On our tour of the island, we stopped to get an up close and personal look at this ruin. It was very exciting. I fully enjoyed the tour..

The only surviving intact sugar mill in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). A must visit for any historian or someone interested in learning more about the history of the BVI. The mill has had some restoration work, but the coppers and gears are missing.

Sunny Caribbee Spice Shop & Art Gallery is a must-visit spot in the main area of BVI, whether you're on a cruise or staying in the area. With over 40 years of history, it offers an array of spices and souvenirs that capture the essence of the Caribbean. Visitors rave about their hot sauce and jerk seasoning, as well as their collection of local artwork.
Over 40 years in Tortola. Spices that will remind you of the Caribbean on a cold January night and always the most interesting and colorful collection of local artists. This is a spot that I always l look forward to revisiting.

Easy walk from cruise port. I went for the spices and they didn't disappoint. Great selection of spices, jams, and sauces. Great service.

A beautiful place right in the main area where you can shop when getting off a cruise-ship. It is worth visiting whether you are stopping in BVI on a cruise or staying in BVI. I purchased some delicious jelly made right in BVI...lemongrass!

Loved this company! Great people, great products, great Caribe art. Loved, in the past tense, because I'm not sure if they'll be back in 2018-2019 after the devistation of the 2017 hurricane season. So sad. Fingers crossed.
Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park is a serene park renowned for its picturesque bay views and proximity to local boutiques and eateries. It offers an ideal location for families with numerous stores and souvenir shops available on the island, although it can get quite crowded during peak tourist season when cruise ships are docked. The park features an ATM, while the surrounding area boasts several friendly locals who are always ready to offer assistance or recommendations.
This island is really amazing!! You must visit it. You won't regret it. 200 % recommended.

Convenient, clean shopping area at the cruise port. There are a nice variety of shops. Signage is good. You can easily get a taxi or walk into town. When we visited, there was also live music.

Nice place to bring your kids with a lots of stores and places to buy some memorabilias from the island. The services in the most stores was nice. By the time I visited the Disney Cruise was there so there were a lot of people but still nice to hangout. There is a ATM 🏧 accessible in the area and there is a store of nice rums and shot glasses to buy as a souvenirs. Here is some of my pictures hope you enjoy and take the chance to visit.

Very pretty, though very small welcome area for cruise ships. Much renovation still under way. The views are spectacular in the area. The locals are very friendly and helpful. An awesome laid back island to visit and chill. Very relaxing, typical Caribbean island.

Grounds are clean and well kept prices weren’t too out of control, considering it’s just a tourist trap for the cruise ships. All the people that work there in the shops were very nice.

Very pretty and fun place to visit! There are lots of cruise ships and people in the area visiting.

Nice enough for last minute shopping. A drink and quick meal but very touristy. Easy to pick up a shuttle or taxi from there to other more noteworthy parts of island. Free, and clean public bathrooms available .

Good place for a quick look around. At the end there was a road with taxi vans. Prices ranged from 8 to 16 per person each way, depending where you wanted to go. Our driver never came back to get us at the appointed time. Luckily another van was there for some other people. So we made it back to the cruise ship.

Our day at Road Town was fun. The weather really couldn't decide if it should be cloudy, wet and hot or hot & sunny. It was properly tropical! Beautiful place.

The J.R. O'Neal Botanic Gardens, situated in the heart of Road Town on Tortola Island, is a picturesque oasis that boasts a diverse collection of tropical flora. It includes a greenhouse dedicated to orchids and features an alluring lily pond surrounded by scenic pergolas. The garden pathways wind through a mini rainforest with several ponds and waterfalls accentuated by exotic indigenous plants.
We visited this Botanical Garden from a stop from our cruise line.
The garden is situated a few blocks in land from the sea port.
It was beautifully kept, serene and very peaceful.
It was nice just to sit down and enjoy the calmness among the trees and greenery.
There was also live chickens near the back of the park.

This place has beautiful trees, but no one taking care of this place. Very dirty garden with a lot of old dry branches. Was able to take a few cute pictures. Would not go again.

There are great views throughout the hike. But anyone who decides to try going through this cave will be thrilled. It's just unexplainable. A must do.
Bill Fence — Google review
This was a relatively short walk from the cruise port (maybe 20 minutes). Admission was $3 per adult when we went. It was a nice place to walk around and enjoy the beautiful plants. NOTE: The walking directions Google Maps provided at the time I was planning this trip indicated a different route than what you actually have to take. When I looked at the walking route from the port, it indicated I should continue past the police station on Pickenin Road. The entrance is actually on Station Avenue (left turn before you pass the police station). There is a sign at the corner of Pickenin and Station Avenue (see photos) to point you in the right direction.

A delightful small garden and a quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Road Town. The gardens are well maintained with good paths. We saw many exotic species endemic to the British Virgin Islands as well as from elsewhere. Well worth a visit and we would definitely like to go back one day.

Very nice, small 4 acre botanical garden. It is still recovering from Hurricane Irma as of December 2022, so there is some damage still evident. The small space is filled with lush, reasonably well maintained tropical vegetation which could use some signage to aid in identification (thank goodness for Google Lens). It was a delightful, short interlude while on a cruise stop. The garden is about 2 km from the cruise terminal, taking 20 minutes to walk. Some streets along the walk lacked sidewalks, so there was some, unavoidable exposure to traffic traveling on the left side of the road. Google maps sent us to the wrong (uphill) side of the park where there is no entrance. Admission cost $3 for non residents.
George Hesselbacher — Google review
Great place to visit! The labels on the plants are not all there but well worth the price to walk around and look at the pretty things. If you're visiting from the cruise port it's about a mile walk, mostly flat and mostly on side walks.
Jill Shaul — Google review
This is a lovely garden in the center of Road Town. Dozens and dozens of beautiful flowers and trees. Many were identified by signage, but unfortunately most were not. There were plenty of benches and also a number of large shady trellises to get out of the sun for a bit. Chickens and roosters wandered around, but a pleasant surprise was seeing maybe 20 turtles in, and around, a pond of lily pads.
I went to the 530pm Mass on Saturday. It was lovely, enjoyed the Music. They were very welcoming. Thank you!

St. William Catholic Church is located in the heart of Road Town. Many cruise ship passengers would visit the church when they are in town. The church only has one mid day mass during the week and that is on Tuesdays at 12:15pm. Unfortunately the church is not open during the rest of the week which I think is unfortunate because I like to just go into the church any time of the day and just pray in solitude.

This experience was outstanding and a fraction of the cost to go with the cruise ship. They ferry you to the island and bus you to the absolutely beautiful baths. Be sure to leave time for the caves as they are truly amazing. This is a must-do if you’re in Tortola.

North Shore Shell Museum & Restaurant, situated near Road Town in Carrot Bay, offers a unique dining experience. This establishment stands out for its peculiar collection of shells and soursop daiquiris made from locally grown ingredients. While the variety of shells may be limited, the restaurant compensates with appetizing barbecue dishes. Additionally, Stanley's in Cane Garden Bay provides affordable burgers and chicken, along with pricier lobster options.
Visiting a friend and was driving by, begged her to stop! My eyes caught on to the beautiful shells! Omg 🧜🏿♀️ magical place! Highly recommended you go take those feet hands and eyes on down to see the shell man lol esp if you a a lover of the ocean mermaid I wish I was able to upload video! Just go see!

If you're in Tortola, you have to visit the shell museum restaurant! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this local treasure filled with thousands of carefully arranged shells, intricate one-of-a-kind shell artwork, and hand-painted signs, all made by the owner--so beautiful and cool! Then upstairs the owner cooked us to order the most delicious traditional Caribbean food. This place is such a special piece of local culture and history -- definitely stop by & experience it for yourself!

Shells, shells, and more shells. The nice man running the booth on the side of the road and museum of more shells is very sweet. Passionate about the damage done and the cleanup. We purchased a few trinkets and hope it helped. If you like shells, go!

Shell man will cook you a delicious breakfast lunch or dinner. One of the only places we found serving authentic local food. I recommend the Soursop Juice and Conch curry. Don’t miss it!
The BVI Folk Museum is a remarkable destination for immersing oneself in the local culture. This captivating establishment showcases an impressive array of artifacts and trinkets from the island's slavery era. Additionally, another noteworthy attraction to explore is the North Shore Shell Museum, which boasts an extensive collection of shells, boats, and various other crafts on display.

Crafts Alive Village is a treasure trove of unique and handcrafted souvenirs, situated just a short stroll inland from the bustling wharf. While the pier offers its share of shopping options, this hidden gem boasts an array of stores that showcase exquisite crafts and rare finds. With scenic vistas of the ocean and sailing vessels, visitors can peruse the shops for one-of-a-kind mementos.
It’s a place where you feel like you belong like you can relate very peaceful so much bright colors welcoming I love it there

There's a lot to see by just walking a few minutes inland, so don't just stay on the wharf!
While there are several good shopping choices on the pier for the start or end of your tour (look around the outside stores for sunscreen and pharmacy), veer a little further left and walk a minute more to this excellent group of nearby shops for a great selection of crafts and uncommon finds.
(Gracious thanks to the Tortola Police for doing a good job of keeping us from getting mobbed by hustlers and taxi tours.)

Lot's of Souvenirs to purchase with a great view of the ocean and all the sailing vessels The shopkeepers are so nice and very helpful.

There is much that could be done to improve this place. Starting with a focus on selling more authentic local products such as bazz's smoothies. Most of the other stalls all seem to be selling the same cheap clothing that you can find for better prices elsewhere. Another suggestion I would make is to always have a local band playing to help set a welcoming mood, most days it looks and feels pretty dull. I would also give the shop keepers a course in customer service, to better make the customers feel like spending their money.

Fort Burt Hotel is a cozy hotel that offers comfortable rooms and suites, some of which feature balconies with breathtaking views of the sea or mountains. The hotel also boasts an outdoor pool, a restaurant/bar, and free WiFi for its guests to enjoy. Located just over a mile from Cruise Ship Pier and 1.5 miles from JR ONeal Botanical Garden, the hotel provides easy access to nearby attractions.
We're here for 5 days. Last night was our first night, and I enjoyed my sleep. The hotel and rooms are a little dated, but they add character, in my opinion. I love that on the balcony, you can overlook the water. I woke up and got a glimpse of the sunrise. It was so peaceful while observing the still boats. There's lots to see and eat around you. We drove to a restaurant last night but could have easily walked there. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I even went into the shower without shoes because, visually, it looked clean. We even was able to park right outside our rooms area. Please note that this hotel is on a hill. I am a mess when we enter and exit, but my husband is such a skillful driver. Give them a try!!! (RENTAL COMPANY INSIDE MARIA IN CASE YOU HAVE ONE BOOKED.)

Updated my reviews to add the parking lot area located adjacent to the main checkin area. The pool was wonderful. We did see a lot of roaches playing on the wall but it doesn't ruin our stay so far.

Currently staying here and I just want to warn others DONT!!!!! The pics are misleading. The hotel is old and falling apart. Cracks in the wall. Scarce, dirty, mismatched and leaning furniture, water pressure non existent, mirrors dirty, tv doesnt work, no internet, nothing!!! I wont even bother to go to the pool area or inquire about food because Im legitimately afraid. The audacity of this establishment to charge $250/night with false pictures needs to be reported!!! I repeat do not come here!!!

At the moment this is a no frills 2, maybe 3 star hotel. The hurricanes seem to have done quite a lot of damage, so many of the rooms are still in need of repair. Our room was clean and pretty large. There was a balcony that overlooked the marina which was nice. Check-in took about 30 mins.. television and WiFi worked in my room but not in my parents. There is small breakfast available. No room service. One major issue we had was that the air conditioners were filthy. They had mildew inside the fins. This really needs to be taken care off immediately.

The room they need to repair, the wifii don’t work in my room and i found a big cockroach dead inside the room, don’t recommend to anyone.

Expensive but no substance. Asked not to be disturbed by housekeeping on a morning but they knocked and continued banging regardless. On another day, requested a clean but this was ignored. Several times inquired about local transport but only ever offered a Taxi (If I'd have wanted a taxi, I'd have used this word - I used the word bus). Overall, I've paid less for more luxury and service elsewhere so wouldn't recommend.
Dean Betteridge — Google review
Great service, nice location, but on a steep hill if you plan to walk. Great views of the bay and a convenient supermarket is nearby, as well as The Circle Cafe, which has great food. Other than that, the rooms are really old, the hotel itself needs a serious face-lift and looks like it's been neglected for years.

Yes, I get that the hardware and infrastructure are a bit dated, but the place is clean, the staff is super friendly, the location is convenient, and the views are awesome. Value for money in this relatively expensive area is certainly there.

We stayed for two nights after our boat trip this past week. Amazing that the hotel is up and running after seeing the damage to the area. Anyone complaining about the helps attitude should be ashamed. If they knew that the lady running the kitchen by herself had to walk 45 minutes each way and buy and carry the food cooked in the kitchen perhaps they would understand the situation better. The same lady also lost all her belongings including her bed. She is sleeping on her floor. You can bet she would love to stay in that room some are complaining about.
We will definitely stay there again in the future. Views are spectacular.
Edda De Jesus — Google review
The wait staff were horrible and served the food cold. When I complained about my food being cold they gave me an attitude because I did not want my food cold. The other hotel staff were just as rude and seemed like they were bothered to do their job. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Worst choice that I made to stay hotel wise.

I simply can't say enough about this place!!! It was spectacular!!! We stayed in one of the rooms with a private pool. I was worried about the condition that the pool might be in, but as soon as we got there all my worries were put to rest!! The pool was very clean and looked right out over the harbour. Unbelievable views while in the pool!!! The staff was excellent!! Whatever we needed we got right away. They were attentive and very courtious. They helped us with where to go, and not go. The owner actually came by the room and asked if everything was acceptable and thanked us for staying with him.... That just doesn't happen anymore!! I highly recommend this hotel and the extra cost for the pool room IS WORTH IT!!!! We will be back as soon as possible.
Situated in the center of Main St, this historic Anglican church, known as St. George's Episcopal Church, showcases centuries-old pale stone walls and stands as Road Town's most ancient structure. Since we had to wait a while for our excursion, we decided to explore a bit and go check out this park. However I apart from the Tortola sign, the park seems a abandoned and not well kept. There is construction going on nearby, so the access to the park is awful, and the park itself doesn't have any interest. That's a shame...

The Queen Elizabeth II Park has a light green scenery, and it seems to have a very unique and highly decorated sign filled with the traditional history and arts of the British Virgin Islands, the park itself is close to shore and it has a few trees in the main park. There are only a few shelters that can prevent persons from being wet in the rain, and that is where they can like take pictures of themselves. (specifically like selfies) The next part of the park has it's own playground. I have never been to that area, but it seems to look charming and filled with enough joy to make kids under 7 years old have fun without any consequences. These are my pictures with myself and my classmates and teachers.
I will rate this park an 8.4/10

Very nice park area with reasonably maintained bathrooms, a great playground area and a picturesque view of your cruise ship and the boats in Road Harbour. We were here to celebrate our aunts 100th birthday.
Had a great time at Tola. The head brewer, Jose Nyala, opened for us (he was headed to the store as we pulled up) so we could sample all this great newer brewery had to offer. I enjoyed everything, and I'm not typically a lager fan. The stout and premium lager were my favorites. The Stout had a nice rich coffee flavor without any bitterness. The premium lager had a multi-taste that almost gave it a barrel finish without the heavy-handed alcohol taste of most barrel-aged beers. If you were on tortola, you need to make this brewery must see stop. The location is great and it's easily accessible from the cruise port. If you happen to miss the brewery itself, they also distribute to stores throughout the island although you're going to get it best directly from the brewery!!
