Fremantle Prison, a grand and aged penitentiary, offers immersive exhibits on convict life, guided tours, and a café. Standing tall with its imposing 5-meter-high walls, this historic prison remains a dominant landmark in Fremantle. During the day, visitors can choose from various tour options such as the Doing Time Tour which explores areas like the kitchens, men's cells, and solitary-confinement cells.
Fantastic tour!!
Wow what a great day. We came here on the spur of the moment and loved it.
We were able to book a tour without pre booking which was so handy. We booked the "Behind Bars" which covered the history of the jail.
Our tour guide James was amazing 👏 Such an informative and knowledgeable tour guide with a great personality. James knew how to keep us interested and his jail trivia was fascinating.
Thanks James!! 😊
Free parts are available for viewing by the public including the art gallery. The art is contributed by current inmates of WA.
Highly recommend giving the jail a visit and doing a tour.

A really fascinating place to visit. Learning about how it was built and how the prisoners were living and the number of stories just keeps you wondering. A great place for history lovers. They have different types of tickets available for day tours and night tours. It's best to buy the tickets in advance especially if visiting on weekends. A must visit and is suitable for all ages.

A lovely family friendly attraction to visit while you’re in Fremantle. They run multiple tours which don’t overlap much with each other; we did the true crime tour which we found very interesting.
Our guide Debbie was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged with many interesting real life stories. We got to see the inside of some cells and got to go into a gun tower as well, although if you want to see more of that kind of things you’ll have to do the behind bars tour.
Highly recommend whether you’re a tourist, or a local looking for something fun and educational at the same time.

What a wonderful day we had at Fremantle Prison. We had never been before a d decided to check it out. My 7 year old son absolutely loved it which was fantastic. He actually stood there and listened to the tour guide. Our incredible guide was so informative, funny and really made the tour for us. We can't wait to go back to do the other tours. We had a choice between 2 tours with my son but there were so many more if you had older children or are an adult. It was really a great day out and we look forward to going back. The price was really great too.

It was such a fantastic way to spend a day we did the behind the bars tour and the convict tour. Each tour gave a different perspective of the prison, and we heard stories of prisoners' everyday life and some unique prisoners who made history in another way. Definitely check it out if going to Fremantle and do as many tours as you can if you are into dark history. I can't wait to go back and do the tunnels and true crime tour. The only downer is you should pack some food because the cafe doesn't serve much and the tours run over an hour each it's hungry work.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Prison doing 3 tours of the facility. (The best one was the prisoner tour but the True Crime and Convict tours were also informative.) The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. A great insight into the WA convict and prison system.

Tunnel tour is top notch.
We had a pretty interesting group, so that made it a bit more fun.
They could do with more shade here,
It'd be nice if they planted some trees, even just in large planter boxes.
The Cafe had a decent range of vegetarian food, which was surprising.
They even had better selection than most of the cafes in Fremantle.
Good work.
I'd highly recommend doing the tunnel tour, and do it now before all the water drys up!

We had a wonderful experience staying in this unique accommodation. We had a good look at the place and learn a lot about the history of the prison. Very clean and lots of common areas to sit around and chat. Great location and easy to access to Fremantle CBD. Friendly and helpful staff, great value for money , would like to come back again.

Really interesting place to visit, the tour I did was even better a gaining behind the scenes access and extra information. Ken the guide was incredible. My only issue was it wasn’t long enough, it felt a little rushed and I could have listen to him talk for hours more.

I don't have enough words to describe what I felt here, was very intrigued to know the history. Completed convict tour and torchlight tour, both were really good, very well presented with thorough guidance, funny, humour and laughter. Specially, torchlight tour was presented with art, at times acted by prison officer, convict actor, and convict murderer-women, how their criminal profile looked like and behaviour and mainly if someone lived in dark cells for 3 to 6 months without any sunlights, what can happen to mental health. Beautifully presented by such talented actors. Going to do tunnels next week.....

Incredible tour. The history of this place is very interesting and our guide (Ian) was wonderful, leading us through all aspects of the prison. We did the Behind Bars tour which was the history of the prison, a look at all of the blocks, kitchen and prison yard. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend going on one or two of the tours. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and added a heap of context to the well maintained heritage listed prison.

Went there without a ticket booked but we managed to get tickets at the desk. We went on the behind bars tour which was super interesting and the female tour guide who I think was European was really enthusiastic and made the tour great. She was super knowledgeable and was happy to answer any questions.
The missing star was the cafe…. We went to get a sandwich which was so toasted that it was inedible and was double the price of what you’d get out of the place.

The torchlight tour was so scary but fun, great guide taught us the history of the prison and the stain of the behaviour happened back then. Just be careful if you have claustrophobia, it was quite dark and half of the times in a closed concrete room, but its worth it visiting.

I don't take many tours, they're not my thing, but I made an exception for this one and was not disappointed. We took the tunnels tour and our guide was good--knowledgable and entertaining--and the experience of going through the tunnels was fascinating. You descend 60 feet by ladder (harnessed to it) then walk through, stooping where the ceiling is low. You eventually get to boats and complete the trip in water. We really enjoyed it.

What an amazing experience today. We did the convict tour and learnt so much. The tour guide Ian was so knowledgeable. The buildings were interesting and mind blowing on how the convicts mined the limestone and cut them and assembled them.

Did a convict tour of Fremantle Prison today. Loved it!! Amazing to learn so much about the building and surrounds from the beginning to basically the end. Also super in depth stories about the convicts and prisoners that once lived there. Our tour guide Janine was amazing and it’s easy to see she really enjoys her job. She really made the tour for us ⭐️
Would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area. Thanks again !

This prison has such a rich history that there are 4 different tours which are quite affordable. The prison was founded in the 1850s and built by convict labour and expanded and finally closed November 1991. The tour guides tell the story as if they’ve lived it. We took the early history tour and the tunnels tour and we loved it.
Kathe James — Google review
There are 4 guided tours available, suggest for visitors to take a look at the website for details of which ones to go for. Each tour can take 1.25hrs to 2.5hrs.
The guides were really amazing and knowledgeable. They told many funny and memorable stories about the history of Fremantle and the prison, the convicts, how they got shipped here, lived and rioted.
Those without tics can view some galleries near the gate, but cannot enter the prison.

We visited here for the behind bars tour, and Johnathan was SO funny and explained everything in detail with funny little jokes. He was amazing the whole tour and had some good laughs. At the front gate, the workers were very helpful with the tours and also the little gift shop had some really cool items. Would absolutely recommend coming here, I’ll be back in the future for the other tours!

WOW - A MUST DO
We decided on a current jail tour with Sam. She was great and we enjoyed the stories and sights.
Enjoying this tour we quickly booked into a Tunnel tour.
The tunnels tour has prerequisites so check them out before signing up but it was fantastic.
Sam assisted again with this tour (and was there to retrieve my husband when he realized he could no longer continue in the dark tunnels).
Debbie was our guide and was fantastic. She learnt a little about the participants and throughout the tour chatted to everyone....I think her chatter helped settle a few nerves too.
The tour was so interesting and informative. Traveling down ladders with hard hats and safety equipment deep under the prison then walking bent over until you reached a point to stand up. Returning via a small boat was scary, fun and exhilarating.
Other staff assisting with the groups were also professional but like Debbie has that cheeky side - exactly what you want in a tour guide.
Cafe, toilet, shop and facilities were all great and the fact the entrance to the prison was free to wander around is a drawcard. So even if you don't want to pay for a tour you can get an idea of the prisons history in this free section.

Good experience whilst in Freemantle. A number of tours available all with a different flavour. They cover from convict times to more recent times on different tours. Was a hot day during our tour but guides are very aware of that and knowledgeable and make it both informative and aware of the group dynamics. Well worth a visit.

Visited Fremantle Prison as part of the after dark torchlight tour. One of the best activity we did as a family.
The prison is well preserved and the staff are very lovely. The whole tour is meticulously organized and the host knows how to build an engaging story of prisons past. Stay alert for the suspense appearance of other staff acting as past prisoners - and this kept us alert & on our toes.
Hands down the best tour we had of the prison. Do book tickets in advance as they get sold out fast.
The tour last for 1.5hrs so be prepared to walk. Be aware that some of stories paint a depressing past - but the host gives ample warning when such events are narrated.
They also had prison exhibits on display including beautiful artwork dome by prisoners, the dress the wore, stories of some prisoners etc
If you visit Perth and fremantle, do not miss this tour!

Outstanding place to visit - a tour cost $22 for over an hour of touring the prison, our tour guide James was witty and funny throughout as well as knowing a lot of detail and obviously enjoying his job! Overall a very interesting piece of history here, I’d highly recommend a tour
Fremantle Markets is a bustling indoor market that has been around since 1897. It offers a variety of stalls selling food, local produce, clothes, and handicrafts. Located at the meeting point of Swan River and the Indian Ocean in Fremantle, this lively port city is known for its overflowing markets and charming atmosphere. The markets are filled with color and life, attracting visitors with their vibrant displays.
Must visit when in Perth! This market consists of many different unique stalls and food stalls and vegetable/fruits stalls. Do give the honey cake a try too, although very expensive but it's worth the price for the unique taste.
Do note that the market is only open on weekends! There's parking beside the market (expensive) and parking along the nearby streets (less but still expensive).

Fantastic idea to turn old wharf warehouses into this lovely venue. Well set up with tables along the dock side complimented with an on site brewery, a large selection for various food tastes.
A bonus is the view across the Swan River to a working container port and also the comings and goings of pleasure craft.

Cool little set of markets, best to visit earlier in the mornings as it gets quite busy late morning and afternoon.
Unique food stalls, health foods, burger bars, donut & pancake stalls, smoothie/juice bars and fresh fruit & veg shops.
Other side has your regular crafty stalls with a few unique hand crafted & imported goods stands.

No matter when I come here I find this market is overwhelming. There are always huge amounts of people and you can never browse peacefully. If your not a people person this place isn't for you. On a good note there are heaps of stalls. A food market section and usually some outside entertainment to keep you busy. The bus stop is right outside if you don't want to drive. Parking can be a bit of a mission but there is paid parking either right around the corner or a short distance walk away. There are eateries both inside the market and next door there is a pub. Cafes and other food places are right down the street. Highly recommend for the experience. Expect to be bumper to bumper with others in the actual market area.

Incredible experience exploring the place. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there were loads of people exploring the stalls. Everything you can think of can be bought here, ranging from jewellery to fresh fruit 🍓 and vegetables 🍆. Smells of cooked food were captivating and really draws you in. Strangely, prices aren't that cheap compared to market prices back home. Expect to spend in the range of $60 and above for 2 on an assortment of cuisines. More so if you're into souvenirs.

So many amazing stalls at this market and everyone was super lovely!
The first one was a coffee store which had a variety of different bean tastes, you can choose which one you want in your coffee which was a nice touch.
There was also a wine stall and the lady was lovely. Bought a bottle there which was super yum.
We then went to a whisky stall and the chick at the stall was so friendly and you could tell she was passionate about the products and really knew her stuff. Not pushy at all and just helped us choose the best bottle for us. Would definitely recommend swinging by that one, the whisky tasters were amazing.
Next was the Gin stall and the guy was yet again awesome and taste wise it was so lovely. the guy at the stalls was so friendly and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend!
We also went to the medium, Christine Fletcher who was amazing and really brought a positive vibe to our day.
All in all the markets is a MUST DO! If you’re ever in Perth.
However one stall was a huge let down. The old guy at “the handmade pen”stall was so pushy to us and a few others who stated the same, who were just looking whilst walking past. When we stated that we were not interested yet and we were just browsing, he gave a sassy response and that really let the market experience down. We were looking at other items after we stated we weren’t interested in the pens and also in the stall next to him as that stall was very popular, but due to this, he gave a rude response to move out of his way and move along. Really disappointing as all the other stalls had such amazing vibes regardless of whether it was popular or not.

Some very good stalls in this popular market. Today it was very overcrowded and it was hard to actually enjoy it or spend time browsing. Especially the lunch time food stalls, where it was almost impossible to walk at all.
Would have spent more time and money here, if the Easter Friday crowds were not so out of control.

Fremantle Markets happen to be my absolute favourite weekend spot in Perth. We usually take the train there as it's so easily accessible and the train journey is absolutely scenic. The markets have a wide variety of shops including fresh fruit juice, fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade jewelleries, handmade soaps, honey and much more. You can expect to find the kind of things that would not be usually ohms in other shops in the city. The vibe of the place is just completely different and just so lively. There is often live music by local artists and frequented by tourists. Wonderful place to spend a nice morning in Perth.

The waterfront museum in Fremantle showcases a variety of famous boats, offers guided tours of a submarine, and presents exhibits on maritime history. The state-of-the-art National Anzac Centre pays tribute to the men and women who served in World War I through interactive technology and historical artifacts. Visitors can immerse themselves in the experiences of 32 real service members, from recruitment to life on board ships during conflicts such as Gallipoli and the Western Front.
The Maritime Museum is about a ten minute walk from Fremantle station, come out and turn right. Then it's sign posted across the railway line then turn left. It's a modern structure partially extended into the river with the submarine Ovens laying to one side (odd name for a warship). The building is just sized to accommodate the American Cup winner yacht Australia 2. The museum donates a lot of space to whaling and various survey vessels and equipment. I found the explanatury text on the light side, and the extra charge for the dome cinema inside a cheeky add on. The volunteer staff are great guys and I had a very informative chat. The in-house cafe is neat and tidy overlooking the main harbour.

Amazing museum with lots of displays to see and read from. There's boats, a real body of a Megamouth shark, submarine and plenty more others.
Very interesting and informative. This is one place where you should certainly take your own time & pace to fully read and enjoy its history here.
There's also guided tours here especially for the submarine for those who are eager and curious to explore inside a submarine.
Besides that, they have a mini cinema here in a dome shape room that plays documentary films.
Over all fascinating.

We visited the sea monster exhibition during the July school holidays. There were plenty of opportunities to interact with the stations and screen experience to replicate bones. I particularly liked the way they displayed the facts/ information. They added some humour and an easy to digest read. 1 hour was plenty to cover the area. I wished it was a much bigger area with more!!

Such a great museum with a very reasonably priced $15 entry fee and family pass options. Highlights Perth's beginnings, migrants and fishing industry well, includes a celebration of winning the America's Cup, and hosts the Oberon class Submarine HMAS Ovens, an authentic Cold War-era vessel. Beautiful views of the Fremantle harbour and port. Good disability access, hands-on activities for kids over the school holidays, and regularly hosts fascinating exhibitions.

Truly superb museum. Accessible by public transport or $9 all day car parking. The curators here think carefully about their exhibits and they’re world class! I’ve been to the Vikings, Antartica, Sharks and most recently, Lego Brickmasters. Affordable entry and excellent kids activities during school holidays. The permanent exhibits are both interesting and interactive. The building itself is beautiful and the views are stunning. Take time to be outside too, the names of the migrants who passed through are all recorded - you may find your relatives!

Great spot to spend half a day, we took 3 kids aged 9, 5 and 4. The 4 year old found it a little boring during the normal session. And then found it a little overwhelming during the sea monsters exhibition session during the holidays - very busy. We arrived for opening time and found that to work well for parking and it was a lot less busy than 2 hours later.
Clean toilets, but very small - trickyto take little kids to the toilet, let alone a pram if needed. Plenty to look at. Small cafe inside. And an expensive but fun gift shop.
Very limited parking directly in front of the museum.
Able to take your own food/drink - just can't consume it in the exhibition areas.

Extremely well put-together museum, I cannot say I've ever paid much attention to topics relating to the maritime but I found myself fascinated by almost everything here, and it really puts into perspective just how integral maritime activities were and still are to our lives with the variety of displays they have.
It's a real feast for the eyes as well, being extremely colourful and vibrant and making great use of its vertical space with all they have suspended in the air to give a great sense of the size of these things.
Definitely my favourite WA museum, give it a visit when you can

The reception staff was very kind (I think his name was Jonathan?), he patiently explained everything to us. Well maintained and beautiful displays. Wish there was a parents room or kids bathroom. There was only 1 disabled toilet for the nappy changing and so it was tricky when there are multiple people needing it.

Our guide - Peter - a wealth of knowledge on the submarine field, as long as it was not a secret. :)
We felt how narrow spaces were, we snugged through doors, we struggled to go down steps for the missiles hatch, we seen their bunks, galley, toilet and shower, and the marvellous extra space and privacy that officers had and during two hours it was interesting to make us feel what kind of life have the submariners.

Little Creatures Brewery, located in Fremantle, Perth Region, Western Australia, offers a unique and enjoyable experience. Visitors can embark on a morning cruise down the Swan River to reach the charming port of Fremantle. This historic area is filled with captivating stories of convicts, maritime heroes, and pioneers. One must-visit attraction is the Fremantle Prison, which serves as the state's first jail and largest structure built by convicts.
We managed to get the last booth inside because outside was already so busy. The staff were attentive and friendly. The natural oysters were deliciously fresh. We also ordered the brewer's board, a wedge salad, 2 beetroot salads, a serve of chips, and a kids fish and chips. This fed 5 adults and a kid. We ate until we were bursting at the seams!!
The cider, wine, and beer were all fantastic.

Good beer and drinks, although food can have more options. No reservation allowed, but you can walk in and pick your own table. Order from scanning the menu on your phone. Tasting paddle not avail on the table menu, you have to order it at the bar itself. Lady at the beer counter was not friendly at all. Not interested to strike up any conversation, it’s like she’s really unhappy working there. Would still give it 4 stars for both food and drinks but not for the service at the beer counter. The other service staff were ok (especially the new girl).

Great experience and service from
The moment we entered the place! Spent lunch at the great hall ordered oysters, squid calamari(really good!), 4 glass sampler and kids pizza. Proceeded to the cellar door for round 2 of beer sampler and chips! Afternoon well spent!

Once again, the harbour view makes this a real treat. A medium pizza (which was quite good ) and two beverages totalled $50. A little on the steeper side, but overall a good dining experience.
Service was great. Very friendly, and orders served quite quickly.

I am pleased to say I was so happy with the food and wonderful service at Little Creatures today. I will definitely be back. Stand out charred octopus with white bean puree. Chilli mussels I got medium and it was hot so please be careful those who don't like spice! Pizza was only alright I'd try something else next time.

Even though it was very busy, we (4 persons) managed to get a table upstairs facing the harbour. Although it was a bit rainy/overcast day, the view was great. The staff was very friendly, efficient and attentive. I couldn't believe how quickly we got the food (and of course beer) we ordered. Food was absolutely delicious and well presented. The beer was great as well.

Great location, great beer and the pizza was fantastic. The vibe is always good and it is really family friendly. Opens at 11:00 on a Sunday and if you clever you come early as it can get very busy. Parking is a challenge if you come too late to anywhere in Fremantle but you could also take the train to Freo

I ate at Little Creatures for the first time recently and I will return again. The food was yummy and arrived at our table rather quickly. The staff was nice and ordering through the QR code was simple and convenient. It was a tad pricey but I would still recommend visiting here as the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was worth being part of! 👍🏻
Rachael W — Google review
The atmosphere is nice, vibrant and welcoming. However, my only disappointment was the other patrons nearby who brought their young children who is obviously exhausted and crying out loud. We arrived around 5.30pm.
The beer and other drinks were great too. The food we ordered were OK too. I didn't enjoyed them because it was so spicy. The menu didn't specify chili on every items. It would be good if all items on menu could mention or include if it included or sprinkled with chili. I didn't order the chili mussels although in the menu it asked of hotness could be mild, medium or very hot. All the other items I ordered did not mention any chili so I thought they will be OK. If it had mentioned the chili, I would not have ordered them or at least ask to not include it. Overall, it is not a bad place to meet up with friends especially if you love spicy food. Also just be aware about the venue, that sometimes other patrons could bring young children who may be crying out loud. So if it is a date or birthday celebration as a couple, it may not be a good place to go. But if you don't mind children crying and yelling out loud while loud music being played and happy conversations nearby, then you will enjoy this place.

Participated in the brewery tour. There were only 3 of us on this particular tour, so was able to chat with our guide "Esher", who was a remarkable tour/beer guide expertly assisting us to navigate the world of hops, yeasts and brewing. Thoroughly enjoyed. Shout out to Rose as well for her cameo appearance. Many thank you's to all the creatures!

The atmosphere was great, and I loved the selection of craft beers. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit even more enjoyable. The waterfront view added to the charm, making it a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy a drink. I'll definitely be returning in the future!

Lovely place for craft beers on tap, delicious food and fun vibes. We got the beer tasting board, mussels and a pizza. We went around Halloween time so were met by staff in the cleverest costumes and the whole place was decorated to the nines. It's a massive pub with tonnes of seating. Outdoor in the summer is best because of the great view.

Great place to check out if visiting Fremantle. The beers are fresh and delicious and the wood fire pizza is great. The only thing is the beer paddle comes with pre selected beers and no changes are allowed which is strange for a brewery especially if one is driving and wishes to taste different options.

Had a great time in this place.
Although I didn't try any beer the food and environment was perfect this day.
Prosciutto pizza was well served and tasty. Half chicken is a huge plate and you can share easily.
Staff friendly and reasonable price as well.
Probably will be back next time....

Big Brewery! Had a blast here with my ale!
I can order my drinks from my seats! Which was better than the last place. Really convenient!

If you’re driving, parking around here is free on weekends. A worthy visit for any beer lovers, we stayed for about an hour to enjoy a drink and view while purchasing some local merchandise.
You simply can’t go wrong with the $20 tasting tray; 10 x 85ml samples of their offerings, some of which only available here at the brewery. The 2 that stood out for me was the flavourful, tangy yet low in alcohol Little Hazy Lager and the only available at brewery Elsie WA Ale.
The Round House, an ancient penitentiary dating back to 1831 and now accessible to the public for tours, can be explored by making a donation. This historically significant structure, built as a twelve-sided edifice, stands as Western Australia's oldest communal building. It offers visitors the chance to delve into its distinct architecture and discover its original purpose of housing local criminals.
Fantastic location and views. We walked around the grounds and enjoyed Bathers beach.
The place is clean and well kept. A piece of Fremantle's history. Nice place to visit and absorb the historical past of this Port City.

Make me surprised, the roundhouse is old, peaceful and historic, the great site to watch sunset, it is different from the buildings and architecture around the seaside, it’s unique.

We spoke to a very knowledgeable volunteer here. He was excellent. Cells were well displayed. The outdoor area was also very good. A must to do is to walk through the tunnel. It was all very neat and tidy. 360° views from the lookout here.

Historical places that should be visited, there are viewing points along with information and knowledge of the place to study. suitable for taking children to travel

Nice place to get a view of the bay and to learn about the whaling history when exploring the tunnel. They used to kill southern whales to fuel light bulbs and to make clothes. 😭 Leads right onto the bicycle track and is very accessible. Toilets available too. And can check out the art gallery.

The Roundhouse is the oldest public building in the State of Western Australia. Opened in January 1831, just 18 months after settlement, it was built to hold any person convicted of a crime in the settlement and was used until 1886.
After it ceased being used as a gaol it became a Police Lock-up until the late 1890s and then was used as accommodation for the Water Police, and afterwards as a storage facility for Fremantle Ports. When threatened with demolition in the 1920s it was saved and later control went to the State Government before it was deeded to the City of Fremantle.

Close to the city, interesting history/architecture and nice views over freemantle. For a gold coin donation it’s well worth the visit while in town. The volunteers are friendly and happy to answer questions and provide more information.

The WA Shipwrecks Museum is a restored 1850s-era commissariat building that showcases artifacts and relics documenting various shipwrecks. Situated near the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, this museum offers a captivating journey through time, presenting original findings and exhibits from WAs coastline shipwrecks. Visitors can explore the collection of artifacts from Australia's first shipwreck as well as those belonging to early Dutch explorers from the 1600s.
Very interesting place but got there just before closing so didn't see as much as I would have liked. The museum is in a great location near Bathers Bay and some tummy eateries. Was particularly interested in the Batavia exhibition and was not disappointed.
Deb Roberts — Google review
Interesting museum with plenty of relics and lost items that are retrieved from various sunken ships. Very informative.
Give yourself some good amount of time to browse through all the displays, immerse yourself in its history and learn the discoveries made.
Justin Ang — Google review
Cannot speak more highly of this little space. It's modern, clean, fun, jam-packed with info, and really quite captivating for both adults and kids. They have a treasure map and a sheet of questions to be answered throughout the museum to work out a padlock code for a treasure chest, sitting at the entrance. Honestly, blown away by how wonderful this spot was. We didn't have enough time to view all areas and items thoroughly. It was warm and a little safe haven on a cold and windy ANZAC day, with 2 little kids and 3 adults. The gift shop was charming and full of quality products. The staff were helpful and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend popping in and donating what you can. There is no entry fee.

Had an absolutely fantastic and educational visit to this museum today. A magnificent record and collection of artefacts from many shipwrecks of a bygone era. A credit to all the staff and volunteers, especially those who recovered and restored back to working condition an old ship engine!
A bonus, until 30 July, is a special display of a large private collection of scale models of hundreds of naval ships and submarines. The fine detail and other aspects were truly astounding.

This is a great place to visit. First of all it's free ! Secondly the staff are friendly and well informed if you want to ask questions. And then of course there are the exhibits. I love the story of The Batavia shipwreck and this is superbly exhibited. As well there are other shipwreck stories and items.
Well worth the time looking around. 👌

A beautiful hidden gem - well worth the $5 suggested donation. It's a small museum but I was surprised how much there was to see (II was expecting something a lot less for the price). Spent well over an hour here and learnt lots. The current Dutch explorer exhibition is particularly interesting.

Really well done. Great artifacts. Will be back.
The only feedback for improvement I have is to put the original engraved maps in a more prominent place. The downstairs maps are almost, if not all, understandably reproductions.

I had only planned on less than an hour to visit. I stayed the whole day and could have seen more. These exhibits and video presentations were very well done. To read the brief histories of the many shipwrecks was very interesting. The $5 donation was more than a bargain. Buy something at the gift shop to help support this place. There were many volunteers to guide and answer questions.

The WA Shipwreck Museum is a great place to visit in Fremantle. Loads of exhibits with interesting historical artifacts. Our group of 4 adults and 2 teenagers all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It wasn't crowded and there was plenty of room to comfortably read the corresponding plaques to the exhibit. The guides were on hand with quirky tidbits that you couldn't find written down
Would definitely recommend visiting here. It's also donation entry. So very affordable.

Went for the free exhibition, there are many ship wreck artifacts, it is interesting to know about the history of the shipwreck. there's also partial parts of the ship in the museum as well, staff are friendly and helpful. It's a 2 storey museum for people to explore and is air-conditioned as well. Recommended for young and old.

Was really cool to visit, lots of information about the shipping history of WA in an easy to digest way. ITS FREE, they have a donation option which I recommend but it is free so there is no risk if you decide you don't like it then you haven't lost anything. Friendly staff. Directly across the way from the fremantle ferris wheel to do multiple activities at the same time. I highly recommend

The lively marina near Fremantle is known for its seafood restaurants, a brewery, and a tribute to the famous AC/DC frontman. Situated in a historic 19th century building close to the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, the Shipwrecks Museum is an intriguing attraction that shouldn't be overlooked. Inside this museum, visitors can explore exhibits and artifacts from shipwrecks that took place along Western Australia's coastline.

4 stars only because it was grey 🩶 and drizzling when we got there. Otherwise, it was a nice attraction 🧲 with breweries 🍻 along the pier and seagulls politely watching you eat. Could spend a good 30 minutes to an hour ambling around if weather 🌡️ was good. Wintertime so it was cold 🥶even in the afternoon. Remember to show a physical ID if you want to sample the alcohol at the breweries here.

Leighton Beach is a well-known and popular beach in Perth, Australia. It has gentle waves, clean sand and crystal-clear water. It's close to the center of town, making it easy to get to by bus or walk. The beach features several picnic areas with gazebos, tables and BBQs, as well as plenty of parking. There are also areas for dogs to exercise off-leash.
Good beach with plenty of parking. The beach also has a big changing room with shower and toilets. Compared to other beaches in Perth, Leighton is one of the calmest there is for family with kids. Very ideal for picnics!

Nice beach in general. A few rocks depending on what time of year. Usually the waves are dumpy. No dogs here. Best change rooms I've ever seen at a public beach. Good BBQ facilities as well. Beach access is good. Not a surfing spot. Patrolled by SLS on weekends and public holidays. 2 parking areas. More than enough for most days. Train station close if that's relevant to you. Easy bike path joining Port Beach and other north.
