvenir shop, massages and menu to eat are extra from the package you buy. If crowded they will have extra servers in order for everybody to be happy, will open another bar and will have enough equipment to enjoy the day.

Definitely worth every penny spent. The cost is average for most excursions in the Bahamas. The beach was clean, the umbrella and chair service was a great addition as well. Beautiful views and the staff was so friendly to my husband and I. Some special shout outs to:
— Glen — he was our bartender and kept drinks and shots flowing for us. He knew exactly what to make for us when we were indecisive and didn’t know what we wanted. Very attentive, great personality and fun!
— Jasmine & Kavern — they were the beautiful faces behind all the amazing food. The food was endless and they took the time to make us feel welcomed and explain the different types of food they were serving. Food was absolutely amazing. Food was so good we actually brought a to go box back to the US with some rice and pasta. (To go box is a hidden gem) Recommend the Swai fish, rice and the pasta.
In conclusion, the time passes by fast so be sure to enjoy the food and endless drinks on the beautiful warm water they have. Be sure to take care of the staff there as they will take care of you and we definitely will be back!

Ok I had a slightly different experience with Pirate Cove we where on a cruise and was told to take a taxi the ride to the beach would be 14 dollars per person round trip with the promise of jetski wifi and refreshments and a bathroom we get to Pirate Cove was was told it was a private beach and we had to pay 12 dollars per person my group was not buying that we said walking next door they tried to scare us saying we could get robbed im from Atlanta been to many hot zones so we walked next door and had a blast on ride back was told the jetski where not in use that day and the wifi was not all that and the bathrooms where locked someone carried a key just say in the port area my sister took the excursion 44$ per person with the promise of seeing movies stars houses they showed her Sammy Davis Jr house how long has he been dead and they showed a run down empty shack saying it was Bruce Willis house yeah dont think so they also ended up at Pirate Cove so if you have to go bring drinks just take the taxi and walk to the free beach when you get tired go back to the ship btw the photos we took where on the free side

Pretty good place at an awesome beach. First off, everything here is paid. There's a minimum of $12 that you need to pay for entrance fee, and then you also need to pay for the sunbeds. There's a bar serving good selection of drinks, juices, etc and food too. There's a couple of souvenir shops also, and a few water activities (all paid, of course). Jet skying and the banana boat were the popular ones. It is beach front, and the beach is nice, absolutely beautiful, and good for swimming. One thing to keep in mind is, as of this writing, this place only opens when there's a ship coming. So if you're planning on going, make sure it's a day where a cruise ship is visiting the island. And when the ship arrives, there will be a influx of people coming at the same time, so I advise to get before that - I'd say be here 10:00-10:30, tops - or you may either not get sunbeds anymore or get the ones in the worst locations. And, once the folks who are on the ship go back (because the cruise ships are about to leave the island) then the whole place close. This was about 15:30-16:00 when I was there. So if you're staying on the island you'll likely have to wrap up and leave. All in all though, I found this a perfect place to spend day chilling at the beach.

Nice clean beach. They take care of it well. The sand had just been combed and no trash or seaweed. Very nice. I liked that they would come to you on the beach and bring you food and drinks. Small shops to buy souvenirs. Also, massage on the beach tent, and you can get your hair braided there. We visited this beach on a Carnival Cruise excursion.

Over all nice beach. Swiming an snorkeling are small. On June 7th 2022 the water was cloudy and not clear for snorkeling. The food we purchased was good. An order of wings, baked chicken, rice and bean, fries and. Two soft drinks cost $32.00. Bring cash not all places take a card, and machines could be down. I would visit Pirates Coves Beach again we in Freeport

Came here with Carnival as an excursion. We did the all inclusive with food + drinks. We loved it so much and had so much fun. The food was incredible (chicken, ribs, pasta salad, veg, fish and Caesar salad) and the drinks were good and strong with almost no wait to get either. The sand was soft and we saw fish, stingrays, crabs and urchins snorkeling. 10/10! Do the all inclusive for sure! We got 2 chairs and an umbrella too.

Great place to chill at the beach. A lot of activities. Cost about $12 per person to get in. Drinks average $12-$18. Food places and private areas for rent. We rented private area with umbrellas and two large beach chairs for $60(worth it if you don’t want to be in direct sun all day)

Lots of different packages offered like just access to the beach or all you can eat buffet and open bars and even an adult only area. You can rent chairs and umbrellas or her a package that offers it. They offer Jet ski, kayaks and paddle board rental as well as banana boat rides on top of the zip lines. There is a guy walking around with a very sweet blue macaw for pictures. The place has small shops and hair braiding and massage too. Staff is nice and informative.

Pirates Cove offered a fun day out in the Bahamas with stunning beaches and an exhilarating zipline course. Taino Beach boasted soft, white sand and crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The zipline course provided breathtaking ocean views and exciting drops, great for adventurous kids and adults! The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the bartenders who crafted delicious and potent cocktails. While prices were on the higher side, the premium ingredients in the cracked lobster (around $40) and the overall service justified it for a special occasion.

Other free amenities are water trike, paddle boat, and kayaks. Food is available and was good. A bar was also onsite. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent. The view was beautiful. At the bar there was a host who entertained with games and other activities.

There's chairs and umbrellas you can pay for or there's an included area. They have paddle boards, jetskis, kayaks, and the best was paying extra for the banana boat since we were taken down a channel surrounded by a nice neighborhood of houses and they stopped the boat and we got to jump in- water was warm. Saw dolphins swimming too. Awesome cocktails. They come to you. A lady offered to braid my hair and they have massages. A few cute shops. The staff were very nice. Their food looked great- my friends had the lobster bites. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Free Port personally since getting off the cruise here means a required taxi ride to go anywhere... So def go here for time, money, quality, and experience.

Hot and beautiful. Many indigenous plants and some not. A couple ponds, one with a smaller fresh water turtle that swam 100 yards to see if we had something to feed it. We did not. Alas. Much to see with an indoor air conditioned area that had the history of Grand Bahama and it's founding people all the way back to the Arowak. The sea covered the islands ions ago and then receded 300 feet and gradually came back up to it's current level. Much more info as well. And let's not forget Donnie the indigenous parrot.

Rand Nature Center is a great little national park right inside Freeport. I've mostly been there for events (they host lots of good stuff), but there are beautiful trails, and a pond, and educational materials that talk about the ecology of The Bahamas. Disappointing. Trails badly signposted - We spent about an hour walking inside the perimeter fence as we had no idea we were off a trail. We saw few birds and at the pool there was nothing on view apart from two large terrapins swimming in circles.

No displays were set up. Very few signs to identify the plants. The pathways need maintenance and are very uneven. Certainly not worth the price of admission.
