Playa Escalera - Reserva Marina Tres Palmas is a renowned marine reserve and beach, well-known for its exceptional snorkeling opportunities. The area is characterized by a ruined staircase, as well as the presence of elkhorn coral and dolphins. This superb beach offers visitors an ideal location to engage in snorkeling activities with remarkable coral formations and vibrant-colored fish found close to the shore. However, limited parking is available, so it's best to arrive early.
Wow, Playa Escalera was a snorkeling paradise. I am so grateful I had the chance to see this beautiful marine preserved reef. If you go wear your reef safe sunscreen and be respectful of this stunning gem of nature🙏🏼.

Beautiful place to snorkel and relax at the beach. So pretty at sunset ! We saw a lot of pretty fish, just be careful and wear water shoes too when snorkeling and don’t get too close to the coral reef or the waves could push you into it and end up with scratches on your body.
Catrece Hurd — Google review
This beach is beautiful but rocky at the waters edge. There are trees along the beach for shade. There are coral reefs here, so there is plenty of sea life to see while snorkling or diving. I recommend keeping your shoes on while on this beach and in the water. There are sea urchines everywhere. Parking is limited close to the beach, but people park all along the side of the road with no issue.

This is the most beautiful beach in Rincon! But not the best for swimming. I would recommend spending more time at Sandy Beach then Steps Beach, but you still have to check out this beach! There is great snorkeling because of the coral reef off the shore! In conclusion, I would say that Steps Beach is the most picturesque beach in Rincon, and a must see attraction!

Excellent beach for snorkeling. You can easily get a shaded spot. The lip of the island is rock, so there is not much sand to stir up. The coral is amazing and close to the shore. Ton of fish with vibrant colors. Parking is limited. I added a video of the street parking and the small strip to get to the beach. Great for families. Nice and quiet.

Some comments might have already said this but this is not an easy beach for beginners. It is certainly great for snorkelling but getting into the water is hard with all the rocks, seaweed and sea urchins. Some parts of the water is really shallow and you come really close to the amazing elkhorn corals, which sounds great but also brings the risk of hitting them when you are swimming.
Just look for a good entry point and get out from there. If you are not comfortable at swimming, you don’t have to be there even though it is great for snorkelling. Also, the sunset is amazing.
Alper Inecik — Google review
It’s a nice little beach with decent snorkeling since there is a coral reef right off the beach.
When walking into the water, it will be quite slippery - that is coral reef you are walking on, so try to start swimming as soon as you can. I went about 30-40m in, following the reef, saw a lot of fishes throughout.
The swing over the water makes for some nice photos too.
Akshat Agarwal — Google review
Fantastic snorkeling. The best spots are further out into the waves beyond the stone steps so make sure you’re a confident swimmer or have proper flotation devices. We saw dozens of types of tropical fish and several different types of coral - some were massive! Use reef safe sunscreen, don’t touch the coral, and enjoy the ocean scenery!
Austin Hartman — Google review
A great beach that is easy to find and worth visiting. It wasn't too crowded when we were there and there was a lot of space available in the shade. The only gripe I have is there is not a lot of parking and cars parking along the access road make it effectively one lane with some places having a steep gutter and little room to turn around. Other than that, I would recommend it and go again.
Tyler Oliver — Google review
Fantastic snorkeling!! The shallows are super rocky and lots of sea urchins but there is a smoother entrance about 50ft south of the steps. About 5-10ft into the water, the rockier part drops off quick and opens up more. We snorkeled and swam around tons of coral, rock and fish! Pretty private beach, no facilities but about 10 min walk from Marina.
Brooke Lynn Barlow — Google review
Beautiful little beach with minimal parking. Snorkel just 10 feet from the beach and see tropical fish and corals! Great place for families, and photo ops with the steps. Highly recommend to stop here and spend the day!
Brandy Purdon — Google review
Great place to catch the sunset. It’s quite rocky with sharp sea urchins along the shores, so wear shoes. Not ideal for beginners or little kids, but a great spot if you want to see marine life. Be mindful of where you’re stepping.
Parking is extremely limited so many people park along the street and walk in.

Absolutely loved this beach for snorkeling! It's definitely popular and parking is not only limited but super tight, but it's worth it if you're coming here to snorkel (I recommend coming early, like before 11a for the best vibes). We saw so many beautiful types of coral and fish, including barracuda. We could have stayed for hours.

Fantastic beach hangout spot and snorkeling!!! Make sure you go in/out of the water by the main beach area, very rocky otherwise! Super quiet and peaceful!

Steps is another one of those beaches that holds a special place in my heart in PR. It is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Rincón that I've been to. This is a good place to go snorkeling if you want to see A LOT of life under the water. I found an entire Elkhorn coral garden underneath swarmed with surgeonfish, angelfish, goat fish etc. As a safety precaution, pay attention to where you enter because there are parts that I would advise you don't walk into from the shore. There are hundreds if not thousands of sea urchins (black spiky looking fellows) embedded on the rockier substrate and if you step on one, you will have a very bad day. This place is more for exploring than say a typical beach swim. It's not too far from other beaches that are within walking distance too. Parking is one narrow road that people park on the side of. Can be difficult to get in or out.

I think its one if the best beaches in Rincon for sure, every corner is gorgeous, every corner is beautiful, it’s a very protected area, please being your garbage bags and don’t litter. Very beautiful for photo ops, amazing to snorkel and see the fishies, occasional turtles, occasional jelly fishies, corals and everything else. There are some coves that are safe for the babies and the dogs. Amazing place.
Faro Punta Higueras is a picturesque lighthouse that dates back to the late 1800s and is located in a scenic oceanfront setting. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the nearby beach, watch surfing competitions or simply relax in one of the many seating areas available. The elevated perch provides an excellent vantage point for observing the sunset or taking pictures. Local vendors selling crafts may be present on occasion, adding to the charm of this historic landmark.
Very nice lighthouse and park. Lots of areas to seat and/or just admire the beautiful beach nearby. We were lucky to see whales!!! Also, there was a surfing competition the same day we were there, so it was nice to watch it for a while. There were local vendors on the parking lot selling crafts. I'm not sure if it is always there or just because of the surfing competition.
Anyway, nice place to stop by, take pics and enjoy the views!

This was a beautiful place to stop at and enjoy the view. When we went there was a surf competition at Domes. We loved visiting this place and even had a sangria before we continued our trip. There were artisans and even and ice cream stand like the ones you would find at the beach.

Beautiful location with food and drinks! Descend to a surfers beach or casually watch the surf and sunset from the elevated perch.

Absolutely beautiful. The best location in PR for sunset lovers. This place is well thought. There is a walkway around the lighthouse and over the cliff with great views, no matter where you stand. Food and drinks are available at the restaurant or you can bring your own. Plenty of parking. Drone friendly. No fee. Access to the lighthouse not possible. No reservations necessary. Short walk from the parking to the lighthouse. Best sunsets ever!

Wonderful Views and Experience.
If you are visiting the West Side of Puerto Rico, you have to make a stop on each of the lighthouses of the West. But the most impressive of them all, is the Punta Higueras.
The view from this place is spectacular, you can see the Mona Island from the place and also, you can enjoy the nature’s view and scenery around.
There is also spots where you can enjoy with family and friends and have a good time while enjoying your surroundings.
Very amazing place.

Puntas beach next to playa domes is absolutely gorgeous! Was about a 3-5 min walk down the beach and some light climbing over a few rocks to get to but was a very secret beautiful beach! Tons of landscape that’s pretty and the waves sound amazing. While walking down beach could see some tents in the tree line of some campers so seems like a great relaxing unofficial camping spot!

We enjoyed it a ton! And just incase you can’t see the video down below here is what we had to say!
“Get ready for a journey through time and beauty at the Punta Higuera Lighthouse, just a quick 9 minute drive from Container Coquí. It's that perfect place to hang out and watch that amazing Rincón sunset. Grab a drink at the restaurant on site and stare out at the surfers riding the waves in Dome's Beach. There's no lighthouse quite like this one.”

Beautiful views, the visit is less about the lighthouse although it's an interesting relic. There were humpback whale breaches spotted from the boardwalk bar. A very easy and pleasant beach path with multiple access points. Wonderful way to spend a couple of hours

Beautiful historical light house, and the ocean very is peaceful. While we were there we spotted two humpback whales in the water. 🐋
We watched the sunset on the horizon. It was a great way to spend the evening.
There is also restrooms inside the park and a small cafe with a bar as well.

Nice iconic tourist spot.
Free parking spots close by. One restaurant at location and public restrooms available.
Lot of food trucks and small local stalls for shopping.
Free entry and you can walk to Playa Maria beach.
Domes Beach, also known as Red Beach, is a popular spot for big-wave surfing during the fall and winter months. The area around Rincon on Puerto Rico's west coast gained fame for hosting the 1968 World Surfing Championships, showcasing surfers conquering the frequent 15-foot-high waves. For those seeking a quieter experience, a short walk behind the dome leads to a trail along a raised seawall with stunning views of lush tropical cliffs and the ocean below.

It's a wonderful place to see the sunset!! There is a long boardwalk with lots of benches and room for everyone to grab a spot along the railing to get pictures. There is a small walk-up bar making mixed drinks so you can get a drink to sip while you watch the sun go down. When we were there, they only took cash or Venmo, so go prepared. There is access to the beach if you prefer to take your drink down on the sand. We plan to go back again while we are here in beautiful Puerto Rico!!!

This was unexpected great on our vacation. We came for the light house, but bought some souvenirs from a local family, got drinks, watched surfers, listened to a local play music at the bar, and watched horse back riders across the beach. Great views of the famous surfing area from up high.

This is a nice and well maintained park in the area with great views of the seas to the west. We visited twice, once at sunset. If the weather is clear I would expect great views of the sunset as the only thing visible in the west is the sea. There is also a small canteen that serves drinks including alcoholic beverages that may be open on the weekend. You can also walk down to Domes Beach where you will probably see some surfing.

Everywhere you visit on the west coast is truly a gem. When visiting the lighthouse, there is a small beach on the Northside of the lighthouse with very calm waves in front of the decommissioned power plant. The foliage is breathtaking , and of course they have positioned a bar and restaurant on the grounds. My kids who were grumbling in the beginning, enjoyed using the viewers and the sunset backdrop for pictures.

Great place to look at the ocean. Getting there was kind of scary because of all the turns and mountains but the place was worth it. It has the most beautiful view I've seen in the area and the sunset is supposedly the most beautiful in PR. I would suggest going close to sundown so you can fully absorb everything. There is a lot of sitting area if you're willing to get dirty if not standing will do the trick. There are also a lot of people selling touristy things when you first get there and they also sell paletas which is a great refreshing snack.

Staying at this Villa was an amazing experience. The layout makes it feel like home, but also like the luxury villa that it is. It is spacious, has all the amenities you could need (pool, two fully outfitted kitchens, washing machines, living rooms, hot-tubs, and 2 outdoor wet bars). It accommodated our group of 15 easily, and also provided easy access to the beach and surfing (the beach is literally out the back door-see picture), and is within walking distance of 3 bars/restaurants. The property manager (Elizabeth) also booked excursions (surfing, charter fishing, horseback riding), experiences (yoga at the villa) and transportation from the airport and to various places on the island. Highly recommend staying here, it is well worth the trip!

We just had our wedding at Maria's Luxury Villa and it was EVERYTHING we could've hoped for. The property manager, Elizabeth, is kind, responsive, and attentive. The staff are so friendly and considerate. And the property itself...just WOW. The photos don't even do it justice. It's gorgeous. It's also in a perfect location: oceanside (stunning views), right by some great restaurants and an adorable coffee shop. We can't wait to go back for another vacation!

Absolutely incredible , Maria’s is top of the line in every aspect . Fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need. pool was fantastic with everything you could possibly want or need. Grounds are immaculate and out of a story book. Inside everything is updated and not just perfect , but luxurious! I loved the two separate sides ( both with full kitchen , hot tubs etc ) so if anyone needed a little down time there was PLENTY of space . Can literally walk out to the ocean off the back of the pool and out front is a 2 minute walk to calypsos bar / restaurant and one of the greatest smoothy places. I loved ( having kids ) that the entire place is fenced in and feels incredibly private . Staff is incredible and so kind . Love the back story and history of it all ! If I could give 100 stars I would !!!

I would recommend Maria's to anyone and everyone. Everything from the guest information (a quick link with all you need to know (pins, netflix login, door codes, restaurants, etc) to the daily services to the amenities to the location was just absolutely amazing. Elizabeth and Cristina from Maria's were quick to answer all our questions and facilitate our arrival. We slept 13 people easily. All the rooms were stunning and large. The king suites in both Maria's and Ramon's are very big and could easily sleep more than 2 people. The house had every amenity you could want. When arriving, the house had been stocked with the requested groceries, complementary rum and fruit. The furniture was beautiful and made the house feel cozy and accessible. Unlike most VBRO and Air BnBs the houses utensils, cups, pans, etc matched and were in great condition. They provided beach towels, laundry soap which was great to save moeny and space in bags The outside was completely beautiful and the gardens were well manicured. The pool was taken care of daily during the stay. There was daily light maid service which made it even more luxurious. The pool sits right above the beach and from the above balcony you can view the ocean and hear the waves. Down from the gate by the pool, you walk onto Maria's beach. It is rock but there are numerous places you can enter to get into the ocean. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SNORKELING OR SCUBA (we went in off season August so surf was not there). The reef was amazing and accessible. It is not a great swimming beach but its just a 2 min drive to the beach. The house itself is next to two bar restaurants (Calypso and Beach House). Both are fun and great views of the ocean. The house feels so well done and comfy. We also hired a Chef (Chef Gabby) and he was amazing. He came recommended from Maria's and he did not disappoint. It made life so easy and was reasonably priced. However, there are beautiful grills and kitchens to cook in. The grocery store is about 5 mins (Econo) and a liquor store about 5 minutes (La Licoreria). The internet was strong and had no issues connect which was nice because cell service was limited. Maria's has cisterns for water back up and a generator for power. During August it does rain, and during our stay we would have until around 2pm until it rain until 4/5PM. Then it was back to beautiful. The AC units were great in the house and kept it cool. The house was spacious and gave our two families staying there space to be together or a little a lone time if needed. If you are thinking about staying here, just do it! I promise it wont disappoint.

This place is AMAZING! Absolute paradise. Great proximity to two bars that are also popping, but never loud or disruptive. The beach is literally outside the back door. The pool area is always bathed in sun and kept incredibly clean. Highly recommend!

Traveled all the way from Sabana Grande to this gallery based upon the hours that I saw posted on their website. To my surprise I got there to find the place closed for the day and new hours posted on their door. The market was fantastic. They had a wide variety of local fruit and vegetables, a local cacao vender, plenty of juice stands, a couple bakeries, all the art vendors from Thursday, and my favorite, a local family that makes cheese from their cows. My only regret was not buying more cheese!
For fruit, we brought home Mamey Sapote (Three on top), Guayaba (guava), a coconut, dried starfruit, and something else I forgot the name of (maybe Jobo?) but is delicious!
We also brought home pickled local sweet peppers, which are incredible, that epic local cheese, and some tomatoes a guy grew in his backyard.
Most of the local bars and restaurants are open at the same time as the market, and the vibe is comfortable happy community island life.
Note the rig I didn't get at the market, I had to buy that at the smoke shop down the road 🤙🏼 And the sauce from a local medical Dispensary 😉

Not really a farmer’s market, more of a food and crafts market. Good variety of hand made stuff, some interesting food to try, too much jewelry, and lots and lots of small paintings, small woodwork, stickers, art, etc. No bargains, no price gouging; everything seemed to be full retail price or negligibly more. This is a good stop if you’re in the area, less rewarding if made a destination. And, as with every other similar market I’ve seen, vendors leave early.

Playa Corecega is a tranquil and leisurely beach getaway that provides peaceful waters for swimming and standup paddle boarding. Despite the remains of erosion from Hurricane Maria, the sand is nearly white and granular, with clear water ranging in shades of turquoise-blue-gray. Palm trees fill the area with abundant coconuts that contain fresh water. On sunny days, visitors can enjoy soaking up the sun while also finding some shade to relax under.
Though there are still remnants of the erosion from hurricane María, this is, after all, A BEACH... IN RINCÓN ! The sand is almost white, loose and grainy, not brown and muddy. The water is clear and varying the usual turquoise-blue-gray. The palm trees line, brimming with cocos, if you can get one they're full of water. On a sunny day you can work on your tan and have just enough shade to sit it out as well.

Great place to get away and enjoy the beach. Great to camp overnight because everything is near you so you can pack light. My only observation would be for people to clean up after themselves (even though locals take great pride in keeping the areas clean) also keep your dogs at home! This is most important due to the turtles constant nesting near the beach.

Parking lot is small. Space is limited and you need to know how to park. Don’t come here if you’re uncomfortable parking extremely close to others. The beach is right next to a small aisle what is connected by bridge where you can find a restroom and food vendors. There are many vegetarian options but I’d highly suggest that you try the chicken tacos from the hut close to the main road (across from the bakery) The beach is popular with tourists but there’s a good balance between us and locals.

This was a last minute find! Great Sandy beach, waves were just right for fun. Adequate parking and close to some kiosks to purchase drinks and snacks. Will mark as a favorite!

Best beach in the Rincon area. The beach is sandy, clean and rock free to spend a nice relaxing day. Best place to view the sunset as well. Plenty of free parking space.
