Beautiful beach, great for swimming. Shaded palapas or umbrellas (for rent). Restaurant workers walk along the beach and ask if you want any food or beer. We enjoyed our time here!

Well maintained Public beach with plenty public parking,, restrooms and showers. The Water is great to swim and good for kids. Bring your own food or buy it at the beach side

This beach has free parking, showers (with signs that say using shampoo/soap is prohibited), and bathrooms. There’s a long pier where you can walk and take pictures. I see where people say there are 2 zip lines but I didn’t see any staff or signs for it (I went on a Monday at 10am) so maybe they’re closed Monday’s. I would have sat at the beach in the shade (there were also chairs/tables for rent), but I saw a lot of ants in the sand so I decided against it.
I’m not a beach person but between all the stairs/ramps/pier/restaurants there was a lot to walk around and explore. There’s also a bike path and sidewalk that goes along the road/rock wall that was shaded for part of the morning. There’s benches to sit on along the way too.

Lovely beach, very close to El Paz. They have umbrella/table/chair rentals for about 10 USD/hour when I visited in 2023, and there is table service for food and drinks. The water is crystal clear, warm, and calm.

Pretty calm ocean, sand is soft. There are restaurants and bars with servers that come down to the beach and offer chairs (plastic chairs, not lounge chairs) and tables if eating. Ignore the big container ships in the distance.

Stumbled on this place exploring La Paz from Todos Santos. It is a Tuesday 2/23, beautiful sunny day temp around 75, very light breeze. Easy parking, no crowds. Locals seem to like this spot. Couples and families here. They offer umbrellas, chairs and tables. Ordered some civiche and guacamole, large portions and so delicious. The big bottles of Pacifico seem to be a bit here. Very friendly staff, not much English but that was no problem. A pleasant mix of music from people's radios. The water is very clear and calm, and warmer than the pacific side. All in all a great place to relax for the afternoon.
The La Paz cathedral is a large, ornate church with a simple facade. It's popular for religious events, and features beautiful baroque altar pieces.
Gorgeous classical interior that “Wows”
any visitor of the historical architecture and it’s magnificent beauty. I am in total awe attending Mass every Sunday and frequent daily visits. Having relocated from Santa Rosa, California to La Paz recently, I am truly blessed that the Cathedral is only 10 mins walk from my apartment. Originally I am from a small island in the South Pacific called Rotuma. My parents moved to Fiji when I was (7) years old. Mass in the Cathedral is always full, and although am learning Spanish the singing is beautiful. A must see place when visiting La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico 🇲🇽. Thank you to the past and present parishioners for the ongoing maintenance and restoration of the cathedral. May God Bless Each And Everyone For Their Contributions and Commitment 💖🙏

Another beautiful Mexican Catholic church. It looks newer. I was rushing, so I prayed and kept going. Didnt get to learn the history. Do a quick stop here when in La Paz. 10 mins is enough.n

We have attended mass on Sunday morning in Spanish. (I love their version of the "Our Father.") We're still wanting to know if there is one in English, but not counting on it.

Es un lugar iconico de la ciudad de La Paz, tienes que venir y checarlo.
It’s one of the most iconic places in the city, must come and check it out.
Playa Pichilingue is a stunning beach located in La Paz, Mexico. It boasts soft white sand and clear turquoise waters, making it an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. The beach is known for its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings, perfect for those looking to relax and unwind. Visitors can also enjoy various water activities such as snorkeling and kayaking in the calm waters of Playa Pichilingue.
Serpentario de La Paz is an ecological park that serves as a shelter and sanctuary for over 150 species of reptiles, birds, and other rescued animals. It offers a petting zoo for children and provides educational programs about the local wildlife. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring the well-being of the animals. Visitors can see, touch, and learn about various creatures while supporting their recovery from injuries before being released back into the wild.
This place has been a highlight of our time in La Paz! It’s a small rehabilitation center for injured or abandoned animals. It now costs 200 pesos per adult, which was well worth it! We saw the animals being lovingly, and attentively cared for. There is an area for group education. You can purchase food for some of the animals in the gift shop. We didn’t notice that until we were on our way out, but this did not detract from our experience. The best part is the aviario where guinea pigs and various birds are very social. The birds would land on our arms and nibble at our feet. The guinea pigs also were interested in touching our feet, but not being held. It was magical!
CherylAnn Crego — Google review
Very impressed. Drove by this place many times without ever seeing it because it's in a residential area. As being someone who helps care for a reptile (see some of my other reviews), we were impressed by the whole experience. The critters seem happy and healthy. The staff seem to really enjoy what they do. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a visit. FYI, They are providing care for more than just reptiles.
KC Dwyer — Google review
Nice area to bring the kids and see various snakes, monitor lizards, birds and other rescued animals. Fun gift shop area too with fair prices.
Brett Ruprecht — Google review
A small zoo, with turtles, reptiles and birds. There is a fee for entry, and you can purchase small amounts of food for the turtles, birds and rabbits. A small information card gives the animals scientific and common name, region and diet, in both Spanish and English.
The animals appear to be well cared for. Some are being rehabilitated and some are permanent residents, used for educational programs. (There was a Mexican Grey Fox there when we visited -- so cute!)
The turtles, birds and rabbits are habituated to expect food from visitors, so they will swarm you pretty aggressively.
The only unfortunate part was the number of biting insects. We all had 20+ bites on our legs and arms before we were done. Wear bug repellent!
Bits — Google review
A great educational visit for adults & kids. Various snake, lizards, turtles - (endemic/native and alien/non-native species) rescue birds (last 2 times there was an injured caracara and snow owl in rehabilitation)
The rabbit/guinea pig enclosure is hilarious entertainment for all!
Locals discount for residents / nationals. Nice little gift shop supporting local artists.

Great way to see some of the local wildlife (in recovery) and also fun for kids to get hand's on to feed the budgies and guinea pigs.

Great place for families!!! This animal’s shelter and sanctuary have a good number of wildlife species of local reptiles, birds and other creatures.
Also has petting zoo for the little ones.
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals they live & recovery from injuries before returning to the wild.
Regarding the size of the place, it’s a great opportunity to see, touch and learn about the locals wildlife.
My kids love it, we will definitely come back on our next trip to La Paz.
ovide carrillo — Google review
It's 100 pesos per adult. My 3 year old daughter was free. This place is good if you have kids. There are lots of animals here for them to see. I liked seeing the many varieties of snakes local to BCS that I likely won't see in other zoos.
There was one snake that allowed you to buy a mouse for 30 pesos or a rat for 50 pesos to feed it. Would have been interesting to watch but I felt too guilty to do it.
My daughter's favorite part was the bird/bunny area. The birds can get a bit excited for food but the rabbits are very used to being handled. She had so much fun that she cried when we left.
I heard so many horror stories about this ferry but I had a great trip. No, a title is not needed for your vehicle, registration is fine. There is a place to take care of this at the port.

Most incompetent and unprofessional ferry company I have come across in 40 years of travels. We booked a trip with a double cabin from Topolobampo to Pichilingue 3 weeks in advance. Two days before departure my bank informs me I got a refund from Baja Ferries as they cancelled the reservation. I wrote to them, called them, WhatsApped them. No reply, no explanation not even a notification they have cancelled the reservation, fortunately my bank told me!!!! Terrible management and non-existent customer service or respect for that matter. Save money and time and avoid Baja Ferries at all cost. You can fly Los Mochis yo La Paz for less than 100 USD and in 45 min.

OK, I heard of so many nightmares, yet it was fantastic. The room (balcony room) was really comfortable, clean and no noise, I slept a good 8 hours.
I got dinner (pretty basic) and had to pay for very basic offerings for breakfast.
The ride was really calm. I took my motorcycle and arrived at 6pm (8pm departure) it was only 30 minutes and was on boat with all my gear.
Went up escalator to reception, left my license as deposit for TV remote and room key and was escorted to my room.
Getting off the boat only took 30-45 minutes after we stopped too!
We are all off the boat by 11.30am after arriving around 11am.
The boat was not full, so maybe I was lucky. But I had a great experience!

Great trip. You can travel night time to Mazatlán or evening to Topolobampo. Make sure to bring cash for the Frontier Tax (if bringing a car). In the marina you'll find a cafeteria and souvenir shops. At the ferry you will have cinema (people without cabin also sleep here) , free dinner with your ticket. And a complimentary coffee and bread in the morning or breakfast with extra cost. They have a bar inside (alcohol and snacks).
To reserve use WhatsApp early in the morning they will answer faster. Excellent service.

Everyone was super nice and helpful...it was definitely a bit pricey....I got a dog friendly cabin and it came up to over $200 but a small price to pay to have her by my side....also NOTE: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH!!! And they have no ATM's so if you want some drinks or food other than the included dinner you will be S.O.L.....other wise the experience was great!

Here Comes That Sinking Feeling. Actually the company has substantially improved it's service quality without missing a beat related to price increases. The boarding process in Mazatlan is still a circus, but staff is generally helpful. On a recent crossing I had an excellent interior cabin with spotless bath. The food is nothing to tweet home about.

Bad. The ship's facilities are precarious, bad restaurant, cabins without windows, they treat passengers like cattle. They separate families in boarding and disembarking. They should have better procedures. Website advertising is misleading. I think it's a trip for truckdrivers. We trip Pichilingue Topolobampo 😖

It was one of the worse experiences with a transportation company i've ever had. The web-page doesn't work well, it shows availability when there is not and once we put in our credit card number and clicked enter the page just got blank. Then we tried to call the hotline and waited for one hour without response.
The people were unfriendly and unhelpful, you do not get all information and the ones we got differed a lot (don't trust the homepage, you can leave from mazatlan f.e.). I was very very disappointed, nearly ruined my planned holiday.
The local history museum Museo Regional de Antropología E Historia de Baja California Sur is an interesting place for people interested in the region's history. The exhibits cover a period from pre-Hispanic times up to the early 20th century, and include objects from archeological digs and paintings of local caves. Much of the information is in Spanish, but there are some English translations available. The staff are all very friendly and happy to tell you about the various exhibits.
La Paz has only a few museums but all are worth visiting. The Museum of Anthropology and History of Baja California Sur tells the story of the Baja peninsula going back 1000s of years up to the 20th century through interesting and engaging displays. The location is a doable walk from the Malecón and is and enjoyable 90 minute+ visit.

Nice little local museum about the regional history. I especially liked the cave paintings replica - very cool! All descriptions in Spanish only, so have your translation app ready if you are not Spanish speaking. Everyone is super friendly and the museum guides like to share :)

I thought that this was a very nice little museum. In the interest of full disclosure I am a total nerd. We went on a Sunday (closed Monday); the cost was 75 pesos (<$5) and well worth it. The descriptions for each of the exhibits were quite informative, and the content was good. The descriptions were in Spanish, but if you use the QR codes on most of the signs then there are good
English translations. There are exhibits on prehistory/early habitation, colonial period,
and through the various revolutions. I do wish there was more geology, but that is a personal taste. RECOMMENDED, if you like museums more than beer and need to escape the sun for a couple of hour’s.
Rex Dietz — Google review
Definitely worth a stop if you’re in La Paz. The museum is well designed and they have volunteer tour guides who are fully fluent in English. You will learn the history of the Baja California peninsula, from the first settlers to now. It’s truly a wonderful experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by their exhibits, artifacts, and artwork. There are 3 floors, and each floor is a different time period in history. Starting with the natives culture & lifestyles to the Spanish influence / history to the founders of the country. All were very well depicted & made it easy to follow. The staff was very friendly & helpful as well.
Janis Paglilla — Google review
Friendly, helpful staff. Museum is about half dedicated to colonial era forward. More of a History and Anthropology Museum than an Anthropology and History Museum. Native people before Spanish contact are portrayed as extremely primitive. Learned more about the Native people more from Wikipedia. The Spanish, the Jesuits, and "founding fathers" of the state are extensively covered.
Colonialism is portrayed positively, no mention of the disease, removals, and cultural/language erasure suffered by the original inhabitants. Overheard a staff person explain to a Canadian visitor that this was because the Spanish culture is the culture of Mexico and right or wrong they have Spain to thank for what they have now. I wasn't aware that this was still a common sentiment in Mexico, so I guess that's what I learned here.

This museum was amazing to visit. We had Levi tour us around and share the stories and facts about the history in this region. It was so educational and our group really enjoyed listening and learning. The artifacts and exhibits were so well done and shown. We loved the experience, and reflected long after about how amazing it was. This is a must visit attraction in La Paz. Levi was so great at answering questions and sharing details that fascinated our group. Would return for sure!

We went to visit last Friday Jan 5th 2024 at 3:15 pm. Unfortunately doors were locked with no signs posted about closing early. The security guard approached us to let us know he could not let us since they were closed and the lady inside at the main counter confirmed it. I argued they had different closing time online wich they replied it was not the right info and they were closing at 4 pm. I told them we were coming from far away and it was 3:15 pm if possible please give is the chance it wouldn't take us longer than 30 min to finish the tour but they did not let us in. We stayed there outside with the children and realized lady at the desk went out the building 5 min after denying our entry so figured she had to do some personal errands. She came back a few minutes before 4:00 pm and posted the closed sign but still there were visitors coming out the museum after 4.
Horrible experience for the kids who were excited to see the museum and very irresponsible workers and false online information.
Thanks

Located in the heart of La Paz, it provides convenient access to the Malecon for relaxation and exploration. The outstanding customer service sets it apart, ensuring a memorable stay for guests.
My recent overnight stay at Marina Cortez with a couple of catamarans was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled right in the heart of La Paz, its prime location offers direct walking access to the Malecon, making it a convenient spot for both relaxation and exploration. What stood out the most during our stay was the outstanding customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of, making our experience truly memorable. This place is hard to figure out the first time you come here. It seems to be both a commercial plaza a place to live. There are signs for businesses. A dentist has an office here, for example. I'm finding that medicine and dentistry is located and prices according to a doctor's or dentist's ability to invest in a place that is so nice and so well-located that people will flock to him or her with bags of money with which to exchange for services they could possibly have gotten for 60 pesos from an equally qualified doctor at the Farmacia Roma. But that's another topic. Here at the plaza, you're more likely to eat at a beach-side restaurant than you are likely to do anything else.
